The Department of English offers a MFA degree in creative writing and a PhD degree in English. The PhD program accepts both students who have completed an MA degree and those who have completed only a BA. The Department offers funding in the form of fellowships and/or teaching assistantships to all students in our PhD program. The nine-month stipend for PhD students is $19,200. We offer a limited number of top-up awards ($5,000-&6,000) and fellowships. All applicants are considered for these opportunities.

The Ph.D. Program. The University of Florida offers the Ph.D. in Linguistics. Research is a significant component of the Ph.D. program and all Ph.D. candidates are expected to develop and carry out an original research project under the supervision of a Ph.D. supervisory committee. The culmination of the project is a dissertation.
