At TROY, we are intentionally international, striving to offer a uniquely global doctorate degree in leadership. We not only bring a worldwide focus to the coursework, but we also put your focus on the world and help you develop international leadership skills through first-hand experiences.  As part of your global leadership coursework, you’ll travel to a country outside of the United States to meet and learn from the leaders who are changing the world. You’ll gain direct experience confronting the challenges facing international organizations and a mentor, guide and coach who will help prepare you to succeed in the international marketplace. To arrange the internship, you’ll work with a faculty advisor to identify an opportunity that aligns with your skill set and dissertation interests. Examples of the internship include shadowing a senior leader in a commercial firm or international organization; working on a project for a commercial firm, nonprofit or government agency; attending a faculty practicum seminar; or designing your own immersive experience (under the direction of your advisor).

As we experience global and social change within personal and professional environments, the Tiffin University Global Leadership and Change program examines two essential questions:

  • How can we help individuals and organizations navigate the stages of global change and develop an understanding of cultural uniqueness?
  • How can we provide special attention to individuals who are struggling with change?

The program will explore, identify and examine innovation and change strategies to prepare students to become strong leaders in the global context. Key elements of the curriculum include globalization, individual and group behaviors, organizational cultural and change, systems thinking, innovation, cross-cultural communication and social responsibility.

Students graduate with well-developed skills in global leadership, critical thinking, academic writing, and qualitative and quantitative research method understanding and application.

Each professor within the program is a recognized content expert within the course that they teach. Within the curriculum, faculty will assist you in the examination and implementation of the skills necessary to write and publish professional papers for international conferences. As the culminating project, you (while being mentored by your professor) will write and prepare a non-empirical paper for submission to a peer reviewed conference, hopefully launching your academic publishing career.

It is your responsibility to initiate the degree conferral application process by submitting an online application. Submitting an application means you intend to finish your degree requirements by the end of the term for which you have applied.

Graduate students must be approved for student teaching and complete student teaching, seminar, and induction courses to be cleared for the degree. Student must submit graduation application for the quarter you are completing the final course (student teaching is considered a course).

After you submit the application, you cannot register for any term after the one selected in the application.

Provided that all requirements and financial obligations are met, degrees are posted 30 days after the official end of the term. Official dates are listed on the Academic Calendar.

Mission Statement

Our mission is to develop global leaders in scholarship and practice who collaborate with diverse teams to analyze and solve complex problems transcending cultural and geographical borders. The program inspires a scholarly curiosity to synthesize and globally share findings and solutions that draw from both theoretical backgrounds and practical experiences in a spirit of virtue .

The vision of the Ph.D. in Global Leadership is to create an international community of global leaders who embrace a deep understanding of the global environment by focusing on human values and growth to make a positive impact on the world .

Value Statement

Based on the tradition of Saint Mother Theodore Guerin and her approach to Virtus Cum Scientia ( Virtue with Knowledge United ), the Ph.D. Program in Global Leadership creates an environment where students can develop both local and global leadership identities that empower them to be catalysts for positive change in their own and global communities . Global leadership is a complex phenomenon, encompassing an ability to perceive and adapt to cultural nuances; to be morally resilient during uncertainty, and embrace “virtue” and core values while leading positive global change. The mission focuses on two interrelated perspectives: Scholarly and Practitioner . Both perspectives are threaded throughout the curriculum because the career pathway needs both the scholar and the practitioner to leverage interdisciplinary knowledge to solve complex challenges the world faces today and tomorrow.

Overview and Curriculum

Created for leaders holding a master’s degree and having at least three years’ field experience doing missiology or intercultural work, the Doctor of Global Leadership (DGL) is a four-year program consisting of annual nine-month modules representing the major stages of completing an applied research dissertation. The modules require an average time commitment of 12–16 hours per week. Guided by expert faculty practitioners, DGL students apply missiological and theological principles to a specific need for change in their ministry context, engaging in research that culminates in a contextually applied dissertation with a robust action plan.

Please note that this program is currently pending authorization for online studies in some US states. Please contact [email protected] for more specific information about authorization in your state.

I started at Fuller in 2012 to work on my Master's of Arts in Theology degree. Following graduation, I continued my educational journey and am now in the 4th year of my PhD program here in Theology. At the same time, I began my position as an admissions advisor for the DMin program in 2014 and am now the advisor for both the DMin and the Doctor of Global Leadership program. Oftentimes, students to the DMin and DGL program come because they are at a crossroads in their ministry – they may have a recurring issue in ministry or may feel stuck or are seeking further training beyond what they have received. Students also often come with the hurts often associated with ministry. Seeing the empowerment, the retooling, and even the healing that comes with the degrees is something I believe in and am proud to be a part of. I look forward to discerning next steps with you!

