What is a Vision Board and How to Make A Board Your Own

Brooks Manley

Ever heard of a vision board?

It’s a powerful tool that can help you visualize your dreams and goals. Think of it as a visual representation of what you want to achieve in life. It’s a collage of images and words that represent your dreams, aspirations, and things that inspire you.

Creating a vision board isn’t rocket science. You just need a few materials and a clear idea of your goals. It’s all about finding images that resonate with your dreams and arranging them in a way that motivates and inspires you. Stay tuned as we dive into the details of how to create your very own vision board.

What Exactly is a Vision Board?

Think about it as your personal dream catalog. It’s really a simple concept, one that can have a super powerful impact. A vision board is essentially a tangible and vivid representation of your aspirations, your dreams, and what you want your life to be like.

Don’t limit your thinking here to just material possessions or a career title. Your vision board can encompass all facets of your life. It can detail the places you’d like to visit, relationships you hope to cultivate, or personal growth you wish to achieve. Maybe you aspire to write a book, start a charity, or run a marathon – anything that fires up your passion and fuels your plans.

Remember, the purpose of a vision board is not to serve as a rigid roadmap. Instead, think about it as a motivating beacon. It allows you to influence your dominant thought patterns positively, thereby setting in motion the law of attraction. The more you visually comprehend and internalize your desires, the better your chances at turning them into reality.

To create a vision board, you’ll need a few simple materials and, more importantly, a clear idea of what you hope to achieve. Print off relevant pictures, quotes, or words that speak to your soul and glue them strategically on a poster board or a corkboard.

Creating a vision board can be a deeply empowering and transformative process. You are, after all, taking control of your life, direction, and setting an intention to go after the future you envision.

Why Should You Create a Vision Board?

It’s more than just a fun craft project. In fact, it’s a powerful tool that puts your goals front and center in your life, helping you stay focused and committed. Now sure, that sounds impressive – but let’s drill down into details about exactly why you should consider creating your own vision board.

Make Your Goals Visible

A vision board serves as a daily visual reminder of your dreams and aspirations. Imagine this: you wake up each morning to see a collage of images and words that reflect your deepest desires and goals. Pretty inspiring, isn’t it? In a study conducted by TD Bank , 82% of small business owners who used vision boards from the inception of their business had achieved more than half of their goals. That’s a powerful testament to the effectiveness of this tool.

Stay Motivated

Furthermore, your vision board supplies an essential component for success: motivation. Let’s face it, it’s easy to lose steam when chasing big goals. A vision board keeps the flame of motivation burning by reminding you of why you started in the first place.

Manifest Your Dreams

Ever heard of the mind’s power to manifest reality? That’s where a vision board comes in again. Few tools can get your mind to focus on your dreams in such a vivid, colorful way. It’s like continuously telling your mind to channel energy towards accomplishing those dreams. A 2011 study by the Psychology Department at the University at Albany found that vividly imagining desired outcomes increases the likelihood of those outcomes becoming reality. Can’t argue with science, right?

Your dreams aren’t just mere thoughts. They can become concrete realities. A vision board could just be the tool you need to turn your dreams into tangible goals then into your everyday life. So, what’s stopping you from creating one right now?

Materials Needed to Create a Vision Board

Creating a vision board isn’t rocket science. In fact, it’s quite easy if you’ve got all your materials on hand. We’re here to list all the essentials you’d need to jump right into it. Trust us, it’s going to be a fun journey of mapping out your aspirations!

So, what all do you need for this project? Normally, it’s just a few simple things :

  • Any type of board: A cork board, poster board, or even a wall work.
  • Magazines or printed pictures: Colorful and meaningful images are key to visualizing your goals.
  • Scissors: You’ll need these to cut out your pictures and designs.
  • Adhesive: This can be glue, tape, or push pins – anything that’ll help you stick those images onto your board.

Don’t worry about shopping for brand new items. Usable materials are often just lying around the house .

If you want to get more innovative and personalized with your vision board, there are a couple of extras that you can consider:

  • Markers, pencils, or pens: Perfect for adding words or drawings.
  • Decorative items such as stickers or ribbons: To give your board a little extra flair.
  • Personal photos: Helps make your board more personal and unique to you.

Remember, a vision board is all about translating your dreams into a tangible, visual format. So, don’t hesitate to mix things up a bit if you feel it better represents your dreams or aspirations. After all, this is your vision and your board. So, have fun with it, and let it show what you’re aiming for.

With these in-store, you’re all set to delve into your creativity and play around with layouts and designs. Start off by visualising what you want, and then let your creativity unravel. The process is therapeutic in itself and is, of course, a steady stepping stone towards achieving those goals. The process of creating the board is as important as the vision board itself. So, take your time and enjoy it. When you’re ready, the next section will take you through the actual process of constructing your vision board.

There’s no time like the present, so why not get started today?

Step 1: Define Your Goals

When you’re all set to create your vision board, you’ll need to start with a crucial first step – defining your goals. This isn’t a task to be taken lightly. It’s not about glancing at vague aspirations—it’s about zeroing in on concrete aims that you wish to work toward.

Start with a brainstorming session. Go wild! Dream big! Write down anything that crosses your mind—from spending more time with family, mastering a new language, journeying to unseen places, to advancing in your career. Remember, no aspiration is too bold or too small when it comes to your life. You’re the artist of your existence. The power to produce your masterpiece lies directly in your hands.

In this stage, make sure to concentrate on all the facets of your life. Divide your life into key categories: Career, Relationships, Health, Personal Growth, Finances, and Leisure. The crucial portion is you don’t restrict yourself to a single domain.

To keep your efforts organized, create a table to systematically record your goals. Like so:

The very act of writing solidifies your intentions. You’re not just thinking about it anymore—you’re setting the path for these dreams to manifest into reality.

Each goal you pen down can act as a powerful incitement to your subconscious mind. This saintly act will fuel your determination during difficult moments, keeping you committed and motivated towards your pursuit.

Remember, this isn’t a task you need to rush. Take your time. Contemplate what you truly desire from life. Once you’ve mapped out your dreams, the next chapter of your vision board journey can commence. Carry this energy forward. Keep that spark alive. Your vision board masterpiece awaits.

Step 2: Gather Inspiration

Get creative.

Think of this phase as filling your creative toolbox. You’re gathering ammunition for your vision board . You’re not just hunting for pretty pictures or motivational quotes. You’re collecting materials that symbolize your dreams, your goals, and your ambitions.

Find magazines. Yes, we are talking old-school here! Flip through them and rip out images or words that resonate with you. You’d be surprised how a random cut-out from an ad or editorial might just perfectly encapsulate your deepest desires. Don’t have magazines? No sweat. Use online platforms like Pinterest or Instagram for inspiration.

Check out books. Novels, self-help guides, travelogues, cookbooks – any written content that sparks your imagination. Words have immense power to inspire. They can give shape to your ideas. So cherry-pick books that make your heart race or introduce you to new concepts, lifestyles, or destinations.

Tune Into Yourself

Harness your own emotions and experiences. Draw from your memories, your dreams, your future hopes. Cherish those moments of joy, fulfillment, or personal victory. Remember, a vision board is as much a tribute to your past as it is a blueprint for your future.

