Best emotional Speech on Kashmir day in English

My honor, Kashmiris have done what they could. But the history brings to light the question: O Pakistanis, what have you done for your fellow Kashmiris? They have suffered for a long – just because of their demand for annexation to Pakistani. What have you given in return? 

Let's recall today the message of Quaid-e-Azam, Muhammad Ali Jinnah, who, while addressing the Kashmiris laid the course of action for all of us. While addressing the Jammu and Kashmir Muslim Conference on 26 Oct 1946 – he remarkably said: 

My message and earnest appeal to Muslim leadership in Kashmir is: Organize your people, educationally, socially, economically and politically and set your hand on constructive nation building programme.

Mr. President, we need to revive our conscience, awake our senses and follow the call to action. This day should not merely be a commemorative day. It should be the day of allegiance. The day of pledging allegiance to the cause. Kashmir will never be sovereign, Mr. President, unless we get to fix the internal cracks in Muslim Ummah. Unless the sectarian fire is extinguished. 

Unless our Muslim stakeholders take pain for Kashmiris. Unless the Kashmir dispute is voiced well in the international community. Unless the world comes to know the heinous atrocities of so-called democratic India in Kashmir over seventy years. Unless we are united. Unless we are devoted. Let's make a vow to God, to our conscience, to our blood – for surfacing the Kashmir issue with all zeal and zest. 

With the immense hope that one day the sun of independence will dawn upon the beautiful valley. And our fellow Kashmiris will have a peaceful and prosperous life. As Faiz Ahmed Faiz writes: 

And we oppressed Beneath our feet will have this earth shiver, shake and beat And heads of rulers will be struck With crackling lightening and thunder roars.

Indian throne will soon be reduced to ashes; Kashmir will be ours! Pakistan Zindabad!

Today I bring the topic of 5 February Kashmir Day Speech for School in English under my discussion in simple worlds. Kashmir Solidarity Day or simply the Kashmir Day is illustrated by the harmony of Pakistanis and Kashmiris in the favor of the nation of Jammu Kashmir is the state of Pakistan but not of India. Well, here before starting the details of my speech, I would like to differentiate the Azad Kashmir and Jammu Kashmir. These are two states of Kashmir where the Azad Kashmir comes under the regimen of Pakistan, while the Jammu Kashmir is also a state of Kashmir which is administrated by India. Back in August 1947, when Pakistan and India were separated from sub-continent as two independent countries the Kashmir officially came under the territory of Pakistan, but the then-prime minister of Kashmir was Maharaja Hari Singh who said that Kashmir will be the part of India. Later that it was decided that the Kashmir will be tore into parts; Azad Kashmir and Jammu Kashmir. Since then till date, Kashmir is a bone of contention between India and Pakistan.

Kashmir Day Holiday In Pakistan:

After the anticipation of Kashmir Day, the government of Pakistan decided that on this day all the public and private schools, universities, offices even all the works will be shut down for a general public Kashmir day holiday in Pakistan. The purpose for endorsing this holiday is to convey a missive towards the oppressed Kashmiri Nation that we are with them at all and wishing to get an Independent Kashmir from Indian’s maltreating.

History of Kashmir Day 5 February:

Before 1990, there was no any concept of Kashmir day was originated, but in 1990 the Then-Prime Minister of Pakistan Mian Nawaz Sharif called a meeting under the supervision of Pakistan Army and the Jamaat-e-Islami and proposed the 5 February for the Kashmir Solidarity Day. Since then to now, not only in Pakistan but all over the world people use to arrange different arrangements to keep them alive in the sight of the nation so that the people could be aware of the importance of Kashmir and the vote of Kashmiris for the favor of Pakistan.

Kashmir Day Celebration in Schools:

Almost each school officials arranges different Kashmir day celebration in schools to highlight the importance and significances of this day.  The new generation is getting back to the history of Pakistan. They are not taking that topic in their books which can aware them about the importance of Pakistani history so that is why such celebrations make students aware of the motivations to set their goals to take some special steps in the betterment of Kashmir the state of Pakistan. The different stage play is arranged where the students dressed in Pak Army uniform and the Kashmiris citizen who are bearing the oppression of the Indian Army.

