Essay on A Journey by Aeroplane

I have two uncles living abroad. One is in England and the other in the USA. They have been writing constantly to my father to send me there during my summer vacation. This year my uncle, who is in England, invited me I persuaded my father to allow me to visit him.

He agreed after great persuasion. Dates and programs in connection with my departure were worked out. It was decided that I should travel by a British Airways plane. I applied for the passport and completed other formalities.

After getting my passport, the visa was obtained from the British Embassy. I was asked to report an hour before the departure of the plane at the airline counter. I, along with my parents, who came to see me off, reached Indira Gandhi International Airport and reported at the counter of British Airways.

The usual formality was gone through. They took away my suitcase and bag after thorough examination for putting into the luggage room of the plane and allowed me to have the briefcase with me.

I boarded the plane. The air hostess checked my ticket and led me to the seat marked in the chart. When all the passengers had boarded and the time for departure came, the doors were closed by the crew.

Before the takeoff, an announcement was made that the passengers should fasten belts. The crew also distributed earplugs for our ears. I had a little difficulty with the seat belt, but an air hostess came to my help.

The plane took off smoothly and I was airborne. Soon the air hostess approached every passenger and asked politely if anyone of us needed anything to eat. I took coffee and a cake piece.

The plane was flying at a very fast speed. After a few hours, we passed over the Suez Canal and then over Cairo. As the flight was scheduled to be a non-stop, we did not land in Cairo.

But after an hour or so, a message was flashed on the screen to fasten your seatbelts as we were landing at Rome airport. After a brief halt, the plane again took off for London. Now, it was daylight.

I saw through windowpane of the plane ships looking like toys. We passed over Paris. Soon our plane touched down at Heathrow Airport. This was my destination and the end of the journey.

My uncle was at the airport to receive me, but I had to go through customs formalities before I could join him It was the most exciting experience of my life

An Essay on a Journey by Air [PDF]

We all love to travel either by bus or by train, all have their own adventure, but the journey by air is a little more exciting in my opinion, and that is our today’s essay topic. So let’s dive in!

journey by air feature image

Traveling by Air is so exciting and enjoyable. You have to go by checking. A person stands in a uniform and performs checking by a metal detector. Your luggage is kept in a machine to check inside the bag from the computer. Then, you can take your luggage and head off to Airplane standing outside.

I live in Bangalore and it was winter. My family planned to go to Mumbai in my winter vacations after my half-yearly exams. The New year was near the calendar and it was a good time to book tickets for going on a journey by Air.

The next day we packed our luggage and I kept my storybooks and comics to read on my way. My father booked a cab for us and then it came and we kept our luggage inside and sat inside the cab.

We reached the airport and took out our luggage outside the port. We headed inside the airport. I was too excited about my first flight and when I got inside the airport it was well maintained and properly constructed.

The floors were cleaned and a sweeper was wiping the floor. Everyone in the staff was wearing a uniform. A person greeted us when I entered with my family inside the airport. We took the seat and waited for the announcement to come when our flight name would be called.

I sat on the seat and looked around. There was a bookstall with many storybooks for children of my age. There were many novels and stationary was kept. In the stationary, I saw watercolor packs, art books on the A4 sheet page.

Then, I moved forward and saw a canteen with the menu having a different kind of cuisines listed on it. The food was costly and on the side, there was a rack of water bottles. There were small dining chairs kept on side of the stall for the people to sit and eat. I saw many people standing in line waiting to take give their orders and in another line, people were waiting to have their food.

At the airport, I saw a plane outside of a large window. The passengers were getting inside tall stairs in a line and three people from staff were giving them instructions.

On the bottom side of the plane, I saw a hole opened in which luggage was being kept. It was so. Small. I became very happy and started thinking about What will I do once I will get into the plane.

My mother came and was standing behind me watching my excitement and eagerness to watch new things. She was holding my hand and picked me up on her lap so that I can best view of it.

Then, after five minutes, a lady gave the announcement of arriving the flight minutes before and we had to get ready and pick our luggage to head-off. As we were moving to the checking area, I saw two sections divided by men and women.

On the left side, my father was in the line of men and on the right side, I was with my mother in the women section. They were checking us with a machine detector and our luggage passed by the checking counter.

We were moving forward in the line from both sides. We passed by a small lane or gallery to go on a plane where it was standing. It was white with a huge body. it looked so taller than me. But small from outside.

