Do Your Spanish Homework in Spanish

¡Hola! Learn how to do your Spanish homework in Spanish in this article and the lessons above! Specifically, learn how to do the following in Spanish:

• use the imperfect subjunctive to make polite suggestions and requests

• discuss studying a language

• use vocabulary related to academics

Let's start off with the vocab words in these lessons!

In this skill, you learn the following verbs!

Aclarar ( to clarify ) is an -ar verb that is regular in the imperfect subjunctive .

Corregir ( to correct ) is an -ir verb that has a stem change in the imperfect subjunctive .

The Imperfect Subjunctive

The imperfect subjunctive ( el imperfecto de subjuntivo ) follows many of the same rules as the present subjunctive . Introduced with a preterite, imperfect, conditional, or past perfect WEIRDO verb in the independent clause, the imperfect subjunctive often refers to a previous experience , but it can also refer to unlikely events or possibilities .

Finding the Imperfect Subjunctive Stem

The imperfect subjunctive uses the third person plural of the preterite (minus the -ron ). The third person preterite form of a verb, whether regular or irregular, becomes the base for the imperfect subjunctive stem .

Imperfect Subjunctive Endings

When conjugating the imperfect subjunctive, you can choose from two different sets of endings. Both are correct, though the first set , whose yo ending is -ra , is more widespread. For this reason, we use the -ra endings in these lessons.

Imperfect Subjunctive Uses

The imperfect subjunctive can be used to talk about past occurrences, current opinions of past events, doubts and wishes, as well as in if clauses and polite requests .

The following phrases, which indicate recommendations and requests , signal that we need to use the imperfect subjunctive:

Review: The Conditional

The conditional tense in Spanish ( el condicional o el pospretérito ) is used to talk about hypothetical situations and probabilities and to make polite requests. In this skill, you reviewed the conditional tense in Spanish.

The Spanish conditional tense is formed much like the Spanish simple future tense . Both regular and irregular verbs use the same set of endings, and any stems that are irregular in the simple future are also irregular in the conditional.

You can learn more about the conditional in this article .

Verbal Periphrasis in Spanish

What's verbal periphrasis.

In Spanish, a verbal periphrasis is a verbal construction made of two verb forms, a conjugated form and an impersonal form ( an infinitive , a present participle , or a past participle ). Verbal periphrasis is used in the informal future , the present progressive , and the perfect tenses . You can learn more about verbal periphrasis in this article .

In this skill, you saw the following verb that is followed by the infinitive :

10 Websites That Will Be Your Spanish Homework Helper

Spanish homework helper websites will ensure your Spanish learning experience is smoother and more enjoyable than ever before.

We live in an age where information is readily available—all you need is an internet connection and the desire to find what you need. However, the huge amount of information overwhelms lots of users.

That’s why we’re here to curate the best Spanish learning information and resources to help you make the most of your valuable study time.

10 Spanish Homework Helper Websites

This list features 10 Spanish homework helper sites that’ll bump up your grades and enhance your Spanish speaking skills!

Quizlet has personally saved me on more than one occasion. This website is great for when you need to practice vocabulary for an upcoming test. It allows you to make custom flashcards—or use pre-existing ones made by other users.

The website displays the flashcards you create and quizzes you on them, reinforcing the cards you get wrong and breezing through the ones you get right. The best part is you can share these with friends and teachers.

Creating an account is free, or a premium option offers personalized learning and offline support.

Reddit has a little something for everybody, and it makes for a great Spanish homework helper. With sites such as r/Spanish you’ll find lists of resources, YouTube channels, books, and much more.

And if that’s not enough, the Spanish-speaking community in the subreddit is helpful and always eager to show how much they know about Spanish. Just write a post and ask a question related to Spanish, and a kind stranger will answer to the best of their ability.

Chegg is probably the weirdest named site on this list, and maybe the whole Spanish-speaking community on the internet. But don’t let the silly name fool you; this site is no joke.

From flashcards to a plagiarism checker to Spanish textbook discounts, there are many benefits to this site that are sure to make your learning experience easier. It focuses on math and science, but if you need to buy a textbook, or if you want some pre-made flashcards, Chegg is a great place to look.

