Kishen Das' next to be a horror film titled Sync

Actor Kishen Das will next star in Sync ,  the upcoming film directed by debutant Vikas Anand Sridharan.  Sync is billed as a horror film. Apart from Kishen Das, the film also stars Monica Chinnakotla, as the female lead, Soundarya Nandakumar and Naveena George Thomas. Speaking to Cinema Express , filmmaker Vikas says, "It is an unconventional horror film. Four friends go on a road trip, and when they return, they get caught in a hit-and-run case. While Kishen's character manages the situation and all of them get back home, the subsequent events take a turn when they get on a video group call, later in the night. The entire story unfolds in that one night."

The film's technical crew includes cinematographer PK Shivram, music composer Abhijith Ramaswami and editor R Manu Kathiresan. Vikas notes that they named the film Sync , as it is the interface the characters use in the story for the group video call. That apart, he states that Sync is done on a micro-scale budget. "It's an independent film. My friends and I pooled some money for this project. We managed to bring out the best with a shoestring budget. We completed the entire shooting in just 15 days, including the patch works. The post-production work took some time as CG shots had to look so natural. Since a major portion of this film involves scenes based on video calling, it was a huge challenge to shoot them perfectly. For such scenes, the actors held the camera themselves and shot it.” Vikas adds that Sync is gearing up for a theatrical release soon.

10 வருடங்களுக்கு முன் வீட்டை விட்டு ஓடிச்சென்று காதல் திருமணம் செய்து கொண்ட தங்கை தமன்னா தற்கொலை செய்து கொண்டதாக அண்ணன் சுந்தர்.சி.க்கு தகவல் கிடைக்கிறது. தங்கையின் கணவர் சந்தோஷ் பிரதாப்பும் நெஞ்சுவலியால் உயிரிழந்ததாக கூறப்படுகிறது. இதையடுத்து, தங்கையின் வீட்டிற்கு செல்லும் அண்ணன் சுந்தர்.சி தனது தங்கையும், அவரது கணவரும் எப்படி இறந்தனர்? தனது தங்கை தங்கியிருந்த வீட்டில் நடக்கும் அமானுஷ்யங்களின் பின்னணி என்ன? தனது தங்கை மகளை கொல்லத் துடிக்கும் பேய் யார்? அந்த பேயிடம் இருந்து தனது தங்கை மகளை காப்பாற்றினாரா? என்பதே படத்தின் கதை.

நகைச்சுவை கை கொடுத்ததா?

ஏற்கனவே வந்த அரண்மனை படங்களின் கதைகளை போலவே கதை இருந்தாலும், இந்த முறை வழக்கமான அரண்மனை படங்களில் இருக்கும் கவர்ச்சி, குத்து டான்ஸ், காதல் போன்றவற்றை சுந்தர்.சி தவிர்த்திருப்பதை பாராட்டலாம். கதையே வழக்கமான கதை  என்பதால், வழக்கமான இந்த காட்சிகளும் இருந்தால் படத்தின் வேகத்திற்கு முட்டுக்கட்டையாக இருக்கும் என்பதே சுந்தர்.சி.யின் இந்த முடிவிற்கு காரணமாக அமைந்திருக்கும்.

சுந்தர்.சி படங்கள் என்றாலே நகைச்சுவைக்கு பஞ்சம் இருக்காது. இந்த படத்திலும் யோகி பாபு, வி.டி.வி. கணேஷ், கோவை சரளா, மொட்டை ராஜேந்திரன், டெல்லி கணேஷ், லொள்ளு சபா சேசு என்று பெரிய பட்டாளமே உள்ளது. ஆனால், பிரதான காட்சிகள் யோகி பாபுவிற்கும், வி.டி.வி. கணேஷ், கோவை சரளாவிற்கே உள்ளது. இவ்வளவு பெரிய நட்சத்திர நகைச்சுவை பட்டாளங்கள் இருந்தும் 100 சதவீத சிரிப்புக்கு கியாரண்டி தர இயலவில்லை.