Become a knowledgeable and innovative leader

This unique and exciting doctoral program prepares you to be a knowledgeable and innovative leader capable of effectively addressing the world’s most challenging and complex public health problems.

The three-year, cohort-based distance program is designed for diverse professionals working full time in field-based settings around the world. Classes are delivered in real time via internet video. You will meet face-to-face for a few days three times per year in years one and two of the program.

See the admissions criteria and apply »

Let us know your interests and how we can help you »

Most in-person sessions take place in Indianapolis, Indiana; other times, the program meets elsewhere in the U.S. or around the world. You will complete dissertations or field-based, culminating projects in year three.

Some international scholars admitted into the DrPH program may need visas to enter the United States for the three short residential visits in years one and two. For those who require it, the Office of International Affairs assists with issuance of a form I-20 required for an F-1 visa.

Annual lecture

The DrPH program hosts an annual lecture to launch the executive visit in August. Previously, the program welcomed Dr. Ken Coburn who presented "Advanced Preventive Care for chronically ill older adults; a 19-year innovation story told in reverse order."

Who will benefit from this program?

drph-course.JPG

A hallmark of the program is the diversity of backgrounds, experiences, and geographic locations of our scholars. Our goal is to admit cohorts of scholars who are as different from each other as possible, since diverse cohorts of learners inspire each other to think creatively.

Successful applicants will, at minimum, have strong academic records, a master’s degree (not necessarily in public health), and leadership experience in positions with substantial management responsibility in varied public health settings.

We admit scholars into two separate cohorts each year depending on level of experience. Mid- to senior-level practitioners with at least several years of experience post-master’s degree in positions with substantial management responsibility comprise an advanced cohort of 12-15 scholars.

A second cohort of up to 25 scholars who are more junior, with at least a few years of experience post-master’s degree in positions with substantial management responsibility, comprise a cohort of emerging leaders.

For both cohorts, we seek individuals who aspire to practice-oriented careers and leadership roles in organizations in which they can have maximum influence on the public’s health.

A focus on leadership development

The program builds on a successful University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill model that Dr. Suzanne Babich helped to design and which she led and refined for 10 years. Leadership skills are cultivated in the program through diverse experiences and exposure to a wide range of perspectives.

Learning is achieved experientially, through highly interactive debates and discussions. Rich exchanges happen in real time, regardless of where in the world scholars are located.

With the Fairbanks School of Public Health program, we have adapted this model, expanding and updating it to offer unique advantages, including:

  • Global curriculum. All courses are internationalized. Competencies gained are applicable whether individuals live and work in Indiana, the U.S., or anywhere in the world.
  • Global faculty. In addition to U.S.-based faculty, program faculty include international experts based in other parts of the world.
  • Global network. The program leverages relationships with other schools and programs, with opportunities to collaborate with faculty and scholars around the world.

Curriculum and competencies

All DrPH candidates must satisfactorily complete a 45 credit, online curriculum. The doctoral program in global health leadership (DrPH) competencies are aligned with the CEPH foundational competencies. P rogram graduates are expected to apply a global perspective to their mastery of all program competencies .

Any PhD in a Business field should certainly be an important and fruitful investment. However, such an advanced degree in Financial Management can open unique doors in specialized companies. To rise to Senior Management in such a company, you will most likely require a degree at the PhD level. Financial Management specialists often find opportunities as policymakers and consultants as well.

The PhD program offers students the highest degree of scholarship with coursework that challenges them to think about specializations within organizational leadership. Many PhD programs require 30% or more course credits to graduate, and you have to prove a dissertation to show your research and in-depth knowledge of your specialization.

You can earn any of the following degrees:

  • PhD in Non-Profit Management
  • PhD in Special Education Leadership
  • PhD in Education – Leadership, Policy and Change
  • PhD in Education – Adult Education Leadership
  • PhD in Education – Community College Leadership
  • PhD in Education – K-12 Education Leadership

Students who earn a PhD will likely go on to work in education as a professor, or they may become consultants or human resource directors. There are many opportunities within the field for those who have a PhD, but typically, students will head into research rather than move into the field.

Opting for a PhD also means that you have completed the required coursework and achieved a higher GPA to get into the program. There are typically 60 or more credit hours required to complete a PhD leadership program. Students typically need at least a 3.0 GPA to qualify as a candidate for a PhD.

