The AirMedia® Presentation System 200 (AM‑200) enables secure wired and wireless presentation in lounges, lobbies, and open spaces, and integrates with popular calendaring platforms to maximize use. It is ideal for organizations with a dispersed workforce, open floor plans, and reliance on mobile devices to present. Connect and Present The AM-200 mounts invisibly behind a wall-mount display and enables wired or wireless presentation with autoswitching. It features AirMedia 2.0 wireless presentation capability, an HDMI® input, HDMI output to the display (HD or WUXGA), and auto-on/off display control via CEC, serial, or IR. Connecting a source selects that input automatically and instantly displays the source image on the display. There’s no programming required, no dongles to plug in, and no remotes to lose or batteries to replace. AirMedia Wireless Presentation Crestron AirMedia technology allows for wireless presentation of content from laptops, smartphones, and tablet devices via a Wi-Fi® wireless network or an optional wireless access point. 1 AirMedia enables presentation of Full HD video at frame rates up to 30 fps. Desktop and laptop computer users can present content using downloadable client software, the AirMedia extension for Google Chrome™ browser, or Miracast™ 1 screen mirroring technology (Windows 10 computers only). Android and iOS mobile devices can present with the AirMedia app or the Crestron PinPoint™ app. For more information about AirMedia, visit www.crestron.com/airmedia . 2 HDMI Connectivity In addition to AirMedia, the AM-200 includes an HDMI input for direct connection of a mini-PC or other local source, or a portable laptop computer via an optional wall plate or cable. The HDMI input supports HD 1080p signals. 3 AirMedia Canvas The AM-200 can be configured to simultaneously present two sources to the display using the AirMedia Canvas feature. AirMedia Canvas automatically configures the best possible layout to maximize screen coverage based on the number of active sources, the type of sources, and their aspect ratios. 4 A connected touch screen can also be used to manage sources and their position on the display. Native Appspace Functionality The AM-200 integrates with the Appspace content management application for digital signage which allows the AM-200 to show Appspace content on a connected display when a space is not in use. Whiteboard Capture Device Compatibility The AM-200 works with the Crestron AirBoard ( CCS-WB-1 ) and Kaptivo Whiteboard Capture Devices. Simply pair the whiteboard capture device with the AM-200, and all of the device controls are available on a connected touch screen. 5 Manage remote participants, start and stop a whiteboard session, route the whiteboard content to the associated display, and email a snapshot or timeline of the whiteboard session. 6 Enhanced Onscreen Experience When no presentation source is connected, the AM-200 displays a customizable welcome screen on the room display with simple instructions for connecting and presenting. Integration with Microsoft Exchange Server® (for users of Outlook® and Microsoft 365® software), Google Calendar™, or Crestron Fusion ® room scheduling allows the space’s availability and details about the current scheduled meeting to appear onscreen. As the meeting progresses, notifications appear periodically to indicate the time left in the meeting and the next scheduled event. Pop-up messages, sent from Crestron Fusion, may also appear in the event of an emergency or other important announcement. XiO Cloud Provisioning and Management Service The AM-200 is compatible with the XiO Cloud service, which enables installers and IT managers to easily deploy and manage thousands of devices. The XiO Cloud service allows for system alerts and network management and provisioning. For more information, visit www.crestron.com/xiocloud . Crestron Fusion Room Monitoring AM-200 presentation spaces can be managed and centrally monitored through the Crestron Fusion enterprise management service. By adding an optional wireless occupancy sensor ( ZUMMESH‑PIR‑OCCUPANCY‑BATT ), the AM-200 can report and log when people are present in the space, turn the display on and off accordingly, and make unused spaces available for new bookings. Crestron Fusion software supports room scheduling, and can integrate with a variety of third-party calendaring applications. In the event of a technical issue, instant alerts notify the help desk to rapidly resolve problems and maximize uptime and workflow. For more information about Crestron Fusion, visit www.crestron.com/fusion . Enterprise-Grade Security The AirMedia Presentation System is an enterprise-grade solution that can be deployed across hundreds of spaces, and set up easily using just a web browser, Crestron Fusion, or XiO Cloud service. It employs standard network security protocols, including 802.1x network access control, Active Directory® authentication, and AES content encryption, to protect privacy and ensure compliance with your organization’s IT policies. Add-on Control Options Manual control of the AM‑200 can be enabled by adding a Crestron TS- or TSW- series 7 in. or 10 in. touch screen. The touch screen provides an additional view of the room schedule and meeting details, with controls for input source selection, display power on/off, and display volume and mute, plus a help page. Additional control options include a wireless 4‑button keypad ( ZUMMESH‑KP10AMBATT series 7 ), which provides simple on/off and volume control, a Power over Ethernet occupancy sensor ( CEN‑ODT‑C‑POE ), and a wireless occupancy sensor ( ZUMMESH‑PIR‑OCCUPANCY‑BATT ) for enhanced automation and room monitoring functionality. The wireless keypad and wireless occupancy sensor require the addition of the AV Bridge accessory ( ZUMMESH‑AVBRIDGE or ZUMMESH‑AVBRIDGE‑I ), which connects to the AM-200 via USB.

