Verizon business phone plans: What are they and are they worth it?

If you're on the search for Verizon business phone plans, here's a look at what the carrier offers

Verizon business phone plans

When it comes to business phone plans, Verizon stands out as one of the best options around. Filled with features, backed by some excellent coverage and heavy on the discounts for added lines, there's a lot to like about what Verizon has to offer.

As with standard Verizon phone plans , the best Verizon business phone plans won't be the cheapest option. But if you're looking to stack up on lines, you could end up with some pretty affordable prices for your business.

  • Best prepaid phone plans

Verizon keeps things simple, offering just three cell phone plans in its business section. All three options offer unlimited data, calls and texts; the more you pay, the more features that get chucked in.

These extras include security features, mobile hotspots, more advanced 5G and priority data. Verizon also offers business phone deals and 5G internet service. In some cases, Verizon business phone plans can also get you discounts on tablets and phones when you sign up for different plans.

What Verizon business phone plans are available?

The choice in Verizon business phone plans is pretty simple: You can choose between three options, all with unlimited data — Unlimited Start, Unlimited Plus or Unlimited Pro. You can stack the plans up for added discounts with the price falling by $5 per line the more you add.

Image

Verizon Business Unlimited Start Verizon's cheapest business plan, the Unlimited Start offer, features unlimited calls, texts and data with 5G nationwide and 4G LTE. While you do get unlimited calls, texts and data, the plan is otherwise pretty limited. A Call Filter is included for screening potential spam), but you won't get mobile hotspot data or access to Verizon's faster Ultra Wideband 5G network.

Verizon Business Unlimited Plus Jumping up in cost, the Unlimited Plus plan sits in the middle of the Verizon business phone plan offerings, blending features and affordability. You'll get the same basics as the above plan — unlimited calls, texts and data — but you'll also get 60GB of premium network access, giving you priority when there is congestion. You'll also get a unlimited mobile hotspot, access to Verizon's 5G Ultra Wideband and, enhanced security features with Verizon's Business Mobile Secure .

Verizon Business Unlimited Pro

Verizon Business Unlimited Pro Finally, Verizon's most expensive business plan — the Unlimited Pro. This plan, just like the two above, includes unlimited calls, texts and data, but it brings your premium data up to 120GB. Other than that, this is almost identical to the Plus plan above with the only other difference being that you can also get 50% off Business Unlimited Pro Tablet plans.

Why choose Verizon?

Verizon business phone plans

As the biggest carrier in the U.S., Verizon has the infrastructure, speeds and connections to offer impressive wireless performance. It takes the number 2 spot in our best phone carriers guide and for good reason.

While Verizon has some pretty pricey plans, that's in part because Verizon offerings tend to be packed full of features across all of its plans, including its business options.

Through our tests, Verizon has come out on top for LTE speeds and its Ultra Wideband 5G connections reach more than 80 cities, capable of reaching 1 Gbps download speeds. Verizon's nationwide 5G network isn't that fast, but it does bring coverage to 230 million people.

Among the features included with Verizon business phone plans are Call Filters, enhanced security features and the possibility of additional plans for devices and internet service.

Which other carriers offer business plans?

While Verizon does have some of the best business plans around, it isn't the only provider catering to businesses. The other two major wireless services and many MVNOs offer business plans in some form, some focusing on affordability and others on features.

Like Verizon, AT&T and T-Mobile put their priority on feature-filled business plans...at a high cost. With unlimited data, add-ons and a host of features around data prioritization, these are the options if you've got a bit more budget in your business.

Alternatively, if you're looking for something more affordable, a number of MVNOs offer plans that will work well for a business. Mint Mobile for example is one of the cheapest providers in the US and while it doesn't offer specific business discounts, it will likely be the cheapest option for smaller businesses; just don't expect discounts on multiple lines like you'd find with Verizon business phone plans.

The best business phone plans: Reliable 5G for work

matthew-miller

When I started writing for ZDNet 15 years ago , mobile phones were being used by 74% of the US population, but only 14% of those people were using these basic phones to access the internet. The latest data shows that 97% of Americans own a mobile phone, with 85% of those being smartphones that access the internet multiple times a day.

Smartphones and wireless cellular services are now essential for businesses to compete in today's market and broad coverage is an expectation. After T-Mobile's recent acquisition of Sprint, the US market is dominated by Verizon, T-Mobile, and AT&T. Each of these carriers offers various plan options for businesses of all sizes.

5G continues to roll out across the US, but reliable LTE service is still essential to getting work done. The pricing for business service is competitive, and as someone who has been in the industry for decades, it is amazing to see the reasonable pricing for such fast service that reaches across the nation.

Its new  Business Unlimited plans  are presented below, but other options require  direct discussions  between businesses and T-Mobile.

AT&T also serves as the backbone for the  FirstNet network  optimized for first responders.

Unlimited Your Way for Business

Starting at $30 per month.

The Unlimited Your Way for Business plans allow up to 10 devices per plan group and are designed for small to medium-sized businesses. For 10 lines, the starting price is $30, $35, and $40 per line per month, respectively. For just a single line, these prices are $65, $75, and $85 per line per month, respectively.

Hotspot data allotments, priority data transmission, and higher definition streaming are features that improve as you move from the Starter tier to the Elite tier of service. Select the number of lines on the Unlimited Your Way website to view pricing for your company.

AT&T Business 4GB is available for tablets for $20 per month and for wearables for $10 per month. AT&T advertises this plan as best for small businesses.

  • Unlimited talk and text
  • Controlled pricing per each phone
  • Service options for tablets and wearables
  • 4GB data limit per each line

MVNO options for businesses

While the three major carriers offer focused business plans, there are also a few MVNOs that offer attractive per line plans that may work well for small businesses. MVNOs (mobile virtual network operators) are companies that use establish wireless carrier infrastructure to provide no or minimal contract options for customers. The MVNOs do not openly advertise which wireless carrier infrastructure they are using, but as soon as you insert a SIM into your phone, you can see which carrier is connected to which MVNO. MVNOs are optimized for consumers looking for phone service with no contracts and prepaid options, but these same elements may help small businesses control costs and adjust to market demands.

US Mobile for business

$9 per line and $2 per gb per month.

Most MVNOs offer attractive per line prices with each account limited to five or six lines. US Mobile is one MVNO that actually provides shared data plans for companies of any size. Enter the number of lines you need and the amount of shared data to view your total monthly payment.

A couple of examples include 50 lines with 100GB of data for $674 per month or 30 lines with 50GB of data for $385 per month. We had the opportunity to test out the two available US Mobile SIM cards and found the service to be fast and reliable.

  • Specific service offering for businesses
  • Scalable to your business size and line needs
  • Competitive $9 per line base fee
  • Verizon and T-Mobile serve as network providers
  • Data price per GB may be higher than unlimited plans

Mint Mobile

$30 per month per line.

Mint Mobile is one of the most popular MVNOs thanks in large part to advertising by one of its owners, Ryan Reynolds. While there are no specific business plans, three/six/twelve month plans for individual phones are available starting as low as $30 per month for unlimited talk, text, and data.

T-Mobile provides the network for Mint Mobile's service so you will need GSM handsets for the service.

  • Unlimited talk, text, and data plan options
  • Flexibility for less expensive data limit plans
  • No specific business service plans
  • Limited to T-Mobile coverage area
  • Three available contract period options

Cricket Wireless

Starting at $25 per line per month.

Cricket Wireless is an established MVNO, service provided by AT&T, that has retail stores around the country so you can get support and establish service in person if you desire. One to five lines can be setup for each account with measured data or unlimited data. Mobile hotspot data can also be added to each line.

4G LTE and 5G data is provided, along with international support, cloud storage, and more.

  • Established, trusted MVNO
  • Physical retail stores around the country
  • Unlimited and measured data plan options
  • No long term contract required
  • Service coverage area limited to AT&T network
  • Five line limit per account

What steps should a new business take to establish wireless service?

While this buying guide provides current pricing and service options from the three primary US wireless carriers and MVNOs, specific pricing for your business requires a conversation with the carrier to fully define your company needs, available service discounts, and contract lengths.

One of the first things to figure out is where you will need service geographically in the US as all three carriers have slightly different coverage maps. Your geographic operating area may remove one, or more, carriers from your viable candidate list.

The next step is to determine how many lines of service you will need and then the data needs of those lines. Calling and text messages are unlimited in all cases, but data speed and amount of data will drive your costs.

Most carriers also offer additional incentives and services, such as hotspot, in-flight coverage, Microsoft 365, and more. Make sure to account for the value of these incentives in your decision-making process.

What are the disadvantages of a MVNO?

Most MVNOs are focused on the consumer market so business plan offerings for more than six lines of service are rare. Pricing can be very competitive and with no contracts these MVNOs may be attractive to businesses just getting started that do not want to lock in long-term contracts.

Account management may require more time from businesses given the consumer focus of MVNOs. MVNOs are also subject to the infrastructure provided by the big three US carriers, but there are several established MVNOs with solid reputation and a record of high-quality service and support.

What is the best business phone plan?

We analyzed reliability, coverage, and price to compile a list of the best phone plans for your business which includes: Verizon, AT&T, and T-Mobile.

Does the choice of my smartphone model limit wireless service?

In the past, the US wireless market was split into GSM and CDMA service technologies with two carriers supporting each of these technologies. Modern smartphones support LTE and 5G service without CDMA technology your choice of smartphone is not as limited.

