An essay on the topic ‘picnic’ for classes 1, 2 and 3 is a great way to teach them the basics of essay writing. To write an essay on picnic in English, children need to understand the main message that needs to be highlighted. Picnics are a great and fun way to engage with friends and family. Children must know that when writing an essay on a picnic, they need to highlight how it helps them stay connected with their loved ones. Read below to learn about educating children on some key points to remember when writing an essay on picnic and some sample essays that would be a good guide.

When teaching kids how to write a paragraph on a picnic, there are points that they need to remember. The lower primary classes have to focus on how the key message is conveyed. Below are a few key points to remember:

  • An introduction to the topic – picnic.
  • The essay’s main body should speak about the details.
  • The essay should also speak about how a picnic makes a difference.
  • A conclusion that emphasises that the purpose was achieved.
  • Adequate examples must be provided.

Picnics are a great way to engage with family and friends. Spending quality time with people close to us is a great idea. It is an ideal solution to bond when one does not have the time to go for a long trip or a holiday. Easier to plan and affordable, picnics can be a great way to kill boredom and monotony.

When going on a picnic, it is vital to take necessary precautions. It is mandatory to be aware of the venue and its hazards. Thorough research about the place needs to be done and surveyed before planning. One should also check on the amenities and safety procedures there.

There are many ways for kids to enjoy a picnic with their family. There are many ways to have fun, from outdoor games like lemon and spoon race, football, etc., to indoor games like Bingo, Scrabble, and Monopoly. Singing sessions and impromptu dance duos could also be a good idea.

Kids in classes 1 and 2 often go on a picnic from school, which is a good topic to get them to write creatively. Below is a template for an essay for classes 1 and 2 on school picnic:

  • My class went for a picnic to a flower garden last week.
  • The students of standard 1 went for a picnic with the class teachers.
  • We sang songs during the journey.
  • We ate snacks on the bus.
  • We reached the flower garden, and our teachers took us inside.
  • We toured the garden and saw some beautiful flowers.
  • When it was lunchtime, we laid our mats on the ground and had our lunch.
  • Our teachers made us play games like hide and seek and relay races.
  • We started the journey back to school in the evening.
  • I enjoyed my day with my friends and teachers in the flower garden.

Family picnics are a great time for bonding and spending quality time with our close ones. Here’s a template to help kids write the essay for classes 1 and 2.

  • My family and I went on a picnic to a museum yesterday.
  • My father, mother, brother and I went together, as we wanted to visit a museum.
  • My mother had made a picnic basket with food, snacks and drinks for us to eat at a scenic spot.
  • My brother and I took our football to play together, as the museum also had a garden.
  • Once we reached the museum, we walked around the area.
  • After touring the museum, we went to the garden and lay down our mats.
  • We then ate the delicious food that my mother had packed.
  • Once we finished lunch, my brother and I played football for some time.
  • My mother, father, brother, and I played a few board games.
  • We came back in the evening. We enjoyed our day and decided to go on more such picnics.

Children in the lower primary classes will be expected to write a short paragraph on a picnic for the essay section. An example of a short essay on picnics below could be used as a guide:

Our school organised a picnic for us on Children’s Day. We went to a water park that was full of rides and greenery. We travelled with our friends and teachers. On reaching the water park, we were served hot tomato soup as it was the winter season. We then changed into our swimming dresses to go on the rides. Our teachers joined us too. We spent our time on the rides until lunchtime. We were served hot pizzas, french fries, and juice for lunch. Before we left, we were given a small token from the resort, and we took a group photo together. The picnic was a lot of fun, and we enjoyed spending time with our friends and teachers.

Writing a family essay could be an easy task for kids. But an essay on a picnic with family could be a little difficult. The example below could be a start for writing an essay about a picnic with family:

My family decided to go on a picnic over the long weekend. The farmhouse near the city’s outskirts was chosen as the venue. My mother, father, sister, and I drove to the farmhouse early in the morning with my uncle, aunt and their son. We reached there at 10 in the morning. The farmhouse had a pool, garden and an entertainment room. We spent some time swimming in the pool and then played a few games of cricket in the garden. We then took a short break for some refreshments. We went back to playing football in the garden and played until lunch. For lunch, we ordered a meal from the restaurant next door. We enjoyed the delicious lunch and then went to the entertainment room to relax. We watched a movie and then went to the nearby café for snacks in the evening. After a cup of coffee, we took photos together as a family for memories. We then started back home and reached by evening. It was a memorable day for all of us.

Children in class 3 can articulate better and have more knowledge. However, an essay template could really help them. Below is a picnic essay for class 3 that could help them spark their creativity:

I once went on a picnic at a resort with my school. We took a bus to the resort and, on the way, sang songs along with the teachers. After we reached the resort, we played in the garden and spent time on the rides. We spent time on the rides until lunchtime, and then our teachers took us to the dining hall for lunch. The lunch was delicious, with large portions of dishes. After we finished our lunch, our teachers gathered us in the garden, and we played some games like hopscotch, egg and spoon race, and more. We enjoyed spending time with our friends and teachers until the evening when it was time to leave. We clicked a few group photos and took the bus back home. It was such a wonderful day spent with my friends.

Another picnic that I love is the one with my family. It was a long weekend, and since we did not want to go on a long holiday, we decided to take a day trip to the beach. My father, mother, brother, and I set off early to the beach as the weather was hot and sunny. My mother packed some snacks and drinks to eat on the way. My father decided to drive, and we listened to music as we travelled to the beach. When we reached the beach, we immediately headed to the water and spent time swimming! After a few hours, we tucked into the refreshments that my mother had packed. We then drove back home, and I thoroughly enjoyed my day with my family.

By writing on this topic, a child learns to articulate their thoughts about spending quality time with people. Writing on this topic can be developed by getting children to organise their thoughts.

Essay writing is a vital skill for children to learn right from the primary classes. Reading and writing will help children develop these skills. The above templates will help children know how to structure their essays on a topic like a picnic.

One of the best ways to relieve our stress is to go on a picnic. Picnics are usually enjoyed by both children and adults. Going out on a picnic acts as a remedy to our stress and helps us come back with a lot of freshness and rejuvenation.

In this blog, we have provided an essay on picnic in 200, 300 and 400 words. This will help all the students to write on this topic. Read more to get a fair idea as to how you can write on it.

Essay on Picnic in 200 Words

A picnic, an old custom, provides the ideal diversion from the pressures of modern life. It’s a day of simplicity, joy, and connectedness to loved ones and the natural world.

Families and friends assemble in parks, on the shores of lakes while the sun warmly illuminates the surroundings. They spread out blankets decorated with an abundance of homemade treats. The hungry will find sandwiches, seasonal fruits, and refreshing lemonade. A dinner becomes a memorable feast when it is simply shared outside. This simple act of doing so increases the food’s flavour.

The natural melody of birds and rustling leaves is delightfully complemented by conversation and laughter. While kids discover the outdoor attractions, soccer balls and frisbees may fly. The day is for playing games, unwinding, and admiring the scenery.

Picnics promote quality time spent with loved ones and strengthen ties. They provide a break from screens, emails, and due dates while bringing back memories of simpler pleasures in life. Picnics produce priceless memories, whether they are enjoyed by the tranquil sound of a lake or in the shadow of a large oak tree.

In those moments, the world feels beautifully uncomplicated, and our souls find solace in the embrace of nature. Picnics are more than just meals outdoors; they are a celebration of life, love, and the enduring human need for connection and relaxation.

Essay on Picnic in 300 Words

Picnics are enjoyable outings that enrich and calm our lives. Last summer, when my family and I made the decision to get away from the rush and bustle of city life and spend the day in the middle of nature, I had one such unforgettable picnic.

We settled on a gorgeous location next to a calm lake surrounded by luxuriant green foliage. A pleasant symphony was produced by the rustling of the leaves as the early sun touched the water and placed a golden hue on it.

The day was jam-packed with entertainment. I was playing catch with my younger sister as my parents had a leisurely stroll around the lake. My mother made those sandwiches with such care, and they were just unmatched in flavour.

We decided to continue our exploration of the area after lunch. In the midst of the tranquil beauty of the lake, we rented a rowboat and set out on the water. Fish were darting beneath the surface in the glisteningly bright water. Even my father gave fishing a shot, but we only managed to reel in a few little fish.

We gathered along the lake’s side as the day dragged on to watch the sunset. The horizon was painted with hues of orange, pink, and purple as the sky changed into a canvas of warm colours. We were all in amazement at the sight, which served as a reminder of nature’s utter beauty.

We started a bonfire and told tales around it as darkness began to fall over the scene. The roaring fire and the shooting stars above gave the night a magical touch.

We reluctantly packed our things and said goodbye to our wonderful location. That picnic’s memories will live on in my heart always. It served as a reminder that, despite our hectic schedules, these are the times we actually value.

