Thaggede Le review: A hotchpotch of crime stories with an entertainment angle

This Naveen Chandra-starrer looks more like a sequel to the ‘Dandupalya’ series created by director Srinivas Raju.

Director Srinivas Raju, who is known for the Dandupalya series, came up with Thaggede Le this Friday, 4 November. It features an ensemble cast: Naveen Chandra, Ananya Sen Gupta, Divya Pillai, Ravi Shankar and Pooja Gandhi.

Can this crime thriller keep the audience engaged? South First gives a peek into Thaggede Le ’s world of crime:

The police arrest Eshwar (Naveen Chandra) suspecting him of murdering a woman. To prove his innocence, Eshwar narrates his life and past incidents to police officers Chalapati (Ravi Shankar) and Raja (Raja Rabindra).

A software engineer, Eshwar meets Lizzy (Ananya Sen Gupta) at a yogi’s ashram. Both get into a no-strings-attached relationship and part ways after their stay at the ashram. Later, he marries his cousin Devi (Divya Pillai).

But Eshwar’s life takes a tumultuous turn when Lizzy returns to his life and forces him to have a relationship with her, even after knowing that he is married.

Lizzy even blackmails Eshwar with their intimate videos. Why she blackmails Eshwar and how is Eshwar connected with the murder make for an interesting watch.

Besides Eshwar’s story, a parallel story runs in the movie where a group of deadly dacoits escape from police custody to kill police officer Chalapati.

Dandupalya hangover

Director Srinivas Raju, who shot to fame with Dandupalya crime dramas, once again banked on crime in Thaggede Le .

He simultaneously narrates three different crime tracks in the movie and keeps the audience guessing as to how all three are connected.

While the screenplay keeps the viewers interested, it also appears forced. At times, the film appears to be an overdose of sleaze and gore.

It seems Srinivas Raju wanted to make another sequel to the Dandupalya series, but instead of solely banking on crime, added an entertaining angle to the plot.

Thaggede Le features the Dandupalya gang and their rivalry with police officer Ravi Shankar. As the film progresses, one even wonders whether they are watching a new movie or one of the Dandupalya series.

Artists’ performances

Naveen Chandra is the protagonist in Thaggede Le and he is fine. Ananya Sen Gupta and Divya Pillai are the female leads and both have equal importance. They both did well.

But the actor who takes the cake is Ravi Shankar. He impresses as a wild and fearless police officer. Raja Ravindra also appears in a key role.

All the Dandupalya actors including Pooja Gandhi, Makarand Deshpande, and Ravi Kale feature in important roles.

Action choreography & other craft

Being a crime drama, Thaggede Le features several action sequences. The climax fight is quite impressive. Though it goes overboard, the director and the artists have executed a tough job.

Charan Arjun’s background score and songs are adequate. The cinematography and the art direction are in tune with the crime drama genre.

Thaggede Le is a crime thriller which excessively features sleaze and gore. This is for those who are interested in Dandupalya -like movies.

Thaggede Le story is about a murder investigation that revolves around nabbing of a drug lord. SI Chalapathy (Ravi Shankar) and his subordinate Raja (Raja Raveendra) bring Easwar (Naveen Chandra) , a software engineer to a Daba and start interrogating him over a murder case. Even as they are busy with their interrogation, the drug mafia is furious with the missing cartel and the dreaded Dandupalyam gang comprising gang leader Krishna (Makarand Desh Pande), Lakshmi (Pooja Gandhi), Chander (Ravi Kale), and others escape. Where this leads to and what is the connection to the murder mystery and how they are related to Eswar's wife Devi (Divya Pillai), Lizy (Ananaya SenGupta) form the crux of Thaggede Le.

Thaggede Le’s plot revolves around the life of software engineer Eshwar (Naveen Chandra), who crosses paths with a girl named Liza (Ananya Raj) at a party.

Naveen Chandra ticks all the boxes right with his portrayal of Eshwar.

