How to Write a Scholarship Essay for Law School

D eciding to go to law school is a huge decision, and one which often comes with high financial implications. Luckily, there are many scholarship opportunities for law students that can help make the process more manageable. Scholarships are available, both from individual schools as well as private funders. There are many important pieces of your scholarship application, including your previous academic transcripts, college GPA and LSAT scores. However, the essay is one of the most important aspects of receiving a scholarship for law school because it provides you with an opportunity to prove to the scholarship committee who you are as a writer, a person, a student and as a future lawyer.

Having good GPA and LSAT scores are undeniably important. However, these measures only represent a number, and many applicants come from strong academic backgrounds. This means if you want to stand out, the essay is the place to shine in terms of increasing your chances for both being accepted to law school and receiving scholarship funds.

Doing your research and understanding the ins and outs of law school scholarships is essential to increasing your chances of receiving a scholarship. Be sure to double-check deadlines, conduct due diligence on what kinds of scholarships you meet the criteria for, and research every possible avenue of funding that might be available. Most schools offer merit-based scholarships for accepted students, and often this kind of scholarship decision is determined by the school’s general law school application.

For merit-based scholarships from schools , this means that you should consider your personal statement as both your ticket to get into law school as well as a chance to receive merit scholarship funds.

Personal statements for law school should focus on what makes you unique as a person. They can focus on an important event in your life, your upbringing, your background, or anything that shows committees why you deserve to receive a scholarship while at the same time demonstrating that you are a good candidate to go to law school. Keep in mind that a personal statement is meant to be just that. It’s different from a statement of purpose because it’s not a time to tell committees what kind of law you want to practice or the kind of research you hope to conduct. Committees want to hear about you!

Another important aspect of the law school scholarship application process to understand is that some law schools have endowment funds that can provide scholarships to law students. These scholarships sometimes require a separate essay, so be sure to pay close attention to individual school’s requirements. Endowment funds sometimes take financial situations into consideration, but writing an essay that is unique, well written and distinct from your personal essay (if they are separate essays) is essential. Some schools suggest focusing on aspects of your life that you consider unique or diverse.

Private, outside scholarships are another great source of funding and once again, writing a good scholarship essay is extremely important.

Once you’ve researched which scholarships you are eligible to apply for, give every essay you write individual attention. If there is a specific prompt, make sure you answer the prompt directly , and don’t use a one-size-fits-all approach. Scholarship committees will be able to tell if you are recycling the same essay and aren’t tailoring your writing to their specific scholarship or prompt. Though with these kinds of essays you should keep your audience in mind, staying authentic and true to your values and beliefs is as important as ever.

Specificity can be a key factor in writing a successful essay. Many scholarships are geared towards minority groups, veterans, or people who want to practice in a certain area of law. Additionally, there are also scholarships for future lawyers who want to teach or to work in public service. Knowing what niche you fit into and tailoring your writing to these categories is a great way to set yourself up for success.

Regardless of what kind of law school scholarship essay you are writing, your writing should reflect the fact that you are applying for funds that are tailored to a very challenging level of education. Having errors, typos and careless mistakes is not the kind of first impression you want to make to the scholarship committee. You want your writing to be mature, accurate and thoroughly edited. This will help prove your attention to detail and willingness to commit to your work.

Similarly, be sure to adhere to all essay requirements, such as word count, format and answering all parts of the prompt. Stay on top of deadlines and be sure to research whether or not applying early will increase your chance of receiving a scholarship. You don’t want to miss out on funds because you waited until the last minute or missed a deadline.

Some sources of scholarship funds provide scholarship money on a rolling basis until the funds are gone, so try to write those essays first in order to get them turned in quickly.  Have someone you trust, such as a mentor or advisor, proofread your essays. It can also be helpful to read examples of other successful law school scholarship essays, so you can get a sense of what committees are looking for.

Putting in the time and effort to craft a law school scholarship essay that truly shines can significantly ease the financial burden of law school, and making your essay the best it can be will pay off in the long term.

See below for a comprehensive list of scholarships for potential and current law students.

Searching for financial aid and scholarship opportunities to cover the cost of full tuition at law school is no easy challenge, particularly with the multitude of scholarships now available to cover some of your law school expenses.

Below is a list of scholarships I’ve found that provide financial support to college students considering law school (or law students currently in law school). Is something not on this list that should be here? If so, please send me an email and I’ll add it.

Mexican-American Legal Defense and Educational Fund (MALDEF)  

Amount: $5,000

Deadline: January 31

Application: Click here

Students with a commitment to pursuing a legal career in Latino civil rights can apply for the MALDEF scholarship. They must also be currently enrolled as a full-time student in an accredited U.S. law school. Applicants must be legal residents of the United States. They must also provide a resume, letter of recommendation, and a personal statement essay.

Sidney B. Williams, Jr. Scholarship

Amount: $10,000

Deadline: March 16

The Sidney B. Williams, Jr. Scholarship is open for students enrolled or are enrolling in law school. Selection is for students who are committed to pursuing a legal career in intellectual property (IP) law. This scholarship is for U.S. residents only. Applications must include their submitted FAFSA, transcripts, letters of recommendation, and a minimum GPA of 3.0 or better.

American Bar Association Legal Opportunity Scholarship

Amount: $15,000

Deadline: TBA

The American Bar Association encourages minority students to apply for this scholarship. It is available to first-year law students over three years to provide assistance for attending and completing law school. All U.S. residents and permanent citizens may apply.

Rizio Liberty Lipinsky Lawyer Scholarship

Deadline: May 1

Sponsored by the Rizio Lipinsky Law Firm, this scholarship is available for students pursuing a legal career in personal injury, employment, and victim’s rights law. Applicants must submit a 1,000-word essay on why they are choosing to practice law. The award is open to permanent residents or U.S. citizens.