  • When the AirMedia Canvas feature is enabled, the 4:2:0 color space is used for high definition sources connected to the HDMI input port. When the AirMedia Canvas feature is disabled, the 4:4:4 color space is used. If the 4:4:4 color space is required by sources connected to the HDMI input port, the AirMedia Canvas feature should be disabled.
  • A TS- or TSW- series 7 in. or 10 in. touch screen (sold separately) is required for operation.
  • Crestron AirBoard or Kaptivo integration with the AM-200/300 is entirely configuration-based. When the whiteboard capture device is paired with the AM-200/300, programmatic control is not supported in SIMPL Windows or SIMPL# Pro. If custom program controls for a whiteboard capture device are required, use a DGE-100 in place of an AM-200/300.
  • Wireless keypad functionality is limited to power and volume control, and requires use of a display device that supports discrete power on, power off, volume up, and volume down commands via CEC, IP, IR, or RS‑232.
  • With or without reduced blanking.
  • With reduced blanking only.

  • Test and Commission the AirMedia Presentation System

Once AirMedia devices are selected and deployed in a properly provisioned network, and AirMedia sender applications and mobile apps are configured, the AirMedia device for each room should be tested prior to commissioning the device.

  • AirMedia Test Use Cases by User Experience

When testing AirMedia, use cases are typically split in priority as follows:

  • Desktop users
  • Mobile users

Testing the entire flow of the desktop and mobile AirMedia experiences helps ensure that mass deployment is successful.

  • Front of Room Experience

All AirMedia use cases center around the user’s ability to access the AirMedia device through the front‑of‑room experience screen. On the front‑of‑room experience screen, each AirMedia device can display connection information and customizable backgrounds.

In simpler rooms such as huddle spaces, the default front‑of‑room experience should be used in every case. Simpler rooms are where the only devices for presentation are AirMedia Series 3, AM‑200, AM‑300, CCS-UC-1, or CCS‑UC‑1-X devices, along with any attached sensors, switches, and panels. For more complex configurations where simpler AirMedia devices are attached (i.e., DMPS3‑4K‑250‑C, DMPS3-4K‑350‑C, and other Crestron products that have multiple inputs and/or use programming via control processors), the system should be programmed and controlled to use the default front‑of‑room experience.

There are some cases that do not allow for the default front-of-room experience. In these cases, clear instructions for accessing the AirMedia welcome screen or the AirMedia connection information (such as address and code for room) should be provided to users. Whenever controls such as buttons or panels are present, they should be clearly labeled and highly visible so users can access AirMedia.

The customizable background feature is an effective way to give guidance to all AirMedia users in any room and should be leveraged whenever possible. On AirMedia Series 3 and AirMedia 2.0 devices, there are additional options for the connection address, including a custom option that allows for entry of something other than the IP address or host name of the device. This can also be set to text instructions, URL shortening services, or anything else an administrator may need to assist the user connection experience.

  • PC User Experience Test Case Considerations

PC users typically comprise 85-90% of the total types of users, with mobile users taking up the remainder. The user experience will vary in environments with mixed Windows and macOS computers. Instructions for AirMedia sender application use vary as discussed in AirMedia Sender Applications for User Download . To provide an optimal AirMedia user experience:

  • Install the AirMedia deployable AirMedia sender application silently with the appropriate options for operation. Application management from a central organization can also provide a uniform user experience.
  • Provide basic guidance to users through the front of room experience. Instructive, on-screen backgrounds or instruction placards can also be provided to advise users on proper use.
  • Provide optimal methods for room discovery, such as centralized room lists and allowing mDNS and Bonjour (including third party solutions).
  • Design user interfaces (i.e., panels or buttons) for clarity to enable ease of use when first connecting to AirMedia.

