For success in scoring good marks, one needs to know, spelling, vocabulary, support writing skills and communication. So, articles and essay writing prepare you to be a successful person in the future.

Mother is the most selfless person in this world who starts loving her children even before they come into this world. Nothing could be compared to a mother’s love in this world as it is the purest form of love. Mother is like an angel for her child, who always loves her child and supports him/her. For every child, his mother has a special place in his heart because she is the first person the child sees after his birth. This is the reason why a child and a mother have a special bond between them. But not all people are fortunate enough to have mother love in their life due to many reasons. Those who have their mother with them must love and respect her.

Mother is the greatest gift for a child by God. It is the mother who always loves her children without expecting anything from them in return. It won't be wrong to say that women are inherently good mothers, but they realize the power of mother-love when they become a mother. A mother can do anything to protect her child, and she is the primary support of a child. She not only morally supports the child but also prepares her child to be a better person in life.

A mother plays many roles in her child's life from being her child's first friend to a mentor who always guides him/her, and she dedicatedly plays all these roles without complaining or hesitating.

Mother as a Best Friend

A mother is the first best friend of her child who instantly forms a special bond with the child just after his/her birth. She understands all the needs of her children and always tries to fulfill them. My mother is also my best friend. In fact, I can share all my secrets and desires with him. She always understands me and supports me. We play many games together, and our favorite game is Ludo. Many times she happily loses the game so I can win. She knows what I like and always makes me happy by cooking my favorite food. I am fortunate to have my mom as my best friend in my life.

Mother as a Mentor

A mother is not just a first best friend of a child but also his/her mentor who always supports and guides her children to achieve all the success in life. A great mentor is one who always teaches you what is right and what is wrong. A mentor not only supports you but also becomes strict with you when required. And we all can see these traits in our mothers.

My mother is truly my mentor as she not only guides me in every phase of my life but also supports me whenever I need her. When I make any mistake, she becomes strict with me to make me understand my mistake. But soon she showers her love on me and always supports me in my decision. She helps me in my studies and asks me to be serious about my career. She teaches me both cultural and moral values. There cannot be a better mentor than a mother because she knows what is right for you and always prefers the best for you.

Mother as a Caretaker

No one can care for us as a mother does. She selflessly takes care of her child since the day he is born. She knows all the needs of her child and can do anything to fulfill them. She is always there for her children. Whenever we get sick or ill, It is our mother who takes care of us without concern about her health. For a mother, the well being of her children is the utmost important, and she always ensures that her children remain safe and protected wherever they are.

A mother provides all the comfort to her child. It is the mother who makes the home cheerful and safe for children. She is like a superwoman who can manage both household work and her responsibilities towards her children. Talking about my mother, she is adorable and compassionate. She loves all my friends and me. Whenever I get sick, she gets concerned about me. She always takes care of my health and my needs. I love her the most and cannot imagine my life without her.

Mother as a Special Person of Our Life

After God, it is our mother who has the most special place in our hearts and our lives. Since the birth of a child, a mother forms a precious and special bond with him. Without thinking about herself, she thinks about her child and his happiness. She works day and night for her children so that she can make them happy. Motherhood is an integral part of a woman's life, and she selflessly gives her best to it.

A newborn child recognizes her mother from her unique fragrance. And before we start speaking, our mother understands our needs through our actions. This is all because a mother and a child share a special bond, which cannot be described in words. All a mother wants is the betterment of her child and to achieve that, sometimes she supports her child and sometimes becomes strict with him. But her intentions are always pure and honest. She always wants the best for us, and she does everything to give us the best.

When we grow, we want to spend our lives on our terms and in doing so, many times we misunderstand our parents. We become selfish sometimes and fail to understand her love, but she never complains or demands anything from us. All she wants is some respect and love from her child, and every child must provide that to her.

Mother’s love is the purest form of love in this World, and Mother is the greatest blessing for a child by God. As a child, it is our responsibility to value the sacrifice and efforts of our mother because all she wants is the betterment of her child. We are very fortunate to have a mother in our life, and we must respect our mother. We should give her all the happiness and love because she deserves all of that in return for her selfless love for us.

Essays About Your Mom: Top 5 Examples and 5 Prompts

Some of the most important memories in our lives involve our mothers. If you need to write essays about your mom, our guide will help.

A mother is a female parent of a child. Mothers nurture their children throughout childhood and, for many, throughout adulthood as well. The desire to support and protect our children is never ending for many mothers.

Motherhood, however, is not always a genetic role. Many people foster or adopt children or find themselves acting in a parental role for someone else’s children. What matters is the effort you put into a motherly role; for most, the instincts are all there.

It can safely be said that a mom is one of the most significant role models one can have in life and one whose influence continues to inspire. I once read a statement that said, ‘one day, you will realize your Mom is the best friend you will ever have.’ That is certainly true for me, and I hope for many of you.

If you are writing essays about your mom, our essay examples should prove inspiring.

“My mother believes in me, in everything I do, and is always positive about it. Every decision, task, and every level that I concur, my mom is always there, believing in me that I will succeed. Graduating 5th grade and moving up to 6th grade was a big step, just like graduating 8th grade and moving up to 9th grade was. But my mother believed that I would still do well in school and would enjoy it a lot.”

Mckenzie writes about his mother as his greatest influence and inspiration. He reflects on how his mom always makes sure he is well and how she loves the family unconditionally. He also describes her selflessness, as she volunteers for those in need and raises money for charity. Her mother’s love, selflessness, and encouragement inspire Mckenzie to try his best in everything he does, and he is genuinely grateful for her.

“All I can say is thank you for being an amazing mother and all I want for you is to keep doing what makes you happy and brightens your day. Keep creating and going to the beach just to look at the ocean. Keep running, even if it’s not in marathons and don’t forget how awesome of a mother you are. Keep collecting seashells and spreading your positive energy everywhere you go. I love you, Mom.”

Wolf’s essay is addressed to her own mother and is composed of different notes and letters. According to Wolf, her mother is hardworking, optimistic, and devoted, and she recalls several moments they shared. The moments she describes are heartfelt and profound experiences that many can relate to.

“To this day, she wakes up every morning, marches into our living room, and talks with cancer patients on the phone, lending them her empathy and expertise. It’s amazing, and I wanted her to know I saw all that. I wanted her to know I knew she’s always been a badass. I wanted her to know she’s an inspiration to me, a dynamic, courageous, capable, remarkable person I admire and study every day.”