Essay on Picnic in 400 Words

A picnic is a lovely outdoor activity that enables individuals to escape from the bustle of daily life, spend quality time with loved ones, and connect with nature. The core of a picnic is found in the straightforward joys it provides, whether the excursion is a last-minute adventure or a carefully planned outing.

Selecting the ideal venue is the first step in picnic planning. Numerous elements, including closeness, the beauty of the surrounding area, and the activities on offer, may have an impact on this choice.

The menu is the most important consideration after the location is chosen. Delicious food is synonymous with picnics, and a thoughtfully planned spread may increase everyone’s enjoyment. Popular options include cold sandwiches, fruit, chips, salads, and homemade desserts. To guarantee that everyone’s taste buds are satiated, pack a variety of dishes.

The menu comes second in importance after the choice of site. Delicious food is a picnic staple, and a well-planned spread may increase everyone’s enjoyment. Fresh fruit, chips, salads, cold sandwiches, and handmade sweets are all common options. Everyone’s taste buds will be satiated if a variety of dishes are packed.

Excitation is in the air as the gang gathers on the day of the picnic. Gathered with smiles, baskets, and blankets, friends and family are prepared to enjoy the embrace of nature. Everyone contributes in order to create the ideal setting for relaxation as they work together to set up a cosy picnic area.

The menu comes next in importance once the venue has been selected. A thoughtfully planned spread can improve the entire enjoyment of a picnic, which is linked with good food. Popular options include cold sandwiches, fruits straight from the garden, chips, salads, and homemade desserts.

The picnickers are filled with satisfaction as the day comes to an end and the sun starts to set. It’s time to tidy up, store the leftovers from the feast, and leave the area as spotless as you found it. This commitment to the environment assures that picnickers in the future can take in the same unspoiled splendour.

In conclusion, a picnic is more than just a lunch outside; it’s a rejuvenating event for both body and spirit. It’s time to unplug from technology and re-establish relationships with friends, family, and the environment.

After we had rested in the afternoon, my sister sang some songs for us. She has a very sweet voice. Suddenly, the sky! became overcast. As it was about to rain, we quickly gathered our things and rushed to hire a taxi.

Essay on My Favourite Picnic Spot

Students are often asked to write an essay on My Favourite Picnic Spot in their schools and colleges. And if you’re also looking for the same, we have created 100-word, 250-word, and 500-word essays on the topic.

Let’s take a look…

100 Words Essay on My Favourite Picnic Spot

Introduction.

My favourite picnic spot is the city park. It is a place filled with lush greenery, a beautiful lake, and a playground.

Why City Park?

The city park is my favourite because it offers a variety of activities. I love feeding the ducks in the lake and playing on the swings.

Memorable Moments

One of my fondest memories is having lunch under a big tree with my family. We enjoyed homemade sandwiches and laughed a lot.

The city park is more than a picnic spot to me. It’s a place where I create beautiful memories with my loved ones.

250 Words Essay on My Favourite Picnic Spot

The beauty of goa.

Goa, a small state on India’s western coast, is renowned for its vibrant culture, historical architecture, and pristine beaches. The beach, with its golden sand stretching along the azure sea, is my preferred retreat. The beauty of the place is not just in its physical attributes but also in the soothing ambiance it provides.

Activities and Experiences

The beach offers a plethora of activities. From building sandcastles to playing volleyball, there’s never a dull moment. However, I find solace in the simpler things: reading a book under the shade of a palm tree, or walking along the shore, feeling the cool water wash over my feet. The sunset, a mesmerising spectacle of hues, is a moment I eagerly anticipate.

Connection to Nature

The beach’s natural setting allows me to connect with nature, a luxury often missed in the concrete jungle of the city. The rhythmic sound of the waves, the rustling of the palm leaves, and the chirping of the birds harmonize into a soothing symphony, providing a therapeutic effect.

In conclusion, the Goa beach, with its serene environment and captivating beauty, is my favourite picnic spot. It offers a much-needed break from the monotonous routine and an opportunity to reconnect with nature. Amid the stress of college life, it serves as a sanctuary, a place of peace and relaxation.

500 Words Essay on My Favourite Picnic Spot

Picnics are an escape from the daily grind, a chance to immerse ourselves in the tranquillity of nature, and an opportunity to create lasting memories with loved ones. My favourite picnic spot, the serene and picturesque Lake Tahoe, is a testament to these sentiments.

Location and Natural Beauty

Activities and entertainment.

Lake Tahoe is not just about serene landscapes; it’s a hub of recreational activities that cater to diverse interests. During summer, the lake becomes a playground for water sports enthusiasts. Kayaking, paddleboarding, and jet-skiing are some of the thrilling activities one can indulge in. The surrounding trails offer an excellent opportunity for hiking and mountain biking, allowing one to explore the region’s flora and fauna.

In winter, the snow-clad mountains transform into a paradise for skiers and snowboarders. The region’s ski resorts, with their well-groomed slopes and state-of-the-art facilities, attract winter sports aficionados from around the world.

Cultural Significance

Environmental responsibility.

What makes Lake Tahoe truly special is the commitment to environmental responsibility. The ‘Keep Tahoe Blue’ initiative aims to protect the lake’s clarity and ecological health. As visitors, we are encouraged to follow the principles of ‘Leave No Trace’, ensuring our activities do not harm the environment. This sustainable approach enhances the overall experience of visiting Lake Tahoe, reinforcing its position as my favourite picnic spot.

Lake Tahoe, with its breathtaking natural beauty, array of activities, rich cultural history, and commitment to sustainability, holds a special place in my heart. It provides a much-needed respite from the fast-paced urban life, allowing one to reconnect with nature and oneself. The memories I’ve created there are a treasure trove of joy and tranquillity. For these reasons and more, Lake Tahoe remains my favourite picnic spot.

Everyone gets together in a place, ideally a park or resort with a lot of open space, and cook meals and eat lunch together, play games, and spend a whole day making merry and memories. In tropical countries like India, families generally plan exciting picnics during winter holidays because, during that time, the weather remains largely pleasant. These picnics though apparently mere get-togethers have immense significance in our life. They allow us to take a break from our busy routine and spend time with our family which is very important for our mental and emotional well-being. In this essay, I shall talk about a family picnic that was probably one of the best days of my life.

Picnic Day With My Family

Last spring our whole family decided to go to a nearby park for a fun outing and a picnic at the same time. The day before the picnic we could no longer hold our excitement. We spent the entire day planning what we will do and what we will eat. Thinking about all the fun we were going to have made my heart flutter.

The next day after packing our things we left our home at 8 am. The picnic spot was about 2 hours away from our home. We had packed delicious food prepared by my mother. On our way to the picnic spot, we played “antakshari” in the car. I could not wait to reach the spot.

Fun At The Picnic Spot

Finally at 10.30 am we reached the picnic spot. It was a beautiful land on the banks of a river. There was a large area of a green field with a lot of bushes and trees scattered here and there. The river and sky met at the horizon. There was a continuous flow of cool breeze blowing from the river to the banks. It was a mesmerizing sight to behold.

Me and my siblings, we started playing games with the adults including my mother, father, uncle and aunt. We played gully cricket and hide and seek. Soon the adults became tired so me and my siblings, we started racing across the fields.

Finally, we were too tired to play anymore. This was the time for the most amazing part of the picnic, the food. We had brought tasty home-cooked meals from our homes. We unpacked our food and divided it among ourselves. After so many activities my hunger had increased. The food tasted tastier than usual, maybe it was because of the company of the whole family, or maybe it was because I was very hungry. After completing our lunch all of us went for a boat ride. It was my first time riding a boat. At first, I was scared but then slowly I overcame my fear and started enjoying the ride. Then around 5.00 pm, we left for home.

The memories I gathered at the family picnic are some moments I will cherish all through my life. The picnic not only provided a break from the everyday mundane life but also made me happy and allowed me to spend some quality time with my family. I hope we can plan more picnics in the future.

Essay on A Picnic

Last Monday our principal granted us a one-day holiday because our class had shown brilliant results in the annual examinations. The day was cloudy and a pleasant breeze was blowing across.

We set off on our bicycles (motor-bikes) in high spirits, each carrying a basket. We took the main road. The green fields of wheat and other crops, waving in the breeze, stretched on either side greeted us.

At last, we reached the river. The water was flowing quietly. We came upon a grassy spot under a large banyan tree. We disembarked our baskets and kettles. We were now tired and hungry. Rahul and I went to gather some dry branches.

Jyoti lit the fire and placed the kettle on it for preparing tea for all of us. Raju opened the baskets. O, what a delicious tea it was I had never tasted one like that before.

We opened our lunch boxes and had a hearty lunch of pastry, cakes, bananas, biscuits, oranges and pooris’. We made merry for hours. We sang, danced, told stories and played cards.

In the afternoon we hired a boat and started rowing downstream, Sweety and I took the oars. Rahul was in a jolly mood He began to sing songs. All of a sudden, he fell into the water rolling over the side of the boat. Next minute, we were all in water, struggling for our lives.