Conclusion:

The conclusion says that the officials especially the Pakistan Army can only hold this situation with the unity of Kashmiri and Pakistani nation. They both have to stand up at the same time and put the case to get officially the right to get Kashmir in the favor of Pakistan. These steps will prove better for the formation of a new Kashmir which will be the independent part of Pakistan.

Kashmir Day Poetry, Quotes, Speech, Posters, History and Songs

Kashmir day is also known as “Kashmir Solidarity Day” in Pakistan. In 1990, the Chief Minister of Punjab Nawaz Sharif called the political and religious parties to celebrate 5th February as Solidarity Day with the Kashmiris.

So, for the first time, the Kashmir day was celebrated on 5th Feb in 1990. He appealed the people to protest against India that has occupied a big part of Kashmir and does not let the Kashmiris live in the peaceful state.

So, the appeal was followed by the Pakistanis, and there were rallies, protest processions, speeches and prayers for the Kashmiri freedom movement across the land. The ruling party declared the day as a “Public Holiday” at that time.

The day is recognized on the international level. Now, every year on 5th Feb, Pakistanis celebrates Kashmir Day to support their Kashmiri Brethren in their struggle against the atrocities of Indian.

The people living in occupied Kashmir have been making efforts to breathe in the free air for the last seven decades. The Indian armed forces interrupt their freedom and have occupied their lands forcefully. They are struggling to set their country free and to live with freedom from India. Pakistanis support their aim, and they stand united with the Kashmiri people against India.

It is equally important for political parties and religious parties in Pakistan and Azad Jammu Kashmir. The political and religious parties in both the lands organize rallies, processions, conferences, and seminars to show their devotion towards their Kashmiri Brethren.

Kashmir Day Poetry

The leaders and spokespersons of the parties make speeches to show their unity and devotion towards Kashmir and Kashmiri people. The people of Pakistan make the freedom movement of Kashmiris strengthened against Indian occupation. Kashmiris hate Indian occupation on their lands, and they are making struggle and sacrificing their lives to set their country free out of the foreign occupation. The Kashmiris want to live a free life and India wants to keep Kashmir as an Indian territory forcibly. However, Pakistan supports Kashmiri people and their freedom to live as an independent state.

Initially, the Kashmir Solidarity day was observed in Pakistan. Now it has been observed on international levels. Pakistanis wherever they are, celebrate this day to show solidarity and devotion towards Kashmiris. For this purpose, the poets from various parts of the world write heart touching poems. The poems also show how much passionate love they are bearing in their hearts for Kashmir. Here, I am going to give a few examples of the poetry on Kashmir day. The poets from Pakistan, Kashmir and even from other countries have written about the freedom of Kashmir to make the world aware of the unjust and forceful occupation of India over Kashmir. soaking in the pouring rain,

and sweet sun,

and everything else,

they could not bring along,

and their little ones,

who did not return home,

after they went to play,

soon after the day,

when snow in the valley

had melted away!

Poem: Kashmiri Hates India

They set off explosives in their roots,

and separated them from their lands,

I wonder, what did they whisper in their ears,

and separated them from their lands?

The snow storms hit the valley, striking Chinars,

where would the fallen Chinars go now?

They will dry up, and set ablaze,

we all know that,

we all know, that their ashes

would still like to return

but to their valleys only.

Kashmir Day Quotes

Kashmir Day is not a day when people get a public holiday in Pakistan. It has become a very important day for Pakistanis. On this day, they stand united to show their devotions for Kashmir and Kashmiri people. They send different SMS and quotes to their friends and relatives to show solidarity with Kashmiri brethren.

They are fighting a continuous war to get freedom from the Indian occupation. Indian armed forces are trying to press their voices for freedom by slaughtering the Kashmiris. But they cannot make their voices silent as Pakistanis are standing with them united. The 5th Feb is a symbol of Kashmiris’ voice on the international forum so that they could get their rights and live a free life.