Take time out to introspect. What makes you happy? Which goals are non-negotiable ? What life changes would bring you closer to your ideal self? These are not light questions to ponder over. But they’re instrumental in guiding your vision board creation process.

Brainstorm a Vision for Various Life Areas

Often, people only think about career or money-related goals. But life’s so much more than that. Branch out . Propose goals for health, relationships, hobbies, spiritual development, or personal growth. This broad-spectrum approach will create a comprehensive vision board that encompasses your complete life dreams .

Remember, there’s no such thing as too many ideas at this stage. Jot down everything. You’ll refine and curate them later. Use these inspirations to breathe life into your vision board. Enjoy the process.

Up next, we delve deeper into how to structure these inspirations on your board and give it a visual form. But that’s for another section.

Step 3: Choose Images and Words

Now that you’ve got your creative toolbox all prepped, it’s time to get down to business. You’re about to embark on a journey of choice. The images and words you choose for your vision board aren’t just decorative elements – they’re potent symbols of the dreams and goals you’re aspiring to achieve. Turn this scavenger hunt into a thought-provoking, soul-searching exercise.

Dive headfirst into your pile of magazines or your digital trove of images. Look out for pictures that catch your eye or words that resonate with your soul. Maybe it’s a photograph of a peaceful log cabin by a lake that symbolizes your dream of a tranquil retirement. Or perhaps it’s the word ‘Confident’ boldly printed across a page that echoes your desire for self-assuredness.

Once you’ve gathered your images and words, sort them out. Decide which ones align most closely with your life visions. Evaluate your options and ask yourself whether they correlate with your ambitions or simply capture your fancy.

Remember, this step isn’t just about choosing alluring visuals. It’s about selecting symbols that depict the essence of your aspirations. Think of each image or word as a visual affirmation of what you want to attract into your life. This stage really helps you delve deeper into your dreams and see what you truly desire.

Depending on your preference, you might want to categorize your images and words based on different life aspects such as:

  • Career goals
  • Health and wellness objectives
  • Relationship aspirations
  • Hobbies and passion projects
  • Personal growth landmarks

Take your time on this . Do not rush the process. It’s essential that the images and words chosen really mean something to you. They’ll form the basis of your vision board and be prominent reminders of your ambitions.

With your images and words ready to go, you’ll have a pile of potential waiting to come alive on your vision board. As for shaping these elements into a coherent board view…well, that’s the journey to come. Keep your tools close and your spirits high. You’re on the right path.

Step 4: Arrange and Design Your Vision Board

Now it’s showtime! Take all of those gripping images and words you’ve poured your time into and start to arrange them on your board. Please note that there’s no right or wrong way to do this. Your vision board is about you and your dreams , so its design should reflect that!

One important aspect of the arrangement process is the categorization of your images and words. While setting up your board, you can decide to mix everything up or keep different life aspects (career, health, relationships, hobbies, and personal growth) in separate areas. Again, it all depends on what feels right for you.

Creating your vision board is not just about sticking pieces of paper onto a board. It’s a highly personal, engaging, and meaningful process. So, when you are arranging your elements, think of creating a visual journey that represents your future aspirations.

Another crucial thing to consider is the layout. Ensure your board exhibits a flow, a coherent connection of the images, words, and their possible outcome. Try balancing color, size, and the theme of your items as well. A well-designed board is not just beautiful to look at – it also makes the visioning process more enjoyable and inspiring.

Feel free to get creative, and moreover, allow the process to be therapeutic. Letting go of preconceived layouts or designs can lead to an arrangement that’s more authentic and true to you. So, remember, this isn’t an art contest. There’s no rush. Let it evolve organically over time.

Okay! Now it’s time to secure those elements onto your board. You can use glue, pins, or sticky backed plastic, whichever suits your style. Be thoughtful about your choice, though. You may want to rearrange your visions later on, right?

Your progress in the process of creating your vision board is obvious! So, what’s next you ask? Well, beyond arranging and designing, lies the final step which involves reviewing and refining. Keep reading for more insights on this.

Step 5: Display and Use Your Vision Board

Alright, so it’s done. You’ve put together a great vision board. It’s a piece of art filled with your visions, dreams, and goals. Now, let’s move onto our next stage: displaying and using your masterpiece.

First up, location matters . Find a spot that is always in your sight. Whether that’s your home office, above your desk, or even on the refrigerator door. It’s important to place your board where you’ll see it often. That way, you constantly engage with your goals and aspirations.

Secondly, don’t just hang it and forget it. A vision board isn’t just a pretty piece of decor. Make sure to actively interact with it. Look at your vision board on a daily basis. Spend some time each morning and evening reflecting on your visions and affirmations. This won’t simply remind you of your dreams, it’ll also fuel your motivation to make them come true.

Moreover, don’t hesitate to make changes to your board. Your goals and visions might evolve over time, and it’s completely fine. Feel free to add, remove, or change elements to match your current thoughts and desires.

No article worth its salt would skip the importance of taking action . Yes, seeing your dreams and goals can inspire you. However, it’s the actions you take that turn these dreams into reality. Don’t just admire your vision board. Make a plan, set your objectives, and start taking steps toward achieving them.

May Your Board Reflect Your Dreams

So there you have it! Creating your own vision board isn’t as daunting as it might seem. Remember, it’s all about reflecting your dreams and aspirations. Don’t fret about the layout or theme, just let your creativity flow. Secure your images and words however you want – glue, pins, or sticky backed plastic, it’s all good!

Once you’ve got your board, find a spot where you’ll see it every day. Engage with it, reflect on your visions, and watch as they evolve over time. But don’t stop there. Take action, make a plan, and start turning those dreams into reality. After all, your vision board is just the beginning. It’s what you do after that truly counts. So go on, start creating your vision board today and step into a future you’ve designed.

How to Create a Vision Board That Works

Do vision boards work, how to make a vision board , tips for a successful vision board, overcoming common vision board challenges.

Making a vision board and refining it every year has had a profound impact on my life. It’s affected my personal life, my business life, my spiritual life, and many more areas. Because it’s something that’s so critical to success, I want to share with you exactly how to create a vision board that works.

Often, when we hear of vision boards, we think of them as an arts and crafts project involving glue sticks, scissors, magazine cut-outs, and printed pictures. But, a vision board is so much more than this: It’s a visual manifestation of the life you want to have. It displays what you want out of your time on this earth and what your inner-most desires are calling you to accomplish. There is possibly no other tool that can get you closer to fulfilling your idea of a perfect life than this tangible guide to the future.

What does it require? Time, serious contemplation, and regular check-ins.

But I promise you, the more you put into this project, the bigger results you’ll see in your life. In fact, studies show  that you are  43% more likely to achieve your goals if you write them down.  This is one of the top reasons vision boards can have an enormous impact on the life goals you achieve.

Today, I’m going to explain why vision boards are incredibly important to goal-setting and goal accomplishment. I’ll also go over how to create a vision board that not only works but creates massive positive transformation in your life. We’ll cover:

  • How vision boards work
  • How to make a vision board
  • Getting the most from your vision board
  • Common vision board challenges and how to overcome them
What we focus on expands and becomes our reality. Where intention goes, energy flows. dacey paul

A vision board is a roadmap for the ideal vision you have for your life. From where you want to live, to your dream job, to the traits you want in a life partner, vision boards provide the vital clarity and perspective needed for turning dreams into reality.

