If I Were A Flower (Essay Sample)

If i were a flower.

A flower signifies a lot in nature. It is associated with life and beauty. A rose flower, for instance, is not only beautiful and attractive hence irresistible but it also has a fragrance that spreads to every part where the flower grows. If I were a flower, my life would be complete as described in this paper.

If I were a flower, I would definitely pat myself on the back every single day, knowing that I’m one of the most beautiful, valued plants on the earth. I would wake up each day jumping up and down with excitement, awaiting the next person eager to come and see or pick me. As people come to see me every day, I would let out my emotion flow freely, and although man lacks the ability to recognize the emotion of a flower, I could be excited each day of my life, recognizing the fact that my beauty attracts many, including envious flower neighbors. As humans come to touch and praise me, I would take their praise for a mirror reflection, as I will not have the ability to see myself. When one says, “This flower is so beautiful,” I would thank them sincerely despite human inability to hear the voices of plants.

The need to associate with trees, other flower varieties plus various species of plants would cause me to find a way of communicating with them. I would greet my neighbors every day, and chat away with them, notifying them of the extent to which beauty makes all plants worthwhile and how plants are a key part of the human life. Educating my neighbors regarding the need to care for ourselves, as well as our role as plants in the completion of the ecosystem will take preeminence over all else.

Being a flower, I would not be jealous when humans choose to see other flowers. As beauty is a fully packaged commodity in itself, worry and fear of domination by other flowers could be the last thing on my mind! Knowing that I am naturally beautiful, no need for jealousy could possibly exist within me. To beautify myself even more, I could utilize day and night effectively. During the day time, I would stand above all other flowers then make myself noticed by everyone. During the night, I could give the most fragrance to attract onlookers and passerby.

Someone might pick me then offer me to his lover as a gift. As the lover rejoices while her face beams with smiles, satisfaction along with assurance of love, I would delight too with them both and gratitude could fill me knowing that my greatest role and desire (love) is fulfilled. At times, I would also be picked on special, sunny days then presented in church on key occasions. This could amount to spiritual nourishment in addition to fulfillment of my other purpose and desire: soul nourishment. At other times, I could be picked on such special occasions as weddings and graduations. When being transported towards the ceremony, I would be excited to see the attendants as well as complement the occasion. This could add to my pleasure.

Recognizing how short my life is, I would live each day like a queen, hoping that whoever picks me uses me appreciates my beauty, value, as well as role in nature hence use me for noble causes. A flower is a valuable plant. It is different from all other plants and any day as a flower would fill me with joy, elevate my wellbeing, and give me a chance to complement the various aspects of nature’s ecosystem.

If I were a Flower Essay (978 Words)

February 19, 2018 by Study Mentor 1 Comment

How amazing it would feel to always feel special? How amazing it would feel to be loved every time. It seems to be very nice and amazing. It feels very soothing and calm.

How beautiful would it be if I were a flower? A flower is not just a bud surrounded by petals. It has much more meaning to it. It has its separate significance.

It has its separate identity. It has its separate importance. A flower is the first thing which is offered to the God.  It is the closest means to be connected to the God.

How different it would feel if we get a chance every time to meet God. Flowers are used to decorate the statues of God.

We, the humans have so much of devotion towards God. We have so much of belief on him. We are dependent on them for everything that would happen in our life.

We go to thank them. We go to share our problems with God. We can do all these external things. But sadly, we are not able to communicate with them.

Though, we have a kind of communication with God but not a two-way communication.

But if I were a flower I would always be near God. I would be so close to the God. I would be used as a medium of decoration for them.

My beauty would increase to another level. My beauty would enhance in the presence of God. There would be no good feeling than being connected to God.

It would give me a chance to be in direct contact with the almighty. As a human we would never be so close the almighty. But if I will be flower it is possible. It will be feeling of bliss. It would be ecstatic.

For me, the place of God in my life is very superior. I would feel myself as a very lucky person to get a chance to be with the God.

If I were a flower I would be very happy and joyous. I would be very excited for each day. I would utilize my each and every moment. A flower has beauty in it.

A flower has life in it. It has fragrance in it.  The flowers would spread its fragrance everywhere.  The flower would wash away all the bad smells.