Filmmaker Srinivas Raju made his directorial debut in the Telugu film industry with the newly-released crime thriller Thaggede Le. He has previously directed two Kannada crime thrillers, Dandupalya and Dandupalya 2, which were received well by the masses. So, what does Srinivas’s latest offering have in store for the audiences?

Naveen Chandra and Divya Pillai play the lead roles in the movie. Ananya Raj, Naina Ganguly, Ravi Shankar, Naga Babu, Ayyappa Sharma, Raja Raveendar, Pooja Gandhi, Ravi Kale, and Makarand Deshpande have played pivotal roles in the movie. The film has been produced by N Akhilesh Reddy, Prem Kumar Pandey and PV Subba Reddy. The movie was released in theatres on November 4 and it’s getting a good response.

Thaggede Le’s plot revolves around the life of software engineer Eshwar (Naveen Chandra), who crosses paths with a girl named Liza (Ananya Raj) at a party. The duo soon becomes close and ends up getting physically intimate with each other. While Eshwar wishes to take their casual relationship forward, Liza doesn’t reciprocate his emotions and eventually rejects him. Eshwar then decides to move on in life and ties the nuptial knot with Devi (Divya Pillai). However, his life takes an unexpected turn with Liza’s return, which leads to several complications in his marriage with Devi.

Acting Performances

Naveen Chandra ticks all the boxes right with his portrayal of Eshwar. His exemplary performance is one of the highlights of Thaggede Le. He perfectly enacted the nuances of his character, who is traumatised by his ex-lover Liza. Divya Pillai and Ananya Raj managed to pull off their respective characters efficiently too. Apart from the lead actors, the film’s supporting cast, including Makarand Deshpande, Ravi Shankar and Pooja Gandhi, also puts forth an impressive performance. However, comedians Getup Srinu and Auto Ramprasad appear in blink-and-you-miss-it appearances with no prominent contribution to the plot.

Technical Aspects

Team Thaggede Le does a decent job on the technical front. The visuals captured by cinematographer Venkat Prasad are mesmerising while Charan Arjun also does a commendable job with the film’s background score. However, Garry BH could have left some of the scenes on the editing desk, which could have made Thaggede Le a more slick and entertaining film.

What Works?

Naveen Chandra, Divya Pillai and Ananya Raj’s performances make it a riveting watch. The film’s spectacular visuals are also to marvel at. The action sequences in the film are choreographed well.

What Doesn’t Work?

The makers have nothing novel to offer to the audience in terms of Thaggede Le’s plot. The film’s screenplay is a total hit and a miss. The crime thriller’s far-fetched logic may make you giggle instead of sending chills down your spine.

Taggede Le is a small budget film that has been released today. The film stars Naveen Chandra in a lead role and is a romantic drama. Let’s see how it is.

Eshwar(Naveen Chandra) is a software engineer who meets a girl named Liza(Ananya Raj) at a party. He becomes close to her in no time and has a physical relationship with her. Eshwar decides to take this affair seriously but Liza rejects him and moves away. After a while, Eshwar gets married to Devi(Divya Pillai) and starts living a new life. But things change when Liza comes back and creates new headaches for Eshwar. The rest of the story is as to how Eshwar handles this tricky situation.

Plus Points:

One of the biggest highlights of the film is the action episodes featuring the Dandupalyam batch. It has been showcased quite well. Ravi Shankar plays the cop role and he was amazing. His performance in the pre climax was outstanding. Naveen Chandra was also impressive in his sincere role.

Makrand Deshpande and Pooja Gandhi were superb in their respective roles. Divya Pillai was also impressive in her small yet effective role. Ananya Raj was also good in her stylish role and her expressions were good in key scenes. The conflict point looks interesting in the film.

Minus Points:

There is absolutely no connection between the film and its title. Director Srinivasa Raju starts the film on a very slow note and takes forever to come to the main conflict point. The first half is quite slow and has no thrills which is expected of a murder mystery. Logics go for a toss in the second half

The film has good twists but they have not been executed well. The screenplay is a villain as the key scenes do not create much impact on the audience. There are so many subplots which are not handled well. The key characters have a single emotion and this does not gel with the film one bit.

