Q: What is the admission rate into the Physics PhD program? A: It varies from year to year but historically we have admitted ~10-12% of applicants. In our most recent round of admissions (2022-2023), we admitted 10% of the 400+ students who applied into the Physics PhD program at USC. Q: I am interested in studying biophysics/physical biology.
Maybe to the ultra prestigious, but I doubt it. John Hopkins has a 19% acceptance rate and that will be on the low end. Most graduate chemistry schools are closer to 50%. Which is probably higher than the worst med schools in the country. Biophysics to analytical or inorganic is quite the jump.
Admission to USC is competitive. We favor applicants who demonstrate strong potential for research careers through their academic record (indicated by choice of course work and GPA), have considerable experience conducting research, have strong letters of endorsement from faculty who have known them well, and who express career goals consistent with our own model and mission to train clinical ...