It is very powerful. The fragrance is very natural. Everybody would nourish me if I were a flower. Every person would admire my beauty.

Every person would like to have the soft feel of mine. I will have a velvet body. My fragrance would be soothing to them. People would come in search of me to present me as a present to their beloved ones.

The best thing about being a flower is that I would always be used in happy moments. People would want to gift me in every happy occasion.

I would be gifted as a wedding anniversary gift. I would be gifted as a wedding gift. I would be gifted as a birthday gift. I would be gifted as good luck wish.

I have all the positivity in me. Everywhere I go I would spread happiness. I would spread my mesmerizing fragrance.

I would keep away all the dull-ness from one’s life. I would be decorated on the walls and tress and every possible place to be admired by others.

I would be spreading my beauty in so many different colors. I would have red color. I would have blue color. I would have white color. I would have yellow color. I would have all the colors. I would have so much to be adored in me.

Since the life span of flower is small I would live to the fullest as a flower. As a flower each day would be an interesting day for me.

I would make the best use of my day. I would utilize each and every hour of it. I would help to spread smile on people’s face. I would bloom and glow in all the weather.

Apple Flower

I would spread my fragrance for others. People would come to me and pick me up. They would use me for the decoration. They would make the best out of me.

They would make me look more beautiful and attractive. They would offer me to people. I am even used in big places.

The places such as palaces would be decorated with me. The places such as beautiful hotels and resorts would get more enhanced when I would be decorated on them.

People in the admiration of my beauty would write praises on me. The great poet William Wordsworth himself wrote the greatest poetry on me. I have so many different forms as a flower.

He wrote poetry on daffodils. He portrayed flower in a very beautiful and different way. Since I am a flower, I would have a very short life span. But the poetry made the flower immortal.

Everybody would read about me. Everybody would be in love with me. Everybody would want to see me and mention me.

They would speak about me. Such is the power of poetry written on me. I would never die from the hearts of the people. I would always remain alive.

If I were a flower I would always be happy. I would always be excited. I would always be blooming. I would always be joyous. I would always bring smile and happiness on people’s face.

I would be a symbol of love and affection. My presence would elevate the atmosphere. I would always be jumping and hopping.

Why I Love Flowers

One of the reasons why I adore flowers is that they are really beautiful. Usually, people pay more attention to things that display beauty and flowers do it very well. That is the reason why we will find people with flowers in their offices, houses, cars and many other places. Flowers are natural and they are one of the few natural gifts we can give or receive from someone. Natural gifts are more precious to people as compared to artificial gifts. Another reason is the good scent they produce. That is one of the major reasons that people love being around flowers.

My name is Rose, and I am a flower. My story is one of growth, beauty, and the journey of spreading happiness and joy to those who admire me. I was born from a seed, nurtured by the soil, and given the chance to grow into the beautiful flower that I am today.

Growing up, I felt the warmth of the sun on my petals, and I drank in the rain that fell from the sky. I watched as other plants grew alongside me, and I learned from them. I learned the importance of perseverance, of not giving up even when faced with challenges and difficulties.

You Have Grown, And Just Like A Flower, You Will Bloom

I’ve been thinking a lot lately about growth. We all grow in so many ways, that we often don’t even acknowledge. You are doing things today, you once thought were impossible, no matter how big or how small. Maybe you always dreamed of getting your college degree, but the journey to accomplishing that goal was so difficult that it seemed unrealistic, but here you are gearing up to walk across the stage. Maybe you thought you would never be able to approach that person, or go to a certain store, or tackle a fear, and yet here you are, doing the very thing that scares you. For me, I never thought I would be sharing my story to help others, but here I am doing it, and feeling really proud of myself because of it.

