ఎన్నిక‌ల సీజ‌న్ రాగానే రాజ‌కీయం నేప‌థ్యంలో సాగే సినిమాలు థియేట‌ర్ల ముందుకు వ‌ర‌స క‌డుతుంటాయి. ప్రేక్ష‌కులంతా అదే మూడ్‌లో ఉంటారు  కాబ‌ట్టి త‌గిన సీజ‌న్ ఇదే అని భావిస్తూ ద‌ర్శ‌క‌-నిర్మాత‌లు రాజ‌కీయ ప్ర‌ధానంగా సాగే సినిమాల్ని ప్రేక్ష‌కుల ముందుకు తీసుకొస్తుంటారు. ఈసారి ఆ జాబితాలో క‌నిపించిన కీల‌క‌మైన సినిమా... ‘ప్ర‌తినిధి2’.  నారా రోహిత్ గతంలో చేసిన ‘ప్ర‌తినిధి’ సినిమాకి కొన‌సాగింపుగా ఇది రూపొందింది. పాత్రికేయుడు మూర్తి దేవ‌గుప్తుపు ద‌ర్శ‌క‌త్వం వ‌హించారు. విడుద‌ల‌కి ముందే ప్రేక్ష‌కుల దృష్టిని ఆక‌ర్షించిన ఈ సినిమా ఎలా ఉంది?(Prathinidhi 2 Review) ఈ ప్రతినిధి ఎవర తరపున పోరాటం చేశాడు?

క‌థేంటంటే: నిజాన్ని నిర్భ‌యంగా  వెలుగులోకి తీసుకొచ్చి ప్ర‌శ్నించే నిఖార్స‌యిన జ‌ర్న‌లిస్ట్ చే అలియాస్ చేత‌న్ (నారా రోహిత్‌). చిన్న‌ప్పుడు త‌న జీవితంలో జ‌రిగిన సంఘ‌ట‌న‌లు ఆయ‌న గ‌మ్యాన్ని నిర్దేశిస్తాయి. ఫ్రీలాన్స్ జ‌ర్న‌లిస్ట్‌గా ప‌నిచేసే  చేత‌న్‌ని ఎన్‌.ఎన్‌.సి ఛాన‌ల్ ఏరికోరి సీఈఓగా నియ‌మిస్తుంది. రాజ‌కీయ నాయ‌కులు చేస్తున్న అక్ర‌మాల‌ని చాక‌చ‌క్యంగా వెలుగులోకి తీసుకొస్తూ వారి జీవితాల్నే ప్ర‌భావితం చేస్తాడు. అదే సమయంలో ముఖ్య‌మంత్రి ప్ర‌జాప‌తి (స‌చిన్ ఖేడేక‌ర్‌)పై హ‌త్యాయ‌త్నం జరుగుతుంది. మరి ఆ హత్య వెనుక ఉన్నది ఎవరు? సీబీఐ ప‌రిశోధ‌న‌లో ఎలాంటి విష‌యాలు వెలుగులోకి వ‌చ్చాయి? నారా రోహిత్‌ చేసిన పోరాటం ఏంటి? తెలియాలంటే సినిమా చూడాల్సిందే!

