Online Games Good or Bad Speech

Online Gaming is a new fad amongst all age groups today especially amongst teenagers which has its own advantages and disadvantages. Online Games Good or Bad Speech is among the ASL Topics and we have composed two sample speeches that can help you prepare for your English assessment.

Online Game: Good Or Bad Speech Sample 1 [400-500 words]

Good morning everyone! I am ABC and today I stand before you to present an insightful and informative speech on whether Online games are good or bad? Online gaming is a double-edged sword that has its own share of merits and demerits. Post pandemic most of our life has become virtual and hence, being completely cut off from online gaming is impossible and even if possible, it will do more harm than good as children and teenagers will be deprived of leisure. Coming on to the bright side of online gaming, there are a plethora of benefits of online gaming as they hone our Analytical thinking, inculcate the importance of Goal-oriented Behaviour as a lot of online Games involve missions and levels which requires really good gaming skills, and online gaming makes teenagers more prudent and alert. India has witnessed a huge boom in the gaming market because the majority of our population is young, mobile phones are available at low cost, and easily available on the Internet. India is among the top 5 online mobile gaming industries and as per research which shows 30 percent of people believe playing online games enhances cognitive skills. Playing online games helps teenagers connect with their peers as most of the teenagers play online games and also if played within limits then it is a really good leisure activity. Now after exploring the merits, we will now understand the dark side of online Gaming. Playing excessive online games reduces our interest in other important activities like academics, outdoor sports. Moreover, all day of sitting and playing online games is detrimental for physical and mental health. Also at times, kids can download games from unsafe sources which may bring viruses to their mobile phone or PC. Also, these games are highly addictive in nature which not only distorts focus but also inhibits delayed gratification among children. Playing action games frequently makes children impulsive and aggressive. The research found that gaming addiction is correlated with low-self esteem, negative beliefs about one’s self, and poor social relationships. Be careful while playing online games, as the most attractive game can be the biggest distraction that can hinder you from achieving your goals and dreams. Now after taking both merits and demerits of online gaming into consideration it is safe to say that online games are beneficial as well as harmful depending completely on us whether we allow these games to overpower our willpower or not. Otherwise if played in limit playing games can be a rewarding experience as well.

Online Game: Good Or Bad Speech Sample 2 [200-300 Words]

Good morning everyone! I am ABC and today I stand before you to present an insightful and informative speech on Online games: good or bad? Just like a coin, online gaming has two sides that must be understood comprehensively. First, we will explore the bright side of online gaming and some of the benefits of online gaming can’t be ignored as it helps us in improving our critical thinking skills as games with tough missions and levels require us to think critically, encourage out of the box and solution-oriented manner of thinking as some missions in a particular game may require spontaneity and smartness in order to crack those missions. Also if played within limits, online gaming, especially with friends, can be a rewarding experience indeed after a tiresome and hectic day at work or College and it improves the presence of mind and alertness. Now further, let’s explore the dark side of online gaming. Some of its demerits are that it takes up a lot of our time, if we get addicted to it and it also deviates us from our main goals and work. Playing violent and action games can definitely instill violence and aggression in our behavior. Thus, we must be cautious of online gaming and play these games within the limit as playing them excessively can hinder our social relationships and affect our health. After taking both the pros and cons of online gaming into account, it is advisable to play online games but only within a limit so that it does not overpower our willpower.

The Top 5 Video Game Speeches of This Generation

As a major medium of the spoken word, speeches have played a role in some of gaming's greatest scenes. This generation is no exception. Which spiels from the period have we enjoyed the most?

Video games have been speaking to us ever since 1980, when arcade and Atari titles like Bezerk began synthesizing robotic voices - hashing out grainy one-liners of instruction and inspiration. These audio endeavors soon materialized into real-life voice acting, and before long extended dialogue sequences were a presentational staple, cinematic cutscenes were commonplace, and riveting characters began uttering riveting speeches and monologues. Conversing became immersing.

As facial animation and visual realism grows ever stronger, and the voice-acting talent pool ever fuller, the art of the video game speech has reached its highest state yet in this generation.

Which moments made our top 5? Read on to find out.

[ SPOILER WARNING] Massive spoilers to the endings of BioShock and Metal Gear Solid 4 are found within pages 4 and 6, respectively. Click with caution .

