What Works Well for this Personal Statement?

Why will the admissions committe like this applicant, why will the admissions committe like this essay.

My journey began amidst the kaleidoscope of Qatar’s landscapes, setting the stage for a life attuned to cultural nuances. Transitioning to Riyadh in my teens, I absorbed a mosaic of traditions, sparking a curiosity in global perspectives that continues to fuel my ambitions.

As a testament to this drive, I secured a place at Harvard Business School (HBS), where my management science studies were not merely academic; they were a gateway to a multitude of business disciplines, igniting a passion for marketing and international business. The hallmark case study approach at HBS deepened my understanding of business intricacies, particularly in marketing and global commerce.

An extraordinary chapter unfolded when I participated in a global business competition, collaborating with peers from the USA, Canada, and India to strategize market entry for a top American brand in India. My leadership in this project involved in-depth market analyses, resulting in our strategy’s recognition among the top 5% of 30,000 contenders. This experience was pivotal, sharpening my leadership skills and enhancing my adaptability to global business practices.

During my senior year, I was honored to represent HBS at the Indian Institute of Management (IIM) as part of an elite exchange program. The vibrant intellectual environment at IIM, peppered with students from over 80 nations, was instrumental in broadening my academic and cultural horizons. Here, I not only excelled academically but also embraced the multifaceted campus life, contributing to a deeper, more nuanced understanding of international business.

Engagement with multicultural student organizations at Harvard, particularly in roles such as the social media head, honed my digital communication strategies and allowed me to lead impactful campaigns. My leadership role at the Harvard Climate Change Community further polished my ability to foster collaboration and guide diverse teams towards common goals.

My professional acumen was further developed through a dynamic internship with Walmart in New York City, where I worked within Business Intelligence & Marketing. This role required leveraging data analytics to inform strategies across the U.S. market, refining my skills in project management and analytical reasoning.

My subsequent experience at McKinsey provided a holistic view of the business landscape in key American cities, equipping me with a comprehensive skill set in marketing strategy and project execution. These roles, shaped by real-world challenges, have laid a solid foundation for my future in marketing and international commerce.

Having lived and worked across cultures—in Brazil, the Middle East, and the United States—I am prepared to contribute meaningfully to the international business sphere. The masters in international business (MIB) program at XYZ university, with its emphasis on a ‘Multi-Cultural Classroom’ and flexibility to specialize in International Market Development, is a perfect fit for my career aspirations.

Upon completing my master’s, I aim to leverage my education and experiences to enhance the burgeoning economic landscape of the Middle East, focusing on the diversification efforts that are propelling the region forward. With a master’s degree from XYZ university, I am excited about the prospect of returning to Riyadh, contributing to the growth of multinational corporations in Saudi Arabia.

In conclusion, my educational journey through leading institutions, coupled with practical business engagements, has prepared me for the challenges of an international career. I am eager to further my education in the United States, confident that XYZ university is the catalyst I need to transform my professional ambitions into reality.

BSc Business Management Personal Statement Example

Any global business relies on its management and ability to make informed decisions, consider internal and external factors, and think critically and creatively. I want to be a part of this revolution, thus I humbly submit this business management personal statement to hopefully earn a place in your programme.

Since the turn of the century, organisations have had access to an explosion of data and witnessed its value multiply.

It is now possible for companies to extract knowledge using qualitative and quantitative methods, such as analyzing customer preferences in real-time and predicting future trends. Data is now driving innovation and competitive advantage through boardroom decision-making.

Only those companies that implement data analytics, customer centricity, and AI into their process will survive in the long run. Blackberry, Blockbuster, and MySpace are all intriguing examples of companies that failed to be agile and could not compete against Apple, Netflix, and Facebook.

As a result, I am more convinced of the growing importance of good management and the interdisciplinary skills covered in this degree, which will contribute to my pursuit of a career as a Management Consultant. Due to the subjects I studied at A-level, I am confident I will excel in this course.

Statistics and Mathematics have allowed me to think logically and apply statistical techniques to understanding data. In contrast, History has equipped me with a critical understanding of history and the ability to compose coherent and persuasive writing.

A number of my research projects with Geography have focused on global events, such as analysing and evaluating problems, solutions, and broader implications, including environmental, social, legal, and economic impacts. I was awarded flying colours for consistently high academic performance.