Technical Aspects:

Camera work in this film is one of the highlights. Music by Charan Arjun was also decent. But his BGM was even better. The dialogues and production design were okay. Coming to the director Srinivasa Raju, his storyline looks interesting on paper but the manner in which his screenplay was etched disappoints the audience. The thrill factor is missing in the film.

On the whole, Taggede Le is a film which has an interesting backdrop but is spoiled by dull screenplay and lack of thrill factor. The performances are good but the other factors like narration and lack of strong scenes disappoint the audience big time.

What's Behind

Thaggede Le movie has been attracting the attention of all as the movie is titled after Allu Arjun's popular dialogue Thaggede Le from the blockbuster film Pushpa The Rise. To The top of it the film is directed by Srinivas Raju of Dandupalyam raising interest levels. The film which is releasing on November 4 stars Naveen Chandra in the lead role. The film's OTT streaming partner will be announced later. Let us find out what treat Thaggede Le gave to viewers.

Story Review

Thaggede Le story is about a murder investigation that revolves around nabbing of a drug lord. Artists, Technicians Review

Thaggede Le's story readied by Srinivas Raju shows that he is keen to continue the franchise Dandupalyam in some way or the other. He came up with an interesting story and connected it to the Dandupalyam gang. Though the idea is right he failed in his execution. He left many loopholes and missing dots in the first half.  There are a few interesting twists and turns and the way he ends the lives of the Dandupalyam gang is appreciable. But the story and the screenplay is not racy and the direction left a lot to be desired. Dialogues are powerful and impactful most of the time.

Ravi Shankar showed his acting prowess by showing the right kind of expressions and emotions. The way he enacted the breathtaking stunts showing ferocious expressions and intensity drive the masses crazy in the pre-climax.

Naveen Chandra did well in the role tailor-made for him. He played the role of an innocent software engineer who as a youngster craves for happiness in the company of beautiful women. There is nothing much to do for him in the film except come up with singular expressions and act in a few romantic scenes with the female leads.

Raja Ravindra is ok in the role of another police officer. Dandupalyam gang Pooja Gandhi, Makarandh Deshpande, and Ravi Kale shocked all with their ferocious and menacing ways on screen. Ananya Sengupta drove all crazy with her red hot and sensuous glamor treat. Divya Pillai is good in the role of a traditional housewife. Naina Ganguly sizzled in a special song to entertain the masses.

Charan Arjun's music is good. Few songs are sensuous. Chinna's background music elevated the scenes. The cinematography of Venkat Prasad gave a rich feel to the film. BH. Garry's editing could have been far better as there are many drags in the first half. Production values are good.

Rating Analysis

Altogether, Thaggede Le turns out to be a routine entertainer. Srinivas Raju came up with an interesting story for Thaggede Le and he starts off in the right earnest. But by running the parallel narration, he at times missed the connectivity. This resulted in confusion at times. Had Srinivas Raju worked on the story, screenplay, and direction and cut short the romantic angle which slowed the pace of the film, the impact would have been more powerful. Considering all these elements, Cinejosh goes with a 1 rating for Thaggede Le.

Naveen Chandra’s first solo movie in a while, Thaggedhe Le, has been released today. Let’s see how the film has turned out to be.

Thaggede Le is about a man who gets mixed up with people connected to drugs unexpectedly, and then meets Inspector Chalapathi, for whom the Dandupalyam batch are out on a vengeance to kill, because he got them locked up. What is the connection between all of these people, and what happens ultimately forms the rest of the story.

On-Screen Performances:

Naveen Chandra is perfect in his role, and carries out his role quite well, emoting appropriately in every scene. He stands his ground even when paired with much senior actors.

Ravi Shankar steals the show with his performance, especially in the pre-climax, where his interaction with the Dandupalyam batch turns out to be the major highlight of the entire film. He perfectly carries out his role.

The two leading ladies are good enough in their roles. Divya Pillai especially does her part quite well, as the innocent and loving wife. The rest of the supporting cast is good in their roles.