I was thinking how too many persons could fit inside it? We continued walking and I climbed up the stairs and gotten inside. Inside the plane, it was so big with people sitting on both sides with three seats attached.

We took our seats and other passengers too. The flight took off the airport. It was a three-hour flight. We were served with food and water. The air hostess was kind and soft-spoken.

They were speaking so nicely. Then, I had slept and we reached the airport named Chattrapati Shivaji Terminus. I, with my family, took off our seats and climb down the plane. Then, we were moving by line, my father took the luggage and booked the cab, then we reached the hotel safely.

So how was this essay on Journey by Air? I hope you like it. Do share your thoughts in the comment section, and also share this on your favorite social media platform. Till then stay happy live free.

Introduction: A journey by air is pleasant and comfortable. From my childhood, I had an ardent desire for a journey by air. So, after I had passed my SSC Examination, my father agreed to take me to Dhaka by air with him. I was beside myself in joy to have the opportunity.

Preparation of the Journey: It was the month of July. It was decided that we would go to Dhaka by plane on the 27th of July. Accordingly, father booked two seats and collected air tickets for us.

Description of My Air Journey: On the appointed day, we went to M. A. Hannan International Airport, Chittagong, at 7 AM. The plane was scheduled for 8 AM. Within a few minutes, a plane arrived at the airport and passengers began to come out. We were informed that the same plane would fly for Dhaka with us. The passengers were asked to board on the plane. We got on the plane and fastened our seat belts. The plane took off with us at 8 AM sharp. The plane gained height gradually. Fortunately, my seat was beside the window. I looked out of the window and could see the clouds beside my plane. The houses, mosques, trees, hills, buildings, and cattle below seemed to me like toys. A smart air hostess offered us chocolates, snacks, tasty fruits, and drinks. Then it was declared that our plane was going to land and we were asked to fasten our seat belts. After about half an hour our plane landed at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport, Dhaka. The passengers got down one after another. After checking our luggage we came out of the airport. Then we hired a taxi and went to Hotel Sheraton.

Conclusion: A trip by air is indeed very interesting. Though it is costly, it saves our time. I enjoyed the journey very much. It will always remain fresh in my memory.

My First Plane Journey

Introduction: Cowper says, ‘variety is the spice of life.’ A plane journey is one of the most enjoyable varieties in life. I have been deeply moved on three occasions in my life. My first sight of the sea was another occasion which moved me very deeply. But my first flight in the air was the most exciting experience in my life. I took A Journey By Air.

Preparation: I had a prolonged desire for traveling by plane. My desire, at last, came into reality during the last summer vacation. Father had to go to (Placename) for an urgent piece of business. He decided to go there by plane. I availed myself of the opportunity. We reached Dhaka by bus and bought two tickets by the window.

Enjoyments and experience: the time of leaving the plane turned up. I entered the airplane in the morning. At first, it was no better than getting into a car or bus. The caption announced that he would be soon starting. We got on the plane with the other passengers. We were asked to fasten the seat belts. The noise of the machine made me feel that it was different. Soon the plane took off and rose in the air higher and higher. The buzzing sound which had fascinated me from the ground now belonged to me. The things below looked so tiny. The plane raced down the runway slowly and then took off smoothly with a jerk.

As we rose higher, the plane bumped a little as the weather was a little rough.  I saw clouds floating in the sky. Houses and trees below looked like tiny toys. At this, I felt a little bit nervous. But I got it over after a short while and looked down from my window. The buildings, the people, and the trees below looked like tiny toys. The roads look like thin lines drawn on a sheet of paper and so did the rivers. The boats and motor cars seemed like moving dolls. I saw the soft white clouds floating by. They looked like huge cotton balls. There were clouds and clouds all around us. I felt like touching them. But they were flying! Then I felt like saying after the poet,

“I gazed and gazed but little thought; what wealth the show to me had brought.”

Conclusion: thus I enjoyed the flight very much. The memory of the flight shall remain ever fresh in my mind. It was a very interesting and exciting one indeed. Even today I bear the flight in my memory.

A Journey By Air

A Flight By An Aeroplance

Essay No. 01

In September last, my father went to Delhi from Allahabad by a plane. He had to attend the meetings of the parliament. I requested him to take me with him. He agreed. I was very much pleased.