ஆனால், அதேசமயம் லொள்ளு சபா சேசு தான் வரும் இடங்களில் எல்லாம் நம்மை சிரிக்க வைத்துவிடுகிறார். கோவை சரளாவுடனான காதல் காட்சிகளில் வரும் வசனங்கள் அனைவரையும் கைதட்டி ரசிக்க வைக்கிறது. படத்தின் இறுதிக்காட்சிக்கு முன் வரும் சேசு, யோகி பாபு, கோவை சரளா மற்றும் விடிவி கணேஷ் நகைச்சுவை கண்டிப்பாக நம்மை சிரிக்க வைக்கும். அதுவும் அந்த அவெஞ்சர்ஸ் தீம் மியூசிக் பாராட்ட வேண்டிய விஷயம்.

இதற்கு முன்பு வந்த அரண்மனை படங்களில் அரண்மனையே பிரதானமாக இருந்த நிலையில், இந்த படத்தில் அரண்மனை என்ற உணர்வே தராத அளவிற்கு இயல்பாகவே அந்த வீடு காட்டப்பட்டிருக்கும். அதேபோல, படத்திற்கு பெரிய பலமாக இருப்பது அந்த அடர்ந்த காடும், இருட்டும். குறிப்பாக, இடைவேளைக்கு முன்பு வரும் 20 நிமிடங்கள் மிகுந்த விறுவிறுப்பான காட்சியாக அமைகிறது. கே.ஜி.எப். வில்லன் கருடா கதாபாத்திரத்தில் நடித்த ராமச்சந்திர ராஜூ சாமியார் கதாபாத்திரத்தில் மிரட்டலான நடிப்பை வெளிப்படுத்தியுள்ளார். 

தமன்னா, ராஷி கண்ணா நடிப்பு எப்படி?

அதேபோல, இதுவரை தமன்னா நடித்த படங்களில் பெரும்பாலும் கவர்ச்சி நாயகியாகவே, கதாநாயகனை காதலிக்கும் பெண்ணாகவே உலா வந்தவருக்கு இந்த படத்தில் நல்ல அருமையான தாய் வேடம் வழங்கப்பட்டுள்ளது. குறிப்பாக, குழந்தைகளை காப்பாற்ற அவர் குழந்தைகளுடன் விளையாடிக் கொண்டே போராடுவது படம் பார்ப்பவர்களை படத்துடன் ஒன்றவைத்தது. தமன்னாதான் படத்தின் பலம் என்பதற்கு அந்த காட்சி உதாரணமாக அமைகிறது. ராஷி கண்ணாவிற்கு படத்தில் பெரிய வேலை இல்லை.

இறுதிக்காட்சியில் வழக்கமான சினிமா பாணியில் சுந்தர் சி தனது மனைவி குஷ்புவையும், சிம்ரனையும் ஆட வைத்திருக்கிறார். கிளைமேக்ஸ் காட்சி பாளையத்தம்மன், அம்மன் போன்ற சாமி படத்தை நமக்கு ஒரு நிமிடம் நினைவூட்டுகிறது. இதற்கு முன்பு வந்த அரண்மனை படங்களில் பின்பற்றிய சில கவர்ச்சி, காதல், பிளாஷ்பேக் போன்ற விஷயங்களை இந்த படத்தில் சுந்தர்.சி தவிர்த்திருப்பது படத்திற்கு பலமாக அமைந்துள்ளது. படத்தில் வரும் குழந்தைகளின் நடிப்பு அபாரம். ஆனால், பெரியளவில் படத்தை பார்த்து ரசிகர்களுக்கு பயம் எல்லாம் ஏற்படவில்லை என்பதே உண்மை. 

கோடை விடுமுறைக்கு போகலாமா?

இந்த கோடை விடுமுறைக்கு குடும்பத்துடன் சென்று அரண்மனை 4 பார்க்கலாம். குஷ்பு சுந்தர், ஏ.சி.எஸ். அருண்குமார் இணைந்து தயாரித்துள்ள இந்த படத்திற்கு ஹிப்ஹாப் தமிழா இசையமைத்துள்ளார். படத்திற்கு மிகப்பெரிய பலமே ஒளிப்பதிவாளர் கிருஷ்ணசாமி. அந்த காடுகள், இருளில் நடக்கும் காட்சிகளை அற்புதமாக படமாக்கியுள்ளார். எடிட்டர் பென்னி ஆலிவர் எடிட்டிங்கும் சிறப்பாக அமைந்துள்ளது.