Mass Effect - Kirrahe Holds the Line

httpv://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UXLVFnl3WcE

Sharp. Precise. Invoking but to-the-point. In little more than a minute, Captain Kirrahe gets his band of Salarian brothers ready for a suicide mission long before Mass Effect 2 rewrote the definition. Sure, objective completion and intuitive thinking might save the Captain a smattering of his men, but individually, these sons of the 3rd Infiltration Regiment STG are fully devoted to the notion that this, here on Virmire, is their final hour. For many, it will be.

Without the leadership of Kirrahe (who’s appropriately named after a mountain used to prepare U.S. paratroopers for D-Day ) Shepard’s mission never would have had a chance. Saren — the Reapers — would reign supreme.

But not this day. With a swift salvo of rhetoric, a timely thunder clap from the God of Punctuation, one of the more resonant moments in Mass Effect makes it mark. And the line is held.

Killzone 2 - Visari Readies for Bloodshed

httpv://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2c2tX0Tdp-Q

Warmongering diatribes are a hallmark of the Visari administration - if Killzone provides an accurate account of it. Though played through the eyes of his enemies (AKA the good guys), each game in the series has opened to the pater familias of the Helghan Empire inciting his catechized corps of Helghast troops to the cause of ISA annihilation. With the walls closing in at the introduction of Killzone 2 , Scolar Visari spins his masterpiece: the “hold the line” speech every dictator dreams of.

Rico’s irritable avoidance of Visari’s stern warning even seeds the interlude sequence with a small touch of foreshadowing: The ISA have no idea what’s waiting on the planet Helghan, and the bloody montage that ensues when the speech concludes proves that this man means every word. It’s all the welcome back a Killzone 1 fan could have asked for.

BioShock — Confronting Andrew Ryan

httpv://www.youtube.com/watch?v=14pQ5B0iTUs

It’s one of the moments that defined the first BioShock : the haunting pre-mortem soliloquy of Andrew Ryan.

Here was a man who so despised Altruism — he believed every man was “entitled to the sweat of his own brow” — that he rejected the social hierarchies of sea-level civilization to construct his own metropolis, Rapture, leagues-deep in the middle of the Atlantic. He convinced society’s finest minds — doctors, scientists, entrepreneurial geniuses — to join him, and together they forged a thriving cultural mecca. At least, that’s how it began.

This Utopian ambition is introduced to us in an opening monologue that’s spectacular on its own — but even more powerful is our first/final live encounter with Ryan, after his dream has crumbled into pieces. It is at this moment when we witness his life’s cruel irony: a man of such Altruism animus, initiating his own death when it will only save others — Jack; Dr. Tenenbaum; the Little Sisters, if they’re alive — hollow objects of welfare, now, with his real love, the fruit of his labor, spoiling into decay.

But the speech isn’t memorable for its deadly swings of fate (if of golf clubs). In the end, we look back on Andrew Ryan’s death the way we do his life. In the end, he chose; a man, not a slave.

Gears of War 2 - Prescott Brings the Fight to the Locust

httpv://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9m55z6O5Qlc

There are no would-you-kindly’s in Gears of War ; it’s a rarity when orders and observations aren’t grunted through teeth, laced with profanities or giddy about the amount of viscera splashing around at any given moment. But when the series does try to step away from its traditional bawdy bounds, when it overthrows action for emotion, poignancy, and carefully scripted drama, occasionally it will hit the mark surprisingly well.

Case in point: At the beginning of Gears of War 2 , with the COG haven of Jacinto on the verge of Locust annihilation, the Honorable Chairman Richard Prescott puts the entire human race on his shoulders and commemorates the first day Sera takes the fight to its underworld invaders in riveting fashion. He’s a windbreaker and walkie-talkie away from jumping in a King Raven and personally leading the assault.

The COG leader is described better as enigmatic than charismatic, and is scantly depicted as endearing throughout the main Gears trilogy. The gravity of the situation brings out his best, however, and while Prescott may not seem the ideal rallying symbol to motivate his army and the audience, both are left ravenous by the time he’s finished.

Metal Gear Solid 4 - Big Boss' Parting Words

Sometimes, the best speeches are those that don’t require a pulpit or a megaphone. When an organic moment between two or more readily-oratory participants suddenly produces a one-way conversation: one person gets on a roll — musing, brooding, eulogizing, ranting — and everyone else realizes it’s best to shut up and listen… and standby for cigar service, if necessary.

