My Mom Is My Inspiration

There are many people that have had an impact on my life and influenced me in many different ways. My mother, however, has had the biggest impact on my life, and influenced me more than anyone else. She has had an impact on me since the day I was born, and she still does today.

My mother is the reason I am who I am today. She taught me how to be strong and independent, yet also how to be caring and compassionate. She has always been there for me, even when no one else was. When I was in high school and going through some tough times, she was always there for me. She would listen to me, give me advice, and just be there for me. I don’t know what I would have done without her during those times.

My mother has also had a big impact on my happiness. Whenever I am feeling down, she knows how to make me feel better. She is always there for a hug or a chat when I need it. Even when she is having a tough day, she always takes the time to make sure I am okay. I know that I can always count on her to make me feel better.

My mother is my biggest inspiration. She has taught me so much and has always been there for me. I am who I am today because of her. She is the most important person in my life and I love her with all my heart.

I’m certain she had an impact on me before I could even talk by the way she looked after me as an infant. My mother has always been a Christian. Throughout my life, this has had a significant influence on me. Even though my mother was unaware of it, she still had an impact on me throughout high school. My mother may have influenced me when I was younger than that. I was young, but I am confident in saying that she impacted me.

She would always talk to me and try to get me to say things back. I don’t think I ever said anything back, but it did not matter to her. She kept trying anyway. When I was in high school, my mother had an impact on me even though I did not want her too. I was a teenager, and I thought I knew everything. I was wrong of course, but that is how most teenagers feel. My mother would always try to talk to me about my day and what was going on in my life. I would usually just brush her off, but she never gave up on me. She would always be there for me when I needed her. Even though I did not always show it, I appreciated everything she did for me.

My mother is the one person who has always been there for me. She is the one person who I can always count on no matter what. She is my inspiration and my role model. I am who I am today because of her. I love my mother with all of my heart, and I know she loves me too.

She would come over once I started to cry and see what I needed. She would change my diaper if it was necessary, or she would feed me if that was what I desired. If there was anything else wrong with me, she would certainly discover it. She wouldn’t give up until I stopped crying. If my mother had left me screaming in my crib for hours, I would have recognized her indifference quickly.

But she never left me crying for very long. She would always come to see what I needed, and try to make me happy again.

My mother was also the one who taught me how to walk and talk. Whenever I took my first steps, or said my first words, she was always there to encourage me. She would clap and cheer for me, and tell me how proud she was of me. Even when I was having a tough time learning something new, she would never give up on me. She would always find a way to help me understand it better.

My mother has always been the happiest person I know. No matter what was going on in her life, she would always try to make the best of it. She would always find something to smile about. Even when she was going through some tough times, she would never let it get her down for long. She would always pick herself back up and keep going.

My mother is the reason why I am the person I am today. She has always been my biggest inspiration. I have always looked up to her and tried to be like her in everything I do. I hope that someday I can make her proud of me, just like she has always made me proud of her.

My mother made her way through the storm, undeterred by the growing darkness and violence in the sky. My mother was eager to go out again, barely anyone knew that she was going somewhere so far. She was heading to areas of the province distant from civilization to conduct business. Despite being in her 40s, my mother had to work hard every day to support our family and earn a living.

In my memory, my mother always went to bed late and woke up early. She was busy with her work all day long. In the morning, she prepared breakfast for us and then took us to school. After work, she often went to the market to buy food for our family. Sometimes she came home late at night, but she never complained. Seeing her hard work, I felt very ashamed and did not want to be lazy anymore.

My mother is a high school graduate. However, due to financial difficulties, she could not continue her studies after graduation. Even so, my mother has always been a very happy person. When I was young, every time I saw my friends going out with their mothers, I always felt very jealous. I wished I could have a mother like them who could spend more time with me and take me out to play.

Now that I am grown up, I understand why my mother was always so busy. She was working hard to provide for our family and give us a better life. Whenever I see her working so hard, I am filled with gratitude for everything she has done for me. I am also more determined than ever to make her proud of me.

My mother is my inspiration. She has taught me the importance of hard work and perseverance. No matter what challenges we face in life, I know that as long as we work hard and never give up, we will eventually achieve our goals.

College Essay: How My Mother Inspires Me

Marco Beltran Galan

I remember my childhood fondly: looking out the window at a beautiful lake, watching the latest Nickelodeon cartoons on a big flat screen TV, driving an ATV through a muddy forest, and eating snacks from a huge  stainless steel  fridge.

That’s all true – but none of those things were mine. All of them belonged to kids of rich white people whose homes my mother had to clean.

My mother came to the United States from Mexico in her early twenties, looking for a superior way of life than what she had living on the outskirts of Morelos, Mexico. In the U.S., she took the only jobs she could get – cleaning other people’s houses. She did that day after day, week after week, year after year, to support me and my three younger siblings.

The lake view was from a house that my mom had to clean to pay our rent. The flat screen TV belonged to the child of the woman whose windows my mom had to clean to pay our electric bill. The ATV I loved to drive in the woods and the fridge where I got snacks belonged to a kid I met when I helped my mom clean his mother’s house every Saturday to buy a week’s groceries.