Studies show that simply writing a goal down increases the ability to recall it later on, which also increases the likelihood of it coming to fruition or being accomplished. Further, information absorbed visually is retained   better and for longer  than information received simply audibly or through plain text. This is because 65% of the  population  are visual learners, according to the National Library of Medicine.

If you can write your goals down in a way that allows you to see   them, such as with a vision board, you’ll remember them, and they’ll stick in your memory. When you think of your goals each day, you begin to align your actions and decisions in a way that supports them. And when your daily actions and decisions align with your stated goals, your chances of achieving them increase tremendously.

Setting goals is the first step from turning the invisible to visible. tony robbins

Creating a vision board is a personal journey. There’s no right or wrong way to do it. Still, if you’ve never done it, it can seem intimidating. Thinking about the different areas of your life and the goals and dreams you have in each category can be overwhelming. This is why many of us don’t spend time focusing on the vision we have for our lives.

As easy as it is to let life happen to us, it isn’t a healthy approach. When you let others take the driver’s seat, you’re no longer in control of the destination—and more often than not, you won’t like where they take you. That’s because we all have a purpose and calling we’re meant to fulfill. When you avoid directing yourself toward it, it results in pain, misery, and unfulfillment.

To avoid massive corrections in the future, start creating a vision board that sets you on the right path. Follow the three simple steps below to get started.

1. Visualization

The process begins with  visualization . Start by sitting or lying down where you can disconnect from external stimuli. Relax into the space, close your eyes, and begin imagining what you want for your life. Do you want to buy a house? What does the house look like? Where is it? Or do you want to become a better team leader? What  leadership behaviors  do you need to adopt? What kind of leader do you want to be? Sitting in a peaceful place, even in prayer or meditation, and thinking of these details will help you conjure  specific visuals   that guide your actions.  Repeat this as often as possible so that the images of what you want becomes clearer and clearer.

2. Writing Down Goals

Once you have clearly visualized the areas of your life that you want to focus on, write down the  specific goals you need to have to achieve them . What are the daily, weekly, and monthly steps and actions needed to get the house of your dreams? Or to become a leader in your field?

Writing goals down doesn’t have to mean onto a plain piece of paper with a pen. The same benefits of recall and memorization occur if you print or cut out pictures representing your visual goals and attach them to a poster board or a corkboard. You can also arrange them in a collage or a digital vision board.

If you’re artistically inclined, you can use paintings and drawings to represent your visions and goals. Just be sure to include both the overarching visions and the associated goals   to achieve them with images that are specific and relevant to what you want. If it’s just a collage of pretty pictures that don’t represent your desires and values, it won’t have any impact on your life.

3. Strategizing

Once your vision and the specific goals associated with them are clear, it’s time to strategize. What are some new habits you’ll need to integrate into your life to begin working towards them? What will the schedule of these new habits look like? For example, to buy a house, maybe you need to start cooking at home more to save money for a down payment. This habit could look like meal-prepping on Sundays for the week ahead. Or, to learn  how to become a CEO , start studying your company’s  leadership team . How do they work together? What professional traits and habits do they share?

Strategizing is the process of taking your goals and vision out of the abstract dream space and taking actionable steps to make them a reality.  It’s also the first step of the law of attraction—or when you have positive thoughts and actions that attract positive experiences.

Create the highest, grandest vision possible for your life, because you become what you believe. oprah winfrey

A vision board doesn’t have much impact if it’s hidden, outdated, or doesn’t represent your truest personal desires. With the right approach and intentions, however, vision boards can be truly empowering tools for guiding you to the life of your dreams. Use the tips below to ensure your vision board is effective at doing this.

  • Make it personal: Our friends, family members, and colleagues may all have ideas and opinions on what they think we should pursue. Be sure to not let these influences distract you from what  you  want. Get personal with yourself. Meditate on it. Pray on it. Dig deep. Make sure your vision board is an accurate representation of you and no one else.
  • Make it visible: Place your vision board somewhere you’ll see it every day. You want to be reminded of your vision daily so that your actions and habits always support it. If you don’t see your vision board, you’re apt to forget your goals, and your daily choices may come out of alignment. This misalignment is what holds back many from achieving their objectives.
  • Update it: What you want out of life can change, and that’s okay. Maybe you’ve discovered a new passion or interest you’d like to explore. Or your life has taken an unexpected turn in some way. It happens. The key to having a successful vision board is making sure it is always up-to-date with where you are. If you need to change out pictures, set new specific goals, or update your strategy, be sure to do so.
  • Embrace change: If things in your life are too different, it’s okay to create a new vision board. Embrace the changes in your life and acknowledge that some things are not meant to be. Sometimes, discovering who we are and what we want requires trial and error. Therefore, if you’re encountering resistance, try another direction. It’s possible that change is actually what’s needed.
You do not rise to the level of your goals. You fall to the level of your systems. james clear

If you make a vision board for a New Years’ resolution without giving it the thought and attention it needs, you can’t expect success. Vision boards require visualization, goal-setting, and strategy. They also require scheduled time, daily and weekly, for reflection and habit alignment.

Sometimes, people follow a spark of inspiration to make a vision board once. They gather all of the materials and set aside the time to start building it out. But unfortunately, without the right habits to support it, the poster board or corkboard ends up in the trash. Achieving success with anything, even vision boards, requires having  atomic habits . When you establish strong daily habits, your goals will be positively reinforced, thus transforming your life in positive ways.

How to Create a Vision Board in Your Journal

Last updated on July 10th, 2023 • Art Journaling , Motivation and Inspiration

A vision board is a powerful tool to help you focus on your goals and manifest your deepest desires. And where better to create a vision board than in your journal? A journal is a personal space to explore your thoughts and feelings, so it’s the perfect place to envision your future and chart a course toward achieving your dreams.

Example of a vision board in a journal - Your Visual Journal

How do vision boards work in a journal?

90% of our cortical neurons interpret images rather than just words alone, so a vision board impacts us in a different way than a simple list of goals.

A vision board also engages you through your brain’s reticular activating system, which is what it uses to deal with the flood of data it receives all day. It’s the filter that decides what is unnecessary information and what is important. A vision board creates cues that prompt your brain to notice anything related to your goals.

For example, if your vision board contains a concept like “work as a freelance illustrator.,” you might start to notice illustration classes, designs on the wrappers of chocolate bars, an old school friend who now works as an illustrator, or opportunities to market yourself.

Identifying your desires and creating a visual representation of them is a game-changer in how you show up in the world in relation to what you want.

Vision boards originated as a poster board to hang on a wall where you could see it every day, but your journal can work just as well with a two page spread. If the idea is to have your vision board accessible to view every day, designing one in your journal has the added benefit of portability!

Example of a vision board in a journal - Your Visual Journal

What should you include on your vision board?

What you include on your vision board is up to you! However, some things that you might want to include are:

– Images that represent your goals

– Words or phrases that inspire you

– Symbols that carry meaning to you

– Colors that bring you joy

Here’s how to create a vision board in your journal:

1. choose a method for creating the visuals on your vision board..

