ਇਸ ਤੋਂ ਬਿਨਾਂ ਇਸ ਤਿਓਹਾਰ ਨਾਲ ਇਕ ਹੋਰ ਲੋਕ- ਗਾਥਾ ਵੀ ਸੰਬੰਧਤ ਹੈ।ਇਕ ਗ਼ਰੀਬ ਬ੍ਰਾਹਮਣ ਸੀ। ਉਸ ਦੀਆਂ ਸੁੰਦਰੀ ਅਤੇ ਮੁੰਦਰੀ ਨਾਂ ਦੀਆਂ ਦੋ ਕੁੜੀਆਂ ਬਹੁਤ ਸੁੰਦਰ ਸਨ।ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੀ ਕੁੜਮਾਈ ਲਾਗਲੇ ਪਿੰਡ ਵਿਚ ਪੱਕੀ ਹੋ ਗਈ। ਦੋਵੇਂ ਕੁੜੀਆਂ ਬਹੁਤ ਸੁੰਦਰ ਸਨ।ਉਸ ਇਲਾਕੇ ਦੇ ਹਾਕਮ ਨੂੰ ਜਦੋਂ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੀ ਸੁੰਦਰਤਾ ਦਾ ਪਤਾ ਲਗਾ ਤਾਂ ਉਸ ਨੇ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਕਰਨਾ ਚਾਹਿਆ। ਉਹ ਗ਼ਰੀਬ ਬ੍ਰਾਹਮਣ ਕੁੜੀ ਵਾਲਿਆਂ ਦੇ ਕੋਲ ਗਿਆ।ਉਸ ਨੇ ਮੁੰਡੇ ਵਾਲਿਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਬੇਨਤੀ ਕੀਤੀ ਕਿ ਉਹ ਵਿਆਹ ਤੋਂ ਪਹਿਲਾਂ ਹੀ ਉਸਦੀਆਂ ਕੁੜੀਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ ਘਰ ਲੈ ਆਉਣ, ਨਹੀਂ ਤਾਂ ਦੁਸ਼ਟ ਹਾਕਮ ਇਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਨਹੀਂ ਛੱਡੇਗਾ। ਮੁੰਡੇ ਵਾਲੇ ਵੀ ਹਾਕਮ ਤੋਂ ਡਰਦੇ ਸਨ। ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨੇ ਅਜਿਹਾ ਕਰਨ ਤੋਂ ਨਾਂਹ ਕਰ ਦਿੱਤੀ।ਨਿਰਾਸ਼ਾ ਵਿਚ ਡੁੱਬਿਆ ਬ੍ਰਾਹਮਣ ਜੰਗਲ ਵਿਚੋਂ ਲੰਘਦਾ ਹੋਇਆ ਘਰ ਵੱਲ ਪਰਤ ਰਿਹਾ ਸੀ।ਰਸਤੇ ਵਿਚ ਉਸਨੂੰ ਦੁੱਲਾ ਭੱਟੀ ਨਾਂ ਦਾ ਡਾਕੂ ਮਿਲਿਆ।ਦੁੱਲਾ ਡਾਕੂ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੋਇਆ ਵੀ ਦੀਨ-ਦੁੱਖੀਆਂ ਦਾ ਸਹਾਇਕ ਸੀ। ਜਦੋਂ ਬ੍ਰਾਹਮਣ ਨੇ ਆਪਣੀ ਦੁੱਖ-ਭਰੀ ਕਹਾਣੀ ਸੁਣਾਈ ਤਾਂ ਦੁੱਲੇ ਦਾ ਮਨ ਪੰਘਰ ਗਿਆ।ਉਸਨੇ ਬ੍ਰਾਹਮਣ ਨੂੰ ਹੌਂਸਲਾ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਅਤੇ ਸਹਾਇਤਾ ਦਾ ਵਚਨ ਦਿੰਦੇ ਹੋਏ ਕਿਹਾ,‘ਬ੍ਰਾਹਮਣ ਦੇਵਤਾ, ਤੁਸੀਂ ਨਿਸ਼ਚਿੰਤ ਰਹੇ। ਪਿੰਡ ਦੀ ਬੇਟੀ ਮੇਰੀ ਬੇਟੀ ਹੈ, ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦਾ ਵਿਆਹ ਮੈਂ ਕਰਾਂਗਾ। ਇਸ ਦੇ ਵਾਸਤੇ ਭਾਵੇਂ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੀ ਜਾਨ ਦੀ ਬਾਜ਼ੀ ਕਿਉਂ ਨਾ ਲਾਉਣੀ ਪਵੇ ।” ਦੂਲਾ ਆਪ ਲੜਕੇ ਵਾਲਿਆਂ ਦੇ ਘਰ ਗਿਆ। ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਤਸੱਲੀ ਦੇ ਕੇ ਵਿਆਹ ਦੀ ਤਾਰੀਖ ਪੱਕੀ ਕਰ ਦਿੱਤੀ।ਇਲਾਕੇ ਦੇ ਹਾਕਮ ਦੇ ਡਰ ਤੋਂ ਜੰਗਲ ਵਿਚ ਹੀ ਰਾਤ ਦੇ ਘੁੱਪ ਹਨੇਰੇ ਵਿਚ ਅੱਗ ਬਾਲੀ ਗਈ। ਪਿੰਡ ਦੇ ਸਾਰੇ ਲੋਕ ਇੱਕਠੇ ਹੋ ਗਏ। ਦੁੱਲਾ ਭੱਟੀ ਨੇ ਆਪ ਧਰਮ ਪਿਤਾ ਬਣ ਕੇ ਸੁੰਦਰੀ ਅਤੇ ਮੁੰਦਰੀ ਦਾ ਕੰਨਿਆ ਦਾਨ ਕੀਤਾ।ਗਰੀਬ ਬ੍ਰਾਹਮਣ ਦਹੇਜ ਵਿਚ ਕੁਝ ਨਾ ਦੇ ਸਕਿਆ। ਪਿੰਡ ਦੇ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਨੇ ਉਸਦੀ ਭਰਪੂਰ ਮਦਦ ਕੀਤੀ।ਦੁੱਲਾ ਭੱਟੀ ਕੋਲ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਕੁੜੀਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਦੇਣ ਲਈ ਕੁਝ ਵੀ ਨਹੀਂ ਸੀ, ਕੇਵਲ ਸ਼ੱਕਰ ਸੀ।ਉਸ ਨੇ ਉਹੀ ਕੁੜੀਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਸ਼ਗਨ ਦੇ ਰੂਪ ਵਿਚ ਦਿੱਤੀ। ਇਸ ਘਟਨਾ ਪਿੱਛੋਂ ਹਰ ਸਾਲ ਲੋਹੜੀ ਦਾ ਤਿਓਹਾਰ ਹਿੰਦੂ, ਮੁਸਲਿਮ ਦਾ ਭੇਦ-ਭਾਵ ਮਿਟਾ ਕੇ ਦਇਆ ਦਾ ਸੰਚਾਰ ਕਰਨ ਲੱਗਾ।