Pakistan is always with them in every difficult time so that they could not be suppressed by the Indian forces. They make a big nation, and they need to decide their fate by a freedom referendum. Pakistan supports their rights as they are also human beings beyond their religion. Indian does not want to let the occupied land go. That’s why it is violating human rights and wants then Kashmiris to be Indian slaves forever. However, Pakistan supports the Kashmir resolution and their freedom movement wholeheartedly. On the issue of Kashmir, all ruling and opposition parties, religious parties and even the people from every walk of life are united.

It does not matter they are living in Pakistan thousands of miles away from Kashmiri people. Still, their hearts beat with Kashmiris all the time. On 5th Feb, there are different seminars and rallies in all over Pakistan to pay tribute to Kashmiris for sacrificing their lives for the freedom movement. In Pakistan, 5th Feb is observed as a public holiday that was first observed in 1990 in Pakistan.

It was not only in 1990, but in 1975, Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto, the then president of Pakistan announced a nationwide strike on 5th February. It was announced to support Kashmiris in their freedom movement and to ensure Pakistani support for them in every crucial moment.

Kashmiris are sacrificing their lives for the security of their lands, and till now, Indian armed forces are helpless before Kashmiri people. The Kashmiri people hate India and Indian forces. They do not want them to interrupt their freedom. They want to get their country back from foreign occupation and want to live a free life.

Pakistan supports the rights of Kashmiri people and wants India to set the land free and let the Kashmiri people live a peaceful life. But India has occupied Kashmir due to its geographical importance. Kashmiris are entirely resolute to make their land free of foreign occupation.

They want to aware the rest of the world about the atrocities of the Indian armed forces on Kashmiris. So, in the entire world, 5th Feb is observed as a day when Kashmiri people and even Pakistan can represent the rights of Kashmiris. It is on 5th Feb that different parties, religious leaders and organizations hold seminars to let the world know what is going on in Kashmir. They make the people aware of the cruelties of India over the Kashmiris.

Now, some straightforward people in Indian media also support fairly to Kashmiri people’s rights. They also want the Kashmiris to decide their own fate. So, due to the media, there is great awareness to the people of the world regarding what is going on in Kashmir and what should be the solution.

Every year Pakistan observes 5th Feb as a Kashmir Day. This day is very important in the lives of Pakistanis whether living in Pakistan or abroad. Every Pakistani observes 5th Feb as a solidarity day for Kashmiri Brethren.

They pay tribute to Kashmiris for struggling against the cruelties and atrocities of Indian armed forces by sending them SMS, quotes, posters and even videos regarding 5th Feb. Kashmir Day is not only a public holiday for Pakistanis but also a reminder for the rest of the world regarding the sacrifices of Kashmiris and their usurped rights by the Indian Armed Forces.

On this day, Pakistani people use to send SMS and posters showing devotion and a new inspiration for the freedom movement of Kashmir. The poster competitions are held in different organizations to encourage them to make unique and novel posters regarding 5th Feb. Kashmir day is not only considered important in Pakistan but also Azad Jammu Kashmir.

They also observe this day as a Solidarity Day for the people living in the occupied part of Kashmir. Many people participate in poster and speech competitions to show their skills and talent. The only purpose of organizing such competitions is to show the Kashmiris and the world that Kashmir is still bleeding and Pakistan is standing united with Kashmiris in every crucial time. In various parts of the country, the people make a human-made chain of hands to show the unity with the Kashmiris in their difficult times.