Some specializations include business administration, healthcare administration, education, human resources, mission leadership, entrepreneurial leadership, and higher education roles.

DBA in Leadership Programs

employees doing strategic planning

For those who want to enhance their business administration skills and advance to executive management roles, a Doctor of Business Administration (DBA) may be a good degree option. A DBA can help students learn about strategic planning, statistical approaches to business, financial accounting, supervision theory, and creative management.

The key to a DBA is your specialization. You may be thinking about entrepreneurship or perhaps you want to go into executive leadership. Your coursework will define how you approach a DBA and what career paths will be best suited for your major. A DBA typically requires 40-60 credit hours, and while it’s not as rigorous as a PhD, students in this specialization still conduct research and take on residencies to complete the program.

Students who want to earn a DBA program must earn their undergraduate degree in a related field, maintain a 3.0 GPA on average, and propose a dissertation based on their research. Graduates typically earn their DBAs faster than a PhD due to fewer credit hours and research needs.

EdD in Leadership Programs

university professor teaching college students

The Doctor of Education, or EdD , offers students the chance to work in K-12 educational settings, as well as universities. It’s up to the student how far they take their specialization, but many students design their EdD programs around teaching and working with other students.

With specific learning theories, students often go on to become skilled teachers who have a strong background in higher education administration and educational psychology. Depending on your specialization, you can pursue one of these degrees:

  • Doctor of Education – Educational Leadership
  • Doctor of Education – Leadership in Higher Education
  • Doctor of Education – Organizational Leadership
  • Doctor of Education – Administrator Leadership for Teaching & Learning
  • Doctor of Education – Reading and Literacy Leadership
  • Doctor of Education – Teacher Leadership

The EdD program is usually the fastest of all doctoral leadership degrees. This is mainly because it typically doesn’t require as many credit hours. Students typically finish their degrees in less than three years after taking 40 to 45 credit hours. The coursework is designed to students to become advanced educators with skills in administration and diverse learning theories.

Students who want to advance their leadership abilities can research different specializations in higher education and complete a dissertation to graduate.

Most students who want an EdD already work in education as a teacher or administrator, but they may choose to focus on a new area to advance their careers. Some teachers choose to get an EdD in organizational leadership and school law or human resource management. The choice depends on the student and what’s desirable for their career path.

Should I Get My Doctorate in Leadership?

Whether it’s a company or school, organizations need talented leaders who know how to organize a project and successfully complete it. Students with online PhD’s in Leadership often go on to incredibly dynamic roles in administration and higher education, where they can truly excel as leaders.

They may take on roles in which they are able to build teams and strategically plan projects, or they may want to take on a role in higher education working with other research students.

If you decide to get a doctorate in leadership, you may want to opt for a DBA or EdD as they are typically faster programs and easier to get into than a PhD program. This is mainly because a PhD program usually requires that you have multiple years of experience as a working professional, and there are more credit hours required.

Most students will also have to complete residency courses and attend on-campus meetings for hands-on classroom knowledge. It’s important to know what specialization you want to focus on, as it can help you decide on coursework and a career path for after you graduate.

What Can I Do with a Doctorate in Leadership?

different professions for doctorate in leadership

There are endless fields to study with a doctorate in leadership. You may want to go into business, or perhaps you want to be an advanced educator at the professorial level. Earning a leadership degree is just the first step in working in a management role and moving into administration.

Most leadership degrees teach students about practical problems that face teachers in the classroom or how to work together with different teams at a business. Leaders must be organized and apply theories of policy and organization to keep everyone on task.

Some of the careers most popular for leadership degree graduates include:

  • Executive management
  • Postsecondary education administrator
  • Human resources manager
  • Financial manager
  • Public relations manager
  • Non-profit manager
  • Marketing manager
  • Project manager
  • Training and development manager

As these jobs are expected to grow through the next ten years, it’s clear that students will likely have all the control when it comes to picking their specialization. They may choose to go into product development, finance, marketing, human resources, education, or healthcare administration, which makes it a diverse degree to earn for anyone who wants to pursue a potentially six-figure administration position.

Are Online Doctorate Degrees in Leadership Respected?

happy female applicant hired in a job

There is a common misconception that just because degrees are earned online that they won’t be considered “as good as” a degree earned on a physical campus. However, there’s usually no distinction between degrees earned at a traditional university or via an online program.

Students may earn the same doctoral degrees at an online institution as they would at a physical university in their hometowns.