ఎలా ఉందంటే: వ్య‌వ‌స్థ‌ని ప్ర‌శ్నించ‌డ‌మే ప్ర‌ధానంగా ‘ప్ర‌తినిధి’ చిత్రం తెర‌కెక్కింది. అందులో ఓ కామ‌న్ మేన్‌గా క‌నిపించిన నారా రోహిత్‌... ఈసారి ప్ర‌జాస్వామ్యానికి మూల‌ స్తంభాల్లో ఒక‌టైన జర్న‌లిజంలో ఉంటూ ప్ర‌శ్నించే యువ‌కుడిగా క‌నిపిస్తాడు. నారా రోహిత్... మూర్తి క‌ల‌యిక అన‌గానే  స‌హజంగానే ఇది ఓ పార్టీకి అనుకూలంగా ఉంటుంద‌నే ఓ అంచ‌నాలో ఉంటారు చాలా మంది. (Prathinidhi 2 Review)  కానీ, ఈ క‌థ అందుకు పూర్తి భిన్నంగా తెర‌కెక్కింది. ముఖ్య‌మంత్రి హ‌త్య‌, ఆ త‌ర్వాత ఆయ‌న కొడుకు ఆ ప‌ద‌వి చేపట్టాల‌నుకోవ‌డం వంటి విష‌యాలు గ‌తంలో తెలుగు రాజ‌కీయాల్లో జ‌రిగిన సంఘ‌ట‌న‌ల్ని గుర్తు చేసినా...  దానికంటే కూడా ఫ‌క్తు క‌మ‌ర్షియ‌ల్ పొలిటిక‌ల్ డ్రామాగా ఈ చిత్రాన్ని తెర‌పైకి తీసుకొచ్చారు ద‌ర్శ‌కుడు. ఏ ఒక్క పార్టీకో ఉప‌యోగ‌ప‌డే సినిమాగా కాకుండా... జ‌ర్న‌లిజం, రాజ‌కీయ వ్య‌వ‌స్థ‌ల్ని త‌న‌దైన‌కోణంలో ఆవిష్క‌రించారు. తొలి స‌గ‌భాగంలో క‌లం చేత‌ప‌ట్టిన క‌థానాయ‌కుడు...ద్వితీయార్ధంలో క‌త్తి ప‌డ‌తాడు. ఆ క్ర‌మంలో చోటు చేసుకునే మ‌లుపులు చిత్రానికి ప్ర‌ధాన ఆక‌ర్ష‌ణ‌గా నిలుస్తాయి.

ఆరంభ స‌న్నివేశాలు క‌థానాయ‌కుడి పాత్ర నైజాన్ని... జ‌ర్న‌లిజం గొప్ప‌త‌నాన్ని చాటుతాయి. క‌థానాయ‌కుడు ఎన్‌.ఎన్‌.సి  ఛాన‌ల్‌లో బాధ్య‌త‌లు తీసుకున్న‌ప్ప‌టి నుంచి క‌థ ఆస‌క్తిక‌రంగా మారుతుంది. మంత్రి గ‌జేంద్ర (అజ‌య్ ఘోష్‌)  అరాచ‌కాల్ని ప్ర‌శ్నించి అత‌ని ప‌ద‌వి పోయేలా చేయ‌డం, తర్వాత జ‌రిగే ఉప  ఎన్నిక‌ల్లో ప్ర‌తిప‌క్షం నుంచి పోటీ చేసిన  న‌ర‌సింహ (పృథ్వీరాజ్‌) చేసిన ఆకృత్యాల్ని  వెలుగులోకి తీసుకు రావడం... ఆ నేప‌థ్యంలో పండే డ్రామా సినిమాకి కీల‌కం.  ఓటు విలువ‌ని చాటి చెబుతూ తీర్చిదిద్దిన స‌న్నివేశాలూ చిత్రానికి బ‌లం. (Prathinidhi 2 Review in telugu) విరామ స‌న్నివేశాల‌కి ముందు చోటు చేసుకునే మ‌లుపు ద్వితీయార్ధంపై ఆస‌క్తిని పెంచుతుంది. అప్ప‌టిదాకా స‌హ‌జంగా సాగుతున్న‌ట్టుగా అనిపించిన సినిమా... ఆ త‌ర్వాత క‌థ‌, క‌థ‌నాలు మ‌రీ నాట‌కీయంగా మారిపోతాయి. ఓ ముఖ్యమంత్రి క్యాంప్ ఆఫీస్‌లో బాంబు పేలుడు, ఆ త‌ర్వాత చోటు చేసుకునే ప‌రిణామాలు, కేంద్ర‌మంత్రి స్పందిస్తే త‌ప్ప  అవి ఇంటెలిజెన్స్ వ్య‌వ‌స్థ‌కి తెలియ‌క‌పోవ‌డం వంటి విష‌యాలు అసంబద్ధంగా అనిపిస్తూ,  సినిమా గ‌తిని మార్చేశాయి. మ‌రీ ఎక్కువ స్వేచ్ఛ తీసుకుని ఆ స‌న్నివేశాల్ని మ‌లిచిన‌ట్టు అనిపిస్తుంది. ద్వితీయార్ధంలో  క‌థానాయ‌కుడి కుటుంబ నేపథ్యం, అత‌ని ల‌క్ష్యం, పాట‌లు, ఫైట్లు...  ఇవ‌న్నీ ఓ స‌గ‌టు ఫార్ములా తెలుగు సినిమా క‌థ‌ల్నే గుర్తు చేస్తాయి త‌ప్ప కొత్త‌దనం ఏమీ క‌నిపించ‌దు. ముఖ్య‌మంత్రిపై హ‌త్యాయత్నం వెన‌క ఎవ‌రున్నార‌నే విషయాన్ని వెలుగులోకి తీసుకొచ్చే స‌న్నివేశాలు మాత్రం ఆస‌క్తిక‌రంగా సాగుతాయి.  ప్ర‌తిష్టాత్మ‌క‌మైన ప‌రిశోధ‌న సంస్థ  సీబీఐని ఇందులో  మ‌రీ సాదాసీదాగా చూపించ‌డం పెద్ద‌గా మెప్పించ‌దు.  మొత్తంగా మ‌న మార్క్ మసాలాతో రూపొందిన మ‌రో స‌గ‌టు చిత్రం... ప్ర‌తినిధి 2. అక్క‌డ‌క్క‌డా కొన్ని మెరుపులు ఉన్నాయి.

