• Association of I nformation Technology Professionals – CompTIA is a network for both students and professionals in the IT world. It offers scholarships, competitions, events, products, career counseling, and more. College attendees can take advantage of a reduced-rate student membership.
• Society for Information Management – SIM is for senior professionals in information technology. You might not qualify for membership while you’re still in school, but when you meet their criteria, you’ll have access to all kinds of legal, technical, financial, and academic benefits.

There are other organizations that welcome IT students as well, so don’t be afraid to shop around. Look for a professional network that suits your exact needs, interests, and career goals.

Financial Aid & Scholarships

Financial aid is a little different as a graduate student, but it’s still possible to get it. Your first step should be filling out the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). You might have heard that PhD students aren’t eligible for Pell Grants anymore, but that’s only partially true; there are circumstances where low-income students can still receive it.

You may also have loan options with the FAFSA. You won’t qualify for a subsidized loan anymore, but you may be able to take out Direct Unsubsidized Loan or a Direct PLUS Loan for Graduate or Professional Students.

Outside of the FAFSA, you can look for grants, fellowships, internships, and work-study programs. Fellowships are particularly common for graduate students, so be sure to talk to your professors about opportunities.

Last but not least, consider applying for scholarships. Some are available to both undergraduate and graduate students; others are meant specifically for PhD candidates. The doctoral program is a research-oriented program in which the student chooses specific fields of specialization, prepares sufficiently in the literature and the research of those fields to pass a qualifying examination, and completes original research culminating in the written dissertation. RIT graduate programs ranked among best in nation by ‘U.S. News & World Report’

'U.S. News & World Report' ranked RIT’s Saunders College of Business among the best graduate programs in the nation.

Graduate degree programs at Rochester Institute of Technology were named among the best in the nation, according to U.S. News & World Report.

In the U.S. News & World Report Best Graduate Schools 2024 , RIT’s Saunders College of Business tied for 97th as one of the top full-time MBA programs .

New methodologies for ranking full-time MBA programs placed more emphasis on earnings. This ranking factor assessed how each school’s post-graduate salaries across different professions compared with other schools’ post-graduate salaries in those professions.

This change was made to account for the importance of compensation for prospective business school students, the varying vocational interests of students at different schools, and to more fully refine the impact business schools have on their graduates’ starting salaries.

U.S. News is delaying the publication of this year’s best engineering schools due to questions about new ranking indicators pertaining to bibliometric data. Concerns arose about the consideration of affiliated institutions in this area. Results for the best medical schools are also under review.

Typically, US News & World Report ranks annually graduate programs in six fields—business, education, engineering, law, medicine, and nursing to help prospective students make informed decisions. These data-driven rankings have been based on enrollment numbers, job placement rates, faculty statistics, and other indicators.

U.S. News also periodically ranks programs in 12 academic disciplines based on academic reputation. This year, RIT’s computer science MS program in the Golisano College of Computing and Information Sciences tied 70th in the nation.

RIT programs ranked in prior years, based on peer assessment, remain tied:

• 65th for the health care management MS program offered by the College of Health Sciences and Technology;
• 78th for physics ( astrophysical sciences and technology Ph.D. program) offered by the College of Science;
• 188th for the physician assistant MS program offered by the College of Health Sciences and Technology .
• 6th for photography and 23rd among fine arts MFA program, offered in the College of Art and Design ; and
• 119th for the bioinformatics MS program offered by the College of Science.

Peer assessment data regarding the academic quality of programs came from deans, program directors, and senior faculty. U.S. News also surveyed professionals who hire or work with new graduates with degrees from the six disciplines ranked annually.

That information can then be used to make recommendations to businesses, organizations, and individuals alike. This field is growing rapidly with a high demand among IT professionals. In fact, the job outlook for data scientists is  projected to grow by 35 percent  by 2032.  

Network Architecture and Administration  

Many IT degree holders go on to work as network and computer systems administrators or architects. They handle important tasks such as the configuration and maintenance of a company's computer systems and networks.

The need for skilled web developers continues to grow across all sectors, with BLS data projecting a  growth of 16 percent between 2022 and 2032 . As the threat of cyber attacks continues to grow, so does the demand for qualified information security and cybersecurity professionals. In fact, the demand for information security analysts is projected to grow by  32 percent between 2022 and 2032 , with an expected employment change of more than 53,000.  

Degrees and Certifications in Information Technology  

Depending on where your interests lie, there are several different degree options and additional designations you might explore in IT.  

Overview of Various IT Degrees  

Generally, IT degrees are available at both the undergraduate and graduate level. An associate degree in IT is generally the first step after obtaining a high school diploma or equivalent, with these degree programs usually taking around one to two years to complete. This kind of degree program can offer a great introduction to the field while potentially qualifying you for some entry-level IT positions.  