A lot of times we forget to stop and pause and be thankful for our growth. We forget to do the necessary reflection so we can be proud of ourselves for the growth we have experienced. I think a lot of this is due to the fact that we go through our lives looking for instant gratification. We think about our dreams and how amazing they would be if they turned out to be exactly how we want them to be, but when we realize those dreams will take time to accomplish, we get discouraged and disheartened. We don’t congratulate ourselves for even having that idea, and we often don’t feel good about the small win we accomplished. While we might never fully get our instant gratification mindsets to go away, we can be realistic with ourselves about our goals and we can congratulate our growth. When we can do that, we can be grateful for the journey, even if it is slow. I am grateful for my growth in learning to love my body after struggling for years with disordered eating, but I will admit it can be frustrating to want to love my body all the time but still have really bad body image days. I want that instant gratification of reaching my goal of saying  – “Yes! I am recovered, my body is amazing and I will never think otherwise”. I am not sure I will ever get to that point, but on my journey of striving for that goal, I can pause and be grateful that I now have more good days than bad days, and that I can point out things I love about my body more times than not. That is growth. No matter how slow the growth is, there is growth, and the growth is beautiful. I am sure you have a similar experience. So instead of getting frustrated with yourself for falling short or not reaching your goal as quickly as you wanted to, stop and pause and be proud of yourself for doing more than you were doing yesterday. Be thankful for the growth you have made with every step.

Even when we fall down and we go back a few steps, we already have such a strong foundation under us that will allow us to keep moving forward in the direction of our goals, with gratitude of ourselves at the forefront of our minds.

All of your experiences to this date, have allowed you to grow into the very person you are today. We all still have a long way to go, and we will never be perfect, which is not the goal anyway, but we are stronger today in this moment than we ever have been before. Even if in this moment, we feel weak or we feel discouraged, we have done so much up until this point, and we have everything within us already to get through this difficult time. You have grown, and just like a flower you will bloom. You will use your experiences of the past, no matter how sad, traumatic, or hurtful they might have been, to propel you forward. It can be so helpful to pause in your pursuit of happiness, success, or love, and just be grateful that you are who you are, and that you have been where you have been. Because without those experiences, you wouldn’t be here today, strong in your foundation, ready to take the world by storm, knowing that no matter how long the journey is to your goal, your strength will grow, and that growth, is just simply beautiful.

Autobiography of a flower

I was a rose flower. I am referring to myself in the past tense, because I think I am no longer a flower. Now I am piece of plastic kept in a box. The secret behind this is my life story.

I was born on a rose plant in a garden in Shimla. There were several flowers around me that time. I thought they were my brothers. There was a man in the garden, whom we used to call ‘The Gardener’. One day he came to me and said, “you are a very nice and pretty flower. I wish I could take you along with me. But then you would die if I removed you from the plant.” No sooner had he said this, his eyes gleamed with surprise. I was a rose flower on a jasmine plant. My siblings were not roses, but they were jasmines!

Soon I grew up to be a beautiful rose. One day the gardener came running in the garden. He picked up all the plants, potted them and left with garden with all of us. After a little while I heard the noise of gushing water. Someone shouted something and I realised that there was a flood in the city. The gardener carried us with him until he could no longer hold on to us. All the pots dropped in the water. It made the gardener so sad that he died. All the flowers drifted in the water and came up to the ocean, including me.

At the shore I saw a couple fighting. The man suddenly picked me up and gave me to the lady. But the lady threw me on the street.

There was a dog on the street. It grasped me in its claws and took me to a bridge. There he gave me to his master and then went to sleep.

After a while the dog and his master were walking on the bridge, with the dog holding me with his teeth. Suddenly a car came from nowhere and hit the dog. The dog dropped me and I fell off the bridge. I landed on a train that was running at full speed below the bridge. This train couldn’t stop because the driver had forgotten about the brakes. But when the driver saw my red colour, he remembered to press the red button and the train thankfully stopped.

The driver then took me to his house. Soon after I started wilting. So he covered me with some plastic sheet so that I could be preserved. Since then I am in his house on his mantle.

Essay on Rose Flower for Students & Children in English

January 10, 2024 by Sandeep

Essay on Rose Flower: The queen of flowers, rose is very beautiful and attractive. It grows in different colours like red, white, yellow, pink and other varieties. Small thorns on the stem protect the plant. In terms of literature, the flower has been glorified as signs of love, compassion and eternal beauty. Rose petals are popularly used in face packs and for preparing fragrances. They stand out amongst all decorative flowers. They beautify garlands and found in all places of worship.

Short Essay on Rose Flower (100 Words)

The rose is one of the most popular flowers in the whole world. It appears in many colours, although the bold red rose is the most well-known because it symbolizes love. The other colour variants of roses include white, pink and yellow. White roses symbolize peace; yellow roses indicate friendship, and pink roses are a symbol of gratefulness and joy.

