Nishabdam Movie Review: A two-hour forced narration to convey a lousy message

Zoom Digital

Nishabdam review: This can be a compelling mystery or a mixed-genre film to those who have never watched the scenic beauty of US constructions and typecast alarming camera movements on the screen.

Silence starring Madhavan and Anushka Shetty Tamil movie review and rating

Key Highlights

  • Nishabdam, named Silence in Tamil, has been directed by Hemanth Madhukar and produced by Kona Venkat who also wrote the screenplay
  • Despite the star casting including Madhavan, Anushka Shetty and Anjali, the film largely lacks the substance to engage the audience
  • The idea to film a mystery thriller with perspective story-telling can be appreciated. However, it has plenty of lethargic loopholes in its 2-hour narration

Silence, named Nishabdam in Tamil , begins with a shot of a secluded villa in Seattle, US followed by a couple dancing for a song holding a glass of wine each. The eerie camera moves to reveal something startling has been set. The scene ends with the couple getting murdered and crucified by an unknown force (typical horror stunts) in the basement of the woodhouse villa. This incident happens in 1972 and hence the place is termed as a haunted villa.

The real story, as narrated by Mahalakshmi a Seattle police officer played by Anjali, begins 49 years after the first incident inside the villa. Sakshi (Anushka Shetty) shows up as a differently-abled (aurally & orally) sketch artist who falls for the world-class cello player, Anthony (Madhavan). Sonali (Shalini Pandey) is a close friend of Sakshi and both of them share a deep relationship while growing up in an orphanage together. Vivek (Subbaraju) is a popular photographer who travels with the key characters in the film.

It takes some time to understand the relationship between the characters in the film until we are 'taught' by the narrators in the course. Speaking about narration, it might feel like the lack of synchronization experienced during a mobile conversation due to network issues. To make the audience engage with the plot, the story-telling aspect should subconsciously guide them into the world of the characters. However, Silence drags the attention of the viewer, which is already lost elsewhere and probably, who may be thinking to pause the film or continue watching later (which would not have been possible in theatres).

The laziness in writing even such a long-forgotten template horror or thriller could be spotted throughout the film. Having said that, the idea to tell a compelling mystery thriller or horror story from varied perspectives deserves appreciation. The whodunnit factor introduced in the middle of the film literally 'betrays' the audience who might have expected to watch a horror or ghost story. Therefore they have to forget the first five minutes, except for the Josephine artwork . The off-beat behavioural pattern of the character Captain Richard Dickens (Michael Madsen) coupled with Maha's self-proclaimed intelligent quotient could allude to the enchantment of a 3-year-old kid in a peek-a-boo game.

The audience should strictly turn off their logical instincts without which, it will be really hard to feel the intricately layered suspense elements like the scene where Richard opens the door of a house with an 'evidence key' but the intruder Maha uses her intellect and finds a window that can be opened in just a slide.

A few minutes before taking the 2-hour forced narration to a halt, the director unveils a series of twists to convey a lousy message about the concept of love. The clean roads of the US, neatly constructed houses, art-galleries, greeneries, local police departments, and explicitly staged performances of actors might create curiosity for people who are not even fond of primary school kids stage plays.

Silence – Review

Photo of Aitamil

Silence, a horror movie directed by Hemant Madhukar, produced by Kona Venkat and Vishwa Prasad and released in Tamil and Telugu at a time. Madhavan and Anushka Shetty play the lead roles and supported by Anjali, Shalini Pandey, Srinivas Avasarala, Subharaju and Michael Madsen. Music by Gopi Sundar and Cinematography by Shaneil Deo.

The story is about Sakshi (Anushka Shetty), a deaf and mute painter who goes to a Mansion in Seattle, America with her fiance Anthony (Madhavan) to get a special painting, available in that mansion building so that she can replicate it. There Anthony gets murdered mysteriously and Police investigates and the story goes on. That building was haunted and left abandoned for many years and so on.

silence tamil movie review

There are many drawbacks in the movie. Opening scene was very nice and promising. The disappointment is no other scene was like that. Nothing impressing and we find it very difficult to stay till the end. Anushka Shetty does the role well as a deaf and mute but not allowing her drawbacks overcome her ambitions. Her acting is not excellent and she is the best among all acted in the film.

