What's the best way to get research notes?

Food doesn't work anymore and neither do potions. What do I need to craft that is cheap that still works with research kits?

Some food still works, if you're into fishing you can make sushi at chef's station and salvage those with research kits.

I made some mighty bronze axes too since it's just copper and cheat T1 mats

Some crafted potions work but not all.  Last I checked (yesterday), the Weak ones didn't but Minor and above did.  That may have changed today, though, since ANet seems to want to pull the rug out from under us on this issue; i.e. "You can salvage crafted items... except when you can't."

I personaly did craft a lot of loafs of bread in the last days. All ingredients can be buyed by the npc next to the cooking stadion.

1 Research note costs 16 copper and 14 Karma.

Minor potions and higher work now, but no low level food.

Where's the sushi recipe? I remember one asking for it on ampchat but nobody knew themselves. Would be great because I'm doing a lot of fishing at the moment for the collections and with ahving the new legendaries in mind.

It's under 'Feed' no need to unlock as far as i know, just was there

I salvaged all of my dungeon potions though you only get 1:1 ration but I had multiple stacks saved up from launch. Also, salvaging ascended weapons (that were crafted) gave a bunch.

Honestly I'm getting confused at why they keep disabling items since I thought the point of the Research Kit was to eat up all the low-value items from the econemy, but it instead feels like they want us to salvage high-value items which are already in a short supply/demand in comparison.

They also could've easily fixed this by giving 1 Research Note per 10 levels of the item, then multiplying all Research Note costs by 4 so a lv40 item would be the same as now, and a lv80 item would give twice as much as they do at the moment. That would be a good compromise, I think.

I don't know, alot of the fixes for this expansion since release have been kind of strange.

Pretty sure it was made because people kept complaining they have nothing to do with ascended items that drop after obtaining legendaries. You're also able to salvage any ascended feasts or exotic crafted weapons/armor so it's also relevant for people upgrading to ascended.

Surely there aren't that many players with legendaries who have ascended items to burn?

You get ascended drops quite often in fractals which means any weapon box immediately is salvage fodder if you have any legendaries or ascended already, the raid ones usually salvage into magnetite or gaetling crystals. You are also able to salvage crafted exotics not just ascended.

OTC says to use Maize Balm. its dirt cheap and is craftable so it SHOULD work. I did it with my research notes. - let me know if it works for you bub

It is probably to give lower tier stuff some value which is why the ones that can be bought from a vendor got nuked. It's just that they went overboard and also nuked everything made with those items as well.

I'm more curious about who the heck thought it was a good idea to require this crap for the ascended gear. 150 notes for a friggen sigil. On top of that, crafting exotics barely rewards you with anything worth while. This bs isn't what I would call fun.

Grilled portobello mushrooms worked two days ago…1:1 ratio.  Might give them a try.

Was using Cup of Light-Roasted Coffee while ago, but no idea if it still works. These gave 1-3 notes per kit.

if its crafted, you can break it. The items rarity yields more notes.

Dolja's Research Notes is a book found during the Tower of Nightmares story step. It is located in The Nightmare Incarnate story instance; northeast corner of map, laying on the ground.

I'll share my ruminations with Makkay when I see her next, but the emergence of the Toxic Alliance raises so many new questions about the krait and their situation in the deeper ocean . Current academic discourse suggests that the krait, among other species of the ocean, are contending with an Elder Dragon or its abyssal minions—at least, according to the accounts of quaggan refugees. Of course, the threat could also be something of the late Zhaitan 's influence. Too soon to tell.

Based on what we know, when the krait's prophets ascend, the location of ascension is often marked with a small obelisk . These prophets are said to have traveled to a new plane, popularly theorized to be some crude form of Mists transversal. The krait believe that these prophets will return with a new army to dominate Tyria from its depths to its shores, but no such event has been seen and recorded.

Has this Scarlet Briar offered the krait some way to contact their lost prophets, and maybe even bring them back from wherever they ended up? How do the Nightmare Court factor into all of this, if at all?