Special mention to the Dandupalyam cast, who carry out their characters very well throughout the film, keeping the universe of Dandupalyam completely intact.

Off-Screen Talent:

Director Srinivasa Raju seems to have given a befitting end to his Dandupalyam series, with the death of the Dandupalyam batch in the film. Thaggedhe Le is a well-written script but could have been a lot better, as there are many areas where the film lags, especially in the first half.

The background score by Chinna is good, aiding the scenes appropriately. The camera work by Venkat Prasad is also good enough.

The production design is adequate, but the editing of the film could have been a lot better, especially in the first half.

Plus Points:

• Ravi Shankar’s performance
• Pre-climax fight

Minus Points:

• Lag in the first half
• Lack of proper connection between the narratives

Verdict: Thaggede Le is a mildly entertaining action thriller at best, with parts of it more interesting than the rest.. The latter half of the film would cater very well to fans of Dandupalyam, and for the rest of the audience, it is just passable.

కథ మర్డర్, డ్రగ్స్, లవ్  వంటి మూడు కథలతో ఈ సినిమా సాగుతుంది. ఈశ్వర్ (నవీన్ చంద్ర) సాఫ్ట్‌వేర్ ఉద్యోగి. మేనత్త కుమార్తె దేవి (దివ్యా పిళ్ళై)ని పెళ్లి చేసుకుంటాడు. ఆ తరువాత  ఫ్రెండ్స్ అందరినీ ఇంటికి పిలిచి పార్టీ ఇస్తాడు. ఆ పార్టీలో లిజి (అనన్యా సేన్ గుప్తా)ను చూసి ఈశ్వర్ షాక్ అవుతాడు. ఆ తర్వాత తాను ఈశ్వర్ ఫ్రెండ్‌గా పరిచయం చేసుకున్న లిజి ఈశ్వర్ ఇంట్లో ఉంటూ... అంతకుముందు తనతో  దిగిన  ఫొటోలతో ఈశ్వర్‌ను బ్లాక్ మెయిల్ చేయడం స్టార్ట్ చేస్తుంది. ఈ క్రమంలో ఈశ్వర్‌ ఇంట్లో మహిళ శవం దొరుకుతుంది. అప్పటివరకు దండుపాళ్యం బ్యాచ్‌తో ఈశ్వర్‌కు సంబంధం ఉందని అనుమానపడుతున్న పోలీసులకు అతడి ఇంట్లో శవం దొరకడంతో కథ మరో మలుపు తిరుగుతుంది. ఆ అమ్మాయిని ఈశ్వర్ చంపాడనే  అనుమానంతో  పోలీస్ ఆఫీసర్ చలపతి(రవి శంకర్), రాజా రవీంద్ర  ఇంటరాగేషన్ చెయ్యాలని అరెస్ట్ చేస్తారు.ఈ ఇంటరాగేషన్‌లో ఈశ్వర్ ద్వారా తెలుసుకున్న నిజాలు  ఏమిటి? ఆ అమ్మాయిని  ఎవరు హత్య చేశారు? ఆ  హత్య నుంచి అతడు ఎలా బయట పడ్డాడు? ఈశ్వర్ జీవితానికి, దండుపాళ్యం గ్యాంగుకు, డ్రగ్స్ మాఫియాకు ఉన్న సంబంధం ఏమిటి? పోలీస్ ఆఫీసర్ చలపతి (రవి శంకర్) దండుపాళ్యం గ్యాంగ్‌ను, డ్రగ్ మాఫియాను ఏం చేశాడు? అనేది తెలుసు కోవాలంటే సినిమా చూడాల్సిందే..

