Every person is willingly participating in the national discourse and looking forward to the growth of the nation. The fundamentals laid down by the constitution strengthens our country, turning it into a robust democracy. By adhering to the rules and law, we are adding meaning to our celebration of independence.

This show is the main attraction of the event and lasts for three days. It showcases India’s cultural and social heritage. Nine to Twelve different regiments of army, navy, and air force march past in all their finery and decorations.

Youth is the nation’s bright future; therefore, it is mandatory to act responsibly and preserve national heritage. By abiding by the rights and duties written in the constitution, one ensures harmony and peace in society. The spirit of brotherhood, fraternity, and support for each other should be paramount.

The famous saying that a pen is mightier than a sword is essential to fulfilling our core with non-violence and equal justice. The national holidays should not be taken for granted, but its significance needs to be promoted across states to create awareness and disseminate patriotism.

I want to conclude my speech by thanking everyone who honoured this program with their attendance. Lastly, I would like to quote Mahatma Gandhi , who rightly stated that be the change you wish to see. Long speech on Republic Day (300 words, 3 Minute speech)

Hello to all the respected guests, our principal, teachers, dear friends and parents. Today we are assembled here to celebrate our 74th Republic Day. Since the beginning of modern times, India has always been a free nation – in spirit, values, and identity, though we may have been momentarily enslaved by foreign powers. India’s constitution was adopted in 1950, but it was not until a year later when India officially declared itself a republic.

Today on Republic day, Indian citizens come together to renew their commitment to the fundamental values of democracy and justice that the government and its leaders promised to uphold. On this day, we remember and honor our first president, Dr. Rajendra Prasad. His great leadership and vision for a unified, democracy-driven India laid the foundation for the modern-day political system.

Along with Dr. Rajendra Prasad, we remember the revered Dr.Bhim Rao Ambedkar, who is widely known as the Father of the Indian Constitution. It is due to his tireless efforts and strong will that the people of India enjoy their fundamental rights. His contributions to education, human rights and social justice are undeniable.

We cannot forget Mahatma Gandhi and Jawaharlal Nehru also, who inspired and motivated the Indian people to embrace independence. On this day, we also honor Subhash Chandra Bose and countless other freedom fighters who put their lives on the line for the betterment of India. India is forever indebted for their brave sacrifices. It is also crucial to appreciate our strong and devoted armed forces, who are dedicated to protecting our nation and its sovereignty.

Indeed, one of the greatest gifts given to us by our founders was the Indian Constitution, and we as citizens have the responsibility to uphold its promises and exercise our rights to a democratic society. Let’s all be forever reminded of the history and sacrifices made by our leaders and freedom fighters, as we work to create a prosperous, progressive and equitable India. Bharat Mata Ki Jai

Long speech on Republic Day (500 words, 5 Minute speech)

Good morning everyone. It is really a moment of honor for me to address you all today on this great celebration day of India. Today, all the citizens of the nation celebrate their commitment to the vital and positive values of our nation’s democracy.

India, an ancient civilization and a modern state, has been the seat of culture for centuries. India is renowned for its rich heritage, diverse population and vibrant culture, and it is these very traits that symbolize national identity and unify us as one nation.

As we are celebrating India’s 74th republic day, let us pay our tribute to some of most important figures in the struggle for inclusive democracy in India. Mahatma Gandhi, practitioner of non-violent civil disobedience was the pioneers of social justice and self-governance. Jawaharlal Nehru, famously referred to as the “Architect of modern India” was the nation’s first Prime Minister, who worked to build a strong and secular India. He was a leader who recognized the importance of empowering the people, and was committed to the values of equality, freedom and liberty.

The Republican Constitution of India was passed on 26th January 1950, three years after India gained independence from British colonial rule on 15th August 1947. On that day, India became a sovereign, socialist, secular, democratic republic. The spirit of democracy that was instilled in Indians was facilitated by political leaders like Bhimrao Ambedkar and Maulana Abulkalam Azad who, despite immense personal and social obstacles, took brave steps to further their cause of a democratic India.

The Constitution of India established fundamental rights to all citizens and outlined them. This includes the right to equality and freedom of religion, speech, press and assembly by forming associations and cooperatives. The Indian Constitution also provides a framework for the election of representatives into the legislature and institutes a federal constitutional republic.

