Essay on causes of divorce – example, sample.

Admin

Extramarital affairs is the main reason for divorces (Oliver). Infidelity causes anger and resentment among those who are married, and often tears apart the emotional connection couples have. Though one event of infidelity can be tackled through counseling, multiple accounts of extramarital affairs usually result in divorce.

Another main reason why people get divorced is money. Different spending habits, opposite financial goals, and a lack of money can produce great strain on a marriage (Oliver). If the couple has children, money becomes even more vital to the sustainability of the relationship.

Though it may seem minor, a lack of communication is another key reason for divorce. If one or both partners in the marriage feel they cannot express themselves properly, or feel they are not being listened to, resentment can easily settle in (Oliver). Yelling and interrupting are common signs that a couple is not communicating well.

Some people cannot stand the amount of arguments they have with their partners. If couples are bickering constantly, the joy of marriage cannot show through (Oliver). Arguments commonly stem from not being able to understand another person’s view, which is essential in a healthy relationship.

Unfortunately, weight gain leads to many divorces. Say if a couple started out as both skinny, and one partner became overweight, the attraction to that partner might be lost. That loss of attraction causes many to turn in divorce papers, as they cannot fathom staying in a relationship with someone they do not feel comfortable with in a romantic way (Oliver).

Another prominent cause of divorce is unreasonable expectations (Oliver). It is good for the partners in marriage to discuss each other’s expectations before signing the matrimony papers, as partners often have varying expectations of what the marriage entails, and the positions the partners will hold in it. Sometimes one partner will have lofty expectations for the marriage without his or her partner realizing it.

Though love should be the overriding reason to get married, it seems, a lack of intimacy causes many couples to get divorced. The romantic, maybe even infatuated love that married couples feel in the beginning of their marriages eventually subsides. It is natural, but how the partners deal with this decrease in sexual contact often decides how the future marriage will pan out (Oliver).

Though common sense, equality in marriages is not often achieved. Each partner should feel equal in the marriage, and not dominated. Though it is delicate balance, it can be accomplished. Those who cannot achieve this often ask for a divorce, as they feel they are being shackled by his or her marriage instead of feeling a sense of joy and happiness from the relationship (Oliver).

Alas, some people are not prepared for marriage. Many people rush to get married in a romantic frenzy without taking in the consequences of such an action (Oliver). They could be unprepared in terms of financial stability, emotional stability, and mental stability. Surprisingly, the age group with the highest rate of divorce are people in their 20s (Oliver). So, when getting married, be sure that you feel that everything is set for the occasion.

A sad fact about marriages is that with emotional, physical, and mental strain, abuse can follow. This abuse does not have to refer to only physical abuse, but also emotional and psychological abuse (Oliver). Abuse can come from both men and women, and should not be thought of only as an attack against women, however women are subject to most of the physical abuse that occurs.

As you can see, the cause of divorce is multifaceted. Though one issue might put enough pressure on a marriage for the couple to go for a divorce, commonly a combination of problems arise that lend to the couple pondering the end of their relationship. Through infidelity, money issues, a lack of communication, constant arguing, weight gain, unrealistic expectations, a lack of intimacy, a lack of equality, a lack of preparedness, and abuse, marriages are broken. It is important for couples, therefore, to get counseling when any of these issues arise.

Sometimes expository essays can cover more complex topics. Moreover, they can also be sensitive ones as well. So it’s crucial to find proper words and objective arguments to clearly express your opinion. Have you asked yourself: “What is a good homework help website that could give me useful insights on this type of writing?” Then, you might want to check the reviews on the topic, as there are plenty of options to choose from.

How it works

Married with someone is an important decision of everyone life, so most people think carefully before they get married, and they all expect they will have a longevity married. However, some couples could not maintain their relationship after living together anymore, so they get a divorce which is one of the way to solve the problems between wife and husband. There are many reasons lead to couples’ divorce, but in my opinion, there are three main causes of divorce are infidelity, weak communication skill, and unrealistic expectations.

The first significant cause of divorce is infidelity which is the act of being unfaithful to a wife or husband by having other special relationship. As everyone knows, marriage is a relationship based on faith, belief and feelings for each other. When a spouse betrays this trust, it causes pain and suffering to the other partner. In addition, no one wants to share a wife or husband to another person. It is unacceptable to some people, so they could not forgive to their wife or husband if their spouse cheat on them. Due to the pain and the unacceptable when the partner are not faithful, couples decide to divorce to escape each other. This is why infidelity becomes one of the leading factors cause to divorce.