Roses grow in the form of shrubs. Flowers eventually grow into fruits, and similarly, when rose petals fall off, the rosehip fruit grows in its place. They have small thorns all over their stems to protect themselves and harm those who are greedy to pluck them. Their petals are soft and delicate, and form layers around the stamen and stigma.

The other colour variants of roses include white, pink and yellow. White roses are said to symbolize peace, yellow roses indicate friendship and pink roses are a symbol of gratefulness and joy.

I Am Like a Flower Poem

I Am Like a Flower

The flower standing tall under the bright sun

This poem encapsulates the transient nature of life, paralleled with the fleeting beauty of a flower. Each line embodies the essence of growth, decline, and the inevitable cycle of existence. Through the lens of a flower’s life—its reliance on the elements, its rooted connection to the earth, and its rhythmic dance with the seasons—we’re reminded of our own journey. The poem subtly nudges the reader to embrace the momentary beauty of being, acknowledging the impermanence that defines both a flower’s bloom and human life.

Inspiration Behind

I envisioned a solitary flower basking in the sunlight, its existence a silent symphony of resilience and grace. The rain and wind were not adversaries but companions in its dance of life. This imagery led me to draw parallels with our own lives—how we bloom, face the elements, and eventually fade, yet leave a mark of beauty behind. Each line is a stroke in this watercolor painting of life, where every moment is fleeting yet full of grace.

In this section, we will discuss the role of descriptive writing in storytelling, the elements of descriptive writing, and the importance of sensory details.

The Role of Descriptive Writing in Storytelling

Descriptive writing plays a crucial role in storytelling. It helps to create a detailed and immersive world that readers can visualize and connect with. A well-written description can transport readers to another place and time, allowing them to experience the story in a more meaningful way. It also helps to establish the tone and mood of the story and to build suspense and anticipation.

Elements of Descriptive Writing

Effective descriptive writing requires attention to detail and a careful selection of words. The following elements are essential to creating a vivid and engaging description:

  • Word choice: The words chosen should be specific and detailed, helping to create a clear mental image in the reader’s mind.
  • Imagery: The use of descriptive language and sensory details helps to create a visual image of the scene.
  • Structure: The description should be well-organized and easy to follow, with a logical flow of ideas.
  • Action: Descriptions should not be static, but should convey movement and activity.
  • Narrative: The description should be integrated into the narrative, rather than feeling like a separate entity.

The Importance of Sensory Details

Sensory details are an essential component of descriptive writing . They help to engage the reader’s senses, making the description more immersive and memorable. By including details about what the scene looks, sounds, feels, and smells like, the writer can create a more complete and vivid picture in the reader’s mind. This helps to draw the reader into the story and create a deeper emotional connection.

In conclusion, descriptive writing is a powerful tool that writers can use to create a vivid and engaging story. By paying attention to word choice, imagery, structure, action, and sensory details, writers can transport their readers to another world and make their stories come to life.

Crafting Vivid Descriptions

i am a flower essay

Crafting vivid descriptions of a flower garden requires the use of descriptive language and figurative language to paint a detailed mental picture for the reader. Here are some tips on how to create vivid descriptions:

Utilizing Strong Adjectives and Verbs

One of the keys to crafting vivid descriptions is to utilize strong adjectives and verbs. Using adjectives like “vibrant,” “lush,” “fragrant,” and “colorful” can help create a more vivid picture in the reader’s mind. Verbs like “sway,” “dance,” “bloom,” and “flutter” can also help create a more dynamic and engaging description.

Incorporating Similes and Metaphors

Similes and metaphors are powerful tools in creating vivid descriptions. Comparing the flower garden to something else can help the reader better understand and visualize the scene. For example, “the flowers swayed in the breeze like dancers on a stage” or “the garden was a kaleidoscope of colors, like a painting come to life.”

Building Detailed Mental Pictures

To create a truly vivid description, it is important to build a detailed mental picture for the reader. This can be achieved by describing the garden in a way that engages all the senses. For example, “the scent of the roses wafted through the air, mingling with the sweet fragrance of the lilies” or “the sound of bees buzzing around the blooming flowers filled the garden with life.”