When I started to feel sorry for myself because I didn’t own these amenities, I would think of my beautiful mother. As I saw her do backbreaking work, day in day out, sacrificing herself for me and my siblings – giving up any life of her own – I would think, “My mom doesn’t deserve to suffer like this. I need to do more. I need to sacrifice too.”

So  I gradually gave up sports and friends to help around the house and care for my younger brothers and sister. And our frequent moves to cheaper housing meant adapting to new  schools  multiple times, saying goodbye to old friends and trying to make new ones.

It wasn’t always easy, but whenever I thought, “Why me? Why does my life have to be difficult?” I thought about my mom. Even with my learning disability (ADD) and  d epression, I pushed forward, just like I saw my mother do with her suffering.

I pushed forward dealing with frustration, asking for extra help from my teachers and holding in my thoughts and feelings. I knew the only way I could do more and be successful was by working harder on my academics. I remember my body enduring long nights of trying to complete and understand my school material.

Through all of these difficulties, my mom has been my greatest inspiration. She’s been my biggest fan and supporter. She’s taught me by her example that I need to sacrifice for others and for myself to persevere in the face of adversity. The things I learned from her example will make me a more determined student in college and a contributor to my college community. My goals for the future are to get a college degree, establish a career and to become a greater contributor to society by giving back to my community, the Mexican-American community.

With my determination to succeed in college, the pinnacle of my success will be when I will walk upon the stage, smiling cheek to cheek, receiving my degree that I worked hard for, and then gazing out into the crowd to find my mother applauding with tears running down her face.

“My mother is my role model, she inspires and motivates me to grow without any barriers”

Children with disabilities, global youth ambassadors, diksha dinde, diksha dinde, a 23-year-old student and activist from india, tells how her mother is her role model and the reason she was able to get an education and fulfil her potential..

Super humans. We read about them, watch them and admire them in the virtual world – but I live with a superhuman. She is my mother.

I am Diksha Dinde, a 23-year-old student and activist from India. I am 84% differently abled, trying to break the stereotypes related to disabled people.

Be it teaching underprivileged children from the slums near where I live or raising awareness to break taboos around menstruation, I have been doing my part to make this world a better place to live.

My mother, Mrs Chitrarekha Dinde, is my role model. She inspires and motivates me to grow without any barriers. It seems to me that this woman looks at life as a challenge and wholeheartedly intends to seize the day every day.     My mother looked after me and supported me in every part of my life. Right from childhood she has been with me like my shadow. It had been riddled with hurdles and difficulties, but she has managed to cross them all to because of the amazing and independent person she is.

Being physically challenged I am not able to move by myself and because of this I have not been able to do daily routine activities since childhood. At the beginning this was a hardship for my mother, but she was determined to make it work.

She not only helped me whenever I needed but she also taught me to help myself. She taught me to keep myself clean and neat, how to eat and how to know how much to eat.  She says, “a child does not learn from what parents say but from what parents do”.

I have had three operations and various therapies on my spine but none have been successful. I was rejected from schools because of their lack of infrastructure and facilities. I was finally admitted to one school.

My mother had to be there with me the whole day, but at the same time she also had to handle our home life. So she started tailoring and working during school hours. That is how she was able to satisfy financial needs in the home.

Now I’ve graduated in Business Administration and I’m pursuing a Masters.

Whenever I look at my mother I see an ordinary person but when I think about what she does and how she does it she becomes divine and the reason of my smile!

The experience of my life so far has truly brought things into perspective. My mother has taught me that hard times can be overcome and that losing battles can be won. She has taught me more than I could have learnt from any book.

She sets an inspirational example to me teaching me how to live life and make wise choices, even in the most uncertain situations.

I respect her a lot. She is my inspiration, my role model.

There have been multiple people in my life who inspired me to be better, who inspired the role that I want to play professionally, who inspired my sense of fashion, and more. However, if I had to select one person, who has personally inspired me to take my education to the next level it is my mother. My mother has inspired me to seek a degree in my current area of study, because she also has a degree in a field which allows her to help those with disabilities. More specifically, my mother’s education prepared he to specifically focus on helping members of the geriatric population who have disabilities. Watching her work with those in need has been an inspiration, because of the compassion that she shows for those she works with. She taught me that doing something, in your studies that would allow me to make a meaningful contribution to others would be both personally and professionally fulfilling. This is not the only way that my mother inspired me, however. I was also inspired by her ability to pursue both her education and her profession, in spite of hard personal circumstances. This inspired me because it taught me that you cannot let any life circumstances rob you of your education, or your drive to achieve. She continued to pursue her education in spite of a variety of challenges. First, she suffered from financial difficulties. It is never easy to pay for an education, and since she was raising me, and my siblings, alone, it was an even greater sacrifice. However, she knew that short-term financial difficulty, during the years that she was pursuing her degree, would be worth the long term financial benefits of a professional degree. Further, she also suffered from significant personal tragedy and stress. She continued pursuing her education and career in spite of the birth of her children, her divorce from our father, a number of personal tragedies, including the death of her parents, a robbery, and fulfilling the day-today responsibilities that go with running a family. I have thought that it is not fair that she suffered so much for us, while trying to better herself. No woman should have had to carry the weight of all the suffering that she did. As a result of her determination, and her pursuit of her professional accomplishment, her family continues to walk the path of victory today. She gave us all a foundation in education, and has built our lives upon that foundation. Seeing her go through those hardships, and come out a successful, graceful professional has taught me that no matter the life circumstances that I may go through, no one can take my education from me. Further, it taught me that there is great value in education, because you do not know what is in your future, but gaining an education which prepares me for a strong profession can provide strong foundation for success, in any circumstances. Finally she taught me that education, and the importance of expanding my education never stops. Not only does she have a degree, but she continues with certifications and continuing education yearly, so that she can remain a leader in her field. As a result, I too will continue to be a life-long learner, and to expand my knowledge and education in order to promote myself professionally, long-term. Overall, my mother represents, to me, a divine design in what it is to be a female professional. She has shown me the ability of transformation, dedication, and overcoming even when the earth quakes beneath, and things seem uncertain. So, I know that when the storm comes, and life gets hard, although many will fall, that I will continue to stand and not be swayed, because the foundation of the education I will obtain will provide a foundation on which I can stand.