Characterizations itself has many flaws. Why Anushka Shetty is deaf and mute and what importance it has got with the story is not clear. Her inability to speak and hear doesn’t make any difference anywhere. This characterization may be to justify the title. But we feel that the title is the answer for all questions arising within us during the movie.

Why Madhavan is a billionaire and a world class cello player and what connection it has got with the story is again a question mark. It seems that it is a ploy not to hamper the image of the renowned actor.

Finally, why the story is set in America, what difference it makes to the story telling is a great mystery. The concept could have been fitted easily anywhere else. By setting the story in U S, we get a very different feeling of the characters struggling in speaking English, the accents are out of sync and the dialogues are like translated from Telugu to English.

Music and Cinematography are remarkable.

The motives of almost all the characters are not explained. The film tries hard to Americanize an ordinary story and to evoke a different feeling. But all that we are left with after seeing the film is the title of the movie, Silence.

People Media Factory மற்றும் Kona Film Corporation படத்தை தயாரித்துள்ளது.

‘Nishabdham’ movie review: A thriller that engages partially

Anushka shetty, r madhavan and anjali have their moments but ‘nishabdham’ barely scratches the surface of a potentially engrossing story.

Updated - October 06, 2020 06:35 pm IST

Published - October 02, 2020 12:36 pm IST

Sangeetha Devi Dundoo

Anushka Shetty in the film

Nishabdham ( Silence in Tamil, Malayalam and Hindi), streaming on Amazon Prime Video, is a Telugu film in which the silence could have been used better. It has a protagonist with hearing and speech impairment — painter Sakshi (Anushka Shetty) who converses with sign language and uses her mobile phone text-to-voice converter to good effect. As though to counter this, the investigative police officer Mahalakshmi (Anjali) doubles up as the sutradhar (narrator) and many a time, is made to over-simply things for viewers.

  • Cast: Anushka Shetty, R Madhavan, Anjali and Shalini Pandey
  • Direction: Hemanth Madhukar
  • Music: Gopi Sundar, Girishh Gopalakrishnan
  • Streaming on: Amazon Prime Video

On a holiday post their engagement, Antony and Sakshi stop by a haunted house to find a painting. A sudden turn of events makes the house a scene of the crime, after nearly 47 years. Meanwhile, there have been cases of missing young women, including Sakshi’s friend Sonali.

Shaneil Deo’s camera and Girishh Gopalakrishnan’s background score subtly and effectively amplify the mood of the thriller, using a less-is-more approach. The songs composed by Gopi Sundar are good too but one of them feels out of place, cropping up at a crucial point in the thriller.

As we warm up to the characters and plot points, a few things feel amiss. Some characters are painted in broad strokes that it becomes easy to guess an ulterior motive.

Some segments work well — like the fleeting moments in the beginning when the director wants us to ‘hear’ the world from Sakshi’s perspective, or Antony teaching her to play the cello by paying heed to the reverberation of the notes. However, this aesthetic film with able actors left me cold when the big reveal happens.

The manner in which the big reveal happens is a huge letdown. For all the work that Maha is shown to do, she’s conveniently forgotten and we get answers to the ‘who’ and ‘why’ through someone else as a long flashback, out of the blue.

The actors try to work with the given material. Anushka has that arresting screen presence and emotes well, as though words don’t matter much. Madhavan is saddled with a character that could have had more depth, but he still pulls it off. Shalini makes her presence felt in a role that warrants her to be little else than a grumpy, over-possessive friend. Subbaraju gets his moments to shine and I wish it had been the case with Srinivas Avasarala too, who is underutilised. But then, that can also be said of Michael Madsen who is cast in a unidimensional role as an obnoxious cop. Anjali is good; if only the story and screenplay had allowed her to get to the bottom of the puzzle, this would have been a different film, and she too would have had more scope.

And, oh, whatever happened to the mystery of the ghost, with which the film begins. The glaring missteps make Nishabdham underwhelming.

Silence review

The plot goes from annoying to unconvincing in no time and as a viewer, you feel like a mute scapegoat, taken for granted, notes Divya Nair.

silence tamil movie review

In the last few months, there has been a steady flow of multilingual thrillers on the OTT, most of which have failed to impress despite their impressive casts.

The latest is Nishabdham , dubbed as Silence in Tamil.

Directed by Hemant Madhukar, Silence begins with an exhausting monologue of a haunted villa somewhere in Seattle where a couple is killed.