RATSASAN MOVIE REVIEW CLICK TO RATE THE MOVIE

Mundasupatti is one of the most important films in Vishnu Vishal's career and it also marked the debut of director Ramkumar. The duo comes together yet again for Ratsasan, a crime thriller. The promotional teasers and trailers have been very impressive, setting up good expectations for the film. Has the film lived up to those expectations? Here is our take!

Circumstances force Arun (Vishnu Vishal), an aspiring film director, to take up the job of a Sub Inspector, after his father passes away. His uncle (Munishkanth Ramadoss) helps him get the police job. While Arun faces issues in adjusting to the lifestyle of a police officer, a series of mysterious murders happen in the city, that too of innocent school going girls. Vishnu Vishal comes into the scene and with the resources he has, he sets out to search for the killer. Why is the psycho killer targeting only school girls and whether Arun find the psychopath, forms the rest of the plot.

After seeing a light hearted comedy entertainer in the form of Mundasupatti, this is a major genre shift for director Ramkumar and the young man has done it in style. Ratsasan is honest to its genre and does complete justice with no mishaps. The film's biggest strength lies in its screenplay that is engaging for most part, especially with a neckspeed second half. That being said, the latter half of the film has many edge of the seat and nail biting moments, giving an intense experience to the viewer. The comfortable staging of scenes, constructively add to the thrill. The twists in the last thirty minutes definitely make the game look much better. Ramkumar’s writing is to the point and even miniscule detailings are explored and showcased neatly. The director has not taken the audience for granted and his smartness is seen when Vishnu tackles the emotions of the killer.

A scene where Sanjana, a school girl tries to escape from the psycho killer is top class, sending chills down the spine for the audience, who'd want the girl to sneak out. Kudos to the entire team for executing that sequence with conviction. We do not get to see many scenes with that intensity, often in Kollywood.

On the downside, a tinge of predictability is seen through the first half, that brings down the excitement a little. Also, at places, it looks as if things get convenient for Arun to track down the psychopath, as he doesn't face any major hiccups or problems. More tense situations in the first half could have made the screenplay seem edgier. In a very interestingly woven screenplay of this style, unfortunately, the climax seemed a little normal.

Performances are natural in this psycho crime thriller. Vishnu Vishal gives his heart and soul for Ratsasan and his genuine approach towards the character is seen. Never ever does Vishnu go overboard to showcase the mass of a hero, rather he stays true to his characterisation. His good selection of scripts continue to make an impact. Amala Paul has a subtle role to play and the talented actress does a fine job of it. However, she is subjected to limited usage. Munishkanth Ramadoss garners attention more as a performer than a comedian and he gets some good emotional scenes to showcase his talent. Both the antagonists who play the characters, ‘Maria Fernandes’, and ‘Christopher’ show a great sense of evilness spicing up the tension. The flashback story is convincingly pulled off to an extent.

Ghibran’s background score uplifts the film to a whole new level. The antagonist’s theme is eerie, serving the purpose. He is one of the strongest reasons for Ratsasan to have come out as an intriguing crime thriller. The sound design is top notch and even very little sounds add to the creepiness. PV Shankar’s visuals and San Lokesh’s editing go hand in hand with good sync. The dark and night sequences are well lit and shot by the cinematography team. The art direction department gets noticed for the work that has gone into constructing the killer’s house.

All things considered, Ratsasan has a power packed screenplay that keeps the game interesting until the very end, guaranteeing a very good movie watching experience to the audience.

From Ponniyin Selvan 1 to Vikram: Here’s the list of best Tamil films of 2022

The best films of tamil cinema in 2022 are also its biggest hits. vikram, ponniyin selvan 1, and vendhu thaninthathu kaadu overshadowed the year when audience decided to back good content..

More than 200 films were released in Tamil cinema in 2022. To come up with the list of the best among this exhaustive number of films is rather easy — most of the big hits of the year are also among the most outstanding films made this year. It’s always a good sign when the audience backs good cinema. Of course, they did miss some of the gems like Kadaisi Vivaysayi, which deserved more footfalls in the theatre. However, this list tries to capture the best of Kollywood irrespective of the money they raked in.

