1 Duties of a Classroom Monitor for Younger Students

Teachers utilize classroom monitors for all sorts of reasons, such as needing an extra set of hands when it comes to helping younger students to the bathroom or keeping them quiet and accounted for during safety drills. Classroom monitors might also take younger students to and from their classroom for electives, such as art, recess, gym or the library, so the teacher can have extra time in her classroom to prepare for the next lesson. Some classroom monitors might find that they have less interaction with the students and are focused more on the everyday tasks that need to be completed, such as making sure the classroom and supplies are tidy, organized and at the ready. A classroom monitor might also help a teacher during special times, such as decorating the classroom according to the theme for the month or the change in seasons. They might even be expected to help prepare for classroom celebrations.

2 Duties of a Classroom Monitor for Older Students

For a teacher with older students, she might need a class monitor to keep watch during testing to ensure students are keeping their eyes on their own paper. The class monitor might then be needed to collect the papers and grade them so the teacher has enough time to enter the student’s grades and adjust her teaching schedule to reteach the material if scores are low.

3 Advantages and Disadvantages of a Classroom Monitor

While many of these duties range in responsibility, they're all very important and require a person who loves to spend time with children of all ages, backgrounds and abilities. A class monitor’s position is more labor intensive than a homeroom parent who may only be needed for very specific duties on a limited basis. Class monitors can be paid positions or strictly volunteer roles, all dependent upon the needs and budget of the school. If the position is a paid one, it’s also important to remember that many schools don’t operate on a year-round schedule, and that may impact your salary if you’re not considered a full-time employee.

4 Positive Benefits for Teachers and Classroom Monitors

It’s never too late to become a class monitor. It’s a great way to not only help a teacher and her students but grow a career. From making copies to managing the students if the teacher needs to attend to business outside of the classroom, being an efficient helper is easy when you know what to expect.

The role of a class monitor is like that of a Swiss Army knife—a versatile tool with multiple functions. This coveted position is not just about bossing classmates around or being the teacher’s pet. Oh no, it’s way more than that! In this subsection, we’ll explore the unique and indispensable responsibilities of a class monitor.

Maintaining Order and Discipline

Being a class monitor means being the gatekeeper of order and discipline. This heroic individual ensures that chaos doesn’t engulf the classroom by enforcing rules and regulations—all while wearing an imaginary superhero cape. They keep an eye on classmates who attempt to push the boundaries, like the notorious gum chewers and the clandestine note passers.

Assisting the Teacher

Class monitors are the unsung heroes who lighten the burden on teachers. They assist in various tasks, like handing out worksheets or collecting assignments, allowing the teacher to focus on imparting knowledge instead of chasing after errant pieces of paper. It’s like having a reliable sidekick, only without the matching costumes.

Serving as a Liaison

When the class needs a voice, the class monitor steps up to the plate. This diplomatic champion acts as the go-between, relaying messages from students to the teacher and vice versa. Need to extend a deadline? Talk to the class monitor. Have a genius idea for a fun class activity ? Share it with the class monitor. They’re the link that completes the communication chain!

FAQ: What is the role of a class monitor?

Being a class monitor is no easy task. It requires responsibility, leadership, and a keen eye for detail. In this FAQ-style blog post, we will answer all your burning questions about the role of a class monitor. From the duties they perform to the benefits they enjoy, we’ve got you covered. So, let’s dive right in, shall we?

What is the best resolution for a 27-inch monitor

Size matters, especially when it comes to monitors! For a 27-inch monitor, the ideal resolution would be 2560×1440 pixels, also known as WQHD or 1440p. This resolution ensures a crisp display with vibrant colors, making your visual experience truly immersive. Say goodbye to blurry edges and hello to stunning clarity!

What are the two uses of a monitor

Did you know that a monitor can serve not just one, but two purposes? First and foremost, it serves as a visual display for your computer, showcasing all the digital wonders on its screen. But wait, there’s more! A monitor can also double as a temporary hiding spot for your office snacks. Just make sure to keep it crumb-free for optimal performance!

Can you use a monitor like a computer

Oh, if only it were that simple! As much as we’d love our monitors to transform into fully functioning computers, they, unfortunately, cannot fulfill that wish. A monitor relies on a computer or other compatible devices to display images and videos. However, you can still become the master of your digital universe by connecting a computer to a monitor and expanding your workspace like a boss!