Moore discusses his mother’s life beyond her role in his life. He briefly tells her life story, then writes about her work for a colon cancer foundation. She is always there for her daughter, giving her advice on how to handle difficult situations. Gonzales aspires to be just like her mother in everything she does, especially when raising her own children.

 5. Your Mom Doesn’t Hate You, She’s Just Trying to Help You by Carly Newberg

“I’m not a parent (yet). However, I hope that when I am, I can take what I’ve learned from the obstacles I’ve faced with my mom, to keep the generational progress moving forward. After all, that is one of the beautiful gifts we’re given on Earth; To learn from the mistakes of our loved ones, map out our route accordingly, do our best to get where we are going, and accept the detours along the way knowing those after us will use them to love harder and live wiser.”

In this essay, Newberg discusses a phenomenon we are all too familiar with: mothers arguing with us. She explains that despite their seemingly curtailing actions, mothers always want what is best for us and are even struggling with whether their decisions are correct. Newberg suggests that we should be understanding of our mothers and use these experiences as lessons for how to parent in the future.

Essays About Your Mom: The best memory of your mom

For your essay, reflect on an experience with your mom that you treasure. Perhaps it is a birthday celebration, a trip out of town, or simply a conversation you had. Describe the events that transpired, how they made you feel, and why you treasure them as you do. Also, consider if your perception of this event has changed. Perhaps it has taught you more than you first thought.

One of a mother’s primary roles is to teach her children essential skills and lessons to prepare them for the future. Think about one or more things your mom taught you, whether life skills, values, or otherwise. You can be as general or in-depth as you want regarding what you’ve learned from your mom, but be sure to explain it adequately.

For an interesting essay topic, write about a quality of your mom’s that you seek to emulate- her patience, kindness, or fortitude. Discuss why you have chosen it, how it is essential to who your mom is, and how you hope to use it in the future.

Essays About Your Mom: Your mom as a role model

Mothers are role models to everyone, not only their kids but also to others they interact with daily. In your essay, you can reflect on a time your mom did something truly admirable that cemented her position as your role model. As with the other essays, describe the events, what you learned, and why you chose this. You may also comment on how it has shaped you as a prospective or active parent. Discuss any aspects of parenthood you would like to emulate and those you would not!

This essay topic may seem simple, but one can learn much about a person from a simple biography and reflection. Give readers a general idea of what your mom does, her role in your life, and how she has made you who you are today; paint a picture of this fantastic woman and why she is so important. You can include something about her background and note how it has influenced her, making her the mom she is. Also, you may consider whether any of her inherited traits have been passed to you.

500 Words Essay on Mothers love

The essence of a mother’s love.

A mother’s love is a profound and multifaceted concept, universally acknowledged as one of the most powerful forces in existence. This love is not only biological but transcends the boundaries of reason and logic, reaching into the realm of the inexplicable and the extraordinary.

The Biological Bond

A mother’s love begins even before birth. As the fetus grows within the womb, a bond is formed that is primarily biological, yet it serves as the foundation for the emotional connection that will develop over time. This bond is not merely a product of shared genetic material but is fostered through the physical connection that exists between a mother and her unborn child.

Unconditional Love

The love of a mother for her child is often described as unconditional. This means that it does not depend on the child’s behavior, achievements, or qualities. It is a love that is constant and unwavering, regardless of circumstances. This unconditional aspect of a mother’s love can be seen as an evolutionary trait, ensuring the survival and well-being of offspring. Yet, it also carries a profound emotional and psychological significance, providing the child with a sense of security and self-worth that can be foundational to their development.

Love as Sacrifice

Another dimension of a mother’s love is the aspect of sacrifice. Mothers often put their children’s needs before their own, willing to make great sacrifices for their well-being. This can range from the physical sacrifice of pregnancy and childbirth to the ongoing sacrifices made in raising a child, such as giving up personal time, career opportunities, or even aspects of their own identity.

Nurturing Growth

Mothers also play a crucial role in nurturing their children’s growth and development. Through their love, they provide the emotional, psychological, and physical support that children need to grow and thrive. This nurturing aspect of a mother’s love can be seen in everything from providing nourishment and care in early infancy to guiding a child through the challenges of adolescence and beyond.

Love’s Enduring Impact

The impact of a mother’s love is not limited to childhood but extends into adulthood. The love and support received from a mother can shape a person’s self-esteem, resilience, and capacity for empathy. It can influence their relationships, their approach to challenges, and their overall outlook on life.

In conclusion, a mother’s love is a complex and powerful force, encompassing biological connection, unconditional acceptance, sacrifice, nurturing, and enduring impact. It is a fundamental aspect of human experience, shaping us in profound ways and influencing who we become. The understanding of this love is not only crucial for appreciating the role of mothers in our lives but also for recognizing the deep bonds that connect us as human beings.

The Essence of a Mother’s Love: Quotes and Sayings

To begin, let us wander through a garden of words that reflect the myriad facets of a mother’s love:

  • “A mother’s love is everything. It is what brings a child into this world. It is what molds their entire being. When a mother sees her child in danger, she is literally capable of anything. Mothers have lifted cars off of their children and destroyed entire dynasties. A mother’s love is the strongest energy known to man.” – Jamie McGuire

  • “Motherhood: All love begins and ends there.” – Robert Browning
  • “The natural state of motherhood is unselfishness.” – Jessica Lange
  • “To describe my mother would be to write about a hurricane in its perfect power.” – Maya Angelou

These sayings not only illustrate the depth and complexity of a mother’s love but also highlight its universal and timeless nature. Across cultures and generations, the essence of maternal love remains unchanged – an unyielding, protective, nurturing force.

What Does a Mother’s Love Mean?

A mother’s love is multifaceted. It encompasses the fierce protection of a lioness, the gentle guidance of a teacher, and the unconditional love of a true friend. It means being a caregiver, a confidant, and, most importantly, a constant presence. It’s a love that knows no bounds, a love that sacrifices without expectation, and a love that endures the toughest of trials.

This love is not just emotional or psychological; it’s physical, mental, and spiritual. From the physical pain of childbirth to the emotional journey of raising a child and the constant concern for a child’s wellbeing, a mother’s love is an all-encompassing force that shapes the fabric of our being.

