Food comes in a wide variety all around the world. Dosa, Paneer, Naan, Chapati, Biryani, and more Indian delicacies are available. We are also offered western cuisines such as noodles, pasta, burgers, fries, pizzas and more dominating the food industry. In my favourite food essay, I will tell you about the food I like eating the most.

As the world is advancing day by day, it is becoming easier to get access to many kinds of food at our doorstep. Every day, we all want to consume great and delicious cuisine. There are many different varieties of food accessible all throughout the world. We all like different foods, however, my personal favourite is burgers. I have eaten many cuisines but my favourite food is definitely a burger. I cannot resist myself when it comes to burgers.

Burgers are one of the most convenient and easiest foods to eat on the fly when we’re in a hurry. We can have a burger at any time of day, whether it’s breakfast, lunch, or supper, and maybe some fries and a Coke to go with it. Many restaurants are well-known for making their speciality burgers in a particular style. Preparation changes from one establishment to the next. But what exactly makes a burger taste so good? They will taste vary depending on where you go, but they are all built the same. It is made up of a bun, a ground meat patty, and various toppings like cheese, onion slices, lettuce, and other sauces.

They are so soft yet crunchy, fresh and juicy that I love eating them. Even though there are many kinds of burgers, my favourite one is a chicken burger. The chicken patty gives the burger a juicy taste and it tingles my taste buds every time I eat it. I can already smell and taste it in my mouth as soon as I walked inside McDonald’s or any other restaurant that serves chicken burgers. As soon as I take a huge mouthful of it, I forget about any problems or troubles that are going on in the outer world and concentrate my entire concentration just on my chicken burger.

I love eating a burger which is filled with cheese and vegetables . The more vegetables you add, the better it tastes. My personal favourite is lettuce. It gives the burger the right amount of freshness and crunchiness.

I always eat my burger with ketchup. Most importantly, the thing I love about eating burgers is that I get to eat French fries along with them. They work as a great side to the dish and also make my stomach full.

Even though I liked eating a burger from a famous fast food joint, nothing beats the chicken burger my mother makes at home. She prepares everything from scratch, even the burger. Thus, it is extremely fresh and healthy too.

I know and feel that burgers have the great flavour and taste that would make anyone’s stomach pleased after a long day of work. I can tell by the reactions on people’s faces when they order their preferred burger variant. Overall, I don’t believe any other fast food will taste as good as a chicken burger. It’s just difficult to think that something will triumph in the future. As a result, I consider my favourite dish to be the best ever created.

A Great Variety

Perhaps the great thing about burgers is the great variety they offer. It has options for all people, who prefer vegetarian, non-vegetarian and even vegans. Thus, you can select the patty of your burger and dive right in.

There are a large number of burger joints being started in every corner of the city, each serving a variety of their own specialised and self-curated recipes. Burgers that are health-friendly and a go-to with a diet are also being introduced by these newly upcoming burger places. There are a lot many burger cafes that give their customers the choice to create their own burgers by providing them with a choice between patties, fillings, veggies, sauces as well as the number of burger layers they want.

Even though my personal favourite is a chicken burger, I also enjoy eating cheeseburgers and vegetable burgers. For me, all burgers taste delicious. Whenever we go out to eat with friends , I always order a burger.

My friends who do not eat non-vegetarian also eat burgers thanks to the great variety it offers. When we order food at home, we make sure to offer all kinds of burgers from cheeseburgers to chicken burgers, so that we get a taste of everything in our meal. Thus, I love burgers and their great variety makes it better.

People trying to eat healthy food has become a global trend. They not only want to live longer but also desire to look and feel better. This is understandable, as consuming unhealthy food makes one experience life differently; some say eating junk food can make you feel like you have a junk life. In respect to this, we should investigate the healthiest foods to eat and what a balanced diet looks like.

Knowing what items are the healthiest to eat will help you consider them in your daily meals. According to Fitness Magazine, lemons, broccoli, dark chocolate, potatoes, salmon, walnuts, avocados, garlic, spinach, and beans are the top 10 healthiest foods in the world (“The 10 Healthiest Foods on the Planet”).