Mom, you're my inspiration, to the woman who is everything i aspire to be..

Mom, You're My Inspiration

Every girl says that their mom is their superhero, best friend, or role model. Moms do everything for us from the day we are born until we can do it ourselves, and sometimes even then. I see articles all the time about mothers and how amazing they are. Everyone thinks they have the best mom in the world, which is unbelievable to me; because I do. But my mom isn't just my superhero, best friend, role model and my rock. She is my inspiration.

My mom has taught me so much throughout my life, I couldn't even begin to explain it. She never really taught me lessons, but showed me by example. Some lessons have stuck more than others. She has shown me excellent judgment and decision. With every decision I make, I think to myself, "what would Mom do?" I know that she makes the right choices, so if I can aim to think the way she does, I'll be okay. My mom taught me my worth as a person. I've learned not to waste my time on people that don't treat me right. She doesn't let people walk all over her, and I've taken that lesson to heart. She has shown me resilience and strength. I have seen her go through hard times, from seeing her children through an unthinkable amount of problems to dealing with her own personal struggles. Her strength through life has been remarkable. She is a fighter who never gives up, no matter how hard it gets. If I can ever be half the mother she is, my children will be fortunate.

I am probably biased, but my mom is the most amazing woman I know. Not just as a mom, but as a person. She is always willing to help out. From carpool drivers, to yearbook designer, to spirit wear coordinator, to planning school dances; she is always helping. Her plate is always full, but she always finds room to take on more responsibility. I don't know how she does it. She gets an idea and runs with it. Plus, she's insanely accountable and organized while doing it. She shows unbelievable determination and always has a goal in mind. Her life isn't always all business though. Her sense of humor will leave you giggling and she can always have a good time. She gives great advice and is there when someone needs a friend. I've seen her go out of her way to make someone's day, and expect nothing in return. My mother is the perfect example of what I aspire to be.

Everyday, this woman inspires me to be the best I can. The world needs more women like my mother. Her support, drive, strength, and heart cannot be found just anywhere. I am blessed to call her my mom. You hear kids say they want to be "just like mommy" when they grow up. Well, I am grown up, but I still want to be just like her.

19 Lessons I'll Never Forget from Growing Up In a Small Town

There have been many lessons learned..

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

1. The importance of traditions.

Sometimes traditions seem like a silly thing, but the fact of it is that it's part of who you are. You grew up this way and, more than likely, so did your parents. It is something that is part of your family history and that is more important than anything.

2. How to be thankful for family and friends.

No matter how many times they get on your nerves or make you mad, they are the ones who will always be there and you should never take that for granted.

3. How to give back.

When tragedy strikes in a small town, everyone feels obligated to help out because, whether directly or indirectly, it affects you too. It is easy in a bigger city to be able to disconnect from certain problems. But in a small town those problems affect everyone.

4. What the word "community" really means.

Along the same lines as #3, everyone is always ready and willing to lend a helping hand when you need one in a small town and to me that is the true meaning of community. It's working together to build a better atmosphere, being there to raise each other up, build each other up, and pick each other up when someone is in need. A small town community is full of endless support whether it be after a tragedy or at a hometown sports game. Everyone shows up to show their support.

5. That it isn't about the destination, but the journey.

People say this to others all the time, but it takes on a whole new meaning in a small town. It is true that life is about the journey, but when you're from a small town, you know it's about the journey because the journey probably takes longer than you spend at the destination. Everything is so far away that it is totally normal to spend a couple hours in the car on your way to some form of entertainment. And most of the time, you're gonna have as many, if not more, memories and laughs on the journey than at the destination.

6. The consequences of making bad choices.

Word travels fast in a small town, so don't think you're gonna get away with anything. In fact, your parents probably know what you did before you even have a chance to get home and tell them. And forget about being scared of what your teacher, principle, or other authority figure is going to do, you're more afraid of what your parents are gonna do when you get home.