My Mother Essay

Mother is the foundation of a family. Mother is the one who brought us to see this beautiful world. It's a single word with thousands of emotions. Mother is called by different names in different languages like Maa in Hindi and Bengali, Amma in Tamil and Malayalam, Bha in Gujarati, Aaiy in Marathi, Talli in Telugu, Thayi in Kannada. Here are a few sample essays on "my mother".

100 Words Essay on My Mother

200 words essay on my mother, 500 words essay on my mother, my role model.

  • The Greatness of Mother's Love

My Mother Essay

My mother is a very important person and an inspiration in my life. She is the world to me. She is my first teacher. Every good habit I have is just because of her teachings. My mother is my constant motivator. Whenever I fail to perform, she is alone to stand and encourage me.

Whenever I am lost, my mother is the only one to bring me to the right path. There are situations where she is not physically present to guide, but her teachings always act as a guiding light. It is well said that "Life doesn't come with a manual; it comes with a mother." I wonder how appropriate this line is! When a child is born, it's the mother who understands the most about what to teach to her child and what not.

"God couldn't be everywhere, so he created mothers." A mother is a person whom the child knows from the womb itself. Nobody on this Earth knows a child better than their mother. Everybody on this Earth can harm a child except the mother. She knows what, when, why, how, and everything about her child. A mother can play all the roles of a child, from being a feeder to being a superhero. Nothing is challenging for her. Home is never a home where there is no mother.

Mother: Creation of God

She is the most beautiful creation of God. It is said that if a child doesn't have a father, the mother can do anything for the survival of her children, but if a child doesn't have a mother, life never remains easy for the child. Only a mother gives selfless love to her child; she can sleep hungry but never let her child sleep hungry.

My mother is my superhero. I always get surprised to see her being the first one to wake in the morning and the last one to sleep in the night, still with the same smile and zero complaints. How can a person remain so cheerful throughout? She is the one to teach that, however hard it may be, the day there will always be a beautiful morning waiting for you when you open your eyes.

Mother is the one who plays and handles all her relationships well, from being a daughter herself, being a sister, being a wife, being a daughter-in-law, being a sister-in-law to being a mother and then grandmother. We keep growing up throughout but for a mother, a child is always a child, regardless of age you become. She is the most powerful creature in this Universe. She can be a gentle wind, and at the same time, she can be a cyclone to a hurricane if someone tries to harm her child.

My mother is my inspiration and my role model. I believe nobody in this world can understand me more than her. She can read through and figure out what's going on in my mind. How can someone be so exact in reading someone's mind? She gets up at 5 a.m in the morning and prepares breakfast and lunch, never forgetting about anybody's choices. She then packs it for everybody on it. When we return, we see her working and arranging things with the same enthusiasm and smile she had in the morning. I again wonder how someone can be without complaining about something. I see her always having a solution handy to almost all the problems that we share with her.

"Mother's love is the fuel that boosts your willingness."

The Greatness of Mother's Love

There is a famous story about Albert Einstein's mother. It was said that Albert was not able to read when he was in elementary school. So one fine day, a teacher sends a note to his mother that they would not be able to teach her child as her child was too dumb to teach anything. Tears began rolling in her eyes when she read it to her son. She read that since her child was so smart, the teachers would no longer be able to teach him. Then she bought books for him and started teaching him all by herself, and today everything is history. Only a mother can give wings to her child's dreams.

We have often seen children sending their aged mothers to old age homes but have never seen a mother sending her child to an orphanage. It is very painful to see such people sending their source of existence to suffer till they live. We have seen mothers leaving their well-paid jobs to see their children grow, to teach good things to their children. Nobody on this Earth can ever repay a mother's sacrifice, however rich they may become.

My Mother: My Hero

My mother is my bundle of joy, the first person I search for when I enter the house is my mother. She will smile and then scold me for shouting and disturbing the entire house. Patience level of my mother is a blessing from the divine; she is always very calm and composed. My mother is often very strict, which is obviously for my good. She would not let me use my mobile phone and laptop for too long as it would affect me. She teaches me to be kind to others. I want to become a superhuman like my mother. "Mother is the most beautiful flower on this Earth; each is unique and holds a different fragrance."

How to Write a 5 Paragraph Essay About My Mother

Writing about someone close to you, such as your mother, can be a meaningful and rewarding experience. One of the best ways to structure your writing is to use the 5-paragraph essay format.

In this guide, we’ll walk you through the steps of writing a 5-paragraph essay about your mother, with detailed examples and lists to help you along the way.

Introduction

The introduction is your chance to hook your reader and provide a preview of what’s to come in your essay. Here are some tips for crafting a strong opening paragraph about mother :

  • Start with a strong opening sentence that grabs your reader’s attention. For example, you could begin with a quote about mothers or an anecdote that illustrates your relationship with your mom.
  • Provide some background information about your mother, such as her name, age, occupation, and any other relevant details to your essay.
  • Explain why you’ve chosen to write about your mother and what makes her so unique to you. This will help your reader understand the significance of your essay.
  • Finally, give a brief overview of the structure of your essay. Tell your reader what they can expect to learn from your writing and how you’ll be organizing your thoughts.

The First Paragraph

The first body paragraph of your essay should introduce your topic (your mother) and provide a thesis statement that ties your focus/theme to your mother’s significance in your life. Here are some things to keep in mind:

  • Start with a sentence introducing your mother and explaining why she is important to you. For example, you could say, “My mother is the most important person in my life because she has always been there for me, no matter what.”
  • Provide some background information about your mother, such as her age, occupation, and any other relevant details.
  • Explain the focus/theme of your essay. This could be anything from your mother’s resilience in adversity to her impact on your personal growth and development.
  • Finally, provide a clear and concise thesis statement that ties your focus/theme to your mother’s significance in your life. For example, your thesis statement could be, “My mother’s unwavering support has been the driving force behind my success.”