As we move forward, we must take the values and ideals propagated by the Indian Constitution and the leaders behind it and continue our fight for the cause of justice and equality. Republic Day is an important day and allows us to pause and reflect on the state of our nation. It serves to remind us of the challenges and struggles that India has faced and allows us to appreciate the progress we have achieved and the potential for further progress.

It also gives us a window into the power of democracy and the importance of safeguarding our freedom. This day is a call to action for each of us to take responsibility for the future of India. To the students present here today, I urge you to strive to make India the place it must be, a place where no Indian is judged by the color of their skin, but by the content of their character and the content of their actions. Let us keep the Republic Day spirit alive by working together to create a safe, inclusive, and democratic India. Now, I would like to end my speech. Thank you everyone and have a good day. Jai Hind.

Since that day, every year 26th of January is celebrated as Republic Day, throughout the country.

Republic Day is celebrated with great pomp and pageantry in India’s capital New Delhi at the historic Rajpath. The Republic Day Parade in New Delhi is a colourful highlight of the celebrations that happen in every state, district, city, and village of India. The Republic Day Parade in New Delhi starts from Rashtrapati Bhavan at Raisina Hill and winds past India Gate. The parade is done before the President of India and the Chief Guest, as well as other dignitaries including the Prime Minister and other Cabinet Ministers.

The Republic Day parade showcases the might of the three wings of the Indian Armed Forces and its achievements. The culture and heritage of India and its unity in diversity are also showcased in this glittering parade.

The Indian national flag is hoisted and the National Anthem is played, the President of India inspects a Guard of Honour. As part of the Republic Day celebrations, many national and state awards are conferred. The civilian awards like Bharat Ratna, Padma Vibhushan, etc., are distributed by the President of India on the eve of Republic Day. The beating retreat ceremony held on the 29th of January signals the conclusion of the official Republic Day celebrations of the country.

26th January 1950 is a red-letter day in Indian history. On this day, India became the Sovereign Democratic Republic. It was the day when India attained full independence, even though India became independent on 15 August 1947, it became utterly separate on 26 January 1950. Since then, 26th January is celebrated as Republic Day every year all over India. There is another reason for the Importance of the 26th January, the “India Government Act” was withdrawn and the newly constituted Constitution of India was implemented on this day. The constitution was ready on 26th November 1949, but its promulgation was deferred to coincide with 26th January 1950. On 26th January 1930, the All India Congress Committee at its Lahore Session held under the presidentship of Lt. Pt. Jawahar Lal Nehru pledged that India’s aim was “Purna Swaraj” which is complete independence from British rule. Republic Day reminds us of the sacrifices made by many brave-hearted Indians to realize their pledge of complete independence from British rule. This day is celebrated throughout the country with great enthusiasm.

The main reason for celebrating Republic Day is that on this day the constitution of our country came into effect. However, there is another history of the great day, which is quite impressive. It started in December 1929 under the presidency of Pandit Nehru at the Indian National Congress convention held in Lahore. In this, the congress announced that if India were not given Domination still until January 26, 1930, India would declare itself completely Independent, but when this day came. The British government did not respond to this issue. Then, Congress started its active movement from that day to achieve complete freedom. This is the reason that when our country was liberated, on January 26, that day the constitution of India was established.

It is one of three National Festivals, the other two are ‘Gandhi Jayanti’ and ‘Independence Day.’ Being our national festival, every school, college, office, shop, factory, and other business establishment remains closed on this day due to the celebration of Republic Day. It is treated as a National Holiday. Although Republic Day celebrations are held across the country, the major festivals are visible at Rajpath in New Delhi, with the President, the Prime Minister, and other ministers in attendance. The Republic Day march in Delhi is the most significant and imperative of the processions denoting the Republic Day festivities in India. Indian Republic Days’ fascination keeps going for three days. The motorcade exhibits India’s protection ability and social and social legacy. Preceding the beginning of the Parade, the Prime Minister lays a botanical wreath at the Amar Jawan Jyoti, a remembrance of the fallen fighter at the India Gate towards one side of Rajpath, which is trailed by two minutes of silence in the memory of the fallen warriors. The sacrifice of martyrs who lived for their country is remembered on this day. From that point, the Prime Minister arrives at the central dais at Rajpath to join different dignitaries. Subsequently, the president, along with the chief guests, duly escorted by the President’s bodyguard on horseback, arrives to join others at Rajpath. The National Flag is unfurled by the president, after which the National Anthem is played along with a 21-gun salute. Next, essential honours like the Ashok Chakra and Kirti Chakra are given away by the President before the regiments of Armed Forces begin their walk past. The President presents awards of bravery to the members of the armed forces for their extraordinary mettle in the field and the civilians, who have farmed themselves by their distinctive demonstrations of courage in various circumstances. Youngsters who get the National Bravery Award are observed riding on vividly or specially designed elephants or vehicles.