My father is an M.P. He went in a car from Allahabad to the aerodrome in the morning. Our seats had already been reserved. I was much pleased to see the aerodrome. I saw a number of aeroplanes there. One aeroplane just came to the ground. People got down from it. Some were being cleaned and repaired. Our plane was ready for the flight.

Our luggage was put in the plane. We entered it. I wondered to see the plane. I had seen a plane from a distance. I never thought that it was so big. The plane was standing on wheels. It had two large wings. There were cushioned seats inside. There were windows and also holes at the floor to see through. We took our seats.

Just at 8 o’clock, the pilot started the engine. The plane began to move on the ground. It left the ground. It rose higher and higher. I was filled with joy as well as fear.

I looked down through the holes. I saw towns, villages, trees, and fields passing below. The houses and trees looked very small. The men and animals looked like small dots. I was given a small spyglass to see through it. Now I could see everything clearly. The wind was roaring and our plane was flying at the rate of 400 kilometers an hour. It was pleasant to fly over towns. And cities like the birds. Though it was hot on the land, but it was cool in the plane.

I asked my father some questions about the plane. My father gave short answers. But one of the passengers knew all about machines. He saw my curiosity. He explained everything in detail. I was pleased to know so many new things about eh plane.

I saw the big city of Kanpur. I caught sight of the clouds of smoke rising from chimneys. But we could see only the tops. We then passed over the towers of the Taj Mahal and the fort of Agra. Our plane did not stop at any place like the train. Very soon large buildings came into my sight. I asked my father what that city was I was surprised to know that it was Delhi. I had never expected to reach Delhi so soon. In a few minutes, our plane began to take round and round. Very soon it came down on the ground. We reached Delhi in two hours.

I got down. I saw Indira Gandhi airport. It was very big. I was very happy at the end of my flight.

Essay No. 02

A Journey by Air

As a reward for our hard work and good result in the annual examination, my father decided to take us on a vacation by air. It was to be the first time that I would be traveling by air. I was very excited about it.

Our flight was at 12 noon. We drove to the airport in a taxi. There were many people outside the airport. They had come to receive or see off their relatives. People were loading their luggage on the trolleys. We also did the same and pushed the trolley inside the departure lounge. Here our tickets were checked at the counter. We were issued the boarding passes. Our flight was announced. We then proceeded for the security and the baggage check. We were taken to the waiting aircraft in a bus. Thereafter showing our boarding card to the office at the stairs, we climbed the stairs and went into the aircraft

We were cordially received at the door of the aircraft by an air hostess. She directed us to our seats. We had got two aisle seats and two seats by the windows. We put our hand luggage in the overhead compartments. We sat down on our seats. Soon the aircraft was full. No smoking signs were switched on. The air-hostess requested us to tie our seat-belts and those who were smoking to extinguish their cigarettes.

The aircraft began taxiing on the runway. It rapidly gathered speed and within a few minutes, we were airborne. The no-smoking signs were put off. We untied our seat belts. I was soon engrossed in the clouds outside. I could also make out towns and rivers from the air. The air hostess started serving refreshments. She offered me a glass of juice. While I was sipping the juice, she came with the lunch. She opened the folded table from the seat in front of me and placed my lunch packet on it. It contained rice, chapatis, a vegetable, fresh salad, and a lentil. There was a cup of yogurt and a cup of gulab-jamuns as a sweet dish.

We all ate our lunch. The air-hostess swiftly cleared the leftovers and the soiled lunch packets. We were offered tea or coffee after it. I declined to take any and was soon lost in the world of clouds outside my window.

The other passengers who were frequent fliers were soon engrossed in their office work or in the newspapers and magazines supplied by the airline. There was all quiet inside the aircraft. I fell asleep.

I was awakened by my mother; she said that the aircraft was about to land. We tied our seat-belts. The aircraft started losing height. Within few minutes we were once again taxiing on the airstrip

In this way, my maiden flight came to an end without any mishap.

At The Airport

When we reached the airport, I saw so many planes. They were much bigger than I thought. I felt like a tiny ant. We had to wait for some time before we could get on our plane. During that time, I watched other planes take off and land. It was like a live show for me.

The Landing

After some time, the plane started to go down. The landing was smooth. I felt a little sad because the journey was over. But I was also happy because I had a great time.