The Second Paragraph

The second paragraph of your essay should provide examples and anecdotes that support the focus/theme you introduced in the first paragraph. Here’s how to do it:

  • Start by introducing the specific example or anecdote you’ll be sharing. For instance, you could say, “One of the best examples of my mother’s support came when I was struggling in school.”
  • Share the details of the example or anecdote. This could include specific conversations with your mother, her actions to support you, or challenges you overcame together.
  • Analyze the impact of your mother’s actions on your life. How did her support make a difference for you? What did you learn from the experience? How did it strengthen your relationship with your mother?
  • Tie your analysis back to your thesis statement. Make it clear how this example or anecdote supports your focus/theme and your overall argument.

The Third Paragraph

The third paragraph of your essay should continue to explore the impact of your mother’s actions on your life. Here are some tips for writing this section:

  • Start by introducing a new example or anecdote that supports your focus/theme. For instance, you could talk about how your mother helped you through a difficult time.
  • Provide details about the example or anecdote, just as you did in the previous paragraph.
  • Analyze the impact of your mother’s actions on your life. What did you learn from this experience? How did it shape who you are today?
  • Again, tie your analysis back to your thesis statement. Make it clear how this example or anecdote supports your overall argument.

The Fourth Paragraph

The fourth paragraph of your essay should provide a counterargument or opposing viewpoint. Here’s how to do it:

  • Start by acknowledging that there may be other perspectives on your mother’s impact on your life. For example, you could say something like “While my mother has had an overwhelmingly positive impact on my life, I know that not everyone has had the same experience.”
  • Introduce a counterargument or opposing viewpoint. This could be something like “Some people might argue that a mother’s impact on her child is overstated and that other factors, such as genetics or upbringing, are more important.”
  • Analyze the counterargument or opposing viewpoint. Explain why you disagree with this perspective and provide evidence to support your argument. This could include personal anecdotes, statistics, or expert opinions.
  • Finally, tie your analysis back to your thesis statement. Make it clear how your counterargument supports your overall argument and reinforces the importance of your mother’s impact on your life.

The Fifth Paragraph

Your essay’s fifth and final paragraph should summarize your main points and provide a conclusion. Here’s how to do it:

  • Start by summarizing the key points you’ve made in your essay. Remind your reader of your focus/theme, thesis statement, and the examples and anecdotes you’ve shared.
  • Provide a final analysis of your mother’s impact on your life. Explain why she is so important to you and what you’ve learned from your experiences with her.
  • End with a firm conclusion. This could be a call to action, a personal reflection, or a final thought that ties everything together. For example, you could end with something like, “My mother will always be my role model and inspiration. I hope I can be as supportive and loving as she has always been to me someday.”

Example essay about my mother

My mother is the most important person in my life. She has been there for me through thick and thin, always supporting and encouraging me to be the best I can be. Her unwavering love and dedication have been a constant source of strength for me, and I am forever grateful for everything she has done for me. Firstly, my mother is the epitome of selflessness. She always puts the needs of others before her own, and she never complains about it. Whether it is cooking my favorite meal or staying up all night to help me with my homework, she never hesitates to go the extra mile to ensure I am happy and well taken care of. My mother is sage and insightful. She has a wealth of life experience and a deep understanding of human nature, and she has always been there to offer me sage advice whenever I need it. Her words of wisdom have helped me navigate many difficult situations and have given me the tools to face any challenge that comes my way. I believe that my mother is the embodiment of hard work and perseverance. She has always been a role model for me when it comes to putting in the effort to achieve one’s goals. Watching her work tirelessly day in and day out to provide for our family has taught me the value of hard work and the importance of never giving up. Also, my mother has a great sense of humor and an infectious zest for life. Even in the most challenging of times, she always finds a way to make me laugh and to see the bright side of things. Her positive attitude and sunny disposition have taught me the importance of looking on the bright side and never giving up hope. In conclusion, my mother is the most amazing person that I know. Her selflessness, wisdom, hard work, and sense of humor have impacted my life immeasurable, and I am so grateful for everything she has done for me. I hope that one day I can be half the person that she is, and that I can make her as proud of me as I am of her.

Example 2: A Portrait of Strength and Love: My Mother

In the tapestry of my life, there is one thread that shines brighter than all others – the unwavering presence of my mother. She is not just a figure in my life; she is the cornerstone, the guiding light, and the epitome of love and strength. In this essay, I aim to paint a vivid portrait of the woman who has shaped me into who I am today. Body: My mother’s love knows no bounds. It is a force of nature, gentle yet unyielding, like the steady flow of a river that nourishes all in its path. From the moment I came into this world, she cradled me in her arms, her touch a soothing balm that could heal any wound, physical or emotional. Her love is not confined to mere words; it is expressed through her actions, through the countless sacrifices she has made for our family. One of the most remarkable traits of my mother is her boundless strength. She has weathered storms that would have broken lesser souls, yet she emerged from the tempest stronger than ever. I have seen her face adversity with grace and courage, never once faltering in her resolve. She is the backbone of our family, the one we turn to in times of need, knowing that her strength will carry us through even the darkest of days. But my mother is not just a beacon of strength; she is also a source of wisdom and guidance. Her words are infused with a depth of knowledge that can only come from a life well-lived. Whenever I am faced with a difficult decision or grappling with uncertainty, I know that I can turn to her for counsel, and she will always steer me in the right direction. Despite the many roles she juggles – mother, wife, daughter, friend – my mother always finds time to nurture her passions and pursue her dreams. Whether it’s tending to her garden, losing herself in a good book, or simply enjoying a quiet moment of reflection, she reminds me of the importance of self-care and staying true to oneself. Conclusion: In the tapestry of my life, my mother is the brightest thread, the one that adds color and meaning to the fabric of my existence. She is my rock, my confidante, and my greatest source of inspiration. As I navigate the journey of life, I am grateful to have her by my side, guiding me with her love, wisdom, and unwavering strength. My mother is not just a woman; she is a force of nature, and I am blessed to call her mine.

I always wonder how my mother manages this all alone without putting any burden on me and always behaves like a calm person. She used to take certain vocational classes of many ladies in batch slots and helps many of the ladies who are interested but unable to afford the class fees. My Mother Essay 500 Words

We all know that the place of the Mother is at the top as she is more valuable than God. She is the most important and special person in everyone’s life. In fact, we can say that a mother is the most precious gift of God for anyone. Mother is the first teacher for every child from which a baby can learn respect and caring, learn to speak, and a child can see the world only because of a mother. She can be a friend, parent, guardian, caretaker, and teacher in her life for their child also, she takes the responsibility to run a family and make the home as beautiful as heaven. Her smile illuminates the entire home with her presence, affection, and love. Every human being or living creature has a special and emotional attachment to their mother. For all the babies in this world, the safest and most relaxing place is their mother’s lap.