Is a 27-inch 1080p monitor blurry

Blurry, you say? Well, let’s clear things up! At a 27-inch size, a monitor with a 1080p resolution might make the pixels a tad more noticeable, resulting in a slightly less sharp image. However, fear not, for the human eye is forgiving, and unless you’re sitting inches away from the screen, the blurriness shouldn’t be a major concern. So sit back, relax, and enjoy your digital escapades!

Do I want a curved monitor

Ah, the allure of a curved monitor! It’s like having your own private IMAX theater, but without the overpriced snacks. While a curved monitor can provide a more immersive viewing experience, it’s not necessarily a “must-have” for everyone. It all boils down to personal preference. So, if you fancy the idea of being cocooned in cinematic bliss, go ahead and treat yourself to a curved monitor. Movie nights will never be the same again!

What is the meaning of a class monitor

A class monitor is not just a fancy name or a glorified title. It’s a position of responsibility and leadership within a classroom setting. The class monitor is appointed to assist the teacher in maintaining discipline, organizing activities, and being a role model for their fellow classmates. Think of them as the superstar of the class, dedicated to creating a positive and harmonious learning environment.

What is an example of a monitor

If you’re searching for a stellar example of a monitor, look no further than the popular models available in the market. From industry leaders like Dell, HP, and Asus to emerging brands like Acer and LG, the options are aplenty. Each brand offers a range of monitors, varying in size, resolution, and features. Just remember, finding the perfect monitor is like finding your soulmate – you’ll know it when you see it!

What is the other name of a monitor

A monitor by any other name would still display as sweet! If you’re tired of the mundane term “monitor,” you’ll be thrilled to know that it has a more glamorous alter ego – “display.” Yes, that’s right! Monitor and display are often used interchangeably, so feel free to sprinkle your conversations with this delightful synonym and impress your tech-savvy friends .

What are the three types of monitors

Monitors come in all shapes and sizes, just like the cast of a captivating TV show. There are three main types of monitors:

LCD Monitors : LCD stands for Liquid Crystal Display, and these monitors use a backlight to display images. They are popular due to their affordability and energy efficiency.

LED Monitors : LED, which stands for Light-Emitting Diode, is the star of the show here. LED monitors offer improved brightness, contrast, and color accuracy compared to LCD monitors.

OLED Monitors : OLED, or Organic Light-Emitting Diode, monitors take the display quality up a notch. With their self-illuminating pixels and stunning black levels, they deliver an unparalleled visual experience. However, be prepared to shell out a pretty penny for this premium option.

How important is a good monitor

Ah, the age-old question! A good monitor is like a trusted sidekick on your digital journey. Whether you’re working, gaming, or binge-watching your favorite shows, a high-quality monitor can make all the difference. It enhances productivity, elevates your entertainment experience, and even takes your social media stalking skills to new heights. So, yes, a good monitor is worth its weight in gold!

Would you like to be the class monitor? Why

Now, that’s a tough one! Being a class monitor comes with its fair share of responsibilities, challenges, and of course, perks. Imagine the power to maintain order, the chance to be a leader, and the opportunity to leave a positive impact on your classmates. However, it also means taking on additional tasks and occasionally being the bearer of bad news. So, the choice is yours. Are you ready to don the mantle of a class monitor and shape the future?

How do I buy a good monitor

Buying a good monitor is no small feat, but fear not, for we have a game plan! Here’s how you can embark on your monitor-hunting expedition:

Determine Your Needs : Consider your intended use for the monitor. Will you be gaming, working, or indulging in media consumption? Having a clear purpose in mind will help you choose the right features.

Size Matters : Size does indeed matter when it comes to monitors. Determine the ideal size for your workspace and personal preferences. Remember, bigger may not always be better, especially if you have limited desk real estate.

Resolution Revelation : Selecting the right resolution is essential for a crisp and clear display. Higher resolutions like 1440p or even 4K offer a visually stunning experience, while 1080p remains the standard for budget-friendly options.

Connectivity Consideration : Ensure that the monitor has the necessary ports and compatibility to connect to your desired devices. HDMI, DisplayPort, and USB-C are some common interface options to look out for.

Budgetary Browsing : Set a budget and stick to it. Monitors come in various price ranges, so finding one that fits your wallet won’t be an impossible feat. Remember, the cost should align with the features and benefits you seek.

Research and Reviews : Read up on reviews, comparisons, and customer experiences to make an informed decision. Websites and forums dedicated to tech enthusiasts are excellent resources for gathering knowledge.

Make the Purchase : Once you’ve done your due diligence, it’s time to take the plunge. Find a reputable retailer or trusted online marketplace and make the purchase. Congratulations, you’re one step closer to monitor nirvana!