Will you look through magazines, cut out the images that resonate with you, and paste them to the pages of your journal? Will you write inspirational words and draw doodles to support them? There are countless ways to create visuals in your journal. Find an approach that matches your style and gather your supplies.

2. Carve out time to think aspirationally.

Planning your vision board happens best when you aren’t in a rush. Find some time to sit in quiet reflection, or break out some snacks and invite some friends to join you. What do you want to focus on? Do you want to manifest more abundance, love, or success in your life? Is there something you’ve always wanted to try? A place you’ve wanted to go? What in your life is crying out for change? What do you want to see happen in the next year?

3. Sit down to create your journal spread.

As you’re designing your vision board, think about how you want to feel when you achieve your goals. What will your life be like? What will you be doing? Really envision what it will be like to have what you desire. The more specific you are, the better. Let your intuition lead you on this. You don’t need a fully formed idea to start your layout. Let it evolve over time. You don’t have to create your entire board all at once; it’s fine to take your time and craft it over the course of  several days.)

4. Start using your vision board daily.

Once you’ve finished your vision board, take some time to look at it every day – or at least every time you journal. As you view it, allow yourself to feel the emotions of having already achieved your goals. By regularly focusing on your vision board, you’ll begin to attract what you desire into your life.

Example of a vision board in a journal - Your Visual Journal

How often should you look at your vision board?

It’s up to you how often you view your vision board. Some people like to reflect on it every day, while others prefer to glance at it once a week or so. The important thing is to take the time to review it regularly, so it can continue to serve as a reminder of your goals. (And to cause your reticular activating system to kick in!)

Don’t want to do this solo? Host a vision board journal party.

I used to think vision boards were crazy. I just couldn’t get excited about cutting out pictures of yachts and putting them on a posterboard with a glue stick.

So, when a friend invited me to her house for a vision board party, I was unsure about it. But I liked the friends, and there was Prosecco involved, so I figured at least the conversation would be fun and decided to attend.

At the beginning of the party, my buddy, Melanie, pulled out her vision boards from previous years, and started talking about what had happened in her life since she started creating them. They weren’t what I expected.

Instead of a “wish list” of material possessions, the boards were artistic expressions of how Melanie wanted to be in the world. The boards were focused on what she wanted to accomplish.

Melanie directed us to a large table scattered with markers and a stack of poster boards.

The Prosecco began to flow. Our friend, Cheryl, set up a diffuser with essential oils. And we all sat at the table and picked up markers to scribe our futures.

The conversation was so inspirational!

I hung the vision board I created at the party in a place where I could see it every morning for the rest of the year, and it served as a cue card for my choices — with powerful results. I was surprised at its effectiveness in focusing my attention.

Want to host your own vision boarding party? Here’s how:

1. Invite a small group of friends. (Only as many as you have table space to accommodate people.)

2. Ask your friends to bring their journals, or get a stack of heavy white paper that is 11×15 or larger. (I like the Canson XL 11×15 pad from Amazon.)

3. Spread out a variety of markers and colored pencils on the tables, while still leaving plenty of space for everyone to work.

4. Put out some appetizers, and open a bottle of prosecco or champagne. (Because this adds an element of celebration as you dream about the future!)

5. If you have an essential oil diffuser, consider using it; scent is closely linked to emotion and memory and has the potential to add a positive and peaceful vibe to the experience.

It’s that simple. As people work on their vision boards (or vision journal pages), the conversation will naturally drift to possibility and what could be. Not only that, but the energy of creating something in a room with friends will inspire you.

Example of a vision board in a journal - Your Visual Journal

Why use a vision board in your journal?

There are many reasons why you might want to use a vision board, especially in your journal. A vision board can help you to:

– Stay focused on your goals

– See your progress over time

– Visualize your success

– Be accountable to yourself

You might be surprised at how well this works.

A vision board is a great way to focus on your goals and manifest your deepest desires. It is a physical representation of what you want to achieve, and can be used to help you stay focused and motivated.

Creating a vision board in your journal is easy and fun, and it’s a great way to visualize what you want to achieve in your life. So, gather some art supplies (and maybe some friends) and get started!  (Want some more ideas on vision boarding? Check this out !)

How to Make a Vision Board That Works, for Real This Time

If you can paste it to a poster board, you can be it. Probably.

vision board essay

By Julie Kraut

Ms. Kraut is a comedy writer.

Calling all dreamers, all procrastinators, all people who’ve aged out of wunderkind status (happy 27th birthday, by the way): Stop doing nothing to make your hopes come true and start a vision board! A vision board is a collection of inspiring images, quotes and objects that turns your most important goals into accomplishments. Sound too good to be true? Before I made a vision board, I was like you — skeptical, sad and wearing jeans that didn’t work for my body type. But, now here I am, giving advice on how to be happy!

Imagine your brightest future. No matter what you have to do to get there — lose weight, start a podcast, volunteer once — a vision board can help, as long as you make one that works. A vision board that doesn’t work is just a collage. (Saying that with the deepest respect for the collage community.)

To create a functional vision board, follow these easy steps:

Step 1: Set Your Intention

How do you want to feel once this vision board takes effect? Use simple phrases that describe your post-vision board self. To inspire you, I’ll share intentions from my previous vision boards: “Happy.” “Successful at literally anything.” “Skinnier than my sister.” (Pro tip: If you don’t have a sister, pick anyone whose genetics you find flagrantly unfair.)

Step 2: Gather Your Supplies

You’ll need a corkboard, scissors, magazines with pictures so airbrushed that you feel kind of sad about your face, pushpins and/or tape.

Step 3: Find Your Creative Space

Consecrate a private area as your vision board creation zone by lighting candles, burning incense and hanging tapestries. If no private space is available because, despite your age, you live with roommates, you can put those kids you babysit for to bed a few hours early and use their playroom.

Step 4: Source Your Images

Now it’s time to search for pictures. Be sure to use only those that make you feel like you can accomplish your goals. Don’t waste your vision board’s time by pinning up a KonMari organized closet. What about a bathroom that’s not always out of hand soap? And you can throw away that picture of a businesswoman with no unread emails in her inbox. Instead, look for a lady who actually hems her work pants and doesn’t just commit to walking on her tip toes.

Step 5: Place Your Vision Board

It’s not called a vision board because it’s invisible. Put your board someplace you can see it every day, which means other people will see it, too. This is where the motivation magic happens! Your friends, family and third dates can hold you accountable. When they ask things like, “Is that a ransom note from a cartoon villain?” and “You know Barack Obama can’t be president again, right?” let your community’s energy propel you to make your dreams come true.

Step 6: Make It Real

Turn that picture of a green smoothie into your reality! That novel you’re going to write, sell and adapt into an unexpectedly successful indie film? It’s on you to start and finish it! That stock photo of a woman who looks like she has her own Netflix password and doesn’t use her old intern’s? Make her you! Once you make every single one of those much-needed changes, your vision board has worked. Believe it or not, true happiness is as simple as that!

A Complete Guide To Vision Board Wording And Vision Board Sentences

This is why we made this guide to help you understand that no matter how many vision boards you make, if you don’t use the proper   vision board  words, and you don't make the proper vision board sentences, it could block your blessings from entering your life.

In this guide, we’ll teach you 6 of the best vision board wording techniques for manifestation, as well as the words to avoid when making your manifestation sentences.