ਖੇਤੀ ਤੇ ਸਰਦ ਰੁੱਤ ਨਾਲ ਸੰਬੰਧ— ਇਸ ਤਿਓਹਾਰ ਦਾ ਸੰਬੰਧ ਫ਼ਸਲ ਨਾਲ ਵੀ ਹੈ ਤੇ ਸਿਖਰ ਤੇ ਪੁੱਜ ਚੁੱਕੀ ਸਰਦੀ ਦੀ ਰੁੱਤ ਨਾਲ ਵੀ ਹੈ।ਇਸ ਸਮੇਂ ਕਿਸਾਨ ਦੇ ਖੇਤ ਕਣਕ, ਛੋਲਿਆਂ ਤੇ ਸਰ੍ਹੋਂ ਨਾਲ ਲਹਿਲਹਾ ਰਹੇ ਹੁੰਦੇ ਹਨ।ਇਸ ਤਿਉਹਾਰ ਦਾ ਸੰਬੰਧ ਰੁੱਤ ਨਾਲ ਵੀ ਹੈ। ਮਾਘ ਦੇ ਮਹੀਨੇਵਿਚ ਸਰਦੀ ਦੀ ਰੁੱਤ ਆਪਣੇ ਜ਼ਬਨ ਤੇ ਹੁੰਦੀ ਹੈ। ਕਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ ਕਿ ਇਸ ਸਮੇਂ ਧੂਣੀਆਂ ਬਾਲ ਕੇ ਪਾਲੇ ਨੂੰ ਸਾੜਿਆ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ।ਸੱਚਮੁੱਚ ਹੀ ਇਸ ਤੋਂ ਪਿੱਛੋਂ ਪਾਲਾ ਘਟਣਾ ਸ਼ੁਰੂ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ।