ఎవ‌రెలా చేశారంటే: గాఢ‌త‌తో కూడిన చే త‌ర‌హా పాత్రలు నారా రోహిత్‌కి  బాగా నప్పుతాయి. జ‌ర్న‌లిస్ట్‌గా ఆయ‌న క‌నిపించిన తీరు, ప్ర‌శ్నించే విధానం ఆక‌ట్టుకుంటుంది. భావోద్వేగాలు, పోరాట స‌న్నివేశాలపైనా ప్ర‌భావం చూపించాడు.  ప్ర‌థ‌మార్ధంలో ఆయ‌న న‌ట‌న చిత్రానికి హైలైట్‌. ఆరంభ స‌న్నివేశాల్లో గెట‌ప్ బాగుంది.  కథానాయిక సిరి లెల్లా సినిమా అంతా కనిపించినా, ద్వితీయార్ధంలోనే ఆమె క‌థానాయిక అని తెలుస్తుంది.  స‌చిన్ ఖేడ్కర్‌, దినేశ్ తేజ్‌, జిషుసేన్ గుప్తా, అజ‌య్ ఘోష్‌, పృథ్వీరాజ్, ఉద‌య‌భాను పాత్ర‌లు ఆక‌ట్టుకుంటాయి. దేశ రాజకీయాల్లో ప్రముఖంగా వినిపించే ఓ కింగ్ మేకర్‌ని గుర్తు చేసే పాత్రలో అజయ్ కనిపిస్తారు. 

సాంకేతికంగా సినిమా ఉన్న‌తంగా ఉంది. నాని చ‌మిడిశెట్టి కెమెరా ప‌నిత‌నం, మ‌హ‌తి స్వ‌ర‌సాగ‌ర్ నేప‌థ్య సంగీతం చిత్రానికి బ‌లం.  ద్వితీయార్ధంలో ఎడిటింగ్ ప‌రంగా జాగ్ర‌త్త‌లు తీసుకోవాల్సింది. స్వ‌త‌హాగా జ‌ర్న‌లిస్ట్  అయిన మూర్తి దేవ‌గుప్త‌పు ఆ నేప‌థ్యాన్ని కొత్త‌గా ఆవిష్క‌రించిందేమీ లేదు కానీ, మ‌న ప్రేక్ష‌కుల అబిరుచుల‌కి త‌గ్గ‌ట్టుగా ఓ మంచి వాణిజ్య  ప్ర‌ధాన‌మైన సినిమాని అందించే ప్ర‌య‌త్నం చేశారు. Andhra Pradesh Elections 2024 Live Updates: Andhra records over 60 % voter turnout till 5 pm