For the event, the best NCC cadets are chosen from all over the country along with school students from different schools in the capital. Each Presentation shows the variety and wealth of the way of life in India. Around 1200 schoolchildren present dances and other cultural activities as a feature of the parade. Next comes the Motorcade which shows bike units of the Armed Forces and civil security services along with a flypast by the Indian Air Force planes and helicopters carrying the national banner and the banners of the armed forces.

All the states of India additionally show specific Jhanki identities with their way of life, customs, and advancement after freedom, demonstrating the presence of ‘Solidarity in Diversity in India.’ Cultural moves are displayed by individuals along with singing and dancing. Towards the end of the occasion, a tri-shading (saffron, white, and green) bloomers in the sky from planes, creating the image of the National Flag.

Republic Day is one of the three national festivals of our country, and it is the day that reminds us of the importance of our freedom. It is a Gazetted Public Holiday in India, and people all over India celebrate Republic Day with a great spirit of patriotism and joy.

In India, Republic Day is celebrated every year on January 26 to commemorate the day our Constitution took effect. When India gained independence in 1947, it did not have a permanent written constitution, and its laws were based on an updated version of the British-established Government of India Act 1935. The Drafting Committee for an Indian Constitution was formed by Dr B.R. Ambedkar after a fortnight on August 29, 1947. A celebration of Indian Independence Day is observed on the 26th of January in remembrance of the historic Declaration of Indian Independence (Purna Swaraj) made by the Indian National Congress in 1929.

The 4-day ceremony begins on the morning of 26 th  January with a wreath-laying at India Gate by the Prime Minister of India in honour of those who sacrificed their lives protecting the nation. The Republic Day Celebrations are concluded at Vijay Chowk on 29 th  January with a beating retreat led by the President of India. On the first day of Republic Day festivities, the National Flag is unfurled at 8 a.m. The National Flag was designed by freedom fighter Pingali Venkayya, who hailed from Machilipatnam in Andhra Pradesh. Having undergone numerous revisions, the current state of the national flag was adopted on 22nd July 1947.

Rashtrapati Bhavan is the starting point and India Gate is the ending point. Vijay Chowk is at the beginning of the route, which begins at Amar Jawan Jyoti, continues along Rajpath, passes India Gate, and ends at India Gate.

This day holds immense significance in the hearts of every Indian as it symbolises the triumph of justice, liberty, equality, and fraternity over the shackles of colonial rule.

The history of Republic Day goes back to India's struggle against British colonial rule. The call for self-governance gained momentum in the early 20th century, and as the country embarked on its journey towards independence, leaders like Mahatma Gandhi, Jawaharlal Nehru, and Sardar Patel played pivotal roles in shaping the destiny of a newly emerging nation. The Indian National Congress, founded in 1885, became a key player in the fight for freedom, advocating for constitutional reforms and self-rule.

The demand for a constituent assembly to draft a constitution for independent India gained traction. The constituent assembly, representing the diversity of the country, was formed in 1946, and under the chairmanship of Dr. B.R. Ambedkar , it worked tirelessly to craft a document that would embody the ideals of justice, liberty, equality, and fraternity. After two and a half years of deliberation, the Constitution of India was adopted on January 26, 1950, replacing the Government of India Act (1935) .

The festivities kick off with the grand ceremonial unfurling of the national flag by the President Of India at the historic Red Fort in Delhi. The essence of this celebration lies in embracing and celebrating the rich diversity that defines India.