By utilizing strong adjectives and verbs, incorporating similes and metaphors, and building detailed mental pictures, writers can create vivid descriptions of a flower garden that transport the reader to the scene.

Describing a Flower Garden

i am a flower essay

A flower garden is a visual feast for the eyes, a place where nature’s beauty is on full display. To vividly describe a flower garden, one must use specific language and sensory details that bring the garden to life. Here are some tips on how to convey the visual splendor, evoke scents and textures, and capture the essence of a flower garden.

Conveying the Visual Splendor

To convey the visual splendor of a flower garden, one must use descriptive language that captures the colors, shapes, and patterns of the flowers. Words like vibrant, bold, and delicate can be used to describe the different hues of the flowers. One can also use similes and metaphors to compare the flowers to other objects, such as “the tulips were like bright red flames dancing in the wind.”

Evoking Scents and Textures

A flower garden is not just a visual experience, but a sensory one as well. To evoke the scents and textures of a flower garden, one must use sensory language that appeals to the sense of smell and touch. Words like fragrant, sweet, and spicy can be used to describe the different scents of the flowers. One can also use tactile language to describe the textures of the petals, such as “the velvety softness of the rose petals.”

Capturing the Essence of the Garden

Finally, to capture the essence of a flower garden, one must use language that conveys the mood and atmosphere of the garden. Words like peaceful, serene, and joyful can be used to describe the overall feeling of the garden. One can also use descriptive language to bring the garden to life, such as “the gentle swaying of the daisies in the breeze.”

In conclusion, describing a flower garden requires the use of specific language and sensory details that bring the garden to life. By using descriptive language to capture the visual splendor, evoke scents and textures, and capture the essence of the garden, one can create a vivid and engaging description that transports the reader to the heart of the garden.

Enhancing Narrative with Descriptive Techniques

i am a flower essay

Descriptive writing is a powerful tool for enhancing the narrative of a novel or fictional story. It allows the reader to visualize the characters, settings, and actions in their mind’s eye, creating a more immersive reading experience. In this section, we will explore how to use descriptive techniques to create vivid character and setting descriptions, bring action scenes to life, and integrate descriptive writing into dialogue.

Character and Setting Descriptions

When introducing characters and settings, it’s important to use descriptive language that is both memorable and accurate. By painting a vivid picture of the characters and their surroundings, the reader is more likely to become emotionally invested in the story.

One effective technique is to use sensory details such as sight, sound, touch, taste, and smell. For example, instead of simply stating that a character has blue eyes, the writer could describe them as “piercing blue eyes that sparkle like sapphires in the sunlight.” Similarly, instead of saying a garden is beautiful, the writer could describe “the lush, fragrant garden bursting with colorful blooms and the sweet scent of fresh herbs.”

Using Descriptive Language in Action

Action scenes are a crucial part of any narrative, and descriptive writing can help bring them to life. By using vivid language that conveys the intensity and emotion of the scene, the reader can feel as if they are right there with the characters.

One effective technique is to use short, punchy sentences that convey a sense of urgency and excitement. For example, instead of saying “The hero fought bravely,” the writer could describe “The hero’s heart pounded as he swung his sword, each blow striking with the force of a thunderbolt.”

Integrating Descriptive Writing in Dialogue

Dialogue is an important part of any narrative, and descriptive writing can be used to enhance it as well. By using descriptive language to convey the emotions and body language of the characters, the reader can better understand their motivations and reactions.

One effective technique is to use action tags that describe the character’s movements and expressions. For example, instead of saying “she said angrily,” the writer could describe “she clenched her fists and glared at him, her voice rising with each word.”

In conclusion, descriptive writing is a powerful tool for enhancing the narrative of a novel or fictional story. By using descriptive techniques to create vivid character and setting descriptions, bring action scenes to life, and integrate descriptive writing into dialogue, the writer can create a more immersive and memorable reading experience for the reader.

The Power of Specificity in Writing

When it comes to describing a flower garden, the power of specificity cannot be overstated. By using precise and engaging language, a writer can transport their readers to the garden and make them feel as though they are experiencing it firsthand. The following subsections will explore the significance of nouns and verbs, as well as choosing the right adjectives and adverbs to create a detailed and vivid description.