The most popular smartphones in the US, Apple iPhones and Samsung Galaxy phones, support all wireless technologies in the US wireless market so there are no limits on using these phones with any US carrier. If you purchase these phones directly from Samsung and Apple, then you can choose to purchase unlocked models.

Some phones are sold in a locked state so they can only be used on one specific carrier. This may be changing soon and there are processes to unlock your phone from your carrier if you decide to switch carriers. There used to be incentives for purchasing locked phones, but in today's world purchasing unlocked phones gives you the most flexibility for choosing your service provider.

With the widest 4G network coverage in the United States, Verizon is one of the largest and most popular network carriers available. The top-performing carrier offers a vast range of business cell phone plans and services to suit businesses of all sizes.

Compared to competitors AT&T and T-Mobile , Verizon leads as the network provider with the strongest and widest reach , making it the ideal choice for businesses with teams in remote and urban areas. However, strong network coverage comes at a price. Verizon is currently one of the more expensive options, with plans going up to $1,000.00 per month.

Verizon offers strong network coverage, 5G access, and adaptable plans that can meet the communication needs of businesses , individuals, and families. The carrier is a great choice for remote teams or individuals that travel a lot. Verizon's international plans provide unlimited data and texting in over 210 international countries.

Verizon's biggest shortfall is the price . While the network provider is one of the best carriers for businesses with multiple teams, it does cost significantly more than its top competitors and won't be ideal for startups and businesses with small communication budgets.

Current Verizon Business offers

These are the best available Verizon deals for business customers in June:

The cheapest Verizon phone plans

In the phone plans department, all three current Verizon plans for businesses offer unlimited talk, text, and data using the 4G and 5G networks. The Plus and Pro plans add 5G ultra-wideband support (aka mid-band plus mmWave), for faster speeds and lower latency in selected markets.

While the Unlimited Pro plan offers no restriction on speeds or phone data allowances, the Plus plan restricts the top speed after using 100 GB of data (phone or mobile hotspot) in the month. It is worth noting that both the Plus and Pro plans restrict full-speed hotspot access to 50 and 100 GB per month, respectively.

On top of that, all plans offer international data with up to 500 MB per day, plus a spam blocker for phone calls. The Plus plan adds a security package, while the Pro subscription includes a 50% discount on the Unlimited Tablet Pro plan.

Apple iPad Air

Best Verizon data and tablet plans

When it comes to data plans for tablets or wireless modem hotspots, all offers include unlimited data, with the Start plan not allowing the use of the tablet as a mobile hotspot, which is available in the Tablet Pro plan. The Pro option also adds faster data connections using the mmWave bands (Verizon's ultra-wideband network).

The Hotspot-exclusive data plans are even more straightforward, with both offering Ultra-wideband, and differing only in how much premium data is included: 60 GB in the Plus plan, and 100 GB in the Pro plan.

Faster Verizon fiber broadband connection plans

For fast fiber broadband internet plans, Verizon offers its FiOS service. It is worth checking the fine print when signing up, especially for the cheaper plans, which do not include a free router rental ($15 per month, and can be avoided if you already have a compatible Wi-Fi router).

Besides the faster speeds, approaching gigabit-like connections, the fastest plan also adds a digital voice landline, plus a Visa prepaid card, and a free router rental.

And that's it for our quick guide on the best Verizon plans for businesses. Leave a comment below if you want NextPit to cover other ISPs.

Verizon Business Internet Review 2023

Bottom line: If your small or medium-sized business needs the fastest and most reliable internet, Verizon Fios is an excellent pick. You can expect high speeds, very little downtime, and superior customer service that’ll keep your business running smoothly online.

Verizon is best for small businesses that need fast, reliable internet

Recommended and fastest verizon business internet plans.

Verizon’s fastest option is its Fios Gigabit Connection plan that boasts top speeds of 940 Mbps download and up to 880 Mbps upload. At those speeds, you and dozens of employees can zip through the web, conduct HD video conferences and VoIP calls, and upload massive files to the Cloud interruption-free.

The fastest Verizon DSL plan tops out at 15 Mbps, which isn’t that impressive—especially for $69 a month. But if you think that’s the plan for you, you can still connect a few employees and operate your business online.

What you should know about Verizon business internet

When comparing Verizon to other business internet service providers, Verizon stands out in several ways.

We praised Verizon for its lightning-fast fiber-optic speeds and uptime guarantee. These are factors that business owners should consider if they want to expand the number of users on their networks without sacrificing reliability.

Another pro for the company is its reputation for providing superior customer service to its business customers. Other internet providers— Comcast Business , for example—are known for the opposite .

But Verizon isn’t perfect. Verizon's fiber-optic network stretches across only a few dozen zip codes in the northeastern United States. Compared to Comcast internet, that's a much smaller footprint.

Moreover, you may pay more for Verizon business internet than you would to another provider for the same speeds. Plus, Verizon’s DSL plans are much slower than the competition, which Verizon’s higher prices don’t make up for. Finally, we uncovered some troubling complaints about latency, which we explain a bit later.

Verizon business internet plans, pricing and speed

Below, we've put each Verizon business plan side-by-side so you can compare them by price and speed. Verizon Fios (fiber) plans are the standouts, but we’ll take a look at each DSL plan too.

Verizon Fios business internet fiber plans

Data as of 12/7/22. Offers and availability may vary by location and are subject to change. *w/ 2yr. Agrmt plus taxes, fees & equip. charges.

Verizon’s bread and butter are its Fios-branded plans. These connections, delivered via fiber-optic cables, offer some of the fastest internet around. The Gig Connection plans are the prime offering.

The shining feature of Verizon Fios for small business is that the plans come with identical maximum upload and download speeds. These connections are often called “symmetric,” and they are great if you need to send or upload large files online. Symmetric connections are even more important for HD video and VoIP calls if you want to avoid interruptions.

Verizon Fios Gig Connection is expensive , but it’s a blazingly fast plan for businesses with the most demanding internet needs. Of course, even though it’s named “Gigabit,” which equals 1,000 Mbps, the plan’s download and upload speeds are just shy of a true gigabit, at 940 Mbps and 880 Mbps, respectively. However, considering Verizon’s Fios business internet plans are known to operate at above 100% of their advertised speeds,1 you can expect the Gig Connection plan to be as fast or faster than competitor gigabit plans.

For medium-sized businesses—those with more than 20 employees—Verizon offers the same Fios plans at the same price as the small-business market. This provides an excellent solution for growing businesses that aren’t quite ready for the cost and complexity of the Verizon Enterprise Solutions suite of products.

Verizon business internet DSL plans

Verizon LTE business internet plans start at a wimpy 10 Mbps and go up to 50 Mbps. Prices starting at $69 per month.

Verizon LTE business internet plans

Data as of 8/9/22. Offers and availability may vary by location and are subject to change. * 1 year price guarantee

Verizon’s LTE business internet plans aren’t what you’d call “high speed.” You can’t do a whole lot with 10 Mbps. But if your business employs only two or three people and you don’t need much speed—but you do need a reliable connection—then one of these plans is for you.

Verizon business bundles and packages

We bet your business needs more than internet—most likely, you’re going to need a phone system too. You may be able to save money on both by bundling services with Verizon. You can also add TV or other packages.

If your business has a phone number, you’ll still need phone service basics like toll-free numbers, three-way calling, long-distance calling, etc. You can bundle phone service—meaning business voice, not cell phone—with any internet plan. The cost depends on whether you choose Fios digital voice phone (VoIP) or standard voice services (and the cost of either service varies based on your location). One VoIP line adds about $5 per month to your internet plan (a $35 cost on its own), while one standard voice line adds $10.

For TV, you'll pay an extra $10 a month to get Verizon Fios TV, delivered using the same fiber connection as your high-speed internet service. This standard plan gets you only local TV stations, but there are more expansive plans available for higher costs.

Value-added services and packages

Verizon sells an array of extra services and packages to let you tailor your internet plan to your business’s needs. From cloud storage to high-end technical support, see if you need any of these value-added plans.

See all Verizon small-business application packages available in your area.

Products for medium-sized businesses

Verizon puts midsize businesses in a unique position. If you have more than 20 employees—but fewer than 500—you get access to certain Verizon business enterprise products.

From business digital VoIP to dedicated internet, these services help upgrade your networks, increase productivity, and improve communication within your organization.

Verizon business reigns supreme with reliability and support

Uptime: guaranteed reliability.

For businesses that have reliability and technical support as their utmost concerns, Verizon is a shining option.

DSL plans from Verizon have a 99.95% uptime guarantee—still impressive for high-speed internet plans. That exposes you to about 22 minutes of downtime a month.

For more information about uptime, see our FAQ section below.

Technical and customer support: Best in class

In 2022, J.D. Power rated Verizon best for customer satisfaction for "very small" and "small/midsize" business internet market segments and second for "large enterprise" business. 2 This distinction is important if you care about the factors customers used to rate Verizon so highly, like reliability, cost, billing, and customer service. But then again, who wouldn’t?

If you want access to the best technical and customer service support Verizon offers, consider purchasing one of its extra services or applications mentioned above.

Verizon’s 99.99% Fios uptime guarantee means you can expect downtimes below only four or five minutes per month. If you experience service worse than that, Verizon will credit your bill.

Latency: Pinged as a potential problem

It isn’t all roses with Verizon’s high-speed internet service. We caught whiffs of complaints in internet customer perceptions stemming from problems with latency. Latency is the delay in how long it takes Verizon to send a bit of information from one end of its connection to the other. High latency can lead to headaches: when your connection stalls or slows down, it can cause lower-quality VoIP calls, disruptions in file uploads and downloads, and delays in employee and customer communication.