A mother holds the entire responsibility of her family and the happiness of the people living in the house. She helps and takes care of everyone, whether they are elders, kids, or grandparents. She is so delightful and helpful that she is always ready to help her neighbors and friends when needed. Her love is unconditional and pure for everyone in her family. She never stepped back from her responsibilities and always takes care of the house without objecting by saying a single word. Many mothers are multifunctional as they take care of their house and run a business or do some other activities. She has a wonderful capacity to face the challenges in her life and a way to make them into opportunities. They have the ability to manage the obstacles that come in her path of handling the business and caring for the house. She surprises everyone with her skills. She is very good at multitasking, and she can handle it gently without any hesitation.

The nature of the mother is incomparable in this world she always loves their loved ones unconditionally without any returnable expectations. A mother is not just a simple word. It is a whole universe itself. A famous writer once said, “God could not be present everywhere for everyone. Therefore, they created mothers.” A house is not like a house with an absence of a mother, and a family is always imperfect and incomplete without her.

Genuinely, no one can define the meaning of the word ‘Mother.’ We all get a holiday every year on holidays weekends, but a mother has no holidays, no weekends, and works continuously throughout the year without a single leave, even when she feels ill. She never demands anything in return for her work and care. She possesses many qualities that make her an idol of care and love. She always forgives her loved ones for their mistakes and always tries to correct our faults with some strict measures to realize our mistakes and understand our responsibilities. She always sacrifices something to make their children responsible person in their life and achieve success and further a comfortable life. She is a selfless Human Being, and we must have to respect her.

woman holding child mothers day messages

1. Thank you again for [something your mom did recently to help you.] As if I needed more proof that you’re good at this mothering thing, you keep showing me. Thank you for always being there.

2. Since becoming a mother, I am even more grateful for the example you set for me. I know you told me not to compare my mothering to yours, but I can’t help asking myself, several times a day, “What would Mom do?”

3. Every time I see a mother with her kids in public, I usually identify with the troublemaker. And I’m always grateful when the mother is as patient as you were with me.

4. I was picking out fresh roses the other day and found one in the same exact color as [something you remember your mom wearing — e.g., bathrobe, etc.]. So, I renamed it “Mom’s [bathrobe, etc.],” and every time I look at it, I have to smell it. Apparently, that’s where the similarity ends. Love you, Mom.

5. Watching you with your grandkids the other day made me remember how much I loved visiting my/our grandparents, and how much I wished we could live with them. Living close enough to visit you is a nice compromise — and a priceless gift to my kids.

6. Growing up, I knew I could trust you with any secret, though I also knew you had to keep some from me. I miss being able to tell you anything, but whatever we’re not saying to each other, I think of you every day.

7. I couldn’t help comparing other moms to you while I was growing up. And, though I don’t blame them for this, every one of them fell short. You’re still the gold standard of motherhood to me. You weren’t perfect, but you were just the mother I needed .

Mother’s Day Paragraphs for Sister

Finding the right words to say Happy Mother’s Day to your sister has its own unique challenges.

8. I love watching you with your kids and thinking how much nicer you are to them than you were to your dolls.

As soon as they’re out, all we want to do is hold them and give them all the kisses we couldn’t give them while they were undercover. Watching you with your kids reminds me of why I love being a mom — and how lucky I am to have you for my sis.

10. Thank you for giving me [nieces and/or nephews]. Watching them reminds me of how we were as kids. If it helps, so does watching mine.

11. Your kids remind me so much of you, and I get homesick for when we were kids. I wish I’d been as good a sister/brother/sibling to you as you are a mom to them.

12. Your intuitive responses to your kids leave me in awe. You don’t let other people’s criticism stop you from taking your kids’ feelings and instincts to heart and doing what you believe is best for them. You’re not trying to be “supermom” or a saint; you’re just doing everything you can to be the mom your kids need. And I love you for it.

13. I see your beautiful son/daughter/kids, and I raise you a glass. And now I’m filling the glass with something good and drinking it in your honor. You’re welcome to join me.

Heartfelt Sentiments To Write In A Letter To Daughter

Paragraphs for Mother's Day for Your Daughter

If your daughter is a mother, and watching her with her kids makes your heart feel all gooey inside, of course, you want her to know she’s doing great and that you’ll always be there for her. Reach out and warm her heart with one of the following paragraphs.

15. I watch you with your kids and think, “Those parenting books I read were useless.” I almost wish I could have learned from watching you with your kids before I had you. Almost. You set the bar pretty high.

16. I love the connection you have with your son/daughter/kids. It’s as though you can read each other’s minds. I see in them everything I loved about you at that age, and I worry that they’ll have a rough time of it, too. I also hope they grow the way you have.

17. I hope you can forgive me for every moment I’ve failed you as a mother — every time I put you off and paid more attention to something less important. I also hope you forgive yourself if you’re not always the mother you want to be for your kids. All we can do is our best — one moment at a time. And I see your love and determination to do just that.

18. Your kids are blessed to have you as their mother. I say this not just because you’re my daughter, and I’m proud of you — though I am — but because I see in you the mother I wish I’d been and the kind of mother this world needs more of.

19. You’ve made me into the mother I wanted to be for you. I know I was far from perfect, but I wouldn’t even be as awesome as I am if you hadn’t been my daughter. And now that you’re a mother, too, you’ll find out (if you haven’t already) exactly what I mean. The person I became as your mom is the best person I’ve ever been. And she’s available for babysitting (as well as coffee runs and wine-o-clock chats).

mother and daughther, Mother's Day Paragraphs

20. Dear Daughter, I can’t help thinking of you whenever Mother’s Day rolls around, and I always picture you with a baby in your arms or with one of their small hands in yours. I’ve pictured you like this since long before you became a mother because you’ve always had the heart of one — loving, resourceful, and compassionate. And I hope you pass that on to your kids.

21. My daughter is a mother, and I’m amazed by the strength I see in you. I knew it was there, but I hadn’t seen it as clearly as when you grabbed that doctor of yours by his jacket and said, “If you tell me to calm down one more time, I’m gonna pull something out of you, too!” (Okay, so maybe you didn’t actually say that to him, but I saw the look on your face. A mother knows.)