Kashmir Day History

Kashmir Solidarity Day is observed officially in Pakistan on 5th Feb every year. The first time, it was observed in 1975 when the President of Pakistan, Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto declared that there would be a nationwide strike on 5th Feb to show devotion for Kashmir resolution. Later, In 1990, Qazi Hussain Ahmad suggested the ruling party of Pakistan to announce 5th Feb as a Solidarity Day to Kashmiri people. The then Chief Minister of Punjab, Nawaz Sharif declared 5th Feb as a public holiday to show the solidarity towards Kashmiri people. The question arises that what happened at that time that the CM Punjab announced this day as a solidarity day? Let me explain. In 1990, the Indian Government appointed a new governor of Occupied Kashmir to Gug Mohan. Kashmiris protested against this decision, and they boycotted the new governor to show the world the true face of India. It was a historic protest when the Indian forces brutally martyred a large number of Kashmiri people. The aroma of their blood was prevailing in the entire Kashmir valley. They were tortured by the Indian forces brutally for protesting against the Indian government. However, no cruelty could make them retreated from their resolution. So, 5th Feb was declared a solidarity day in Pakistan by the then CM Punjab.

So, It has been a part of Pakistan public holidays since 1990. It is not observed as a public holiday, however. The people belonging to different walks of life organize various speech and post competitions to show the world how Kashmiris are struggling against the foreign occupation. The people in Pakistan show their support to Kashmiris in their struggle against Indian armed forces.

Kashmir Day Songs

Kashmir Day is celebrated as a solidarity day in Pakistan. On this occasion, Pakistani people pay tribute to Kashmiris and stand united with them in their difficult times. Pakistani singers do not forget them and compose different songs to make the Kashmiris well aware of the support of Pakistani people with them. It is celebrated officially as a solidarity day for Kashmiri brethren. Even the official media channel of Pakistani armed forces releases the songs on this memorable day to commemorate the memories of martyred Kashmiris.

Kashmir has a rich and complex history that dates back centuries. It has been a region of great cultural and religious diversity, with influences from Buddhism, Hinduism, Christianity, and Islam. In the 13th century, Islam became the dominant religion in the valley, and Muslims ruled the region for over five centuries. However, during the partition of the Indian subcontinent in 1947, Kashmir became a disputed territory between India and Pakistan.

Since then, Kashmir has been a hotbed of conflict, with both India and Pakistan claiming sovereignty over the entire region. The people of Kashmir have been caught in the crossfire, enduring violence, human rights abuses, and a denial of their right to self-determination. The conflict has resulted in the loss of thousands of lives and has left a lasting impact on the region’s socio-political landscape.

Pakistan’s policy towards Kashmir Pakistan has consistently supported the Kashmiri people’s struggle for self-determination and has called for a peaceful resolution to the conflict. The country has raised the Kashmir issue on various international platforms, highlighting the human rights abuses committed by Indian forces in the region. Pakistan’s stance is based on the principles of justice, international law, and the right of Kashmiris to decide their own future.

The significance of Kashmir Day Kashmir Day holds immense significance for Pakistan as it provides an opportunity to express solidarity with the people of Kashmir and raise awareness about their plight. Political and religious leaders deliver speeches, highlighting the human rights abuses committed by Indian forces and calling for a peaceful resolution to the conflict. Mosques and other religious institutions organize special prayers and Quran readings for the well-being of the Kashmiri people and regional peace.

International Recognition and Support

The Kashmir issue has garnered international attention, with various countries and organizations recognizing the need for a peaceful settlement and the protection of human rights in the region. In 2021, the New York State Assembly passed a resolution calling on the Governor of New York to recognize February 5th as Kashmir American Day. This resolution aimed to champion human rights, including the freedom of religion, and recognize the contributions of the Kashmiri community in New York.

The Kashmir conflict remains one of the most protracted and unresolved disputes in the world. It is a complex issue with deep-rooted historical, political, and religious dimensions. The international community has a crucial role to play in facilitating a peaceful resolution and ensuring the protection of human rights in the region.

The revocation of Article 370 by the Indian government in 2019 further escalated tensions in Kashmir. This move not only violated the rights of Kashmiris but also undermined the UN resolutions that called for the region’s final disposition to be determined through a plebiscite. The international community must hold India accountable for its actions and push for a peaceful settlement that respects the aspirations of the Kashmiri people.

Kashmir Day serves as a powerful reminder of the ongoing struggle for freedom and self-determination in Indian-administered Jammu and Kashmir. It is a day of solidarity and support, where Pakistan stands united with the Kashmiri people in their quest for justice and peace. The international community must join hands in finding a just and lasting solution to the Kashmir conflict, one that respects the rights and aspirations of the Kashmiri people.