The Significance of Nouns and Verbs

In writing, nouns and verbs are the backbone of any sentence. They provide the necessary information for readers to understand what is happening and what objects are being referred to. When it comes to describing a flower garden, it’s important to choose nouns and verbs that are as precise as possible. Instead of saying “There are many flowers in the garden,” a writer could say “the garden is overflowing with vibrant tulips, daffodils, and roses.” This not only paints a more detailed picture for the reader but also creates a more engaging and active sentence.

Choosing the Right Adjectives and Adverbs

While nouns and verbs provide the foundation for a sentence, adjectives, and adverbs add color and depth to the description. However, it’s important to choose these words carefully to avoid overusing them or using them incorrectly. For example, instead of saying “The garden is beautiful,” a writer could say “The garden is a stunning display of vibrant colors and delicate fragrances.” This not only provides a more detailed and engaging description but also avoids using a generic and overused adjective.

In conclusion, the power of specificity in writing cannot be understated, especially when it comes to describing a flower garden. By using precise and engaging language, a writer can transport their readers to the garden and make them feel as though they are experiencing it firsthand. By choosing the right nouns, verbs, adjectives, and adverbs, a writer can create a detailed and vivid description that will captivate their readers.

IF I were a Butterfly essay Image

If I were a Butterfly.

I and my sister had visited a garden close to our house recently. My sister likes to click photos so she was busy clicking pictures in the garden. The garden was beautiful it was filled with colorful flowers but I was not interested and was getting bored.

When we returned back to our home my sister started showing photos clicked by her in the garden to our family members. She had clicked a photograph of a beautiful butterfly. Looking at the photo everyone was talking about the beauty of that butterfly, at that time a thought came to my mind what if I were a butterfly, and I started to imagine what will happen if I became a butterfly.

When I will become a butterfly I will get so colorful and beautiful wings. Watching the integrated design of mine wings people will always talk about my beauty and appreciate me. Photographers like my sister will always be behind me to take my beautiful and attractive photos.

If I were a butterfly then I would fly from one place to another and there will be no one who will stop me. I will require no permission to go out of the house and the most important thing I will not have to face any traffic problems.

As a student, I have to study so much, after finishing school I have to go to the tuition, and once I return back home I have to finish with both the homework. I don't even get time to play. But if I were a butterfly then there will be no need to study, and there is no question left about school and tuition. And I will able to play for the whole day flying from one flower to another flower.

How great it will be being a butterfly, if we are hungry we can eat whatever we want. I want to sleep we can sleep anywhere without any disturbance. If I were a butterfly than life would be so beautiful isn't it?.

I was headed on a cruise with my girlfriends and went to see Jenna Bruno to have my hair cut and colored!!! I wanted it short enough so I didn't have to use rollers on the trip and long enough to not look short ! It came out perfect! I love it and will be back ! Jenna did an awesome job ! She is so detailed and made sure every little gray was covered !!!

I found Mirian as she popped up on my Instagram stories feed one day. I was so glad because it's not always easy to find hairdressers that know how to work with curly hair. She was very responsive, kind and helpful on Instagram. I was looking for just a root touch up and a baby trim to get me by. While in the chair, she was nice, offered water, and was able to color match my roots perfectly. Mirian is a good listener because she did exactly what I wanted. The wash, cut, treatment and blow dry style was perfect. She's like a hair magician and turned me from having greys and white roots to feeling pretty again! The location is nice and clean too. The front is cute with pink and white decor. The back is in black and white glam decor. They have Kevin Murphy products too. I highlighted recommend Mirian for all your color, cut and styling needs!

Really wanted to love this place since the staff were really nice. However, this place ruined my hair beyond fixing/repair. I usually go to a different salon but decided to give this one a try. The lady who cut my hair clearly had no idea what she was doing and didn't follow through with what I asked for. She was nice but not knowledgeable on how to work with different hair textures and ended up ruining my previous layers from the other salon I usually go to. I came in to trim off split ends and reshape my hair. She took shears to my hair and slid the blade down my hair which salon professionals have always told me to avoid. This method causes extreme damage and frizz to thick and wavy hair such as mine and she didn't even ask me before doing it. I guided her many times on how to cut my hair and she insisted that my hair would look fine after curling it. I shouldn't have to curl my hair every day just to hide the bad haircut.. I told her that the layers she cut made my hair even more puffy even though I had already warned her that layering it a certain way usually makes my hair puff out. I showed her photos of the type of layers that work with my hair and she didn't follow it. She curled my hair at the end of the session to hide the damaged ends and choppiness. I pay around this same price to get my hair cut by professionals at a salon in Walnut Creek downtown (which includes shampoo+ blow dry) so I'm extremely upset with how this one turned out after wanting to try out and support a new salon. Really disappointed that I'll need to wait for my hair to grow out to fix this mess.