It is a tribute to the visionaries who meticulously drafted the Constitution, envisioning a society where every citizen is equal and has the right to justice and liberty. As we witness the tricolour unfurling against the azure sky, it serves as a visual representation of our collective journey toward freedom and self-governance.

Beyond the elaborate parades and cultural displays, Republic Day prompts introspection. It calls upon each citizen to reflect on their responsibilities towards the nation. Upholding the principles enshrined in the Constitution is not just a duty but a commitment to building a society that values inclusivity and justice. The preamble of the Constitution encapsulates the aspirations of a nation striving for a secure, just, and sovereign existence.

Republic Day is a celebration of unity in diversity. The parade, with its myriad colours and cultural representations, emphasises that the strength of our nation lies in our ability to embrace differences and stand united. Each state's unique contribution adds to the vibrant mosaic of India, reminding us that despite our diverse backgrounds, we are bound by a shared identity.

India is a wonderful illustration of “Unity in Diversity.” The uniqueness of our nation is that despite our varied linguistic heritage, wars, and divisions, on national holidays we all come together as one.

Republic Day Speech in Hindi

As Hindi is the most widely spoken language in India, we have provided the Republic Day Speech in Hindi below for the convenience of Hindi board students.

Vande Mataram, Bharat Mata Ki Jai

My greetings to the respected Principal, Madam /Sir and all my colleagues.

My name is ….. I study in class ….. As we all know, today we all have are present here for the Republic Day on a very special occasion of our country. Today, India is celebrating its 72nd Republic Day.

I am very excited to say something about our country on this big occasion of Republic Day. Today all of us have come here to celebrate the 71st Republic Day of our nation. India gained independence from 15 August 1947, which is celebrated as Independence Day.

The Constitution of India was passed on 24 November 1947 in the Constituent Assembly of India. But the Constitution of India came into force on 26 January 1950, so we celebrate 26 January every year as the Republic Day of India. And celebrate November 24 as Constitution Day.

Republic means the supreme power of the people living in the country and only the public has the right to elect their representatives as a political leader to move the country in the right direction. Therefore, India is a republic country.

Where we choose our leaders as President, Prime Minister, etc. Our great Indian freedom fighters have struggled a lot to regain our independence. They have struggled so that their future generations can live without struggle and move the country forward.

How to celebrate Republic Day?

Every year the President of India, Rajpath, hoists our national flag tricolor. He is the chief guest for hoisting the Indian flag. Along with him, even big leaders from other countries are on the stage. Then we all stand to salute our national flag and sing our national anthem, written by a great poet Rabindranath Tagore.

Wreaths to the martyrs

The trio of India takes part in the parade to showcase India’s culture and tradition. On this occasion, we also invite the chief guest of another country. This is the Amar Jawan Jyoti, the President of India, the Prime Minister and the Commander in Chief of the Indian Armed Forces, laying wreaths on the sacrificed Indian soldiers at India Gate.

What is the history of India?

The names of our great freedom fighters and Indian leaders are Mahatma Gandhi, Bhagat Singh, Chandra Shekhar Azad, Lala Lajpat Rai, Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, Lal Bahadur Shastri etc. He fought against British rule to get independence for India.

One can never forget his sacrifice for the country. On these great occasions, we always remember them and salute them. We got this freedom because of them. Now we can live independently in our nation.

The first President of India was Dr. Rajendra Prasad who said that it is very sad that we have got independence but we are still fighting caste, crime, corruption and violence. We have to move towards a better India.

Thank you…

Jai Hind, Bharat Mata ki Jai …

Today, as we gather to celebrate the 75th Republic Day of our great nation, I am filled with a deep sense of pride and patriotism. On this day, back in 1950, India adopted its Constitution, embarking on a remarkable journey as a sovereign, democratic republic.

The Constitution of India, the longest written constitution in the world, is not just a document but the soul of our nation. It embodies the hopes and aspirations of billions of Indians and serves as a guiding light for our democratic values and principles.

  • Constitution of India

Drafted by the Constituent Assembly with Dr. B.R. Ambedkar as the Chairman of the Drafting Committee, it laid down the framework defining fundamental political principles, established the structure, procedures, powers, and duties of government institutions, and set out fundamental rights, directive principles, and the duties of citizens.