The Real Academia Española, or RAE, is where most Spanish speakers go when they want to settle a grammar dispute. This group of literature connoisseurs has dedicated themselves to recording and updating the “correct” way to speak Spanish for centuries.

Language is fluid and always changing, and RAE is dedicated to keeping a record of Spanish trends and rules. If you’re ever in doubt regarding a rule or word, RAE will have a great research-based answer.

YouTube is full of math tutors, science geeks, and Spanish experts. It’s a great place to go if you’re an auditory learner like myself. Videos are short and easy to grasp.

Let me recommend to you three excellent Spanish learning channels to serve as your Spanish homework helper.

Spanish Academy TV

Spanish Academy TV is Homeschool Spanish Academy’s very own Spanish learning YouTube Channel! You’ll find focused Spanish lessons, cultural videos, and fun songs.

Hola Soy German / Juega German

One of the biggest Spanish YouTube channels, Hola Soy German is a fast speaker; great for intermediate or advanced learners.

Wikiseba offers educational videos on various topics with great visuals that will help you with more than just Spanish homework.

For more, check our list of 25 YouTube channels to learn Spanish !

The Discord app offers multiple chat rooms based on different topics. Think of it as a faster, chat-based Reddit.

Many young people use this app to chat with their friends while playing video games, but it can also be used to talk with focused communities such as Spanish learners. Pop into a channel to ask a question, and a helpful stranger may jump onto a voice chat to help you out.

Channels such as Cozy Spanish Group Chat or Español e Inglés are good places to start. The smaller size of these communities means you will get slower answers, but your questions won’t get lost in a sea of messages.

7. 24 Hour Answers

24 Hour Answers is a great place for advanced speakers to turn to when they need a Spanish homework helper. This is a paid site, but unlike many of its competitors, you pay on an as-needed basis.

Use this site for any subject you like, including Spanish. If you have a paper that needs to be proofread, or any kind of Spanish homework that’s a bigger challenge than you anticipated, this site is a great place to turn to.

Just write your question, attach any relevant files, and wait for someone to help you out! The pricing varies depending on the complexity and length of your query, so make sure you exhaust any other options before turning to this Spanish homework helper site.

Linguee has a dictionary like no other. Using information from all over the internet, this dictionary helps you translate words and phrases that many regular translators won’t be able to tackle.

It’s a fantastic way to learn about regional speech differences and technical language translations, so check it out if your average translator falls short of your expectations.

Lang-8 is a chatroom with a learning twist. You can have conversations with native Spanish speakers that want to learn English, and have each other proofread what you wrote.

This is a brilliant way to connect with a native speaker and get insights you wouldn’t otherwise have, such as false cognates or regionally specific words. By using this service as your Spanish homework helper you might even find a new friend!

10. Spanish Academy

Finally, Spanish Academy is a great Spanish homework helper! Our blog has hundreds of posts designed to help you learn Spanish and make your homework easier. From vocabulary lists to specific subjects, all of our posts are made to make your life—and homework—easier.

Some of the great Spanish homework helpers we have available are our list of false cognates , and high frequency Spanish words .

Check our site frequently to keep up with our multiple daily posts. Remember to use the search bar to find the topic you’d like to learn about!

How to Say “My Homework” in Spanish: Formal and Informal Ways

Learning how to communicate effectively can greatly enhance your language skills. When it comes to discussing your homework in Spanish, there are various ways to express this concept, depending on formality and regional variations. In this guide, we will provide you with tips and examples of both formal and informal ways to say “my homework” in Spanish.

Formal Ways

Formal language is typically used in professional settings, academic environments, or when speaking to someone in a position of authority. Here are some formal expressions for referring to your homework in Spanish:

“Mi tarea” – This is the most common and widely accepted phrase for “my homework” in Spanish. It is a general term that can be used in various contexts and regions.
Profesor: Recuerden entregar su tarea mañana. (Teacher: Remember to hand in your homework tomorrow.) Estudiante: Sí, entregaré mi tarea en la clase. (Student: Yes, I will hand in my homework in class.)

“Mi trabajo para casa” – This expression is commonly used when referring to homework assigned by a teacher or professor.

Profesora: ¿Todos completaron su trabajo para casa? (Teacher: Did everyone complete their homework?) Estudiante: Sí, terminé mi trabajo para casa anoche. (Student: Yes, I finished my homework last night.)