Let us examine why. “Just one lemon has more than 100 percent of your daily intake of vitamin C, which may help increase “good” HDL cholesterol levels and strengthen bones. Citrus flavonoids found in lemons may help inhibit the growth of cancer cells and act as an anti-inflammatory” (Fitness Magazine). In the case of broccoli, it keeps you away from cancer and gives you loads of vitamin K and C. For dark chocolate, “Just one-fourth of an ounce daily can reduce blood pressure in otherwise healthy individuals. Cocoa powder is rich in flavonoids, antioxidants shown to reduce “bad” LDL cholesterol and increase “good” HDL levels” (Fitness Magazine). Potatoes may not seem super healthy but they are a great source of cell-building folate, and sweet potatoes, in particular, can stave off cancer and provide with you a lot of vitamin A. The Native Americans stayed healthy with salmon, as it is “A great source of omega-3 fatty acids, which have been linked to a reduced risk of depression, heart disease, and cancer. A 3-ounce serving contains almost 50 percent of your daily dose of niacin, which may protect against Alzheimer’s disease and memory loss” (Fitness Magazine). Making its way next on the list is the walnut, which has the omega-3 fatty acids you need (the best out of all the nuts). Avocados are known to be healthy, but most people cannot say why. Well, they are “Rich in healthy, satisfying fats proven in one study to lower cholesterol by about 22 percent. One has more than half the fiber and 40 percent of the folate you need daily, which may reduce your risk of heart disease” (Fitness Magazine). Garlic is another miracle item that not only kills vampires, but also fights many diseases like E. coli, reduces inflammation, and lowers cholesterol and blood pressure levels. Spinach might be Popeye’s favorite thing to chow down on, but “Spinach contains lutein and zeaxanthin, two immune-boosting antioxidants important for eye health. Recent research found that among cancer-fighting fruits and veggies, spinach is one of the most effective” (Fitness Magazine). The last on the list, beans, are more than just meals to invoke stomach gas and to make cowboys feel better. Beans can lower the risk of heart disease and breast cancer.

Now that we know the healthiest foods possible to eat, what comprises a proper diet? Well, most nutritionists point to the fact that we should have variety in our meals. This variety can be looked at through the food groups: vegetables and legumes/beans, fruit, lean meats and poultry, grain, milk, and its products. As you might have noticed, cakes and donuts did not fit in these categories (well, I guess you say a cake is a type of grain, but not really). Food outside the five main groups are considered discretionary choices, and should only be consumed on occasion. Also, if you cannot fit all the food groups in your meals, you can eat them as snacks. Fruit and yogurt, for example, make for fine healthy snacks. The key is to have a balance of all the food groups throughout your day and to indulge outside of them no more than a few times a week (Better Health Channel).

As we have discovered, there are simple ways to maintain fine bodily shape through various, everyday foods that are healthy. Lemons, broccoli, dark chocolate, potatoes, salmon, walnuts, avocados, garlic, spinach, and beans are easy to find around but they are the healthiest food in existence. Besides knowing this, having a balanced diet according to the five main food groups will ensure you remain healthy. The most important thing to remember is to be consistent in your healthy eating.

Pizzas taste the best when they are crispy from sides and soft in the middle. It is my comfort food and no matter how sad I am, it always brings smile on my face. Just thinking about my favorite pizza gives me an irresistible hunger that cannot be filled unless I get my favorite food.

There are my kinds of pizzas including veggie pizza, cheese pizza, meat pizza, pineapple pizza and pepperoni pizza. It is the most loved food of all time and everyone loves to eat pizza.

It is very easy to make pizza at home too. A layer of dough is covered with sauce and different kinds of ingredients. It is then placed in oven and after some time, pizza is ready. I even ask my mother to make pizza for me. She makes the best pizza in this world. Sometimes, she even bribes me with her delicious pizzas to get any work done from me.

We also organize pizza party at home on weekends. I also challenge my siblings that who can eat maximum number of pizza slices. In the end, I always win.

With the help of Japanese pantry staples like miso and soy sauce, she makes a variety of traditional Japanese side dishes. She shows the wonders of food, even when executed in its simplest form. 

“I make pesto out of kale stems, toast the squash seeds for salad and repurpose my leftovers into brand new dishes. I love cooking because it’s an exercise in play. Cooking is forgiving in improvisation, and it can often surprise you. The Modes of Discourse—Exposition, Description, Narration, Argumentation (EDNA)—are common paper assignments you may encounter in your writing classes. Although these genres have been criticized by some composition scholars, the Purdue OWL recognizes the wide spread use of these approaches and students’ need to understand and produce them.

What is an expository essay?

The expository essay is a genre of essay that requires the student to investigate an idea, evaluate evidence, expound on the idea, and set forth an argument concerning that idea in a clear and concise manner. This can be accomplished through comparison and contrast, definition, example, the analysis of cause and effect, etc.

Please note : This genre is commonly assigned as a tool for classroom evaluation and is often found in various exam formats.

The structure of the expository essay is held together by the following.

  • A clear, concise, and defined thesis statement that occurs in the first paragraph of the essay.

It is essential that this thesis statement be appropriately narrowed to follow the guidelines set forth in the assignment. If the student does not master this portion of the essay, it will be quite difficult to compose an effective or persuasive essay.