As we celebrate this day, let us also acknowledge the progress India has made over the years. From a nascent nation struggling with the challenges of post-colonial development, India has emerged as a global player in various fields. Our advancements in technology, medicine, science, and space exploration have put us on the world map. Our economy, one of the fastest-growing in the world, continues to show resilience and potential.

Looking ahead, the youth of our nation hold the key to our future. With one of the largest young populations in the world, India’s hope lies in empowering these young minds with education, opportunities, and the right values. We must strive to build an India where every child has access to quality education, every citizen has the opportunity to thrive, and where inclusivity, sustainability, and innovation are the cornerstones of our development.

Republic Day 2024 Speech in English: 10 Lines, Short and Long Speech

The annual celebration of Republic Day, which falls on January 26th, is a major celebration in India. It marks the day when our nation adopted its Constitution, a significant milestone in our history.

The journey towards the adoption of the Constitution began soon after India gained independence on August 15, 1947. A committee was established, and on August 29, 1947, a Constituent Assembly was convened with the task of writing a new Constitution for the country. B.R. Ambedkar was appointed as the leader of this group, and over the course of two years, 11 months, and 18 days, the Constitution was drafted.

On January 26, 1950, the Constitution was officially proclaimed. This day holds a special significance as it is also the day when the proclamation of Poorna Swaraj was made in 1930 and Jawaharlal Nehru was elected as the leader of the Indian National Congress.

While Independence Day is celebrated on August 15, the Indian National Congress had already celebrated it on the same day in 1930, before India officially gained independence in 1947. Therefore, August 15th is observed as Independence Day, and January 26th is celebrated as Republic Day.

During Republic Day celebrations, patriotism and love for our nation are at the forefront. The main celebration takes place in the capital, New Delhi, with a grand parade and the President of India hoisting the national flag and giving a speech. People across the country participate in cultural programs and patriotic events to celebrate this day.

As we celebrate the 73rd Republic Day of our great nation, let us remember the sacrifices of our freedom fighters, the contributions of the Constitution-makers, and pledge to uphold the values and principles of our Constitution.

Republic Day, celebrated annually on January 26th, is a day of great national pride and celebration in India. It marks the day when our nation officially adopted a democratic republic government and declared its independence. On January 26, 1950, India became an independent, secular, socialist, and democratic republic, almost three years after gaining independence from British rule.

The origins of Republic Day can be traced back to August 15, 1947, when India gained independence from British rule. However, at that time, the nation did not have a formal constitution in place to govern the country properly. To address this, a constitutional drafting committee was established on August 28, 1947, with B.R. Ambedkar as its head. The committee, after 166 days of extensive deliberation, presented its final proposal to the Constituent Assembly on November 4, 1947.

One of the main objectives of the drafting committee was to ensure universal protections for all citizens, regardless of their faith, culture, caste, sex, or creed. The Constitution, which was finally adopted on January 26th, 1950, struck a delicate balance between the various interests and aspirations of the people.

On this day, Rajendra Prasad was inaugurated as India's first President, and the first session of the Indian Parliament was held. Republic Day not only marks the end of British rule but also the establishment of the Indian Republic.

Celebrations

The celebrations on Republic Day are a true reflection of the unity and diversity of our nation. The main event takes place in the capital city of New Delhi, with a grand parade showcasing the military might of the country and the richness of our cultural heritage. The President of India hoists the national flag, and the military responds with a 21-gun salute and a performance of the national anthem.

Many schools across the country also participate in these celebrations by organizing marches and cultural programs, which serve as a source of inspiration and pride for the citizens. It's a day when people put aside their differences and come together to celebrate the spirit of unity and nationalism. The participation of both young and adults in these celebrations, from the colourful parades to the patriotic performances, is truly inspiring and makes one feel proud to be a citizen of this great nation. On this Republic Day, let us pledge to uphold the values and principles of our Constitution, and work towards building a stronger and more inclusive nation for all.