Another cause of divorce is communication skill. Communication is essential for healthy and lasting relationships, so when couples are lack of communication, it can make them boring and misunderstanding. For example, after more than five years together, my ant and her husband found their marriage on the brink because my ant used of the silent treatment whenever problems arose or whenever she was not satisfied with her husband. She admitted that her poor communication made her husband confuse what she wanted or what she did not want him to do for her, and the distance about feeling between them slowly become bigger. Consequently, they decided to divorce. In contrast, too much arguing is also destroying a marrige. In fact, arguing is a nomal action in the family life because arguing helps to solve the problem, but some people do not think that. They argue with their spouse just because they want to become a winner eventhough their reason do not make any sense. Then their little problems expand to big problems, resulting in divorce. Therefore, either too talkative or too quiet can lead to divorce.

Beside the infidelity and communication skill lead to divorce, the unrealistic expectations to spouses is the third cause of divorce. Men and women both have a lot of expectation from their marriage. Some expectations are important such as the respect, the honesty, or the kindness, but some are unrealistic. For instance, men expect their spouse can keep the nice body shape like the day they first date, or women hope their man have a lot of money to buy them expensive stuffs. However, the reality is not like they expect. Indeed, women after give birth they will have more work to do, so they do not have much time to take care of themselves like before, so they will gain their weight or they are getting older. Man are the same situation, they will have more thing to spend their money such as their children stuffs or their house expenses, so their wife will be no more gotten the luxury gift from them. These expectations can put a lot of strain on the other partners, and leaving the spouse feeling disappointed; as a result, that can ruin the marriage relationship.

No marriage is easy, and to keep the healthy and longevity relationship is even more difficult. I believe that cheating on spouse, having bad communication skill, and expecting too high on spouse are cause to the divorce. Divorce is painful, so people need to think more carefully before they are getting maried, and getting divorce as well.

Essays About Divorce: Top 5 Examples and 7 Prompts

Essays about divorce can be challenging to write; read on to see our top essay examples and writing prompts to help you get started.

Divorce is the legal termination of a marriage. It can be a messy affair, especially if it includes children. Dividing the couple’s assets also often causes chaos when divorce proceedings are in session.

Divorce also touches and considers religion and tradition. Therefore, laws are formed depending on the country’s history, culture, and belief system.

To help you choose what you want to talk about regarding this topic, here are examples you can read to get an idea of what kind of essay you want to write.

1. Divorce Should Be Legalized in the Philippines by Ernestine Montgomery

2. to divorce or not to divorce by mark ghantous, 3. what if you mess up by manis friedman, 4. divorce: a life-changing experience by writer louie, 5. divorce’s effects on early adult relationships by percy massey, 1. the major reasons for divorce, 2. why i support divorce, 3. my divorce experience, 4. how to avoid divorce, 5. divorce and its effects on my family, 6. the consequences of divorce, 7. divorce laws around the world.

“What we need is a divorce law that defines clearly and unequivocally the grounds and terms for terminating a marriage… Divorce is a choice and we all should have the freedom to make choices… in cases where a union is more harmful than beneficial, a divorce can be benevolent and less hurtful way of severing ties with your partner.”

As the title suggests, Montgomery and his other colleagues discuss why the Philippines, a predominantly Catholic country, needs to allow divorce. Then, to strengthen his argument, he mentions that Spain, the root of Christianity, and Italy, where the Vatican City is, administer divorce.

He also mentions bills, relevant figures, and statistics to make his case in favor of divorce more compelling. Montgomery adds that people who want a divorce don’t necessarily mean they want to marry again, citing other motives such as abuse and marital failure.

“Divorce, being the final step in a detrimental marriage, brings upon the gruesome decision as to whether a married couple wishes to end that once made commitment they had for each other. As opposed to the present, divorce was rare in ancient times…”

Ghantous starts his essay with what divorce means, as not only an end of a commitment but also the termination of legal duties and other obligations of the couple to each other. He then talks about divorce in ancient times, when men had superior control over women and their children. He also mentions Caroline Norton, who fought with English family law that was clearly against women.