Judge John R. Brown Award

Deadline: June 3

Scholarship winners receive the Brown Award for their excellence and commitment to the legal profession. Any student enrolled in a JD or LLB program at an accredited US law school are encouraged to apply. A paper and letter of recommendation are required to apply. Students must be U.S. citizens or legal residents.

MCCA Lloyd M. Johnson, Jr. Scholarship

Deadline: June 19

The LMJ Scholarship is awarded to women and minorities who are admitted to an ABA-accredited law school with interest in a career in corporate law and demonstrate a commitment to diversity. Recipients also receive mentorship from past scholars as they pursue a legal career. Students must be US citizens or permanent residents to file an application.

Arent Fox Diversity Scholarship

Amount: $20,000 + a salaried position

Deadline: June 15

The Arent Fox Diversity Scholarship is for second-year law students in good standing at an accredited US law school. Scholarship winners automatically receive an internship at the firm’s summer program and an offer of employment upon graduation. The scholarship is open to U.S. citizens or permanent residents.

Attorney Ken Nugent Legal Scholarship

Deadline: December 13

Awarded by Kenneth S. Nugent, P.C., applicants must be US residents, who are currently enrolled in an ABA-accredited law school. The minimum GPA requirement is 3.0 or higher. Students must present an essay explaining why they are choosing to enter the legal profession, as well.

BARBRI Law Preview’s “One Lawyer Can Change the World” Scholarship

Deadline: June 1

The BARBRI Scholarship awards students with a commitment to act as a change agent in the legal field It is available to first-year law students to help them pay for their first year. Multiple awards are available for up to 10 winners after submitting a winning essay.

LSAC Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Writing Competition

Deadline: March 31

The Law School Admission Council (LSAC) provides this scholarship to minority, LGBTQ+, and disabled students enrolled or are enrolling in law school. It is designed for the advancement of minorities in the legal field. Students must be permanent residents or citizens of the US.

The NAACP Earl Warren Scholarship

Amount: $30,000

Law school students who have demonstrated academic excellence and commitment to civil rights and racial justice. Criteria to apply also includes applicants to be enrolled as a first-year law student with a proven financial need to attend school. Awards are given to US citizens or permanent residents.

The Han C. Choi Scholarship

Deadline: March 2

Students with a commitment to the Asian-American and Pacific Islander community are encouraged to apply for this scholarship. It is available to students attending an AALS-accredited law school during year one or year two. To meet the eligibility criteria, you must also be a United States permanent resident or citizen

The Sharon and Ivan Fong Scholarship

Deadline: June 30

This scholarship is available to second-year law students with a demonstrated commitment to advancing the public interests in Asian-American Pacific Islander students who want to “pay it forward.” This scholarship is awarded to US permanent residents or citizens.

The UPS/NLF Gold Mountain Scholarships

Deadline: September 2

First-generation Asian-American Pacific Islanders attending law school are eligible to apply. They must also have an interest in pursuing a career as a pro bono or public interest attorney with a demonstrated financial need to attend an ABA-accredit law school. The award is given to US citizens or legal residents.

The Low Family Scholarship

Amount: $2,500

Students with a commitment to the legal issues surrounding the Asian-American Pacific Islander are eligible to apply. Current law students can apply for this award annually to assist in paying the costs associated with attending law school and legal career advancement. You must be a permanent or legal resident of the United States to apply.

The Chris Nakamura Scholarships

In memory of the foundation’s founder, Chris Nakamura. Students do not have to have an Asian-American Pacific Islander background to apply. However, students with experiential and diverse backgrounds are encouraged to apply for the scholarship program. It is open to all incoming and currently enrolled law school students. The scholarship is available to all US residents or legal citizens.

The LimNexus Scholarship

Funded by the Lim, Ruger & Kim Law Firm offers legal students a scholarship pursuing a career as an attorney. Eligibility requirements include being enrolled in a law school, strong academic achievement, and a demonstrated financial background. You must be a legal US resident or citizen to apply.

The Snell & Wilmer Fellowship for Advancement and Resources

Amount: Cost of LSAT Prep, law school prep, and $300 for books each semester

The concept of the Snell & Wilmer FAR prepares students for law school and helps them foster professional relationships. This program is for diverse students who need educational mentorship. Students who are US residents or citizens may apply. The firm will also provide the necessary tools and equipment to succeed in law school.

The Captain James J. Regan Memorial Scholarship

Amount: $500

Deadline March 31

Students entering an accredited law school are eligible to apply for the Captain James J. Regan Memorial Scholarship. In addition to these conditions, students must also pursue a career in criminal law. Eligibility requirements include the student being a U.S. citizen or permanent resident. Submissions must also include a short essay on a pre-selected legal topic.

The Gordon Law Group Scholarship

Amount: $1,000

Deadline: September 30

This scholarship is for students who take an interest in the practice of law. The money can be used for the cost of college tuition as undergraduates or law school students enrolled at an accredited US university. The Gordon Law Group Scholarship is for US citizens. You must also submit an essay on the topic of employee classification in the gaming industry.

The Aaron J. Boria, PLLC, Scholarship

Deadline: March 30

Incoming law school students enrolled at an ABA-accredited institution are welcome to apply for this scholarship. Applications must accompany an essay, and funds are used for all law school-related expenses. Awards are given on educational merit and content. The Aaron J. Boria, PLLC, Scholarship is for US citizens or permanent residents.

Baumgartner Law Firm Law Student Scholarship Application

Amount: $3,000

Deadline: August 31

This annual scholarship is awarded to enrolled law students. They can use the funds for tuition, books, and any law school-related expense. Scholarships are awarded based on financial need and professional commitment. A US residency or citizenship is required for the application.

The Carole Bailey Scholarship

Amount: Up to $5,000

Deadline: August 1

Incoming law students who have an interest in pursuing a public service legal profession with a past commitment to public service can apply. They must also have current enrollment status with an ABA-accredited law school. You should also be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident. Applicants must submit a CV, transcript, letter of recommendation, and an original essay.

