Essay guidelines.
1. Essays must answer the question: “Why are you pro-life?” 2. Essays must be 300-500 words in length. 3. Essays must be double spaced with the pages numbered. Use no smaller than 12 pt. font. 4. Cite any sources used. 5. Please do not include artwork, pictures, or plastic covers. 6. Include a cover sheet that includes the following: full name, full mailing address, phone number, student’s grade level, student’s date of birth, parent’s name, and word count.
Submission Guidelines
1. Essays should be submitted between Dec. 20, 2023, and Jan. 21, 2024. Essays must be postmarked by Jan. 21, 2024. 2. Please mail the essay. Electronic submissions will only be accepted under special circumstances. 3. Essays may be submitted to: NRLC, Scott Fischbach, 1446 Duke St., Alexandria, VA 22314 4. By submitting an entry, the contestant and parent or guardian confirm that the essay is original, but not copyrighted, and agree to allow National Right to Life to reprint the essay if it wins. Enter the Grand Rapids Right to Life Prolife Essay Contest.
Students in grades 7-9 participate in the Junior Essay Contest, while students in grades 10-12 participate in the Senior Essay Contest.
Cash prizes are awarded in each contest for first ($100) and second ($50) place.
All submissions will be entered in the National Right to Life Essay Contest for a chance to win additional cash prizes.
Essay Guidelines
- Typed in 12-point font
- Double-spaced
- Page-numbered
- 300 – 500 words
- Properly cited (if statistics or quotes are used)

ALL judges commented that there were so many— in fact, ALL 34 essays, were positively wonderful. Selecting only one winner for each division was HARD.

Our Youth Outreach activities and contests encourage students of all ages to learn more about pro-life issues that reflect their values and beliefs regarding the sanctity of life. Arkansas Right to Life promotes three national contests in our state designed to help students do just that. They are the Essay Contest, Oratory Contest, and Video Contest. We also promote our Arkansas Camp Joshua pro-life camp , which will be held July 26-28, 2024.

It can help each individual pro-life student learn and understand not only what is at stake in abortion but how they can help. There are two separate competitions.