“So even though G‑d has rules,… laws,… divine commandments, when you sin, He tells you: ‘You messed up? Try again.’ That’s exactly how you should be married — by treating your spouse the way G‑d treats you. With that much mercy and compassion, that much kindness and consideration.”

Friedman’s essay discusses how the Torah sees marriage and divorce and explains it by recounting a scene with his daughters where they couldn’t follow a recipe. He includes good treatment and forgiveness necessary in spouses. But he also explains that God understands and doesn’t want people in a failed marriage to continue hurting. You might also be interested in these essays about commitment .

“Depending on the reasons that led up to the divorce the effects can vary… I was fourteen years old and the one child that suffered the most emotional damage… My parents did not discuss their reasons for the divorce with me, they didn’t have to, and I knew the reasons.”

The author starts the essay by citing the famous marital promise: “For better or worse, for richer or poorer,” before going in-depth regarding the divorce rate among Americans. He further expounds on how common divorce is, including its legalities. Although divorce has established legal grounds, it doesn’t consider the emotional trauma it will cause, especially for children.

Louie recounts how his life changed when his dad moved out, listing why his parents divorced. He ends the essay by saying society is at fault for commercializing divorce as if it’s the only option.

“With divorce becoming more prevalent, many researchers have taken it upon themselves to explore many aspects of this topic such as evolving attitudes, what causes divorce, and how it effects the outcome of children’s lives.”

Massey examines the causes of divorce and how it impacts children’s well-being by citing many relevant research studies. Some of the things he mentions are the connection between the child’s mental health, behavioral issues, and future relationships. Another is the trauma a child can endure during the divorce proceedings.

He also mentions that some children who had a broken family put marriage on a pedestal. As a result, they do their best to create a better future family and treat their children better.

Causes and Effects of Divorce

Introduction, effects of divorce, works cited.

Since 1860 when the United States Bureau of statistics started keeping records of divorces, the frequency of divorce cases has continued to increase based on the same reasons. Reasons have remained relatively the same in comparison to the ever-increasing rise in cases. Studies have also highlighted that the reasons are as complex as extramarital affairs to mediocre reasons such as irritating small behaviors of the partner. It is widely accepted that divorce is part of life and separation between two persons is bound to continue (Wallerstein, p. 85). However, there have been some misinterpretations of the findings collected by current researchers. It is important to note that these findings are based on earlier conclusions based on research that was most likely liable to errors and mistakes. Such research findings and papers have been assumed as true thus setting the precedence of misinformation. It is thus the purpose of this paper to clarify earlier findings in order for us to present the true picture of the causes and effects of divorces.

Reasons for divorce have always remained sketchy as the real reasons can only be known by the two couples. However the most common forms of reasons that have led to the separation of couples include:

Money : This reason has always remained an emotive issue among couples as this is clearly manifested by ninety percent of the couples who surveyed, responded that they may have fought over money at least once during their relationship. 30% of respondents admitted to separating over other issues which were compounded by lack of money.

Sexual Problems : This reason in most cases has always been denied by couples as physical conditions or sexual malfunctions are considered to be uncommon (Wallerstein 101). Sexual problems are largely contributed to preconceived notions and ideas that are based on unacceptable attitudes towards sex. It was difficult for the couples to approach the topic of sex. Over fifty percent of couples admitted that a sexual problem was the root cause of infidelity within their marriages.

Immaturity: Many couples separated from each other after the couples exhibited behavior that the partner saw as inappropriate and childish. Such behaviors later behavior are then seen as intolerable making life difficult for both as there exists a lack of understanding between the couples.

Alcohol and substance abuse: This is also one of the most commonly cited issues among separating couples. Although data on abuse is not conclusive, many couples have often cited substance abuse as one of the reasons that lead to violent abuse that have even led to injuries and fatalities in worse-case scenarios.

In-laws: This is a prevalent reason used by young couples as meddling from external members and excessive hassles from external members of family.

Respect : Respect among couples is imperative as both come from different backgrounds. Having a different background often means that the couples have to come up with ways of living together and tolerating each other. Disrespect is manifested through physical and verbal attacks.

The above-mentioned reasons are just some of the most prevalent. It is also very difficult to establish the main reasons that couples may separate. We may never have a definite reason as to why the rate of divorce keeps on increasing but it may be easier to conclude on the effects divorce brings to society. This is because effects are much more profound in families, hence making it simpler to track. The family unit is facing numerous issues today as the effects of divorce are having a direct impact on the lives of children and how they will relate with others in the future. Research conducted by Lenor Weitzman confirmed that men were shown to heal faster and do well economically after separation. It was also found out that as opposed to the common belief that fathers were less interested in their families after separation, the research found out that fathers continued to be loving towards their kids and family (Wallerstein, p. 101).

