Windows is a series of graphical operating systems developed by Microsoft to overcome the limitations of MS-DOS. The first successful versions were Windows 3.0 in 1990, followed by Windows 98, 2000, XP, Vista, 7, and the latest Windows 8.
The document provides an overview of the history and development of Microsoft Windows operating systems from Windows 1.0 through Windows 10. It summarizes each major version of Windows, including the year of release and key features.
Without an operating system, a computer is useless. •An operating system (OS) is system software that manages computer hardware, software resources, and provides common services for computer programs. •An Operating System (OS) is an interface between a computer user and computer hardware.