Raju and I could swim. But Rahul was nowhere to be seen We all wondered where he had slipped. But just then, we saw his head rise above the surface of the water. I swam up to him, caught hold of his clothes before he could go down again and pulled him out to the bank.

So it all ended well. Though frightened, we were tired So we took rest for sometime. We returned home late in the evening. We were all thankful to God that the picnic had ended on a happy note

Picnic Spot

Finally, we reached our destination. The moment we reached the ticket window, the kids in the family started jumping with excitement. While we were purchasing the tickets, the kids started getting restless to wait. Then we entered for our awaiting adventure for the picnic with the family. As soon as we entered, the beauty of the place welcomed us with a cool breeze on our faces.

We put on the costumes and entered the pool. The coldness of the water was soothing one. Each splash brought a smile on everyone’s face. Everybody went back to their childhood. The youngest one in the picnic with family was 3.5-year-old, who had entered the pool for the first time. He was the happiest amongst all. After spending a considerate amount of time playing with water, we had to struggle a lot to take kids out from the pool.  What a memorable time it was during a picnic with the family.

Then we started heading towards the food zone. The fun in the pool has led to an empty stomach which was making a lot of funny noise. And the aroma of the delicious food which was coming from the food zone had aced our pace towards it.

The kids in the family started making a list of all the things that they wanted to eat. We ordered everyone’s favorite dish and sat waiting for the food to come. This waiting time was the most torturous one. And finally, our hot and tasty food came. We literally attacked it like the hungry animals. The next 30 minutes was complete silence. Everybody in the picnic with family was busy enjoying their own favorite delicacy. We finished eating and left for home.

Though the picnic with family was over, still it is alive in over memories. All the good time we spent together, a lot of beautiful pictures, will always be with us in our memories. We will soon plan our next picnic with family to rejoice our love, bonding, and happiness together.

Essay on picnic

One of the most interesting and unforgettable picnics that I took with my family when I was young. But we were going with the whole family, and because of the presence of the grandfather and the grandmother and all the relatives, we had great fun.

The picnics are beautiful when we are many and the relationship between us is good. If the number is small and the relationship is bad, it will become a terrible nightmare and not a beautiful picnic.

In elementary school I went with my family to the summer resort and there were about 30 people. Our ages ranged from 5 to 60 years.

We chose to camp at the seaside for 3 days. The adults provided us with places to sleep and food. As children, we used to play in the sea and on the beach with happiness and without worry or fear.

And when night came, we would light bonfires and we would all sit around them. We were telling stories and making jokes while eating fruit and nuts.

Beach trips are among the most beautiful trips you may go on one day. But in order to go to the beach, you must equip yourself with certain equipment.

One of the most important pieces of equipment is the clothes that you will go to the beach with, the most important of which is the appropriate swimwear. And you must take sunscreen and towels with you.

As for the food, it must be ready-made food so that it does not spoil from the intense heat. And do not forget to take drinks and ice water with you to reduce the heat.

And in order to feel the fun, take a device dedicated to playing your favorite music with you so that you can have fun in the evening.

And if you want to have more fun, you can go to the night parties that are held on the beach. At these parties you will dance and have any kind of your favorite drink. You will get to know other visitors and may be able to make new friends.

One person may go to several places that are not similar to each other.

If the holiday is in the spring, we go to the public gardens where greenery and flowers. And if the vacation is in the summer, there is nothing better than the sea to swim and relax on the beach

But when the holidays are in the winter, it is a special time, and we go to the air-conditioned cinema with friends or family, to watch a fun movie while eating popcorn.

There are other places that can be visited in winter, such as the famous archaeological sites that lie in the middle of the extremely hot desert, where it is impossible to visit in the summer.

Every time of the year has its own holiday that suits the weather, as summer is very hot. In the summer we go to the beach. In winter the weather is very cold, so we go ice skating.

From time to time we go to explore the nearby caves and enjoy the clean air and waters of the nearby waterfalls.

It was a very enjoyable and relaxing trip.

When you sleep in the desert feel great psychological comfort.

Therefore, doctors advise some people who suffer from psychological and nervous stress to go out on trips through nature.

Picnic with family essay

Going out with the family can be fun and boring. It’s fun if the family has kids your age, so you can talk to them and play with them. But if all your family members are adults then you will get bored and will not like the trip.

That is why I would ask my mother about my relatives before going on a family trip, and if my cousins would come, I would go with them without hesitation. But if they didn’t come I would apologize for the trip and go out with my friends.

And when we go out with the family, we bring a tent with us to feel the camping atmosphere. We bring delicious food with us so that we can have fun during the trip and not feel hungry because of a lot of running and playing. And don’t forget to bring the games that we will play such as soccer, tack and others.

Write a paragraph on a picnic

In everyone’s life there are memories of a particular journey, whether it was good or bad. For me, there were two kinds of trips in my life.

The first trip was beautiful and enjoyable, and it is a trip to a distinctive coastal city. What I loved about this trip was that it was with the whole family. We played and had fun the whole trip.

The second type of trips are bad trips that leave a sad impression. I had a bad trip with some unpopular neighbors. I was bored and couldn’t get up or enjoy the sea because of their looks and their watching over me at every step.

That is why I advise all my close friends to know who they are going with on the trip before they go. And if they find undesirable people, they must back away from going and look for another trip with good people so as not to spoil the trip.

Fortunately there are many places to spend the holiday, these days all countries are interested in entertainment.

Essay on School Picnic 200 words

It was the first day in school after first term examination when school picnic for this year was announced in the class. Everyone has been excited since then. This year’s picnic was destined to be at Vananchal resort which is located in the forest of Jambughoda. Luckily for me and my group permission of our parents has never been a problem, so we were set to go since the day of announcement.

It was a cold winter morning, the school bus departed at sharp seven in the morning. Almost two hour long route to the resort felt like a matter of few minutes as we played fun games with fellow classmates. We reported to the resort at around 9, we were all provided welcome drinks. Then we left for nature walk where we saw varied types of trees and birds. After the nature walk it was time for the most exciting part of the picnic.

Yes! It was pool time which unfortunately couldn’t last whole day. That’s the thing about pool, no matter how long you get to be in it, it’s never enough. Then we had lunch, followed by some fun activities such as rappelling and zip-line which too was fun. The time passed so soon that we couldn’t even realize the day was over. This was indeed a day I’ll cherish for a long time.

Essay on School Picnic to Water Park 300 words

“Picnic”, a day every student in the school is eagerly awaits the whole year. This year’s school picnic was to be held at Splash Water Park which was at three hour’s drive from our school. Everyone from my class was showing up for the picnic expect for one of my friend Kashyap who unfortunately was out of station on the day of picnic to attend some family function.

School Picnic to Water Park

On the day of the picnic unlike every other day we reported to the school earlier than our regular timings, due to excitement, obviously! Our class was divided into four groups of ten students each. Each group had one leader to watch upon the respective team members. I was the captain of our group.

We reached the destination at 10am and were given half an hour to collect our swim suits take a shower and get ready for the real fun. Water Park was full of amazing water rides namely Demon’s hole, lazy river, Amazonia, free fall, loop hole, etc. Demon’s hole and Amazonia were my favourite. Demon’s hole was a dark cylindrical water slide with utterly thrilling twists and turns and Amazonia was a super large water slide which took us through an artificially created jungle, which gave a feel of passing through the streams in Amazon rain forests.

In lunch, we were served lip-smacking Punjabi food with gulab jamuns in dessert. Then, there was a wave pool, besides which there was a beautiful artificial waterfall. We checked out from the park at 5pm in the evening and returned to our school at around eight.

I remember almost nothing from the return journey as we were all tired till the end of the day. Our legs were paining as they had exercised hard while climbing those steps for the slides, and thus out of exhaustion almost everyone was asleep in the bus while returning. It was a day well spent.

Essay on School Picnic to Amusement Park 400 words

Amusement park have always been my favourite destination for a day out. To my delight this year’s school picnic was destined to Essel world. This picnic meant a lot as it was our tenth standard and maybe was the last year together in school. Next year I and my friends will be in different streams. We had every hope to make this one memorable so that we bid goodbye having loads of happy memories.

School Picnic to Amusement Park

Sleepless night has always been a pre-picnic symptom for me. I could never sleep until late at night before picnic out of thoughts of how amazing the following day would be. The way from school to the amusement park was quite a long one during which we played dumb charades and truth and dare to kill time.

We were dropped at a place via bus from which we had to check in a boat to further reach the amusement park. From the boat we could see a ride called Shot-N-Drop. We could hear the shouts of people enjoying the ride and could feel the thrill from the boat itself. It was our day today, maybe the last one with our people, and we had to make the most out of it. So, without even wasting a minute we rushed into the park to gain the most out of it.