ਮਨਾਉਣ ਦਾ ਢੰਗ— ਲੋਹੜੀ ਦਾ ਦਿਨ ਆਉਣ ਤੋਂ ਕੁਝ ਦਿਨ ਪਹਿਲਾਂ ਹੀ ਗਲੀਆਂ ਵਿਚ ਮੁੰਡਿਆਂ-ਕੁੜੀਆਂ ਦੀਆਂ ਢਾਣੀਆਂ ਗੀਤ ਗਾਉਂਦੀਆਂ ਹੋਈਆ ਲੋਹੜੀ ਮੰਗਦੀਆਂ ਫਿਰਦੀਆਂ ਹਨ।ਕੋਈ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਦਾਣੇ ਦਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਕੋਈ ਗੁੜ੍ਹ, ਕੋਈ ਪਾਥੀਆਂ ਅਤੇ ਕਈ ਪੈਸੇ। ਲੋਹੜੀ ਮੰਗਣ ਵਾਲੀਆਂ ਟੋਲੀਆਂ ਦੇ ਗਲੀਆਂ ਵਿਚ ਗੀਤ ਗੂੰਜਦੇ ਹਨ-

“ਗੋਰਾ ਜੰਮਿਆ ਸੀ, ਗੁੜ ਵੰਡਿਆ ਸੀ। ਮਾਈ ਦੇਸ ਲੋਹੜੀ, ਤੇਰੀ ਜੀਵੇ ਜੋੜੀ!” ਸਾਡੇ ਪੈਰਾਂ ਹੇਠਾਂ ਰੋੜ, ਸਾਨੂੰ ਛੇਤੀ ਛੇਤੀ ਤੋਰ।”

ਇਸ ਦਿਨ ਭਰਾ ਭੈਣਾਂ ਲਈ ਲੋਹੜੀ ਲੈ ਕੇ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ। ਉਹ ਪਿੰਨੀਆਂ ਤੇ ਖਾਣ-ਪੀਣ ਦੇ ਹੋਰ ਸਮਾਨ ਸਹਿਤ ਕੋਈ ਹੋਰ ਸੁਗਾਤ ਵੀ ਭੈਣ ਦੇ ਘਰ ਪੁਜਾਉਂਦੇ ਹਨ।ਜਿਸ ਘਰ ਵਿਚ ਬੀਤੇ ਸਾਲ ਵਿਚ ਮੁੰਡੇ ਨੇ ਜਨਮ ਲਿਆ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਸ ਘਰ ਵਿਚ ਵਿਸ਼ੇਸ਼ ਰੌਣਕਾਂ ਹੁੰਦੀਆਂ ਹਨ।ਇਸ ਘਰ ਦੀਆਂ ਇਸਤਰੀਆਂ ਸਾਰੇ ਮੁਹੱਲੇ ਵਿਚ ਮੁੰਡੇ ਦੀ ਲੋਹੜੀ ਵੰਡਦੀਆਂ ਹਨ, ਜਿਸ ਵਿਚ ਗੁੜ, ਮੂੰਗਫਲੀ ਤੇ ਰਿਉੜੀਆਂ ਆਦਿ ਸ਼ਾਮਿਲ ਹੁੰਦੀਆਂ ਹਨ। ਸਾਰਾ ਦਿਨ ਉਸ ਘਰ ਵਿਚ ਲੋਹੜੀ ਮੰਗਣ ਵਾਲੇ ਮੁੰਡਿਆਂ-ਕੁੜੀਆਂ ਦੇ ਗੀਤਾਂ ਦੀਆਂ ਰੌਣਕਾਂ ਲੱਗੀਆਂ ਰਹਿੰਦੀਆਂ ਹਨ।ਰਾਤ ਵੇਲੇ ਵੱਡੇ ਵੀ ਇਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਰੌਣਕਾਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਸ਼ਾਮਿਲ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ। ਖੁਲ੍ਹੇ ਵਿਹੜੇ ਵਿਚ ਲੱਕੜਾਂ ਤੇ ਪਾਥੀਆਂ ਇਕੱਠੀਆਂ ਕਰਕੇ ਵੱਡੀ ਧੂਣੀ ਲਾਈ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ। ਕਈ ਇਸਤਰੀਆਂ ਘਰ ਵਿਚ ਮੁੰਡਾ ਹੋਣ ਦੀ ਖੁਸ਼ੀ ਵਿਚ ਚਰਖਾ ਜਾਂ ਮੰਜਾ ਹੀ ਬਾਲ ਦਿੰਦੀਆਂ ਹਨ। ਇਸਤਰੀਆਂ ਤੇ ਮਰਦ ਰਾਤ ਦੇਰ ਤੱਕ ਧੂਣੀ ਸੇਕਦੇ ਹੋਏ ਰਿਉੜੀਆਂ, ਮੂੰਗਫਲੀ, ਭੁੱਗਾ ਆਦਿ ਖਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ ਤੇ ਧੂਣੀ ਵਿਚ ਤਿਲਚੌਲੀ ਆਦਿ ਸੁੱਟਦੇ ਹਨ।ਅੱਧੀ ਰਾਤ ਤੋਂ ਪਿੱਛੋਂ ਧੂਣੀ ਦੀ ਅੱਗ ਦੇ ਠੰਢੀ ਪੈਣ ਤੱਕ ਇਹ ਮਹਿਫਲ ਲੱਗੀ ਰਹਿੰਦੀ ਹੈ।