 Andhra Pradesh Lok Sabha Election Live Updates: Andhra Pradesh, which is voting for its 175-seat Assembly elections and 25 seats in the Lok Sabha, on Monday, saw a turnout of 68.04 per cent recorded till 5 pm. The southern state is currently under the Jagan Mohan Reddy-led Yuvajana Sramika Rythu Congress Party (YSRCP) government, which betting on its welfare scheme to retain power.  In 2019, the YSRCP won 151 of the 175 Assembly seats in Andhra, with a vote share of 49.95 per cent reducing the TDP to 23 seats and 39.17 per cent votes. The JSP won one seat and got 5.53 per cent votes. The Congress got a mere 1.17 per centof the votes and did not win any seats.

Earlier in the day, a video that went viral on Monday during the simultaneous Lok Sabha and State Legislative Assembly polling in Andhra Pradesh , Yuvajana Sramika Rythu Congress Party (YSRCP) MLA A Sivakumar allegedly attacked a voter. The incident took place at a polling booth in the southern state’s Guntur district as Sivakumar tried to cut ahead in line, reported ANI. The Andhra Pradesh unit of the Bharatiya Janata Party ( BJP ) promptly hit out at the incident on social media. In a post on X (formerly Twitter), the party shared a clip of the video and wrote “Is this the Vaikapa candidate who got his hands on the voter in Tenali, Guntur district, do you have respect for democracy?”

.Prominent among the early voters in the state are popular Telugu actors Chiranjeevi, Allu Arjun , Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy and TDP supremo N Chandrababu Naidu , reported  PTI. The polling is scheduled from 7 am to 6 pm in the state, barring a few places where it will conclude one or two hours earlier. Meanwhile, in neighbouring Telangana , sitting MP and AIMIM chief Asaduddin Owaisi is up against the BJP’s Madhavi Latha in the battle for Hyderabad .

Tensions grapples in parts of andhra as ysrcp and tdp workers clash.

Mild tension continues to prevail in parts of Andhra Pradesh as YSRCP and Telugu Desam Party (TDP) workers clashed outside polling booths and on the streets.

Police are responding by conducting lathi charges and dispersing the clashing cadres. The incidents are occurring where TDP leaders are sitting YSRCP MLAs are visiting and their supporters and aides are clashing with each other.

For those who were still in the queue at polling booths, election officials allowed them to vote and voting continued till late. In Narasaraopet, unidentified people set a four-wheeler on fire while several motorcycles were damaged in clashes between the cadres at other places. 

Andhra Pradesh Elections 2024 Live Updates | LS elections fourth phase: Over 52 per cent polling recorded till 3 pm

A voter turnout of more than 52 per cent was recorded till 3 pm on Monday in the fourth phase of Lok Sabha polls in 96 constituencies spread over 10 states and Union Territories amid incidents of violence in Andhra Pradesh and West Bengal as well as reports of poll boycott in some Uttar Pradesh villages.

According to the Election Commission, a voting percentage of 52.60 was recorded till 3 pm. The voting which started at 7 am will continue till 6 pm.

Violence was reported from parts of Andhra Pradesh with YSRCP and TDP leaders hurling accusations against each other. YSRCP leader and Tenali MLA A Shiva Kumar allegedly manhandled a voter in Tenali following an argument, police said, adding the voter also retaliated.