Today, I don’t remember every ride we had been on, but I still remember the butterflies in my stomach when a ride named thunder swung us all from one side to the other, those moments of thrill and fear when Shot-N-Drop had us on free fall, those goose bumps when Top-Spin whirled us round, those stupid laughs when our dashing cars dashed into others, that joy of finally making out of Alibaba’s mirror maze and that tingling moment when Aqua-dive splash splashed upon us the droplets of cold water.

The happiness that we gained in the most simple things in life, bursting into laughter after playing pranks on our fellow classmates and that momentary anger of the one who had been pranked, those tired yet smiling faces at the end of the day and many more tingling moments are the memories to cherish forever.

Memories of this day will always hold a cosy corner in my and all our hearts. Somewhere I still wish if I could go back to this day again and feel that same thing with those same people all over again.

Essay on School Picnic to Zoo 500 words

I was in standard 3 rd when my school had arranged a picnic to Kamla Nehru zoo situated besides Kankaria Lake, Ahmedabad. Being a kid, I was extremely excited for the picnic. A day before picnic I went to the nearby shop with my father to buy some snacks for the picnic. I bought a packet of chips, cookies, soya sticks and few packets of chewing gum.

My School Picnic to Zoo

This was probably the only day in the whole year when I would pack my things up the previous night, obviously because I didn’t want to get late on the picnic day. After making my things ready I made a conference call with my friends. We discussed about how excited we all were for our picnic. We fixed the time we were going to catch up the next day.

I was up before the alarm despite not being able to sleep until late at night. I got to school at around 7am in the morning, half an hour prior to the reporting time. We had to be in pair on this day, which was decided on the basis of roll numbers, luckily for me I partnered up with Manan whose number was right next to me. Singing, dancing, playing we travelled the road till the destination. We were served ice-cream as soon as we got there. We were all excited to step in the zoo.

First of all we had to enter the bird section where we saw a number of varied and beautiful birds. Toucan, a black and yellow coloured bird with a large beak, kingfisher a little bird with most vivid colours, Hornbill a beautiful bird with a horn like thing on its head and albatross a fine white and black coloured with aquatic habitat were some of the birds we saw. We also saw deer, hippopotamus, fox, wolf, alligator, crocodile, wild ass, yellow python snake, bear and many more. But our favourite ones were still left, where we had to visit after the lunch.

Finally, after the lunch it was the time for which we were all so excited about – to see the fastest animal cheetah, the national animal tiger and of course the king of the jungle, lion. We also saw jaguar and leopard. We were done with the zoo at around 3 in the afternoon, and we had time until 5 pm so the teachers decided to take us all to have a look around at Kankaria Lake. It was a beautiful place.

We sat on a mini toy train there which took us on a ride around the lake. After everyone completed the ride, it was almost 5 which was the time to leave for home. Teachers started counting the number of students, which brought them to the conclusion that one kid from our class has been missing. The teachers panicked however they were finally able to find Hussain, the lost one after 10 minutes of search operation.

Today, it might be a mere picnic to a zoo, but when I remember back I realized how these little things used to make me happy.

Essay on School Picnic to Kidzania 600 words

School trips are the most awaited ones. They not only give us a long break from our monotonous lives but also bring lots of memories. Last year, I went to Kidzania for the school trip and here are my experiences from that trip.

My School Picnic to Kidzania

Our day at Kidzania began at 9 in the morning. I was stunned looking at this wonderful place which was actually a city which we have all dreamt about. It was clean, had well organized buildings, well developed roads, factories, police station, grocery shops, trees and everything that is present in a well developed city. The day began with Kidzania theme song where all the staff members dance and welcome the kids and their parents.

Just as every country has its own currency; Kidzania also has its own currency named Kidzos. After entering every child is given a cheque of 50 Kidzos which he/ she can withdraw whenever needed to enjoy the activities in the Kidzania world.

There were different buildings build for different purposes. There were offices, factories and many other places where we can work and get salary in Kidzos. The kids are divided in different groups for different jobs as per their age. First of all, I and my friends went to the dentist and learnt some skills for removing the tooth having cavities. Not only this, we also did check up of other kids with different instruments. At the end of that, the head dentist made us understand about how crucial it is to do proper brushing. After that, we went to the bakery and made our very own delicious donuts.

We also did the wall painting on a very huge wall besides the road. Then, we got to know that there is a fashion show and we can walk on the ramp wearing those beautiful clothes. I and my friends couldn’t control our excitement and we immediately went for that. We walked through the ramp and it was an amazing experience. To our excitement, we saw an ice cream parlour next to that building. Going inside we realized that we can make our own ice cream, of whichever flavour we like. Similarly, there was a Kinder Joy factory where we made Kinder Joy and a Kellogs factory where we made Chocos.

Not just work, there were buildings in which there were classes to learn dance, play guitar, drums and flute, and also sing. So, we tried out almost everything we could. I learnt few notes on guitar and that was my first time on any musical instrument. After learning all this new stuff, we thought to try our hands on gadgets also. So, we went to the gadget store nearby where we were given information about the technology used in mobile phones and laptops. It was real fun.

To end our tour, there was a series of folk dances and music where all the kids had prepared something of their own for the entertainment of the audiences. I was also a part of a group with whom I performed Bhangra. This made us interact with other kids more and that is where I made my new friends who were basically from Amritsar, my birth place. All of the shows, including the singing event, helped us know how amazingly talented other kids were. After all of this there was a thank you speech by the staff members with whom we were also connected now.

All of this experience of being part of this amazing world was beyond words. It was the world where we not just used the amenities but also helped in creating them. The joy of making something on your own was just beyond words. Every kid should once visit Kidzania in their childhood and make long lasting memories there.

After the Board Exams, The Picnic itinerary was sent to all of us in our emails, and It was a huge relief seeing the subject of the email as ‘Picnic’ instead of ‘Homework’ or ‘Practice Sheets.’

The School Picnic is a short but lovely experience that engages the teachers and students into a world of fun that can never happen in classrooms. In short, it is an occasion that we all look forward to. This year we planned to visit the Eldorado park in Mumbai. Most of the students had not visited this place and it was a mystery that held a lot of surprises between us. Entering the park, we looked around and chose the rides that we wanted to hop on. The Rides ranged from safe to merely thrilling and I was someone who wanted thrill at all times. We sat on the rollercoaster ride which was an extremely enthusiastic ride as we roamed up and down the rail relentlessly. The ‘Flip-line’ was also a joy but a bit scary for some people who were afraid of heights. We were strapped on with safety belts from our torsos and sent off hanging on the line from one point to the other.

We had a mesmerizing view of the mountain tops that resided near the amusement park. Some people even had stripped off their clothes and after putting on some light clothes, jumped into the pool. Yes, the pool time was one of my favorites which did not last for long. We jumped around and got out during the evening time.

The school workers took out their pots and pans along with the food. After thirty minutes, a delicious smell filled the air. After all, Picnics were all about good company and superb food, and we had both! As we all devoured the delicious Chinese food and Maggi watching the sunset, we realized that there would be no moment beautiful than this. After dinner, we all danced to music with all our hearts, though none of us was even near to being a good dancer.

Soon, The Time passed so soon that we didn’t even realize that the day was over. But at that moment, glancing through the windows of my bus and with earphones hanging from my ears, the music had a different meaning of happiness that not only soothed the mind but reached the heart and caressed it. Undoubtedly, this was going to be cherished as the best days of my normal human life.

Short Essay on a Picnic with Family – Essay 1 (200 words)

Introduction

In order to escape from the hustle and bustle of the routine life, a retreat is a must. What can be more enjoyable than a picnic time with family with whom we do not get to spend enough time? A picnic not only freshens up the mind, but also helps us to explore new places and enjoy food with our family.

The Picnic – How It Was

We chose the community park of our locality that is situated right beside the limpid brook. The park had a children’s play area where the kids of our family played on slides, swings and other play equipments.

We carried our lunch to the park and decided to have it at the separate picnic area, which we had reserved for that day. After lunch, we sat near the brook, fed the ducks and squirrels and took a walk along the trail. The sunset seen above the brook during twilight was magical and we returned before it was dark.

It was a day well spent with all the members of the family and with this we had a great opportunity to breathe in the fresh air. Escaping the daily routine for a day and being in nature’s lap is definitely important in life.

Essay on a Picnic that I Enjoyed with my Family – Essay 2 (300 words)

In the strain of the work load and juggling between multiple chores, having a family picnic was like an alienated topic to me. All I wanted to have was a relaxing getaway with my family at some place off the beaten path where the city commotions will not be deafening and the air will be pure. Finding such a place was not much of a problem as living in countryside comes up with many pristine places which are yet to be explored.

The Long-Awaited Picnic

It was during the weekend of Christmas and we decided to utilize the vacation fully on the outskirts at a nature park. As most people generally gathered at the urban areas to take the full essence of Christmas, the nature park was less crowded and it gave us the opportunity to reserve a campsite to stay overnight and have picnic.