In my opinion, Kashmir Day holds immense significance not only for Pakistan but for the international community as well. The Kashmir conflict is not just a territorial dispute; it is a struggle for the fundamental rights and freedoms of the Kashmiri people. The human rights abuses committed in the region cannot be ignored or overlooked.

It is essential for the international community to recognize the gravity of the situation and take concrete steps to address the issue. Diplomatic pressure, dialogue, and mediation efforts should be intensified to facilitate a peaceful resolution that respects the will of the Kashmiri people.

Furthermore, the suffering of the Kashmiri people should not be confined to a single day of solidarity. The international community must continue to raise awareness about the ongoing human rights abuses in Kashmir and advocate for justice and accountability.

Kashmir Day serves as a powerful reminder that the struggle for Kashmiri independence is far from over. It is a day to reaffirm our commitment to supporting the Kashmiri people in their quest for justice and peace. Let us not forget the sacrifices made by the Kashmiris and work towards a future where they can exercise their right to self-determination.

From an analysis perspective, the Kashmir conflict remains a complex issue with no easy solutions. The historical, political, and religious dimensions of the conflict make it challenging to find a peaceful resolution. However, it is essential to continue diplomatic efforts and engage all stakeholders in meaningful dialogue.

The international community has a crucial role to play in facilitating a peaceful settlement. The United Nations, in particular, should take a more proactive approach and ensure the implementation of its resolutions on Kashmir. The human rights abuses committed in the region must be thoroughly investigated, and those responsible should be held accountable. Furthermore, all parties involved in the conflict should prioritize the well-being and aspirations of the Kashmiri people. Their voices should be heard, and their right to self-determination should be respected. Only through a genuine commitment to peace, dialogue, and justice can a lasting solution to the Kashmir conflict be achieved.

MUZAFFARABAD: Prime Minister Imran Khan on Wednesday said that it was his belief that Kashmir will now be liberated soon due to the annexation plan implemented by the Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi in the occupied territory, ARY NEWS reported.

The prime minister was addressing a special session of the Legislative Assembly of the Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) on occasion of Kashmir Solidarity Day.

Modi has committed a blunder on August 05 and he could not step back from it now, he said adding that his entire campaign was based on anti-Pakistan rhetoric and was bent upon implementing his extremist RSS-ideology after coming into power.

I raised the Kashmir issue at every international forum and exposed the RSS-agenda followed by the incumbent Indian government, he said.

The prime minister said that he raised the issue with Donald Trump thrice as repeating it once would not matter due to the business interests between the two states.

He said that the citizenship bill has endangered all minorities in India and the RSS goons are now operating as Hitler in the country.

“The true face of India is now exposed before the international community and they also realized that a movement has initiated from within the state against such policies,” he said.

Imran Khan said history has proved that Hindutva-thinking has led to mass killings in the past. “The world has started to understand our narrative on the issue as policies-based on hatred will always bring dictator and bloodbath.”

Earlier in the day, the prime minister reached Muzaffarabad on Wednesday morning, where he was presented with a guard of honour.

He was accompanied by Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi, Federal Minister for Kashmir Affairs and Gilgit-Baltistan Ali Amin Gandapur and Chairman of Special Committee on Kashmir Syed Fakhar Imam.

The nation is observing Kashmir Solidarity Day today for giving a united message to the world for standing besides Kashmiris facing unprecedented atrocities in Indian occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IOJK) amid inhumane curfew and Pakistan’s support to the self-determination right of Kashmiri people under the United Nations (UN) resolutions.

In his message, Prime Minister Imran Khan  said India has turned 8 million Kashmiris into prisoners in their own land through the deployment of over 900,000 occupation troops.

He said Pakistan demands the immediate lifting of the military siege and communications blackout as well as rescinding of India’s illegal and unilateral actions.

The prime minister said all those illegally arrested and incarcerated should be released and the draconian laws enabling impunity to Indian occupation forces be immediately repealed.