7. To trust people, until you have a reason not to.

Everyone deserves a chance. Most people don't have ill-intentions and you can't live your life guarding against every one else just because a few people in your life have betrayed your trust.

8. To be welcoming and accepting of everyone.

While small towns are not always extremely diverse, they do contain people with a lot of different stories, struggle, and backgrounds. In a small town, it is pretty hard to exclude anyone because of who they are or what they come from because there aren't many people to choose from. A small town teaches you that just because someone isn't the same as you, doesn't mean you can't be great friends.

9. How to be my own, individual person.

In a small town, you learn that it's okay to be who you are and do your own thing. You learn that confidence isn't how beautiful you are or how much money you have, it's who you are on the inside.

10. How to work for what I want.

Nothing comes easy in life. They always say "gardens don't grow overnight" and if you're from a small town you know this both figuratively and literally. You certainly know gardens don't grow overnight because you've worked in a garden or two. But you also know that to get to the place you want to be in life it takes work and effort. It doesn't just happen because you want it to.

11. How to be great at giving directions.

If you're from a small town, you know that you will probably only meet a handful of people in your life who ACTUALLY know where your town is. And forget about the people who accidentally enter into your town because of google maps. You've gotten really good at giving them directions right back to the interstate.

12. How to be humble.

My small town has definitely taught me how to be humble. It isn't always about you, and anyone who grows up in a small town knows that. Everyone gets their moment in the spotlight, and since there's so few of us, we're probably best friends with everyone so we are as excited when they get their moment of fame as we are when we get ours.

13. To be well-rounded.

Going to a small town high school definitely made me well-rounded. There isn't enough kids in the school to fill up all the clubs and sports teams individually so be ready to be a part of them all.

14. How to be great at conflict resolution.

In a small town, good luck holding a grudge. In a bigger city you can just avoid a person you don't like or who you've had problems with. But not in a small town. You better resolve the issue fast because you're bound to see them at least 5 times a week.

15. The beauty of getting outside and exploring.

One of my favorite things about growing up in a rural area was being able to go outside and go exploring and not have to worry about being in danger. There is nothing more exciting then finding a new place somewhere in town or in the woods and just spending time there enjoying the natural beauty around you.

16. To be prepared for anything.

You never know what may happen. If you get a flat tire, you better know how to change it yourself because you never know if you will be able to get ahold of someone else to come fix it. Mechanics might be too busy , or more than likely you won't even have enough cell service to call one.

17. That you don't always have to do it alone.

It's okay to ask for help. One thing I realized when I moved away from my town for college, was how much my town has taught me that I could ask for help is I needed it. I got into a couple situations outside of my town where I couldn't find anyone to help me and found myself thinking, if I was in my town there would be tons of people ready to help me. And even though I couldn't find anyone to help, you better believe I wasn't afraid to ask.

18. How to be creative.

When you're at least an hour away from normal forms of entertainment such as movie theaters and malls, you learn to get real creative in entertaining yourself. Whether it be a night looking at the stars in the bed of a pickup truck or having a movie marathon in a blanket fort at home, you know how to make your own good time.

19. To brush off gossip.

It's all about knowing the person you are and not letting others influence your opinion of yourself. In small towns, there is plenty of gossip. But as long as you know who you really are, it will always blow over.

Grateful Beyond Words: A Letter to My Inspiration

I have never been so thankful to know you..

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

You have taught me that you don't always have to strong. You are allowed to break down as long as you pick yourself back up and keep moving forward. When life had you at your worst moments, you allowed your friends to be there for you and to help you. You let them in and they helped pick you up. Even in your darkest hour you showed so much strength. I know that you don't believe in yourself as much as you should but you are unbelievably strong and capable of anything you set your mind to.

Your passion to make a difference in the world is unbelievable. You put your heart and soul into your endeavors and surpass any personal goal you could have set. Watching you do what you love and watching you make a difference in the lives of others is an incredible experience. The way your face lights up when you finally realize what you have accomplished is breathtaking and I hope that one day I can have just as much passion you have.

The love you have for your family is outstanding. Watching you interact with loved ones just makes me smile . You are so comfortable and you are yourself. I see the way you smile when you are around family and I wish I could see you smile like this everyday. You love with all your heart and this quality is something I wished I possessed.

You inspire me to be the best version of myself. I look up to you. I feel that more people should strive to have the strength and passion that you exemplify in everyday life. You may be stubborn at points but when you really need help you let others in, which shows strength in itself. I have never been more proud to know someone and to call someone my role model. You have taught me so many things and I want to thank you. Thank you for inspiring me in life. Thank you for making me want to be a better person.

Waitlisted for a College Class? Here's What to Do!

Dealing with the inevitable realities of college life..

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Don't freak out

This is a rule you should continue to follow no matter what you do in life, but is especially helpful in this situation.

Email the professor

Around this time, professors are getting flooded with requests from students wanting to get into full classes. This doesn't mean you shouldn't burden them with your email; it means they are expecting interested students to email them. Send a short, concise message telling them that you are interested in the class and ask if there would be any chance for you to get in.