Years later, Anthony (played by Madhavan), a world renowned cello player, visits the place along with his fiancé Sakshi (Anushka), a deaf and mute painter in search of a painting.

While Anthony is killed mysteriously in the villa, Sakshi escapes miraculously.

Investigators Maha (Anjali) and Richard (Michael Madsen) attempt to put together the missing pieces to understand whether the incident was a murder or a supernatural event.

The film's title could be a metaphor to the deaf and mute Sakshi (meaning 'witness'), who is the only witness to a gruesome event that leaves her traumatised.

But as the film progresses, you realise that maybe you are expecting too much from this wannabe product that doesn't even have an original story line.

Twenty minutes into the film, we see a female investigator who gets excited meeting someone from her hometown, picks up clues like stones from mundane conversations she has at her home, and sneaks up on people's properties like she is some private detective with superhuman powers.

Soon, things start crumbling one after the other like someone moved the wrong jenga block.

The plot goes from annoying to unconvincing in no time and as a viewer, you feel like a mute scapegoat, taken for granted.

Even as the characters and sub plots keep emerging, they fail to pique your interest.

None of the characters do justice to their roles.

In fact, it could easily be one of the lowest ranked films in Madhavan and Anushka's filmography.

Silence leaves you with lots of questions the director should have been asked by everyone who agreed to sign up for this debacle.

Like, why is the film set in Seattle?

Why a cello player?

What is the significance of the haunted house?

Where does Maha's brain get all these (insert your favourite expletive) ideas from?

But most importantly, why did they cast Tarantino favourite ( Reservoir Dogs, Kill Bill, Once Upon A Time in Hollywood ) Michael Madsen?

In fact, as you watch the film, you'll have more questions than the film itself.

It has been 11 years since Madhavan surprised us with his performance in 13B , a spooky, edge of the seat thriller.

Cut to 2020, a young reporter asks Madhavan, once the blue-eyed boy of romance why he is doing lesser films and the actor jokes that he’s getting old and has become a somberi (lazy).

Well, that can be the only explanation why he signed up for this misadventure.

And imagine they wanted to make this film with no audio. Let's just thank our stars that we were spared of that experiment.

This review gets a zero star rating.

Silence Movie Review

With time, the OTT platform is beginning to see big budget flicks, even of big stars landing in on its platform. Though, the Bollywood entertainment industry has already embraced the OTT platform to an extent, the South Indian cinema industry is still hesitant to place its balls on it. With Jyothika’s Ponmagal Vandhal, Keerthy Suresh’s Penguin, Varalaxmi Sarath Kumar’s Danny, and Vaibhav’s Lock Up being the only few entertainers previously reaching the audience on their hand devices, in comes a decent budget film Silence . From trying to craft the nature of his lead characters in an intriguing way to attempting to keep the audience hooked with split screen horror angles, director Hemant Madhukar has ambitiously moved things. But has he succeeded in his attempt? To know let us get in to the review.

Silence Movie Review - Anushka Shetty, Anjali, Madhavan

Silence Movie Review – Anushka Shetty, Anjali, Madhavan

Silence begins with depicting an event that took place in the 1970’s on a Christmas night in a villa nearby Seattle in the U.S. A young couple are entertaining themselves with wine, music, and dance. Moments later, the girl begins to head upstairs while the boy goes to the basement. Bam, we have the conventional thrill elements the flickering of bulbs and demonic background score. The girl begins to walk towards the basement and shrieks at the sight of her brutally murdered boyfriend. The crime goes unsolved and as the result the house is tagged haunted around the surrounding. The scene cuts to 2019 where the house is bought and renovated except for the basement by a Colombian businessman who lists the house as a rental property.

Then we get the introduction of our protagonist Sakshi ( Anushka Shetty ), a deaf-mute woman who grew up in an orphanage. Sakshi is a talented artist and her art works are well received. She displays her works at exhibitions and raise funds for the orphanage. During one such event a much celebrated cellist Anthony Gonzalves ( Madhavan ) comes across Sakshi and is smitten by her. He purchases Sakshi’s painting for a million dollar. Sakshi expresses her gratitude and informs him that half of the money will be going to the orphanage. Then the eventuality happens; Sakshi falls for Anthony Gonzalves in no time. Sakshi’s close friend Sonali ( Shalini Pandey ) has trepidation over Anthony Gonzalves. In spite that Sakshi gets engaged to him.