ਗੁਰ ਨਾਨਕ ਜੀ ਦਾ ਜਨਮ ਤੇ ਬਚਪਨ –  ਗੁਰੂ ਨਾਨਕ ਦੇਵ ਜੀ ਦਾ ਜਨਮ 15 ਅਪ੍ਰੈਲ 1469 ਨੂੰ ਰਾਏਭੋਏ ਦੀ ਤਲਵੰਡੀ ਵਿਖੇ ਜਿਲ੍ਹਾ ਸੇਖਪੁਰਾ (ਜੋ ਕਿ ਹੁਣ ਪਾਕਿਸਤਾਨ ਵਿੱਚ ਹੈ ) ਵਿਖੇ ਹੋਇਆ। ਇਸ ਪਵਿੱਤਰ ਸਥਾਨ ਨੂੰ ਨਨਕਾਣਾ ਸਾਹਿਬ ਦੇ ਵਾਜੋਂ ਜਾਣਿਆ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ। ਸ੍ਰੀ ਗੁਰੂ ਨਾਨਕ ਦੇਵ ਜੀ ਦਾ ਜਨਮ ਪਿਤਾ ਮਹਿਤਾ ਕਲਿਆਣ ਜੀ ਜੋ ਮਹਿਤਾ ਕਾਲੂ ਤੋਂ ਜਾਣੂ ਸਨ ਦੇ ਘਰ ਮਾਤਾ ਤ੍ਰਿਪਤਾ ਜੀ ਦੀ ਕੁਖੋਂ ਹੋਇਆ । ਸ੍ਰੀ ਗੁਰੂ ਨਾਨਕ ਦੇਵ ਜੀ ਦੀ ਭੈਣ ਦਾ ਨਾਂ ਬੇਬੇ ਨਾਨਕੀ ਸੀ। ਨਾਨਕੀ ਗੁਰੂ ਜੀ ਦੀ ਇੱਕੋ-ਇੱਕ ਭੈਣ ਸੀ। ਗੁਰੂ ਨਾਨਕ ਦੇਵ ਜੀ ਦਾ ਜਨਮ ਦਿਨ ਕੱਤਕ ਦੀ ਪੁਰਨਮਾਸ਼ੀ ਨੂੰ ਹਰ ਸਾਲ ਮਨਾਇਆ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ। ਕਈ ਵਿਦਵਾਨਾ ਦਾ ਕਹਿਣਾ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਗੁਰੂ ਨਾਨਕ ਦੇਵ ਜੀ ਦਾ ਜਨਮ 20 ਅਕਤੂਬਰ 1469 ਨੂੰ ਹੋਇਆ।