Big Boss closes out Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots with one such speech, the final reflections of an illustrious life silencing his last-living son, Solid Snake, into the role of a graceful bystander. The FOXHOUND founder formerly known as Naked Snake bears all (metaphorically speaking). Reflecting on exploits decades-past, appealing for recompense long-overdue, and dreaming about a future era that’s fast-approaching — it’s Hideo Kojima’s way of passing the torch to the next generation (be it the rapidly-ripened Snake or a completely different tangent — we’ll know when Metal Gear Solid 5 is revealed ) whilst tactfully closing the encyclopedia on the past. Furthermore, this being the work of said director, there almost has to be some sort of symbolism, some foreshadowing clue hidden with the patchwork of those white annual flowers. We won’t attempt to decode Kojima here, but it’s one of many reasons we keep returning to some of his finest work.

From a Salarian captain in Mass Effect to a business magnate in BioShock to a warrior politician in Gears of War , video games have shown how speeches can thrill - and also kill; an autocratic dictator in Killzone can revel in a bloody conflict while a lifelong solider in Metal Gear Solid sheds away its memory.

But even as the five speeches here are a testament to modern gaming’s ever-growing emotional spectrum, it’s important to remember their debt of gratitude to the moments of speaking splendor of generations gone by: the Metal Gear Solid’s, the Half-Life’s and so many more.

And as for the honorable mentions — that’s up to you. What other speeches deserve recognition? Which do you find inspirational? Which exciting, provoking, or eliciting of tears? Feel free to share in the comments below.

7 talks on the benefits of gaming

[ted id=1618]

This weekend, hundreds of video games enthusiasts lined up in the cold, waiting 12 hours-plus to be the first to get their hands on Nintendo’s new console, the Wii U. And when the game  Call of Duty: Black Ops was released in 2010, gamers around the world played it for more than 600 million hours in just the first 45 days. That is the equivalent of 68 years.

While some people worry about the popularity of video games, in today’s talk, brain scientist Daphne Bavelier suggests that gaming may be far more beneficial than we think (in moderation) — even if the game is all about shooting up the enemy.

“Most of you have thought, ‘Come on, can’t you do something more productive than shooting zombies?’ I’d like you to put this knee-jerk reaction in the context of how you’d feel if you found your girl playing Soduku,” Bavelier says. “In reasonable doses, action-packed shooter games have quite powerful positive effects on many different aspects of our behavior.”

In the lab, Bavelier and her team measure the impact of gameplay on the brain. While your mom might have told you that staring at screens will wreck your eyes, Bavelier’s lab actually found that playing 5 to 15 hours a week of video games correlates with better vision — and the ability to see more detail in the context of clutter.

It’s another common trope that gaming causes attention problems. However, Bavelier shows data that people who play video games are better able to keep track of objects around them — while the average person can track three objects effectively, video gamers can track six to seven objects. They’re also better able to multitask in general.

Initial studies suggest that these benefits may be trainable. In one study, Bavelier’s lab gave participants a test, and then asked them to play 10 hours of video games over a period of two weeks. When they came back for a post-test, their performance improved — and the improvement was still measurable five months later. Bavelier’s lab hopes to use these findings to create games that can improve eyesight or help keep the brains of senior citizens sharp.

To hear more about Bavelier’s studies, watch her talk . And after the jump, six other talks that suggest video games may simply have a bad reputation.

[ted id=799]

Jane McGonigal: Gaming can make a better world Video game designer Jane McGonigal is deeply inspired by video games like World of Warcraft — because they call on players to become heroes and save worlds.  In this blockbuster talk from TED2010, she shares why she thinks it’s possible to harness the power of gaming to solve real-world problems like hunger, poverty, climate change and war.

Gabe Zichermann: How games make kids smarter Gabe Zichermann wishes that we could channel the era of Where in the World Is Carmen Sandiego? —when students, parents and teachers agreed that video games were great. In this talk from TEDxKids@Brussels, Zichermann suggests that video games make kids better at problem-solving and multitasking, and should be championed rather than villainized.

[ted id=1053]

Ali Carr-Chellman: Gaming to re-engage boys in learning Many boys are having a hard time in school—they’re disproportionally suspended, marked as learning disabled, and diagnosed with ADHD. In this talk from TEDxPSU, Ali Carr-Chellman ponders whether this could be a simple culture clash. She shares a fascinating idea — that creating educational video games full of rich narratives could help boy culture connect with school culture.