Surrounded by towering Pine grove, the picnic area was serene with only the chirping of the birds penetrating the silence. The murmuring cascade nearby added to the charm of the forest and we made sure to take a dip into the pool formed beneath the waterfall. The hike to the falls was easy for all the members of family and especially my little nephew was overwhelmed.

Appetite soon hit us after taking a refreshing swim and thanks to my mother, we filled our tummies with delicious sandwiches. Meanwhile my brother was busy barbecuing the chicken with his wife and with it, our lunch was sumptuous.

In the evening, we had bonfire at the picnic site and under the starlit sky, the picnic concluded as we entered our respective camps.

Far from the city crowd, a picnic with family was something all of us longed for to explore the other side of life. A small rustic campsite with grille and picnic facility made our time enjoyable and the added bonanza was the refreshing plunge into the pool.

Essay on Outing with My Family – Essay 3 (400 words)

While sunny days are the most convenient for outing, monsoon showers have their own charm and enjoying rain on a family outing has long been on my bucket-list. Being an avid hiker and photographer, the passion for exploring new places run through my genes, just as my father and mother. My sister who lives in another city had come to our place for her vacations and it was a perfect setup to plan an outing which would rejuvenate our mind and let us enjoy the magic of rains to the fullest.

Outing on the Blue Mountains

The Neelakurinji flower that blooms after a cycle of twelve years was the main attraction behind choosing the Blue Mountains or Western Ghats for the family outing. A long drive along the winding paths of Kodaikanal was a treat in itself and all the members of the family enjoyed watching the rain soaked tender green plantation along the road.

The carpet of the purple Neelakurinji along the hill slopes flashed in front of our eyes as we reached the picnic spot. After freshening up at the restroom of the picnic area, we set out to explore the forests passing through which we would reach the slopes of the Neelakurinji flower meadows. Rain had subdued by then and a magical mist emerged from the top of the mountains.

The soil was wet but there was no clogging of water, which made hiking through the grassland easy for us. The number of flowers gradually increased and finally we were standing in a purple flower laden meadow where soil could not be seen beneath.

We spent quality time taking pictures of this rare flower before hiking back to the picnic area. The caretaker of the picnic spot greeted us with fuming coffee sourced from the nearby coffee plantation along with crunchy vegetable chops. The lunch comprised of Fried Rice, Chilly Chicken and fried vegetables which is grown at the farm nearby.

We spent some more hours watching the rain in the mountains while having the fruit custard prepared by the caretaker’s wife. The couple also talked with us regarding his farms and the picnic spot which gets filled with tourists during public holidays. Biding adieu and promising to return someday, we were homebound.

A break from the monotony of life not only infused a sense of tranquility in our mind, but also helped each of us spend quality time with each other, something we do not get scope of in the routine schedules. The Western Ghat outing was a lifetime experience with the Neelakurinjis.

Essay on A Picnic with My Family and Relatives – Essay 4 (500 words)

The series of examinations made my brain tired of long hours of study and I badly needed a time out with my family. As for my family, they too had not been gone for any outing for the past few years and hence, after the last exam, I decided to call up my aged uncle who lives in another city and ask him to come over with his family. It was time for a family picnic where parents and kids could meet for a reunion and spend a day happily.

Deciding the Place

While my little nephew and niece jumped for the waterpark, my cousin called for the city memorial park and the elders wanted to go to the riverside picnic spot. Finally I and my sister-in-law suggested the countryside farm where my cousin could enjoy photography, kids could interact with farm animals and parents could explore the farm. Everyone jumped in unison and I called the farm owner to confirm our picnic visit the day after.

The Journey

Waking up early and getting ready for the picnic outing, we finally set out in our car. The owner had verified our visit that day and also prescribed the route to be taken to reach his farm. My Mother and aunt had packed breakfast for us which were finished in no time. From the well paved city highway, we took the sideway path that led us to the outskirts where the farm is situated. The pasture fields on both sides of the road and the country cottages kept us charmed till we reached the farm.

The Farm and the Picnic

The cheerful old owner was standing in front of the gate to greet us and his friendliness immediately made all of us comfortable. He escorted us to the rustic cottage where the brick fireplace made us feel cozy. We were served homemade cakes and breads before he took us to the petting farm.

My nephew and niece were screaming in joy seeing the large cocks and hens, rabbits, cows, buffalos, ponies and horses roaming about freely. The owner also gave us grains to feed the birds and grass to feed the animals. The best part however was the pony rides, which the kids thoroughly enjoyed.

My uncle and father remained with the kids and animals while my mother and aunt were busy in the barn kitchen preparing the lunch. Meanwhile I, my cousin and sister-in-law accompanied the owner, had a look at his vast farm where he grew sunflowers, grapes, pumpkins, tomatoes, potatoes and radishes.

As it was the harvest time, he let us pick the vegetables and grapes to bring back home as well as use for lunch specials with eggs and meat dishes obtained from the farm only. After having a scrumptious lunch together on the large table, all of us decided to interact with the owner, take a walk around the farm and fondle the animals, before setting out for home with a relaxed and stress free mind.

Although meeting the relatives regularly is not possible, thanks to our tight schedules but a quick plan for picnic brought all of us together to have endless chitchats, have food together and visit a new place together. The day ended with a heavy heart but the memory will remain forever.

Essay on Picnic in the Park with Family – My Best Experience – Essay 5 (600 words)

It was during the scorching summer months of the year and summer vacations were going on. With daily office, school and college, neither my father nor I and my sister could plan for a family picnic. The temperature was increasing day by day and my mother suggested that we all should go for a family picnic at the city waterpark. Nothing could be more refreshing than splashing water for the whole day and relaxing on hammocks under shades of trees.

The Picnic Spot

To avoid the weekend crowds, my father planned the picnic on a weekday. The waterpark had lazy rivers, swimming pools, water slides and splash pads. It also had an amusement center where thrill rides enchanted me. The highlight was a separate picnic area tucked in the garden where mango, banyan, palm and eucalyptus trees provided ample shade. We reserved a poolside cabana and the picnic gazebo overlooking the lazy river right under the shade of the mango tree.

How We Spent the Day

While my mother, my sister and I arranged spare clothes and towels along with some dry food, father finalized the route and picking up time with the car driver. We set out at 8 am and reached the waterpark at 9.30 am. My father took the tickets while I bought the refreshments before entering.

After entering, we put our belongings in the lockers and freshened up at the restroom while my mother made sure we have the stomach-full of breakfast with Bread and Butter, Noodles and Egg Benedicts. Afterwards we decided to check out the play area where kids were riding slides and rocking on swings. Swans were roaming about whom we fed bread crumbs. We then explored the garden area where many annual, perennial and ornamental plants were planted in separate areas. Mother, being an avid gardening enthusiast, was thoroughly delighted to see the rose beds and cactus at the greenhouse.

The temperature was increasing and so we decided to take a dip into the large pool area. Being a weekday, there was not much crowd and we had so much fun splashing water onto each other and jumping at the splash pad area. My parents were a bit hesitant in entering the pool, but we dragged them anyway. As father rented tubes for me and my sister, we decided to take a leisurely float on tubes on the lazy river before having large pepperoni pizzas and fried chicken for lunch from the picnic gazebo.

The main attraction however was the water slides and tunnels which dropped at the main pool. As they were costly, we opted for only one and it was worth it. After some more soaking in the pool, we entered the cabana and change into new clothes. The cold beverages served here, were very refreshing. Next we visited the amusement park to ride the Roller Coaster and Sky Wheel which made our hearts beat faster in delight. I and mother had ice creams while my sister took the candy floss and father took the roasted groundnuts from the concession carousel.

It was late afternoon by then and the sun was not so scorching. As we were tired after so much action, we decided to sit back at the cabana and enjoy watching others in the pools. We were served cold coffee before we started for home at 5 pm.

With a perfect combination of greenery, water slides, pools and amusement rides, our picnic at the city waterpark was full of fun even when the sun beat down upon us mercilessly. The cool water of the pool area was soothing in the sweltering heat and we had the best picnic experience under the mango grove.

Essay on “A Picnic” Complete Essay for Class 10, Class 12 and Graduation and other classes.

Essay No. 1

Picnics, tours, trips, and excursions are part and parcel of our life. They provide us complete opportunities to study the book of Nature as Shakespeare says. “We find sermons in stones, tongues, in trees and books in running brooks”. Picnics, tours, and tours are as important as food and drink.

One Sunday morning, the weather was very fine. The sky was cloudy and cool and a gentle breeze was blowing. My friend and I decide to visit the river Beas which flows at a distance of six kilometers from our town. We were a party of eight friends. We took with us our swimming suits and towels. We also carried a good quality of eatables including fruits. We left home on bicycles at 6 a.m.