The Cherepinskiy Law Firm, P.C. Scholarship

This annual legal scholarship is for students who wish to pursue a career as an attorney. They must have a current enrollment at an accredited law school with a minimum GPA of 3.0. An essay submission is a requirement for this award. Applicants must be permanent, US residents or citizens for eligibility.

The Fleming Law Scholarship

Deadline: July 1

The Fleming Law Scholarship is available to all first-year law students. Students applying for this award must submit an application an essay in the area of civil litigation or personal injury law while emphasizing why they are the best candidate for the award. You must be a US citizen or permanent resident to apply.

The General Counsel, P.C. First-Generation Law Student Scholarship

Amount: $1,500

Deadline: October 31

This scholarship is available to second-year law students currently attending an accredited U.S. law school. The minimum GPA requirement is 3.0. You must be U.S. citizens or permanent residents. Only the first 50 applications will be considered due to the time required to review them.

“For the People” Scholarship by Morgan & Morgan

Deadline: December 1

Morgan & Morgan awards an annual scholarship for students entering or currently enrolled in an ABA- or AALS-accredit law school. They pay scholarships directly to the law school and require applicants to submit an essay on the meaning of “For the People.” Students must be permanent or legal citizens of the United States.

Legal Scholarships by Moses and Rooth, Attorneys at Law

Deadline: May 31

Students going into their first year of law school with a GPA of 3.0 or better are eligible to apply. Funds are released for the following year. Applicants must also be a legal US resident. You must also submit an introduction and short essay about how you plan to use your law degree.

NW Corporate Law Scholarship

Deadline: October 1

Second- or third-year law school students are eligible to apply for the NW Corporate Law Scholarship. You must be currently enrolled in an ABA-accredited program. Funds are paid directly to the student for any law school-related expenses. An essay, application, and school transcripts are required with the submission.

The Patrick Malone & Associates Scholarship

This award is for students who want to impact the lives of people who need it most. If you are pursuing a degree in family, employment, personal injury, elder, or public interest law, Patrick Malone & Associates encourages first-year law students to apply with a personal essay and other qualifying documents for consideration.

The O’Connor, Runckel, & O’Malley Law Scholarship Program

Deadline: July 15

U.S. citizens currently attending school full-time at an accredited legal education institution can apply for this scholarship. You must possess a 3.0 GPA or better. The funding law firm requests that you provide your proof of citizenship, proof of acceptance, school transcripts, and a completed application to be eligible.

The Entertainment Law Initiative

Amount: $10,000 plus benefits

Deadline: January 2

The Recording Academy is accepting submissions for promising lawsuits to participate in their annual writing competition. They want to hear from thought leaders regarding compelling research as it applies to the entertainment industry from a legal standpoint. The contest is open to LLM or JD candidates enrolled in an ABA-accredited program.

The Baker Donelson Diversity Scholarship

Each year, Baker Donelson offers three scholarships to law school students with a diverse background. They can use the money to offset the cost of pursuing a Juris Doctor program. In addition to a scholarship, winners will also receive a salaried summer associate position after their second year in legal studies.

The Buckfire & Buckfire, P.C. Law School Diversity Scholarship Program

Amount: $2,000

As part of Buckfire & Buckfire’s commitment to legal education, they provide this annual scholarship to one student. He or she must be a US citizen currently enrolled in law school and be a member of a protected class. A 3.0 GPA is required along with a completed application, short essay, and a copy of your law school transcripts.

The Mark T. Banner Scholarship

Deadline: December 6

For scholars who wish to pursue a career in intellectual property (IP) law, the Mark T. Banner Scholarship is available to currently enrolled law school students. The application process involves completing the required forms, a resume, school transcripts, and a three-page essay on ethics and how diversity impacts the applicant’s life.

The Sons of Italy Foundation

Amount: Up to $25,000

Deadline: February 28

Full-time law school students with Italian descent can apply for the Sons of Italy Foundation. Along with the application form, students must submit their college transcript and a non-refundable fee of $35. The fee also includes membership with OSDIA that offers at-large membership benefits.

The Zelle Diversity in Law Scholarship

Amount: Up to $30,000

The Zelle Diversity in Law Scholarship is one of the largest law school scholarships offered in the US. There are several programs under which you can apply, including minority corporate counsel scholarships and the “Just the Beginning” foundation pipeline initiative. Scholarships are available to first-year law students as a one-time award or as a fellowship for each year of law school.

The LL.M. Essay and Theses Series provides access to the theses and essays completed by LL.M. candidates at Columbia Law School. The LL.M. Essay is a substantial and rigorous piece of legal writing based on research on a topic approved in advance by a faculty member who has agreed to act as Faculty Supervisor.

• 7Sage 7K Law School Scholarship — $7,000 scholarship opportunity for pre-law and incoming 1L students. Winner is selected based on response to two short essay prompts.
• ABA Legal Opportunity Scholarship Fund   — Grants 10 to 20 incoming diverse law students with $15,000 of financial assistance over the course of their three years in law school.
• American Indian College Fund  — Hundreds of scholarships are available for all areas of study under the Full Circle Scholarship Program. Students attending tribal colleges and universities can receive additional scholarship support with the program. Any Native American U.S. citizen who is an enrolled member or a descendant of an enrolled member of a state or federally recognized tribe may apply.