One day Sakshi and Anthony Gonzalves go on a short trip to the haunted house just to see a painting that Sakshi’s is more interested in and plans on replicating. The couple reaches the place and gets in to the house, but before we could settle in, Anthony Gonzalves is murdered in the exact pattern as the guy who was murdered in the 1970’s. Shocked Sakshi flees for her life and wakes up in a hospital. In walks Maha ( Anjali ), a detective and Michael Madsen, a cop in the Seattle Police Department to investigate the mysterious murder of renowned cellist Anthony Gonzalves. Their every attempt to solve the case ends in a road block. Meanwhile, Sakshi’s close friend Sonali is found to be missing since the murder. Does Sonali’s disappearance has anything to do with the murder or is there a ghost angle to the murder, is what makes the rest of the flick.

The strength of any murder mystery thriller depends on the knots that it knits at the beginning, then the gradual unfolding of the knots, and startling revelations towards the end. Silence knits the same clichéd knots that many thriller films have done in the past and the twists in the flick are so predictable that one can foresee what is coming even after missing out few minutes of the drama. The director’s minimal use of visual narrative and predominant deployment of voiceover narrative kills the thrill of the thriller entertainer. There are also some key elements which were used to lure the audience’s attention initially but were left out half way through. For instance, the speech and hearing impairment of the lead character which seemed like some sort of allegory has no real impact in the plot. The rest of the characters are also half baked and walk in and out of the plot to the comfort of the story teller.

Though it is good to witness actress Anushka Shetty after quite a while, one could clearly agree it is surely not one of her best performances. Also, the weak characterization makes it even difficult to bear. Actor Madhavan who has been away from acting for quite some time has returned to acting. He has a very short screen time, more sort of extended guest appearance. But he is the saving grace of the film and essays off his different shades role with ease and makes his presence felt in short phase. Actress Anjali suffers in an awkwardly misplaced role. Surprising the much expected Kill Bill star Michael Madsen’s character has no depth in affecting the flow of the plot and only raises the question of his presence in the flick. Actress Shalini Pandey struggles even in a simple role.

On the technical front, musicians G. Girish, Gopi Sundar and Vishwajeet Jaykar have done a decent job to make thrilling moments effective. Cinematographer Shaneil Deo’s frames have wonderfully covered the beauty of Seattle, especially during the night. Editor Prawin Pudi’s pointless use of split screen leaves us in splits.

On the whole, director Hemant Madhukar ambitiously attempts to dish out an interesting thriller but it is his own lazy writing and narrative style that has squandered the chance of making one.

Nishabdham: R Madhavan, Anushka Shetty’s Thriller Fails to Impress

Despite stars like r madhavan and anushka shetty this thriller turns out to be a disappointment..

Nishabdham opens with a couple dancing in 1972. The setting for this thriller is a simple villa situated outside Seattle. When the woman excuses herself to change her dress, the man – feeling invited by the cacophony emanating from the basement – walks towards the inevitable, and is killed by a ghost. This premise is the best part of the film as everything goes downhill from here. There’s not a single redeeming point beyond the first seven minutes in this R Madhavan and Anushka Shetty-starrer and that should tell you how disappointing the film is.

I picked the Tamil version (titled Silence ) and switched over to the Telugu version half-an-hour into the movie as I was under the impression that at least the latter would have no problems with the lip-sync. Alas, my method failed since Nishabdham , too, looked like it had been dubbed in parts. Therefore, it doesn’t matter which version you choose, you’ll still watch the tale of Anthony (Madhavan) and Sakshi (Anushka Shetty) with some amount of raw irritation.

Despite stars like R Madhavan and Anushka Shetty this thriller turns out to be a disappointment.

The basic elements of the protagonists seem to have been taken from the popular 2007 Tamil film, Mozhi, where Jyothika played a deaf-mute character with Prithviraj stepping into the shoes of a musician.

Here, Anthony is a celebrated cello player and Sakshi (who is deaf and mute) is an artist. While the dashing Anthony is adored by thousands for his ability to transport his listeners into a state bordering tranquility, Sakshi is known to just a couple of folks who fall within her circle. But the movie doesn’t dwell on their artistic sides much, as their professional lives are merely used as a device to bring the principal characters together. Though, there are many portions involving the duo indulging in their creative fields separately, the director’s (Hemant Madhukar) focus appears to be far removed from that area.