My first time on a plane was an experience I will never forget. It was a mix of excitement, fear, and joy. I can’t wait to fly again.

500 Words Essay on First Time On A Plane

My first plane journey.

My first plane ride was a thrilling adventure that I will always remember. I was ten years old, and my family was going on a holiday to a faraway place. We were traveling by plane, and I was both excited and nervous. I had never been on a plane before, and I did not know what to expect.

The day before the flight, my parents packed our suitcases. I was allowed to pack my small bag with my favorite toys and books. I was so excited that I could not sleep well that night. The next morning, we left for the airport early. The airport was a busy place with lots of people moving around. There were shops, cafes, and even a play area for kids.

When our flight was announced, we went to the boarding gate. My heart started to beat faster as we walked down the long passage leading to the plane. It was a huge machine, much bigger than I had imagined. We were greeted by the flight attendants who showed us to our seats. I was lucky to get a window seat. I could see the wings of the plane and the ground below.

Take-off and the Flight

The take-off was the most exciting part. My stomach felt funny as the plane rushed down the runway and lifted off the ground. I watched as the buildings and roads became smaller until they looked like toys. Once we were high up in the sky, I could see the clouds and the blue sky. It was a beautiful sight.

During the flight, the attendants served us meals and drinks. I watched a movie on the small screen in front of me. I also read my book and played with my toys. The time passed quickly.

Landing and After

The landing was another thrilling moment. I felt the same funny feeling in my stomach when the plane touched down. Once we were on the ground, we collected our bags and left the plane. I was happy to have completed my first plane journey.

My first time on a plane was an experience filled with excitement and wonder. It was a journey that opened my eyes to the marvels of modern technology. It showed me how small the world is, and how quickly we can travel from one place to another. I look forward to many more plane rides in the future.

To sum it up, my first plane ride was an unforgettable experience. From the bustling airport to the peaceful skies, every moment was filled with new discoveries. It was a journey that I will always remember.

In conclusion, traveling by plane for the first time is a unique experience. It is a mix of excitement, fear, and wonder. It is a journey that opens up a whole new world of possibilities. It is an adventure that everyone should experience at least once in their life.

That’s it! I hope the essay helped you.

Advantages and Disadvantages of Traveling by Plane

We take air transport for granted nowadays, but what are the advantages and disadvantages of traveling by plane? In this post, we take a look.

What are the advantages and disadvantages of air transportation

Pros and Cons of Air Travel

Whether you like flying or not, when it comes to the pros and cons of flying, there are plenty of both.

On the one hand, air travel is the quickest way to get from A to B. It’s also an ideal means of transport that is relatively safe and comfortable, thanks to advances in technology.

On the other hand, flying can be expensive, stressful and detrimental to the environment.

There's no denying it is one of the most popular forms of transport for both business and pleasure, and has brought the world closer together in many ways, but nothing is perfect!

In this guide, we'll list 10 advantages that traveling by plane offers, and balance those out with 10 disadvantages. By the end, you should have a good idea of whether or not flying is the right choice for your next trip.

Air Transport Advantages:

Let's kick off in a positive way, and look at airplane advantages and the benefits of making a journey by plane.

– One of the best advantages of airplanes, is that when you need to get somewhere fast, flying is often the best option. It can get you across the country or around the world in a matter of hours. If you have a choice between flying and driving, flying will almost always get you there faster.

For example, as I write a lot about Greece, I'm often asked how to travel from one place to another. Many people who want to get from Athens to Santorini are surprised to find that to fly rather than take a ferry is quicker, and often cheaper!

– With wider seats, more legroom, and in-flight entertainment, flying can be a very comfortable experience. On international flights anyway! When you compare it to other forms of transportation like buses or trains, it’s often much more pleasant.

3. Efficiency

– One of the key advantages of air transport, is that planes are designed to get you from Point A to Point B as quickly and efficiently as possible. They can cover large distances in a relatively short amount of time. Even when you factor in the time it takes to get to and from the airport, flying is often just as quick but usually quicker as other forms of travel including high speed trains.

4. Relaxation

– For some people, flying is a chance to relax and escape the hustle and bustle of everyday life. When you're up in the air, it's easy to forget about your troubles down on the ground.

You can watch movies , listen to music , or sleep. Falling asleep on a flight is easy for many people, and there's never the concern you might miss your stop as with other modes of transport!