[ted id=996]

Tom Chatfield: 7 ways games reward the brain Video games are transfixing, says Tom Chatfield at TEDGlobal 2010. Why? Because they offer emotional rewards and satisfy our ambitions. In this talk, he wonders if other tasks — for example, going green or losing weight — could be made fun by emulating the brilliance of game design.

[ted id=1501]

Jane McGonigal: The game that can give you 10 extra years of life After a severe concussion, Jane McGonigal found herself on mandatory bedrest and feeling deeply depressed. In this talk from TEDGlobal 2012, she shares how she found her way out of a downward spiral — by creating a video game, SuperBetter , that helps people heal. ( Check out the TED Blog post: 10 online games … with a social purpose .)

[ted id=361]

David Perry: Are games better than life? Speaking in 2006, game designer David Perry says we’re at an interesting moment in video game history—where graphics and audio have gotten extremely lifelike. Which means that the next generation (meaning: now) could have games that actually surpass real life. While Perry is excited for what’s to come, he points out that video game makers have a big responsibility given their influence and reach, and hopes that his industry will rise to the challenge. What do you think: Has it?

Since its inception, social media has been a vital tool for democracy, serving as an indispensable platform for people to exercise their rights to speech, expression, and assembly. However, with the recent insurgence of hate crimes like the 2017 Charlottesville attack, policymakers and stakeholders seek to prevent the exploitation of such platforms by hate groups.

In 2017, shortly after the Charlottesville attack that lead to the murder of Heather Heyer, Unicorn Riot leaked conversations had on Discord by white supremacists and neo-Nazis. This led Discord, one of the largest social gaming platforms, to crack down on far-right activity on its platform. But Discord is only one of many social gaming platforms where hate speech is spreading.

To investigate how hate groups target video gaming communities, CPR Science and Technology writer Samuel Israel spoke with Keegan Hankes, the interim research director at the Southern Poverty Law Center’s (SPLC) Intelligence Project and a regular contributor to Hatewatch . Hankes has worked for the SPLC since 2013 tracking neo-Confederates, white nationalists, and the alt-right. He is also involved in the SPLC’s data-driven investigations, particularly in identifying, collecting, and analyzing disparate intelligence streams related to domestic far-right extremism. He joined the SPLC after earning an interdisciplinary humanities degree from the University of Chicago’s New Collegiate Division.

The Southern Poverty Law Center, based in Alabama with offices in Florida, Georgia, Louisiana, Mississippi, and Washington, D.C., is a nonprofit civil rights organization dedicated to fighting hate and bigotry and seeking justice for the most vulnerable members of society.

The following interview has been condensed and edited for clarity.

CPR: Reporting on how hate groups inserted themselves into the gaming community began in 2017 after Charlottesville. From your understanding, how did extremists find their way into games and gaming platforms?

Hankes: Quite a large percentage of the U.S population in some form plays video games. Whether that is on a mobile device, computer, or video game console, you have a wide demographic of the U.S. population playing games in some way.

However, one of the most prominent demographics on video games is white men – especially on online platforms. Because of this, extremists will go onto gaming platforms and try to spread their messages through forums and conversation because they believe they may have a chance to find like-minded people . These online platforms, like Discord, are where white supremacists can play a more active role, with one of the examples of white supremacists organizing and amplifying their voice [by] praising the shooter of the Christchurch massacre .

CPR: Do you have any recommendations for gaming companies on what they can do to prevent the spread of hate speech?

Hankes: When tech companies have very strong terms of service—which a lot of the major ones now have and many younger ones are learning to create—if these terms are put into place early, tech companies can prevent a lot of abuse from white supremacists. Additionally, enforcement is a major component to preventing the spread of hate speech. Twitter is a great example of this: it dragged its feet in effectively moderating white supremacists. When that happens, you can begin to see the problem metastasize.

My recommendation is that when you create and enforce terms of service early on, it will be less likely for extremist groups or individuals to take root there. It can also be pretty devastating for a white supremacist community when all of their infrastructure through posts and comments get deleted on a platform, because when that happens the community may not feel motivated enough to re-build.

CPR: You talked about Twitter. From my understanding, a lot of the platform’s policies seem to be enforced by users like the SPLC bringing these issues to the attention of the platform itself. Has this pattern been the same on video gaming platforms?