Informal Ways

Informal language is used among friends, family, or in casual settings. Here are some informal expressions for talking about your homework in Spanish:

“Mi tarea” or “Mis deberes” – These phrases are commonly used in casual conversations and are interchangeable. “Mis deberes” can also translate to “my duties” or “my tasks,” but in the context of homework, it is understood to mean “my homework.”
Amigo: ¿Terminaste tu tarea? (Friend: Did you finish your homework?) Estudiante: Sí, ya hice mis deberes. (Student: Yes, I already did my homework.)

“Los debercitos” – This expression is a playful way of referring to homework, often used among younger individuals or in a lighthearted context.

Hermanita: ¡No quiero hacer mis debercitos! (Little sister: I don’t want to do my homework!) Hermano mayor: Vamos, debes terminar tus debercitos para mañana. (Big brother: Come on, you have to finish your homework for tomorrow.)

Regional Variations

While the expressions mentioned above are commonly understood throughout the Spanish-speaking world, there can be slight variations based on regional dialects. Here are a few examples of regional differences:

In Spain, it is common to use the word “deberes” instead of “tarea” to refer to homework.

Example: “Terminé mis deberes” (I finished my homework)

In Latin America, it is common to hear “tarea” or “trabajo” when referring to homework.

Example: “Hice mi tarea” (I did my homework)

Remember, these regional variations are minor, and the primary phrases we discussed earlier will be understood in most Spanish-speaking countries.

Now that you have a better understanding of how to say “my homework” in Spanish, you can confidently communicate with others and navigate various language situations. Practice using these expressions, and soon you’ll feel more comfortable expressing yourself in Spanish!

Spanish government to step in and oversee beleaguered soccer federation

BARCELONA, Spain (AP) — Spain’s sports authority says it will step in to oversee the Spanish Football Federation after a corruption probe targeted the current and former federation presidents.

Spain’s Higher Sports Council said on Thursday it was taking the extraordinary measure for the coming months “in response to the crisis the institution is facing and in Spain’s national interests.”

The government has expressed concern for the reputational damage to the federation while Spain is set to co-host the 2030 men’s World Cup with Portugal and Morocco. Spain is also hoping for success at this summer’s men’s European Championship and at the Paris Olympics.

The move by the government came two weeks after an investigating judge expanded a corruption probe to include federation president Pedro Rocha after the arrest of predecessor Luis Rubiales.

The corruption and money laundering investigation is looking into contracts that took the Spanish Super Cup to Saudi Arabia and federation links with Seville’s La Cartuja Stadium, which hosts the Copa del Rey final and some international games, among other deals.

Rocha and Rubiales have denied any wrongdoing.

FIFA and UEFA, the institutions which govern world and European soccer, respectively, issued a joint statement saying they were closing watching the developments in Spain with “great concern.”

They said they would seek “additional information” from Spain’s Higher Sports Council to see how its oversight “may affect the (the Spanish soccer federation’s) obligation to manage its affairs independently and without undue government interference.”

Rocha took over as interim president after Rubiales stepped down in September, weeks after Rubiales became a national embarrassment for kissing a player without her consent during the Women’s World Cup awards ceremony.

Journalists sign manifesto in defense of Spanish PM and wife, criticize right-wing media, parties

MADRID — Thousands of Spanish journalists came out Friday in support of Socialist Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez and his wife following Sánchez’s announcement that he was considering his future as premier after a court opened preliminary proceedings against his wife on corruption allegations.

Sánchez, who is to announce his future Monday, blamed the judicial probe on “spurious” attacks by right and far-right opponents in the media and political parties.

In support, several thousand journalists and writers signed an online manifesto saying, “the attack by the media and judicial extreme right against the wife of the President of the Government is a new attempt to subvert the popular will expressed at the polls through illicit means.”

It criticized what it called a “campaign of hoaxes, falsehoods and harassment” against members of the last two leftist coalition governments, saying they were coordinated and financed by right-wing political parties, aligned media, businesses and judiciary members.

The legal complaint against Sánchez’s wife, Begoña Gómez, was filed by a far-right legal platform that says Gómez used her position to influence business deals.

The group, Manos Limpias, or “Clean Hands,” acknowledged that the complaint was based on newspaper articles. Spanish prosecutors say it should be thrown out.