At Dalavaipalli village in Railway Kodur constituency, an EVM was destroyed while cars belonging to the ruling party and TDP were damaged, a police official said. A TDP agent was attacked at Nakkaladinne village in Myduruku constituency, leading to his hospitalisation. (PTI)

Speaking to ANI, P Muralidhar Rao said, 'I am happy that India is celebrating the festival of democracy. The kind of population we have in our country, the kind of diversity we have. It is nowhere else in the world.' 'Amid the apprehensions expressed in the past, we have proved the whole world wrong and India is the only vibrant, robust and successful democracy. Andhra Pradesh Elections 2024 Live Updates | I stood up for justice, says BJP candidate Madhavi Latha after asking Muslim women to show face to check identity

BJP candidate for Hyderabad Lok Sabha seat K Madhavi Latha was on Monday booked by election authorities after a video clip in which she was purportedly asking burqa-clad women Muslim voters to show their faces to compare with the photo identity cards surfaced.

In the video, Latha was seen asking the women voters at a polling booth to lift the burqa and show their faces so that she could verify their identity.

She was also seen telling the policemen to allow voters into polling booths only after a thorough check.

In an interview with the ANI, news agency she said, "90% of booths are compromised. Police do not want to instruct female constables to check the face with the voter ID. When I asked the police officer, he said it's not his responsibility..."

Andhra Pradesh Elections 2024 Live Updates | After YSRCP MLA Sivakumar assault video goes viral, BJP accuses party, police

he BJP on Monday accused the ruling YSR Congress in Andhra Pradesh of unleashing "unprecedented violence" to target National Democratic Alliance workers and sought the Election Commission's intervention.

The party wrote to the poll body even as voting was for the assembly and Lok Sabha was being held in the state. It claimed that police were acting as mute spectators and not ensuring free and fair elections.

The Election Commission's aim has been to increase the poll percentage but it has been negated by the police indifference and inaction of district election officers, BJP general secretary Arun Singh, who is his party's in-charge for the polls in the state, said.

Large queues could be seen before every polling station and people are made to wait two to three hours minimum to exercise their franchise, he said.

The BJP in its complaint has cited many instances across several districts to allege violence and even booth capturing by YSR Congress workers.

Telangana Lok Sabha Elections: "BJP trying to polarise Muslim votes," says CM Revanth Reddy over Madhavi Latha video

Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy alleged that the BJP is "attempting to polarise Mulsim votes" hours after its party candidate Madhavi Latha courted controversy during her visit to a polling booth.

Madhavi Latha was seen in a video clip checking the voter ID cards of Muslim women during her visit to a polling booth.

"I have not seen (the video). But BJP is simply trying to polarise Muslim votes to win Asaduddin Owaisi. All these issues are going to help Owaisi. It is not going to benefit anything BJP," CM Revanth Reddy told ANI while responding to the video.

"BJP's agenda is that to say that Asad has to elect. This is one type of polarisation," he alleged.

In a video that went viral on Monday during the simultaneous Lok Sabha and State Legislative Assembly polling in Andhra Pradesh, YSR Congress MLA A Sivakumar was seen attacking a voter. The incident took place in the southern state’s Guntur district as Sivakumar tried to cut ahead in line, reported  ANI.

According to the news agency, the brawl broke out when a voter standing in line for polling at a booth in Tenali,  Guntur  objected to Sivakumar cutting the queue.

Madhavi Latha who is the BJP's candidate from Hyderabad courted controversy after she was seen in a video clip checking the voter ID cards during her visit to a polling booth.

In the video, the BJP candidate can be seen asking Muslim women inside the booth to remove the Burkha and identify themselves along with checking their voter identity cards.

Speaking about the video, the BJP leader told ANI that she had only requested the women to verify their identity and there was nothing wrong with this.

"I am a candidate. As per law candidate has the right to check the ID cards without the facemasks. I am not a man, I am a woman and with a lot of humbleness, I have only requested them - can I please see and verify with the ID cards? If somebody wants to make a big issue out of it, that means they are scared," she said.

Amidst the ongoing fourth election phase, Andhra Pradesh Congress President and Candidate from Kadapa Lok Sabha seat, YS Sharmila, reached her polling booth and cast her vote. She looked confident of her and the Congress party's win from the seat.

