The fascinating lives of others are lived again

If you want to learn more about a famous person or just get into the detail of someone else’s life, then you can download a memoir or biography book (and autobiography books) from obooko.

Autobiography books give us the real account of what actually happened as the author is also the main character. We get a true window into someone else’s world. Take a look at Life in the Shadows of a Corporate Lawyer to get the story of the struggles of a lawyer with alcohol problems at time when getting corporate counsel positions was very difficult unless you were part of the old boy’s network.

Sometimes a biography will give us a perspective of a world changing event from someone who was there. Singing Magic tells the story of a Canadian girl who moved to South Africa during the ending of apartheid and brings us a fresh view of what real, normal people were going through at this time of change. We gain insight to what things were really like, unedited by news media.

There is no better way to satisfy your curiosity about other people than reading a book about them. Learn how they think and what drives them to do the things they do and use that knowledge to influence your own life – in some cases memoir books can be like having your own mentor, laying out the values to follow. In other cases, it might be a lesson in what not to do.

There are many biography books at obooko and this just gives a flavour of the diverse range of online story books that are available. Some will inspire you to want to do great things, others will make you sad and want to cry. Maybe some will make you angry enough to shout. What is certain is that you will get something to keep you wanting to turn the page and read more. Download these memoir and biography books from obooko today.

All titles in this category are legally licensed for free download in PDF ePub, & Kindle Formats.

Adamson, lynda g., greenwood 1998        dewey dec.    016.

“The entries are arranged alphabetically by last name with appropriate cross-references for alternative designations. Each contains the woman’s name, key dates, occupation or avocation, and birthplace. A short biographical sketch about parents, education, general achievement, and recognition or awards follows. Women of all time periods are included. . . . Because it includes only those born outside the U.S., it complements sources on American women. Notable Women in World History is a useful addition to academic, public, and high-school libraries. It would be especially useful for women’s studies collections.” -Booklist. Autobiography By Benjamin Franklin

by Benjamin Franklin.

Few men could compare to Benjamin Franklin. Virtually self-taught, he excelled as an athlete, a man of letters, a printer, a scientist, a wit, an inventor, an editor, and a writer, and he was probably the most successful diplomat in American history. David Hume hailed him as the first great philosopher and great man of letters in the New World. Written initially to guide his son, Franklin's autobiography is a lively, spellbinding account of his unique and eventful life. Stylistically his best work, it has become a classic in world literature, one to inspire and delight readers everywhere.

It all centers on the correspondence between Varvara and Makar, distant relatives from the city of St. Petersburg. There they relate their personal lives, work matters, and also their views about the society in which they are immersed.

Both are poor and this makes them empathize with each other. Varvara is a young girl living with her father and stepmother, and Makar is a government official. Despite their growing affection for each other, it seems that life has no plans to bring them together.

8) A Tale of Two Cities by Charles Dickens

A Tale of Two Cities by Charles Dickens

A Tale of Two Cities is the 12th book by Charles Dickens, published in 1859 when he was already an outstanding and mature author. For many critics, the beginning of this novel is the best in the history of literature.

Although it was written long after the French Revolution, it is set at that time. These were turbulent years for France, whose people were suffering the horrors of injustice and abuse by the monarchies, and who would henceforth continue to go through the chaos typical of social transformations.

The two cities portrayed in this book are Paris and London. Both were immersed in very different realities that even contrasted, since in the former there reigned an atmosphere of weariness and rebellion, extreme poverty and violence everywhere; in the latter, on the other hand, there was economic and social stability that made peace flourish.

In its last century, the system was shaken by working-class revolts that became stronger and more relevant. Finally, the constant conflicts shook the Iron Heel.

Since then, society was subjected to changes such as infertility, artificial reproduction, indoctrination from birth, caste division, the elimination of the family, the annulment of emotions, and sexual debauchery. Bio-inspired bimetallic models for electrochemical co2 reduction.

Inspired by the carbon monoxide dehydrogenase (CODH) active site where two metal ions synergistically catalyze the interconversion between CO2 and CO, we have developed a family of rhenium dipyridine derivatives (1-3), in which potassium 1-aza-18-crown-6-ether (KN18C6) moiety functioning as a Lewis acid to assist the CO2 reduction reaction (CO2RR). We found that such design leads to dramatically strong deposition on the electrode under CO2 in the presence of potassium cation, and a clear trend for the depositon rate was observed following the flexibility of linkage between the framework and the KN18C6 moiety, the more flexible the faster. The origin of deposition was further characterized by a series of control experiment and infrared spectroelectrochemistry (IR-SEC). Unfortunately, the deposition suppresses the following C-O bond cleavage reaction