“The undersigned journalists invite civil society to join this manifesto and to mobilize on social networks and in the streets against this anti-democratic outrage,” Friday’s manifesto read.

“Governments are chosen and changed at the polls and in Parliament,” it continued, before ending with the call of “No to the judicial and media coup. No to the mud machine.”

The right-of center opposition Popular Party, however, said Sánchez’s behavior was a pathetic ploy to try to win support in upcoming regional and European elections.

Sánchez’s supporters plan a demonstration in support of Sánchez in Madrid on Saturday.

deadpool and wolverine

“ Deadpool and Wolverine ” is set to be one of the biggest films of the summer, and fan theories are already flying around the internet regarding what Marvel could have in store for what looks like a bonkers trip across a multiverse populated by characters previously owned by 20th Century Fox and now owned by Disney. Whatever goes down in the sequel, starring Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman, prior knowledge of the Marvel Cinematic Universe will not be a mandatory requirement in order to enjoy it. That’s according to the film’s director, Shawn Levy .

Popular on Variety

While the upcoming Marvel tentpole is the third movie headlined by Ryan Reynolds’ Deadpool, Levy has been adamant in press interviews that his movie is not really a “Deadpool 3” as the press and fans have often called it.

Levy described his movie as “gnarly” and “funny” and said that early test screenings for the film “were extremely, extremely promising.”

“I wouldn’t say that there were any big surprises, but you feel where the pace wants to tighten, you feel where you can afford to slow down and have a deeper, more durable character moment,” he added.

“Deadpool and Wolverine” hits theaters on July 26 from Disney.

'Deadpool & Wolverine' Requires No Prior Prep, Says Shawn Levy

The movie hits theaters this July.

The Big Picture

  • Fans are excited for Deadpool & Wolverine showdown as Jackman returns to his iconic role.
  • Director Shawn Levy emphasizes that the movie is entertainment-focused, with no need for prior research.
  • Chemistry between Reynolds and Jackman enhances the film, promising comedic and character-based surprises.

Deadpool & Wolverine can’t come soon enough. Around the world, fans are eager to see Ryan Reynolds ’ Merc with a Mouth finally come face to face with Hugh Jackman ’ s Wolverine. The movie marks the return of Jackman to his most celebrated character after 2017’s Logan , which retired hit take on the character. However, in the grand calculus of MCU’s grand multiverse, anything is possible . In a new interview with the Associated Press , director Shawn Levy preps the audience for the movie, which he says needs no homework.

The MCU is quite vast as it is, and with the homecoming of the X-Men, the mythology only goes deeper. With Reynolds' two previous stints as Deadpool and Jackman’s long legacy of playing the character over nine movies, avid fans might feel there’s a lot to binge before they turn up for the movie. But Levy disagrees, “I very much made this film with certainly a healthy respect and gratitude towards the rabid fan base that has peak fluency in the mythology and lore of these characters and this world,” he elaborates, “But I didn’t want to presume that. This movie is built for entertainment, with no obligation to come prepared with prior research.”

Fans Are in for a “Fun Ride” With Deadpool & Wolverine

Given the characters’ history, Deadpool and Wolverine make for a “really interesting duo ,” Levy said. “They’re built for huge conflict with each other because they’re so different individually.” He further teases their conflict, “But that makes for a very interesting story, because the best two hander stories, whether it’s ‘Midnight Run’ or ‘48 Hours’ or ‘Planes, Trains and Automobiles,’ yes, it’s littered with conflict. But it’s ultimately about something more as well and that’s what audiences will see.”

What helped Levy with the feature is his chemistry with the leading actors with whom he has made a couple of movies before . Per the director, the benefit is that “you can try crazy stuff without fear of falling.” He said, “This movie is filled with moments, both comedic and character based, that we didn’t expect and were the result of a freedom that that came from being friends.” Levy understands that the audiences are “hungry for a great time at the movies. They want to be delighted, transported and entertained. And when they are given that, whether it’s ‘ Barbie ,’ ‘ Oppenheimer ’ or any number of other recent movies, they show up.” And Deadpool and Wolverine is full of such moments, “The movie is built for audience delight. I think that (they’re) in for a very fun ride.”

Deadpool & Wolverine slash into theaters on July 26.
