  • Avoid emphasising any point when the word count is small. Keep the essay general.

Younger children of class 1 are expected to write an essay with simple facts broken up into several lines. Here is how to write an independence day essay for class 1 in 5 lines:

  • Independence day is celebrated on August 15 every year.
  • Independence day is a national holiday for everyone.
  • It celebrates our country’s freedom after a long struggle and sacrifice.
  • It reminds us of the struggle and bravery of our freedom fighters.
  • We celebrate Independence Day by hoisting the flag and singing the national anthem.

An assignment with a slightly higher challenge for class 1 kids would be an essay on independence day in 100 words. Here is how to write it in 10 lines:

  • India celebrates Independence Day on August 15 every year.
  • India got freedom from British rule on August 15, 1947.
  • On this day, we honour the sacrifice of our freedom fighters.
  • The whole nation celebrates independence by hoisting the national flag.
  • Independence Day is an important national holiday for our country.
  • We have a holiday, but we go to school to attend the flag hoisting ceremony.
  • We sing the national anthem and raise a salute to the tricolour.
  • After celebrating Independence Day at school, we go home and watch the national parade that takes place in the Capital city, on television.
  • Independence Day is also a celebration of our country’s diverse cultures.
  • People show their love for the country by singing patriotic songs, displaying the flag.
  • Schools and housing societies hold cultural events for Independence Day.

As children grow, they are ready for a more challenging assignment. They are expected to write a short essay in the form of a small paragraph. Here is how to write this essay on Independence Day in 150 words:

India celebrates Independence Day on August 15. It is the day we remember the sacrifices made by the brave freedom fighters who struggled for our independence. India got freedom from British rule on this day in 1947. In honour of this day, there is a grand cultural event in the capital city, New Delhi.

The celebrations start with the flag hoisting ceremony and honouring the sacrifice of those who lost their lives in the freedom struggle.

Our colony organises a programme on this day where we dress up in the colours of our flags and perform songs and dances on the stage.

Long essays that are over 300-words-long need some advanced writing skills. Children need to weave facts into a good narrative to make the essay appealing. Here is an example of an essay on Independence Day for class 3:

India got independence on August 15, 1947, after 200 years of British rule. The first Prime Minister, Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru, hoisted the Indian flag at the Red Fort for the first time to celebrate the country’s freedom. Under British colonial rule, India had struggled for decades. The freedom fighters fought against the British rulers, sacrificing their lives for a noble cause.

Independence day is celebrated every year to commemorate the events of the freedom struggle. On this day, we celebrate the rich diversity of our country, and the unity we have among all Indians. The unity of the freedom fighters from all over the country inspires us to live in harmony.

On Independence Day, there are celebrations across the country. People and communities come together to host the national flag and pledge allegiance to it. The country’s largest celebration takes place in the capital, New Delhi. Schools, too, have a special celebration where students sing patriotic songs and attend the flag hoisting ceremony.

Indian soldiers’ army was devastated and Indian farmers were charged heavy taxes on lands. Several farmers died out of hunger and poverty which was very pathetic. India’s population celebrates Independence Day with unmatched grandeur and splendor, much like a festival. In addition, it is a national holiday, so businesses and educational institutions are still closed. Even so, events like raising the flag are frequently held in several locations. The pain and loss that our leaders and fighters endured make independence all the more valuable. Independence is a nation’s and its people’s greatest asset, which is why July 4th has special meaning. Essay on Independence Day in English 300 Words

Introduction.

India’s people commemorate Independence Day every year as the day they finally escaped from the oppression of the British Empire. As the nation attained independence on August 15, 1947, it is observed on that day.

An observation before Independence

Even though India declared its independence on August 15, 1947, few of us are aware that politicians and citizens of India also celebrated Independence Day prior to the country’s formal declaration of independence. At the Indian National Congress meeting in Lahore in 1929, the demand for Purna Swaraj, or complete independence, was the catalyst for everything. The session’s projection for Independence Day was the signing of “The Declaration of the Independence of India” on January 26, 1930.

Events across the Nation

Independence Day is observed by the entire nation as a national holiday and with unmatched fervor and devotion. Indians adore their nation and hold the nation’s independence fighters in the highest regard. The Tricolour, the national flag of India, is flown over all governmental and non-governmental institutions as well as in public spaces like markets. Unless it violates the Flag Code of India, there are no restrictions on flag display. There are school kids marching to the sound of the national anthem being played by a band. At district offices and police grounds, parades by police and paramilitary personnel are also held.

In their respective offices in the state capitals, the Chief Minister and the Governor hoist the National flag. Delhi, the country’s capital, serves as the focal point for the Independence Day festivities. The current prime minister of India accepts the guard of honour from the military after hoisting the flag from Red Fort. He continues by addressing the people of the country and outlining the policy and achievements of the administration.

India’s most important holiday is Independence Day. One of the very few holidays celebrated with joy and fervor by all Indian religious groups is this one. It is a day of great pride for the people of India.