As my secondary school didn’t offer the school certificate preparation in Economics, I decided to teach myself as part of my foundation year.

I have developed various skills through co-curricular activities, including leadership, teamwork, and time management. My responsibilities included managing the students to ensure the smooth functioning of our school food club. I used my communication skills and customer relationship management to resolve conflicts between members and stakeholders.

I also studied for a course in the Oxbridge Creative Writing Virtual Retreat at the University of Cambridge, where I earned an “A” and came to realise how beneficial it would be to study at a worldwide renowned and outward-looking institution which would offer me opportunities and connections unavailable in my native country.

I would consider it a great honour to be selected for a Management degree that teaches the technical, human, and conceptual skills necessary to run a business and teaches contemporary modules that will prepare me to work in today’s technologically advanced world.

Please accept my business management personal statement for admission to study for a degree at your university.

MSc Business Management Personal Statement Example

My interest in business management began early at XYZ Grammar School, where I participated in an enterprise week. This gave me an insight into the workings of small businesses and how they operate. I found it very interesting and would like to continue learning about it.

I also studied economics at A Level which has given me a better grasp of the concepts behind the business. The “Markets in Perspective” course during my undergraduate course was both exciting and valuable as it taught me about how governments affect markets.

Governments’ influence on the environment is essential when considering environmental sciences and business because they may impact the surrounding environments where we work, including health and safety regulations, pollution restrictions, and recycling.

I’ve worked in the food industry for three years, gaining valuable experience in every aspect of the business. My role included everything from processing milk to packaging products. I learned about the importance of quality control and how important it is to ensure that your product meets the highest standards.

I also learnt about our actions’ impact on the environment. One particular project I was involved in saw us recycle almost half of the waste we produced. I’m keen to continue working in the food industry and gain further experience.

I am an active participant in my community and am currently involved in volunteering. This has taught me much about how large companies and industrialisation affect our environment. Today, corporations are being held accountable for their environmental impacts. My studies in physics have helped me collect and analyze information to establish trends.

I have worked in a small retail store and learned to communicate effectively through interacting directly with clients and suppliers. In addition, I apply these basic principles in my extracurricular activities.

These include playing sports such as cricket and swimming, as well as taking part in various clubs and societies. These experiences have allowed me to succeed in a career in management. Communication and teamwork are essential to reaching my goals of running my own company.

I have developed my interest in rugby by practising my managerial skills when coaching younger players and planning team drills. A sports leadership programme required me to enforce rules and regulations and to make quick, accurate judgements. I have leadership qualities, and my ambition and enthusiasm will be apparent during my studies. In essence, my drive is to enter and succeed in the business world with the knowledge attained from my degree.

I believe strongly that you must live up to and exceed expectations to succeed in business. A good reputation is vital. As Sir Richard Branson states in Business Stripped Bare, ”don’t promise what you can’t deliver, and deliver everything you promise’.

Please consider this business management personal statement for admission to your prestigious university.

Business and Management Personal Statement

Business is one of the most important components of modern life, and I find its dynamic and interdisciplinary nature very interesting. Having enjoyed studying Business Studies at GCSE and A level, I would like to further my knowledge and learn more about management theory and how different organisations operate in the Global economy. I look forward to applying my learning, and developing practical managerial skills, by undertaking a work placement in industry to enhance my undergraduate study.

I am an extremely self-motivated, organised and diligent student, who achieves in both independent and group working environments. The research and planning involved in my EPQ project, entitled, 'To what extent is branding the most important influence on consumer preferences of coffee shops?' is enhancing my self-study and organisation skills, and allowing me to utilise some of the business theories that I have studied. My A level subjects provide me with skills that complement my study of business. In geography, collecting primary and secondary data before analysing the results has developed my sampling and data handling skills. Cross-over topics include globalisation and demographics, which have helped my understanding of the world within which organisations operate. In history, a subject requiring investigation and review of different historians' interpretations of past events, I have developed my analytical and critical thinking skills. These skills are invaluable in business today, especially in the decision-making process.