• BARBRI Law Preview’s “One Lawyer Can Change the World” Scholarship  — $10,000 scholarship opportunity for incoming 1L students. Winner is selected based on response to an essay prompt.
• Blueprint LSAT Law School Scholarship  — $20,000 scholarship for undergraduate students planning to take the LSAT. No essay or purchase required.
• The Gates Scholarship  — A highly selective, full scholarship for exceptional minority high school seniors from low-income households.
• Harness IP’s Diversity & Inclusion Fellowship  — Provides diverse, first- and second-year law students with career mentoring and financial assistance as they explore their interest in intellectual property law.
• LGBT Public Interest Scholarship Program  — Scholarship of up to $5,000 for law students and/or law school graduates studying for the bar exam who either identify as LGBTQ+ or plan to pursue public interest work in the LGBTQ+ space. Sponsored by the ABA Sexual Orientation and Gender Identity Commission.
• The LSAT Nerds Scholarship Fund  — Provides recipients with one-on-one LSAT tutoring, access to The LSAT Nerds’ comprehensive curriculum, several small group workshops each week, and a wide array of application resources covering every aspect of the admission process.
• Marshall-Motley Scholars Program (MMSP)  — Named for civil rights pioneers Thurgood Marshall and Constance Baker Motley, this program provides full financial support for all law school expenses and long-term career and leadership opportunities to 50 aspiring civil rights lawyers over the next five years. You can learn more about the program in  LSAC’s MMSP webinar .
• Mexican American Legal Defense and Educational Fund (MALDEF)   — Supports law students who seek to further MALDEF’s mission of advancing the civil rights of the Latino community in the United States through the legal profession. In recent years, MALDEF has annually awarded 5 to 15 scholarships of $2,000 to $10,000 each to deserving law students from throughout the nation.
• NAACP Legal Defense and Educational Fund, Inc.   — Has provided over $19 million in financial support to undergraduates and law students, making it possible for hundreds of highly qualified students to attend the nation’s most competitive colleges, universities, and law schools.
• Pipeline to Practice Foundation  — The Pipeline to Practice Foundation is committed to enhancing diversity in the legal profession by supporting diverse law students and early career attorneys at key stages of their academic and professional development. The Foundation seeks to remove financial barriers to opportunity and success by offering entering law students free access to programming, mentors, and resources throughout their academic and professional careers.
• Sarita and Claire Wright Lucas Foundation — Awards $5,000 scholarships to African-American female law students who have committed to careers as prosecutors. For these future prosecutors, the scholarship program covers the cost of the bar application and preparation up to $5,000. The scholarship program also offers a $5,000 incentive for scholarship recipients who secure employment as prosecutors.
• The Sidney B. Williams, Jr. Scholar Program   — The Scholar Program of the  Foundation for the Advancement of Diversity in IP Law  provides financial and other support for racially and ethnically diverse, STEM education students interested in exploring a career in patent law. Scholars are eligible for consideration to receive a three-year tuition grant award of $10,000 per year.
• United Negro College Fund (UNCF)  — For more than seven decades, UNCF has raised more than $5 billion to help more than 500,000 students attend college, graduate, and become leaders.
• Weil Legal Innovators (WLI) Program — Engages rising law school students in addressing some of today's most pressing social and legal challenges. Innovators defer their first year of law school to work at a WLI partner nonprofit organization for a paid public service fellowship.
• Zelle Diversity In Law Scholarship   — Created for law students who either (1) are a member of a population or group whose background and perspectives are historically underrepresented in the private practice of law, or (2) demonstrate a long-standing commitment to diversity that will be furthered by award of the scholarship.

The American Bar Association Legal Opportunity Scholarship aims to support racially and ethnically diverse law students with demonstrated financial need. However, you must also meet the 2.3 GPA minimum to be considered. This scholarship will help you pay for law school only at an ABA-accredited law school . You must also be entering your first year and identify as a racial minority. The American Bar Association has an online application where you can submit a law school personal statement , at least two law school letters of recommendation , and a financial information form.

• Applicant Criteria: First-year law students; applicants to the University of Washington School of Law JD program

Named after the father of Bill Gates, an alumnus of UWashington, the Gates Public Service Law Scholarship is a prestigious scholarship program designed for first-year law students entering the JD program at the University of Washington School of Law (the scholarship is not available for any other school). This is an essay-based scholarship, as you do not have to supply transcripts or have a minimum GPA. Instead, you have to supply a law school cover letter explaining why you want to apply to the scholarship, and a law school resume outlining your work in the field of public interest law, social justice or community service work. This scholarship covers full tuition and fees for three years, enabling you to pursue your legal education without financial constraints. But the scholarship comes with responsibilities. If you are awarded the scholarship, you will be required to attend an annual summer retreat, attend workshops specifically for Gates scholars’ and participate in two internships within the realm of public interest.

3. NAACP Legal Defense Fund Earl Warren Scholarship

• Award Amount: $15,000/year
• Application Requirements: Letters of recommendation; accepted into an accredited program; letters of recommendation; transcripts; essays; FAFSA application; LSAT scores
• Applicant Criteria: First- or second-year law students; US citizens; interest in public service and civil rights

The NAACP Legal Defense Fund Earl Warren Scholarship recognizes the achievements and potential of law students who are members of underrepresented racial or ethnic groups and are committed to public interest law. This scholarship awards $15,000 every year to selected recipients, so long as you maintain a good academic record, which makes it one of the most lucrative law school scholarships. You must submit your transcripts, acceptance letter to an accredited law school in the US, and write essays and a personal statement. You must also submit your latest LSAT scores , but you can also submit GRE scores . The scholarship is also based on financial need, which you show by submitting a completed FAFSA application for federal student loans.

4. Skadden Fellowship Program

• Award Amount: Full salary and benefits for a two-year public interest project
• Application Requirements: Letters of recommendation; personal statement; essays; transcripts; letter of intent
• Applicant Criteria: Law school graduates; international students and US citizens accepted; pursuing a career in public interest

The Skadden Fellowship Program offers a unique opportunity for aspiring lawyers committed to public interest law. This fellowship is strictly for law school graduates, so you cannot apply as a law student, but it is something to keep in mind if you are interested in pursuing public interest law after law school.