Research also found out that both couples underwent intense emotional periods while seeking closure on the whole issue of separation. Depending on the number of years that they have been together, the couple may have to resolve all the underlying issues that may have led to the separations.

Causes Of Divorce Essay

Cause and Effect of Divorce In today’s society, divorce is more the norm than ever before. Forty percent of all marriages end in divorce. Divorce defined by Webster is the action or an instance of legally dissolving a marriage. Divorce itself is both a cause and effect. There are many causes of divorce. Some of the causes happen more often than others. For instance, the most common causes of divorce are poor communication, financial problems such as lack of money, lack of commitment to marriage, a dramatic change in priorities, infidelity, sexual indiscretion and the ease of getting a divorce.

These are some of the most common causes of divorce. The effects of a divorce seem insurmountable when comparing the grief it causes on both sides. Most people describe the cause and effects of a divorce. (Divorce Cause and Effect) (Causes of Divorce) The cause of increasing divorce is lack of communication. Most couples have poor communication. A marriage is on the rocks when the lines of communication fail.

A couple can’t have an effective relationship if neither one of them won’t discuss their feelings, cant’ talk about mutual or personal issues, will keep their resentments simmering under wraps, and expect your partner to guess what the whole problem is about. Communication is a very important part of a relationship. This is one of the reason’s pre-martial counseling is encouraged. (Panse) Communication can help in understanding one another. Couples have to talk the problems over with their partners, which produces the divorce.

Divorce Cause And Effect

Some couples are often quiet when they have problems with each other. Little problems can become huge problems when they are not discussed in a divorce. The more communications are used; the more divorce rates are reduced. Most people cite money is the cause of divorce. Divorce in the United States suggests more than fifty percent of divorced couples cited money problems as the cause of their divorce. I believe that money has a role in society and marriage.

The lack of money does cause misunderstanding between a married couples. The lack of money cause financial problems such as not being able to pay the bills, arguing over money and not being able to do extra activities such as going to the movies or eating out. (Divorce Cause and Effect) The past to present, people determined to live together, so they depend on each other. Some couples are unable to maintain their relationship; therefore they choose divorce, which is one of the solutions with problems between husband and wife.

Most people should think carefully before they get married. The divorce rates continue to increase nowadays. There are other causes of divorce, changing women’s roles, stress in modern living and lack of communication. The first cause of the rate of divorce to increase is women change in roles. Men have to earn money to afford the expenses of the family. Most women only do housework. Women have no money leading to depend on the husband’s money. It is difficult for most women to separate from their husband.

The equality between men and women in a role, because women can work outside to earn, while men can help with household duties such as cooking, cleaning, washing and caring for their children. The divorce rates rise. (“Cause and Effect Essay – The Causes of Divorce”) Another cause confirms the increase in divorce rate is stress in modern living. Many people have considered pressures to earn money. It seems the stress came since they were children. Most causes having an opportunity to find a job or earn a lot of money.

Some people are laid off from jobs; the stress starts in their family, which led to divorce. The rate of unemployment increase as a divorce rate can also rise. (“Cause and Effect Essay – The Causes of Divorce”) A few other causes of divorce are failed expectations or unmet needs, addictions and substance abuse, physical, sexual or emotional abuse, lack of conflict resolution skills, abandonment and different expectations about having or rearing children and about household tasks. Divorce happens because people rarely discuss their expectations in detail prior to marriage.

Because of this they are less willing to work on their marriages afterwards and would like quick solutions rather than having to resolve issues. People who come from divorced homes are more likely to get divorced than people who come from happily married households. Divorce seems less like a big deal if you have seen your parents go through with it. (Panse)Also, a recent study by the Creighton University Center for Marriage and Family suggest that time, sex and money pose the three biggest obstacles to satisfaction in the lives of newly married couples.