What is the role of a class monitor

Ah, the star of our FAQ show! The role of a class monitor encompasses a multitude of tasks and responsibilities. Here are some key duties they handle:

Maintaining Discipline : The class monitor assists the teacher in ensuring that the class remains focused, orderly, and respectful. They keep an eagle eye on any misbehavior and step in to address issues promptly.

Organizing Activities : From class presentations to group projects, the class monitor takes charge of organizing various activities. They ensure everyone’s participation, coordinate schedules, and facilitate a smooth workflow.

Being a Role Model : As the class monitor, one becomes a shining example for their fellow students. They embody qualities like punctuality, respect, responsibility, and dedication. Others look up to them for guidance and inspiration.

Communication Channel : The class monitor acts as a liaison between the teacher and students, conveying important messages, deadlines, and announcements. They are the go-to person for any class-related information.

Assisting the Teacher : Whether it’s passing out assignments, collecting homework, or managing class materials, the class monitor is the teacher’s right-hand helper. They offer support in various classroom tasks, lightening the load for the teacher.

What is the monitor in simple language

In simple terms, a monitor is the bridge between you and your computer’s digital wonders. It’s like a window to the magical world of technology, showcasing all your favorite movies, games, websites, and social media feeds. Without a monitor, your computer would have nothing to display, leaving you in a sea of darkness. So, in essence, a monitor is your digital sidekick, faithfully bringing your imagination to life, one pixel at a time.

Should I buy a TV or a monitor

Ah, the age-old debate of TV versus monitor! It all comes down to how you plan to use your screen time. If you’re primarily looking to enhance your gaming experience, work on productivity tasks, or use it as a computer display, a high-quality monitor is the way to go. However, if your heart is set on cozy movie nights, binging TV series, or enjoying console gaming on the big screen, a TV might be the better choice. Assess your needs, measure your space, and let your entertainment preferences guide you towards the perfect screen companion.

Is 1080p enough for a 27-inch monitor

Let’s dive into the resolution pool! While 1080p (also known as Full HD) is the standard for many monitors, a 27-inch screen might push its limits a bit. The pixel density on a 27-inch 1080p monitor is slightly lower compared to smaller screens, resulting in less sharp visuals. However, don’t fret just yet! Unless you have a superhuman eye for detail or plan to sit unusually close to the screen, 1080p should still provide a satisfactory viewing experience. So, grab that popcorn, sit back, and indulge in your favorite content!

What is the difference between a monitor and a desktop

Ah, the classic case of monitor versus desktop! Let’s clarify the confusion. A monitor is the visual display unit, the screen, the canvas upon which your digital wonders come to life. On the other hand, a desktop refers to a complete computer system that consists of the processor, memory, storage, and other components. So essentially, the monitor is just one part of the whole desktop package. While a desktop cannot function without a monitor, a monitor could be used with various compatible devices like laptops or gaming consoles, making it a versatile companion for all your digital needs.

What can you do with old computer monitors

Oh, the possibilities are endless when it comes to repurposing old computer monitors! Here are a few creative ideas to give your old friend a new lease on life:

Dual Monitor Delight : If you have another active computer or laptop, connect your old monitor to create a dual-monitor setup. Expand your workspace and skyrocket your productivity like a multitasking wizard!

Digital Photo Frame : Transform your monitor into a mesmerizing digital photo frame. Load up your favorite memories, set it on a slideshow mode, and bask in nostalgia with every glance.

DIY Arcade Cabinet : Channel your inner arcade enthusiast and build your very own retro gaming setup. Mount your old monitor inside a customized arcade cabinet and relive the golden age of gaming.

Pet Playtime : It’s no secret that cats and dogs are social media sensations. Turn your old monitor into an interactive play station for your furry friends. Play YouTube videos of birds chirping or squirrels dancing, and watch the magic unfold!

Abstract Art : Embrace your inner Picasso and turn your monitor into a statement piece of abstract art. Apply colorful paint, abstract designs, or even decoupage to create a stunning visual display for your living space.

Donate or Recycle : If all else fails, don’t let your monitor gather dust in the attic. Donate it to a school, non-profit organization, or recycler. Someone else might find a new purpose for it, or it can be properly disposed of in an eco-friendly manner.