Attend the first class

Often, the advice professors will give you when they reply to your email is to attend the first class. The first class isn't the most important class in terms of what will be taught. However, attending the first class means you are serious about taking the course and aren't going to give up on it.

Keep attending class

Every student is in the same position as you are. They registered for more classes than they want to take and are "shopping." For the first couple of weeks, you can drop or add classes as you please, which means that classes that were once full will have spaces. If you keep attending class and keep up with assignments, odds are that you will have priority. Professors give preference to people who need the class for a major and then from higher to lower class year (senior to freshman).

Have a backup plan

For two weeks, or until I find out whether I get into my waitlisted class, I will be attending more than the usual number of classes. This is so that if I don't get into my waitlisted class, I won't have a credit shortage and I won't have to fall back in my backup class. Chances are that enough people will drop the class, especially if it is very difficult like computer science, and you will have a chance. In popular classes like art and psychology, odds are you probably won't get in, so prepare for that.

Remember that everything works out at the end

Life is full of surprises. So what if you didn't get into the class you wanted? Your life obviously has something else in store for you. It's your job to make sure you make the best out of what you have.

Navigating the Talking Stage: 21 Essential Questions to Ask for Connection

It's mandatory to have these conversations..

Whether you met your new love interest online , through mutual friends, or another way entirely, you'll definitely want to know what you're getting into. I mean, really, what's the point in entering a relationship with someone if you don't know whether or not you're compatible on a very basic level?

Consider these 21 questions to ask in the talking stage when getting to know that new guy or girl you just started talking to:

1. What do you do for a living?

What someone does for a living can tell a lot about who they are and what they're interested in! Their career reveals a lot more about them than just where they spend their time to make some money.

2. What's your favorite color?

OK, I get it, this seems like something you would ask a Kindergarten class, but I feel like it's always good to know someone's favorite color . You could always send them that Snapchat featuring you in that cute shirt you have that just so happens to be in their favorite color!

3. Do you have any siblings?

This one is actually super important because it's totally true that people grow up with different roles and responsibilities based on where they fall in the order. You can tell a lot about someone just based on this seemingly simple question.

4. What's your favorite television show?

OK, maybe this isn't a super important question, but you have to know ASAP if you can quote Michael Scott or not. If not, he probably isn't the one. Sorry, girl.

5. When is your birthday?

You can then proceed to do the thing that every girl does without admitting it and see how compatible your zodiacs are.

6. What's your biggest goal in life?

If you're like me, you have big goals that you want to reach someday, and you want a man behind you who also has big goals and understands what it's like to chase after a dream. If his biggest goal is to see how quickly he can binge-watch " Grey's Anatomy " on Netflix , you may want to move on.

7. If you had three wishes granted to you by a genie, what would they be?

This is a go-to for an insight into their personality. Based on how they answer, you can tell if they're goofy, serious, or somewhere in between.

8. What's your favorite childhood memory?

For some, this may be a hard question if it involves a family member or friend who has since passed away . For others, it may revolve around a tradition that no longer happens. The answers to this question are almost endless!

9. If you could change one thing about your life, what would it be?

We all have parts of our lives and stories that we wish we could change. It's human nature to make mistakes. This question is a little bit more personal but can really build up the trust level.

10. Are you a cat or a dog person?

I mean, duh! If you're a dog person, and he is a cat person, it's not going to work out.

11. Do you believe in a religion or any sort of spiritual power?

Personally, I am a Christian, and as a result, I want to be with someone who shares those same values. I know some people will argue that this question is too much in the talking stage , but why go beyond the talking stage if your personal values will never line up?

12. If you could travel anywhere in the world, where would it be?

Even homebodies have a must visit place on their bucket list !

13. What is your ideal date night?

Hey, if you're going to go for it... go for it!

14. Who was/is your celebrity crush?

For me, it was hands-down Nick Jonas . This is always a fun question to ask!

15. What's a good way to cheer you up if you're having a bad day?

Let's be real, if you put a label on it, you're not going to see your significant other at their best 24/7.

16. Do you have any tattoos?

This can lead to some really good conversations, especially if they have a tattoo that has a lot of meaning to them!

17. Can you describe yourself in three words?

It's always interesting to see if how the person you're talking to views their personal traits lines ups with the vibes you're getting.

18. What makes you the most nervous in life?

This question can go multiple different directions, and it could also be a launching pad for other conversations.

19. What's the best gift you have ever received?

Admittedly, I have asked this question to friends as well, but it's neat to see what people value.

20. What do you do to relax/have fun?

Work hard, play hard, right?

21. What are your priorities at this phase of your life?

This is always interesting because no matter how compatible your personalities may be, if one of you wants to be serious and the other is looking for something casual, it's just not going to work.

My Mother Is My Source of Inspiration: Speech

Do you have an idol? Many people do, nowadays. To some, those are sportsmen; to others – pop-stars, singers, Hollywood stars and dancers. I do not need to go far or look too hard for a role model. I take inspiration from a person I am close to, and whom I love very much. That person is my mother.