ਸ੍ਰੀ ਗੁਰੂ ਨਾਨਕ ਦੇਵ ਜੀ ਦੀ ਪੜ੍ਹਾਈ ਜਾਂ ਵਿਦਿਆ – ਪਾਂਧੇ ਕੋਲ ਗੁਰੂ ਜੀ ਨੂੰ ਭੇਜਿਆ ਉਸ ਵੇਲੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਜੀ ਦੀ ਉਮਰ ਸੱਤ ਸਾਲ ਸੀ। ਉਹ ਪਾਂਧਾ ਬਹੁਤ ਹੀ ਗਿਆਨੀ ਵਿਅਕਤੀ ਸੀ ਉਹ ਵੀ ਸ੍ਰੀ ਗੁਰੂ ਨਾਨਕ ਦੇਵ ਜੀ ਦੀ ਅਧਿਆਤਮਕ ਵਿਚਾਰਾਂ ਤੋਂ ਬਹੁਤ ਪ੍ਰਭਾਵਿਤ ਹੋਏ। ਗੁਰੂ ਜੀ ਆਗਿਆਕਾਰੀ ਅਤੇ ਧਾਰਮਿਕ ਵਿਚਾਰਾਂ ਵਾਲੇ ਸਨ। ਗੁਰੂ ਜੀ ਨੇ ਫ਼ਾਰਸੀ ਤੇ ਸੰਸਕ੍ਰਿਤ ਦੇ ਨਾਲ ਨਾਲ ਹਿਸਾਬ ਕਿਤਾਬ ਦੀ ਵੀ ਪੜ੍ਹਾਈ ਕੀਤੀ ਤੇ ਇਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਭਾਸ਼ਾਵਾਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਮਹਾਰਤ ਹਾਸਿਲ ਕੀਤੀ। 

ਸੱਚਾ ਸੌਦਾ ਦੀ ਘਟਨਾ – ਜਦੋਂ ਆਪ ਜੀ ਵਿਦਿਆ ਵਿੱਚ ਮਾਹਿਰ ਹੋ ਗਏ ਤਾਂ ਆਪ ਜੀ ਦੇ ਪਿਤਾ ਜੀ ਨੇ ਵੀਹ ਰੁਪਏ ਦੇ ਕੇ ਕੋਈ ਕਾਰੋਬਾਰ ਕਰਨ ਲਈ ਸ਼ਹਿਰ ਨੂੰ ਭੇਜਿਆ। ਗੁਰੂ ਜੀ ਨੂੰ ਰਾਹ ਦੇ ਵਿੱਚ ਭੁੱਖੇ ਸਾਧੂ ਮਿਲ ਗਏ ਸ੍ਰੀ ਗੁਰੂ ਨਾਨਕ ਦੇਵ ਜੀ ਨੇ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਸਾਧੂਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਭੋਜਨ ਛਕਾਇਆ ਤੇ ਘਰ ਪਰਤ ਆਏ। ਇਸ ਘਟਨਾ ਤੋਂ ਗੁਰੂ ਜੀ ਦੇ ਪਿਤਾ ਜੀ ਬਹੁਤ ਨਾਰਾਜ਼ ਹੋਏ। 

ਮੋਦੀਖਾਨੇ ਵਿਚ ਨੌਕਰੀ – ਸ੍ਰੀ ਗੁਰੂ ਨਾਨਕ ਦੇਵ ਜੀ ਦਾ ਮਨ ਸੰਸਾਰਿਕ ਕੰਮਾਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਸ਼ੁਰੂ ਤੋਂ ਹੀ ਨਹੀਂ ਸੀ ਤਾਂ ਆਪ ਜੀ ਨੂੰ ਭੈਣ ਨਾਨਕੀ ਕੋਲ ਸੁਲਤਾਨਪੁਰ ਭੇਜਿਆ ਗਿਆ। ਉੱਥੇ ਆਪ ਜੀ ਨੇ ਨਵਾਬ ਦੌਲਤ ਖਾਂ ਦੇ ਮੋਦੀਖਾਨੇ ਵਿੱਚ ਨੌਕਰੀ ਕੀਤੀ ਅਤੇ ਇੱਥੇ ਵੀ ਗੁਰੂ ਜੀ ਨੇ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਦਾ ਭਲਾ ਕੀਤਾ ਅਤੇ ਲੋੜਵੰਦ ਅਤੇ ਗਰੀਬਾਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਦਿਲ ਖੋਲ੍ਹ ਕੇ ਅਨਾਜ ਵੰਡਿਆ। ਕਿਸੇ ਨੇ ਨਵਾਬ ਨੂੰ ਜਾ ਕੇ ਸਾਰੀ ਘਟਨਾ ਦੱਸੀ। ਨਵਾਬ ਨੇ ਜਦੋਂ ਹਿਸਾਬ ਕਿਤਾਬ ਕੀਤਾ ਤਾਂ ਸਾਰਾ ਕੁੱਝ ਠੀਕ ਅਤੇ ਪੂਰਾ ਨਿਕਲਿਆ। ਇਸ ਘਟਨਾ ਤੋਂ ਬਾਅਦ ਗੁਰੂ ਜੀ ਨੇ ਮੋਦੀਖਾਨੇ ਦੀ ਨੌਕਰੀ ਛੱਡ ਦਿੱਤੀ। 