The river scenery was also very charming. Water in the river flowed on silently and majestically. Fish swam in the water. There were flocks of water birds sitting on the banks. We parked our bicycles. Then we changed our swimming suits. Then we had a dip in the river. Then we played some games on the soft sand of the river bank. Thereafter, we sat down in a circle to take a rest. One of us was a good singer; he entertained us with many songs. We all were in a gay mood. So we chatted and laughed. We cracked jokes with one another. We heated the food that we carried with us on the stove. We had a hearty meal.

In the meantime, it grew very hot. So we took rest under the shade of a tree. Then we began to play cards. After some time tea was ready, we took tea and eatables; by then it was 5:30 p.m. we took our bicycles and started back home. We reached home at 6:00 p.m. it was a happy day in the pleasant company of friends.

An Outing with the Family

How I Spent A Holiday

It is always good to go out of doors. Free air and an open sky are always welcome. Quite often one feels choked inside the houses and cities. It is good to run away into the open air for a day when one has the time. Picnics were very common for families in older days. But now even picnics are becoming rare and uncommon. Families just do not have time, money, and mood to go away from their boring familiar surroundings. That indeed is one of the greatest ills of modern times.

A picnic is a delightful diversion. It takes you away from your dull daily routine, it produces a soothing effect and adds charm to life. sometimes it is possible to plan and go out. When it is possible, one avail of the opportunity.

We had one such opportunity last Sunday. Early in the morning, we got ready to spend a day at the Okha Canal Bank. My mummy prepared food and my sisters helped in making other preparations. We took a thermos filled with tea and took along a couple of carpets for spreading under the trees to make ourselves feel comfortable.

It was not easy to catch a bus from Connaught Place for Okhla Barrage. We made some inquiries but there was no bus available. We were told to get a bus for Lajpat Nagar and then get a bus for Okhla from there. So we boarded a bus for Lajpat Nagar. But at Lajpat Nagar, we had to wait for an hour to get a bus for Okhla. But Okhla was worth all the trouble we had to take to go there.

It was a beautiful scene and the weather was cooler than in the city. There were green trees and they provided nice shade to the picnickers. Some fishermen were busy catching fish. There were a lot of children playing with each other under the shady trees. There we took our lunch and lunch seemed especially tasty at Okhla. We felt that our lunch was not enough because everyone ate more than usual.

After lunch, we all had a nap under the balmy shade of the trees. The children of one family played with children of other picnickers. Some old women read their holy books. In the afternoon there was a drizzle and even a few drops of rain were very much welcome at that season of the year. But the rain broke the magic web of our sleep. Our sweet dream came to an end.

Now it was getting evening. We took the evening tea which we had brought with us along with some snacks specially made for the trip. When it was getting dark, we boarded a bus and returned home.

An Excursion to a Lake

Picnicking is a very good source of recreation as well as instruction. I try my best to have at least one picnic party in a month.

Last Sunday I along-with a number of my friends, went out for a picnic. I had persuaded them two days earlier and all the necessary arrangements had been made a day earlier.

On the fixed day, two of my friends, Sushil and Anil left very early in the morning for the canal. They took with them a number of mats, a stove, a kerosene can, some wheat flour, a pastry board, a pastry roller, a big can of purified water, and a number of necessary articles which had been jointly listed by all the friends. They left for the venue on a tempo. The renowned cook, Mr. Devi Dayal, who had been engaged by us also, reached the place at the time he was asked to do. He had already cut up the vegetables and prepared the fire before we reached there.

There were a dozen friends in all. We, the remaining friends reached the place on our bikes.

On reaching the lake, we decided to boat for a while. We had already engaged a boat’s man and his boat. We had a very hilarious

Then we decided to sing and dance on the mats to the tune of the deck which Anil and Sushil had taken with them.

Meanwhile, Devi Dayal had prepared hot puns with a fresh mixed vegetable dish. Thereafter we took sweet pudding.

Then we had a session of tidbits and quizzes and other cultural items. We enjoyed ourselves a lot for a few hours and then returned home. We were full of enthusiasm, joy, and happiness that the moments of interaction and cooperative spirit had lent us.

Essay No. 4

What would happen if life was to be one long stretch of happiness or sadness? We would be soon bored and fed-up with the monotony of events. In other words, this means that we need change to bring beauty and joy in our life. In that case what better way to bring change in our lives than to go on a picnic.

The picnic is a wonderful change. Everything is new. The place is new and so are the people. The sights are new and so are the sounds and smells. You are no longer confined to the four walls of your house. You are a free bird. You are no longer in the same company of your family; instead, your companions are your friends

When out on a picnic, you enjoy your food because it tastes very good. This is so not because of any special ingredient or vegetable. It is so because you and your companions have together cooked the food. Although in normal circumstances you may not like to eat such a food. But you enjoy it in the open environment of an open-air picnic. Such is the magic of the picnic that simple food takes on the divine form.

The picnic also transforms us. It takes away our mundane roles and gives us new parts to play. Some of us may become poets, others jesters. Still, some others may take on the role of a cook or a water carrier. We invent new games and newer mischief. Old people become children and vice-versa. Each player has his own importance. No one minds if either of us is not perfect in our roles. Every slip-up is brushed aside with a great deal of laughter and tolerance. Change of roles gives much-needed rest and peace to a person. It brings back the harmony between individuals. It also gives each of us a chance to be at our creative best.

Picnic satisfies the urge for change in all of us. It also gives all of us much-needed rest.

“I suppose I would still prefer to sit under a tree with a picnic basket rather than under a gas pump, but signs and comic strips are interesting as a subject matter. (Roy)

No picnic cycle of life is taking its course and making our lives dull and drab. Picnic is an outing occasion that helps us to get rid of the monotonous life. People all over the world spend a lot of money to have a break from their mundane life. They enjoy themselves by going to different resorts. The time they spend away from their home and offices make them relaxed and refreshed. They come back to their homes and workplace after the pleasure trip with greater energy and vigour. David Deices says that breaks in routine are blessed ones.

The other weekend I suggested to my friends to go somewhere for outing. We discussed and decided to go to a farmhouse at Head Balloki. It is some forty kilometers away from Lahore. According to the schedule we were supposed to depart from the college campus at 9:00 a.m. We had our breakfast and then our bus left for the destination. Our journey started with a prayer and then began the nonstop fun. We were told that the sound system of the bus was out of order. It was a great disappointment for us, but soon we realized that it was a blessing in disguise. We decided to enjoy ourselves by singing songs. One of us was a very good singer and he amused us with his melodious voice. After an hour we reached our destination. We had heard about the beauty and the place, but we were convinced that seeing is believing.

“Heard melodies are sweet, but those unheard and sweater.” (John Keats)

The pure and cool breeze over there gave us a soothing welcome and we feasted our eyes on the scenic beauty. We sat there for some time and enjoyed the beautiful place. The lake was the first one to attract the visitor. The boats in the lake invited us to have pleasure in the water. We enjoyed good rowing there. We splashed one another with water and soon all our closes were wet. It was great fun and excitement for us all.

We caught sight of the tubewell. Although it was a bit cold, one of us jumped into the pond and we followed the suit. A few of us stayed away from the cold water, but we pushed them also into the pond. We enjoyed ourselves for some time there and then we felt hungry.

We had ordered fresh fish which was the special food of that place. We had a hearty meal which we would remember for a long time. Then we had cold drinks and ate fruit. We also went for pig prey. We chased some pigs but we could not kill them because we had no guns or anything to kill them with. We, however, captured these thrilling moments in our video cameras. It was about 5 p.m. and the sun was descending. We decided to leave for Lahore. The journey back to Lahore was a memorable one. We enjoyed the travel and at seven, we reached Lahore and got back to our homes after a very beautiful trip.

The sum up, I must say that the excursions and outings play a very important role in the overall development of our personality. These excursions give us a chance to enjoy some moments away from our hectic routine of life. These outings make us prepare to face the challenges of life in a better way. These excursions and outings help us to understand our fellow beings. They also educate us informally. Someone has rightly said,

“When I go to travel, I go to school.” (Anonymous)

GCSE results 2024: English and maths pass rate down

Students opening their GCSE results

GCSE results have been released today across England, revealing that the percentage of students achieving pass grades in English and maths has fallen compared with last year - and that the gap between top grades achieved in private and state schools has increased.

The results are broadly similar to those of 2023 overall, with similar proportions of both top grades and students achieving a grade 4 or better.

However, there was a marked drop in the pass rate for English language GCSEs, which has mostly been driven by results for candidates aged 17 or over who were resitting the qualification.

Around four in five students aged 17 who took English language failed to achieve a grade 4 or better this year. (You can find our in-depth subject-by-subject breakdown here .)

Speaking in a Joint Council for Qualifications (JCQ) briefing this morning, Claire Thomson, AQA’s director of regulation and compliance, said the drop in pass rates was “largely around the 17-year-olds and over who are skewing the distributions. If you look at just the 16-year-olds, they are very stable with minimal movement over the years.