Perspectives, goals, and views may change with time. Objects of adoration and admiration may change as well. However, for most of us, our mothers will always remain our first superheroes. When I was very little, I often approached my mother with questions concerning the way babies were created that were difficult to answer, but she always did in an age-appropriate manner. When I was in need of help as a young adult, she was there each time. For instance, when I had marital issues, my mother gave me essential advice that helped me restore my marriage. She advised seeking for counseling along with prayer with our former pastor. This advice changed my entire life – if I did not reconcile with my husband, I probably would not be able to go to school now, or I would probably date around entering useless relationships. The advice she gave me was based on of her prior experience in marriage which gave her wisdom in the long run.

There is nothing she cannot answer, and there is nothing she cannot do. I want to be just like her! I want to be a wise, powerful and benevolent being, as a young adult. I became an adult at a very young age (when I was 16, to be exact). Years have passed, but some things never change. My mother still knows best. Of course, I defy her from time to time, trying to find my way of doing things – not being tidy enough, which causes a tremendous amount of cleaning in the long run, not being organized and waiting the last minute to do things, and tell her I can maintain an easy-going life without following her instructions. Still, more often than not, it turns out that she is right, and I am not.

I fail to understand people who blindly adore popular idols. Sure, a singer or a sportsman could be great at what they are doing, but you will never get to know them personally. Most likely they will never even be aware of your existence, while the person who has known you from day one, who has had the most influence on your life, who loves you deeply and unconditionally, and who deserves to be revered and viewed as a source of admiration and inspiration, is right next to you, under the same roof.

I admire my mother for many things. I admire her dedication and strength of will – these qualities make a difference between a good mother and a bad mother. It is hard to raise a child properly. With all the negative influence out here to keep your child on the right path – it requires a lot of sacrifice dedication and discipline. There are no breaks, no vacations and no weekends for a mother. I admire her wisdom and value her advice, even if I decline it sometimes in order to do things my way. I am thankful for her allowing me to do things my way, even if it occasionally leads to failure. My prime example is when my mother told me I was too young to get married when I was 18. I did not listen, and it was an experience for me to understand and appreciate what she was trying to tell me.

My mother inspires me through simple presence. She was always consistent with her daily living: she got her education, worked and provided a stable home for myself and siblings. I cannot stay idle while she is working, and when I help her out, her presence alone pushes me to perform better. When I need to make a decision, and when she is not around, I always ask myself, “What would my mother do?” More often than not, the answer is the right way to go.

I am grateful to her, for everything. I wish to repay her, in turn. She inspires me to strive for greater goals, and she is always there for me to help me get up when I fall. She is always there, with a helping hand and a word of encouragement, and it motivates me to stand up and try again whenever I feel I am ready to throw in the towel. For example, when I failed my driving test and when I failed my GED, she never gave up. She has always supported me, and she always helps me regain my belief in myself. She will always stay at my side, studying with me, praying and being a great support. With such a great role model around, why would I need anybody else?

Mother is the first word of a child. As for me, my mother is the most precious gift of God for me. It is a very challenging task for me to describe her in words. For every child, the mother is the most caring and loving person they have ever met in life.

My mother also possesses all those qualities that a mother has. We have 6 members in our family; my father-mother, my grandparents and my younger sister and me. But my mother is the only member for whom we can call our house “A Home”.

My mother is an early riser. She gets up at dawn and starts her schedule. She takes proper care of us and feeds us different delicious food. My mother knows all the likes and dislikes of each and every member of our family.

450 words Essay on My Mother in English

(My Mother Essay for Class 10)

Famous poet George Eliot quotes

Life began with waking up

And loving my mother’s face

YES, we all start our day with our mother’s smiling face. My day started when my mother gets me up early in the morning. For me, my mom is the best example of love and kindness in this universe. She knows how to take care of us.

From the very tender age, I became a fan of her as I like my mom’s hardworking and dedicated nature. My mom sacrificed a lot in order to shape my life. She has brought me up with utmost love and care.

She could understand me even when I couldn’t utter a word. Mother is another name of true love. A mother loves his child selflessly and doesn’t expect or demand anything in return. My mother whom I call mom turns our house into a home.

My mother is the busiest person at our home. She gets up much before the sun rises and start to perform her duty. She cooks food for us, takes care of us, goes shopping and even plans our future too.

In our family, my mother plans how to spend and how to save for the future. My mom was my first teacher. She also plays a vital role in shaping my moral character. She doesn’t even forget to take care of our health.

Whenever any one of our family members falls sick, my mother spends a sleepless night and sits beside him/her and take care of him/her for the whole night. My mom never tires of her responsibility. My father also depends on her whenever he finds any difficulty in taking any serious decision.

The word mother is full of emotion and love. The value of this sweet word is truly felt by those children who don’t have anyone to call ‘mother’. So the one who has his/her mother beside them should feel proud.

But in today’s world, some wicked children consider their mother a burden when she gets old. The person who spends all her life for their children become a burden for their child at the last moment of her life.

Some selfish child even doesn’t bother to send his/her mom to old age home. This is really a shame and unfortunate incident as well. The government should keep an eye to those incidents and should take those shameless children in judicial custody.

I want to stand with my mother like a shadow all the time. I know today I am here only because of her. So I want to serve my mother for the rest of my life. I also want to build my carrier so that my mom feels proud of me.