Phew! We’ve covered a lot of ground in this FAQ-style blog post about the role of a class monitor. From the best resolution for a 27-inch monitor to the creative uses for old computer monitors, we hope we’ve satisfied your curiosity. Whether you’re embarking on a monitor-buying journey or contemplating taking on the noble role of a class monitor, we wish you the best of luck. Keep rocking that digital world, and remember, with great monitor power comes great responsibility!

Experiences as a Class Monitor

essay on class monitor

I have never understood how a teacher chooses a class monitor from a whole class of 40-60 students. Throughout my school years, I have seen many monitors but to date, I could not find out properly why those students were chosen in the first place. In fact, I never hoped that I could be a monitor but to my surprise, I was also made one. In my early school days, I was always excited to become monitor because I was the kind of kid who couldn’t sit in one place. I hated sitting in the classroom but loved to play in school-ground. Monitors were allowed to roam freely in the school building as nobody questions them about their trip. It was strongly assumed that class monitors are responsible persons and they might be out of class to assist their teacher. I wanted that power of free movement as a class monitor.

During those days, I was kind of a carefree and a bit selfish student. I wanted to have my freedom, and I did not have any interest in mending the class or assisting the teacher. I was not given a chance, not because of my carefree attitude but because of prevalent favouritism in my school. My teachers did not treat students equally. There were two categories of students in my class—A group that used to take private tuition from that teacher and another set of students who don’t take. She used to make, her favourite students, a monitor; they were supposed from her group of tuition students.

As I grew older, I started realizing the difficulties of a monitoring job as it was a hectic job. It requires a certain level of discipline and commitment. At that time, for me, discipline meant to be in imprisonment and I was a kind of freedom fighter. How could I have surrendered my freedom against the mere job of a monitor? I was so sure that I can’t sacrifice my attitude for sake of getting the perks of being a monitor. And those perks were—extra care from the teacher, attention from fellow students, a sense of pride, and a permanent seat in the front row of the classroom.

For a 10-year kid, these privileges were trivial, and it does not matter where you sit in the classroom if your mind is on the playground you, can’t focus on the teacher. I always wanted to become the captain of my school’s football team. I realized late in my school days that by never being a monitor, I had committed a grave mistake. Those who had been a monitor in their academic career were  used to get chance in the selection process of the captain. Then I had no other option but to change my school and was admitted to a school that had a bigger playground than my current school. I was mad about playing and I was never absent on Fridays and Saturdays for those days we used to have games-period.

I left my school after completing class-8. Although it is difficult to leave a school where you have your besties instead I changed my school. I was happy because I got admission into a school of my choice. I became happier when I came to know that my new school have a democratic criterion for choosing a class monitor. My first year at the new school was hard because I had to learn rules and regulations by heart to catch the attention of my teachers. The selection of class monitor was ambiguous as it was based on—performance in studies and sports, behaviour with teachers and fellow students, and obvious choice of students and teachers. My strengths were sports and a frank attitude. I had good terms with almost every student in my school. I had to work on my studies and relationship with the teachers for that I diligently studied in class-9. I scored 5th rank in my class and it was a moment of joy. For the first time in my life, I had come to a rank in the single digit.

Soon I entered into class 10th with much vigour and enthusiasm. At the start of the academic session, I applied for the monitor role. I think because of my efforts in studies and sports, I cleared the first two stages of selection but I was a bit anxious about the last stage which included voting from teachers and fellow students. Somehow teachers were not convinced about me as a monitor but by the huge majority of votes from students I was selected. It was an exuberant day; I couldn’t sleep that night. My dream of becoming captain was so close to me.

I was over cloud nine! As soon as I landed back on earth, I was given a short training from the preceding monitor. Trained and fully equipped with my powers, I started assisting teachers and also my friends. If I were asked, how many friends do you have? I would have counted the total number of students in my class. Yes, the whole class was my friend. Bearing the brunt of favouritism from my previous school, here, I couldn’t favour one student more than the other. So, I started favouring them all.

I did not realise when I as an ambassador of teachers turned against them. They were furious to see a happy classroom under my conduct. I was given a warning that if I won't follow the teacher’s order, I would not be allowed to apply for the captain post. I was so close to my selection, but I could not betray my friends. I was puzzled, so I decided to keep continuing the way I was conducting the class.

Ultimately, I was removed from the monitoring role and my dream of becoming captain shattered the very day. For some days, I had been physically present in the classroom but my mind had been mourning the death of my dream. Soon the pressure of 10th Boards overshadowed my grief. I focused my attention back on my studies. As I was a good player in sports so I did not go into a depression of any sort. I learnt a lot from my setback—being playful in life can help you achieve success; discipline is most important in life; You can’t go far in your life with a selfish attitude.