నటీ నటుల పనితీరు  సాఫ్ట్‌వేర్ ఉద్యోగి పాత్రలో నవీన్ చంద్ర, హీరో భార్య గా దివ్యా పిళ్ళై బాగా నటించారు. నవీన్ చంద్ర ప్రియురాలిగా అనన్యా సేన్ గుప్తా గ్లామర్ డాల్‌గా కనిపించారు. భార్యకు, ప్రియురాలికి మధ్య  నలిగిపోయే ఎమోషన్ పాత్రలో నవీన్ చంద్ర ఆకట్టుకున్నాడు. సినిమా ఎక్కువ భాగం నవీన్ చంద్ర  చుట్టూ తిరుగుతుంది. పోలీస్ ఆఫీసర్‌గా రవిశంకర్,  డాక్టర్ సమరంగా '30 ఇయర్స్' పృథ్వీ వారి పాత్రలకు న్యాయం చేశారు. 'పోలీస్‌గా రాజా రవీంద్ర,. 'దండుపాళ్యం' గ్యాంగ్ సభ్యులుగా మకరంద్ దేశ్‌పాండే, పూజా గాంధీ, రవి కాలె మరోసారి ప్రేక్షకులను ఆకట్టుకున్నారు. హీరో స్నేహితులుగా 'గెటప్' శీను, 'ఆటో' రామ్ ప్రసాద్‌లు తమ కామెడీతో నవ్వించే ప్రయత్నం చేశారు.

సాంకేతిక నిపుణుల పనితీరు ఈ కథ కొత్తదేమీ కాదు. కాకపోతే మర్డర్‌ మిస్టరీ, డ్రగ్స్‌, లవ్‌.. ఇలా మూడు ఇంట్రెస్టింగ్ పాయింట్స్‌ను సెలక్ట్ చేసుకొని ట్విస్టులు టర్నులతో సినిమాను తెరకెక్కించాడు డైరెక్టర్‌ శ్రీనివాస్‌ రాజు. క్లెమాక్స్‌లో దండుపాళ్యం గ్యాంగ్, నవీన్ చంద్ర, రవి శంకర్, అయ్యప్ప, పూజా గాంధీలపై చిత్రీకరించిన సన్నివేశాలు ప్రేక్షకులకు ఉత్కంఠకు గురి చేస్తాయి. దండుపాళ్యం సినిమాకు మించిన యాక్షన్ సీన్స్‌ ఉన్నాయి. అలాగే వయలెన్స్‌కు కూడా మరీ ఎక్కువ మోతాదులో ఉంది. సినిమాకు అదే మైనస్‌గా మారింది. నేపథ్య సంగీతం బాగుంది. చరణ్ అర్జున్ చేసిన ఇళయరాజా - భారతిరాజాల 'మాటే మంత్రము' సాంగ్ రీమిక్స్‌ ఆకట్టుకుంది. సినిమాటోగ్రాఫర్ వెంకట్ ప్రసాద్ అందించిన విజువల్స్ బాగున్నాయి. గ్యారీ బి. హెచ్ కొన్ని సీన్లను ఎడిటింగ్‌లో తీసేయాల్సింది. ఒక్క మాటలో చెప్పాలంటే వయొలెన్స్‌ ఇష్టపడేవారు తగ్గేదే లే చూసి ఎంజాయ్‌ చేయొచ్చు.

Thaggedhe Le Movie Review And Rating

Eshwar (Naveen Chandra) works for a software firm and he is a happy-go-lucky kind of person. One day, he reaches a private place to enjoy himself with friends and he comes across Leeza (Ananya Raj) there. It eventually turns into a relationship. But, after they get together physically, she leaves him. Some dramatic events take place in between when Naveen Chandra marries Devi (Divya Pillai). And then, Leeza makes an entry back into his life. Why did she come back? What does she want? What changes does Eshwar's life undergo? What happens in the end? Forms the story of the movie.

Performances:

The performances of the actors are one of the big highlights of the film. The film features top-class performances from everyone. Ravi Shankar who played the cop is amazing in the film. At the same time, the Dandupalyam batch did well too. When it comes to the lead pair, Naveen Chandra was also impressive in his sincere role. He is at his usual best. On the other hand, the female leads also gave their best to the film. Makrand Deshpande and Pooja Gandhi were superb in the roles given to them and so are Divya Pillai and Ananya Raj. The rest of the cast made their presence felt.