Long distance flights have inflight entertainment to help you relax during the journey

– I think it was Superman who said, “Statistically, it’s safer to fly than to drive.” Flying is one of the safest forms of transportation, making it one of the best advantages of planes. In 2015, there were over 35,000 commercial flights per day in the US, and only 21 accidents .

That means that your odds of being in a plane crash are about 1 in 8 million . With modern technology and safety protocols, the chances of an accident or plane crashes are very low.

6. Convenience

– One of the pros of planes, is that flying is often the most convenient option, especially when traveling long distances. It can save you time and hassle, and get you where you need to go with minimal fuss. When compared to driving or taking a train or bus, flying is often much more convenient.

7. Accessibility

– With more people flying than ever before, there are now more options for flights to unique and hard-to-reach destinations. You can fly almost anywhere in the world, and there are usually multiple flight options to choose from.

8. Networking

– Flying can be a great opportunity to network with other professionals either on long haul flights or shorter flights of just a few hours. If you're traveling for business, you'll often find yourself sitting next to someone who could be a valuable connection.

9. Adventure

– For some, flying is an adventure in and of itself. Travelling by plane is a chance to explore new places, meet new people, and experience the world in a whole new way.

Disadvantages of air travel:

Travelers who are making arrangements to travel long distances by plane might also want to keep some of the disadvantages of flights in mind:

– One of the biggest disadvantages of flying is the cost. It can be very expensive to purchase a plane ticket, especially if you're flying internationally. Sure, budget airlines might offer some cheap flights, but they often come with their own set of problems (more on that below).

2. Time Commitment

– Flying can take a lot of time, especially if you're flying to a far-flung destination. You have to factor in travel time to and from the airport, as well as time spent waiting at the airport itself.

– Even for hardened travelers, flying can be a hassle, especially if you're dealing with delays, cancellations, or lost baggage. It can be frustrating to deal with the logistics of air travel, and it's not always a smooth or easy process.

Related: Tips for stress free travel

4. Inconvenience

– Flying can be inconvenient, especially if you have to travel on short notice. It can be difficult to find a flight that fits your schedule, and you may have to deal with unforeseen delays or cancellations. You also need to make sure your plane tickets, passport, and other documents are in order. And did we mention the long lines at security?

Related: Why do flights get cancelled

5. Missed Connections

– One of the biggest headaches of flying is dealing with missed connections. If your flight is delayed or canceled, it can throw off your whole travel schedule. When buying tickets, you should leave plenty of time between connecting flights!

Related: Common Travel Mistakes

– Jet lag is a real problem for many people who fly frequently. It's a disruption of your body's natural sleep cycle, and it can be difficult to adjust to a new time zone. If your air travels involve a long journey, you're likely to experience some jet lag.

Related: How to minimize jet lag

7. Baggage Fees

– Many airlines now charge baggage fees, which can add up quickly if you're traveling with multiple bags. It's important to check the baggage policy before you travel to avoid any surprises, especially if using a budget airline.

8. Security Lines

– One of the biggest hassles of flying is dealing with security lines. They can be time-consuming and frustrating, especially if you're running late for your flight. One tip is to get to the airport early so you have plenty of time to clear security.

9. Crowded Flights

– One of the disadvantages of travelling by plane, is that flying can be cramped and uncomfortable, especially if you're on a crowded flight. It's important to book a seat in advance so you can avoid being stuck in the middle of the plane. What is the best seat on an aisle of a plane?

I prefer to sit near the window so that I can take advantage of the view during takeoff and landing, but some people prefer to sit on the aisle so they have easy access to the lavatories.

10. Environmental Impact

– Finally, it's important to consider the environmental impact of flying. Air travel is one of the biggest contributors to greenhouse gas emissions, so if you're looking to reduce your carbon footprint, flying is not the best option. If you want to be a responsible traveler , consider offsetting your emissions by planting trees or investing in renewable energy.

The bottom line is that there are both advantages and disadvantages to flying. It's important to weigh the pros and cons before you decide whether or not to take a flight. And if you do decide to fly, make sure you're prepared for the hassles that come with it!