I am an active member of my school's Sixth Form council, which has strengthened my oral presentation and problem-solving skills, as the council is based on finding solutions, through discussion, to issues raised. I have volunteered as a prefect and both an educational and peer supporter; responsible positions which required communication skills and maturity to assist lower year students. Through completing work experience at Waitrose, I gained an insight into the world of work, learning about the importance of customer service in the retail sector. I participated in the daily managers' meeting which reinforced the importance to me of leadership, teamwork and communication in business.

In addition, I was a member of the winning team in a school-wide Business Smart Programme that required us to generate and pitch a business idea to senior staff and an external business owner. These experiences confirmed my career aspirations are definitely within the area of Business Management. In addition to extra curricular school responsibilities, playing tennis has been my passion for a number of years and I regularly represent my tennis club's adult first teams in local leagues. Through competing in singles tournaments, I have progressed to an LTA rating of 5.2, which required significant perseverance and commitment to achieve. I am a trained tennis coaching assistant and have a part-time job helping to deliver junior lessons at my club. This allows me to apply my leadership, planning and communication skills to organise a group of young players who require clear, concise and structured direction in order to improve their game. I also captain a local table tennis team and have represented Chelmsford in the National Junior League. Playing so much sport whilst studying has required me to effectively prioritise and manage my time. Undertaking the Duke of Edinburgh Bronze, Silver and Gold awards has allowed me to participate in many varied activities and learn the importance of leadership, co-operation and determination to successfully overcome challenging situations and enjoy team expeditions.

I am very much looking forward to studying a degree in Business and Management at university to further both my theoretical business knowledge and its practical application into the 'real world'. I will grasp every opportunity available and am excited to face the challenges that university life has to offer.

International business personal statement example 5.

From a young age, I developed an eager interest to how both small and large businesses work. My enthusiasm for a business-related subject came from growing up watching my stepfather run a small and successful tailor store and my mother working at Citibank. This made me aware of the daily life in the business world where an extensive amount of time and effort is put in, in order to satisfy the need of the customers. As my stepfather's tailor store used to be situated in my home country Vietnam, I also became fascinated of how a business could be moved from one country to another. I became keen to understand how the success of a business could differ tremendously depending on culture and circumstances. Furthermore I have always been drawn to understanding the way the world works and how different cultures cooperate in order to function as a whole. Therefore working in the international spheres within business has for a long time been a great interest of mine.

Studying economics in social studies 1 and 2 strengthened these early interests. It taught me the pricing of goods and services, the process of production and the basic concept of supply and demand. Furthermore, in my sustainable development course, I learnt how Maslow's theory of hierarchy of needs can be used in businesses to motivate employees to work productively but also the importance for a business to operate sustainably with its stakeholders in mind. These subjects broadened my knowledge of the development of businesses in an ever changing world. Additionally, through the course of sustainable development I was awarded the opportunity to examine sustainable solutions to transport on a study trip to India. I believe this allows me to advance my practical ability of collecting information and gain experience of the social, economic and environmental issues of the developing world.

Some other interests I have gained from my three years at upper secondary high school are my increasing interests for solving math problems as it has taught me to be determined in solving issues. Moreover my interest for studying English, Swedish, Mandarin, French and Vietnamese has developed my ability to write texts and essays and also understand different cultures. Therefore my mathematical ability allied to my broad linguistics has helped develop my communication skills and hold a balanced and open-minded outlook on the world. These can be useful to drive ideas forward in businesses on a national and global level.

Outside the classrom, I like to involve myself in extra-curricular activities in order to advance my educational experience. Being a part of school associations such as the graduation committee has helped develop my ability for leadership and organization. I was also a member of the schools cheerleading team. Cheerleading was physically demanding and required a great amount of trust. Due to this I learnt the values of hard work, determination and teamwork. Apart from school activities I work at a fast-food restaurant as a part-time job, this has taught me the essence of team work and handling stress and pressure. From this I believe that what has been learnt will be essential for all aspects in the studies of business.

Through studying an area in business at university I believe that it will further strengthen my understanding of this subject. As a student with an international background it would be perfect to study in the United Kingdom as it is offers many international cities with universities that have a global outlook. Also, after receiving high marks in the Social Studies program, I wish to further my ambitions in the business industry in hope to contribute to your university community as I develop theories and ideas of my own to improve the idea of managing a successful business.