If I Were a Class Monitor Essay in English There are 30-35 children in every class and every one of them wishes to lead all the others. Well, this is the confidence not all will bear, but a wish all the students have at some point in their schooling days. I am not different and I also wish to be a class monitor one day. Thinking about being a monitor is one thing, but being is definitely not that easy.

There are not many who are born with leadership skills and the stress you have to deal with at such a young age is not everyone’s cup of tea.  It does not mean that you area topper in the school and you get to be a monitor.

You need to be healthy, strong, and good in your studies as well.  If I were a monitor I have so many good things in my mind that I would do to display my leadership qualities. Well, not all get the chance as teachers have their favorites in schools too and it is a pretty good chance that they will get to be a monitor more than others. You need to be in the good books of your teachers too.

Essay On If I Were a Monitor of My Class

One thing that everyone expects from the class monitor is to keep everyone in discipline when the teacher is not present. This is very challenging because students of your same age don’t like to follow this. Monitors are also sometimes left out because they are the monitor of the class. There are many fun things we have to deal with in school life and this is one of them.

The boys section is the hardest to deal with because they fight with each other and have a plucky attitude which monitors have to deal with. There are many naughty students in the class who indulge in mischief, fights, and pranks.

They are going to most often do this to their friends and class monitor is on the top list. If I were a monitor I would have to keep my eyes always open for this. I would have shown full control over the class and made fun of things so that everyone shows interest in what I am expecting from them.

No matter what my class fellows named me, I would always inform my teachers about the bad behavior of my classmates and boys who trouble others. This is the job of a monitor and I would have completed it with great responsibility.

Class Monitor Duties

There are many things that can happen against the rules and interests of the school and if something like happened I would have directly gone to the principal and reported about everything.  In school, we are there to make friends, to learn things, and to be in discipline so there is nothing wrong with reporting bad things to teachers and principle.

Some students are afraid of this and never report to the teachers and these are the ones who often get bullied in school. If I were a class monitor I would have made sure that every bully gets his/her punishment because at school we are there to learn and not to make fun of others.

I know that we cannot create a disciplined environment by threatening to tell teachers or using force. There are some good ways by which we can maintain discipline. This is one of the biggest qualities of a leader and I would have displayed them all well.

I would have definitely been the best student with ideal monitor skills in the classroom. I would have never disrespected my teachers, fellow classmates and even the peon and other people who work in my school.

I will always show respect to all of them and obey what we are meant to. I should have set an example for all the others. I shall be helpful to all the students and teachers of my school. I would have been always regular and punctual in my class and performed all my duties.

I always had an interest in becoming head boy not because I was good at studies, but I knew I had all the qualities of being a monitor. I would have done so much for my class and my teachers. Monitors’ job is not just to keep the class quiet when the teacher is not present and this is why I liked this job.

I would have helped my classmates who were weak; I would have helped everyone who needed it the most.  There are many students who are shy in the class, they wish to participate in the activities, but because they are too shy they just ignore it. I would have pushed them because being their classmate would ease them.

If I were a class monitor I would have been the best among all the other monitors because I think I have unique capabilities. There is so much that we learn in schools. It is the foundation of what we are going to be in the future.

I would have enjoyed being a monitor and learning as much as I can at that time. I would have taken full advantage of my position to be a better person and also help others.  There is so much experience that being a class monitor I could have gained and applied them in the future.  Being a class monitor I would have been the favorite of all my fellow classmates as well as teachers.

It just gives a student confidence to well in everything and this is why monitors are so special and also get special treatment in the school. I would have enjoyed every moment in my school being I think if I a monitored and gained sweet memories and experiences.

I think if I were the class monitor everyone would have appreciated me and liked me for being well mannered, a leader, and a sweet boy who can handle everything without being unlikely to those who are jealous of class monitors. I would have been the best class monitor of my time.

Essay: My Class Monitor

The class monitor has to maintain order. In the event of any mischief, the teacher will be held accountable. A class monitor or student has a variety of duties to fulfill. The class monitors need to make sure there isn’t any mischief going on in the classroom. The other students should be quiet, and if they want to talk, the monitors should take stern measures to stop them. They need to warn the pupils or tell the teacher right away. The task of a class monitor is to distribute the messages that the teacher has given to the other students. These messages could be about a crucial exam, a difficult assignment, or just some general information.