YS Sharmila said, "I don't know if I am allowed to talk politics today or not, but I am very sure and confident of my victory here. I am also very sure that justice will prevail because that's important in sight of god, in sight of people and for society, Justice should prevail..." She spoke about the fluctuations in Congress' vote percentage in Kadapa but at the same time, she looked confident for a double-digit vote percentage in Kadapa in 2024."

Over 5,000 police personnel were deployed for incident-free polling in Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh.

Speaking on elaborate security arrangements made in Visakhapatnam, Commissioner of Police Ravi Shankar Ayyanar said, "Extensive security arrangements have been made to ensure smooth polling in the fourth phase of the Lok Sabha elections. More than 5,000 personnel are deployed in Visakhapatnam. All the polling activities are being monitored through CCTV. The EVMs are functioning properly and voting is underway across seven constituencies in a peaceful manner. So far, there is no problem in the city."

Telangana Lok Sabha Elections: Police register case against BJP candidate Madhavi Latha

In a post on X (formerly Twitter) the Hyderabad constituency collector informed that a case has been registered against BJP leader and Lok Sabha candidate from Hyderabad under the Indian Penal Code (IPC) sections 171C, 186, 505(1)(c) and Section 132 of the Representation of the People Act.

Telangana Lok Sabha Elections: Congress complains to EC against Kishan Reddy

In another letter to the Election Commission of India (ECI), the Congress filed a complaint against BJP state president and Union Minister G.Kishan Reddy.

The letter, signed by Senior Vice President and Chairman of Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee G.Niranjan also marks a violation of the Model Code of Conduct (MCC) by the BJP leader. 

It reads, "Sri G.Kishan Reddy,  State BJP President and Union Minister today after casting his vote at Barkatpura addressed the media and taken the name of Sri Narendra Modi which is a violation. Please instruct the concerned to register a case against him."

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Monday filed a complaint with the Election Commission of India (ECI) regarding Andhra Chief Minister Revanth Reddy as the latter held a press conference post casting his vote. 

The official letter sent to the ECI notes that the live press conference held by the CM violates the Model Code of Conduct (MCC).

The complaint was filed by the BJP Andhra Pradesh general secretary Dr. Kasam Venkateshwarlu.

Opinion | In the Lok Sabha polls, BRS is fighting to stay relevant in Telangana

In the 2024 parliamentary elections for Telangana’s 17 seats, the political scenario is shaping up to be a competitive three-way contest. The Congress party and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) are squaring off against each other in many constituencies, while the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS), which once held sway over the state, is focusing more on consolidating its vote share than winning outright. For the BRS, this election is crucial for maintaining its political relevance within the state.

Congress is currently in a favourable position following its victory in the recent assembly elections, while the BJP has been buoyed by its performance in both the assembly elections and the Hyderabad municipal elections. The success of these two national parties will depend heavily on whether the BRS can retain its traditional voter base.

EC rescues three kidnapped TDP polling agents in Andhra Pradesh

PTI is reporting that Andhra Pradesh Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) Mukesh Kumar Meena on Monday said three TDP polling agents who were allegedly kidnapped in Chittoor district have been traced and secured.

According to a press release from the CEO's office, the TDP agents were kidnapped from Bokaramanda village in Chittoor district's Sadum mandal, which falls under the Punganuru Assembly constituency, the report said.

"TDP district in-charge Jagan Mohan Raju complained that TDP agents belonging to polling stations 188, 189 and 199 were kidnapped by YSRCP leaders while going to the polling stations," said Meena.

Andhra Pradesh Guv Nazeer, CM Jagan, TDP chief Chandrababu Naidu among early voters

Andhra Pradesh Governor S Abdul Nazeer, Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy and TDP supremo N Chandrababu Naidu along with their respective family members, were among the early voters in the state on Monday.

Assembly elections are being held simultaneously with the Lok Sabha polls in Andhra Pradesh.