  • Clear and logical transitions between the introduction, body, and conclusion.

Transitions are the mortar that holds the foundation of the essay together. Without logical progression of thought, the reader is unable to follow the essay’s argument, and the structure will collapse.

  • Body paragraphs that include evidential support.

Each paragraph should be limited to the exposition of one general idea. This will allow for clarity and direction throughout the essay. What is more, such conciseness creates an ease of readability for one’s audience. It is important to note that each paragraph in the body of the essay must have some logical connection to the thesis statement in the opening paragraph.

  • Evidential support (whether factual, logical, statistical, or anecdotal).

Often times, students are required to write expository essays with little or no preparation; therefore, such essays do not typically allow for a great deal of statistical or factual evidence.

  • A bit of creativity!

Though creativity and artfulness are not always associated with essay writing, it is an art form nonetheless. Try not to get stuck on the formulaic nature of expository writing at the expense of writing something interesting. Remember, though you may not be crafting the next great novel, you are attempting to leave a lasting impression on the people evaluating your essay.

  • A conclusion that does not simply restate the thesis, but readdresses it in light of the evidence provided.

It is at this point of the essay that students will inevitably begin to struggle. This is the portion of the essay that will leave the most immediate impression on the mind of the reader. Therefore, it must be effective and logical. Do not introduce any new information into the conclusion; rather, synthesize and come to a conclusion concerning the information presented in the body of the essay.

A complete argument

Perhaps it is helpful to think of an essay in terms of a conversation or debate with a classmate. If I were to discuss the cause of the Great Depression and its current effect on those who lived through the tumultuous time, there would be a beginning, middle, and end to the conversation. In fact, if I were to end the exposition in the middle of my second point, questions would arise concerning the current effects on those who lived through the Depression. Therefore, the expository essay must be complete, and logically so, leaving no doubt as to its intent or argument.

The five-paragraph Essay

A common method for writing an expository essay is the five-paragraph approach. This is, however, by no means the only formula for writing such essays. If it sounds straightforward, that is because it is; in fact, the method consists of:

  • an introductory paragraph
  • three evidentiary body paragraphs
  • a conclusion

Expository Writing: Food Literacies

Writing food: literacy on farms and in gardens, course description.

This section of English 350 is a course on expository writing viewed through the lens on food, a topic that is often political and always human. We will look at food to understand how writing works in the world. Food growing, processing, and sharing involves literacies influenced by culture, gender, politics, and class. Together we will investigate how food shapes arguments, serves as cultural touchstone, troubles and supports economies, and creates puzzles in contemporary writing: What literacies facilitate the movement of food cultures across borders? How does bilingualism impact migrant labor on farms? How does writing preserve culinary heritage like recipes and gardening? More centrally, the course will move through the following conceptual questions:

  • How is literacy social?
  • How is food social?
  • How do social conditions, practices, local/global events, routines, traditions, or values around food involve those same elements of literacy?
  • How does changing what we see in food change what we understand about literacy?

Learning Goals

Our central goal is to broaden conceptions of literacy to include its cultural, economic, and political force. English 350 aims to combine theory and application, exploring theory that complicates commonplace assumptions about food and writing, applying such complications to local, lived settings, and helping us all develop a more nuanced understanding of literacy.

Course Assignments

Social literacies: food memoir (4-5 pages).

In this personal narrative, you will explore the social dynamics—politics, culture, gender, language—of a food memory. You can present memories rooted in your family, friends, or personal history however you understand it. The goal is to unearth the social components that shape both the food memory you describe and how writing or literacy show up in those scenes.

Literacy on Farms: Farm Profile (4-5 pages)

This profile will report on an informal interview you conduct with a farmworker, broadly conceived. You can speak with someone who works on a farm, who aspires or is training to farm, or who grew up on a farm, or who has worked in farming the past. As a genre, the profile is flexible and open to creative forms, but the goal of the paper is to show how the movement of food, across farms and farmworker lives, involves (demands?) important kinds of political, economic, and technological literacies.

  Literacy in Gardens: Food Ethnography (8-10 pages)

This research paper is an opportunity to understand how the dynamics of a food issue (think food access, global food shortages and prices, genetically modified food, eating disorders, farm labor and migration) impact the people and settings around you, on or off campus. The notion of “gardens” here can be figurative—as a guiding metaphor to understand how food issues take root—or literal, as a public/private food place. The paper asks you to 1) choose a food issue to explore (perhaps one that has revealed itself by writing the previous paper), 2) observe a local setting impacted by the issue (restaurant, food bank, community garden, migration advocacy organization, farmers market), and 3) collect and analyze written materials that reflect the issue (posters, graffiti, flyers, white papers), compiling all of these to present an ethnographic take on how food and writing impact people’s lives.