But first, allow us to tell you why writing on a piece of paper is the best way to practice and apply vision board wording and sentences.

WRITING IN PAPER STIMULATES STRONG BRAIN ACTIVITY

Did you know that writing on paper stimulates stronger brain activity compared to jotting down on an electronic device?

Yes, while it seems faster and more convenient to take out your phone and write your to-do list, you’ll actually become more efficient if you handwrite your notes on a piece of paper or journal.

A significant study on the topic was conducted by  Umejima et al. in 2021 .  The study involved groups of university students and recent graduates.  One group was told to write down on a piece of paper while the other group was told to write notes on an electronic device.

Using fMRI neuroimaging, the researchers identified specific brain activation differences when the students were subjected to memory retrieval.

The study came up with the following results:

  • Writing down on paper is faster.
  • Writing boosts brain activity.
  • Writing on paper optimizes memory.
  • Writing triggers multiple robust brain activity.
  • Writing on paper promotes better memory recall.
  • Writing supports stronger neural encoding and memory retrieval.

printable vision board words

In short, writing down on paper helps you learn faster, as well as recall information you’ve written down.  When you’re writing down your goals, your goal-setting plans, and what you want to achieve, they are better imprinted on your brain, allowing you to focus and keep your attention on achieving your goals.

The researchers say that writing down on a piece of paper is more efficient due to the complex and unique spatial and tactile information that leads to improved memory.

The details of the study as well as the significance of the findings are found in the March 19, 2021 issue of   Frontiers In Behavioral Neuroscience , which is a peer-reviewed journal.

The data retrieved from this research explains why writing down your goals in a journal is one of the most effective ways to manifest your goals and one of the best exercises for the Law of Attraction.

6 METHODS FOR WRITING MANIFESTATION TECHNIQUES

Here are 6 methods for writing vision board wording as a Law of Attraction exercise:

Scripting is a simple   manifestation method  where you put yourself in the position of having received what you asked for.  Here is how you do it:

Get a notebook or journal and start writing.  Imagine yourself after the fact:  you have $10M in your bank account, you’re living in your dream home, you’re traveling the world in your private jet, you have beautiful kids and a happy family, etc.

Start jotting down how you feel, and how happy you are, and describe having it all.  Scripting allows you to feel the emotions of having achieved your dreams.  When it comes to asking the Universe for something, you need to match the emotional energy of what you want to attract.

Through scripting, you are creating these emotional energies with ease.  Let your hand flow freely when writing, and don’t worry about grammar, spelling, or punctuation marks.  Let the positive energy flow through your hands.

2. 55X5 METHOD

The 55 x 5 Method is writing down your goals 55 times every day for 5 days.  It comes from the idea that repetition helps to imprint information in our subconscious thoughts.

Choose a goal, write it down 55 times at different times throughout the day, and repeat for 5 days.  You need to write in the morning, afternoon, and evening, to ensure you’re thinking about your goal throughout the day.

The idea is that after 5 days, you’d have given your goal enough time and attention for it to stay in your mind.  So even if you’re no longer writing about the goals, you continue to give them attention since they’re already in your subconscious mind.

AFFIRMATIONS LETTER

An affirmation letter is writing about yourself but from the perspective of your best friend.  Visualize yourself having achieved your goals and dreams, and that a good friend is writing you the letters, and you’re reading them.

This method of writing helps you get into the space of having achieved your goals and that people around you are proud of what you’ve accomplished.  It puts you in a place of pride and happiness.

Here is how you do it:

Get pieces of paper and write down   affirmations  as if you’re a friend.  Write down affirmations, such as:

  • “I am so proud of what you have achieved.  You are now one of the best experts in your profession and no one deserves it more than you.”
  • “I am happy for you and your marriage, as well as the bun in the oven, finally giving you the family you always wanted to have.”
  • “Congratulations on your promotion, you deserve it for all of your hard work.”

When writing these affirmations, feel the emotions of having someone you love be as happy for you as you are when you’ve finally achieved your dreams.

word vision board

VISIONS LETTER

A vision letter is writing on a piece of paper as if you’re living your dreams.  It’s one goal per paper, and the difference between this and scripting is that you’re going to put a date.  Once you’ve made the vision, place it in a safe place, where you’ll store it and open it on the future date you put on the paper.

Get a piece of paper.  Write down a specific date, maybe 5 years from now.  Write down your dreams as if you’re living it.  For example, “I have $5M in my bank account right now,” or “I am happily cooking and serving clients in my restaurant,” or “I am playing with my 2-year-old son on my large lawn in my dream house.”

This technique will get you excited about your future and will help you make sure that by the time you open your vision letter, all your dreams will have come true.

GRATITUDE JOURNAL

A gratitude journal is the easiest and fastest way to use writing as a   manifestation technique.   Every day, write down 5 things you are grateful for.  You can write them in the morning or in the evening, it doesn’t matter.  Just make it a daily habit.

When you write them down, feel the emotions of how grateful you are.  Write specifics as well.  For example, “I am happy I have a roof above my head, for my comfortable and warm bed, and for food to eat in my fridge.”

Be as detailed as possible.  This instantly puts you in a positive and abundant mindset, helping you in your   Law of Attraction  exercise by creating positive energy.

THE 369 RULE OF MANIFESTATION

This method is inspired by the 369 number, which was one of Nikola Tesla’s favorite number sequences, as he believed it to have unique significance.

printable vision board words

It’s as simple as writing down your goals three times a day: Write down your goal 3 times in the morning, 6 times in the afternoon, and 9 times in the evening.  Write one single goal to give it focus and attention.

Repeat this method for 3, 6, or 9 days.  It is similar to the 55x5 manifesting method that uses repetition to imprint the goal in your subconscious mind.

Choose one or all of these writing manifestation methods and use them to supplement your vision board practice.

WORDS TO AVOID FOR VISION BOARD SENTENCES

When constructing your vision board sentences, there are a few words you need to avoid.  By avoiding these words, your portal of opportunities and blessings will be open, allowing you to receive more   prosperity and abundance.

Here are some of the words you need to avoid using when constructing your vision board sentences:

  • No, Not, Don’t
  • Try, Hope, Maybe
  • Wish, Someday, If
  • Can’t, Won’t, Wouldn’t

Avoid saying “I don’t want to gain weight.”  Instead, say, “I am thankful for having a healthy body.”

Avoid saying, “I wish I would get that promotion.”  Instead, say, “I am confident of getting that promotion.”

Avoid saying, “Someday, I am going to be rich.”  Instead, say, “Thank You, Universe, for bringing wealth into my life.”

Believe and never doubt the Universe will give you what you want.  You need to believe and be confident that what you want is already yours.  It’s coming and it’s already in your hands.

Vision board  wording and vision board sentences are important when manifesting your goals.  Knowing how to use writing techniques and the right words and sentence construction for your Law of Attraction exercises will help you achieve your dreams faster and more efficiently.