Since Sakshi doesn’t speak, the people around her keep talking and fill in for her silence. Only the introductory bits where she romances Anthony from the back seat of the car are shot from her perspective. As soon as that part of the story is established, a song unnecessarily pops up and puts a spoke in Nishabdham’s wheel. If you want to know more about why they’re going to a haunted villa, you’ll have to wait for a few more minutes and that’s how your patience begins to wear off.

Despite stars like R Madhavan and Anushka Shetty this thriller turns out to be a disappointment.

Like any good thriller, Nishabdham also revolves around a crime that unspools over the course of two hours, but what’s annoying about it is the way it employs the narrative voice – Maha (Anjali) as a ‘crime detective’ attached to the Seattle Police Department connects zero dots and learns nothing new about Anthony, or Sakshi, and the entire weight of solving the murder is shifted elsewhere. There’s an old Tamil joke about how cops arrive after everything’s been done and dusted, and, maybe, that holds good for Maha’s arc, as well. She is, in fact, called the ‘top investigative detective’ by the Captain (Richard Dickens, played by Michael Madsen), but she’s not given the opportunity to dig into any facts.

Despite stars like R Madhavan and Anushka Shetty this thriller turns out to be a disappointment.

With the sidelining of Maha during a major chunk of the third act, Hemant Madhukar is telling us that he has not yet realised the pleasure of taking the audience along with his characters on a trip.  That’s why the Tamil thriller Vellai Pookal (2019), starring Vivek in the lead, scores better. There, the cop traced the journey of the crumbs left by the killer and slowly put the pieces together. Plus, it was shot in the US and featured American actors. Here, the Americans behave like body doubles for Indians. All the dialogues uttered by the Captain feel like they were first written in Telugu and then translated into English. The emotions are, however, left untranslated and that makes the scenes come across as silly and jaded.

What’s the use of having two cops and not pulling them into the drama? Both of them almost watch the proceedings from the sidelines and yet manage to find a spot in the climax. If the knots get untied, in thrillers, in the form of dialogues and voiceovers, it’s the result of shoddy writing and the actors, by thumb rule, lose their chance to drive the plot. That happens throughout the film.

Moreover, the most interesting element happens to be about the different relationships that Sakshi shares with her confidantes – Sonali (Shalini Pandey) and Vivek (Subbaraju) – and they don’t get the spotlight they deserve. I’m not talking about their screen time exactly. This is actually about how their characters are shaped, as they don’t add great value to the output.

Individually speaking, Anushka, Madhavan, Subbaraju, Anjali, and Srinivas Avasarala (as Maha’s husband) are actors who have proved their worth in numerous films. If they get their hands on a terrific script, they are sure to mesmerise you, but, in Nishabdham , they’re in a pickle. And I’m going to sign off the review with this last bit of detail: writer-director Bharathiraja’s four-decade-old Tamil classic, Sigappu Rojakkal, which falls in the same category (the central idea of a man’s quest for vengeance because he’s been wronged by women) will still awe the new-age viewers for its directness and boldness and it’s a milestone that Hemant has missed by a long shot.

Silence/Nishabdham Review - The amateurishness is deafening!

Silence/Nishabdham - The amateurishness is deafening!

Bharath Vijayakumar

What is it with South Indian OTT releases featuring leading ladies. Leaving aside the quality of the films, there seems to be more than one similarity. This could be mere coincidence but Ponmagal Vandhal, Penguin and now Nishabdham/Silence. Slightly darker films with a rather brooding female at the forefront must be the first thing that comes to mind when these makers sit down to decide a project!

Nishabdham gets into business right away. There is a murder within the first few minutes and few minutes later we are introduced to Sakshi (Anushka) and Anthony (Madhavan). What also gets registered in these first few minutes is a sense of disappointment because a certain amateurish feel is unmistakable and this despite the presence of established stars on screen. Sakshi is an artist and Anthony is a musician. Does any of this information really matter? Not really, but I need to write something about the movie. Hence kindly bear with me.

Anjali (investigating officer) along with her boss (played by American actor Michael Madsen) provide some respite for us in the form of unintended humour. Both these actors seem to be the only ones excited about the film but that only means we need to put up with their histrionics. Atleast with Michael there is a certain intrigue with the way he moves around but Anjali trying to be all serious and yet cool only ends up being unintentionally funny.