Hankes: In general, that’s a good observation of what is happening. In my experience, the platforms have had other people do the work of monitoring and reporting content to platform creators. It’s much more convenient for the platform and costs less time and less money. It shifts the burden of making hard choices on which side your tech organization is with when they can have content flagged by other parties like non-profits .

It gets more complicated when you talk about video games, however, for a few reasons. Video game platform pages are inherently less public than the other types of platforms like Twitter and Facebook, where groups promote growth through being public. If you’re trying to track hate speech, private groups like the ones in Discord are harder to find. That can be better than offering a megaphone to extremists, which major tech companies sometimes do, but this kind of organization provides its own challenges.

a speech about gaming

CPR: Courts have repeatedly afforded hate speech constitutional protections, which limits what the government can do to mitigate its harms. What options do the government have to prevent the spread of extremist messaging?

Hankes: The discussion of what role the government should play in moderating or censoring hate speech has been going on for a long time, which is frustrating for those who have been invested in the issue. I don’t know how familiar you are with Section 230 of the Communications Decency Act, but it basically provides a liability shield for content posted on a platform. For instance, if someone on Facebook publishes something using racial hate speech, I can’t sue Facebook for allowing that content to be shown and it is not obligated to remove it. There definitely is a debate playing out about the role of government on this issue, and I think that on a variety of these instances we are going to see government get involved in some way or another.

Voice Controlled Games: The Rise of Speech Technology in Gaming

Last Updated August 12, 2021

a speech about gaming

Button mashing isn’t the only way to collect coins, smash bricks, and jump on top of enemies. Video games can now be won or lost using a secret weapon: our voices.

Creating a video game is extraordinarily difficult. First, you decide between designing a first-person shooter (FPS) or a role-playing game (RPG). Then, it takes years to properly flesh out the plot, the gameplay, character development, worlds, and game mechanics.

Hundreds of moving parts must come together seamlessly.

In open-world games, there are simply so many scenarios the game developers must run through, test, and create content for. Not only that, but the game must be able to change and adapt based on each player’s actions.

Additionally, there’s audio to add. That involves recording voiceovers with actors, not to mention translating it all for foreign markets. That’s why the game localization sector is growing so fast.

Now, imagine adding another level to gaming through speech recognition technology .

What is a voice-controlled video game?

A voice-controlled game allows you to command your character and interact with others through speech.

Innovative gaming companies champion this idea with the intention of making gaming more accessible for visually impaired and disabled people. It also allows players to immerse themselves further into gameplay through yet another layer of integration.

Voice control also lowers the learning curve for beginners, seeing as less importance is placed on figuring out controls.

The Challenge of Developing Voice-Controlled Games

The challenge for game developers is accounting for the hundreds of hours of speech data needed to build the voice-recognition engines for these games to run smoothly.

Developers must consider accents, dialects, and whole languages on top of baseline video game localization for players in different cultures. There’s also the gathering of all the different potential phrases or voice commands a user would say within the context of the game to account for.

Recording and implementing only a handful of expected phrases without accounting for natural language utterances means the player might never say the “correct” phrase to trigger a response.

As you can see, a lot goes into making speech recognition work smoothly. There’s nothing more frustrating as a gamer than having to repeat yourself, only to be met with your character’s impassive-yet-expectant stare.

So, let’s take a walk through the rise of speech technology in gaming. We’ll start with where we’ve been, move to where we are, then what we’re expecting to see more of.

Early Examples of Voice-Controlled Games

As with any new technology, pioneers will be the ones dealing with the uncharted territory.

Here’s a couple examples of those early attempts to incorporate speech recognition into video games.

In the late 1990s, Leonard Nimoy (whom you may know most famously for his role playing Spock in various incarnations of Star Trek ) provided voice-over narration for what Matt Vella of Time Magazine named, “one of the strangest, most wonderful experiments in video game history: Seaman .”

Released for Sega’s Dreamcast console, the Japanese game put a virtual pet in the care of players who were charged with feeding, nurturing, and guiding its evolution from sea to land.

First released in 1999, the game’s speech recognition system was a little lackluster. Players spoke to the creature via a microphone accessory plugged into their controller, resulting in tedious gameplay and controls.

However, it was still lauded for its creativity, receiving an Excellence Award for Interactive Art at the Japan Media Arts Festival.