The benefits of an online doctoral program outweigh the need for an Ivy League college, as you can typically earn a degree in less time, pay less for the degree, and learn everything you need to go onto become a successful education administer.

Can You Earn a PhD in Leadership Entirely Online?

female student studying in a cafe

There are many online programs that offer exclusively online PhD programs. The question is whether you get the same value as a physical on-campus course or a hybrid course that may require a few visits to campus.

The answer is that students have to decide what their best options are for attending classes. If you work full-time or live far away from campus, you may decide that the online program is the perfect blend of convenience and professional degree programs.

Some programs may also seem like they are entirely online, but they may have a residency program where you have to go to school part of the time to learn and get grades while working in the field.

How Long Does It Take to Get a Doctorate in Leadership?

a pocket watch marked with years

Each program is different. Some schools want you to have comprehensive coursework that takes years to complete, while others know that you are working full-time and trying to move up quickly.

Typical doctoral leadership programs require at least a 40 credit hour completion, but many of the schools have changed to 60 credit hours. While you may be able to complete 40 credit hours in two to three years, you could be spending more time on your degree if you need 60 credit hours.

Most students who want a PhD must stay in school for four to five years.

How Much Does a Doctorate in Leadership Cost?

man showing money in his wallet

Your tuition is largely based on the classification and location of the school. You can expect a class to cost anywhere between $400 and $900. With higher costs, private universities typically charge more, but they may offer more aid to military veterans.

Students should expect to pay a minimum of $15,000 for a doctoral degree in leadership, but depending on the region and school accreditation, that number could go up to $50,000 or more. Students should also factor in the costs of books, computers, and a living stipend.

What’s the Difference Between a PhD and an EdD?

different careers showing the difference between a PhD and EdD

A Doctor of Philosophy degree in leadership is the highest degree that you can earn within the field. Students with a PhD in this field tend to move into the academic field, pursuing higher education administration roles or leading research projects about different applied leadership theories.

An EdD is a more practical application of the degree. Students are usually able to earn this degree much faster and typically have to take fewer credit hours than a PhD to graduate. While both degrees may require a dissertation, students with an EdD are expected to know about educational topics more than research. A growing number of Doctor of Education no dissertation programs are available.

This means that EdD candidates have in-depth knowledge of skills and techniques to keep students engaged in the classroom and apply different strategies for teaching material through the K-12 grades.

Candidates who plan on earning a PhD should think about their prerequisites as well. Most graduate schools require that PhD candidates apply early, maintain a 3.0 GPA, and have some working experience in the field.

What’s the Difference Between a PhD and a DBA?

students studying notes in books and laptop consecutively

While a PhD teaches students about research and focusing on a specialization, Doctor of Business Administration graduates go onto career paths in business and non-profit organizations. They may become financial account managers, project managers, or healthcare administrators.

Students who earn a professional doctorate can apply their skills and education to a specific role within a business. For example, students who earn a DBA may become human resources managers or public relations managers. This is why coursework mainly focuses on communication, business administration, marketing, project management , and financial accounting.

What’s the difference between an online PhD leadership degree and an organizational leadership Ph.D. online doctorate?

An online PhD in Leadership and an online PhD in Organizational Leadership are both advanced degrees focused on the study of leadership, but there can be some differences in their specific emphasis and scope.

Here’s a general comparison:

  • PhD in Leadership : The online PhD leadership program typically focuses on leadership theories, practices, and principles across various contexts, including business, education, government, and non-profit organizations. It explores leadership at a broader level, examining individual, group, and societal dynamics.
  • PhD in Organizational Leadership : This program specifically concentrates on leadership within the context of organizations. It delves deeper into topics such as organizational behavior, change management, strategic leadership, team dynamics, and the application of leadership theories within the organizational setting.

Getting Your Doctorate in Leadership Online

doctoral students at a graduation ceremony

When you’re ready to apply to a doctoral leadership program, here’s what you’ll want to do:

  • Decide on which degree best suits your goals (PhD, EdD, or DBA)
  • Determine your intended field of study and specialization
  • Narrow down which online schools fit your criteria
  • Apply and search for possible financial aid opportunities

Once you’re accepted, you’ll be on your way to earning a doctorate degree in your field!

EUCLID, an  intergovernmental  treaty-based organization with university mandate, offers to select students from the general public its flagship external (distance or online) degree program called the  EUCLID Online PhD in Global Governance (DGG being the program code for this full PhD / Doctorate of Philosophy).