Another undergraduate degree option to consider in IT is that of a bachelor's degree, which usually takes around four years to complete (depending on your enrollment status). If you already have a bachelor's degree in IT or a related field and are looking to pursue a more advanced degree, then a master's in IT may be right for you. Typically, these programs consist of around 31 credit hours and are designed to take about two years to complete. The curriculum of a master's degree program is more rigorous and may include coursework in such topics as business intelligence, database systems, and organizational leadership. Georgia Southern’s Master of Science in Information Technology degree program prepares professionals with the advanced knowledge and skills needed to configure, implement, secure and manage the systems, networks and data that support every sector of our economy. The program serves both full-time students preparing for a career as an IT professional, and currently-employed IT professionals seeking an advanced education to augment their existing skills and background.

Admission Requirements

• Admissions to the MSIT program are competitive. Meeting the admissions requirements does not guarantee admission to the program.
• Completed requirements for the Bachelor’s degree at a college or university accredited by the proper regional accrediting association.
• An undergraduate degree or the equivalent in Information Technology, Computer Science/Engineering, or Information Systems, or closely related field of study.
• A 3.00 (4.0 scale) cumulative grade point average (GPA) or higher on courses in undergraduate work, or equivalent.
• International students must meet College of Graduate Studies English Proficiency requirements.
• Two years of work experience in the IT field if the undergraduate degree in not in Information Technology, Information Systems, Computer Science/Engineering or a closely related field; and
• A competitive score on the GRE or GMAT exam. The GRE or GMAT exam may be waived if the applicant has three or more years of work experience in IT or a closely related field.

Welcome to the Clinical Psychology Psy.D. Program at Florida Institute of Technology. The program at Florida Tech that leads to a Psy.D. in clinical psychology is accredited by the American Psychological Association* and offers students training based on a practitioner-scholar model that prepares students for entry-level positions as clinical psychologists.  To achieve that goal, we are committed to training students with strong and continually developing clinical competencies, whose clinical work is informed by the scientific and theoretical knowledge base of the discipline of psychology, and whose graduates respect and value cultural and individual difference, and who maintain the highest professional principles and standards.

Our program leading to a Psy.D in Clinical Psychology trains students to become practicing clinical psychologists with core competencies in relational/clinical skills, comprehensive psychological assessment, clinical treatment interventions, research and evaluation skills, consultation and education, management and supervision, and diversity issues.

Admission Requirements

An applicant must possess a bachelor's degree from an accredited institution of higher learning. Although it is not necessary for the major area to have been psychology, it is required that those entering without a previous degree in psychology will have completed at least 18 credit hours of psychology coursework at the time of application. These courses must have been taken in a department of psychology, and should include statistics, personality theory, abnormal psychology, learning, physiological psychology and social psychology.

All application materials must be received by December 1 of each year.

Visit the graduate admissions information page for all the information you need to apply to the program. Admissions applications must include transcripts, GRE general test scores, a personal statement, two letters of recommendation, and a resume or CV.

Students we will consider for admission will receive an invitation approximately two weeks prior to our Interview Day, typically held in February. Attendance at Interview Day is VERY strongly recommended.

Project description:

Healthcare decision-making has previously focussed on developing recommendations for single conditions. However, standardised care for each chronic condition in isolation can be inappropriate for individuals living with multiple long-term conditions known as multimorbidity, and may lead to unnecessary polypharmacy. This PhD studentship aims to develop a modelling framework to estimate the natural history of disease in individuals living with multiple long-term conditions using population-scale, linked, electronic health records from the Secure Anonymised Information Linkage (SAIL) Databank Wales Multimorbidity e-Cohort ( Lyons et al , 2021 ). This approach will allow estimation of the potential adverse effects (such as hospitalisations) of drug-on-drug interactions for the treatment of multiple conditions and associated genetic, environmental, or demographic risk factors. Further this PhD project will compare the efficacy of different combinations of treatments used in people with multiple long-term conditions, and assess potential health inequalities.   

Facilities 

The PhD student will be based in Population Data Science at Swansea University with visiting PhD Student Status at the Department of Statistics at the University of Warwick, benefiting from the stimulating and supportive environment and bespoke training programmes. The successful candidate will receive training to develop their knowledge and expertise in statistical modelling, epidemiology, population data science and health technology assessment, with the opportunity for their research to directly inform healthcare policy and practice. The successful student will have the opportunity to present their work at national and international conferences and workshops.  

This PhD is funded as part of the HDR UK Medicines in Acute and Chronic Care Driver Programme, which is a national collaboration that aims to understand and transform the use of medicines for patient benefit, and reduce medicines-associated harm. The Driver Programme has a particular focus on vulnerable populations including people living with multiple long-term conditions and those experiencing health inequalities. The successful candidate will be one of several PhD students contributing to the wider HDR UK Driver Programmes and will have the opportunity to collaborate with the wider HDR UK Driver Programme Team as well as access additional training and associated events hosted by HDR UK. 

Eligibility

Candidates must hold an Upper Second Class (2.1) honours degree. Candidates  will need an MSc in Statistics/Biostatistics or Epidemiology/Health Data Science (with a strong analytical component ) plus programming and data analysis skills/experience in R and/or Python.  

Experience of analysing large-scale linked electronic health record data and k nowledge of Bayesian methods would be an advantage.