Perhaps it was the novelty of Nimoy’s voice that elevated the success of the game. Or maybe it was the wonderment of having a fish with a man’s face respond to your questions with their own witty responses.

Either way, players were hooked by not only being able to control their characters, but also communicate with them.

Canadian-based North Side Inc. was another early pioneer who saw the potential for speech recognition early on. They took on the challenge of building a full-fledged 3D-graphics video game centered around speech recognition technology.

The game was named Bot Colony . It was a sci-fi story in which players find themselves in a technology-driven future. Robots have become ubiquitous helpers in human society.

At the core of North Side’s technology is natural language understanding (NLU). It recognizes natural speech patterns rather than being limited to overly rigid or limited static command phrases. The players can therefore command the robots remotely using speech.

At least, that’s the idea behind it. Playing the game is an entirely different experience.

“The reality of Bot Colony is that it’s as frustrating as it is inspiring” says Josh Tolentino of Game Critic. “Even after multiple minutes-long ‘training sessions’ designed to get the computer to accurately recognize the player’s voice… questions and commands will need to be stated and restated multiple times to get [the bots] to respond properly.”

Ultimately it was concluded that gameplay was much more efficient when the microphone was muted. Instead, a keyboard was used to type in questions and commands manually.

Though Bot Colony wasn’t quite the success story North Side was hoping for, Tolentino added the “the prospect of being able to simply ‘talk’ to a machine in the way one talks normally, and have it respond in a (somewhat) intelligent manner.”

It’s this attraction – this magical moment – that keep developers chugging along in search of a better way to bring speech technology to video games.

Speech Recognition Meets New Video Game Technology

Speaking directly into a microphone isn’t the only new technology to enter the spotlight in the gaming industry. Smart controllers and biofeedback technology, for example, took center stage as video games became even more complex.

Mass Effect 3

Back in 2012, Microsoft struggled to convince the gaming world that motion sensor controllers would be the next big thing. Their belief was they would elevate and improve a person’s gaming experience.

However, with the release of Mass Effect 3 , all that was about to change.

Aimed at making the gameplay as easy and intuitive as possible, Mass Effect 3’s Kinect controller was completely voice-controlled. Players shout commands to their squad mates, and they follow your orders. Simply tell your character to activate a skill, and they will.

Players can also use the Kinect microphone in dialogue sequences.

Traditionally in RPG games, you use your controller buttons to pick phrases from the game’s discussion wheel to direct the flow of the protagonist’s responses. With the benefit of speech recognition technology, players do this with their voice instead.

In games like Mass Effect 3 , speech recognition technology radically simplifies the game’s controls while simultaneously allowing more complex gameplay action.

It’s more immersive – not only because yelling at your screen results in in-game action, but also because you never have to break the cinematic experience to pause your gameplay and jump into an abstract menu screen.

At its core, Flying Mollusk’s Nevermind is an adventure-horror game. You dive into the minds of psychological trauma patients for whom traditional treatment methods have proven ineffective.

In-game, you are a “Neuroprober” – a physician who, using cutting-edge technology, can enter the surreal subconscious of these victims and solve the puzzles of their minds and unlock the root of their trauma.

The Windows and Mac versions of Nevermind use biofeedback technology to detect the player’s feelings of stress and excitement while playing. When you start to become scared or anxious, the game will dynamically respond to those feelings, which in turn affects gameplay.

The biofeedback functionality is not essential to play Nevermind , but if you have an Apple Watch or a Garmin, you can plug in and start experiencing the tech for yourself.

Nevermind was developed to help players “become more mindful of their feelings of stress and anxiety levels and help them practice managing those feelings.”

How does this relate to voice? Nevermind’s biofeedback technology and voice-activated controls bring it to a whole new level of immersion because it considers not only what you say but how you say it. Stress levels in your voice affect gameplay.

Flying Mollusk even tackled the challenge of bringing Nevermind to an international audience. In fact, we helped conduct video game localization and localization testing for Nevermind into ten languages, including German, Spanish, Japanese, Korean, Russian, plus Simplified and Traditional Mandarin Chinese.

Voice-Activation Meets the App Store

Amazon is behind one of today’s most well-known smart speech recognition systems , and the company also invests in voice-activated game development through various accelerator programs.

Techstars x Amazon’s Alexa Accelerator accepted its first batch of incubator companies mid-2017, but what has really propelled Amazon’s Alexa forward as a bona fide platform is Amazon’s Alexa Skills Kit (ASK).