The study found that debt brought into marriage, the couples’ financial situation, balancing job and family, and frequency of sexual relations were of greatest concern to those ages 29 and under. This study confirms some of the causes of divorce. (Panse) (Causes of Divorce) Works Cited Causes of Divorce. 6 November 2010. 6 November 2010 Panse, Sonal. Topic Divorce

In the past, the society considered the institution of marriage with the same respect accorded to religious practices. Instances, where couples filed for divorce, were sporadic. However, times are now changing. According to the statistics presented by Harris (1), 40% of marriages in the current generation end up in divorce. Such a vast number indicates a severe problem that warrants for the divorce. In the past, a divorced man and woman found it hard to interact with other members of the society because of the shame associated with the separation. However, the vast frequencies made it appear normal for people to walk out of the marriage and begin life afresh with other partners. The high rate of divorce is due to career interference, inability to have children, adulterous partners, and alcohol and drugs addiction.

Alcohol addiction is a significant cause of divorce in the society today. People suffering from alcoholism use a substantial part of their salaries and savings in funding their habit. Therefore, families with such a parent might end up experiencing tough economic times due to misuse of funds. Thus, one partner may find it impossible to withstand the conditions and decide to get a divorce. More so, alcohol tends to make people violent. Most people who are huge consumers of liquor engage in violent behavior when drunk (Panse 2). Most of the people who suffer from such situations are women. Instead of living in fear of constant violence, such partners opt to leave the marriage and begin afresh with other partners. Therefore, addiction to alcohol may lead to misuse of funds and violent behaviors, which fuel the colossal rate of divorce in the society today.

Another major cause of divorce is infidelity. The current generation is full of people who do not respect the institution of marriage. It is a common occurrence for partners to accuse one another of infidelity while still in the institution of marriage. When one partner realizes that the other one has been having extramarital affairs, the level of trust diminishes to the point of making it impossible for the marriage to survive. Many partners engage in infidelity to the point of getting children outside the wedlock. Due to the level of betrayal experienced by the other partner, divorce becomes imminent. Trust is a very crucial part of marriage. If the partners cannot maintain their trust in each other, then the family lacks the structural stability for survival. Therefore, infidelity leads to loss of faith and the ultimate act of divorce (Alexander 1).

In some marriages, both partners are career persons. In such cases, the partners may fail to accord their spouses the time they need leading to separation. For example, when one of the partners work in the military, the other might feel neglected due to the extended periods of service outside the country. As such, the career becomes a hindrance for the marriage since it makes it hard for the partners to spend more time together. Some husbands prefer women who stay at home without any career. On the other hand, the women might opt to stick to their careers instead of staying at home. In such cases, the priorities of the couples are not the same. Therefore, they may opt to file for divorce for each partner to follow his/her goals. Careers play a massive role in creating a rift between the couples, which end up in divorce (Harris 1).

One of the fundamental purposes of marriage is having children. However, there are medical conditions that make it impossible for couples to have children. Scientifically, there are medical practices that can restore fertility for both men and women. However, some cases are beyond rectification. When one of the couples cannot get a child, the other partner might feel offended or at a loss for the condition of the other partner. Some partners opt to adopt a child instead of breaking the marriage. However, others might quit the union to find partners that can fulfill their desires in getting children. Infertility is a huge concern for many couples. Therefore, if one of the couples who are fertile cannot adopt or stay without a child, then the remaining option is divorce. That explains the growing trend in divorce and single parenthood in the society (James 2).

Divorce is a murky affair that indicates the loss of love and forces that hold a couple together. All the causes of divorce are negative reasons. For example, failure to get children is an indication that one partner views the weakness of another person as a setback to starting a family. Alcoholism and drug addiction show that one partner is irresponsible and ends up using the resources of the family negatively. Such cases show that the trust in the family is reducing to levels where the couples no longer appreciate marriage. For adultery, this is a high level of disrespect for the union. Currently, many sexually transmitted infections are hazardous. Therefore, a cheating spouse can bring many diseases to the family, which might result in catastrophic outcomes. With such reasons, it is easier to understand the high rate of divorce witnessed in the society.

The Main Causes of Divorce Essay

Introduction, relationship issues, other causes.

  • The goal of the present literature review is to examine the main causes of divorce. The topic is important for the field of psychology since marital happiness is one of the pillars of maintaining a high quality of life. I am interested in the topic due to my preoccupation with the peculiarities of modern marriage and how both centuries-old issues and new trends influence matrimonial bonds.
  • Research questions pertaining to the chosen topic embark on the internal and external factors contributing to the likelihood of divorce. Researchers seek to establish whether relationship issues are more detrimental to marriage as opposed to difficulties experienced outside the bond, be it being on bad terms with relatives or substance abuse. Methodology includes cross-sectional observational studies, and main findings point to the importance of communication in a couple.