Long and Short Speech on Republic Day in English

Here we are providing speeches for the students on 75th Republic Day. Students can participate actively in the Republic Day celebration using any given speech. All the speeches for the students are written in very easy and simple language so that they can present their best speech on  Republic Day

R espected Principal, teachers, and my dear friends,

First of all, I would like to thank you for giving me such a great opportunity to speak on Republic Day.

Today, we all have gathered here to celebrate the 76th Republic Day of our nation. This is a great and auspicious occasion for all of us. We should congratulate each other and pray to God for the development and prosperity of our nation.

We celebrate Republic Day in India on 26th January every year because the Constitution of India came into force on this day. We have been celebrating Republic Day of India continuously since 1950 because the Constitution of India came into force on 26 January 1950.

Republic means the supreme power of the people living in the country and only the people have the right to choose their representatives as political leaders to lead the country in the right direction. Therefore, India is a republic country where the people choose their leader as the Prime Minister.

Our great Indian freedom fighters fought a lot for “Purna Swaraj” in India. He sacrificed his life so that his future generation does not have to struggle and they take the country forward.

India is a democratic country where the people are empowered to choose their leader to lead the country. Dr. Rajendra Prasad was the first President of India. Ever since we got independence from British rule in 1947, our country has developed a lot and is counted among the most powerful countries.

With the development, some shortcomings have also arisen like inequality, poverty, unemployment, corruption, illiteracy, etc. To make our country the best country in the world, we need to take a pledge today to solve such problems in society.

Now, I am going to end my speech with these words, thank you So Much.

Jay Hind Jay Bharat

Republic Day specch 2025

26 January 2024 republic day speech in English

G ood morning to all my respected teachers, guardians, and dear friends.

India is a self-governing country since 15 August 1947. India got independence from British rule on 15th August in 1947, which we celebrate as Independence Day. However, since 1950 on 26 January we celebrate Republic Day.

The Constitution of India came into force on 26 January 1950, so we celebrate this day as Republic Day every year. In this year 2024, we are celebrating the 75th Republic Day of India.

India is a democratic country, which has no king or queen to rule here, although the people here are the rulers here. Every citizen living in this country has equal rights, no one can become Chief Minister or Prime Minister without our vote. We have the right to choose our best prime minister or any other leader to lead the country in the right direction.

Our leader should have enough skill to think in favor of his country. He should think equally about all the states, villages, and cities of the country so that India can become a well-developed country without any discrimination of race, religion, poor, rich, upper class, middle class, lower class, illiteracy, etc.

The great leaders and freedom fighters of our country are Mahatma Gandhi, Bhagat Singh, Chandrashekhar Azad, Lala Lajpat Rai, Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, Lal Bahadur Shastri, etc. To make India a free country, these people fought continuously against the British, so we can never forget their dedication to our country.

We should salute them on such great occasions by remembering them. It is only because of these people that we can think with our minds and live freely in our nation without any pressure.

Our first Indian President was Dr. Rajendra Prasad who said that “Under the jurisdiction of one Constitution and one Union, we have got together the entire part of this vast land which is the population of more than 320 crore men and women living here- Takes responsibility for welfare” .

What a shame it is to say that we are still fighting crime, corruption, and violence in our country. Again, everyone needs to be together to save the country from such slavery as it is holding back our country from going into its mainstream of development and progress.

We should go ahead and be aware of our social issues like poverty, unemployment, illiteracy, global warming, inequality, etc. to solve them.

Dr. Abdul Kalam has said that “If a country becomes corruption-free and becomes a nation of a beautiful mind, I strongly feel that there are three prime members who can make a difference. He is father, mother, and a guru”. As a citizen of India, we should think about it seriously and make all possible efforts to take forward our country.

Now I am going to conclude my speech, thank you all for being here and making this program a success.

Jai Hind /Jai Bharat

Speech on Republic Day

Republic Day Speech in English for students

As we all know that we all have gathered here on the very special occasion of our nation which is called Republic Day.

I want to deliver a speech on Republic Day in front of all of you. First of all, I would like to thank my class teacher because of whom I got a golden opportunity to say something about my beloved country on this great occasion of Republic Day on this platform of my school.

Today we all are celebrating the 75th Republic Day of our nation. After two and a half years of India’s independence in 1947, it started celebrating from the year 1950. We celebrate it every year on 26th January because on this day the Constitution of India came into existence.