Essay on Independence Day in English 800 Words

The United Kingdom’s parliament passed an act on the day that India gained legislative sovereignty, and that day is recognised as Independence Day in India. The British Parliament granted the Indian Constituent Assembly, which was established to draught the Indian Constitution, complete legislative authority through the Indian Independence Act, which was passed on August 15, 1947. It was the result of a protracted conflict in which the British Empire’s repressions were opposed using the principles of nonviolence and civil disobedience.

Background Information

The British occasionally visited India during the 17th century to express their interest in trading there. The wealth of the kingdoms and the diverse topography of the subcontinent astounded them. They gradually began gaining a foothold in the country by stepping up trade. Here, the “East India Company” came to the fore, which was intended to be a trading company reporting to its board of directors in London; however, East India Company, eyeing the endless wealth opportunities that the subcontinent offered, forcibly occupied powers of the government and judiciary. “Company Rule” refers to the period of Indian history from 1757 to 1858.

The East India Company’s rule in India continued unaltered until the rebellion of 1857, at which point the Government of India Act 1857 transferred power to Queen Victoria. This Act recognised the British Crown as India’s supreme ruler. Political parties and civil societies in India gradually grew stronger in the ensuing decades, calling for self-rule or Swaraj. After a protracted conflict marked by non-cooperation and non-violence, India finally attained independence on August 15, 1947.

The importance of Independence Day

After nearly 200 years of being ruled by the East India company and then the British Crown, the country finally achieved independence. At the hands of the British, it was a time of unethical repression and massive resource exploitation. Kingdoms were forcibly taken over, kings were deposed and punished for no discernible reason, and farmers and small business owners were made vulnerable by the implementation of new tax laws. Every moment the country spent under the Crown had been painful for everyone. Thus, when independence was finally won on August 15, 1947, it was a significant accomplishment and cause for celebration. The significance of the day is determined by the sacrifices made by our countrymen in the fight for independence, as well as by other freedom fighters. The freedom struggle claimed the lives of millions of Indians. The holiday serves as a reminder to honour those who gave their all so that we could live in freedom.

Celebrations of the Independence Day

India observes the day of its independence as a national holiday. People from various religions, castes, and cultures come together to celebrate the day with feelings of nationalism and patriotism. The spirit of the holiday season was evident everywhere in the country, including in homes, offices, schools, and colleges. The national anthem and patriotic music are audible everywhere. On this day, it’s common to see tricolours flapping in all different sizes and shapes.

Celebration at New Delhi

The biggest Independence Day celebrations take place in Delhi, the nation’s capital. The Indian Prime Minister addresses the country via television the evening before Independence Day, wishing the populace well and honouring the freedom fighters. The following day, a large crowd gathered at the Red Fort to see the Prime Minister raise the flag. The national flag is being honoured, and thousands of people from all over the country are there to see what happens next, along with a number of dignitaries. The singing of the national anthem and a 21-gun salute in honour of the prime minister occur simultaneously after raising the flag. The Prime Minister addresses the nation again after the firing of the guns in remembrance of the freedom fighters and their struggles.

Celebrations at Work and in Schools

India celebrates Independence Day with nearly equal fervour and enthusiasm in all of its schools, colleges, and workplaces. Children are more prominently involved in the festivities, and they appear to be at the centre of all the planning. The institution’s leader hoists the national flag in front of the students and other staff members to kick off the festivities. Children themselves organise a variety of competitions, cultural events, and plays in their schools as a reminder of India’s freedom struggle and to honour the great freedom fighters. Children dress up as different freedom fighters and shout well-known Indian independence movement anthems like “Inquilab Zindabad,” “Jai Hind,” and “Vande Matram,” among others. To commemorate the occasion, the school gives out treats to the staff and students.

All private and government organization’s, schools and institutions are celebrating the Day of Freedom. But few are the people who actually understand the true importance of it.

Why Independence Day is so Importance?

Independence Day is the most significant day in the history of India because it reminds us of the bravery and struggle of our freedom fighters. On this day we pay homage to our fighters who fought and gave up their lives for our independence. Since then we are celebrating our Independence Day every year on 15 th August. It is considered a national holiday and all the organisations and institutions hoist the national flag and organise cultural functions across the country.

This day is celebrated to ignite the feeling of nationalism and patriotism across the country. Every citizen has a different viewpoint on Independence. A youngster takes this day to celebrate the glory and strength of the country while for others it’s a reminder of the long suppression and cruelty that our people suffered. It’s not only a celebration of Independence but also of unity with the diverse culture of the country.

How we got our Independence?

For about two centuries the Britishers managed to rule over us. Also, the resident of the nation endured a lot because of these oppressors. British authorities deal with us like slaves until we figure out how to retaliate against them.

We battled for our freedom yet work vigorously and magnanimously under the direction of our pioneers Jawahar Lal Nehru , Subhash Chandra Bose, Mahatma Gandhi, Chandra Shekhar Azad, and Bhagat Singh. A portion of these pioneers picks the way of violence while some picked non-violence. The definitive point of these was to drive out the Britishers from the nation. Furthermore, on the fifteenth of August 1947, the hotly anticipated dream works out as expected.