ਗੁਰੂ ਜੀ ਨੂੰ ਗਿਆਨ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤੀ – ਸੁਲਤਾਨਪੁਰ ਵਿੱਚ ਇੱਕ ਦਿਨ ਆਪ ਪਵਿੱਤਰ ਵੇਈਂ ਨਦੀ ਵਿੱਚ ਇਸ਼ਨਾਨ ਕਰਨ ਗਏ। ਸ੍ਰੀ ਗੁਰੂ ਨਾਨਕ ਦੇਵ ਜੀ ਦੀ ਇਸ ਵੇਈਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਤਿੰਨ ਦਿਨ ਅਲੋਪ ਰਹੇ, ਗੁਰੂ ਜੀ ਜਦੋਂ ਬਾਹਰ ਆਏ ਤਾਂ ਆਪ ਜੀ ਨੂੰ ਸੰਪੂਰਣ ਰੱਬੀ ਗਿਆਨ ਹੋ ਚੁੱਕਾ ਸੀ। ਆਪ ਜੀ ਸੰਸਾਰ ਦੇ ਭਲੇ ਲਈ ਸੰਸਾਰਿਕ ਕੰਮਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਛੱਡ ਕੇ ਯਾਤਰਾ ਦੇ ਚੱਲ ਪਏ। 

ਗੁਰੂ ਜੀ ਦਾ ਵਿਆਹ – ਪਿਤਾ ਜੀ ਆਪ ਜੀ ਦੇ ਸੰਸਾਰ ਦੇ ਕੰਮਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਮਨ ਨਾ ਲੱਗਣ ਦੇ ਕਾਰਣ ਬਹੁਤ ਪਰੇਸ਼ਾਨ ਸਨ ,ਇਸ ਲਈ ਗੁਰੂ ਜੀ ਦੇ ਪਿਤਾ ਜੀ ਨੇ ਆਪ ਜੀ ਦਾ ਵਿਆਹ ਬੀਬੀ ਸੁਲੱਖਣੀ ਨਾਲ ਕਰ ਦਿੱਤਾ। ਪਰ ਗੁਰੂ ਜੀ ਦਾ ਮਨ ਤਾਂ ਪ੍ਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਵਿੱਚ ਲੱਗਾ ਹੋਇਆ ਸੀ। ਆਪ ਜੀ ਜਦੋਂ ਭਗਤੀ ਵਿੱਚ ਲੀਨ ਹੁੰਦੇ ਸਨ ਤਾਂ ਮੱਝਾਂ ਦੂਸਰਿਆਂ ਦੇ ਖੇਤਾਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਜਾ ਵੜਦਿਆਂ ਸਨ। ਜਿਸ ਨਾਲ ਲੋਕ ਸ਼ਿਕਾਇਤ ਲੈ ਕੇ ਆਉਂਦੇ ਸਨ। ਗੁਰੂ ਨਾਨਕ ਸਾਹਿਬ ਦੇ ਘਰ ਦੋ ਪੁੱਤਰ ਸ਼੍ਰੀ ਚੰਦ ਅਤੇ ਲਖਮੀ ਦਾਸ ਦਾ ਜਨਮ ਹੋਇਆ।