Verizon has a service level agreement for latency of 45 ms (milliseconds) or less for its US business connections. That isn’t terrible, but it isn’t as good as what some competitors— like AT&T —offer their customers. This could be why we found all those online latency-related complaints.

Verizon business internet: The fine print

Let’s break down some of the less obvious costs, rules, and hardware requirements you may run into with Verizon.

On top of your monthly cost for Verizon internet services, you may pay certain fees for the installation, activation, or early cancellation of your service.

  • Installation and activation: Verizon waives most installation fees we could find, but you will pay $99.99 to activate a new Fios 100 Mbps internet connection or $24.99 for DSL (or $149.99 without an annual contract for either internet type).
  • Early termination: To cancel early with a two-year agreement, you’ll pay 35% of your base monthly charges for the remaining months of your contract.

You can get lower prices for signing a two-year agreement that renews automatically. For no-contract plans, expect to add about $15 to $20 per month to your bill.

You need certain hardware to run your business internet, including the Wi-Fi network. For DSL lines, Verizon will ask you to purchase a $24.99 router. Fiber plans require higher-tech equipment, so you’ll need to buy the $199.99 (or $9.99 per month) Fios Quantum Gateway. You can extend your Wi-Fi range with a network extender, which costs another $99.99 (or $6.99 per month).

Verizon vs top competitors

The takeaway.

Imagine you’re close to landing a new client for your business, and as you try to send a critical file, your internet connection freezes. If this worst-case scenario terrifies you, then your business needs what Verizon offers: superior speeds matched by equally superior uptime guarantees. Here are a few particular Verizon plans we like best:

  • For top-of-the-market speeds, Verizon Fios Gig Connection lets you do just about anything online—and scale your internet connection as your business grows too.
  • If you’re budget-conscious but still need a fiber connection, go with Verizon Fios 200M . At $69 with matching download and upload speeds, you can balance your needs for speed and cost.

Don’t need a speed-demon-friendly plan? Verizon Business Internet 3 Mbps is good for a one-person, data-light business for under $50 per month.

FAQ about Verizon business internet

But wait, there’s more! Let’s see if we can answer some questions you might have about Verizon business internet.

Fiber internet gets its name from the fiber wires with glass connections used to transmit internet data at super-fast speeds. Fios is Verizon’s brand name for its fiber-optic internet and TV services.

In other consumer news: Thanks to a 2016 purchase of Verizon internet lines in some US states, you may see Frontier’s fiber internet plans, Frontier Fiber, in more areas. 3

Verizon’s 99.99% uptime guarantee is one of the reasons we recommend the brand to many small businesses. With less than four and a half minutes downtime per month, Verizon’s “four nines” service level guarantee is worth the extra cost of its plans.

How much speed do I need for my business internet?

Not every business needs the lightning-fast internet speeds of a gigabit fiber connection. Many can get by on a few megabits per second. See which of these download speed ranges might be best for your business. (Each bullet adds to the capabilities of the previous one.)

With downloads up to 940 Mbps and uploads up to 880 Mbps, you can do near-instant file transfers, operate sophisticated e-commerce services, and scale your internet capabilities as your business grows.

  • 1 to 4 Mbps: Allows one to three users to do light web surfing, email, online computing, and standard-definition video streaming and conferencing.
  • 5 to 19 Mbps: Connects a few employees and adds the ability to easily transfer files, run ecommerce services, and stream and conference in high definition.
  • 20 to 49 Mbps: Several employees can download big files and stream and communicate online with little interruption. You can also set up well-functioning Wi-Fi for employees and customers at this level.
  • 50 to 99 Mbps: About a dozen employees can work, conference, and collaborate in real time. File sharing is easier, and downloads and backups are faster. Hi-def streaming and conferencing is clear.
  • 100 to 499 Mbps: Suits internet-heavy business operations with many users who access applications and files on the cloud. Supports website services with lots of online traffic and activity.
  • 500 Mbps to 1 Gbps: The fastest business internet available. As you approach 1,000 Mbps, all the previous activity and more become near-instantaneous, and you rarely wait for any service to function.

Where is Verizon Fios available?

Fiber internet is still fairly new in the market, which means companies that provide it are still building out their connections across the United States. Unfortunately, Verizon Fios is limited to a few markets clustered in the Northeast.

Should I pay extra for a static IP address?

Verizon’s plans all give you the option to have either a dynamic or static IP address. The static IP address costs another $20 per month, so what is it—and should you buy it?

Dynamic IP addresses can change over time if your service provider thinks it's necessary. Many customers and businesses won’t notice the change. But a shifting IP address can spell trouble if you use certain services online. That’s why Verizon gives you the choice to lock in your IP address—for an extra fee on your forward-looking statement that covers the administrative cost.

For example, you might need a static IP address if you work in digital marketing and need to “whitelist” certain IPs, including your own, so your activity on a client website doesn’t mess with the client’s traffic analytics.

Static IPs also help if your employees or others need to remotely access your network, or if you host your own servers for online communication, ecommerce, or virtual private networks (VPNs).

Companies can host clear, near real-time video conferences and webinars with large groups, enjoy rapid unlimited data sharing with fast upload/download speeds and back up data easily on the cloud. Verizon High-Speed Internet Editor's Rating:

Why we chose verizon for wireless internet service.

Wireless internet is more powerful than ever before, and Verizon stands out from its competitors with its 5G Business Internet and LTE Business Internet services. We were impressed with Verizon’s 5G Ultra Wideband product, which uses high-band, ultrawide wave spectrum 5G to deliver internet speeds of up to 400Mbps. This wireless solution provides an online experience with low lag time so businesses can enjoy high-quality video conferencing capabilities or seamless point-of-sale (POS) system operations with unlimited data. The LTE Business Internet service features plans with speeds up to 50Mbps and 150GB Premium Network Access. This offering is matched closely by AT&T for small businesses, those on the go, temporary sites and home offices. Overall, however, Verizon is the better option for your wireless internet service needs.

We like that Verizon provides its customers with fixed wireless access technology using radio frequencies instead of cables to enable high-speed connections where fiber-optic connections are not as strong or convenient. The 5G network Verizon uses was rolled out less than a decade after its predecessor, 4G and began transforming businesses by enabling technology like connected cars and smart factories. Verizon 5G powered the most immersive Super Bowl Halftime mobile experience to date, demonstrating the network has the capability to provide quality wireless service to businesses of many scales.

Verizon 5G router

As one of the larger telecommunications companies, Verizon offers a broad range of business-focused connectivity tools. While the company’s 5G Business Internet shines the brightest, there are other reasons to consider Verizon for your connectivity needs.

Customization

Verizon has a variety of solutions for internet access, which gives business owners the flexibility to choose the type of internet service , speed capacity, data provisions and add-ons that make the most sense for their unique needs. You can choose between the Fios plan, which utilizes a fiber network that works faster than traditional copper cables, the 5G plan, a scalable 5G Ultra Wideband solution for wireless connection and the LTE plan, which is designed for small businesses, mobile sites and backup services. Those who need more than just the internet can opt for add-ons like phone, video conferencing and television services. With all of these customization options, you can find the precise solution you need from one provider, although doing so may seem daunting at first. Verizon offers its business internet customers sensible add-ons to their internet plans, like video conferencing, digital or voice-over-internet-protocol (VoIP) phone service and TV for businesses. These solutions are designed specifically for improving business operations. For example, Business Digital Voice is Verizon’s VoIP calling service that allows users to stream calls over a secure, cloud-based IP network for seamless transfers of calls between offices and mobile phones. This product includes more than 30 features that enhance communication and unlimited long-distance calling to anywhere in the U.S. Meanwhile, BlueJeans by Verizon is a video conferencing platform available with the Fios and LTE plans with smart audio, up to 150 participants allowed and a Slack integration. We also appreciate that Fios TV for Business is powered by the same fiber-optic technology as Fios Internet and includes up to 325 channels. Verizon offers powerful wireless internet services with 5G Ultra Wideband, which provides the fastest wireless speeds on the market and allows you to connect to the internet wherever your business takes you. Verizon’s wireless solutions offer video conferencing from a phone or tablet in almost real time, streaming speeds with nearly no lag time and efficient POS interactions from mobile devices. We like that in many locations, businesses can easily set up their internet without waiting for professional installation. The 5G Business Internet plan provides businesses with unlimited data and speeds up to 400Mbps. Verizon also offers an array of 5G-enabled mobile devices to help teams operate smoothly.

Because Verizon offers such a wide array of plans, the pricing can be challenging to understand at first. However, Verizon provides straightforward plan descriptions and cost information to help make the best option for your business clear. There are three plan types, each with varying price tiers: Fios Business internet, 5G Business Internet and LTE Business Internet:

  • Fios Business Internet: The Fios plans include glass fiber-optic cable internet connections with professional installation and unlimited data. Plans start at $69 per month with speeds up to 200Mbps, a one-year price guarantee and a 30-day money-back guarantee. The highest tier facilitates a high-capacity connection with a three-year price guarantee for $249 per month. There is a $49 activation fee for any plan under 500Mbps, but you may be able to have this waived during a promotion.
  • 5G Business Internet: The 5G plans are a scalable wireless connectivity solution with fixed wireless internet access. Powered by 5G Ultra Wideband, this service can provide fast connections for any size business. All plans include unlimited data, and the lowest tier provides speeds up to 100Mbps for $69 per month. The most expensive 5G plan gives users speeds up to 400Mbps for $199 per month.
  • LTE Business Internet: The LTE plans, designed for small businesses, mobile sites and as a backup service, allow customers to set up their service without professional installation and connect on the go. For $69 per month, you can receive 25GB Premium Network Access and reach speeds up to 10Mbps. The highest tier lets users engage more seamlessly in video conferences and share large files more easily. It offers speeds up to 50Mbps and 150GB Premium Network Access for $199 per month. All LTE plans include 300GB of monthly data allowance.