Relationship issues were found to be the main cause of divorce; this category is broad, and the types of issues need to be specified.

Rationality

In their observational study, Aghababei, Haghighatian, and Far (2017) examined cases of divorce and outlined the most common types of divorce and factors contributing to the conflict. The study found that rationality and thoughtfulness accounted for fewer fights in the divorce process.

Communication

Amato and Previti (2003) investigated couples’ responses regarding the causes of divorce. The findings showed that growing apart was caused by the lack of meaningful communication.

Divorce prevention through solving relationship issues

A study by Gravingen et al. (2017) showed that the best way to prevent divorce was timely therapeutic and family interventions aiming to improve spouses’ communication skills.

Substance abuse such as alcoholism is detrimental to all life aspects of an individual who is affected by the condition. In case one of the partners in a married couple consumes alcohol in excess, his or her addiction affects their spouse directly which may push them to the brink of divorce.

Alcohol-induced conflicts

A descriptive study of 60 couples showed that the disputes arising when one of the partners is heavily inebriated might lead to divorce (Vasudevan, Gethi, Bhaskar, & Areekal, 2015).

Alcohol and finances

Amato and Previti (2003) emphasize the strain that excessive alcohol consumption puts on a couple’s finances which leads to fights.

When two people enter matrimony, they expect their partners to be faithful. Cheating may make the betrayed partner consider divorce.

The gravity of infidelity

Gravingen et al. (2017) found that infidelity was the second leading cause of divorce in Great Britain.

Conflicts caused by infidelity

Amato and Previti (2003) revealed that infidelity-related issues have an accumulative effect: a couple where one or both partners cheat experience growing tension.

Divorce is a complex issue, and it is challenging to categorize all the causes. Researchers deem it important to mention as many factors as possible.

Physical abuse

Amato and Previti (2003) reason that among common causes of divorce are neglect and physical abuse.

There has been a great deal of research on the nature of divorce. Some studies mentioned in the present review point that more often, it is not possible to pinpoint a single cause as the issue is more nuanced than that. The strengths of the studies mentioned are their methodology and relevance. The research reviewed in the paper was conducted recently, and the findings were based on real people’s responses and their experiences. The weaknesses might include sampling: a study by Vasudevan et al. is characterized by a small sample size which might make the results not inferential.

The question arises as to how trustworthy divorce studies are and whether there are any knowledge gaps. The validity of some studies might be suffering from the non-response error in which specific groups of people abstain from sharing information. In the future, researchers should enlarge sample sizes and randomize sampling to include respondents with diverse backgrounds. One should pay attention to the causes of divorce and conflicts that precede the decision to end a marital relationship.

Divorce in a family

Why did not they manage to create happy family?

Causes of divorce in a family issue is relatively new, but already urgent problem. It became widespread only a couple of decades ago. According to the statistics, in 1950s only 3% of families got divorced, in ‘60s it was already 10%. In 1980s due to different reasons 33% of family could not avoid divorce. Today the number of divorces is about 45%. So there is no need to explain why this essay about divorce has much importance and must be read. Besides, young generation starts to forget what value family has and why they should try to save it.

Usually young families that exist for less than a year get divorced, also 1/3 of divorces happen in families that exist for 1 – 5 years. That is why the problem of divorces is the problem of young people.

Of course, there are cases when divorce is necessary, when husband and wife do not respect each other, do not love each other and do not take into consideration the opinion of each other, so in this case a man and a woman in a family are almost enemies. So how can it be possible to avoid divorce in such a family? Is it necessary at all? Trying to save the image of a happy family, parents may hurt emotionally their children.

There are about 120 children on a hundred divorced families. And in the most of cases children stay with their mothers. Besides, more than half of women do not marry for the second time, it means that there is no male influence on a child in the process of upbringing.

And our school much feminized lately can not replace the role of the father in a family. This fact leads to bad consequences.

One of the main reasons of unhappy family life and as a consequence of divorce is the fact that future husband and wife do not each other well enough before they decide to get married. When a young man and a young woman with similar opinions and interests meet each other, we can say that they are lucky. However, in most of cases people have to learn to live together, to adapt to family life. Unfortunately, not everyone has patience, desire and knowledge to do that.