Vision Board Essay Details #3: Golden Bricks

Read Time 2 mins | January 2, 2022 | Written by: Kylene Reed

The end of my detail lessons features The Golden Bricks. These lessons can be found in your Grade Level Empowering Writers Guide in the Research section. This skill is pretty simple to model and use in our writing. I just quickly created a handout for my students to use as they are planning out the pieces to their essay.

vision board essay

Then I modeled how I would use this as a detail sentence. I had one student give me a  detail from each main idea and then we talked about which of the GBs would be the best to support it. I showed them how to go and research for it on the internet and then we used the sentence starters, also provided in the guide, to start the detail sentences together. These details will end up being more than one sentence since the GB supports the detail that you are writing about. The last example shows how it would sound all together. And might I just add... LOVE how that detail turned out. As a class, we were struggling to think of how we could include a statistic or amazing fact, something different. Then one of my sweet girls said, "What if we start with the number of kids in Africa that don't get to go to school." It just all evolved from there!

Vision Board Examples That Manifest Results [How and Why]

You may have scoffed at the idea of collecting a bunch of images and pasting them on a piece of cardboard to expedite your dream job or ideal partner or wealth coming into your life. But don’t knock it ’til you’ve tried it.

What Is a Vision Board

A vision board is a manifestation tool to focus your creative energy. A vision board consists of a collection of images, textures, reminders that trigger within you a feeling of being that which you desire — but without the yearning desire — because you are already enjoying all that you want.

So instead of desire, you feel gratitude and appreciation. That is why gratitude is more powerful than yearning — yearning comes from lack, while gratitude comes from fulfillment.

And to be a vibrational match to what you want, you’ve got to act from the feeling place of already having that which you want, and to assume that state of being .

Feeding your brain images and feelings of the desired state of being is the fastest route to living that state NOW. Fully immerse yourself in your new reality, and give thanks for what you have.

You can create a separate vision board for every area of your life, or throw everything you love into one collective board. You’re the creator here.

Collected Examples of Awesome Vision Boards

Tip: Instead of pasting the words “success” and “love”, choose photos that conjure feelings of being successful and what love looks and feels like for you. The goal is to elicit the feeling.

Vision Boards Are All About the Feeling

Yes, less is often more. The most effective vision boards have fewer than a dozen images. Having less on your cardboard or canvas increases the potency of your vision.

Too many images and words and the vision board loses its emotional punch and becomes an intellectual exercise.

Vision Boards for an Adventurous Life & Satisfying Relationship

Would you rather skip the tactile and experiment with a digital board?

To create a digital vision board, you can use graphic software (GIMP, Paint, Photoshop) or online tools like Canva to make a collage.

1. Meditate, Reflect, then Write out Your Dreams and Goals

  • What is most important to you? Which people, things, places, activities, etc.?
  • What are the big or little goals of your life?
  • What is your legacy?
  • What do you lose track of time doing?
  • What would you like to accomplish in the next year, three years, or five years?
  • What are those things you wish to accomplish in your lifetime?

These questions are good starting points, but don’t stress. The point is to get excited about living a creative life that means something to you. Think about these things and write them down.

2. Collect Images That Resonate With Your Vision

After writing down your goals and positive associations, it’s time to visualize them.

Search online for images of people, scenes, objects, quotes, whatever you can find that represent the images of your mind.

(Of course, if you are making a physical vision board, print out these images or find them in printed magazines.)

Do an image search or type a search query on platforms like Pinterest or Instagram to find related images that might resonate.

Set your completed vision board as your home screen, screen saver or put different versions of your vision boards for different areas of your life on a slideshow to display when your computer is idle.

Vision Boards for Affirming Love & Family

At their core, these boards are a highly personalized collage of images, words, and phrases that capture your vision of the future by eliciting the feelings of living that vision. The intent of this vision board is to make you feel truly giddy, therefore you will naturally follow this feeling and stay focused and take purpose-led action.

Option: Divide Your Vision Board into Life Sectors

If you prefer an organized, systematic approach to creativity, feel free to create a template outlining in which areas of your life you want to cover for your vision board manifestation tool.

The image above is an example of such an approach.

There are no wrong vision boards as long as it helps you to focus on what you want and to feel gratitude for the life you are currently living which gave birth to these new expressions.

Use Whatever Materials Resonate (or are Available)

vision board essay

Literally, a  vision board  is any sort of  board  on which you display images that represent whatever you want to be, do or have in your life.

  • For the canvas: something you can hang on the wall in a closet so you will see it every day, or hang it on the wall somewhere happy and well-lit. Bristol board and cork board are two popular choices for the base template
  • Use your own photos
  • Use souvenirs to serve as reminders of your strengths, uniqueness, achievements, successful relationships, and positive associations
  • Use photos from magazines
  • Small items that can attach to the board material via clip or glue

How & Why Do Vision Boards Work

A vision board is a tool for the focus of your multi-level intelligence and for taking action.

With an annual, quarterly, or however frequent you choose practice of creating a vision boards, your becomes familiar with the dominating thoughts you are comfortable with, and must deliver a match in the form of events, circumstances of life and the people related with the nature of your dominating thoughts. Thoughts lead to supporting actions (and clarity of thoughts and feelings comes through action).

So choose images that inspire you and feel good, not images that arouse feelings of jealousy or anger or disappointment. As Neville Goddard teaches, Imagination creates reality:

Persist in the feeling of the wish fulfilled and it will materialize in your physical world. Neville Goddard

How to Make an Effective Vision Board

Visioning is planning for those who don’t like to micromanage every rational step along the way.

It’s a process that often helps us get to the heart of what we desire, what holds value for us, and then it prompts us into action from a space of aliveness and alignment. https://www.lifehack.org/articles/productivity/8-ideas-create-your-own-vision-board.html

A vision board is a sort of mind map. Sometimes there can be more than one right answer to a problem and a vision board is the ideal visual technique to assess your options and so how your options relate to your goals.

Imagine living a life you consider fulfilling. If you want, light some candles, sip some delightful beverage, and immerse yourself in the desirable details of your everyday schedule, your relationships, and the hobbies you practice. Really feel it. Revel in the feelings of your experience. These feelings are the basis of your vision board ideas.

The images you choose can clarify your values and beliefs—and your visions and goals. The more you look upon reminders of who you are, and feel from the end in the wish fulfilled , the sooner reality reflects your being-ness.

But don’t overthink, this isn’t an intellectual exercise. This is a tool to tap into your higher knowing and to have fun. Immerse yourself in the feelings of having what you want.

Bottom line, creating a vision board is an exercise in gratitude. Give thanks for the life you have and the one you are creating in each moment.

vision board essay

A vision board is a piece of poster board with a collage of images and words cut from magazines pasted on it. Not just any images and words—those that either spell out or symbolize what you love, what you hope to achieve, and what you want to bring into your life.

Making a vision board brings clarity to your dreams. When you surround yourself with tangible reminders of those dreams, your life will change to match them. It may sound far-fetched, but trust me—it works. All that positive mental energy is powerful!

Rose Caiola and Barbara Biziou

Sometimes I make vision boards at home by myself, very reflectively, but recently I tried a different approach. My friend Barbara Biziou , the “Queen of Rituals,” led a workshop in New York City on creating your vision for 2014, and I attended.

One Friday evening about 40 of us gathered in a midtown loft for our weekend voyage. After a short lecture on how we would create the year we wanted, Barbara handed out a questionnaire and asked us to write the highlights and challenges of the past year.