The way the Fellowship works is that you choose a non-profit organization for which you want to pursue research or work experience in public interest law. You then submit an application consisting of various application materials, such as a law school letter of intent from your host organization; two letters of recommendation; your transcripts and any law school addendums that highlight your work in public or community service.

5. Mexican American Legal Defense and Educational Fund (MALDEF) Law School Scholarship Program

• Award Amount: $2,000 to $10,000
• Application Requirements: Resume; letters of recommendation; career plans statement; personal statement; transcripts
• Applicant Criteria: First-year law students; US citizens; involvement in advancing civil rights for Latinos; financial need

The MALDEF Law School Scholarship Program supports law students of all races who are dedicated to advancing the civil rights of the Latino community. You do not have to have Latino heritage to apply, but students with Latino backgrounds are preferred. Your service work for the Latino community matters more than you race, so you should apply only if you have an extensive record of law school extracurriculars dealing with promoting legal rights for Latinos. You must also submit a short career plans statement explaining how you plan to use your legal education to advance civil rights for Latinos.

6. Hogan/Smoger Access to Justice Essay Contest

Award Amount: $5,000

• Application Requirements: 2,000-to-6,000-word essay
• Applicant Criteria: Current students or law school graduates

The Hogan/Smoger Access to Justice Essay Contest is an opportunity for law students with various law degree types from the JD to graduate-level LL.M degrees. This scholarship lets you showcase your legal writing skills while addressing important issues related to access to justice. By submitting an essay on a specific law school essay prompt you have the chance to win a $5,000 scholarship. You can submit a paper written by yourself or co-authored with another law student.

7. Thurgood Marshall College Fund/Apple HBCU Scholars Program

• Award Amount: Up to $25,000
• Application Requirements: Completed application form; financial statement; essays; letters of recommendation
• Applicant Criteria: Three years to graduate; must attend an HBCU

The Thurgood Marshall College Fund/Apple HBCU Scholars Program supports students attending Historically Black Colleges or Universities (HBCUs). While the scholarship is sponsored by Apple, you do not have to be a STEM student to be considered, although STEM students are preferred. The scholarship is open to anyone (undergraduate or graduate) who is scheduled to graduate within a certain time period, so you can apply if you’re a law student at any of the six HBCU law schools in the US (freshmen are ineligible to apply). This scholarship provides financial assistance of up to $25,000 to help students achieve their educational and career goals. You’ll also be expected to participate in seminars at Apple headquarters in California and remain in good academic standing throughout your academic career.

8. LGBT Public Interest Scholarship Program

• Application Requirements: Law school transcript; personal statement; resume; letters of recommendation
• Applicant Criteria: Junior or senior law students; recent law school graduates; LGBTQ+ members or anyone who works towards LGBTQ+ rights

The LGBTQ+ Public Interest Scholarship Program recognizes law students or recent graduates who are dedicated to advancing LGBTQ+ rights. The scholarship is open to both LGBTQ+ applicants or those who work closely with organizations who support and advocate for the LGBTQ+ community. This scholarship awards $5,000 to selected recipients, who can either be junior or senior law school students, or recent law school graduates who are still studying for the bar exam. Another requirement is being enrolled into a summer internship program with a legal organization dedicated to advancing the legal rights of LGBTQ+ individuals.

9. The Marshall-Motley Scholars Program

• Application Requirements: Law school transcripts; essays; letters of recommendation; LSAT/GRE scores; personal statement; recorded video responses to essay prompts
• Applicant Criteria: First-year, full-time, three-year JD program students (no part-time or joint-degree applicants); interested in civil rights law; US citizens only

The Marshall-Motley Scholars Program is a prestigious scholarship opportunity that provides full tuition and fees for three years of law school. But there are responsibilities attached to the program, and you must be willing to practice law as a civil rights lawyer for at least eight years after you graduate. This program is designed for students who have shown a strong dedication to civil rights, social justice, and community engagement. The 7Sage 7K LSAT Scholarship is a prestigious scholarship opportunity offered by the popular law school admissions consulting company, 7Sage. This scholarship awards both financial assistance and free LSAT prep materials, such as a free LSAT prep course and personalized law school application help for the first-place winner. There are also runner-up prizes. Second and third runners up can also win financial assistance ($1,000 for second place) or free LSAT prep resources for third, fourth and fifth runners up.

1. The American Prairie Scholarship

Award Amount: Full tuition

Application Requirements: Application form; letters of recommendation; project proposal; optional essays

Applicant Criteria: Academic focus on land management, wildlife conservation, preservation studies; participation in The Law of People and Place course at the University of Montana

The American Prairie Scholarship is a scholarship program designed for students who are passionate about environmental conservation, wildlife preservation, or sustainable land management. You must also be enrolled as a full-time undergraduate student at the University of Montana programs such as a public administration, social work, journalism, or law. You have to submit a creative project proposal that must “enhance and expand public awareness of natural resource conservation” in Montana and the surrounding regions. You must submit a proposal along with law school optional essays and a law school diversity statement describing how your diverse background will contribute to the scholarship’s project. Indigenous students are preferred but anyone can apply.

