The most prevalent human rights violation that cuts across all sectors of society -- even the rich and highly educated -- is violence against women (VAW). In 2006 a total of 5,758 VAW cases were reported to the police. Physical injury is prevalent, accounting for 38.86% reported attacks; Domestic violence ranks second with 26.07% of VAW cases.