Kashmir Solidarity Day: A Day To Remember The Plight Of Kashmiris – OpEd

Kashmir Solidarity Day, observed on February 5 th every year, is a day dedicated to showing support and solidarity with the people of Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu& Kashmir (IIOJK) and to raising awareness about their legitimate struggle for self-determination. It has its roots in the 1990s when the Indian government deployed hundreds of thousands of troops in the region and imposed strict curfews and restrictions on the movement of the local population.

The day has since been observed annually to raise awareness about the human rights abuses faced by the people of Kashmir and to call for the international community to play their due role to resolve the long standing issue. The day is celebrated by individuals, organizations, and governments across the world, including Pakistan and the Kashmiri diaspora. The celebration serves as a reminder of the human rights abuses faced by the people of Kashmir and calls on the international community to take action to address the situation in IIOJK. 

For decades, the people of IIOJK have been subjected to human rights abuses, including restrictions on their political, civil, and economic freedoms. The Indian government has deployed hundreds of thousands of troops in the region and imposed strict curfews and restrictions on the movement of the Kashmiri population. In recent years, the situation in IIOJK has worsened, with the Indian government revoking the region’s special status, which has further entrenched the Indian military presence in the region. The revocation of the special status has also led to widespread protests and increased tensions in the region, leading to human rights abuses and restrictions on the political, civil, and economic freedoms of the local population. 

The UN has long recognized the right of the people of Kashmir to self-determination, as enshrined in the UN Charter and numerous resolutions. However, the UN has so far failed to take meaningful action to address the situation in Kashmir and ensure the implementation of these resolutions. The UN has failed to exert sufficient pressure on the Indian government to respect the rights of the Kashmiri people and end the human rights abuses being committed by the Indian forces.  This has allowed the Indian government to continue its oppressive policies against the Kashmiri people.

The international community, including the UN, has failed to provide justice and fulfil the promise of the right of self-determination to the people of Kashmir. Despite the international community’s promises and efforts, the situation in Kashmir remains dire, and the people of Kashmir continue to face human rights abuses and restrictions. This raises questions about the failure of the international community, and the UN to provide justice and fulfil the promise of the right of self-determination to the people of Kashmir.

In the past year, the situation in Indian-administered Kashmir has become increasingly alarming, with reports of increased human rights abuses, restrictions on political and civil freedoms, and the continued military presence of Indian security forces. Pakistan has been at the forefront of raising awareness about the ongoing human rights abuses in IIOJK and has called for the international community to take action to hold the Indian government accountable. 

The ongoing situation in Kashmir is a clear example of the failure of the international community, particularly the UN, to provide justice and fulfil the promise of the right of self-determination to the people of Kashmir. The international community must take immediate action to address the situation and ensure the rights of the Kashmiri people are respected. The international community must continue to raise awareness about the human rights abuses in the region and pressure the Indian government to respect the rights of the Kashmiri people. The people of Kashmir deserve justice, and the international community must work together to ensure that justice is served.

The continued human rights abuses faced by the Kashmiri people demand the world’s attention and action, and it is the world’s responsibility to work toward a just and peaceful future for the Kashmiri people. The international community must take action to address the ongoing human rights abuses in Indian-administered Kashmir and to hold the Indian government accountable. The UN and other international organizations must pressure the Indian government to respect the rights of the Kashmiri people, including their right to self-determination. 

Also, Pakistan must continue to raise awareness about the situation in Kashmir and the human rights abuses being committed by the Indian government. The Pakistani government must also provide support and assistance to the Kashmiri people, including the provision of humanitarian aid and the protection of their human rights. The Pakistani government must also engage in diplomatic efforts to address the situation and work with the international community to ensure the implementation of the right of self-determination for the people of Kashmir

This year’s Kashmir Solidarity Day is a call to action for the international community to address the ongoing human rights abuses in IIOJK and to stand in solidarity with the Kashmiri people. In view of the ongoing human rights violations, it is imperative that the international community, particularly the UN, take concrete steps to hold the Indian government accountable and bring an end to the suffering of the Kashmiri people. Furthermore, Pakistan, as a vocal advocate for the rights of Kashmiris, needs to continue its efforts to bring the issue to the forefront of the international discourse and build a consensus for a just resolution of the conflict. On this day, let us stand in solidarity with the people of Kashmir and work towards securing a better future for them.