“The 17-and-over cohort has grown and come back over pre-pandemic levels, which is altering the results.”

GCSE results 2024: English and maths pass rate down

Ofqual told examiners to proceed with “back to normal” grading standards this year after the two-step process to return to pre-pandemic grading was completed last year.

For 2024, examiners were asked to ensure the standard of work was comparable to 2023.

The 2023 GCSE results had seen a fall in the proportion of top grades awarded from 2022, bringing grade distribution more in line with 2019 levels. The proportion of top grades remained slightly above 2019 levels.

This year, examiners were asked by Ofqual to “bear in mind any residual impact of disruption on performance”.

Below are the key takeaways from this year’s GCSE results:

  • GCSE grade spread similar to 2023
  • English language resit passes down
  • Private and state top grades gap increases
  • Regions gap remains stable
  • Gender gap narrows slightly
  • Results in Wales and Northern Ireland

1. Grade spread similar to last year

Overall this year, 67.4 per cent of entries were awarded a grade 4/C or above. This is only slightly lower than last year, when 67.8 per cent of entries received a grade 4 or above.

In 2019, before the Covid-19 pandemic, 67 per cent received a grade 4 or above.

For the higher grades, the overall proportion of entries achieving a grade 7/A or higher was 21.7 per cent. This is very similar to 2023, when it was 21.6 per cent.

And finally, in 2024, a very slightly higher proportion of entries managed to achieve grade 9 (5 per cent). In 2023 and 2019, 4.9 per cent and 4.5 per cent of overall entries got a grade 9 respectively.

2. English language resit passes down

Pass rates for English and maths GCSEs were down on last year. However, this was in part because of a marked drop in the number of students aged 17 or over who did achieve a grade 4 in English language.

Overall in English language, 61.6 per cent achieved a grade 4/C or higher, compared with 64.2 per cent in 2023 and 61.8 per cent in 2019.

The pass rate in English language for candidates who were 17 or older was 20.9 per cent this year in England - down from 25.9 per cent last year.

The results only for 16-year-old candidates saw 71.2 per cent of entries awarded grade 4 or above - very slightly down from 71.6 per cent last year.

The percentage of students achieving the grade they need to pass in maths (4) has fallen this year to 59.6 per cent. Last year, 61 per cent of students achieved grade 4 in maths.

The results for 16-year-old entries show that 72 per cent of students achieved grade 4 in maths this year, slightly down from 72.3 per cent last year.

For entries among students who are aged 17 or over, 17.4 per cent of entries achieved grade 4 or above - up from 16.4 per cent last year.

Overall, 40.4 per cent of entries failed to achieve grade 4 in maths, and 38.4 per cent in English language.

In English literature, 73.7 per cent of entries received a grade 4 or above, very slightly down from 73.9 per cent last year. However, this was still slightly above the last set of pre-pandemic results, as 73.4 per cent passed in 2019.

Last summer’s GCSE results saw an increase in the number of students failing to achieve a pass mark for English and maths, and therefore an increase in those having to resit in November.

However, less than a quarter of the students who took GCSE maths in November 2023 passed - meaning the majority failed their resits .

Leaders across the sector have called for reform to the GCSE resit system, as many students currently never pass. Earlier this week, Professor Alan Smithers, director of the Centre for Education and Employment Research at the University of Buckingham, said that the current system is “soul-destroying” , and called on the government to make a change.

Paul Whiteman, general secretary of the NAHT school leaders’ union, said that the current GCSE resit policy for English and maths “must be scrapped”.   “Those students who haven’t achieved the required grade are forced into repeated resits that are demotivating and can lead to disengagement with their learning,” he said.

Instead, Mr Whiteman said alternative qualifications in maths and English would be a more positive way for some students to demonstrate their achievements.

3. Private and state top grades gap increases

This year has also seen the gap between entries from academies and independent schools grow for achieving the top grades. Nearly half of entries from private schools achieved a grade 7/A or above (48.4 per cent), compared with 21.2 per cent of academies - a 27.2 percentage point gap.

Last year, there was a 26.5 percentage point gap between the proportion of entries from academies (21 per cent) and entries from independent schools (47.5 per cent) being awarded a grade 7 or above.

At secondary comprehensives, 19.4 per cent of entries achieved the top grades.

Statistics for independent schools also include city training colleges.

GCSE results 2024: English and maths pass rate down

There was a slightly larger gap in 2023 between secondary comprehensive entries hitting the top grades (19.3 per cent) and independent schools of 28.2 percentage points.

However, the gap between school types was slightly lower in 2024 than in 2019, when there was a 27.5 percentage point between academies and independent schools and a 29.3 percentage point gap between comprehensive and private schools.

Schools minister Catherine McKinnell congratulated students and teachers on their achievements today but added: “While this is a moment to celebrate, I am deeply concerned about the inequalities in our education system with where you live and what type of school you attend still being too big an influence on your opportunities.”

4. Regions gap remains stable

The attainment gap between the North and South of England has also remained very similar to last year in terms of top grades.

The proportion of entries achieving a grade 7/A or above was lowest in the North East at 17.8 per cent. This is compared with London, where 28.5 per cent of entries made the grade 7/A.

GCSE results 2024: English and maths pass rate down

Last year, the North East also saw the lowest proportion of top grades, with 17.6 per cent achieving a grade 7 or above. London remained the highest, with 28.4 per cent of entries being awarded those top grades.

That 10.8 percentage point gap was up from 9.3 percentage points in 2019. It has remained constant this year at 10.7 percentage points.

Senior leaders said earlier this year they were concerned about Year 11 exam readiness as absence remained high this spring term.

Absence has been particularly high among the most disadvantaged students. There is a higher proportion of disadvantaged students in the North.

Last week, education secretary Bridget Phillipson pledged to turn around “baked-in” educational inequalities and accused the previous government of leaving a legacy of regional “disparities” in exam outcomes and an attainment gap between private school students and their peers in state schools.

Pepe Di’Iasio, general secretary of the Association of School and College Leaders, said that the results show “significant differences” in regional outcomes for GCSEs in England.

“This suggests that relative levels of prosperity and socioeconomic disadvantage continue to play a huge part in educational outcomes,” he said. “Addressing these gaps must be a key priority for the new government working alongside the education sector.”

He added that “funding and teacher shortages, combined with post-pandemic issues around mental health, behaviour and attendance, have made circumstances particularly challenging”.

5. Gender gap narrows slightly

For 2024, the gender gap very slightly narrowed with 70.8 per cent of entries from girls achieving a grade 4/C or above compared with 64.1 per cent of boys - a 6.7 percentage point gap.

Last year, 71.3 per cent of all entries from girls achieved a grade 4 or above, compared with 64.4 per cent of entries from boys - a gap of 6.9 percentage points.

This 6.9 percentage point gap was narrower than in 2019, when 71.4 per cent of girls achieved a grade 4 or above compared with 62.7 per cent of boys.

Entries from girls were also more likely to receive top grades, with 24.4 per cent being awarded a grade 7/A, compared with 18.9 per cent of boys this year.

This was a slight narrowing of the gap from last year, when there was a 5.8 percentage point gap between girls and boys getting the top GCSE grades.

Girls continue to get more grade 9s than boys at 5.8 per cent of entries compared with 4.2 per cent.

GCSEs 2024 gender grades results

The Education Policy Institute (EPI) highlighted recently that the gender gap that has seen girls generally attain higher for many years has been narrowing since the pandemic.

Up to 2023, this narrowing has not only been driven by some increases in attainment for boys at key stage 4, but also some falls in attainment for girls.

6. Wales and Northern Ireland: slight rise in top grades

In Northern Ireland, 31 per cent of GCSE students achieved a grade A/7 or above in 2024, compared with 30.5 per cent in 2019. Meanwhile, 82.7 per cent of exam entries received a grade C/4 or above, similar to the 82.2 per cent of entries in 2019.

In Wales, 19.2 per cent of students achieved an A/7 or above, compared with 18.4 per cent in 2019. This year, 62.2 per cent of exam entries received a C/4 or above - only slightly lower than the 62.8 per cent of entries that achieved this in 2019.

As a Teenager in Europe, I Went to Nudist Beaches All the Time. 30 Years Later, Would the Experience Be the Same?

Image may contain Princess Antonia of Luxembourg Sandro Botticelli Art Painting Adult Person and Wedding

In July 2017, I wrote an article about toplessness for Vogue Italia. The director, actor, and political activist Lina Esco had emerged from the world of show business to question public nudity laws in the United States with 2014’s Free the Nipple . Her film took on a life of its own and, thanks to the endorsement from the likes of Miley Cyrus, Cara Delevingne, and Willow Smith, eventually developed into a whole political movement, particularly on social media where the hashtag #FreeTheNipple spread at lightning speed. The same year as that piece, actor Alyssa Milano tweeted “me too” and encouraged others who had been sexually assaulted to do the same, building on the movement activist Tarana Burke had created more than a decade earlier. The rest is history.