Verizon also sells add-ons like its BlueJeans video conferencing system for $12.49 per month and Business Digital Voice for $35 per month. Like its peers, Verizon has bundle options with internet and phone service to help customers with cost savings. Plus, a $100 credit for new customers, a paper-free billing deduction and an $85 Business Digital Voice discount help make Verizon’s internet service more affordable.

Implementation

Whether your business is a candidate for self-installation or requires a professional implementation, you’ll have access to Verizon’s My Business web platform and mobile app to assist with the activation of services and devices. Generally, all installations are completed within a week of your purchase. In the “View Orders” page of My Business, Verizon customers can track all equipment purchases and service orders. When you purchase Verizon Business Internet, you’ll receive an email when the service is ready for implementation or you can view the status online. Self-installation is easy with a router and simple account activation steps are detailed online.

While Verizon’s wireless options frequently allow for self-installation, the Fios Internet plan is a multistep process involving professional assistance. A typical installation takes four to six hours, and a Verizon worker must install the cables in the ground, connect the cables to a telephone pole and install above-ground equipment. The Verizon technician will run data to your router connecting your computers to the internet and guide you through the installation to ensure stable connections. For an additional fee, the technician can also configure your computers. [Find out how to set up business Wi-Fi .]

Customer Support

Verizon Business Internet customers receive business-class customer service around the clock. You can access assistance via phone 24/7 and web chat to troubleshoot issues quickly. On the My Verizon Business app, customers can chat instantly with a customer support representative and receive answers to questions about billing and payments, account management, orders and more.

Each service provided by Verizon Business is featured on online help pages for easily accessible self-guided support. There are written directions and video onboarding resources for everything from changing a router password and getting security tips to troubleshooting connections and adding new devices to the network.

Beyond technical help, we like that Verizon also provides educational resources and new insights on business technology on its website. You can even browse case studies and sign up for webinars.

Verizon speed test

Limitations

While Verizon is a powerful, scalable and versatile internet provider, it is also expensive. The company offers an array of incentives and assistance with up to $1,500 in termination fees from your current provider, but its discounts and bundle deals only apply in select scenarios. To get the speed, unlimited data and reliability Verizon is known for, customers must pay higher rates for its higher-tiered plans. That could be cost-prohibitive for small businesses on tight budgets.

Verizon is a popular choice for businesses because of its fast 5G network, but its reach has geographical limitations. Not all of Verizon’s services are available within its operating territories and businesses in particularly rural environments may not be able to access the high speeds they expect. In various rural locations across the country, the Verizon 5G service can’t connect because there isn’t a direct line of sight between the location and the 5G cell site. In that case, you may be logistically unable to use Verizon’s internet service.

Methodology

During our search for the best business internet service providers , we evaluated vendors on the basis of their product offerings, pricing, setup process, customer support quality, drawbacks and other factors. Whenever possible, we spoke with company representatives and received demonstrations of various features and tools, keeping in mind the services businesses need based on their size, location, mobility and internet use. We identified Verizon as the ideal solution for business owners seeking wireless internet service because the provider’s 5G Business Internet and LTE Business Internet are fast, reliable options that can meet a variety of business needs.

Is Verizon’s business internet unlimited?

Is verizon business better than residential internet, how much is 5g wireless internet for business, bottom line.

We recommend Verizon Business Internet for:

  • Business owners looking for the fastest wireless business internet available.
  • Companies that want to bundle many connectivity services and save on cost.
  • Businesses interested in potential long-term wireless internet price guarantees.

We don’t recommend Verizon Business Internet for:

  • Rural businesses that may not be in the direct line of a Verizon cell tower for a 5G connection.
  • Companies that need more than 850Mbps upload speeds.
  • Business owners seeking the lowest-cost fiber internet plan.

What Is Verizon?

Verizon Wireless is the largest wireless carrier in the U.S. by subscribers, offering both 4G and 5G service nationwide. It’s a subsidiary of New York-based Verizon Communications, one of the largest descendants of the original Bell System. The company began after the 1981 breakup of Bell Atlantic, then renamed itself Verizon in 2000 after buying GTE. Verizon also provides residential broadband service on its Fios fiber optic network, allowing for some discounts for customers who sign up for both internet and wireless services.

Verizon Unlimited Welcome Plan Review

Note: The Verizon Unlimited Welcome plan was added as an option after the time of this rating, so it is not yet ranked. This section is for informational purposes only so you have the most up-to-date details and can make the best decision.

Verizon’s Unlimited Welcome plan is the lowest tier of the three unlimited cell phone plans currently available from the company. The plan uses Verizon’s 5G network but doesn’t come with unlimited premium data or mobile hotspot data. Its relatively affordable monthly pricing becomes even cheaper when you bring your own phone and bundle it with other services, like Verizon Fios fiber internet, but there is no price guarantee set for any length of time. This can be a good option if you’re looking for a basic unlimited phone plan for a reasonable price.

What’s Included in the Verizon Unlimited Welcome Cell Phone Plan?

Verizon Unlimited Welcome Cell Phone Plan Details

As with all of Verizon’s unlimited phone plans, the Unlimited Welcome plan comes with unlimited talk, text, and data; Mexico and Canada talk, text, and data; and international texting.

The plan’s data is over Verizon’s 5G network (or 4G LTE in areas where 5G isn't available), which requires the use of a 5G-capable device inside the company’s coverage area. If you’re bringing your own phone, make sure it’s compatible – it should be manufactured in or after 2020. The Unlimited Welcome plan doesn’t come with any unlimited premium data or mobile hotspot data, but you can purchase some separately for an additional charge. Speeds may be throttled during times of congestion or after you exceed monthly limits.

The prices below reflect a discount for enrolling in autopay and paperless billing. The Unlimited Welcome plan also provides up to $180 in promotional credit as part of Verizon’s bring-your-own-device program. This is applied over 36 months, and you must continue to meet the eligibility requirements. You can also bundle the Unlimited Welcome phone plan with a home internet plan for a reduced overall price.

When you enroll in an unlimited phone plan, you have the ability to choose certain perks, such as a Walmart+ membership, Apple One bundle (Apple Music, Apple TV+, Apple Arcade, and iCloud+), or Disney bundle (Disney+, Hulu, and ESPN+). These perks each cost an additional $10 per month, which is slightly cheaper than what you would pay normally.

How Much Does the Verizon Unlimited Welcome Cell Phone Plan Cost?

As with many phone plans, the more lines you add, the cheaper the price per line. Including a $10 monthly discount for autopay and paperless billing, one line starts at $60 per month. This goes up to four lines, starting at $25 per line per month with the same discount.

Note that you have to switch and bring your own phone to get the price listed on Verizon’s website. You can also get deeper discounts on monthly pricing if you bundle with certain internet plans.

Verizon Unlimited Plus Plan Review

Note: The Verizon Unlimited Plus plan was added as an option after the time of this rating, so it is not yet ranked. This section is for informational purposes only so you have the most up-to-date details and can make the best decision.

Verizon’s Unlimited Plus plan is the middle tier of the three unlimited cell phone plans currently available from the company. The plan uses Verizon’s 5G Ultra Wideband network where available, offers unlimited premium data, and comes with 30 GB of mobile hotspot data. If you bring your own phone and bundle with a home internet plan, you can get significant discounts, and you’re also eligible for device offers from Verizon. Unlimited Plus also comes with a three-year price guarantee, with restrictions. This can be a good option if you’re looking for a high-speed unlimited phone plan with some bells and whistles.

What’s Included in the Verizon Unlimited Plus Cell Phone Plan?

Verizon Unlimited Plus Cell Phone Plan Details

As with all of Verizon’s unlimited phone plans, the Unlimited Plus plan comes with unlimited talk, text, and data in the U.S.; talk, text, and data in Mexico and Canada; and international texting.

Users enrolled in the Unlimited Plus plan can access Verizon’s 5G Ultra Wideband network, which the company says is up to 10 times faster than 4G LTE. You can see where 5G Ultra Wideband is available on Verizon’s coverage map . If your area is covered, ensure your device is capable of using the 5G Ultra Wideband network.

The Unlimited Plus plan comes with unlimited premium data for when your smartphone isn’t connected to Wi-Fi. The plan also includes 30 GB of mobile hotspot data per month, which means you can use your phone to create a Wi-Fi connection for your other devices. Once you exceed 30 GB in a month, you’ll still be able to create a hotspot, but it will provide significantly slower speeds.

A discount for enrolling in autopay and paperless billing is reflected in the prices below. The Unlimited Plus plan also provides up to $540 in promotional credit – applied over 36 months as long as you meet the eligibility requirements – as part of Verizon’s bring-your-own-device program. If you want a new device, however, Unlimited Plus users are eligible for offers from Verizon.

Unlimited Plus users can also take advantage of the connected device plan, which provides up to 50% off one eligible plan for a qualifying tablet, smartwatch, hotspot, or Hum in-car Wi-Fi device. Details for this discount are available on Verizon’s website.

You can also bundle the Unlimited Plus phone plan with a home internet plan for a steeply reduced overall price.