The name of my school is St. Florence School. On the day of independence, students are typically elected to various leadership positions. In addition to practicing the march past, there was performance preparation going on in school. Five students from each class above grade 6 were nominated for a particular position, such as class monitor or house leader of the Charles, Levens, or Adrien houses.

We were finally informed about the nominated pupils before the Day of Independence program. My classmate Riya from section A in my class, grade 6, was also nominated.

She had always desired to lead the Livens Group as house captain. But the nomination also depends on the class students’ reported vote totals. Finally, we all met on the day of freedom. We were all assembled in our classes.

Ma’am handed every one of us a piece of paper on which we were to cast our votes for the candidates for house caption and class monitor.

Consequently, after the vote was complete, we were requested to take a seat in the playground where the day’s programming was being concluded. Due to her desire to serve as the house caption, my buddy Riya was nervous. She might, however, be elected as the class monitor because of her strong academic record.

She was well aware of the difficulty of the role of class monitor. Responsibility and punctuality are required of you. But Ria possessed every one of those qualities. However, our principal arrived and began introducing each house head one by one following the hour-long event.

As the class monitor was finally announced, we heard that Ms. Riya had been chosen for Grade 6 Section 1.

So, Riya served as our class monitor when we were in sixth grade. She never failed to complete her duties, even if she didn’t want to. In the teacher’s absence, she maintained class silence. She also reminds the class of their assignments and tests. She had never shown partiality in the class although I was her friend. When she addressed everyone equally, I realized she possessed the qualities of a great leader.

She was a truly liked and supportive leader rather than a dominating one. She was recognized as the best leader and student after the semester for her commitment to her work and punctuality. We were all proud of her and delighted to see her elected in the next session.

English Essay/Paragraph/Speech on “My Class Monitor” for Kids and Students for Class 8, 9, 10, Class 12 and Graduation Examination

My Class Monitor

My name is Neha. I study in 3rd standard. There are forty students in our class. Among all Sheena is the most intelligent girl and is the monitor of our class. She is eight years old. She is a well behaved girl among all and so controls the class very well.

Our teacher says she is a very responsible girl and always does her work well. Sheena is my best friend. Our teachers have a blind faith in her and had assigned her for the daily assignments. After every class she gives us our daily assignment and checks our homework the next day. Every student feels very proud of her as she never lies to anyone. She cleans the blackboard every day before the teacher’s arrival and looks for the fine chalk and duster being placed on the table.

Once in a week we organize a conversation class. In it we learn and practice to speak English willingly.

She is very helpful to the classmates and fair in decision. Last time in the terminal examination she scored first in the class. She is very good in studies and always helps us in our difficulties. We take turns in becoming the class monitors but everyone knows that Sheena is the best!

And there besides had a job that we have about 20 misss and 10 male childs in the category. This is a small different from the U. S. because in China our authorities passed the one-child policy. most of us we don’t have sisters or brothers in the households. Our parents and grandparents they pay much more attending on us. so particularly the misss in their households. they put themselves like princess. some times the misss were really selfish and they were really small to cooperation among each other. I besides have these deficits but when I was turn up I tried to get the better of them. Some misss they did non like me. when I organized an event like spring walk I text to everybody in my category. at the terminal merely a few people came. Rest of the pupils they told me they had to complete their prep on the weekend but really they were kiping in the bed. I was angry and gloomy. but I must to coerce myself to smile because I must went on spring walk with other schoolmates. At clip I was confused why they did non like me. I tried my best to function for everybody. I did non make something ache them. why they still hated me? I was confused a long clip.

ready to help you now

Without paying upfront

I was unhappy for a long clip. before I am an outgoing miss I liked to smile to every people. in that clip I did non smile to others. My male parent is my best friend and a good hearer. I told my male parent these unhappy things. I besides told him I was regreted to be the proctor. if I did non run for proctor of this category they would non detest me. I can still had many friends. I did non do errors why so did non like me and back up me? My male parent he is a director of the company. he had much more experience than me. He taught me seek my best and set my bosom to function for every people in my category. it is really difficult to pleased everyone. it’s non easy to alter other people’s head but it’s easy to alter your head. If you have a kindness bosom everyone would experience that and understand you. Like the old Chinese stating “ as the distance tests a horse’s strength. so clip reveals a person’s bosom ” . Three old ages had gone but I still remembered my father’s stating “ Don’t believe what you will acquire when you pay out. No strivings. no additions. Just like a adage: when you give rose. aroma left in your custodies. ”