Iravin Nizhal:  Director-actor Parthiban has finally gotten his due this year with the well-deserved reception for this film, which was entirely made in one single shot. The technical brilliance of the film is unparalleled, and it would need an eccentric personality to pull off such feet.

Our review read: “Parthiban has also tried to whip up shock by showing some tragic imagery, which usually doesn’t find a place in mainstream movies. He also has many R-rated pun-filled dialogues that suggest the filmmaker’s effort to shed the inhibition to say things that normally Tamil filmmakers won’t say in movies.”

Taanakaran: Vetrimaaran’s Visaranai showed how police brutality is unleashed on those who lack power. The brilliant directorial debut of Tamizh opened a new dimension of brutality that exists within the men in power. It also brought out the performer within Vikram Prabhu.

Gargi : Gautham Ramachandran’s Gargi is a brilliant achievement even in terms of the story. While our cinema is used to make threats external, with this wonderful drama, he makes us realise that evil could reside beside us or even within us. The film has incredible performances by Sai Pallavi, veteran RJ Sivaji, and Kaali Venkat.

Natchathiram Nagargiradhu:  Pa Ranjith went low-key with the scale of this romantic drama, which emerged as his boldest work till date. It is also the most experimental movie of the Sarpatta Parambarai director. The film is a response from the filmmaker to the new the narrative that was peddled in the mainstream that termed the love of Dalit people as ‘Nadaga Kadhal (drama love)’.

Our review said: “Nathchathiram Nagargirathu—its commercial performance notwithstanding— from an established mainstream director is an important step forward – not just for the director’s ideological movement, but for Tamil cinema as a whole.”

Witness:  There’s another new voice in Tamil cinema — director Deepak. His debut, however, remains among one of the underrated films of 2022. Witness is a painful story of the politics surrounding a death of a young swimmer, who drowns in a manhole when he’s forced to clean the sewer. The film brings to fore an issue that is often sidelined by the mainstream, with some marvelous performances from Rohini and Shraddha Srinath.

Vendhu Thanindhathu Kaadu:  No one saw this coming from Gautham Vasudev Menon. It is one of those rare films in Tamil cinema, where the voice of the writer is heard on screen. Thiruchitrambalam:  Dhanush brought back the long-forgotten times of Tamil cinema, where films with smaller stakes and lighter conflicts worked. It also proved it’s not that people want to come for the big screens only for larger-than-life heroes, but to anything that’s genuine and worth their time.

Ponniyin Selvan : I: Mani Ratnam finally got to realise his long-time dream of adapting the epic historical Tamil novel Ponniyin Selvan this year and how! The film ended up as one of the highest-grossers in Tamil cinema’s history and the director’s career. The film tells the story of the Chola kingdom and the power struggle that existed in the 10th century.

Our review read : “Mani Ratnam understands Kalki ’s novel is a mainstream page-turner, so he retains its flavour and neither intellectualises it nor dumbs it down.”

Vikram :  Vikram is the sort of film you get when a talented fanboy gets to direct his beloved icon. Lokesh Kanagaraj is one of the few directors, who was able to make his voice heard despite having a giant who mostly overshadows everyone and everything in his films. The film also kickstarted the trend of universe-building in Tamil cinema.

Kadaisi Vivasayi :  Tamil cinema for a long while was plagued by didactic films about farming and agriculture that were mostly shallow romanticization of rural life. Despite touching upon similar topics about organic farming, Manikandan produced something meditative with Kadaisi Vivasayi which excels in the form and the content simultaneously.

I booked this movie only based on the trust on Vijay Antony. My wife said the movie has only 2.5 stars. Still I went ahead and I am glad I did that. My wife and I thoroughly experienced the suspense and the thrill in the movie. And a lot of education on what could be happening in our state and maybe even the country. <br/>The final credits song is outstanding and the lyricist and musician have poured their soul into it. The ending of the song although feels incomplete. Could be that the song wasn&rsquo;t produced fully due to the personal situation of Vijay Antony ��

Ehat should have been a RATCHASAN like w thriller with excellent story board and premise well created is spoiled by qn immature screenplay of events and bland scenes highlighted by a worst climax of a crime thriller.<br/> Director has not come out of TAMIL PADAM series which has spoiled the movie...