Mother’s Day Paragraph to Girlfriend

If you have a girlfriend who is a mother, we hope the following paragraphs inspire you as you write your Mother’s Day greetings to her. Think of words of encouragement you know she'd love to hear from her special person.

22. It’s so weird watching you with your kids and thinking, “Whoa! Was she always like this?” Becoming a mom has made you a force to be reckoned with. Happy Mother's Day my love.

23. Babe, I had no idea you were such a badass until I saw you holding a baby on one hip and unfolding a stroller with the other hand while ordering a red eye for pick-up with your Bluetooth earpiece. I can’t even walk straight while listening to music. I can't wait to celebrate you this Mother's Day.

24. You look even hotter as a mom. Seeing the love and tenderness you show to [child's name] reminds me what a beautiful, amazing woman you are. I'm so lucky to have both of you in my life. I celebrate you every day — not just on Mother's Day.

25. You look amazing and so beautiful. Your pre-baby bod was stunning, but if it's possible, your post-baby body is even better. Maybe because I know what it took for you to give birth and how strong you were. You are my inspiration as a parent, partner, and all-around extraordinary person. I love you, babe. Happy Mother's Day!

26. Whatever you do as a mother, don’t you dare beat yourself up over not being on top of things all the time. No one is. It takes a lot of energy to be the mom you want to be 24/7. You amaze me with your strength and positive attitude , even when you're feeling blue. Just remember that when you’re feeling overwhelmed, I'm always here for you, sweetie. I love your kids, and I love you beyond words.

Happy Mother’s Day Paragraph to Grandma

A Mother’s Day paragraph for your grandma might be very similar to the one you write for your mom — or it might not.

The important takeaway is your gratitude for her being the mother and grandmother she’s been over the years. She may not have been perfect, but she’s irreplaceable.

27. I miss your hugs when you’re not here. I also miss your baking and the chocolate stars you’d tuck into my hand when we had to leave for home. Grandmas don’t get any better than you.

28. No matter how angry I was about something, you always managed to help me calm down by looking at things from a different perspective. You’re probably the reason my mom is so chill when I do stupid things. I’ve seen you two talking about me . And I couldn’t be more grateful.

29. The stories you’ve told me about growing up make me wish I’d grown up with you. But then you wouldn’t be my grandma, and that is NOT a fair trade-off.

30. I’ve seen pictures of you holding me when I was a baby, and you’re looking at me like I’m the baby Jesus but with cuter clothes. Every kid should have a grandma who looks at them that way.

31. I hope you don’t mind that I sometimes told you things I hadn’t yet told Mom — to see how you’d react and whether it was a good idea to tell her the same thing. You were my safe place. And since you’d been through a lot of the same things with her [or with Dad] already, I knew you’d handle my news better than anyone. I’m a happier person today because you dared me to risk rejection and failure and to see both as part of the growth process. If only everyone had a grandma like you!

What to Say for Mother's Day

It doesn't have to be hard to think of things to write for Mother's Day. If you’re a parent yourself, what kind of Mother's Day paragraph would you want to receive in a card or letter? Use those ideas to help you write your note to the mothers in your life.

Words of appreciation, support, and encouragement are healing and can even be transformative. Make Mother’s Day a day for ensuring the mothers in your life feel loved and valued for everything they are, as well as everything they do.

You don’t have to sound like a poet or a sage. Your mother wants to hear you in your own words, however inadequate the words may sound to you.

It’s Weird Times to Be a Happy Mother

Some reasons why i’ll rarely admit this in public..

I recently published a book about caregiving that is, in part, a rigorously researched explanation of why I love motherhood, despite living in a country that gives parents so little support. One might imagine that constructing and then promoting my arguments as to why caring for others can be meaningful and emotionally enriching, even when it’s challenging, may have led me to feel comfortable saying I like being a mom in casual social settings. It hasn’t. When I am with friends or acquaintances, or connecting with others online, the admission gets stuck in my throat, where it remains with all the other things that are better left unsaid.

It’s a feeling that traces all the way back to the time when my first son was born. I became a mom in 2012, which I unscientifically suspect was right around the time negative messages about motherhood became more common than positive ones. Or at least it certainly felt like this, in the liberal, largely coastal circles I inhabited online and in real life. To voice any delight about my relationship with my son felt a mix of tone-deaf, out of style, and potentially alienating to others.

Over a decade into motherhood, I now see that there are concentric circles to my hesitation to voice positive feelings, layers of potential relational, political, and personal harm I would fear I would unleash if I came clean. I worry about making others who struggle with motherhood feel bad; I worry about undermining the fight to get mothers and other caregivers more systemic support; I worry about turning back the clock on feminism; and I worry about outing myself as sentimental, and therefore intellectually unserious and uncool. Making it all the harder is that this fear doesn’t feel like a product of my tendency to second-guess things, but rather pretty realistic.

When You Care: The Unexpected Magic of Caring for Others

The relational piece is the most immediate. When a close friend admits to me that she is struggling with motherhood, the feeling tends to come coated with a heavy dose of physical and emotional exhaustion, shame, maybe even regret. For so long, motherhood was locked up in easy metaphors of goodliness and saintliness. To deviate from this one-note portrayal and refuse to meet unrealistic expectations, to not want to be endlessly giving and enthusiastic about it, was, in this formula, to be a bad person. Ambivalence about either one’s children, or about how motherhood changes the way one can experience the world, was not seen as a healthy part of a huge life undertaking, but a sign that one was not dedicated enough. Even though we have let go of these simplified and unrealistic definitions of a “good mom,” particularly in online discourse, those old-fashioned notions can still get under the skin for those having a hard time. To be in that state, and to hear that I am loving motherhood—a matter of personal disposition as much as it is luck in having children with milder temperaments—might, very understandably, only make things worse.