This sentence influenced me a batch. After the speaking I felt much better. I am a kindness miss I love all the schoolmates. if I went on serving them one twenty-four hours my schoolmates would experience my bosom. So I started to retrieve everybody’s birthday day of the month. and salvage my pocket money in order to purchase them a little nowadays. And I told the category commissary in charge of surveies put courseware in our class’s public electronic mail. so that it’s convenience for other people to downloaded them at any clip in any where. ( in China the professor did non direct electronic mail to pupils their courseware ) . At that clip I was really tired. in the daylight I should travel to the category. in the dark I studied in the schoolroom to complete the prep. I told myself if I want some other people respected me I must hold a better GPA than others. Then after finished prep I must to make some pupil work in residence hall. I didn’t travel to kip before 12 o’clock during that clip.

I have tried my best to studied and to serve my lovey category. Although I was tired that clip but I lived really significant at that clip. As clip goes by. more and more schoolmates they accepted me. they started to take portion in every category activities. they began to understand me. I was really happy about that. My difficult working had been deserving it. though. From so on. I was good regarded by the category. and besides I am rather proud of what I have achieved of the advancement I have made. Class work in the category has accumulated a batch of work experience and acquire to cognize a batch of schoolmates and we became best friends. In my point of position the most of import thing for the leader is “ tolerate ” . If you can digest other people. someday other people can digest you excessively.

Every tech tool in the classroom should be ruthlessly evaluated.

An illustration of students seated at desks looking on as a teacher, standing, holds a laptop in one hand and throws another laptop in a garbage can with the other hand.

By Jessica Grose

Opinion Writer

Educational technology in schools is sometimes described as a wicked problem — a term coined by a design and planning professor, Horst Rittel, in the 1960s , meaning a problem for which even defining the scope of the dilemma is a struggle, because it has so many interconnected parts that never stop moving.

When you have a wicked problem, solutions have to be holistic, flexible and developmentally appropriate. Which is to say that appropriate tech use for elementary schoolers in rural Oklahoma isn’t going to be the same as appropriate tech use in a Chicago high school.

I spent the past few weeks speaking with parents, teachers, public school administrators and academics who study educational technology. And while there are certainly benefits to using tech as a classroom tool, I’m convinced that when it comes to the proliferation of tech in K-12 education, we need “ a hard reset ,” as Julia Freeland Fisher of the Christensen Institute put it, concurring with Jonathan Haidt in his call for rolling back the “phone-based childhood.” When we recently spoke, Fisher stressed that when we weigh the benefits of ed tech, we’re often not asking, “What’s happening when it comes to connectedness and well-being?”

Well said. We need a complete rethink of the ways that we’re evaluating and using tech in classrooms; the overall change that I want to see is that tech use in schools — devices and apps — should be driven by educators, not tech companies.

In recent years, tech companies have provided their products to schools either free or cheap , and then schools have tried to figure out how to use those products. Wherever that dynamic exists, it should be reversed: Districts and individual schools should first figure out what tech would be most useful to their students, and their bar for “useful” should be set by available data and teacher experience. Only then should they acquire laptops, tablets and educational software.

As Mesut Duran — a professor of educational technology at the University of Michigan, Dearborn, and the author of “Learning Technologies: Research, Trends and Issues in the U.S. Education System” — told me, a lot of the technology that’s used in classrooms wasn’t developed with students in mind. “Most of the technologies are initially created for commercial purposes,” he said, “and then we decide how to use them in schools.”

In many cases, there’s little or no evidence that the products actually work, and “work” can have various meanings here: It’s not conclusive that tech, as opposed to hard-copy materials, improves educational outcomes. And sometimes devices or programs simply don’t function the way they’re supposed to. For example, artificial intelligence in education is all the rage, but then we get headlines like this one, in February, from The Wall Street Journal: “ We Tested an A.I. Tutor for Kids. It Struggled With Basic Math. ”

Alex Molnar, one of the directors of the National Educational Policy Center at the University of Colorado, Boulder, said that every school should be asking if the tech it’s using is both necessary and good. “The tech industry’s ethos is: If it’s doable, it is necessary. But for educators, that has to be an actual question: Is this necessary?” Even after you’ve cleared the bar of necessary, he said, educators should be asking, “Is doing it this way good, or could we do it another way that would be better? Better in the ethical sense and the pedagogical sense.”

With that necessary and good standard in mind, here are some specific recommendations that I’ve taken away from several discussions and a lot of reading. It’s unrealistic — and considering that we’re in a tech-saturated world, not ideal — to get rid of every last bit of educational technology. But we’re currently failing too many children by letting it run rampant.

