6 Tips to Prepare Successful Project Proposal for serb

Table of contents

Serb core research grant (crg), tip 1: title preparation, tip 2: project summary, tip 3: serb presentation, tip 4: common errors to avoid, tip 5: beware of predatory journals, tip 6: before submission, how to apply serb crg:.

The Science an d Engineering Research Board (SERB) was established to promote the basic research in Science and Engineering and to provide financial assistance to persons engaged in such research, academic institutions, research and development laboratories, industrial concerns and other agencies for such research and for matters connected therewith or incidental thereto are the primary and distinctive mandate of the Board.

SERB aims to build up the best management systems which would match the best global practices in the area of promotion and funding of basic research.

The SERB Core Research Grant (CRG) scheme encourages emerging and eminent scientist in the field of science and engineering for an individual centric competitive mode of funding. Since the scheme provides core research support to the active researchers, the existing name Extramural Research (EMR) has been renamed as Core Research Grant (CRG).

This article gives the 6 important tips to prepare a successful project proposal for SERB Core Research Grant (CRG).

For title preparation, List all accepted abbreviations and words that information the reviewer of the content and mission relevance.

Arrange abbreviations into a compelling and write an informative title that fits the space.

When selecting the title, emphasize the product of the research, not the process.

The project summary is the most important part of the project proposal for SERB.

The summary of proposal should be easily interpretable by laypersons.

Try to avoid writing the proposal in the last minute.

Don’t write the review background or past accomplishment.

Create linear flow of logic when linked, one after another.

Make the summary as a standalone page.

Try to restrict the number of slide from 5 to 8 when preparing the propsal presentation.

The first slide must be the Title with Affiliation.

Write a clearly about the proposed objective and expected outcome.

Neatly present the work plan and methodology.

List the publication details from the last 5 years which should be relevant to the proposed work.

List the detailed ongoing and completed projects (if available)

Important ->Details of budget: clearly specify the budget which is really required to accomplish the proposed project.

Trt to avoid poor methodological approach in the proposal.

The proposal should not be conflict with any ethical issues.

Avoid lack of adequate justification.

Avoid Publishing your research in predatory journals

Articles published in predatory journals may be one of reasons to get you project rejected.

How To Identify Fake Journals

Revisit the complete proposal twice before submitting. A simple error will create a bad impression at first sight.

Proofread before submission and check whether you used the correct format given from SERB online .

Also, verify all the symbols and fonts, plots etc.,

The Call for applications will be notified through the website  www.serbonline.in  and  www.serb.gov.in . The application form along with a proper research proposal highlighting the research work to be undertaken should be submitted online through the website  www.serbonline.in .

Hope, this article helps you to prepare a better and successful CRG proposal.

SERB Special Call for Proposals

Focal Theme of the calls Wearable Electronics for Biomedical Applications: Mobile health technologies offer great potential for reducing healthcare expenses and improving patient treatment. Wearable technological solutions are providing a transformation in the mobile health era in terms of improvising healthcare and providing real-time analysis on improved health management and tracing. The focus of proposals under this category is expected to develop portable, wearable & implantable electronic devices those are essential for medical purposes such as diagnosis, examination, treatment, care, assistance, and research. Interdisciplinarity : Electronics, Healthcare, Software, Algorithms, and Information Technology. Reagentless Organic Synthesis: It is desired to achieve maximum atom economy through 'clean' chemical reactions with minimal waste generation to avoid adverse environmental impact. One of the best approaches for reducing unwanted and wasteful materials emerging from a reaction or chemical technology process would be where the reactions could be achieved by the application of heat, light, sound or using electrolysis, leading to development of sustainable technologies. This call will look for disruptive developments in reagentless enabling strategies for synthetic applications both at lab and kilo scale reactors. These ideas will have to be inextricably intertwined with potential applications in frontier areas. Interdisciplinarity : Chemical Science and Chemical Technology/ Pharmaceuticals Selective Fluorination Strategies: Many commercially successful chemicals ascribe their biological activity and metabolic stability to the presence of strategically placed fluorine atoms in their structures. Despite the advances, the preparation of many fluorinated pharmaceutical building blocks and active agrochemical intermediates remains a significant challenge. This special call will support development of benign fluorination strategies for diverse organic substrates and amides, including late-stage fluorination. Interdisciplinarity : Chemical Science and Pharmaceuticals/Fine Chemicals Biology of Plants under extreme environments: India is one of the biodiversity hotspots which covers diversity in all the levels of producers (flora). The diversity of producer species, on which all life depends, is immense, and it ranges from cyanobacteria to forest trees. Plant life covers much of Earth's land surface, providing structure to ecosystems (e.g., interacting systems of organisms and their physical environment), habitat for consumers, and regulating the exchange of energy and chemicals with the atmosphere. The present scenario of climate change insists us to think seriously on climate change resilient research specially in the area of extreme biology. The increasing threats of climatological extremes including high/ low temperature, light, abiotic and biotic factors. It has also been reported that there is a differential effect of climate change both in terms of geographical location and productivity yield of crops. The above-mentioned factors have wide range of effects on plants in terms of physiology, biochemistry and gene regulation pathway. Interdisciplinarity : Plant Sciences, Climate