It is tough to analyse where something went wrong because right through the film there is very little that really works. The later portions with a crucial reveal does hold some interest and you can now see that the one liner did have potential. This also explains why these established stars probably signed up for the film. But the execution leaves a lot to be desired.

Bottomline:

With those twists towards the end, there is a possibility that the one liner might have sounded interesting. But Nishabdham / Silence is painfully uninteresting with a meandering focus, characters that you don't care for and performances that range from bad to perfunctory!

'Silence' movie review: Anushka Shetty-starrer is a mess

Follow Us :

Cast: Anushka Shetty, R Madhavan, Anjali, Shalini Pandey, Subbaraju and Michael Madsen

Director: Hemant Madhukar

Language : Tamil

Rating : 1.5/5

The eagerly-awaited Silence , which released on Amazon Prime Video on Friday, is a lousy attempt at storytelling that fails to make an impact. The film revolves around what happens when a differently-abled artist/painter is dragged into a murder investigation under unexpected circumstances.

The basic premise is interesting and has enough 'masala' to satisfy a section of the audience. Its impact, however, is diluted due to the flawed execution. The screenplay lacks depth and feels rushed. None of the characters have been fleshed out properly and this makes it impossible for the viewer to relate with the reel action.

Also read : Not Anushka Shetty but this powerhouse performer was the first choice for 'Nishabdham'? The opening sequences of Silence are as cliched as cliched can be and don't really have much to do with the rest of the narrative. The opening 30 minutes are highly skippable as they fail to create the universe of Silence.

The romantic track between R Madhavan and Anushka Shetty fails to make an impact as it is half-baked and superficial. The scenes focussing on Anjali's personal life feel forced and do not really gel with the narrative. The interrogation sequences, which are usually the backbone of a thriller/murder-mystery, are yawn-inducing as they do not have the urgency needed to make an impact.

The last 30 minutes, however, are a bit better than expected and manage to give the audience something to root for. The proverbial final stretch features two major twists, which make a decent impact. The scenes depicting the bond between Anushka and Shalini too are okayish. They, however, would have made a stronger impact had the screenplay been up to the mark.

The climax too is passable.

Coming to the performances, 'Devasena' puts her best foot forward and tries her level best to salvage Silence . Her expressions and hand moments are convincing and prove that she has put in the effort to get into the skin of her character.

Madhavan is decent and makes his presence felt in the flashback sequences. 'Maddy', however, deserved a better film and a meatier role. Anjali is urderutilised and burdened with a one-dimensional character. Shalini and Subbaraju get limited scope to showcase their abilities. Michael Madsen is good in the closing moments of Silence and this proves that he is a stellar performer.

The supporting cast is strictly okay.

The songs really do not blend with the narrative, slowing down an already sluggish movie. The background music is bland and fails to add a new dimension to the movie. The sound design too feels a bit generic. The editing is not as good as expected as a few scenes drag. The other technical aspects are up to the mark.

Silence is a 2020 Indian Tamil -language mystery film directed by Hemant Madhukar and co-produced by Kona Venkat and T. G. Vishwa Prasad. The film stars Anushka Shetty, R. Madhavan, Michael Madsen, Anjali, Shalini Pandey and Subbaraju. Although the film was intended to have no dialogues, it was simultaneously shot in Tamil as Silence. The film is released along with the dubbed versions in Malayalam and Kannada languages, through Amazon Prime Video on 2 October 2020.

In 1972, a couple spending Christmas night at a villa near Seattle is mysteriously murdered, with the male victim being crucified. The King County takes possession of the villa, which remains unsold until 2019 due to its reputation as a haunted house. Sakshi, a deaf-mute artist, travels with her fiancé to the villa to find a painting of a previous owner whose ghost is believed to have killed the couple. However, she runs away blood-stained after a while and gets hit by a car. Detective Mahalakshmi and Captain Richard Dawkins are assigned to investigate. It is revealed that Sakshi’s fiancé has died in the basement, and as his corpse is taken out, a key falls from his hand. Maha interrogates Sakshi in the hospital, learning that she found his body crucified and could not see the attacker. Maha then researches the victim, Anthony Gonsalves, a famous cellist whose previous wife committed suicide.