ਸ੍ਰੀ ਗੁਰੂ ਨਾਨਕ ਦੇਵ ਜੀ ਦੀਆਂ ਚਾਰ ਉਦਾਸੀਆਂ – ਸ੍ਰੀ ਗੁਰੂ ਨਾਨਕ ਦੇਵ ਜੀ ਨੇ ਪੂਰਬ,ਪੱਛਮ, ਉੱਤਰ ਅਤੇ ਦੱਖਣ ਦੀਆਂ ਚਾਰ ਉਦਾਸੀਆਂ ਕੀਤੀਆਂ ਅਤੇ ਬਹੁਤ ਸਾਰੇ ਸੂਫ਼ੀ, ਸੰਤਾਂ, ਫ਼ਕੀਰਾਂ, ਗੁਰੂਆਂ, ਪੰਡਤਾਂ ਅਤੇ ਕਾਜ਼ੀਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਮਿਲੇ। ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਵੀ ਗੁਰੂ ਜੀ ਨੇ ਅਸਲ ਗਿਆਨ ਦੇ ਕੇ ਸਿੱਧੇ ਰਸਤੇ ਪਾਇਆ। ਇਸ ਤੋਂ ਇਲਾਵਾ ਸ੍ਰੀ ਗੁਰੂ ਨਾਨਕ ਦੇਵ ਜੀ ਨੇ ਮਲਕ ਭਾਗੋ, ਕੌਡੇ ਰਾਕਸ਼ , ਸੱਜਣ ਠੱਗ ਅਤੇ ਵਲੀ ਕੰਧਾਰੀ ਵਰਗੇ ਕੁਰਾਹੇ ਪਏ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਸੁਧਾਰਿਆ ਅਤੇ ਜੀਵਨ ਦੇ ਅਸਲ ਗਿਆਨ ਦੀ ਵਿਦਿਆ ਦਿੱਤੀ। ਗੁਰੂ ਜੀ ਨੇ ਸਮਾਜ ਨੂੰ ਮਿਲ ਕੇ ਰਹਿਣ, ਕਿਰਤ ਕਰੋ, ਨਾਮ ਜਪੋ ਅਤੇ ਵੰਡ ਕੇ ਛਕਣ ਦਾ ਉਪਦੇਸ਼ ਦਿੱਤਾ। ਸਮਾਜਿਕ ਕੁਰੀਤੀਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਵੀ ਗੁਰੂ ਜੀ ਖ਼ਤਮ ਕਰਨ ਲਈ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਦਿਸ਼ਾ ਦਿੱਤੀ।  

ਸ੍ਰੀ ਗੁਰੂ ਨਾਨਕ ਦੇਵ ਜੀ ਮਹਾਨ ਕਵੀ ਤੇ ਸੰਗੀਤਕਾਰ ਵੀ ਸਨ ਗੁਰੂ ਜੀ ਨੇ 19 ਰਾਗਾਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਬਾਣੀ ਦੀ ਰਚਨਾ ਕੀਤੀ ਜੋ ਪਵਿੱਤਰ ਸ੍ਰੀ ਗੁਰੂ ਗਰੰਥ ਸਾਹਿਬ ਜੀ ਵਿੱਚ ਦਰਜ਼ ਹੈ। ਲੋਕ ਅੱਜ ਵੀ ਇਸ ਬਾਣੀ ਨੂੰ ਪੜ੍ਹ ਕੇ ਆਨੰਦ ਲੈਂਦੇ ਹਨ। ਗੁਰੂ ਜੀ ਨੇ ਫ਼ਰਮਾਇਆ ਹੈ – 

“ਪਵਣੁ ਗੁਰੂ ਪਾਣੀ ਪਿਤਾ, ਮਾਤਾ ਧਰਤਿ ਮਹਤੁ।।”

ਜੋਤੀ ਜੋਤ ਸਮਾਉਣਾ – ਸ੍ਰੀ ਗੁਰੂ ਨਾਨਕ ਦੇਵ ਜੀ ਨੇ ਭਾਈ ਲਹਿਣਾ ਜੀ ਨੂੰ ਸ੍ਰੀ ਗੁਰੂ ਅੰਗਦ ਦੇਵ ਜੀ ਬਣਾ ਕੇ ਸਮਾਜ ਦੀ ਭਲਾਈ ਵਾਸਤੇ ਗੱਦੀ ਦਾ ਵਾਰਸ ਚੁਣਿਆ ਅਤੇ ਆਪ ਗੁਰੂ ਜੀ 1539 ਈ. ਨੂੰ ਜੋਤੀ-ਜੋਤ ਸਮਾ ਗਏ। ਇਸ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਅਕਾਲ ਪੁਰਖ ਦੇ ਅਵਤਾਰ ਦੀ ਸੰਸਾਰਕ ਯਾਤਰਾ ਪੂਰੀ ਹੋਈ।