Our country became independent on 15th August 1947 after a long war of independence and lakhs of sacrifices. But still, this freedom was incomplete because at that time our country was divided into many pieces, which was the biggest challenge of the country to unite.

Because our country did not have any written constitution of its own. No development is possible without discipline, be it a person or a country. Keeping this in mind, the Constituent Assembly was formed, which had 299 members.

It was presided over by Dr. Rajendra Prasad. Its first meeting was held in December 1946. And in 2 years 11 months 18 days it was finally completed on 26 November 1949. It was implemented across the country on 26 January 1950.

There is also a historical story behind this, as this day was not chosen for Republic Day. There is a big reason behind this. It was on this day, 26 January 1930, in the Lahore session of the Congress that declared Poorna Swaraj on the banks of the Ravi river.

As Indian citizens, we are also fully responsible for our country. We should make ourselves regular, read the news and be aware of the happenings in the country, what is happening right and wrong, what our leaders are doing, and first of all what we are doing for our country.

Earlier, India was a slave country under British rule which got freedom after many years of struggle through the sacrifices of thousands of our freedom fighters. Therefore, we should not easily let go of all our precious sacrifices and again let it become a slave to corruption, illiteracy, inequality, and other social discrimination.

Today is the best day when we should pledge to preserve the real meaning, status, prestige of our country, and most importantly the culture of humanity.

The great heroes of our country have fulfilled their responsibility by giving us freedom and making a constitution. In a democracy, there is a system of the people, the people are the people. Therefore, it becomes our fundamental duty to protect and respect the system and constitution of our country.

Addressing you today on this auspicious occasion, I end my speech by paying my respects and tributes to those great revolutionaries.

Many thanks to all of you…

Bharat Mata ki Jay… Jay Hind

I hope guys, you like this Republic Day speech please share it with your students.

Middle East latest: 'Situation still unfolding' after more than '99% of drones and missiles' fired by Iran on Israel were intercepted, IDF says

Israeli military spokesman Rear Admiral Daniel Hagari said aircraft are still patrolling the skies. Meanwhile, President Joe Biden said the US military helped Israel "take down nearly all of the drones and missiles" fired by Iran.

US secretary of state Antony Blinken says he will be "consulting with allies and partners in the region and around the world in the hours and days ahead".

He said the US does not seek escalation but "will continue to support Israel's defence" and "defend US personnel".

"The United States condemns Iran's attack on Israel in the strongest terms," Mr Blinken said.

Jordan and Iraq have reopened their airspace, having closed it  last night.

State TV in Jordan said the country had resumed air traffic operations, citing aviation authorities.

The opening of its airspace came more than three hours earlier than scheduled, and follows Israel doing the same.

Iraq's aviation authority said security risks had now been overcome.

Jordan, which lies between Iran and Israel, had readied air defences to intercept any drone or missile that violated its territory, two regional security sources said.

The dangerous part of the tit-for-tat taking place between Iran and Israel is miscalculation setting "the whole region on fire", says a former Middle East adviser at the US department of defence.

Jasmine El-Gamal said Iran's attack was meant as a warning to Israel of its capabilities rather than an attempt at escalation.

Indeed, messages were passed back and forth between Iran and the US via intermediaries reiterating that neither wanted to see all out war, she said.

And in his phone call with Benjamin Netanyahu, Joe Biden's message was "this is a win, take the win, do not escalate", and the US will not support a counterattack, said Ms El-Gamal.

"Iran had to retaliate for the attack against its consulate in Syria otherwise it would completely lose face," she said.

"The dangerous part is here is not just these planned moves but the risk of a miscalculation that could set the whole region on fire."

She added: "Yesterday was quite frankly incredibly worrying for everybody."

In a post on X a little earlier this morning, Benjamin Netanyahu issued his first, short statement since the attack.

"We intercepted. We blocked. Together, we will win," he said, after the country intercepted 99% of hundreds of drones launched by Iran overnight.

More than 300 projectiles were launched overall, including 30 cruise missiles and 120 ballistic missiles.

Our Middle East coverage has continued through the night, after Iran launched drones and missiles into Israel.

