This textbook covers the all necessary portions of mental health. The authors cover the material in great detail across the lifespan. I felt the transition of the chapters and material were easy to follow and having a glossary section will be helpful to the reader. They made sure to be inclusive and demonstrate the many areas that care for mental health clients.

As a mental health nurse who worked during the pandemic, I saw first hand how everyone was impacted. I feel the text covers all populations well. I was impressed by how the separate chapter gave the reader such insight. The authors did a good job of threading the cultural interventions throughout the text.

The text is presented in a consistent format. Having the same layout of material, I feel makes it easier for the novice mental health reader to understand.

This text addresses all necessary areas of mental health, and includes specific information regarding each age group across the lifespan, e.g., Leading Health Indicators across the lifespan." I am most impressed by the clarity and flow of each chapter. The Learning Objectives are clearly stated. The Glossary is very helpful, and the Index is inclusive. There are many links that bring you directly to related content, seamlessly. In Ch 16, Community Assessment, Florence Nightingale is referenced for her focus on Health Promotion and Disease Prevention. The images are helpful, and demonstrate the array of places that both screenings and interventions takes place, - including school nurse's contribution which is often overlooked.
This book site many, many lead agencies and links you to the site! Healthy People 2030, SAMHSA, and many Needs Assessment tools, and other Evidence Based resources. Citations are also very recent.
This book is up to date, discussing the COVID Pandemic, and it's effect on Nursing. It has Sociocultural and Culturally Competent Interventions. That is an important aspect of nursing care. It addresses Health Equities and Inequities, and supports the learning by presenting the Social Determinants of Health (SDOH) by presenting the imaging from the document, which enlivens the reading experience. Also, "Vulnerable Populations" are addressed in a separate chapter, but linked through the Community chapter, which is very helpful.
The font is pleasing, the images are helpful and supportive to the text which is very clear.
Each chapter follows the same format. I really appreciated the Learning Activities that are included at the end of the chapter. Also, the Glossary is at each chapter's end.
Chapters are clearly delineated. The book is also paginated, of course!
Yes, as mentioned, each chapter has the same organization, so the teacher and the student know what to expect.
Navigation and links are seamless, and thoughtfully placed.
I read 2 chapters and glossaries carefully. I did not note any issues.
This text has a focus on equity, and many images make that point wordlessly.
It's great! I applaud the Editors: Kimberly Ernstmeyer, MSN, RN, CNE, CHSE, APNP-BC Dr. Elizabeth Christman, DNP, RN, CNE