Alexa Skills allows third-party developers to create apps and tap into the power of Alexa without ever needing native support. In other words, video game designers can utilize the thousands of data strings Amazon has already collected and integrated into Alexa to their advantage.

Android Auto gives you the option to activate games by saying “Hey Google, play a game” while you’re in the car. On long road trips, you can

Android Auto gives you the option to activate games by saying “Hey Google, play a game” while you’re in the car. On long road trips, you can play a voice-controlled game of Jeopardy , for example.

Wayne Investigation

The Wayne Investigation is a skill developed by Warner Bros. to help promote Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice .

Combining speech recognition technology and produced audio assets (namely, compelling music and sound effects), The Wayne Investigation seems almost like an old-timey radio show with a modern technological twist.

Just say “Alexa, open The Wayne Investigation ” to begin.

The game models a “decision tree” format, explains Alexa Blogs writer Emily Roberts . “From three starting actions, users can make up to 37 decisions, each taking the user down paths that lead the player to new and iconic Gotham characters and locations before completing the game.”

During the first week, the game engaged seven times more (per weekly average) than all other skills combined. It earned top spot for both total time spent engaging with the skill and average time spent per user.

Other similar games that have been created include, Runescape Quests Skill: One Piercing Note , The Baker Street Experience , The Magic Door , and many more.

Chicken Scream

While some mobile games are based on complicated technology, some are simpler. We previously tested one of these simplified voice-activated apps for ourselves: Chicken Scream .

The only way to move your character along its journey across dangerous terrain is by using your voice. Stay silent to keep the chicken still, speak to move the chicken forward, and squawk loudly to make it jump.

The unique controls offer a nice change of pace from other games you find in the app store. The game doesn’t need to understand and interpret certain words or phrases. The removal of literal speech recognition opens it to be used by anyone, anywhere around the world.

There aren’t any language limitations or barriers for localization here. In fact, we even tested the app using chicken sounds from speakers of different languages around the world. This app, and others like it, are less intimidating examples of voice-activated technology.

Scream Go Hero is a similar game. You use your voice to move and jump between platforms, and the more you shout, the higher you jump.

A New Era in Voice-Controlled Games

Some people still favor the classic joystick/button and keyboard/mouse combinations to communicate with and control our characters on-screen. Games that make use speech recognition, though praised for their innovation, have yet to truly succeed in their mission. They haven’t ever quite moved past the novelty aspect of it all.

One of the major challenges is the vast amount of speech data needed to make it work. Collecting speech data at scale is a complex task, and video games need to work in concert with third-party providers who have spent years developing efficient workflows and technology.

And, as these partnerships do indeed start to form, the future of speech recognition technology in video games can become even more accurate, localized, and totally ubiquitous.

Games are a popular pastime for many people. They offer the opportunity to learn and practice skills such as problem-solving, decision-making, and collaboration.

As games grow in popularity, more companies are using them as effective learning tools for their employees.

Playing games for physical fitness can be a fun way of staying in shape. Games are designed to test your skills, endurance, and coordination.

Playing games for physical fitness is becoming popular with the rise of gaming culture and the popularity of video games. The most common game is “Pong” which is played on a table tennis-like surface with two players trying to score points by hitting a ball back and forth across the table. Other popular games include “Guitar Hero”, “Super Smash Brothers”, “Mario Kart” and “Tetris”.

There are many ways in which these games can be used for physical fitness such as:

– Playing these games at home or during free time to reduce sedentary behavior

– Playing these games in group settings such as gyms or sporting events

– Playing these games at work during lunch breaks or after work hours

A playground is a place where children can play, run and have fun in a safe environment. It is essential to provide children with the freedom to explore and learn new things.

Playgrounds are important for both the physical and cognitive development of children. They help them build their skills, improve coordination and social skills, develop creativity, and problem-solving abilities, and so on.

Although playgrounds are often considered an important part of childhood development, they are also crucial for adults who want to get back in shape or just need some time to relax.

2 Minute Speech On The Future Of Gaming In English

Good morning everyone present here, today I am going to give a speech on the future of gaming. Video games are played on platforms like video game consoles, personal computers, or handheld devices. These platforms can be huge like a mainframe computer or tiny like a mobile device. In the old times, the most common platform was arcade games.