The IDF said 300 were fired, 99% of which were intercepted.

Among the launches were 30 cruise missiles and 120 ballistic missiles.

It came after an airstrike on the Iranian consulate in Syria which Iran blamed on Israel.

Israel has not yet confirmed whether it will retaliate. The IRGC said any threat from the US or Israel will be met with a "reciprocal response".

If you're just joining us, here is a recap of the key moments:

  • No fatalities were reported but a 10-year-old girl was injured by shrapnel, said the IDF;
  • It added a "small number" of targets were hit, including an IDF base in southern Israel, which suffered minor damage;
  • Joe Biden condemned the attacks in the "strongest possible terms";
  • US, UK and Jordanian jets were involved in defending Israel, according to sources;
  • Israel has requested that the United Nations Security Council holds an emergency meeting;
  • G7 leaders are set to meet later today in order to coordinate a "united diplomatic" response.

Away from Iran, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has said Hamas has rejected the latest proposal for a deal to return Israeli hostages.

A statement from the prime minister's office said that Israel will continue to pursue its objectives in Gaza "with full force".

It said the rejection of the proposals showed that Yahya Sinwar, the leader of Hamas in Gaza, did not want a deal and was trying to exploit tensions with Iran and bring about a regional escalation of the conflict.

The Israeli airspace has now reopened after it was shut due to Iran's attack on Israel.

The Israeli Airport Authority said it was open as of 4.30am GMT.

It said that passengers should check flight times before travelling.

A number of airlines, including United Airlines and Israel El Al cancelled flights to Tel Aviv yesterday due to the restrictions on the airspace.

Real-time aircraft flight tracking information from Flightradar around the time of the Iranian attack showed planes avoiding countries surrounding Israel.

Israeli military spokesman Rear Admiral Daniel Hagari has just given an update after the attack on Israel by Iran.

He said more than 300 drones and missiles were fired by Iran overnight, 99% of which were intercepted.

Mr Hagari said 30 cruise missiles were launched, none of which went into Israel, as well as 120 ballistic missiles.

He said some of the ballistic missiles hit the Nevatim Air Base but its "capabilities were not blunted".

No fatalities were reported but a 10-year-old girl was injured by shrapnel, Mr Hagari said.

He continued to say that the situation is still unfolding and aircraft are patrolling the skies.

"Iran pushed the Middle East towards escalation. We will do whatever is necessary," Mr Hagari said.

He confirmed that UK, French and US military aircraft "took action in aid of Israel" to help shoot down projectiles.

Drones and missiles didn't just come from Iran, Mr Hagari added, but also Iraq and Yemen.

He said in recent hours "dozens of rockets" were launched from Lebanon into northern Israel, and in response the IDF struck a number of military structures in Lebanon.

By Mark Stone , US correspondent

"What next?" It's a question anxiously asked too many times in the past six months.

And no doubt the question formed the crux of the late-night call between President Biden and Prime Minister Netanyahu.

Iran's spectacular drone and missile assault on Israel is truly unprecedented.

A region already reeling from the Hamas attacks and the Israeli retaliation on Gaza is being rocked again.

American leadership and leverage, tested repeatedly, is undergoing a bigger strain still.

This time though the consequence of President Biden's test is all-out war, or not, in the Middle East. It is the scenario most feared since 7 October.

Without question, this moment - right now - is the most dangerous yet, by a long way.

Just six months ago, days before 7 October, President Biden's National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan wrote "the region is quieter than it has been for decades…. We have de-escalated crises in Gaza & restored direct diplomacy".

He was spectacularly misguided.

The US defence secretary has said America does not seek conflict with Iran but will not hesitate to protect its forces and support the defences of Israel.

In a statement this morning, Lloyd Austin said he calls on Iran to de-escalate the situation and halt any further possible attacks.

It comes after President Joe Biden told Israel's Benjamin Netanyahu that the US's "ironclad commitment" to the security of the country remains.

He added that US military aircraft and ballistic missile defence destroyers helped to "take down nearly all of the incoming drones and missiles" launched by Iran yesterday evening.

Mr Biden also told Mr Netanyahu that the US will oppose any counterattack by Israel against Iran, according to American news website Axios, citing a senior White House official.