Kashmir Solidarity Day has been observed in Pakistan on 5 February every year since 1990.

The occasion is an annual demonstration of Pakistan’s support for the people of the disputed northern territory of Jammu and Kashmir, administered by India since partition in 1947.

It provides a platform for the expression of support for Kashmiri separatists living in one of the most highly-militarised zones in the world and an opportunity to remember those killed in the three wars between India and Pakistan over the region – in 1947, 1965 and 1999 – and during the region’s frequent border skirmishes.

A one-minute silence will be held on Tuesday, a public holiday, at 10am local time in honour of the dead. President Arif Alvi will address the Legislative Assembly in Muzaffrabad while human chains will be formed at the border towns of Kohala, Mangla, Holar and Azad Pattan.

Indian prime minister Narendra Modi visited Srinagar on 3 February under heavy security to inaugurate a string of infrastructure projects and call for unity against terrorism while the separatist Joint Resistance Leadership (JRL) called for a general strike in protest at Mr Modi’s presence.

“A person who, in his pursuit of crushing Kashmiri resistance, ordered killings and the damaging of properties, hurt the Kashmiri economy and ordered other oppressive measures, deserves only a protest from those he has oppressed”, the JRL said in a statement.

Violence most recently erupted in December 2018 when seven civilians were killed and 40 injured when Indian troops pursuing militants ran into marching demonstrators, who were accused of throwing stones at the military to help the rebels escape. Three militants and a soldier were also killed in the clashes and another member of the armed forces wounded.

It was hoped the election of former cricketer Imran Khan as Pakistan’s prime minister in July last year would herald a new dawn for the Muslim-majority Himalayan region and Mr Khan initially sought to strike a concilliatory note: “If India takes one step towards us, we will take two.”

The eruption of a war of words between ambassadors at the UN just a month later seemed to suggest an unwelcome return to business as usual.

The recent history of the region has been littered with such disappointments. After decades of competing claims, violence, accusations and counter-accusations, relations between India and Pakistan improved substantially during Mr Modi’s first two years in power, boding well for talks on the future of Kashmir.

But this brief period of harmony came to an end in 2016 following a spate of attacks on Indian diplomatic and military assets in response to the killing of Burhan Wani, leader of the Hizbul Mujahideen militant organisation.

Every year on  February  5 Pakistan observes Kashmir Solidarity Day. It aims to demonstrate Pakistan’s support and solidarity with the people of Indian-occupied Kashmir, and their continuing liberation struggle, and to honor Kashmiri martyrs who sacrificed their lives fighting for Kashmir’s independence.

Every year, on Kashmir  Solidarity Day,  Pakistan expresses its political, moral, and diplomatic support for the righteous fight of our Kashmiri brothers and becomes its voice in the international forums.

Kashmir’s discord carries historical as well as contemporary events that hinder its political future.

H istorical account of the humiliation of Kashmir’s people

The history of conflict dates back to 1947. In the June 3 plan , the princely state offered a choice between India and Pakistan. Maharaja Hari Singh deceived Pakistan and ceded Kashmir to India through a standstill agreement, which sparked an uprising of Pashtun tribesmen and the Hindu nationalists and RSS to organize a program against Muslims, killing between 20,000 and 100,000 Muslims. On October 27 , 1947, Indian troops landed in Kashmir to fight against the Pashtuns and the local armies; this led to the first India-Pakistan war. During the war, India’s prime minister, Jawaharlal Nehru , promised a referendum:  “The fate of Jammu and Kashmir is ultimately decided by the people; the pledge we have given is not only to the people of Kashmir but also to the world.” “We will not and cannot back out of it.”