As many girls have already gone missing in Seattle, the police are under heavy scrutiny. The initial investigation is inconclusive, so Sakshi is interviewed again. It is revealed that soon after her engagement with Anthony, Sakshi’s best friend Sonali went missing. Sakshi recounts her past. She grew up in an orphanage in Sequim where she met Sonali. One day, she received an invitation to show her art in a Seattle gallery. Sonali, who is very possessive, does not agree but changes her mind after deciding to live with Sakshi. At the gallery, Sakshi meets Vivek, a photographer. Anthony, a new exhibition’s guest of honor, meets Sakshi and is impressed with her work. He donates a million dollars to her orphanage and invites her to his concert. Sakshi attends and is mesmerized by his music. They grow closer and eventually fall in love and get engaged. After Sonali went missing, she decided to go to the villa for a week to relax and find the painting.

Maha realises that Sonali wants all of Sakshi’s attention after seeing similar behavior in a child. She goes to the orphanage to investigate Sonali’s disappearance, suspecting a connection to Anthony’s death. She learns that Sonali’s only friend was Sakshi, even getting arrested for stabbing someone who went out with her. Maha also discovers a drawing of a crucifixion in Sonali’s room. Concerned, Maha goes to Sakshi’s house and encounters a hooded man who escapes after she shoots at him. The police searches the villa again, hoping to discover evidence against Sonali. Tom finds the key in the basement brings it to Richard, who kills Tom and pockets it. Maha notices Richard’s coat button next to Tom’s corpse and suspects his involvement, so she breaks into his office and gets the key. She then trails Richard and follows him to a farmhouse, which she discovers secretly belongs to Anthony. Richard searches for the house’s CCTV footage to no avail and leaves. Soon afterwards, the hooded man, revealed to be Vivek, who took the footage earlier, meets with Sakshi at the Space Needle, where a flashback occurs.

Vivek and Sakshi became good friends and started living together with Sonali, who becomes jealous. Vivek is hurt, but Sakshi explains Sonali’s nature. When Sonali and Sakshi were baristas, a customer asked Sakshi out. Sonali insists that he is a flirt and tried to prove it. Sonali and Sakshi go out with him for coffee, and Sonali rubbed his leg. The customer put his hand up Sonali’s skirt under the table, so she brought her hand up and stabbed it with a fork, leading to her arrest. Vivek decides to give Sonali a chance, and they begin to get along. With Sakshi’s encouragement, Vivek and Sonali fall in love. Later on, when Anthony proposes to Sakshi, Sonali is displeased. One day after Anthony’s concert, his fans greet him. Some kiss him and even give him their phone number. Sonali tries to convince Sakshi that Anthony is also a flirt, but Sakshi dismisses her.

Sonali texts him flirtatiously to prove it. He refuses at first but eventually agrees to meet her. Sakshi reassured Sonali that he does not have bad intentions, but Sonali went to meet him anyway, with Sakshi secretly observing them. She sees them drink and get intimate in the farmhouse. However, Anthony suddenly kills Sonali. Richard arrives at the scene and helps Anthony clean up the scene. Sakshi left unnoticed and told Vivek what happened. They went to the police station, where she recognized Richard. Anthony brought Sakshi to Richard again to report Sonali’s disappearance, where she saw a poster for a girl who gave Anthony her number. Sakshi discovered that the dates of the disappearances coincide with Anthony’s concerts. She planned to take revenge with Vivek by deceiving Anthony to go to the villa so Vivek can kill him. After Anthony is knocked out and restrained, they interrogate him after he wakes up.

Anthony reveals that he killed his wife and her lover at a motel for their unfaithfulness. Richard entered the room and decided to let him continue. When he went to meet Richard outside, Richard reveals he had come to the same motel to investigate his wife, who was also cheating on him in another room. Anthony then proceeded to kill Richard’s wife, and Richard helps cover up the murders. Subsequently, Anthony begins killing all unfaithful women who hit on him, and Richard hides all the bodies and evidence. Upon hearing this, Sakshi kills Anthony in rage.

In the present, Sakshi and Vivek decide to expose Richard to the FBI using the footage. However, Richard kidnaps Vivek and holds him hostage. Maha, who put a tracker on Richard’s car earlier, kills Richard and saves them. Afterwards, Richard and Anthony’s crimes are finally proven, and Anthony’s murder officially remains unsolved. The film ends with Sakshi and Vivek paying respects to Sonali at her grave.