Students are often asked to write an essay on My Inspiration In Life in their schools and colleges. And if you’re also looking for the same, we have created 100-word, 250-word, and 500-word essays on the topic.

Let’s take a look…

100 Words Essay on My Inspiration In Life

My inspiration.

Everyone has someone who inspires them in life. For me, it’s my mother. She is strong, kind, and works hard every day. Her love and support give me the power to face challenges.

Lessons from Mom

My mom has taught me to be honest and to always do my best. She shows me that with patience and hard work, I can reach my goals. Watching her overcome difficulties with a smile is truly motivating.

Dreams and Goals

Because of my mom, I dream big and set goals. She encourages me to study and learn new things. Her belief in me makes me believe in myself, and that’s why she is my inspiration.

250 Words Essay on My Inspiration In Life

My guiding star.

In life, everyone has a source of motivation that pushes them to do better. For me, that source is my mother. She is my inspiration, showing me the power of love, hard work, and kindness every day. Her life story is like a book filled with lessons that guide me.

Strength in Tough Times

My mother has faced many tough situations. When things get hard, she doesn’t give up. Instead, she finds a way to solve problems with a smile. Watching her has taught me to be strong and positive, even when things don’t go my way.

Love and Kindness

Her love for our family and others is endless. She cares for everyone, even people she doesn’t know well. This has taught me to be kind and to help others. I’ve learned that a small act of kindness can make a big difference in someone’s day.

Working Hard

My mother works very hard. She always says that if you want something, you need to work for it. She never waits for things to happen; she makes them happen. This has shown me the value of hard work and not to be afraid of trying new things.

My mother is the light that guides me. She has shown me how to face life with a brave heart, to be kind to everyone, and to work hard for my dreams. She is not just my mom; she’s my hero. I want to be like her as I grow up, spreading love and positivity wherever I go.

500 Words Essay on My Inspiration In Life

Who inspires me.

Everyone has someone who inspires them to be better, to reach higher, and to dream bigger. For me, that person is my grandmother. She is the light that guides me through my life’s journey. Her life story, the kindness she shows to everyone, and her never-give-up attitude are what make me want to become the best version of myself.

Grandmother’s Life Story

My grandmother grew up in a small village with very little. She didn’t have the chance to go to school for long because she had to work to help her family. But she loved to learn. She taught herself to read and write more by reading old newspapers and practicing every day. Even now, she tells me stories of those times and how important it is to keep learning, no matter what. When I think of her, I feel motivated to do well in school and to never stop being curious.

Kindness to Everyone

Another thing about my grandmother that inspires me is her kindness. She has a smile for everyone and always finds a way to help those in need. I’ve seen her give food to people who are hungry and offer warm clothes to those who are cold. She says, “Being kind costs nothing but means everything.” I try to live by these words and show kindness just like she does.

Never-Give-Up Attitude

Life has thrown many challenges at my grandmother. She has seen tough times, but she never lets them defeat her. She always finds a way to solve problems, and she never stops trying. When I face something hard in school or with friends, I remember her strength. It gives me the courage to keep going and not to quit, just like she never does.

Learning From Mistakes

My grandmother always says that mistakes are just another way to learn. She doesn’t get upset when something goes wrong. Instead, she looks for what can be learned from it. This has taught me not to be afraid of making mistakes. I know that when I mess up, it’s not the end of the world. It’s just a step in learning and getting better.

Looking to the Future

Thinking about my grandmother and all that she stands for helps me to dream about my future. I want to be someone who makes a difference, just like she does. I want to work hard, be kind, and face challenges with a brave heart. She has shown me that it’s possible to do all these things, even when life is tough.

In conclusion, my grandmother is my inspiration in life. Her story, her kindness, her strength, and her wisdom light up the path I want to follow. She may not be famous or have done world-changing things, but to me, she is a hero. She makes me believe that I can achieve my dreams and be a good person along the way. Whenever I think of her, I am filled with hope and a desire to reach for the stars, just like she has always done.

Anne Lamott Has Written Classics. This Is Not One of Them.

Slim and precious, “Somehow: Thoughts on Love” doesn’t measure up to her best nonfiction.

SOMEHOW: Thoughts on Love, by Anne Lamott

Anne Lamott is a national treasure who, at age 70, is putting out not books but throw pillows with embroidered mottoes and little tassels. A lot of people find comfort in them and will curl right up with her latest, “Somehow,” a collection of inspirational anecdotes and meditations. Yours truly wants them off the bed.

It wasn’t always like this. In a world when many books are regrettably D.O.A., Lamott published two works of nonfiction in the space of two years that were C.O.A.: classics on arrival.

“ Operating Instructions ” (1993) was a scatologically exact account of raising her baby, Sam, minus a father in the picture, that presaged a brood of parenting memoirs, including Rachel Cusk’s “A Life’s Work.”

And countless writers have clutched “ Bird by Bird ” (1994), a guide to conquering the terror of the blank page during their dark nights of the soul. (Darker, so much darker, since the internet made words cheap.)