Technical Aspects:

Technically, the film is top-notch. Everyone worked hard to generate the best output that can be visible on the screen. The camera work is excellent. The cinematography has come out well. The actors look great on the screen. The music is okay as the audio album failed to impress but the background score is stunning. The dialogues and production design were okay. The storyline is impressive. The conversations are good. The thrilling elements will excite the audience.

The film has got multiple interesting elements and a couple of flaws which can be happily ignored. The makers are successful in catching the attention of the audience from the title itself. The conflict of the film could have been more convincing. The first half could be a bit more gripping. Other than that, there is nothing to point out. The film has good twists, and they were executed well. The screenplay is extremely good. It creates a big impact on the audience and keeps them hooked to their seats. The plots and the subplots are etched well. The backdrop is a big plus for the film and the narration is good too. On the whole, Taggede Le is a perfect commercial potboiler with an engaging story. The film is 'Taggede Le' in terms of entertaining the audiences. Go watch it.

Review of the film Thaggedele: This suspenseful drama is not for the weak of heart

Inspector Chellappa is poised to expose the city’s drug cartel and is waiting for the right opportunity. Meanwhile, a businessman gets involved in the drug trade and later turns out to be a suspect in a murder investigation. At the same time, the Dandupalyam D-gang makes a brutal comeback. Who was the murderer? Did the gang exact their retribution? It is necessary to observe on the screen how everyone ends up in the same location.

Review: Thaggede Le doesn’t seem to hold anything back, recalling a famous line from Pushpa: The Rise. With the exception of the conclusion, the majority of the movie takes place over the course of one day as the characters recount what happened. Dandupalyam 3 left off where Thaggede Le picks up, adding modern living and drugs to the mix. When a doctor counsels his friend to travel to paradise—which the three of them do—Naveen Chandra’s character encounters paradise. When Naveen first meets Julia, aka Lizy, the movie’s first half is exciting and steamy. Everyone receives a blue colour mixture that induces a trance-like state in them.

Once more, Naveen Chandra puts on a strong performance. The work of Divya Pillai and Ananya Raj was excellent. The most important part of the film was played by Ravi Shankar as Chellappa. The other cast members are Makrandh Deshpande, Ravi Kale, Naga Babu, Ayyappa Sharma, Pooja Gandhi, Raja Raveendar, and Naina Ganguly. The movie was helmed by Srinivas Raju, with music by Charan Arjun, editing by Garry BH, and DoP by Venkat Prasad.

Sadly, despite the actors’ best efforts, the screenplay could have been stronger and more interesting. The film Thaggede Le, which also stars Naveen Chandra, Divya Pillai, Ananya Raj, Naina Ganguly, and Ravi Shankar and was directed by Srinivas Raju of Dandupalyam fame, is a mixed bag. The movie manages to entertain and thrill viewers in some instances despite being loaded with graphic violence, foul language, and daring romance. It is not, however, for the weak of heart.

Taggade Le: Allu Arjun Ready to Fight with Megastar!

In the past, we have seen two different camps of stars fighting for a release date. But now, two heroes of mega camp are competing for a date.

Allu Arjun has been insisting that his upcoming film, Pushpa The Rise, will hit the screens on December 17 at any cost. “Taggede Le”, he is uttering while declaring the date. 

Meanwhile, Megastar Chiranjeevi and Ram Charan starrer “Acharya” has finally decided to hit the theaters for Christmas. December 24th is the date the makers have locked for it.

Chiranjeevi and the producer of “Acharya” expected that Allu Arjun would change his date to pave for their film.

It has been the norm in the mega camp that whenever a Chiranjeevi starrer comes, other mega heroes change their dates and give free way to the original star of their camp. But Allu Arjun doesn’t want to change the date.

The team of “Acharya” is also not bothering about Allu Arjun’s tactics. They will announce the date as December 24 shortly.

The title of the movie is derived from a well-known exchange from Pushpa (2021). From the Dandupalya film series, P. Ravi Shankar, Ravi Kale, Makarand Deshpande, and Pooja Gandhi return to their respective roles. Hubli Dhaba is the Kannada dubbing of the film.