Those who enroll in an unlimited phone plan can add on perks, such as a membership to Walmart+; a subscription to Apple One; or a Disney+, Hulu, and ESPN+ bundle. These perks each cost an additional $10 per month, which is slightly cheaper than what the services would usually cost.

How Much Does the Verizon Unlimited Plus Cell Phone Plan Cost ?

One line of Unlimited Plus, including a $10 monthly discount for autopay and paperless billing, starts at $65 per month. Four lines start at $30 per line per month with the same discount.

Please note that the price on Verizon’s website assumes that you have switched services and are bringing your own phone to the new plan. Deeper discounts are on monthly pricing if you bundle with certain internet plans.

The Unlimited Plus phone plan has a price guarantee of three years. You can find the restrictions for this offer on Verizon’s website.

Verizon 5 GB Shared Plan

Verizon logo

Unlimited international messages from inside the United States

Allows carryover of unused data

Many optional add-ons to choose from

Can only use mobile hotspot on specific devices

Data may slow down after 5 GB of usage

Verizon 5 GB Shared Cell Phone Plan Review

Note: Since the time of this rating, the Verizon 5 GB Shared plan is no longer available to add to accounts.

Verizon’s 5 GB Shared Data plan can seem like a throwback among today’s unlimited data plans. But for the many people who don’t use more than 3 or 4 GB of data a month, this plan can offer substantial savings over the unlimited offerings at Verizon as well as AT&T and T-Mobile . Verizon also allows subscribers to this plan to carry over unused data from a previous month’s usage to count toward the next month’s quota. For example, if you use only 4 GB in one month, you get 6 GB to play with the next. You can also buy extra data if needed, although the “Data Boost” rate of $15 for 1 GB can add up quickly.

Unlike the cheapest unlimited plans out there, the 5 GB plan lets you share as much of that quota with a laptop or tablet via your phone’s mobile-hotspot feature as you’d like. And it does not limit streaming video to a DVD-grade 480p resolution. This plan provides access to Verizon’s 4G and “Nationwide 5G” networks – but it does not cover Verizon’s “Ultra Wideband 5G,” which is immensely faster but harder to find. For most potential customers, that should not matter.

What’s Included in the Verizon 5 GB Shared Cell Phone Plan?

Verizon 5 GB Shared Cell Phone Plan Details

  • #6 in  Best Overall  (tie)
  • #3 in  Best Family Cell Phone Plans  (tie)

The Verizon 5 GB Shared plan provides a reasonable amount of mobile broadband for people who use their phones moderately when not on a Wi-Fi network. Many people will find they don’t get close to 5 GB a month, and even those who occasionally exceed that threshold may find that Verizon’s “Carryover Data” provision – which lets them bank unused data from a prior month – prevents them from paying any overage. The plan includes mobile-hotspot use and 720p streaming video, two things often missing on entry-level unlimited plans. This offering also allows customers to add additional phone lines – although that can leave very little data for each device – or a gadget like a smartwatch or tablet.

How Much Does the Verizon 5 GB Shared Data Cell Phone Plan Cost?

The advertised, boldface-type cost for a single smartphone on the Verizon Shared Data 5 GB Cell Phone Plan is $55: $30 in “Account Access,” then $25 for the line. This figure reflects a $10 discount for choosing paperless billing and setting up automatic payments. This plan allows adding a second phone for an additional $25 with autopay and paperless billing, although that won’t leave much data for each line. You can also add a connected device like a tablet or smartwatch for $10 a month.

Verizon Do More Unlimited Cell Phone Plan Review

Note: Since the time of this rating, the Verizon Do More Unlimited plan is no longer available to add to accounts.

Verizon’s Do More Unlimited, starting at $90 for one line, is one of four different unlimited data plans available by this carrier. But Do More (and the identically priced Play More Unlimited) probably represent the best fit for most people from Verizon. The plan offers unlimited mobile 4G and 5G broadband, subject to two limits: a 25 GB cap on mobile-hotspot use, beyond which you have to content yourself with unlimited mobile hotspot at 3 megabits per second or 600 kilobits per second speed (depending on if you’re connected to 4G or 5G), and a 50 GB high-speed data allocation, after which your connection may be slowed down during times of network congestion.

This plan includes 600 GB of Verizon cloud storage and a 50% discount on one connected-device plan (for instance, Verizon’s $10 unlimited-data offering for smartwatches would fall to $5). Verizon throws in a set of limited-time streaming-media freebies: six free months of Disney+ , Discovery+, Apple Music, Apple Arcade, and Google Play Pass. Do More limits streaming-video resolution to 720p, which is less than what many services can deliver but more than the 480p limit on Verizon’s cheaper Start Unlimited, AT&T’s Unlimited Starter and Unlimited Extra, and T-Mobile’s Magenta.

If you’re on Verizon’s Ultra Wideband 5G – which you should not count on happening often, especially outside dense urban areas – and you have a 5G phone compatible with those frequencies, you can enjoy unlimited mobile-hotspot use and stream video in UHD 4K resolution.

What's Included in the Verizon Do More Unlimited Cell Phone Plan?

Verizon Do More Unlimited Cell Phone Plan Details

  • #3 in  Best Unlimited Cell Phone Plans

The Do More Unlimited plan offers unmetered calling, texting, and mobile broadband. Unlike Verizon’s cheaper Start Unlimited, it includes access to Verizon’s Ultra Wideband 5G. When you’re connected to Ultra Wideband 5G (as shown with a “UWB” indicator on your phone), you also get unlimited mobile-hotspot use instead of being limited to sharing 25 GB of full-speed data a month with nearby devices via Wi-Fi.

The other limit to keep in mind on this unlimited plan is the 50 GB of “Premium Network Access,” also known as high-speed data, included per month. After you exceed 50 GB, you might see your connection slow down if Verizon’s network gets congested.

How Much Does the Verizon Do More Unlimited Cell Phone Plan Cost?

Do More Unlimited is a smartphone plan that runs $90 per month for one line, with discounts if you add more lines: Two lines go for $80 each per month, which is $160 in total. Three lines cost $65 each per month, or $195 in total. If you have four lines, it is $45 per month per line. If you have five or more lines, it is $40 per month per line.

Teachers, nurses, first responders, and military service members qualify for $10 off.

Verizon Play More Unlimited

5G Ultra Wideband for peak performance

4K high-definition video streaming

50 GB limit for high-speed data

Verizon Play More Unlimited Cell Phone Plan Review

Note: Since the time of this rating, the Verizon Play More Unlimited plan is no longer available to add to accounts.

Verizon’s Play More Unlimited, $90 for a single line, sits in the middle of Verizon’s lineup of unlimited-data plans; with the identically priced Do More Unlimited, it’s probably the carrier’s best option for middle-of-the-road users. Like Do More, it includes 25 GB of high-speed mobile hotspot use (after which your mobile-hotspot connection gets downgraded to 3 Mbps or 600 kbps speed limit depending on if you’re connected to 5G or 4G) and 50 GB of high-speed data (after which Verizon may tamp down your connection if its network gets congested in your area).

But where Do More includes 600 GB of Verizon cloud storage and offers a 50% discount on connected-device plans, Play More throws in the Disney+ , Hulu , and ESPN+ streaming-video bundle. That normally costs $7.99 a month; paid up on a yearly basis, it runs $79.99. The Play More plan also includes a year of free Apple Arcade, discovery+, and Google Play Pass as well as six months of Apple Music. Streaming -media fans should also note that while Verizon’s cheaper Start Unlimited limits streaming video resolution to a DVD-grade 480p, this plan allows 720p high definition.

If, however, you land on Verizon’s Ultra Wideband 5G and your 5G phone supports those frequencies, you can enjoy unlimited mobile-hotspot use and stream video in UHD 4K resolution.

What's Included in the Verizon Play More Unlimited Cell Phone Plan?

Verizon Play More Unlimited Cell Phone Plan Details

  • #8 in  Best Overall
  • #4 in  Best Unlimited Cell Phone Plans
  • #5 in  Best Family Cell Phone Plans

Play More Unlimited comes with unmetered calling, texting, and mobile broadband on Verizon’s 4G and 5G networks. Unlike Verizon’s cheaper Start Unlimited, Play More covers access to Verizon’s fastest but scarcest 5G, millimeter-wave Ultra Wideband 5G.

When you’re on that signal on a compatible phone (as seen with an “UWB” indicator on its screen), you also get unlimited mobile-hotspot use instead of the 25 GB cap on high-speed sharing of your connection with other devices over Wi-Fi. This plan has a 50 GB high-speed data limit, above which you may see a slower connection if Verizon’s network gets congested.

How Much Does the Verizon Play More Unlimited Cell Phone Plan Cost?

On a single smartphone, Play More Unlimited costs $90 a month, with cheaper per-phone rates as you add more lines to an account. Two lines at $80 each cost $160 a month; three cost $65 each for $195 a month; and four cost $45 each, adding up to $180 a month. If you want five or more lines, you will pay $40 per month per line.

Verizon Start Unlimited

No cap on high-speed data

Free international texting

No hotspot use

Data slows during high-traffic on internet

Verizon Start Unlimited Cell Phone Plan Review

Note: Since the time of this rating, the Verizon Start Unlimited plan is no longer available to add to accounts.