It is the only online PhD program in global governance organized by an intergovernmental institution whose programs are officially used by active diplomats over 4 continents, many of whom have reached high governance levels (ambassador, minister).

phd global leadership online

This program is an advanced academic program for future academic leaders (professors, deans) and global leaders (NGO leaders, senior civil servants) delivered by a treaty-based and treaty-practicing institution, and as stated by the United Nations in a rare instance of explicit confirmation, “the UN Secretariat recognizes Euclide- Pole Universitaire Euclide and the other four UN institutions … as being accredited.”

Ambassador Hanna (EUCLID graduate and now faculty member) with the UNESCO Director-General.

Academic Presentation

EUCLID’s PhD in Global Governance represents 90 US credits (120 ECTS) of coursework beyond the Bachelor’s (in application of international standards for recognized PhDs). In practice, students may enter the DGG with a relevant Master’s degree, complete 30 to 35 US credits of core doctoral courses, followed by the actual writing of the dissertation in 5 phases. The resulting thesis should be a publishable book offering a clear contribution to the field and establishing the author as a subject-matter expert.

Among the suggested areas of focus are:

  • New global economic and financial architecture
  • ESG and SDGs
  • Regional diplomatic affairs
  • Small Islands / Small States issues
  • Inter-ethnic and inter-religious relations
  • International and treaty law
  • Sustainable development
  • IGOs and non-governmental organizations
  • Nation-specific dissertations

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Why should a student pursue this program at ETSU? What makes it unique? This program is designed for the working sport practitioner. If a student is looking to take the next step in your career, an Ed.D. in Global Sport Leadership can differentiate them from others in the application/search process. This program is unique because 100% of the assignments are directly related to the needs of a working sport practitioner.
  • What is an exciting aspect of this program? What is exciting about the Global Sport Leadership program is that it is ALWAYS changing. The needs of sport leaders can change in an instant, and the flexibility of the program's curriculum allows it to adapt to the needs of future sport leaders.
  • What accreditations apply to this program?  The Global Sport Leadership program is accredited by SACSCOC.
  • What are the job prospects with this degree? This program is designed for the working sport practitioner. ETSU wants all applicants to be “good” at their job before applying to the program. The information presented in the program can assist the student in climbing the ladder in their current work setting, or allow them to differentiate themselves when applying for positions outside their sport organization.
  • Does a student's master’s degree have to be related to this field? What are the prerequisites?  ETSU asks that applicants have a master’s degree in a sport related field. This is a very vague statement because if a student has an MBA but has been working in the field for the last 10 years, then they are a good candidate and their potential enrollment would not be limited due to lack of a specific degree.
  • Does this program require the GRE (and/or GMAT)? Neither the GRE nor GMAT are required for admission.

The program is asynchronous.

Due to the online nature of this program, there are no on-campus requirements. There is a 10-day field experience that occurs in mid-May of the first and second years of study.

There is a research component, but it is not a thesis or dissertation. The culmination experience is a Capstone Project.

Yes. Since all classes are to be taken online, the program is ideal for those with familial or professional obligations.

This program is only available part-time.

Students typically complete the program in 3 years.

The entire curriculum can be viewed on the program's website.

Students are encouraged to visit the Paying for Graduate School website for information regarding ETSU graduate scholarships and other financial resources.

The Darden Report

UVA Darden Student Mqondisi Ndlovu Wins Global Leadership Award

By David Buie-Moltz

University of Virginia Darden School of Business student Mqondisi Ndlovu (Class of 2025) was honored with the Lemuel E. Lewis Bicentennial Award for Global Leadership , the School announced during a special First Coffee on 23 April.

Ndlovu, who has lived in five countries across three continents, has shown a strong commitment to inclusiveness and leadership within the Darden community. “I am overwhelmed with gratitude. This is an incredible privilege,” he said upon receiving the award. He spoke about Darden’s supportive environment, noting, “This is the best community that motivates, challenges but also supports me on a daily basis.”

The award selection process is student-led, involving a committee of student leaders from affinity clubs and supervised by faculty and staff. This year, the committee reviewed 70 applications before selecting Ndlovu. “Selecting just one of them to be the recipient was incredibly difficult for our committee, as all are deserving and accomplished,” said last year’s award recipient, Fehin Ibiloye (Class of 2024) , who explained the process during the announcement.

Ndlovu’s global perspective and ethical values were key factors in his selection. His commitment to mentoring high school students to become chartered accountants highlighted his dedication to creating socio-economic opportunities through education. “His career aspirations are similarly rooted in a desire to give back and create pathways for others to succeed,” Ibiloye added.