Test all of the intended connection methods prior to commissioning a system to ensure a smooth user experience.

  • Mobile User Experience Test Case Considerations

Mobile users comprise up to 15% of total types of users. While the same considerations for PC users can apply to mobile users, specific considerations for mobile users include:

  • Installation of the AirMedia app typically requires users to access the respective app store for the device. Installation cannot be automated, so guidance will need to be given.
  • The AirMedia app allows users full-screen capture for AirMedia Series 3, AirMedia 2.0, and AM‑101 devices.
  • The AirMedia for AM-100 app is primarily for AM-100 (or AM-101) users or those who require multiview and moderator mode functions. The AirMedia for AM‑100 app will launch automatically from the AirMedia app (if installed) when an attempt is made to connect to the AM‑100. If the correct app is not installed, the user will be directed to the corresponding app store to download the correct AirMedia sender application.
  • While the iOS and Android AirMedia sender applications have similar user interfaces, the iOS experience requires use of iOS’ built in mirroring function. Instructions for use are given to the user upon connecting to the AirMedia receiver.
  • Room lists are not available on AirMedia mobile apps. The AirMedia and PinPoint™ apps, however, do have the capability to use Bluetooth beacons such as the Crestron PP 100 provisioned through Crestron Fusion to automatically present room connection information. Refer to the Crestron Fusion and Crestron PP 100 product documentation for details on configuring Bluetooth room beacons.

NOTE: AirMedia Series 3 receivers are not compatible with the PinPoint app.

  • Although streaming apps for popular video services are supported in AirMedia, the AirMedia device must be on the same subnet as the mobile device to function correctly. These apps may occasionally exhibit erratic behavior on mobile devices when the app is updated. It is recommended to contact the app vendor in the event such behavior persists.

Testing for mobile users should encompass the considerations above for both the AirMedia app and the AirMedia for AM‑100 app.

  • Commission and Monitor AirMedia Devices

Once the use cases for AirMedia are established and tested, and other room functionality is tested, the commissioned room is ready for AirMedia and other uses. For optimal performance, AirMedia use cases should be reevaluated as time and circumstances permit. Crestron provides cloud tools such as Crestron Fusion and the XiO Cloud service to understand how AirMedia‑enabled rooms are used. Analyzing usage information and patterns can help adjust rooms to user needs for AirMedia, while monitoring tools can minimize downtime and user complaints should an issue arise. These monitoring tools should be used in conjunction with network monitoring wherever possible to determine issues with Wi‑Fi access points and the general health of the network.

Really interesting to see these - monumental architecture - I could post some shots of the underground in Liverpool - but don't think it would pass muster.

I am not sure what these forums are for but, for me, these photos of city and other shots from places I will never get to are what I look forward to seeing.

Sort of National Geographic from a very personal point of view

Thank you, Richard!

I think that we can make out of the N1 forum whatever we want it to be. Everybody else has moved on to some other hunting grounds by now, with N1 being a "dead system" (haha). There even isn't a community moderator assigned to here any more.

BTW, as it'll be some time for me to come to Liverpool (no further business trips for me, yeah!!), I'm actually curious to see pictures from there...

Thanks! The pictures were taken on a business trip and I had been lucky to steal a few hours at good weather after work. it was what I enjoyed most on those trips and the N1 system was a perfect companion there.

I agree and think that is a terrific idea.

Nikon may have killed off the N1 system with no future products and essentially non existent support, but I do not view this as a dead system. I only discovered how good N1 stuff is about 2 months before Nikon pulled the plug and since then I've purposely built out my system with many bodies and lots of lenses. My larger gear with 3 DX bodies and lenses from 12mm to 500mm sits gathering dust, unused since the N1 gear is so fun and covers almost all my needs.

So, there's still a place for sharing information from the veterans to the new users. And there's definitely room to share images from around the world taken with N1 cameras and lenses.

  16. Russian IADS Redux Part-7: The Effectors

The kinetic side of the IADS depends on the Russian Aerospace Force's (RASF's) fighters and Surface-to-Air Missile (SAM) systems. Sources have shared with Armada that both the fighter and SAM force would be deployed in wartime to protect key Russian strategic targets. Typically, these could include politico-military targets like the Kremlin, the seat of the Russian government in Moscow.