On a more public level, I fear that me, or anyone, saying I like motherhood, even though it can be tough, has the potential to undermine political efforts to get necessary and overdue support for parents from the government and workplaces. In our current system, moms are suffering because they are moms, which makes managing a job or affording a (not terribly indulgent!) life pretty difficult. For those in the laptop class, they may have scheduling flexibility at work, but that tends to come with an expectation to always be available. Or, for those who work onsite, there is often little flexibility and, too often, very little advance notice of weekly schedules, giving moms a tight 24 hours to figure out caregiving support for the week. We lack universal paid leave, we lack universal and affordable child care and elder care—a one-two punch for all those sandwich-generation parents out there. To say you are having a good time can feel like you are dismissing all the unnecessary suffering that moms experience in the United States because of a lack of societal support. Inversely, to complain about being emotionally spent has become a message of solidarity, a protest chant against everything that makes life so impossible for moms.

Cutting deeper than the threat to pro-mom activism is the threat to feminism. So much of late-20 th -century feminism—though, as I learned when researching my book, mostly white feminism—was about allowing women to have other identities outside of motherhood. To insist on motherhood as a path to meaning, purpose, let alone joy, can feel like I am doing the bidding of conservative forces in our culture, who don’t just advocate for embracing motherhood, but a return to a patriarchal domestic structure in which Dad is on top. What I’d like to do is see what embracing care could look like outside the patriarchy, to look inside the homes women like Betty Friedan encouraged us to escape, and see what is worth appreciating there. With the erosion of reproductive rights and the new popularity of tradwives on social media, pointing out all that is worth celebrating in motherhood can feel dangerous, for people with my politics. And yet, if we don’t do it, what vision of feminism are we promoting for the next generation? Another one in which care is sidelined, marginalized—left to underpaid working-class women, mostly women of color, while wealthier, mostly white women leave the home and do the big, important stuff? I don’t want that either—and yet, still, how to express this?

This disquiet lingers even in solitude, particularly when I am reading smart writing by a smart woman in which motherhood is presented as something that limits or subtracts. It’s not that I have a problem with them feeling that way, or writing about it. I don’t expect anyone to feel the same as I do about this relationship or any of my other relationships, including my relationship with my parents or my husband. The problem isn’t that I feel unseen, so much as I often detect an unspoken assessment that intelligence and motherhood are incompatible. Or, as is the case in many fictional portraits of maternal ambivalence, a feeling that being honest about one’s desires and seeking them out can’t happen in the context of caring for one’s kids. To like motherhood makes me dumb and repressed, I temporarily conclude, cheeks on fire even though nobody is watching.

Because, even when I believe loving motherhood makes me tragically unhip, or when I hesitate to discuss my experience with it with others, my affection for it never wavers. This is the point in the essay when I tell you why. I, like so many women, went into motherhood with a defensive posture. I had no ambivalence about becoming a mom, and am fortunate enough to have a pretty easy time connecting with my children. My big fear was not exactly the act of parenting itself, but how becoming a parent would stop me from living an otherwise interesting and meaningful life.

As it happened, my relationship with my kids has been as philosophically, spiritually, or intellectually vital as anything else I’ve done, leading to the kind of realizations we’ve long wanted to seek elsewhere, away from the home, away from the family. Through them, I’ve cultivated a healthy relationship with uncertainty, with attention, with  feeling closer to the source of life, whatever it is, with all its wonder and fragility—all moments of revelation that came by way of a mix of stress, rupture, wholeness, and ease. If I had let motherhood stay small, confined to the sidelines, then those stressful moments would have felt like forces holding me back on my way to an interesting and meaningful life. But by letting motherhood become big, those challenges—and yes, my kids annoy me sometimes, and yes, I appreciate working and other time I spend away from them—became part of a larger narrative arc.

I really do want to be able to say all this in the company of others—and not just in writing but during unscripted, person-to-person exchanges. While I am so glad moms feel liberated to talk about the hard parts of parenting, I worry that only talking about the hard parts make it so the experience of taking care of our children is kept small, devalued, something not worthy of our curiosity, nor our collective investment. I often long for a whole new language, a whole new vocabulary and even context for discussing motherhood, but I haven’t figured it out yet. Whereas once, we diminished motherhood by easy praise, we now often diminish it with easy complaint. Is there a way to think more expansively and holistically in our conversations about motherhood? To be open to the ways in which the good and the bad are not oppositional, but essential, inevitable parts of a rich, friction-filled experience we may not always like but can love and grow from? I’m still working on it.

If you're a fan of words of affirmation, here are some quotes to share – or write on a card – this Mother's Day.

Mother and children walking in autumnal woodland

A letter to my kids: sometimes, my love for you must feel conditional but on Mother’s Day, let me say that I love you

Ranjana Srivastava

In terms of self-sacrifice, I do far less than my mother (your Nanima) did for me

“Why don’t you ever say, ‘I love you’ to Nanima?”, you used to ask.

“I am Indian! I take my mum to the temple instead.”

By now, you have given up. When seeing your grandma out the door, you say in unison, “I love you, Nanima” (a little louder when I am within earshot). And I typically add, “make sure you go the gym” or “call the physio”. How your sweet words must nestle inside her heart as she walks away to my exhortations.

I have been in my mother’s life for nearly 50 of her 75 years. When I was a brand new mother and brand new oncologist, eager to succeed in both places, I too felt the poet Adrienne Rich ’s description of motherhood as “a sense of insufficiency to the moment and to eternity”. When I was with patients, I thought about you. When I was with you, I thought about my patients.

My parents moved to Melbourne where my father re-entered academia and my mother reconfigured my life with a devotion and patience God only granted grandparents. But long before she scooped you into her capable arms, my mother had more than fulfilled her duty to me through two profound gestures.

The first was self-sacrifice. Abandoning dreams of a career may have been in keeping with her era, but my mother threw herself into motherhood. I was the kid with the crispest shirts, the best-pleated skirts, the smoothest plaits and the shiniest shoes. I don’t know why the Carmelite nuns thought that an all-white uniform was a good idea in monsoonal India, but my tennis shoes sparkled thanks to the paint she dabbed when I slept. At lunch, my friends flocked around my lunch, the tastiest with enough to spare.

My brother and I left home around age 16 for a better education. My father was immersed in work and suddenly, our big house fell empty. Many years later, my mother described going listlessly about her day and suddenly howling at the walls from sheer loneliness. She feared she would go mad. There was no help, no distraction, not even a phone connection to hear our voice. Her “coping strategy” was to remind herself that she wanted us to have what she did not. Back then I was occupied with my own needs; today, I realise my mother paid for my education with her tears.

If her self-sacrifice lifted me to greater heights, her second quality built the foundation.