Governor Nazeer and First Lady Sameera Nazeer exercised their franchise at the green polling station in Vijayawada. Jagan Mohan Reddy cast his vote at Bhakarapuram in Pulivendula constituency in Kadapa district while Chandrababu Naidu and his wife exercised their franchise in Amaravati. Janasena chief Pawan Kalyan voted in Mangalagiri.

According to a PTI report, prior to the start of polling at 6 am in Macherla mandal in Palnadu district, violence broke out between ruling YSRCP and TDP cadres. A female TDP supporter suffered a large gash on her forehead.

How caste dynamics power Andhra Pradesh politics: From Kamma-Kapu rivalry to Reddys’ dominance

Andhra Pradesh, since Telangana was carved out of it in 2014, has seen both regional parties – the YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) and Telugu Desam Party (TDP) – enjoy power for a term each.

Community loyalties have been the central point of elections in the state and the upcoming simultaneous Lok Sabha and Assembly polls on Monday are likely to be no different. However, the political realignment in the state, among other factors like anti-incumbency and local issues, has made the poll more intriguing.

While the YSRCP, which is seeking a second straight term, has gone it alone, the TDP has joined hands with  Pawan Kalyan ’s JanaSena Party (JSP) and the  BJP . The entry of the Congress, which has negligible presence in the state, through Chief Minister Y S  Jagan Mohan Reddy ’s sister, Y S Sharmila, has added another layer of intrigue.

Telangana Elections 2024: Among early voters are BJP chief Kishan Reddy, actor Allu Arjun

Union Minister and Telangana BJP chief G Kishan Reddy and 'Pushpa' movie fame Allu Arjun were among the early voters in Telangana as polling for the 17 Lok Sabha seats in the state got underway.

AIMIM president Asaduddin Owaisi, who is seeking re-election from the Hyderabad Lok Sabha constituency and BJP candidate from the seat K Madhavi Latha also cast their votes.

Polling which began at 7 am will end by 6 pm, barring at a few places where it will conclude two hours earlier.

The Election Commission has also made arrangements to conduct a bypoll for the Secunderabad (Cantonment) Assembly seat to be held simultaneously today.

For the 2024 general elections, Andhra Pradesh is polling for all 175 seats in one phase during the fourth phase of polling on May 13.

Andhra Pradesh, which is voting for its 175-seat Assembly elections on Monday, saw a total voter turnout of 9.21 percent recorded at 9 am.

However, the voter turnout until 9 am for the general elections was stood at 9.05 percent.

As Andhra Pradesh votes today, how a resurgent TDP is hoping to dislodge Jagan Mohan Reddy

Having lost five years ago, G Harish Balayogi, the 33-year-old son of former Lok Sabha Speaker G M C Balayogi, is testing his luck for the second time from the Amalapuram Lok Sabha seat in Andhra Pradesh. Unlike 2019, there is a spring in the TDP candidate’s step and that is down to the alliance with the BJP. Amalapuram  in the newly created Konaseema district in central Andhra is an example of how TDP chief N  Chandrababu Naidu , who appeared down and out last year, is hoping to consolidate anti-incumbency votes across the state where Lok Sabha and Assembly polls will be held on Monday. With rural voters seemingly backing Chief Minister Y S  Jagan Mohan Reddy , largely because of his government’s welfare schemes, the Opposition NDA alliance of the TDP,  BJP  and the JanaSena Party (JSP) has its task cut out.

As poll date nears, gap closes between YSRCP and TDP in Andhra

After having swept to power five years ago in a massive victory, silencing naysayers who doubted whether he could replicate his father in popularity, Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister and YSRCP president Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy is facing what he calls his battle of Kurukshetra. “The people of Andhra will play the role of Krishna, whereas I will play the role of Arjun. I am contesting the election alone against the anti-poor capitalist partners of the NDA,” he says at every public meeting, pitching his contest against the TDP-led alliance as a “class war” between the rich and poor, with him the messiah of the masses with his welfare schemes.