As I reflected on the preceding 12 months, I realized I’d accomplished more than I thought. First, I assembled a great team to create Rewire Me. Second, after a lot of hard work we launched the site. Third, I became a certified trainer for Breaking the Habit of Being Yourself workshops. And that was just in the first few months of 2013—not bad! I had learned that people come in and out of your life when they’re supposed to. I realized that failures bring insight and knowledge. And the most valuable change I made was to allow myself to be vulnerable and release my perceptions of what the world thought of me.

On Saturday morning, the opening discussion was about our perception of ourselves, followed by another questionnaire—a very personal one, about statements we tell ourselves. Things like I’m fat, I’m too old, I’m not ready, I’m afraid of… I can’t earn a lot of money because… You know those statements! It was an eye-opening experience that gave me insight into the dialogue I’ve been having with myself most of my life.

On the back of the questionnaire were several essay questions : What would you love to create? What kind of person do you aspire to be? Who is the real you? As Barbara explained, the work of discussion, reflection, and writing sets the premise for creation.

Next we listed all the things we wanted out of our lives and the past we wanted to let go of. One by one we went to the center of the room, said our name, read our list, and threw it into a large pot of flames. By verbalizing the thoughts that torment us, we break our ties, dependencies, and attachments to the ideas that are holding us back. We put our past behind us—or, in our case, brought them to a fiery end.

On Sunday we were ready to create our future—vision board time! Magazines and other print materials were strewn all over the floor, waiting for us to pluck from them the images and words that would help us bring our intentions to life. Some people found Rewire Me postcards in the pile and used them on their boards; I really liked that. I plunged in and started putting my own together.

Rose's Vision Board

I love the final result. It says a lot about who I am, how I honor family and relationships, health and fitness, and that I love to give and receive.

I left on Sunday with my beautiful vision board and a feeling of having kick-started myself into 2014.

How’s your year shaping up so far?

What Is a Vision Board?

A vision board is usually a collage of images that represent goals and dreams . It can include cut-out pictures from magazines and words that help inspire you to manifest your dreams and get where you want to go (here is a complete guide on how to manifest something).

Although vision boarding is a commonly used tool, there is not a lot of research on its effectiveness. Initial research suggests it can help us more easily reach our goals. This may be due to how vision boards help us gain self-awareness and self-reflect on what is important to us.

Vision boards may also help us imagine what a positive future could look like for us. Imagining a positive future is a helpful way to increase positive emotions and optimism . And positive emotions often create opportunities and increase the chances of success.

Even though this research doesn't directly assess the benefits of making a vision board, it suggests that many of the components of vision boarding have potential benefits for our well-being and success. It's just key to remember that vision boards are not magic. Rather, they can help you better understand what it is you'd like to manifest.

Here are some tips to help you make a vision board.

How to Make a Vision Board

Start by exploring your values. If your goals are not aligned with your personal values, achieving these goals won't provide the sense of satisfaction and well-being that you're seeking. Ask yourself, what really matters to you? What gives you meaning? Who do you want to be? Who do you want to help? And how do you want to spend your time? When making a vision board and thinking through your goals, keep these values-focused questions in mind.

Think about what motivates you. If you pursue goals that you find motivating, you'll have an easier time reaching them. So ask yourself, what do you want and why do you want it? Does it have anything to do with your childhood or past experiences? Does it have to do with your personality ?

Try to better understand why the goals you've set are so important to you. Or revise them if you discover they are not as important as you once thought.

Set priorities. Sometimes vision boards can end up being a collection of all the goals we aspire to—being rich, beautiful, and successful. If we really want to achieve these goals, we need to be more realistic with them. What can we reasonably accomplish in a year or five years? You can visualize your priorities by focusing a vision board on your most important life goals or by placing them above, in the center, or over a greater majority of the board.

Potential Problems With Vision Boards

Vision boarding is somewhat controversial in the scientific community. Because vision boards are often associated with the "law of attraction ," which doesn't have scientific support behind it, many assume vision boards are not a useful tool.

It's true that we don't fully understand the precise benefits of vision boards, but the truth is we don't understand the precise benefits of many tools that are used in coaching , counseling, and psychotherapy . That's because testing each one of these tools without the others is quite burdensome research. Anyway, given we know that the very act of setting goals is better than not setting goals, vision boards are indeed likely to be a useful tool, at least for some people.

Vision Board Ideas

Here are some types of goals that you may want to include in a vision board.

  • Social Goals

You can include all of these or make a vision board for each goal, focusing on the details of each. It's up to you. Now it's time to get creative.

The Benefits of Creating a Vision Board

The Benefits of Creating a Vision Board

Things like vision boards get a bad rap.

I’ve been interested in self-improvement and highly goal-oriented for more than a decade, but years ago I wouldn’t touch anything as hokey as a vision board with a ten-foot pole.

However, for one reason or another, I was eventually convinced and now stand as a firm advocate for vision boards and their benefits.

The human imagination is powerful, but it works like a muscle. For most of us, that power remains potential power and it’s never fully utilized.

A vision board allows you to exercise your imagination regularly, creating a more vivid vision of your ideal life as you develop your ability that has real, tangible benefits. None of which require you to believe that things will magically arrive in your mailbox or bank account if you think about them long and hard enough, by the way.

If you have a burning desire to realize a cherished, long-held dream, a clear vision is a must. And a vision board can help you develop the skills to define and shape that within your mind, something that will stay with you long after the board comes down.

Have a vision. It is the ability to see the invisible. If you can see the invisible, you can achieve the impossible. – Shiv Khera

The benefits of creating a vision board

A vision board has several benefits, each incredibly important or valuable in their own way.

Here are the benefits I’ve taken from keeping, and reflecting daily upon, my vision board:

1. A vision board creates an emotional connection that motivates you

Forget attraction, a vision board motivates the crap out of you. Well, it can if it’s done right.

This works especially well if you make your vision board more than just pictures. Make it also about the emotions connected with your vision and the sensory experience of it all. What sounds, smells, and sights are associated with a particular aspect of your vision? What emotions? Relief, wonder, or joy?

A vision board is only as beneficial as the work you’re willing to put into it, so dig in and make it as thorough, exciting, and detailed as possible.

2. A vision board makes real the dream in your mind so you begin to believe it’s possible

When you make something more clear and concrete in your mind, it feels more real and attainable. You start to believe that, hey, I just might be able to make this happen .

That’s one of the most powerful benefits of a vision board. No matter what you believe about yourself, no matter how much self-doubt you have, a vision board done right will slowly begin to transform your inner belief system into one which is more confident, certain, and self-motivated.

3. A vision board helps you clarify what you want out of your life because it forces you to put something down

What if you actually don’t have a burning desire or great, big dream? What if you haven’t really figured it out yet? If you have some vague idea, something you can at least get down on the board, I’ve found it can actually help us clarify our desires.

As you reflect on your vision board each day, certain things pull on you and others become increasingly tiresome. After a while, you begin to notice you don’t really care about this . But that , well that is something you’re excited to reflect on each day.

Go in the direction of those things that pull you and don’t be afraid of modifying your vision over time.

How to create an effective vision board

We’ve touched on a few of the more intangible but critically important parts of creating an effective vision board already.

However, if you’re unfamiliar with the general idea or want to make sure you get things right, here are some basic instructions for putting together a vision board.