Let’s look at the example of two families. In both families husband and wife are talented people. In both families they love each other. But the first family gets divorced, and the second one does not. What did lead to the divorce in the first family? In this family the wife did not see friend in her husband, did not consider him head of the family. She treated him as an enemy and used to think that children were a trap that her husband purposely made to become more successful in the life. So when he studied his postgraduate education, the wife decided to get divorced. In the second family the married couple supported each other. The wife decided not to chase after the husband. The husband continued to get education while she took café of the family. She said she did this for the family’s sake. The husband thanks to his wife’s support became professional and perspective scientist. As a result, the whole family got the benefit, what can not be said about the first one.

In the past you could often hear such a phrase: “On the family council we decided…” Why do we hear it so seldom today? Instead we can often hear about the competition between husband and wife, that they do not want to give way to their second half. And after that they naively think that they can create happy family and get family happiness.

About 40% of women and half of men after divorce create second marriage, so it means that the reason of divorce becomes the reasons of women’s loneliness.

Women after divorce in most of cases do not give birth again. So divorces have negative impact on the demographical situation. Young people so easily decide to get divorced and have very unserious attitude to the marriage, that it seems that divorce is a new fashion trend, and this is another unusual cause of divorce. Nowadays it is so easy to divorce, especially when a couple does not have children. Such a simple way of marriage annulation leads to irresponsible attitude to marriage itself.

Fashion in the sphere of family life is very dangerous. And not everyone realizes it. People often hide their own egoism behind love. It is so easy to blame love and jealousy, wife’s or husband’s bad temper.

Most of cases of divorce due to various reasons happen in the cities-millionaires. In such cities the family social control of relatives, grandfathers and grandmothers, neighbors, etc. is less strong. And young people more often and usually without much thinking get married. Also there is much higher number of venal and fictitious marriages, which very soon come to their end. Also many young girls and boys have to get married because they wait for a child.

Very often young people say that the family is destroyed but they can not say the exact reason. And you want to ask them: “Who were you in love : creators or destroyers? Whom did you become in fact?”

Causes of divorce

Research of the most common divorce reasons among young family gave the following result:

1st place. Cause of divorce is harmful habits, in particular the problem of alcoholism in a family (in most cases husband’s alcoholism);

2nd place. Cause of divorce is adultery of one of the spouses;

3rd place. Cause of divorce is light-minded, thoughtless decision to get married;

4th place. Cause of divorce is living conditions, problems related to them and lack of money;

5th place. Cause of divorce is conflicts in a family because of the parents.

There is another reason that should be mentioned. Everyone knows such a term as marriage of convenience. And everyone understands that the ground of the marriage is not love, but certain benefit of one of the spouses. In such a family in the first years or eve months of marriage the basic rules of mutual respect and moral principles are violated. And it is logically, because what is the base of marriage (material interest instead of feelings), that is the result of marriage. Conflicts in such a family begin from the very beginning, because there is no love and respect between the couple. People often forget that it is not possible to build happy marriage basing on material interest. Such spouses divorce because they have the material aspect, but the spiritual is absent.

The consequences of divorce

What does divorce for the married couple mean? Divorce is a painful phenomenon that leaves marks on a human soul, it is always catastrophe, tragedy that affects people sometimes for years. Divorced spouses sometimes miss each other, feel anxiety, despite the fact that they were the initiators of divorce and considered their family life unhappy. Even if they manage to keep good relationships, for a child divorce is always a catastrophe, it is a tragedy for the whole life, because child can be absolutely happy only having both of parents. Besides, scientists discovered that children of divorced parents in their adulthood divorce more often than children raised in full families.

Divorce is the process that causes much harm to a child, affects the mental health. Moreover, gils raised without father often begin to hate men in general. Divorce also has negative influence on the child’s discipline and the personality development. Children often start doing what they want, they usually have problems with friends, memory and school. Since the child is between parents, he /she will always suffer more than the parents.

Most of divorced men and women become supporters of free relationships because of their previous negative family experience. They also are afraid of the repetition of the situation, that is why they do not get married again.

So, now you see how much important it is to consider all the possible negative consequences of divorce before taking such a decision. Also young people should understand the whole responsibility when they decide to get married. Anyway, I hope that the situation with divorces will improve soon and that people will be more serious about marriage and family relationships.