2. Harness IP’s Diversity & Inclusion Fellowship

Award Amount: $30,000 for graduate study

Application Requirements: Resume; transcripts; personal statement; letters of reference; legal writing sample

Applicant Criteria: Racial minority; women; people with disabilities; veterans

The Harness IP’s Diversity & Inclusion Fellowship is a prestigious fellowship program that supports law students who are dedicated to promoting diversity and inclusion within the field of intellectual property law. You can apply for this scholarship only if you meet very specific eligibility requirements. You must be enrolled in an ABA-accredited law school, but you must have an undergraduate degree in either engineering, life sciences, chemistry, or computer science. If you don’t have a degree in these subjects, you can also apply if you have significant work experience in copyright or trademark law. This fellowship provides financial support of $10,000 to selected recipients. You must also either identify as a racial minority, LGBTQ+ member, woman, person with a disability or a veteran to qualify. 3. Scrofano Law PC Aspiring Public Defender Scholarship

The Scrofano Law PC Aspiring Public Defender Scholarship recognizes law students who are dedicated to pursuing a career as a public defender and advancing the cause of indigent defense. This scholarship awards $1,500 to selected recipients, providing financial support as they pursue their legal education and prepare to advocate for the rights of the underrepresented. You have to submit directly to the Scrofano Law PC law firm and write a maximum 500-word essay responding to the following prompt: “As a public defender or private criminal defense lawyer, you will often be asked the question: how can you defend people you know are guilty?”

Applicant Criteria: Black woman; soon-to-be law school graduate; offer of employment from a District Attorney’s office

The Sarita and Claire Wright Lucas Foundation sponsors a specific law school scholarships for Black woman will soon graduate law school or who have already graduated law school and are currently studying for the bar exam. You can win a $5,000 scholarship to help you prepare for the bar exam, but you can also receive a $5,000 award if you secure a position with a District Attorney’s office in the US and complete a year of full-time work; the $5,000 will be paid out only if you complete one year at the DA’s office. You must be a Black woman to apply, and submit a resume, essay, and two letters of recommendation.

5. Mike Eidson Law Student Scholarship

Application Requirements: Completed application form; resume; letter in response to specific prompt

Applicant Criteria: American Association for Justice (AAJ) member; enrolled in an ABA-certified law school; female law student in second or third year

The Women Trial Lawyers Caucus of the American Association for Justice (AAJ) recognizes the achievements and potential of female law students who are dedicated to advancing the “concept of a fair trial” and have an interest in pursuing a career as a trial attorney. You must write a letter outlining why you want to pursue a career as a trial attorney and how you have upheld the legal principles of the US Constitution.

6. Association of Corporate Counsel (ACC) Foundation Diversity Scholarship

Application Requirements: Transcripts; LSAT scores; resume; essay

Applicant Criteria: Must be enrolled in a Houston-area law school; be a racial or ethnic minority; first- or second-year law student

The ACC Foundation Diversity Scholarship recognizes law students from diverse backgrounds who have a demonstrated interest in corporate law and who are currently enrolled in any of the three law schools in Houston - South Texas College of Law Houston, Thurgood Marshall School of Law, and the University of Houston Law Center. This scholarship awards 12 different $5,000 awards to selected recipients who are committed to diversity in the legal profession. You must write an essay outlining the contributions you would like to make to the legal profession and to diversity, or those you have already made.

7. National Asian Pacific American Bar Association (NAPABA) Law Foundation Scholarships

Award Amount: $7,500

Application Requirements: Essay; transcripts; letters of recommendation; completed application form

Applicant Criteria: Second-year law students (you can apply as a first-year student); academic achievement (high GPA); volunteering and leadership experiences

There are many NAPABA Law Foundation Scholarships available to laws students who demonstrate a commitment to the Asian Pacific American community. One of these law school scholarships is the SAIL Scholarship (Sharon and Ivan Leadership Scholarship), which provides financial assistance to selected recipients based on their academic achievements, and their contributions to Asian American/Pacific Islander communities. You have to complete an online application by writing a 500-word essay on what experiences have formed your commitment to serve the AAPI community or how you plan to serve the AAPI community as a lawyer.

1. Know the Eligibility and Application Requirements

Almost all of the law school scholarships listed here have very specific requirements (Black woman; attend Houston-area schools; have an interest in civil rights law), so you need to research each scholarship’s requirements carefully. You have to be clear on what the law school scholarship foundation requires, which also extends to the type of application materials you need to submit.

But don’t be put off by what you assume to be scholarship only for specific communities. For example, the American Bar Association’s LGBT Public Interest Scholarship is not only for LGBTQ+ students, but any student who has an interest in practicing public interest law that advocates for LGBTQ+ rights. Similarly, the Marshall-Motley Scholarship is available to non-Black law students, so long as they have a dedicated interest in civil rights law and meet other eligibility criteria, such as being enrolled full-time in a JD program or being a US citizen.

2. Spend a Lot of Time Writing Your Essays

Almost all of these law school scholarships require personal essays centered around the scholarship’s mission, sponsor or specific focus. You might have noticed that very few are merit-based or based on academic achievement alone (only one has a minimum GPA requirement, although your academic achievement is important as well). As such, your personal statement or essay – or video essay for the Marshall-Motley Scholarship – should be your prime focus as you prepare your application. If the law school scholarship asks for a response to a specific prompt, you should focus solely on your thoughts, opinions, research into that prompt and not focus on personal details, unless they relate to the topic.

If you don’t have to respond to a specific prompt or questions, talk about your interest in the law, why do you want to study law , and the experiences and knowledges you’ve gained that will make you an ideal law student and law school scholarship recipient. After you’ve written a few drafts, give them to others to read to make sure that your arguments can be understood.

3. Apply as Early as Possible

Applying for a law school scholarship is a lot like applying to law school, in that you need to be aware of application deadlines as you prepare you materials. But making things even more urgent is that you will have to wait another year to apply again to a scholarship, which could affect your eligibility for that scholarship, especially if they are only for first-year students. You should start looking for scholarships even before you apply to law school, just so you have an idea of what scholarships are available and when you should apply.

Some of these law school scholarships will require you submit an acceptance letter or prove you are enrolled in a full-time program, but you can still apply even if you haven’t been accepted yet. However, if you are not admitted to a law school JD program, your eligibility for law school scholarships can change.

4. Have an Extensive and Sustained List of Community Service Work

Many of these law school scholarships make volunteer and leadership experience an important part of the selection criteria, but these experiences need to be long-term having preferably started during your undergraduate career. Having a long list of law school extracurriculars is an essential part of how to get into law school , but they are also important for getting a law school scholarship, especially if that is part of the requirements.