Since the days of the Amiga, when graphics were blocky and pixelated, gaming has advanced significantly. Today’s photorealistic images immerse us in totally lifelike surroundings. Ray tracing, a method used in movies to provide real-time effects like glow and reflections, will be available on the PS5. It entails lighting effects that are highly realistic and increase your sense of immersion.

We may observe how gaming consoles changed throughout time. not only their speed, appearance, or operation. Modern graphics design is much better because of fantastic resolution and realistic-looking textures. Gaming consoles first appeared in the 1970s with just a game controller that had a joystick and one button; today, we have a huge variety of game genres and game controllers with dozens of buttons. These advancements in the gaming business happened quite quickly.

We will eventually play the game from inside. With the help of special glasses, cameras, and a moving platform, we will be able to move as though we were in a virtual environment. In barely 40 years, table tennis was transformed from using two white bars and a square ball to a virtual reality simulation. Thank you.

I have found ElevenLabs extremely useful in helping me create an audio book utilizing a clone of my own voice. Leveling Up My Vision With GUNNAR’s Call of Duty UAV Edition Gaming Glasses

Trevor houston, gunnar’s call of duty uav edition gaming glasses will protect your vision on the battlefield.

There comes a time in a gamer’s life when you have to come to terms with getting old. Don’t get me wrong, playing video games when you’re older is still fun, I love playing online with my COD crew and games just keep getting better. Yet, as you age that effortless joy of playing games can transform into a frustrating endeavor marked by diminishing reflexes, slower response times, and aches from hours spent staring at a screen. Not to mention eye strain is a recurring thing. It certainly was for me. Naturally, I was happy GUNNAR hooked me up with a pair of their Call of Duty UAV Edition gaming glasses. Sure, they don’t improve my reflexes and my kill/death ratio hasn’t improved, but one thing is for certain my eyes have never been happier.

One of the standout features of these gaming glasses is the aluminum-magnesium forged frame. I love the design and they feel expensive. Not to mention they are durable and remarkably lightweight. Lighter than my everyday reading glasses. I was able to wear the GUNNAR Call of Duty glasses for hours while the frames never really hurt my eyes. They are very comfortable and sturdy but also a bit flexible never really putting any pressure on my temples.

The adjustable nose pads which is a nice touch. I have a bigger melon with an average-sized nose, so it was nice to be able to adjust the nose pads to the size of my face. It also allowed for a good fit and they stayed securely in place during every gaming session.

a speech about gaming

The lenses themselves are pretty slick and are at the heart of these glasses. The G-Shield lens coating reduces glare, the lenses are smudge-resistant for clear vision at all times, and the oleophobic properties repel fingerprints and oils.

Not to mention it has blue light-blocking capability. Which helps protect your eyes from the potentially harmful effects of prolonged screen exposure. When you spend hours in front of a screen you’re exposed to a significant amount of blue light emitted by these devices. That blue light can cause digital eye strain, so it’s great these GUNNAR glasses filter out harmful blue light emissions. Apparently, this not only reduces eye strain but also promotes healthier sleep patterns by minimizing the disruptions caused by blue light exposure. Did I sleep better these past two weeks? No, but maybe this benefits others.

Beyond the lens technology, the Call of Duty UAV Edition glasses also provide 100% UV protection. Not that many play video games in a sunlit room, but this is a nice feature for those who game under bright lights, whoever you are…

It goes without saying these are officially licensed Call of Duty glasses with MWIII etched into both sides of the glasses. The aluminum frame features a mix of green camouflage-style colors. They are stylish looking and you won’t look weird wearing them.

a speech about gaming

Included with your purchase is a sturdy little glasses case, a microfiber pouch for on-the-go protection, and a cleaning cloth to keep your lenses pristine. Additionally, GUNNAR offers a 12-month warranty, which is perfect for me considering how reckless I am with my reading and sunglasses.

Not everyone needs to run out and buy GUNNAR’s Call of Duty UAV Edition Gaming Glasses but there comes a time when you get older, things just start breaking down. That includes your eyes. While these glasses won’t reverse father time, they will protect your eyes and reduce some of that eye strain you get from marathon gaming sessions. With a blend of rugged Call of Duty design, cutting-edge lens technology, and comfort-focused features, these glasses will elevate your gaming experience while protecting your eyes from the rigors of battle.

***The glasses were provided to COGconnected from GUNNAR ***