Start Unlimited is Verizon’s cheapest postpaid plan to offer unlimited data, but it includes two major limits. The plan doesn’t cover mobile-hotspot use at all and excludes access to Verizon’s Ultra Wideband 5G. Start Unlimited also doesn’t include any Premium Network Access, which is high-speed 5G or 4G data with 720p video streaming. That means if Verizon’s network starts to experience congestion, your connection may be the first to get slowed down even if you haven’t used any data in the current billing cycle.

You can add Ultra Wideband 5G to Start Unlimited for $10 a month, but that could be unnecessary when you can switch to Do More or Play More Unlimited at the same increase in cost. With Do More or Play More not only do you get Verizon’s speediest 5G, but also 25 GB of mobile-hotspot use and either cloud-storage or streaming-media freebies.

Start Unlimited includes six free months of Apple Arcade, Apple Music, discovery+, Disney+, and Google Play Pass but limits streaming-video resolution to a DVD-grade 480p.

What's Included in the Verizon Start Unlimited Cell Phone Plan?

Verizon Start Unlimited Cell Phone Plan Details

  • #10 in  Best Overall
  • #6 in  Best Unlimited Cell Phone Plans
  • #7 in  Best Family Cell Phone Plans

Start Unlimited includes unlimited calling, texting, and mobile broadband on Verizon’s 4G network as well as its “5G Nationwide” network – meaning the slower 5G it offers on the same frequencies as its 4G service, so you should not expect a dramatic jump in speed when your phone indicates a 5G connection. This plan does not include mobile-hotspot sharing of your connection, nor does it promise high-speed data that won’t be throttled back if the carrier’s network gets congested.

How Much Does the Verizon Start Unlimited Cell Phone Plan Cost?

For one line, Start Unlimited costs $80 a month. Verizon’s pricing rewards adding more: Two lines run $70 each for $140 total, three cost $55 each for $165 combined, and four go for $45 each to add up to $180. If you want five or more lines, it will cost $40 per month per line.

Verizon offers a discount to teachers, nurses, first responders, and military service members, starting at $10 off a single line.

Verizon Setup Fees

Verizon charges a $35 activation fee on new lines but also levies a $35 upgrade fee if you already have service but buy a new smartphone from the company – so you should be able to avoid the latter by buying an unlocked phone from a manufacturer and then moving your SIM card from the old phone to the new one. Verizon further rewards “BYOD” (“bring your own device”) customers with a $500 gift card.

Streaming Services

Each of Verizon’s unlimited plans comes with some sort of streaming service free for at least six months. The entry-level Start Unlimited offers six months of free of Disney+, Discovery+, Apple Arcade, Google Play Pass, and Apple Music. Do More Unlimited provides the same six-month freebies but adds 600 GB of Verizon cloud storage and a 50% discount on connected-device plans for accessories like smartwatches.

Play More Unlimited throws in a free subscription to the Disney+/Hulu/ESPN+ bundle as well as 12 months of Discovery+, Apple Arcade, and Google Play Pass, and six months of Apple Music. Get More Unlimited matches the streaming freebies of Play More and includes the cloud storage and connected-device deals of Do More.

International Services

For people with upcoming international travel, Verizon offers three options. The first, Verizon TravelPass, allows you to use your plan as normal – subject to a .5 GB daily data limit – but costs $5 a day in Mexico and Canada and $10 for any covered country outside of those. That list of more than 185 countries should cover most plausible international itineraries, but not if your travel extends to the likes of Angola or Bahrain.

If you have a lengthier stay overseas upcoming, Verizon’s Monthly International Travel Plan costs $100 and includes 5 GB of data, unlimited incoming messages, 1,000 outgoing messages and 250 voice minutes in the same countries covered by TravelPass.

In countries not on that list – or if you do not enable TravelPass but then start using your phone overseas – you’ll be stuck with Pay as You Go rates that run $2.05 a megabyte of data, 50 cents per message sent and 99 cents to $2.99 per minute of calling.

Reminder: Verizon unlocks phones it sells 60 days after you activate them, allowing you to avoid all of these rates by buying a prepaid SIM once you arrive and using that in place of the Verizon SIM.

Where Is Verizon 5G Available?

Verizon offers two types of 5G on different frequencies: “Nationwide 5G” on the same low-band frequencies as its 4G service, and “Ultra Wideband 5G” on millimeter-wave spectrum. The former doesn’t cover as much ground as its name might suggest. Verizon’s coverage map shows it concentrated around urban areas and their further suburbs. The exceptionally short range of Ultra Wideband 5G, meanwhile, limits it not just to cities but individual blocks and sometimes only parts of a city block. Many Verizon subscribers may never actually benefit from it.

Verizon vs. the Competition

Verizon vs. t-mobile.

Choosing between Verizon and T-Mobile may come down to how much time you spend in the especially rural areas in which Verizon continues to offer better coverage than T-Mobile. If the answer to that is “not much” or “not enough to worry about,” T-Mobile’s pricing easily beats Verizon’s for unlimited data. That’s even before you factor in how its Magenta plans – starting at $70 for one line – include all taxes and fees in their advertised rates.

T-Mobile also offers a much faster 5G experience, thanks to its widespread deployment of 5G service on mid-band frequencies that Verizon has yet to use. In addition, frequent travelers will find T-Mobile offers a much better bargain by providing free 2G roaming and texting in most of the rest of the world. However, if you regularly spend time in the more sparsely-populated parts of the U.S., Verizon will keep you connected more often than T-Mobile. If your data usage remains moderate, its 5 and 10 GB shared-data plans can even save you money compared to T-Mobile’s offerings.

Verizon vs. Google Fi

If you have an Android phone and a passport filled with stamps, the full-speed international roaming on Fi’s $70 Unlimited Plus plan coupled with Fi’s strong support for Google’s mobile operating system can make it a compelling choice. You should also consider Google Fi if you use very little data, in which case Fi’s Flexible plan – $20 for unlimited calling and texting, then $10 per gigabyte – can represent a better deal than Verizon’s unlimited or shared-data plans.

But while you can use Fi on an iPhone, you will lose some of its features like Wi-Fi calling. If you stick to the U.S., Google Fi’s cheaper pricing relative to Verizon may not be preferable to Verizon’s in-person support options. Fi’s reliance on T-Mobile and U.S. Cellular’s network may also be an issue if you regularly travel to more rural areas in which Verizon remains more likely to provide coverage.

Verizon FAQ

You can order service at Verizon’s site, in one of its 1,500 or so retail stores, or by calling customer service.

Verizon does not offer a free trial.

If you cancel service within three days of activation, you won’t owe the activation fee and will only owe a prorated share of your plan’s cost. If you buy a phone from Verizon, the company’s “no risk device trial” allows you to return it for a full refund within 30 days, subject to a $50 restocking fee that is waived for online purchases.

To cancel your cell phone service with Verizon, you will have to contact customer service or visit a store. You will need your account information handy, including the account owner’s name, phone number, and the account PIN or last four digits of the account owner’s Social Security number.

If you decide to cancel by calling customer service, you can contact them Monday through Saturday, 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. EST and Sunday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. EST. You can also schedule a time for Verizon to call you on its website.

If you decide to visit a store, you might have to schedule an appointment first. You should call the store ahead of time to check. Here are some other things you need to know:

  • If you have an outstanding Device Payment Agreement, that will have to be paid or the device will need to be returned.
  • If you purchased your phone from an authorized third-party retailer on a payment plan, you might owe them a separate termination fee.
  • If you have a promotion, the credits you received for the “free”  cell phone  will expire. You will be charged the remaining balance for both devices, if any.

Verizon also says cancellations aren’t effective until the last day of the billing cycle in which you cancel. For any more details on the cancellation policy, contact Verizon directly.

Brick-and-mortar businesses need reliable internet that can keep their locations connected for both employees and guests, as well as a dedicated phone line for answering customers’ calls. Verizon Business Internet accommodates these needs perfectly, thanks to its business internet plans that can be bundled with an extensive array of business phone plans. Its cost-effective offerings don’t provide the fastest upload and download speeds we found in our review, but they offer enough speed to suit most small businesses’ needs.

Verizon Business Internet Editor's Rating:

Why verizon business internet is best for brick-and-mortar businesses.

Verizon Business Internet offers some of the most widespread internet coverage available, so there’s a good chance it’s available for brick-and-mortar businesses no matter where they’re located. Additionally, the internet and voice bundles available means Verizon can provide a brick-and-mortar location with phone service as well, which we considered essential for a physical location.

We also liked that Verizon’s equipment is easy to set up without calling an expert, so staff can plug in the routers and gateways and connect a store within minutes. Additionally, Verizon’s price lock guarantee means your monthly rate will stay the same over time, without the need to sign a lengthy contract. Finally, Verizon offers a variety of internet connection types so businesses can choose the best one for their needs.

Verizon Business Internet Features

Price lock guarantee.

Verizon’s LTE and Fios Business Internet plan comes with a price lock guarantee. Depending on which plan you purchase, your monthly payment will stay the same for one to three years, guaranteed. Whether you’re starting out in a small shop or have escalated to a bigger office, you can enjoy peace of mind knowing that your internet budget will stay consistent. We found this to be especially useful for new businesses on a tight budget.

Premium Network Access

When business plans operate under shared internet, there may be moments when high levels of traffic cause congestion and slow down internet speeds. Furthermore, some internet providers throttle internet connections to moderate data usage. We liked that with Verizon’s Premium Network access, business internet customers can continue running their businesses even when traffic levels climb. Each business internet plan includes a dedicated amount of data for business customers, however, and users will be charged if they exceed that data limit.