Of course, not everyone will have a background in engineering or life sciences, as is required by the Thurgood Marshall College Fund/Apple law school scholarship or have extensive experience with civil rights organizations. But you should apply to the law school scholarships that do align with your background and experiences. But even before that you should engage with organizations or causes that are important to you. However, keep in mind that something like “public interest law” covers a lot of areas, so as long as your background is in helping underrepresented or marginalized peoples, you can argue in your law school scholarship essays that these experiences have prepared you for law school and being a lawyer in public interest law.

Law school scholarships are financial awards offered by public and private organizations that can help you pay for law school, or, in some cases, cover all your law school costs, such as tuition, living expenses and academic materials. 

There are thousands of different law school scholarships available to all eligible law students. Many scholarships are divided by eligibility criteria and available only to specific groups so you should review law school scholarships application criteria and requirements carefully. 

You can get a law school scholarship by applying on time, applying to a scholarship that applies to you and your background, writing excellent essays and personal statement, getting great recommendation letters, and having the right volunteering and leadership experiences. 

Every law school scholarship has its own application process; some of these scholarships are available through private law firms and public, non-profit organizations, which control and organize the scholarships, so you have to apply directly to them. Institutional law school scholarships have different application process based on the law school that offers them. 

There are some law school scholarships, such as the Legal Opportunity Scholarship from the ABA that do require you have a minimum GPA, but in general, there are no minimum GPA requirements. However, academic achievement is crucial whether the law school scholarship requires it or not, as you will be asked to submit both your undergraduate and law school transcripts, if you are either a current law student or about to graduate. 

The award amounts for law school scholarships vary. You can get a small award worth only a few thousand dollars to receiving a full-tuition scholarship for the entirety of your law school career. 

Yes, some law school scholarships will only let you apply the award money to your law school studies; if you use it for any other purpose, the law school scholarship then becomes taxable income, which you have to report on your income taxes. Others will credit the amount directly to your law school so you never have access to the money. 

Yes, it can be very hard to get a law school scholarship. Everyone wants to get a scholarship, as law school has become very expensive, but they are very competitive, especially the most lucrative ones. For example, the Marshall-Motley scholarship has a success rate of only 14%, so your application has to be exceptional to ensure you have a chance to get the scholarship.

8 Must-Know Law School Scholarship Tips

What’s better than finally being able to pursue your dream of going to law school? The answer is pursuing your dream of going to law school and receiving a scholarship to do so! Whether you’re planning to pursue a career in public interest, have a family to support while in school, or simply have other things you’d rather spend your hard-earned money on than tuition, then knowing how to solicit and negotiate a law school scholarship offer is critical.

Here’s what you need to know!

1. The early bird gets the… money.

Every school’s scholarship structure is different. However, it’s universally true that if you apply early you give yourself the best chances of admission AND a scholarship. Many schools are capped on the amount of scholarship money they can award to students. With a finite pool of funding, you want to be sure that you get your application in early in order to receive consideration for all possible funding opportunities. Set yourself up for financial success by applying early.

2. Do the math.

Sounds simple but some law school scholarship offers can be confusing (or even un/intentionally misleading). Law school scholarships often come in one of two forms. The first is a percentage (i.e. a 75% tuition scholarship). The other is an exact number (i.e., $40,000 a year). While one may sound better than the other, DO THE MATH. Figure out what the scholarship amounts to and the difference left over that you would be responsible to pay.

A $40,000 scholarship will not go as far at a costly private school in a city with a high cost of living as it would at a public state-school in the Midwest. Ultimately, you need to know not just what you’ve been given but how much you’ll be expected to pay at the end of the day.

3. Know whether your scholarship is secure for your second and third year.

A large scholarship offer is wonderful and exciting. You should feel very proud that your hard work is paying off. But is it too good to be true? Be sure to get the details on whether the scholarship is guaranteed for all three years of your program or if there are conditions to renewal. A $20,000 a year law school scholarship that is guaranteed for all three years may ultimately be a better option than a $35,000 scholarship that you may lose in your second and third year.

Be sure to do your research and find out what the scholarship offer means for your second and third year as well.

Is the scholarship for one year or guaranteed for all three years? Is there a specific GPA you must have in order to retain your scholarship? If so, what is the scholarship retention rate (the rate at which students keep their scholarships from 1L to 2L and 2L to 3L year). Is there the chance to earn your scholarship back if you lose it? These are all important questions that should play a critical role in your decision-making process.

  4. Negotiate your offers.

For better or worse, negotiating law school scholarships is a reality of today’s admissions process. Some schools openly negotiate with students and even expect it when they make you an initial offer. Other schools have a strict policy of no negotiations. Know what the policy of the schools you are considering and set your expectations accordingly.

Save offer letters and get any additional offer in writing. If you have a phone conversation with a law school representative offering you scholarships, follow-up in writing to memorialize the offer. Send other schools your competing offer letters and ask if they’ll be able to match it. It may be an uncomfortable conversation for you but you won’t get anything if you don’t simply ask.

5. Know your “number.”

If there’s a specific amount of law school scholarship support you need in order to attend a school, figure that out! Know exactly what it will take to cover the cost of attendance. This includes tuition, books, fees, room and board, transportation and personal expenses. Share this with admissions officers and explain the breakdown of where you need to be in order to be able to attend their school. They’ll know you’re serious about attending their school since you’ve done your research and can precisely demonstrate your need. Abstractly trying to receive as much funding as possible is not a compelling argument as to why extra funding should go to you instead of someone else.

6. Understand admissions timelines.

If money for an admissions office is tight and it’s “late” in the admissions season (spring into summer), it’s possible that a school can’t give any additional funding until it’s been released back into a funding pool by other students. This means that law school scholarship funding currently committed to other students may be released when those students notify the school they are no longer interested in attending. That money can then be reallocated to others.