Activities and Cultural Programs on Independence Day

To celebrate this day a ceremony is held at Red Fort in Delhi in which the Prime Minister and President of the nation address the entire country and hoist the tricolour flag.  After flag hosting, 21 gunshots are fired in honour of the occasion. This is the begging of the main event after that lot of acts and cultural activities are performed to show the diversity in unity and strength of our country. A parade of all the Indian forces takes place.

What is different on 77th Independence Day 2023

Prime Minister Narender Modi has asked the people of India to take the pledge on this Independence Day to fight pandemics and to make India free of them. And to make sure that every citizen works for self-dependent (Atmnirbhar Bharat) India.

A day worth celebrating for which our ancestors have shed their blood and have struggled a lot. But are we truly justifying the struggle and hard work of our freedom fighters? We should rethink it and should work towards the actual freedom of the people of the country by helping them and making them self-dependent and capable enough to support not even themselves but also the country. This Independence Day we should dream of India which is strong and powerful and have the capability to face any problems with unity.

77th Independence Day Short Essay

“One individual may die for an idea, but that idea will, after his death, incarnate itself in a thousand lives”  – Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose

Today we are celebrating our 77th Independence Day. For our country India, several brave hearts have fought for our liberation and gave immeasurable sacrifices. For almost 200 years, the government of the British governed India. Before 1947, the British government oppressed our countrymen a lot. After being tortured, hanged, and captured by the cruel Britishers finally, we got our freedom on 15th of August 1947.

As Vivekananda said that “ This life is a tremendous assertion of freedom “ . Every year we celebrate Independence Day to give tributes to all the freedom fighters who have given their lives for our freedom. For the very 1st time PM Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru hoisted the flag of India and give a speech to all Indians at Red Fort on 15th August. From that day, all schools, colleges, organizations, and every citizen of India celebrates this day.

Initially, India was described as  “Sone ki Chidiya”  due to the excess of resources and minerals found in India. But the British government took away everything by implementing the “Divide and Rule” policy. Freedom Fighters thought that it would have to end, otherwise, our generation will live in slavery in the future too. Freedom fighters like Bhagat Singh, Mahatma Gandhi, Jawaharlal Nehru, etc made sacrifices of their life to provide freedom to us so, now it’s our duty to be responsible citizens.

“Be the change that you want to see in the world” –  Mahatma Gandhi

In India, patriotism is a feeling that comes from the inside. It is necessary for our new generation to know the importance of patriotism, scarifies given by our leaders, freedom fighters and soldiers.

This year celebrate Independence Day at your home and don’t step out of the house without having a valid reason. Don’t forget the hard work and scarifies of our health workers, doctors, and every person who has been working so dedicated to keeping us safe.

“The sword of revolution is sharpened on the whetting stone of ideas”  – Bhagat Singh

15th August And The Indian Independence Day

If you are looking for an ‘essay on independence day 250 words’, then you have arrived at the right spot. Without wasting any more time, let’s dig in!

15th August marks India’s independence day – the day is marked with charitable activities, flag-raising ceremonies, and marches. The day’s beautiful celebrations and ceremonies take place in public buildings, private associations, community centers, companies, universities, and schools.

India’s Prime Minister raises the Indian Flag at the legendary Red Fort, followed by an inspirational speech. The entire ceremony is broadcasted live by Doordarshan on television till date.

Here’s Some Context…

The year was 1947, when India achieved independence from the British monarchy. After struggling for 200 years, India was FINALLY granted independence.

Indian Independence Day

Our very first Prime Minister, Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru, delivered his famous ‘Tryst with Destiny’ speech for the first time at midnight – the spirit of Patriotism was hoisted for the first time during this time  – this speech signaled the end of Britain’s 200-year long rule over us.

“ Long years ago, we made a tryst with destiny, and now the time comes when we shall redeem our pledge, not wholly or in full measure, but very substantially. At the stroke of the midnight hour, when the world sleeps, India will awake to life and freedom… ” Jawaharlal Nehru

75 years have passed since then. Even today, we make it a point to honor the sacrifice, the unmatched achievements, and the selfless efforts of so many great women and men who helped us become free.

Subhash Chandra Bose, Mahatma Gandhi, Gopalbandhu Das, and Sardar Patel are just a handful of names who have received their due respect – during the Indian Independence  movement, so many ordinary people stepped up and did everything they could to make India a free country .

Without the selfless and tireless efforts of freedom fighters, India would have never become free – it’s our duty to remember the contributions of the brave Bhagat Singh, Ram Prasad Bismil, Chandra Shekhar Azad, and Rani Laxmibai.

And the women leaders were no less – in a country dominated by men, so many women had so many contributions to make. Some of the most important names of the freedom movement have to be Mahadevi Verma, Basanti Devi, Savitribai Phule, and Captain Laxmi Sehgal.

You simply can’t forget how so many people were instrumental in ensuring India’s independence.
