Just to be clear though, the late policy is a 10% deduction if it's turned in within 1 week of the due date. It's not a 10% deduction per week. If you turn in your week 1 assignment in week 2, you'll lose 10%. If you turn it in week 3, you'll get a 0% -- not a stacked 20% penalty.
Email your instructor right now, explain your situation, and chances are they will likely grant you an extension for the assignment. Here's the university late policy. 10% off for up to 1 week late. I need to know too. I got all a this term hate to tarnish that but my sanity comes first.
SNHU late policy states that any assignment turned in after the due date is subject to a 10% penalty; after one full week the assignment cannot be turned in. In my experience it's good form to email the instructor letting them know. You may even get lucky and they will offer you more time than just a week, or may even waive the 10% penalty.

I wouldn't count on this happening with every instructor, but either way it's 10 minutes of your time to put together some quick responses. Sooo I may have been too lazy to respond to 2 discussions for one of my classes. I know we get a week to complete a late assignment for -10 points….

Early in the week I'll look over and plan the assignments, gather research, do my discussions, but Sunday from like 4-8 I'll do most of the writing. I've submitted actually late once and I felt very hard-pressed to catch up after that.

In fact I don't recall a time I've gotten a late penalty when I got it in before the prof starts grading. I had one who wouldn't grade until Saturday and as I long as I got it in before then I would get full marks. I had an instructor deduct the 10% for the first time this past term. I submitted right at midnight.