Advantages and disadvantages of air transportation – Conclusion

Overall, the advantages of flying outweigh the disadvantages. While it can be expensive and inconvenient at times, flying is a very safe and efficient way to travel. It offers access to unique destinations around the world, and it's a great way to network with other professionals. For some people, flying is an adventure in and of itself, and it's a great way to explore new places and have new experiences.

10 Tips For Flying long distances

Now we've seen some of the advantages and disadvantages of air transport, how can you make the most of your journey by air? These tips for traveling by plane will help you get the best out of your flight:

1. Choose your seat wisely –

When booking your flight, be sure to choose a seat that is comfortable for you. If you're traveling with a partner or friend, book seats together so you can chat and pass the time more easily. If you're flying solo, consider an aisle seat so you can get up and stretch your legs when needed.

2. Bring a good book –

Flying can be a great opportunity to catch up on some reading. Be sure to bring a good book (or two!) to keep you entertained during the flight. If you get bored easily, consider bringing a Sudoku puzzle or other brainteaser to keep your mind sharp.

3. Stay hydrated –

It's important to stay hydrated when flying, as the dry air can be dehydrating. Be sure to drink plenty of water (and avoid alcohol) during your flight. If you're traveling with a reusable water bottle, fill it up before you board the plane.

4. Get up and move around –

Sitting in a cramped seat for hours can be uncomfortable, so be sure to get up and move around when possible. Take a walk up and down the aisle, do some stretches in your seat, or take a trip to the lavatory.

5. Wear comfortable clothing –

You'll be more comfortable on your flight if you dress in comfortable clothing. Avoid constricting clothing, such as jeans or tight dresses, and opt for loose-fitting clothes that won't restrict your movement. It's also a good idea to wear layers so you can adjust to the changing temperature on the plane.

6. Bring snacks –

If you get hungry during your flight, be sure to bring along some snacks. It's often more expensive to buy food on the plane, and the selection is usually limited. Pack some snacks that you enjoy and that will tide you over until you can eat a proper meal.

7. Bring a travel pillow –

If you're flying long-distance, consider bringing a travel pillow to help you sleep. A good night's sleep on the plane can make a big difference in how you feel when you land.

8. Keep your valuables close –

Be sure to keep your valuables close to you at all times while on the plane. If possible, keep them in a carry-on bag so you can have easy access to them. If you need to put them in the overhead bin, be sure to keep an eye on them throughout the flight.

9. Plan ahead –

If you're flying long-distance, it's important to plan ahead so you can avoid jet lag. Consider what time zone you'll be landing in and try to adjust your sleep schedule accordingly.

10. Sit comfortably –

If you're going to be sitting on the plane for a long time, it's important to be comfortable. You may want to consider upgrading to a premium seat with more leg room if you have the option.

F.A.A. Investigates Claims by Boeing Whistle-Blower About Flaws in 787 Dreamliner

The whistle-blower, an engineer, says that sections of the plane’s body are being assembled in a way that could weaken the aircraft over time. Boeing says there is no safety issue.

A wide frame of inside a Boeing 787 Dreamliner. An employee is seen in the background wheeling a metal cart and is wearing a reflective construction vest.

By Mark Walker and James Glanz

Mark Walker reported from Washington, and James Glanz from New York.

The Federal Aviation Administration is investigating claims made by a Boeing engineer who says that sections of the fuselage of the 787 Dreamliner are improperly fastened together and could break apart mid-flight after thousands of trips.

The engineer, Sam Salehpour, who worked on the plane, detailed his allegations in interviews with The New York Times and in documents sent to the F.A.A. A spokesman for the agency confirmed that it was investigating the allegations but declined to comment on them.

Mr. Salehpour, who has worked at Boeing for more than a decade, said the problems stemmed from changes in how the enormous sections were fitted and fastened together in the assembly line. The plane’s fuselage comes in several pieces, all from different manufacturers, and they are not exactly the same shape where they fit together, he said.

Boeing conceded those manufacturing changes were made, but a spokesman for the company, Paul Lewis, said there was “no impact on durability or safe longevity of the airframe.”

Mr. Lewis said Boeing had done extensive testing on the Dreamliner and “determined that this is not an immediate safety of flight issue.”

“Our engineers are completing complex analysis to determine if there may be a long-term fatigue concern for the fleet in any area of the airplane,” Mr. Lewis said. “This would not become an issue for the in-service fleet for many years to come, if ever, and we are not rushing the team so that we can ensure that analysis is comprehensive.”