Early Termination Credit

If you’re looking to switch to Verizon from your previous provider, you may be charged an early termination fee if your contract hasn’t yet expired. Fortunately, Verizon offers an early termination credit of up to $1,500 toward those fees, one of the most generous credits we found in our review. Material, utility and other costs to set up and operate an onsite facility can be expensive, so this feature is especially helpful when budgets are tight. You may need to show proof that your previous provider’s contract did end via an early termination fee to qualify for the credit.

Business Phone Plan Savings

Verizon is primarily known for their phone plans, and you can bundle some of these with your internet service. Business customers can cash in on savings by purchasing an unlimited business phone plan along with their business internet plan. Those who do can save up to $80 per month, a small amount that adds up over time and can be invested back into your business.

Phone plans available for bundling include those that support light mobile users and in-store phone lines for customer service. Although online communication is increasingly important for businesses, many customers still prefer to communicate via phone, so we liked that Verizon’s bundles make maintaining this option cost-effective and easy.

Choosing a business phone system can be difficult, so we’ve created a buyer’s guide on choosing a business phone system that could help both new and existing business customers.

Hassle-Free Equipment

If you’ve ever plugged a cord into an outlet, you’ll find Verizon’s router or gateway installation a breeze. Whether purchased separately or included in select business internet plans, Verizon’s internet equipment is simple to install and can get your business up and running within minutes. Verizon also offers expert installation if you prefer to have a professional install your equipment, but the straightforward setup means even a staff member can have your location connected in a matter of minutes.

Complete Business Bundle

Maybe your business needs more than just internet and phone service. It’s possible you’ll need to communicate via web conferencing, or perhaps you need security tools to protect your connection from cyberthreats. Whatever the case, Verizon’s Complete Business Bundle has you covered.

The Complete Business Bundle is an affordable and convenient way to get your business up and running on multiple devices in a pinch. In addition to Verizon’s easy-to-install 4G LTE Business Internet and 24/7 tech support, business customers who purchase the bundle also receive a One Talk desk phone that can ring multiple devices for easy communication with customers. We found this bundle takes the heavy-lifting work off of customers who want all of their internet needs taken care of in one simple and secure solution.

Verizon Business Internet Cost

Verizon Business Internet offers three different internet types, each with its own set of plans. The plans and prices are as follows:

  • 5G Business Internet 100 Mbps : $69 per month
  • 5G Business Internet 200 Mbps: $99 per month
  • 5G Business Internet 400 Mbps: $199 per month
  • Fios Business Internet 200/200 Mbps: $69 per month
  • Fios Business Internet 500/500 Mbps: $129 per month
  • Fios Business Internet 940/880 Mbps: $249 per month
  • LTE Business Internet 10 Mbps: $69 per month
  • LTE Business Internet 25 Mbps: $ 99 per month
  • LTE Business Internet 50 Mbps: $199 per month

Fios Business Internet and LTE Wireless Internet plans come with a price guarantee for one to three years, depending on which plan you choose, as well as a 30-day satisfaction guarantee. Verizon also offers assistance in saving money or providing credit toward purchases. Customers can save up to $80 per month when pairing their 5G Business Internet plan with a Business Unlimited smartphone plan. Also, If you are switching from a previous internet provider, Verizon can offer up to $1,500 in credit to help cover early termination fees.

Verizon Business Internet Setup

New Verizon Business Internet customers have the option of choosing between self-setup and professional installation, with the exception of the highest level 5G Business Internet plan, which requires professional installation. Regardless of which option you choose, all setups include a router or gateway provided by Verizon or any 5G compatible equipment. We found the self-installation setup to be straightforward, requiring a few simple plug-in connections to connect your location to the internet in minutes.

Verizon Business Internet Customer Service

Verizon Business Internet offers a variety of ways to contact customer service. You can reach their sales team by phone as either an individual business customer or as part of a public sector. Representatives are available Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. ET. You can also request a call to have a specialist help you figure out the right plan for your business. For Verizon Fios business customers who have questions regarding equipment, a 24/7 support phone number is available.

Verizon Business Internet Drawbacks

Verizon Business Internet only works with Verizon-specific equipment. You will need to purchase or rent a Verizon router or gateway. Any other equipment you may have purchased in the past won’t be compatible. Rentals start at $15 per month, or you can buy the equipment for a one-time cost of $299.99. If you sign up for the 5G Business Internet plan, make sure your own internet equipment is 5G-compatible.

If you compare phone plans to business internet plans, mobile features outdo business internet by a landslide. Note that if you have a small onsite business that just needs the internet to run basic business-critical tasks, you may not need to worry about this as much. However, if you need on-the-go communication or connection for your business operations, you’ll need to include phone lines with your plans for an additional charge.

Verizon’s internet speeds only go up to 400 Mbps, while other service providers we reviewed offer plans that exceed 1 Gbps. If you’re looking for faster internet speeds, consider our review of Spectrum Business Internet.

Methodology

When considering business internet providers for review, we kept in mind some of the features that business owners would need to get their business going. Part of that process included extensive research, participating in provider calls, and finally deciding on a best-pick case for each of the vendors. We considered factors such as installation times, internet speeds, business phone services, and internet availability. For brick-and-mortar businesses, we chose Verizon as the ideal business internet provider.

Best Internet and Mobile Bundles

Get unlimited mobile data and fast home internet for one low price with these bundle deals

3.9 out of 5 stars

Internet companies are offering cell phone service, and wireless carriers are diving into the internet market. It may look like a topsy-turvy world out there, but it’s actually a great time to score an awesome bundle package.

We’ve done the research and found the very best internet and mobile bundle deals. Several of these come from big internet companies, like Xfinity, Cox, and Spectrum, which offer cheap unlimited data cell phone plans exclusively for internet customers. But mobile companies, like T-Mobile and Verizon, also have big discounts for those who bundle.

We’ll go over everything you need to know about these bundle deals, from prices and contracts to availability and perks.

Guide to best internet and mobile bundles:

What to look for in internet and mobile bundles

Xfinity: best overall deals, cox: best for big families.

  • T-Mobile: Best 5G Home Internet

Verizon: Best for Fiber Internet

Spectrum: best budget pick, methodology.

There are a lot of companies getting into the mobile and internet bundle game. But choosing the perfect bundle deal shouldn’t be hard, as long as you know what to look for. Here are a few tips for narrowing down the options.

  • Internet availability: If you can’t get internet service from a company in your area, you’re going to have a hard time buying their bundle deal. Use our nifty zip code tool to see what companies offer service in your neighborhood.
  • Internet data speeds: Make sure you know how much speed you actually need to support all of your household streaming, scrolling, and gaming before you pick a provider.
  • Mobile data caps: There are many “unlimited data” plans out there that won’t technically cut your data off, but they will slow it down after you use a certain amount. Most people will want a cell phone plan that has at least 20GB of full-speed data or more.
  • Price: Obviously you want to get a low price on your bundle. But look at the fine print to see how long that price will last. Some companies have sweet promo deals but then jack up the prices after the first year. Other companies offer price guarantees for a certain period of time.
  • Perks: Bundle packages often unlock cool perks, like discounts on new phones or prepaid cash cards.

That’s enough chatting. Let’s get to the deals. We’ll start with Xfinity, which has a bundle deal for pretty much everyone.

4.3 out of 5 stars

You probably know about Comcast Xfinity because it’s one of the biggest and fastest internet providers in the U.S . But Xfinity has recently branched out to provide mobile service that can be bundled with TV and internet service .

What makes Xfinity’s mobile and internet deals great is that there are so many affordable options, and the company is constantly throwing out incredible new discounts. Here’s a look at just a few of the best Xfinity mobile and internet bundle deals.

On the lower end of the spectrum, Xfinity offers its Connect internet plan with 150Mbps internet. That’s plenty of speed for students, couples, and other smaller households who just want to stream and game when they get home from work. You can pair that with a flexible By the Gig phone plan for just $40 a month, which is about as cheap as it gets.

If you want more, Xfinity has plenty to offer. Its residential cable internet speeds go all the way up to 2,000Mbps and you can get up to 50GB of premium data from Xfinity’s Unlimited Premium Plan.

Xfinity doesn’t just do internet and mobile. It also has a cable TV service that can get you hundreds of channels and save you even more when you bundle .

In order to get Xfinity Mobile service, you have to already be an Xfinity internet customer. But, once you’re in, you’ll be on Verizon’s powerful wireless network , which has great speeds and coverage. You’ll also unlock savings on your internet bill and tons of other neat perks. For example, you can get a second unlimited data line for free for one year when you sign up right now .

If you bring your own device to Xfinity Mobile, then you’ll get a $100 Prepaid Mastercard. But you can also score a great deal on a brand new phone from Google, Samsung, or Apple when you buy it from Xfinity. Check out some of these phone deals below.

There are a few drawbacks to Xfinity’s internet and mobile bundles. First of all, you’ll have to deal with some pesky contracts. Many of the company’s best deals are only available with two- or three-year contracts. That’s a long time to commit, and after your contract term is up, you might see your prices go up .

Another issue with Xfinity is that, while its internet speeds are fast, they are not fiber speeds, and you will have a 1.2TB data cap. For those who want the best internet performance available, fiber is really the way to go because it offers symmetrical upload speeds and better reliability overall.

3 out of 5 stars

Cox is another big company that’s better known for its internet, TV , and home security services than for its wireless phone plans. But, you can save a ton of money if you bundle up your Cox internet with Cox Mobile , especially if you get a multi-line plan.

Like Xfinity, Cox offers a lot of ways to mix and match internet and mobile. Here’s a quick overview of our favorite combinations.