India referred the dispute to the United Nations a little more than two months later. A resolution passed on August 13, 1948, asking both nations to withdraw their forces; once that happened, a referendum was to be held, allowing the people of Kashmir to decide their political future. But the Indian troops were never withdrawn, and the referendum never happened. On January 1, 1949, the ceasefire was agreed upon, and Kashmir became a disputed territory. Over the next 70 years, India and Pakistan fought three wars over Kashmir.

In Indian-administrated Kashmir, India maintains around 600,000 troops in Kashmir, who have committed human rights violations like rape, torture, and enforced disappearances that continue today. The number of people killed in Kashmir is estimated to be between 50,000 and 100,000 , which shows the ruthlessness of the so- called largest democracy in the world.

Situation after the abolishment of articles 370 and 35A

On August 5, 2019 , the Indian government abrogated Article 370 and Article 35A of the Indian Constitution, which granted Jammu and Kashmir a special status and autonomy. The Indian government enforced a curfew, disrupted communication connections, arrested political leaders, and deployed extra soldiers in the area, generating widespread resentment and demonstrations.

Since the abolition of Articles 370 and 35A , human rights abuses and violations in Kashmir have increased significantly, with claims of widespread mass arrests, torture, and extrajudicial executions by Indian security personnel. The Indian government has also restricted freedom of speech, assembly, and the press, making it impossible for citizens to openly express their thoughts and report on the state of the area.

In addition, the Indian government has been accused of fostering demographic changes in the area through the settlement of Hindu migrants, which has resulted in a fall in the percentage of the Muslim population and degradation of the Kashmiri people’s distinctive cultural and religious identity.

International human rights groups have shown concern about the situation in Kashmir and demanded an independent investigation into the reported human rights breaches and abuses. About 87 civilians have been killed by the Indian forces since the abrogation of Article 370. The international community has also advocated for a peaceful settlement to the issue that takes the Kashmiri people’s rights and interests into consideration.

The situation in Kashmir remains severe, and the continuous violence and human rights violations continue to provide the international community with a formidable task. The region’s political future is still unknown, and a sustainable resolution to the war has not yet been found.

Pakistan’s Advocacy for Kashmir

Pakistan has made several attempts to resolve the ongoing conflict in Kashmir and has sought international backing for its stance on the matter. Pakistan has repeatedly discussed the Kashmir issue at the United Nations and other international forums, stressing the need for a peaceful settlement of the conflict based on the self-determination principle and the right of the Kashmiri people to choose their destiny. Pakistan has also made diplomatic attempts to garner international support for its viewpoint, notably via the Organization of Islamic Cooperation and the Non-Aligned Movement.

Pakistan has also endeavored to provide political , diplomatic, and moral assistance for the Kashmiri resistance movement. India has accused Pakistan of financing terrorism in the area based on information that Pakistan supports separatist organizations in the region. Pakistan has denied these allegations and advocated for a peaceful settlement according to UN Resolution 47 (1948), which calls for a ceasefire, and UN Resolution 51 (1948), which calls for a plebiscite to be held in the region to determine the will of the Kashmiri people.

Despite these attempts, the situation in Kashmir remains unresolved, and a permanent resolution to the conflict has not yet been reached. The issue remains a significant source of conflict between India and Pakistan and a problem for the international community.

Conclusion:

Kashmir’s political future remains uncertain and is the subject of ongoing discussion and negotiation between India and Pakistan, as well as international engagement.

Currently, the territory is split between India and Pakistan, with India administering the greater part and Pakistan the smaller. The Line of Control (LoC), which divides the two managed territories, has often been the scene of tension and bloodshed.

There have been appeals for a peaceful conclusion that takes the rights and interests of the Kashmiri people into consideration. Some have suggested the concept of “self-determination,” in which the people of Kashmir would have the right to choose their destiny through a referendum or a negotiated solution between India and Pakistan.

Kashmir’s political future is unpredictable and vulnerable to the continuous dynamics of the war as well as the shifting political and strategic objectives of the major regional countries. The international community still has a big part to play in finding a solution, and India, Pakistan, and the other countries in the area are likely to have to be involved and support any lasting solution.