In a subsequent statement, Boeing said it was “fully confident in the 787 Dreamliner,” adding that “these claims about the structural integrity of the 787 are inaccurate and do not represent the comprehensive work Boeing has done to ensure the quality and long-term safety of the aircraft.”

Mr. Salehpour’s allegations add another element to the intense scrutiny that Boeing has been facing since a door panel blew off a 737 Max jet during an Alaska Airlines flight in early January, raising questions about the company’s manufacturing practices . Since then, the plane maker has announced a leadership overhaul , and the Justice Department has begun a criminal investigation .

Mr. Salehpour’s concerns are set to receive an airing on Capitol Hill. Senator Richard Blumenthal, Democrat of Connecticut and the chairman of the Senate Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee’s investigations subcommittee, is planning to hold a hearing with Mr. Salehpour on April 17. Mr. Blumenthal said he wanted the public to hear from the engineer firsthand.

“Repeated, shocking allegations about Boeing’s manufacturing failings point to an appalling absence of safety culture and practices — where profit is prioritized over everything else,” Mr. Blumenthal said in a statement.

The Dreamliner is a wide-body jet that is more fuel efficient than many other aircraft used for long trips, in part because of its lightweight composite construction. First delivered in 2011, the twin-aisle plane has both racked up orders for Boeing and created headaches for the company .

For years, the plane maker has dealt with a succession of issues involving the jet, including battery problems that led to the temporary grounding of 787s around the world and quality concerns that more recently caused an extended halt in deliveries .

Boeing has also confronted a slew of problems at its plant in South Carolina where the Dreamliner is built. A prominent Boeing whistle-blower who raised concerns about manufacturing practices at the plant, John Barnett, was found dead last month with what appeared to be a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

The Dreamliner was a pioneer in using large amounts of so-called composite materials rather than traditional metal to build the plane, including major sections like the fuselage, as the aircraft’s body is known. Often made by combining materials like carbon and glass fibers, composites are lighter than metals but, as comparatively newer materials, less is known about how they hold up to the long-term stresses of flight. Those stresses create what engineers call fatigue, which can compromise safety if it causes the material to fail.

Mr. Salehpour said he was repeatedly retaliated against for raising concerns about shortcuts he believed that Boeing was taking in joining together the pieces of the Dreamliner’s fuselage.

Debra S. Katz, a lawyer for Mr. Salehpour, said that her client raised his concerns with supervisors and tried to discuss them in safety meetings, but that company officials did not listen. Instead, she said that Mr. Salehpour was silenced and transferred to work on another wide-body aircraft, the 777. Mr. Salehpour said that after his transfer, he found additional problems with how Boeing was assembling the fuselage of the 777.

“This is the culture that Boeing has allowed to exist,” Ms. Katz said. “This is a culture that prioritizes production of planes and pushes them off the line even when there are serious concerns about the structural integrity of those planes and their production process.”

In its statement, Boeing said that it encouraged its workers “to speak up when issues arise” and that retaliation was “strictly prohibited.”

The F.A.A. interviewed Mr. Salehpour on Friday, Ms. Katz said. In response to questions about the Dreamliner, Mike Whitaker, the agency’s administrator, reiterated that the regulator was taking a hard line against the Boeing after the Alaska Airlines episode.

“This won’t be back to business as usual for Boeing,” Mr. Whitaker said in a statement. “They must commit to real and profound improvements. Making foundational change will require a sustained effort from Boeing’s leadership, and we are going to hold them accountable every step of the way.”

Mr. Salehpour said the shortcuts that he believed Boeing was taking resulted in excessive force being applied to narrow unwanted gaps in the assembly connecting pieces of the Dreamliner’s fuselage. He said that force led to deformation in the composite material, which he said could increase the effects of fatigue and lead to premature failure of the composite.

John Cox, a former airline pilot who runs a safety consulting firm, said that while composites were more tolerant of excess force than metals, it was harder to see that composites had been stressed to the point that they would fail. “They just snap,” he said.

“The catastrophic in-flight breakup, yes, that’s a theoretical possibility,” Mr. Cox said. “That’s why you’d want to have the testing done to preclude that.”

Boeing’s tests are an appropriate step, Mr. Cox said, because “if the degradation goes far enough, that could potentially lead to a catastrophic failure.”