At the State and Federal Levels: Privacy Protections and Better Evaluation

A complaint I heard from many public school parents who responded to my March 27 questionnaire and wanted a lower-tech environment for their kids is that they’re concerned about their children’s privacy. They couldn’t opt out of things like Google Classroom, they said, because in many cases, all of their children’s homework assignments were posted there. Molnar has a radical but elegant solution for this problem: “All data gathered must be destroyed after its intended purpose has been accomplished.” So if the intended purpose of a platform or application is grading, for example, the data would be destroyed at the end of the school year; it couldn’t be sold to a third party or used to further enhance the product or as a training ground for artificial intelligence.

Another recommendation — from a recent paper by the University of Edinburgh’s Ben Williamson, Molnar and the University of Colorado, Boulder’s Faith Boninger outlining the risks of A.I. in the classroom — is for the creation of an “independent government entity charged with ensuring the quality of digital educational products used in schools” that would evaluate tech before it is put into schools and “periodically thereafter.” Because the technology is always evolving, our oversight of it needs to be, as well.

At the District Level: Centralize the Tech-Vetting Process

Stephanie Sheron is the chief of strategic initiatives for the Montgomery County Public Schools, the largest district in Maryland, and all the district’s technology departments report to her. She likened the tech landscape, coming out of the Covid-19 pandemic remote school period, to the “Wild West.” School districts were flooded with different kinds of ed tech in an emergency situation in which teachers were desperately trying to engage their students, and a lot of relief money was pouring in from the federal government. When the dust settled, she said, the question was, “Now what do we do? How do we control this? How do we make sure that we’re in alignment with FERPA and COPPA and all of those other student data privacy components?”

To address this, Sheron said, her district has secured grant funding to hire a director of information security, who will function as the hub for all the educational technology vending and evaluate new tech. Part of the standardization that the district has been undergoing is a requirement that to be considered, curriculum vendors must offer both digital and hard-copy resources. She said her district tried to look at tech as a tool, adding: “A pencil is a tool for learning, but it’s not the only modality. Same thing with technology. We look at it as a tool, not as the main driver of the educational experience.”

At the Classroom Level: Ruthlessly Evaluate Every Tool

In my conversations with teachers, I’ve been struck by their descriptions of the cascade of tech use — that more tech is often offered as a solution to problems created by tech. For example, paid software like GoGuardian, which allows teachers to monitor every child’s screen, has been introduced to solve the problem of students goofing off on their laptops. But there’s a simple, free, low-tech solution to this problem that Doug Showley, a high school English teacher in Indiana I spoke to, employs: He makes all his students face their computer screens in his direction.

Every teacher who is concerned about tech use in his or her classroom should do a tech audit. There are several frameworks ; I like the worksheet created by Beth Pandolpho and Katie Cubano, the authors of “Choose Your Own Master Class: Urgent Ideas to Invigorate Your Professional Learning.” In the chapter “Balancing Technology Use in the Classroom,” they suggest that teachers list every tech tool they are using and evaluate its specific functions, asking, “Are these novel or duplicative?” They also encourage teachers to write out a defense of the tool and the frequency of use.

I like these questions because they make clear that the solutions are not going to be one size fits all.

Students Deserve Authentic Connection

As I close out this series, I want to return to what Fisher said about the importance of student connection and well-being. Of course academic outcomes matter. I want our kids to learn as much about as many different topics as they can. I care about falling test scores and think they’re an important piece of data.

But test scores are only one kind of information. A key lesson we should have learned from 2020 and ’21 is that school is about so much more than just academics. It’s about socialization, critical thinking, community and learning how to coexist with people who are different from you. I don’t know that all of these are things that can be tracked in a scientific way, which brings me back to the idea of tech in schools as a wicked problem: These aren’t easily measurable outcomes.

Jeff Frank, a professor of education at St. Lawrence University, expresses a sense that I’ve had very well in a paper , “Sounding the Call to Teach in a Social Media Age: Renewing the Importance of Philosophy in Teacher Education.” He says students are “hungry for experiences that make them feel alive and authentically connected to other people and to deeper sources of value. Though filtering and managing life through technologies offers safety, predictability and a sense of control, it also leads to life that can feel extremely small, constraining and lonely. Teaching can offer a powerful way to pierce this bubble.”

Ultimately, I believe the only way kids will be able to find that deeper meaning is through human relationships with their peers and teachers, no matter how shiny an A.I. tutor appears to be at first blush.