My introduction to Lamott was reviewing “Crooked Little Heart” (1997), about an adolescent girl named Rosie on the tennis circuit, for a different publication. I disagreed completely with the esteemed Benjamin Cheever’s complaint in The New York Times that nothing really happened in it . If you had any memory of being an adolescent girl, then that nothingness, which included a creepy spectator named Luther and a teen pregnancy, was everything.

Finding out “Crooked Little Heart” was a sequel to “Rosie” (1983), wherein the protagonist’s mother is widowed young and reckons with her alcoholism, was like walking through the wardrobe in “The Chronicles of Narnia” into a fictional world whose boundaries magically expand. A comparison more fitting when you realize that Lamott’s work, like C.S. Lewis’s, has a strong Christian subtext — when it’s not beckoning you right into the next pew.

Though religious, Lamott, a longtime member of a Bay Area Presbyterian church where she teaches Sunday school, is never holier-than-thou. If her fellow Californian Joan Didion slouched coolly towards Bethlehem, Lamott is forever fumbling toward transcendence, disclosing her baser impulses and littering profanities.

There is the indelible comparison, from “Rosie,” of professional jealousy to swallowing golf balls. In “Somehow” Lamott recalls envying another mom whose son is in medical school and modeling in Milan while Sam is at a low point, and her resentment of a female friend of a friend, with “perfect breasts, proud and immobile as the lions outside the New York Public Library.” (She can also be quite preoccupied with rear ends and jiggly arms.)

Didion’s California was ominous, remote, dry, chilly as an aperitif; Lamott’s is optimistic, accessible, earthy and — hand in hand with her Christianity — suffused with confessional recovery culture, warm as the cup of tea that is served at least half a dozen times in these pages. Only occasionally in “Somehow” does she invoke the bad old days, when she had to “all but army crawl across the floor of my houseboat to get us the platter of cocaine.”

In “Miami,” Didion wrote solemnly of Cuban exiles; in “Somehow,” Lamott takes a pleasure trip to Cuba with her newish husband , Neal Allen — though it’s not that pleasurable for her, because of the bad Wi-Fi — and encounters a pair of locals, wrapping “my aged imperialist running dog arms” around “the youthful coffee-colored socialist shoulders” of a young woman as they cavort in the surf, then discovering to her delight that her boyfriend is also in recovery, 12 years.

“Sí, sobrio. Alcohólicos Anónimos,” he tells her. “Bill Wilsonos!”

“Ay, caramba,” Lamott replies.

There’s no reason to persist with the daffy Didion comparison, except that both writers are mass-worshiped and occasionally scolded for their white privilege . Didion had dread ; Lamott has dreadlocks . Instead of reclusion and spareness and a frozen youthful image on tote bags , Lamott seems forever available, just next door, sharing the creaks of age and experience in the media ( including The Times ) and on social media — and churning out book after book after book.

Cross-eyed from my own toddlers — part of Lamott’s appeal, to women, is that she seems to guide you through life stages — I completely missed that “Crooked Little Heart” itself had a sequel, “Imperfect Birds” (2010). That no one has packaged this as “The Chronicles of Rosie” feels like a catalog failure — but also of a piece with Lamott’s rambling career, which has slowly covered the publishing landscape when you weren’t looking, like wisteria.

In a moment of interpersonal crisis, her husband reminds Lamott — with a cup of tea — that she has a diligent “inner critic” determined to keep her “small and worried.” Very probably, she doesn’t need an outer critic, even one who hastens to reassure that she loved the glints of old Lamott here, like pointing out seaside “a species of small octopus in pink chiffon who looks just like Zsa Zsa Gabor.”

More Gabor — I implore! Fewer repeat steepings.

“Operating Instructions” was followed by “ Some Assembly Required ” (2012), a fainter reprise with Lamott’s grandson, Jax. She has seemed to curtsy, titlewise at least, to Elizabeth Gilbert’s blockbuster “Eat, Pray, Love” with “Help, Thanks, Wow” (2012) and “Dusk, Night, Dawn” (2021).

Though Didion wrote a play based on her best seller about grief, “The Year of Magical Thinking,” she mercifully never was given the keys to the platform now known as X. Lamott got in hot water when she misgendered Caitlyn Jenner in 2015. She wrote about this already in “Hallelujah Anyway” (2017) and is still trying to clamber out, fretting in the new book’s title essay about a fund-raiser for a law firm that does pro bono work for L.G.B.T.Q. refugees. (In the next one—“Tweet by Tweet”?—maybe she can soothe Swifties peeved by her exhaustion with the pop star’s ubiquity.)

Slim as it is, “Somehow” is flabby and sometimes cringey, defining love variously as “how hope takes flight”; “a pond or a pool where we teach little kids to swim”; “a bench,” “a root system” and “a windbreaker, fashioned of people who sat and listened and got us tea.”

To be clear, I love Anne Lamott. But when she writes of how a friend with a fatal disease passed gas on a walk, and a visiting rabbi blowing a shofar on a houseboat deck reminded her of the flatulence, one does flash unkindly on the remark David Foster Wallace attributed to a lady of his acquaintance, re: another national treasure, John Updike : “Has the son of a bitch ever had one unpublished thought?”