1. Get clear on your vision

I assume that if you’re reading this, you already understand the importance of this. However, if you don’t, know that before you can create a vision board you need to have spent a bit of time crafting that vision first.

What are your major goals? Do you have one undying dream for your life? Expand upon that. What will each of the areas of your life -- say professional, financial, relationships, and personal -- look like once you’ve realized that dream?

2. Create a folder and obtain images with Google search

Create a folder, either digital or physical, and start gathering photos that represent each major goal or element of your dream.

My suggestion is to simply do a few quick Google searches. You’ll find images of literally anything you need in a matter of seconds (don’t waste your time going through old magazines).

3. Organize images onto a poster

Once you have your images, all you need to do is put them together in a way that is pleasing and effective for you.

My suggestion is to take your vision board to a different level and, instead of just collaging a bunch of pictures together, create a page or a section on a large poster that represents each goal.

Type up or write a summary of each goal in these different sections and surround it with your pics. That way, when you’re reviewing your vision, the goals are already written within plain view to read and reflect upon instead of having to refer to a separate page with your written goals.

This might end up being a bit large, however, if you use a graphic design service like Canva.com for the entire process you can make everything pretty tight and uniform on a single large poster. However, feel free to use whatever program or process that works best for you.

Once that’s complete, you’ve officially completed your vision board. Just make sure to spend five to ten minutes each day reflecting on it including the emotions and sensory experiences related to each aspect of your vision.

If you do that, you’ll make full use of the incredible benefits of a vision board to motivate you to action and make your dream more believable than ever before.

Jelly Roll Visits His High School Years After He Was Banned

High school is either one of the best times or one of the worst times of your life, depending on how you lived it. You might have nostalgia for the “good old days,” or you might want to leave that part of your life far, far behind.

For famous country star Jelly Roll, the high school years were especially dramatic. In fact, he’s been quite open in the past about those years of drug addiction and legal battles. Things got so bad that he was actually kicked out of his high school in Nashville, Tennessee.

Making his way back

Jelly Roll ended up in jail nearly 40 times before he finally was able to start turning his life around. He was only fourteen years old the first time he went to jail, and he spent his last prison sentence earning his GED. Three years later, he collaborated with Lil Wyte on Pop Another Pill . The video went viral, and Jelly Roll started to ride the wave to fame and fortune.

Despite all his success and a career that has taken him all over the world, high school was somewhere Jelly Roll never thought he’d go back to. He’d been kicked out, banned. He wasn’t supposed to set foot in that school ever again.

Guest of honor

So imagine his surprise when he was invited back…and not just for a visit but for a special pep rally given in his honor! When he walked up to the school’s front door, it was a powerful moment. And this time, when Jelly Roll walked the halls of Antioch High School, students and teachers actually cheered.

“The love and giving back that they showed my husband was the sweetest thing ever to watch,” said Bunnie Xo, host of the Dumb Blonde podcast and Jelly Roll’s wife, as she watched her husband walk down those halls.

The singer and songwriter went all in for the students that day, singing some of his most popular songs in the school gym and staying longer to sign autographs.

Bittersweet memories to last a lifetime

But it wasn’t all roses for Jelly Roll and Bunnie Xo. That same day, she learned that her father, who had been struggling with cancer, passed away. It was a day of strong emotions for the couple, a day of ups and downs.

In a video she posted to TikTok, Bunnie Xo said, “The smiles on those kids’ faces was priceless and what I truly needed in that moment. Thank you Antioch High School students and staff for the warm hug we needed that day. Go, Bears!”

Things came full circle for Jelly Roll the day he was able to go back to his high school for the first time in decades. While high school was not a happy memory for him before, now he can look back on the day of the pep rally and hold Antioch High School closer to his heart. Now he can look back at how far he’s come .

Stranger Has No Idea He's Hitting On A Female MMA Fighter

Dating is hard and courtship is confusing. Why does it seem the men we want to approach us never do and the ones we don't, we can't seem to keep away? We've all been there in one way or another. Someone we do or don't know expresses interest in us and the feeling isn't mutual. So what do we do when the feeling isn't mutual? For lots of single women, sometimes lying is easier. There's the old "I have a boyfriend" trick, or grabbing your nearest girlfriend and saying "we're together." Any white lie will do in order to turn the hot pursuit, cold! But sometimes suitors can be persistent. They put up a good fight – and dodging their advances can be a lot like stepping into the boxing ring. Thankfully, this female MMA fighter, Racquel Todor was more than up for the fight. But she had no idea she would soon meet the stranger who would prove to be a worthy opponent.

Stranger Had No Idea Who He Was About To "Hit On"

Racquel Todor, the rising star in the MMA scene, found herself at the center of attention in an unexpected encounter that left her both amused and bemused. It was just another day for Todor, casually going about her business when a stranger approached her, undoubtedly unaware of the caliber of the woman he was about to meet.

In her Instagram post that swiftly went viral, Todor recounted the scene with a wry sense of humor. The stranger's intentions were clear: he aimed to strike up a conversation, perhaps even ask her out. But Todor, like many women, wasn't exactly thrilled by the prospect. Her nonchalant eye roll spoke volumes, a silent protest against the all-too-familiar scenario of unsolicited advances.

Navigating such encounters can feel like dodging punches in the ring for many women, but Todor's background as an MMA fighter gave her a unique perspective. While she may possess the skills to hold her own in a physical altercation, even she acknowledges the challenge of deflecting unwanted attention with grace and poise.

The stranger, oblivious to Todor's skills, unwittingly stumbled into a situation where he was "hitting on" someone who could hit back — both literally and figuratively. Little did he know, his casual approach would soon lead to an unexpected twist that would leave him, and Todor's audience, utterly stunned.

He Said: "I'm Safe To Reject" And It Made All The Difference

Navigating the world of dating can feel like tiptoeing through a minefield, especially when faced with unwanted advances. Racquel Todor's recent encounter with a stranger hitting on her struck a chord with many women who have found themselves in similar situations.

In the midst of this all-too-common scenario, the stranger's unexpected declaration — "I'm safe to reject" — was a game-changer. It offered Todor a lifeline, a way to gracefully decline without resorting to the usual evasive tactics.

With those four simple words, the stranger shattered the stereotype of rejection leading to hostility or resentment. Instead, he created a space where Todor felt empowered to assert her boundaries without fear of backlash. This small but significant gesture highlights the importance of clear communication and mutual respect in romantic interactions. It's a reminder that consent should never be assumed and that everyone has the right to say no without guilt or judgment.

Women Don't Hate Being "Hit On" — They Hate Feeling Like They Can't "Hit Back"

Todor's experience prompts us to rethink the way we approach dating and relationships. Rather than viewing rejection as a personal affront, we should see it as an opportunity to foster mutual respect and understanding.

"It's not that I dislike being approached," Todor explains. "It's the feeling of being trapped, with no safe exit strategy."

In a culture where the fear of rejection often overshadows genuine connection, Todor's encounter serves as a powerful reminder of the importance of mutual respect. By embracing a mindset of consent and autonomy, we can create a dating landscape where everyone feels valued and respected.

So, the next time you find yourself in a similar situation, remember the significance of those four simple words: "I'm safe to reject." They may just pave the way for a more respectful and empowering approach to dating and relationships.