At medical school, I was never as “together” as I wanted to be. When presenting a transplant patient, I lost track of the organs prompting the fellow to rescue me. I fainted in surgery and halted an operation. I nearly dropped a slippery baby. One day, noting my constant striving, my professor broke out laughing: “You know what I like about you? You take criticism in stride and just bounce back.” Years later, my friend who watched me grow up put it differently. “The best thing your mother gave you was constant love. It means you don’t look for approval elsewhere.”

When I was young, my mother displayed in me an absolute faith and absolute love. In her eyes, I could do no wrong that I couldn’t also fix. She didn’t use indulgent words to declare her love but to be in her presence was to feel like the most important person in the world.

When I scored a zero on my maths test (and forged my dad’s signature to boot), he was annoyed but she stayed quiet, and I never cheated again. To become a doctor, she told me to go anywhere I wanted. When an Indian uncle warned that being a single woman in western society would “spoil” me, she retorted that I wasn’t a bottle of milk. At the threat of an “unarranged” marriage, she trusted me over an algorithm.

My mother allowed me to live a fuller life than hers without penalty, bargain, or guilt. To this she added extraordinary generosity. Today, I attribute my resilience and equilibrium to the confidence that no matter who else judges me, it will not be my mother.

You are children of a different time. Today’s mothers have competing demands related to professional and personal goals. Sometimes, I must put my work above your needs. I expect your help in the kitchen because I need you to be self-sufficient. I don’t walk you the bus every day, come rain or shine. In terms of self-sacrifice, I do far less than my mother.

Unlike my mother, I scrutinise your grades and challenge your decisions. I threaten to call your teacher because it kills me, of all people, to hear that I should introduce you to the art of reading and writing. We quibble over junk food, screen time, the dog and the dishwasher. I am not your “bro” and want to ban the phrase “it’s not that deep”.

Sometimes, my love for you must feel conditional.

A generation ago, Nanima strived to be my “everything” parent. But I suck at cake decoration and balk at standing around at sports. Sometimes I prefer my own company to yours and I can be annoying, confusing and confused. At my best, I am what the psychiatrist Donald Winnicott called the good enough mother .

Nanima says that spoilt people are those who didn’t receive enough love, not the ones who were bathed in it. I will keep trying by taking her to the temple and various appointments as she ages. But on this Mother’s Day, before the annual ritual begins of “guys, who was meant to get the card?”, let me say, that I love you. I appreciate all the little things you do but the purest gift of all is to catch the three of you in an unguarded moment in your own little universe and wonder how I get to call you my kids.

This, I have in common with your Nanima .

Your Best College Essay

Maybe you love to write, or maybe you don’t. Either way, there’s a chance that the thought of writing your college essay is making you sweat. No need for nerves! We’re here to give you the important details on how to make the process as anxiety-free as possible.

student's hands typing on a laptop in class

What's the College Essay?

When we say “The College Essay” (capitalization for emphasis – say it out loud with the capitals and you’ll know what we mean) we’re talking about the 550-650 word essay required by most colleges and universities. Prompts for this essay can be found on the college’s website, the Common Application, or the Coalition Application. We’re not talking about the many smaller supplemental essays you might need to write in order to apply to college. Not all institutions require the essay, but most colleges and universities that are at least semi-selective do.

How do I get started?

Look for the prompts on whatever application you’re using to apply to schools (almost all of the time – with a few notable exceptions – this is the Common Application). If one of them calls out to you, awesome! You can jump right in and start to brainstorm. If none of them are giving you the right vibes, don’t worry. They’re so broad that almost anything you write can fit into one of the prompts after you’re done. Working backwards like this is totally fine and can be really useful!

What if I have writer's block?

You aren’t alone. Staring at a blank Google Doc and thinking about how this is the one chance to tell an admissions officer your story can make you freeze. Thinking about some of these questions might help you find the right topic:

  • What is something about you that people have pointed out as distinctive?
  • If you had to pick three words to describe yourself, what would they be? What are things you’ve done that demonstrate these qualities?
  • What’s something about you that has changed over your years in high school? How or why did it change?
  • What’s something you like most about yourself?
  • What’s something you love so much that you lose track of the rest of the world while you do it?

If you’re still stuck on a topic, ask your family members, friends, or other trusted adults: what’s something they always think about when they think about you? What’s something they think you should be proud of? They might help you find something about yourself that you wouldn’t have surfaced on your own.

How do I grab my reader's attention?

It’s no secret that admissions officers are reading dozens – and sometimes hundreds – of essays every day. That can feel like a lot of pressure to stand out. But if you try to write the most unique essay in the world, it might end up seeming forced if it’s not genuinely you. So, what’s there to do? Our advice: start your essay with a story. Tell the reader about something you’ve done, complete with sensory details, and maybe even dialogue. Then, in the second paragraph, back up and tell us why this story is important and what it tells them about you and the theme of the essay.

THE WORD LIMIT IS SO LIMITING. HOW DO I TELL A COLLEGE MY WHOLE LIFE STORY IN 650 WORDS?

Don’t! Don’t try to tell an admissions officer about everything you’ve loved and done since you were a child. Instead, pick one or two things about yourself that you’re hoping to get across and stick to those. They’ll see the rest on the activities section of your application.

I'M STUCK ON THE CONCLUSION. HELP?

If you can’t think of another way to end the essay, talk about how the qualities you’ve discussed in your essays have prepared you for college. Try to wrap up with a sentence that refers back to the story you told in your first paragraph, if you took that route.

SHOULD I PROOFREAD MY ESSAY?

YES, proofread the essay, and have a trusted adult proofread it as well. Know that any suggestions they give you are coming from a good place, but make sure they aren’t writing your essay for you or putting it into their own voice. Admissions officers want to hear the voice of you, the applicant. Before you submit your essay anywhere, our number one advice is to read it out loud to yourself. When you read out loud you’ll catch small errors you may not have noticed before, and hear sentences that aren’t quite right.

ANY OTHER ADVICE?

Be yourself. If you’re not a naturally serious person, don’t force formality. If you’re the comedian in your friend group, go ahead and be funny. But ultimately, write as your authentic (and grammatically correct) self and trust the process.

And remember, thousands of other students your age are faced with this same essay writing task, right now. You can do it!