In that Vogue article, I chatted with designer Alessandro Michele about a shared memory of our favorite topless beaches of our youth. Anywhere in Italy where water appeared—be it the hard-partying Riviera Romagnola, the traditionally chic Amalfi coast and Sorrento peninsula, the vertiginous cliffs and inlets of Italy’s continuation of the French Côte d’Azur or the towering volcanic rocks of Sicily’s mythological Riviera dei Ciclopi—one was bound to find bodies of all shapes and forms, naturally topless.

In the ’90s, growing up in Italy, naked breasts were everywhere and nobody thought anything about it. “When we look at our childhood photos we recognize those imperfect breasts and those bodies, each with their own story. I think of the ‘un-beauty’ of that time and feel it is actually the ultimate beauty,” Michele told me.

Indeed, I felt the same way. My relationship with toplessness was part of a very democratic cultural status quo. If every woman on the beaches of the Mediterranean—from the sexy girls tanning on the shoreline to the grandmothers eating spaghetti al pomodoro out of Tupperware containers under sun umbrellas—bore equally naked body parts, then somehow we were all on the same team. No hierarchies were established. In general, there was very little naked breast censorship. Free nipples appeared on magazine covers at newsstands, whether tabloids or art and fashion magazines. Breasts were so naturally part of the national conversation and aesthetic that Ilona Staller (also known as Cicciolina) and Moana Pozzi, two porn stars, cofounded a political party called the Love Party. I have a clear memory of my neighbor hanging their party’s banner out his window, featuring a topless Cicciolina winking.

A lot has changed since those days, but also since that initial 2017 piece. There’s been a feminist revolution, a transformation of women’s fashion and gender politics, the absurd overturning of Harvey Weinstein’s 2020 rape conviction in New York, the intensely disturbing overturning of Roe v Wade and the current political battle over reproductive rights radiating from America and far beyond. One way or another, the female body is very much the site of political battles as much as it is of style and fashion tastes. And maybe for this reason naked breasts seem to populate runways and street style a lot more than they do beaches—it’s likely that being naked at a dinner party leaves more of a permanent mark than being naked on a glamorous shore. Naked “dressing” seems to be much more popular than naked “being.” It’s no coincidence that this year Saint Laurent, Chloé, Ferragamo, Tom Ford, Gucci, Ludovic de Saint Sernin, and Valentino all paid homage to sheer dressing in their collections, with lacy dresses, see-through tops, sheer silk hosiery fabric, and close-fitting silk dresses. The majority of Anthony Vaccarello’s fall 2024 collection was mostly transparent. And even off the runway, guests at the Saint Laurent show matched the mood. Olivia Wilde appeared in a stunning see-through dark bodysuit, Georgia May Jagger wore a sheer black halter top, Ebony Riley wore a breathtaking V-neck, and Elsa Hosk went for translucent polka dots.

In some strange way, it feels as if the trends of the ’90s have swapped seats with those of today. When, in 1993, a 19-year-old Kate Moss wore her (now iconic) transparent, bronze-hued Liza Bruce lamé slip dress to Elite Model Agency’s Look of the Year Awards in London, I remember seeing her picture everywhere and feeling in awe of her daring and grace. I loved her simple sexy style, with her otherworldly smile, the hair tied back in a bun. That very slip has remained in the collective unconscious for decades, populating thousands of internet pages, but in remembering that night Moss admitted that the nude look was totally unintentional: “I had no idea why everyone was so excited—in the darkness of Corinne [Day’s] Soho flat, the dress was not see-through!” That’s to say that nude dressing was usually mostly casual and not intellectualized in the context of a larger movement.

Justin Bieber Chose Hailey’s First Manicure as a Mom

But today nudity feels loaded in different ways. In April, actor and author Julia Fox appeared in Los Angeles in a flesh-colored bra that featured hairy hyper-realist prints of breasts and nipples, and matching panties with a print of a sewn-up vagina and the words “closed” on it, as a form of feminist performance art. Breasts , an exhibition curated by Carolina Pasti, recently opened as part of the 60th Venice Biennale at Palazzo Franchetti and showcases works that span from painting and sculpture to photography and film, reflecting on themes of motherhood, empowerment, sexuality, body image, and illness. The show features work by Cindy Sherman, Robert Mapplethorpe, Louise Bourgeois, and an incredible painting by Bernardino Del Signoraccio of Madonna dell’Umiltà, circa 1460-1540. “It was fundamental for me to include a Madonna Lactans from a historical perspective. In this intimate representation, the Virgin reveals one breast while nurturing the child, the organic gesture emphasizing the profound bond between mother and child,” Pasti said when we spoke.

Through her portrayal of breasts, she delves into the delicate balance of strength and vulnerability within the female form. I spoke to Pasti about my recent musings on naked breasts, which she shared in a deep way. I asked her whether she too noticed a disparity between nudity on beaches as opposed to the one on streets and runways, and she agreed. Her main concern today is around censorship. To Pasti, social media is still far too rigid around breast exposure and she plans to discuss this issue through a podcast that she will be launching in September, together with other topics such as motherhood, breastfeeding, sexuality, and breast cancer awareness.

With summer at the door, it was my turn to see just how much of the new reread on transparency would apply to beach life. In the last few years, I noticed those beaches Michele and I reminisced about have grown more conservative and, despite being the daughter of unrepentant nudists and having a long track record of militant topless bathing, I myself have felt a bit more shy lately. Perhaps a woman in her 40s with two children is simply less prone to taking her top off, but my memories of youth are populated by visions of bare-chested mothers surveilling the coasts and shouting after their kids in the water. So when did we stop? And why? When did Michele’s era of “un-beauty” end?

In order to get back in touch with my own naked breasts I decided to revisit the nudist beaches of my youth to see what had changed. On a warm day in May, I researched some local topless beaches around Rome and asked a friend to come with me. Two moms, plus our four children, two girls and two boys of the same ages. “Let’s make an experiment of this and see what happens,” I proposed.

The kids all yawned, but my friend was up for it. These days to go topless, especially on urban beaches, you must visit properties that have an unspoken nudist tradition. One of these in Rome is the natural reserve beach at Capocotta, south of Ostia, but I felt a bit unsure revisiting those sands. In my memory, the Roman nudist beaches often equated to encounters with promiscuous strangers behind the dunes. I didn’t want to expose the kids, so, being that I am now a wise adult, I went ahead and picked a compromise. I found a nude-friendly beach on the banks of the Farfa River, in the rolling Sabina hills.

We piled into my friend’s car and drove out. The kids were all whining about the experiment. “We don’t want to see naked mums!” they complained. “Can’t you just lie and say you went to a nudist beach?”

We parked the car and walked across the medieval fairy-tale woods until we reached the path that ran along the river. All around us were huge trees and gigantic leaves. It had rained a lot recently and the vegetation had grown incredibly. We walked past the remains of a Roman road. The colors all around were bright green, the sky almost fluorescent blue. The kids got sidetracked by the presence of frogs. According to the indications, the beach was about a mile up the river. Halfway down the path, we bumped into a couple of young guys in fanny packs. I scanned them for signs of quintessential nudist attitude, but realized I actually had no idea what that was. I asked if we were headed in the right direction to go to “the beach”. They nodded and gave us a sly smile, which I immediately interpreted as a judgment about us as mothers, and more generally about our age, but I was ready to vindicate bare breasts against ageism.

We reached a small pebbled beach, secluded and bordered by a huge trunk that separated it from the path. A group of girls was there, sharing headphones and listening to music. To my dismay they were all wearing the tops and bottoms of their bikinis. One of them was in a full-piece bathing suit and shorts. “See, they are all wearing bathing suits. Please don’t be the weird mums who don’t.”

At this point, it was a matter of principle. My friend and I decided to take our bathing suits off completely, if only for a moment, and jumped into the river. The boys stayed on the beach with full clothes and shoes on, horrified. The girls went in behind us with their bathing suits. “Are you happy now? my son asked. “Did you prove your point?”

I didn’t really know what my point actually was. I think a part of me wanted to feel entitled to those long-gone decades of naturalism. Whether this was an instinct, or as Pasti said, “an act that was simply tied to the individual freedom of each woman”, it was hard to tell. At this point in history, the two things didn’t seem to cancel each other out—in fact, the opposite. Taking off a bathing suit, at least for my generation who never had to fight for it, had unexpectedly turned into a radical move and maybe I wanted to be part of the new discourse. Also, the chances of me going out in a fully sheer top were slim these days, but on the beach it was different. I would always fight for an authentic topless experience.

After our picnic on the river, we left determined to make our way—and without children—to the beaches of Capocotta. In truth, no part of me actually felt very subversive doing something I had been doing my whole life, but it still felt good. Once a free breast, always a free breast.