If you compare the prices above with Cox’s internet and mobile prices on their own, you’ll notice a difference. That’s because you automatically get a $15 a month discount on your internet plan when you sign up for Cox Mobile (lasting for the first 24-months of your service).

Cox offers a wide range of internet speeds, from a slow-ish 100Mbps all the way up to 2,000Mbps, which is enough to power a small business or a multi-unit apartment building. These internet speeds make Cox a great option for large families.

Speaking of large families, you can save even more with Cox Mobile when you add additional lines to your plan. Once you’re up to four or five lines, you’ll pay just $30 a month for unlimited data. That’s an incredible deal on top of the discounts you’re already getting for bundling.

Cox’s mobile service uses Verizon’s network , which means fast 4G LTE and 5G speeds throughout the entire U.S., with few dead zones. And you can score great deals on new devices, like $500 off the new Samsung Galaxy lineup and $300 off any iPhone.

You can save a whopping $20 a month when you have both AT&T Internet and AT&T Wireless service. While we’re not highlighting AT&T’s bundles in this article, we did want to give it a shoutout for those who might already be using the service.

So, what’s the catch with Cox? Well, there are a couple of drawbacks.

While Cox does offer fiber internet service in some areas, the majority of its network is still cable. That means you might be able to find better upload speeds from other companies in your area. We also think that Cox’s internet plan prices run a bit high for what the company offers. If you’re on a budget, you might want to consider T-Mobile or Xfinity instead.

T-Mobile: Best for 5G Home Internet

T-Mobile has revolutionized the internet industry in the last few years with its 5G Home Internet service . It’s made it possible for people to get a wireless, high-speed connection in pretty much every corner of the United States .

T-Mobile 5G Home Internet has always been affordable, but it’s even cheaper if you bundle it with a T-Mobile cell phone plan . Here’s a look at some of our favorite internet and wireless combo deals.

T-Mobile’s 5G internet service normally costs $60 a month. That’s a pretty good deal, considering that you get enough speed for streaming, scrolling, Zooming into work, and pretty much everything else (assuming you’re only using a couple of devices at once).

But when you bundle up with T-Mobile’s cell phone plans, you get an additional $10 or $20 off, depending on what plan you purchase. We think that the math makes the most sense when you go with the powerful Magenta MAX plan + 5G Home Internet. If you do, here are just a few of the benefits you’ll get:

  • Free 5G Wi-Fi gateway
  • Truly unlimited high-speed mobile data
  • 40GB of mobile hotspot data
  • T-Mobile Tuesdays perks
  • Unlimited data and texting in 215+ countries
  • 4k UHD video streaming
  • Up to $800 virtual MasterCard prepaid card when you bring an eligible device

That’s a lot of perks, especially when you consider that T-Mobile’s internet service is already the best option for many folks who live in rural areas.

There are a couple of issues that might keep some customers away from T-Mobile home internet. Your internet speeds can be impacted by many factors, like how close you are to a 4G LTE or 5G cell phone tower, how congested the network is, and how much data you’ve been using. It will never be as fast as reliable as wired alternatives, like cable and fiber.

Verizon is one of the Big Three in the mobile world. In fact, many of the companies we’ve highlighted here, like Xfinity and Cox, use Verizon’s network to power their cell phone service. But if you want the best of the best, you have to go straight to the source.

Verizon’s Fios home internet plans are some of the fastest on the market . The company has a fully fiber-optic network, which is ideal for remote workers, content creators, and serious gamers because it provides symmetrical upload speeds .

Here’s the really good part: You can get a full $25 off your Verizon Fios internet bill every month when you bundle with an eligible Verizon Wireless plan (you can also get this discount with other Verizon internet services, including 5G home internet ). Here’s a look at some of our favorite Verizon bundles.

Unfortunately, you have to be on one of Verizon’s more expensive plans (the ones that have access to the 5G Ultra Wideband Premium Data) to get the $25-a-month discount. But the discounted price really isn’t that bad. Imagine getting the best internet and the best phone service available for just $105 a month.

You’ll score all kinds of neat perks when you sign up for one of these bundle deals, like:

  • 30–60GB of mobile hotspot data
  • Truly unlimited mobile data
  • Contract-free plans
  • Free internet equipment rental
  • $200 Target or a Samsung Galaxy Chromebook Go
  • Up to $500 in credit to cover early cancellation fees from your previous provider

The biggest problem with Verizon Fios internet is that its coverage area is mostly limited to the Northeastern United States. Folks in other areas may have access to Verizon’s 5G internet service, but the coverage area for that is more limited than T-Mobile 5G service.

In short: Verizon’s internet and mobile bundles aren’t the cheapest, but if you want the best performance available, they’re definitely worth it.

Spectrum is another company that covers multiple industries, including internet , mobile , and TV . In many ways, it's similar to Xfinity or Cox because it offers fast cable internet, a mobile plan that uses Verizon’s network, and great deals when you bundle.

But what makes Spectrum stand apart is its amazing discounts for new customers. Right now, when you sign up for a Spectrum internet plan with more than 300Mbps download speeds, you’ll score a totally free unlimited phone plan for the first 12 months. You’ll also get free Wi-Fi equipment. Here’s a look at the price breakdown.

So what happens after that first year? Normally, a Spectrum unlimited plan will cost you $29.99 or $39.99 a month, depending on which plan you pick. Even if you are paying full price, that’s a reasonable cost for an unlimited data plan that comes with unlimited hotspot usage.

Spectrum isn’t one of the fastest internet providers in the country. Its customer service isn’t top-notch. It’s a real middle-of-the-road company. But, honestly, that’s good enough for most households that just need internet for streaming, gaming, scrolling, and Zooming into meetings. So why not save some money?

That does it for this review of the best internet and mobile bundles. But before we say our final goodbye, here’s a quick recap to help you make up your mind.

  • Xfinity : Starting at just $40 a month, Xfinity offers a ton of ways to mix and match mobile and cable internet. There’s a combination for every kind of household at prices that won’t break the bank.
  • Cox : If you’ve got a big household that uses tons of internet bandwidth and 4G/5G mobile data, then Cox is a great way to go. When you bundle with a multi-line family plan, you can get unlimited data for just $30 a month per line.
  • T-Mobile : Those who live in rural areas can have a hard time finding good internet service. But T-Mobile 5G Home Internet is available almost everywhere in the U.S., and you can save big when you bundle it with a T-Mobile cell phone plan.
  • Verizon : For those who want the best performance, period, Verizon Fios is a great choice. Its fiber internet plans give you symmetrical download/upload speeds and you can get a killer price when you bundle with an unlimited data cell phone plan.
  • Spectrum : Spectrum’s cable internet offers fast speeds and decent prices. But what really makes Spectrum’s bundles great is the free unlimited cell phone plan that you get for the first 12 months.

Our reviews are written by real people who have done real research and testing to determine the pros and cons of each service. For this review of the best internet and mobile bundles, we began by diving deep into the contract language, customer reviews, third-party evaluations, and our own proprietary data about the biggest players in the industry. We narrowed down our picks by focusing on the following criteria:

  • Internet type (fiber, cable, fixed 5G, etc.)
  • Internet performance (upload speeds, download speeds, and reliability)
  • Mobile coverage
  • Mobile data caps
  • Mobile data performance
  • Extra perks and contract limitations
  • Customer service

Once we’d established the rankings for the best internet and mobile bundles, we picked out companies that appeal to various types of users and households. We hope that our article has helped you find the perfect bundle package to fit your lifestyle!

Sony names new PlayStation leaders following Jim Ryan’s retirement

Sony is going with co-ceos to lead its playstation business..

Sony is appointing co-CEOs Hermen Hulst and Hideaki Nishino to lead its PlayStation business from June 1st . Hermen Hulst, who currently serves as PlayStation studios chief, will be appointed as CEO of Sony Interactive Entertainment’s (SIE) studio business group. Hideaki Nishino will be appointed CEO of SIE’s platform business group, and both will report up to Sony CFO and SIE chairman Hiroki Totoki.

The unusual appointment of co-CEOs comes just months after former PlayStation boss Jim Ryan retired . Totoki had been serving as interim CEO of SIE and was working to find the successor for the SIE CEO role, but Sony has now decided it wants to split up responsibilities for leading its PlayStation business across platform and games. Both Nishino and Hulst are Sony veterans, with Nishino having served multiple roles for more than 20 years at Sony.

This is the first time Sony has appointed co-CEOs to run its PlayStation business, and it comes amid a game industry that’s reeling from layoffs over the past 18 months. Sony laid off 900 PlayStation employees earlier this year and closed its London Studio in the UK that developed PlayStation VR games. Microsoft laid off 1,900 Activision and Xbox employees earlier this year, and then shut down the Bethesda studios behind Redfall and Hi-Fi Rush last week in another round of layoffs.

Sony’s announcement of new PlayStation leaders also comes just hours before it’s due to report its latest earnings. Sony lowered its PS5 console sales forecasts last quarter, so all eyes are now on the number of PS5 units that the company managed to sell in its 2023 fiscal year ended March 31st. We might also get further hints at Sony’s ambitious PlayStation PC plans.

During an earnings call earlier this year, SIE chairman Hiroki Totoki also discussed the opportunity to grow PlayStation games on PC / multiplatform. “In the past, we wanted to popularize console... but there is a synergy to it,” said Totoki. “So if you have strong first-party content, not only with our console but also other platforms like computers, first-party can be grown with multi platforms and that can help operating profit to improve.”
