What is the sum of the digits of 72? 7 + 2 = 9 Is the sum of the digits divisible by 3? Yes the sum of digits is 9. So 9 is divisible by 3. 72 is divisible by 6 . So, 6 is a factor of 72.

How are divisibility and factors related? Explain. Answer: Divisibility rules are a collection of general rules that we use to check if a given number is entirely divisible by another number. Point out that “divisible by” means that when we divide one number by another, the result is a whole number. That is, a number ‘a’ is divisible by another number ‘b’ if the division a ÷ b is exact (no remainder). For example, 12 ÷ 4 = 3; therefore, 12 is divisible by 4. Also, 12 is divisible by 3, because we can write the other division 12 ÷ 3 = 4. So, 12 is divisible by both 4 and 3. We can also say 4 and 3 are divisors or factors of 12. A factor of a number divides the number evenly. This means the quotient is a whole number and the remainder is 0.