The award is named after Lem Lewis (MBA ’72), a significant donor to and supporter of the School. Lewis, who has served continuously in various capacities since graduation, attended the ceremony and received applause for his contributions. “Mr. Lewis, sir, you have given so much to Darden over the years, not just through this scholarship but through your time as well,” Ndlovu said in his speech.

Lewis is a member of the Darden School Foundation Board of Trustees and a former member of the UVA Board of Visitors. He has also received the Charles C. Abbott Award , the highest honor for a Darden graduate, and is a member of the Principal Donors Society , which recognizes the School’s most loyal stewards.

Dean Scott Beardsley emphasized the award’s significance during the event: “This award is so much more than financial support. It represents the values we hold dear at Darden. It celebrates students dedicated to increasing inclusiveness among various economic, political, religious and social groups. The recipients of this award are role models for their peers, embodying the ethics, dedication and global consciousness that define the Darden experience.”

In closing, Ndlovu expressed his gratitude and vision for the future: “Today, you plant a seed in me, Mr. Lewis. I am committed to embodying the values of this scholarship and the Darden community as a whole, to give back this incredible generosity that you have given over the years… Thank you to all the alums that keep supporting the Darden community and paving the way for us. Most of us are here today because we have managed to stand on the shoulders of giants — and for that, we are eternally grateful.”

PhD in Global Leadership and Change FAQs

do i need a master's degree to apply to the phd in leadership and change program.

Yes, all applicants must have a master's degree from a regionally accredited college or university. We do not require that applicants have a master's degree in a specific field; we take a holistic approach to application review. If you are currently pursuing your master's degree, you can still apply for the program as long as your degree is posted before the doctoral program begins.

  What is the required GPA?

We ask that candidates to our PhD in Leadership and Change program have a minimum 3.0 cumulative GPA from both their master's and baccalaureate programs; however, we review all applications holistically for individuals who show potential for success in our program. If you are concerned about your GPA, you are welcome to include a brief "GPA Statement of Explanation" with your application.

Do I have to take the GRE?

No GRE or standardized tests are required.

  When does the program start?

The PhD in Global Leadership and Change program begins with a Community-Building Workshop and Orientation in August. Classes start mid-September, which will be face-to-face at our West Los Angeles Graduate Campus.

  What does rolling admission mean?

We begin reviewing applications once the full completed application is received. It typically takes 4-5 weeks to receive an admissions decision.

If an application is received after the deadline, it will be reviewed on a space-available basis. If the program is full, the applicant will be considered for the following year.

  Is there an interview process?

Please refer to our Admission Requirements webpage.

How long does the PhD program take to complete?

The first three years of this doctoral program are dedicated to completing coursework. Following coursework, all students are required to complete their comprehensive exam and dissertation in order to graduate.

For our doctoral programs, students generally complete the programs in 3.5- 4 years, but students have up to 8 years to complete their entire program.

I am an international applicant. What additional admission requirements do I need to submit?

Please visit our Admissions Requirements page for a full list.

How much does the program cost?

Please visit our Financial Aid page for current information on program costs, financial aid, scholarships, and grants.

Our financial aid award packages can consist of Colleagues grants, federal direct loans, and departmental scholarship. To be eligible for the most amount of aid, we encourage all applicants to submit their FAFSA applications .

  When are the policy trips?

The international policy experience and national policy trips are course requirements. The international policy trip takes place during the first summer of the program. Students will have the opportunity to explore an international location.

The national policy trip takes place in the second summer of the program in Washington D.C. Actual dates vary by year.

  Where is the program offered?

The PhD in Leadership and Change program is primarily online with required meetings at the West Los Angeles Graduate Campus.

  When are classes held?

This program is online with face-to-face meetings two weekends per term at the West Los Angeles Graduate Campus.

What is the difference between a PhD and EdD?

The PhD is research-focused while the EdD is oriented toward educational practice and the application of theory and research. Both degrees require dissertations.

What kind of job opportunities will be available to me once I graduate from this program?

Graduates of the program are likely to hold senior-level positions in NGOs, think tanks, higher education, health care, military leadership, federal and state government, and other organizations.

How can I learn more about this doctoral program?

You are welcome to attend one of our formal in-person or online information sessions. To see the upcoming schedule and to RSVP for a meeting, please visit our page on information sessions .

If you are unable to attend an information session, you are welcome to connect with the Admissions and Recruitment Team at [email protected] to schedule a personal consultation.