I had Jenna cut and color my hair and I loved it. It is easy to take care of and the color is perfect. I will definitely come back and have her do my hair again. She was very pleasant and accommodating. What a great looking place the salon is since they moved next door and renovated it.

Great place to get a haircut downtown. With the limited street parking the free parking at the garage across the street is convenient. Jenna is my go to barber there!

Stephanie is the best for a beautiful blowout. The service at Flowers was easy to book, fast and still looks great days after. Also, the head massage during the shampoo was so relaxing!

Absolutely love coming here and working with Ashley! She has taken such amazing care of my hair and her attention to detail is on point! I am very particular about my hair, and she listens to what it is I am looking for. Highly recommend coming here!

Geoff Duncan, Georgia’s Republican Former Lt. Gov., Says He Will Vote for Biden

“I am voting for a decent person I disagree with on policy over a criminal defendant without a moral compass,” wrote Mr. Duncan, who was in office during the 2020 election.

Geoff Duncan speaks into a television reporter’s microphone as other members of the press gather around the two men.

  • May 6, 2024

Geoff Duncan, a Republican who was lieutenant governor of Georgia when then-President Donald J. Trump tried to overturn the 2020 election results there, endorsed President Biden for re-election on Monday.

“I am voting for a decent person I disagree with on policy over a criminal defendant without a moral compass,” Mr. Duncan wrote in an opinion piece in The Atlanta Journal-Constitution.

He joins a small minority of prominent Republicans who have deemed Mr. Trump’s conduct — especially his refusal to accept his loss — egregious enough to set aside party loyalty and refuse to vote for him. Mr. Duncan also cited Mr. Trump’s “erratic” handling of the coronavirus pandemic and his “incendiary” public statements for his reasoning.

The list of other prominent Republicans who say they will not vote for him is short. It includes former Representative Liz Cheney of Wyoming, Senators Lisa Murkowski of Alaska and Mitt Romney of Utah, and former Gov. Chris Christie of New Jersey. Even fewer Republicans — among them the former Trump spokeswoman Sarah Matthews and the former White House lawyer Ty Cobb — have gone a step further and said they would vote for Mr. Biden, as opposed to a third-party or write-in candidate.

Arguing that “elections are a binary choice,” Mr. Duncan wrote: “The G.O.P. will never rebuild until we move on from the Trump era, leaving conservative (but not angry) Republicans like me no choice but to pull the lever for Biden. At the same time, we should work to elect G.O.P. congressional majorities to block his second-term legislative agenda and provide a check and balance.”

“The alternative,” he wrote, “is another term of Trump, a man who has disqualified himself through his conduct and his character.”

Mr. Duncan criticized Republicans who have fallen in line behind Mr. Trump, a majority of the party that includes many who previously spoke against him. Mr. Duncan cited three by name: Mitch McConnell , the Senate minority leader; Bill Barr , Mr. Trump’s former attorney general; and Gov. Chris Sununu of New Hampshire.

James Singer, a spokesman for the Biden campaign, said it “welcomes and is actively reaching out to Americans like Geoff Duncan, who put their country and concern for protecting our democracy before blind loyalty to Donald Trump and his self-centered campaign of revenge and retribution.” A spokesman for Mr. Trump’s campaign did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

Alongside Brad Raffensperger, the Georgia secretary of state, Mr. Duncan affirmed Mr. Biden’s victory in Georgia in 2020 and condemned the efforts by Mr. Trump and his allies to overturn it. “The mountains of misinformation are not helping the process; they are only hurting it,” he told CNN that December . “I voted for President Trump. I campaigned for him. And, unfortunately, he did not win the state of Georgia.”