Make your request for more scholarship money a few weeks or a month before your first seat deposits are due. When the deposit deadline passes and students who were previously awarded scholarship do not submit a deposit to otherwise secure their seat, that money may become available again.

7. Be professional.

Conduct yourself with integrity and treat the admissions officers with respect. Admissions and financial aid representatives are usually willing to work with you but their hands may be tied. Keep in mind that if you become a thorn in their side, they may be less likely to offer you additional funding even when it becomes available. If you’re difficult to work with as a law school applicant, it doesn’t bode well with how you’ll conduct yourself while in school and in the legal profession.

8. Apply for private scholarships.

Often law school scholarships fall into two categories: merit-based awards and private funding. The merit-based awards will be granted to you based on the contents of your application. Privately funded scholarships, however, are only open to admitted students. In addition,  they often require a separate application or short essay from you. Don’t ignore additional money simply because you don’t want to write additional essays as to why you are deserving of it. Too many students think it’s too much of hassle to write additional essays. Consequently, the pool of competition for private funding tends to be smaller.

At the end of the day, you are entering into a profession that conducts itself with the highest ethics and integrity. Remember this when applying to law school and negotiating scholarships. It might feel great to have received large offers from multiple institutions. However, if you have no intention of attending a particular school, don’t needlessly engage in negotiations.  Keep in mind that any scholarship given to you is money taken away from a deserving student who may really need the extra help in order to attend their dream school.

Begin with dialogue

First, you could begin your essay with conversation. This can be an interesting and unexpected way to start your scholarship essay. Maybe someone asked you an unexpected question? Perhaps you were having an interesting conversation with a friend or family member? Either way, dialogue can be a powerful tool to start your essay.

Put the reader in your shoes.

Alternatively, you can choose to start your essay by placing the reader right in your shoes and show them something from your life. Appeal to the senses and show the reader what you see, hear, smell, or taste. These specific details will help your essay come to life and make it even more memorable.

Scholarship essay introduction example

Next,  we’ll look at a specific example of how you can open up your essay. Let’s say you are applying for the Questbridge scholarship program . One of the essays that you will be asked is:

We are interested in learning more about you and the context in which you have grown up, formed your aspirations, and accomplished your academic successes. Please describe the factors and challenges that have most influenced you. How are they shaping your future aspirations?

You might be tempted to rephrase the question and start your essay with something like:

“I have grown up in a rural context and this has formed my aspirations and allowed me to accomplish academic success…”

This is generic and will not engage your reader at all. 

Instead, what if you started off your essay with something like this:

“I look outside my bedroom window and see Henry, my favorite chicken, pecking at something in the dirt.” 

Makes a big difference, right? As a reader, you are probably wondering: why does this person have chickens outside their bedroom window? Why did they name this particular chicken Henry?

Keep the ending of your essay in mind as you write the opening

While crafting your opening, be open to ideas about how to close your essay. There is no need to stress about the ending now, but being mindful of effective ways to end an essay is always a good idea. Say you are opening your scholarship essay with Henry the chicken. Is there a way for Henry to make an impactful appearance at the end of the essay to close things out in a way that perfectly wraps everything up? The key is for the essay ending to be meaningful and memorable for the reader.

If you can’t think of a “wow” scholarship essay beginning, keep writing!

Sometimes, we know what we want to say, point by point, but we are not ready to be creative when it comes to opening an essay. In that case, keep writing! There is always the option of going back and crafting an engaging opening after your essay is written. Simply write your main idea where the first paragraph would be to guide you as you write. After, go back when your creative juices are flowing, and craft the amazing opening (and closing) that your scholarship essay deserves!

Legal Scholarship

There are law schools that may hire professors primarily on the promise of excellent teaching, but for most law schools the quality of potential scholarship is a decisive factor. At the majority of schools, the single most important factor in obtaining a tenure-track academic law teaching position is demonstrated scholarly achievement—that is, writing. Most successful candidates have published at least one law review article and have, in addition, at least one completed manuscript (their job talk paper). Many have more publications and/or works in progress. The amount of writing an applicant is expected to have completed in fact varies widely among law schools hiring entry-level professors.

If you are thinking of becoming a law professor, you must be comfortable with writing. Teaching is an important part of the job, but to get tenure at most institutions you will have to produce scholarship. At many schools, writing is at least half the job of being a law professor. Writing must be something for which you are prepared to devote a significant portion of your life.

In developing a portfolio of legal scholarship, quality matters, not just quantity. You should publish papers only after you have vetted them with peers and academic mentors. A long list of publications may be attractive initially, but in the end most institutions will make appointment decisions based upon on the quality (not simply the quantity) of your work. The appointments process makes ample allowance for those learning to write, but nonetheless probes early scholarship for evidence of analytic rigor, creativity, accuracy in reporting facts and law, and other indicia of academic excellence.

Law teaching candidates typically have not only a portfolio of scholarship, but also a scholarly agenda—a set of questions, issues, or problems they hope to explore in the next three to five years. These may be linked by common concerns, methodologies, or themes. If you are having trouble identifying topics for writing, you might begin by thinking about your paper topics in law school; issues you have encountered in practice; legal questions about which you have always been curious; or a problem or inconsistency in the law that you think important to understand. Can you identify questions that you find intellectually exciting and that matter to the development of law?

• Essays must be unique (not submitted elsewhere) and written by the scholarship application signator.
• All submissions should be in English.
• Only one submission per student will be considered.

Scholarship selection process

Judges will examine all entries received by the deadline above. Entries will be judged on argument presented as well as reader-friendliness for online audiences. The winner will be selected and notified up to 6 weeks after the submission deadline. One winner will be awarded the scholarship amount, and notable entries will also be published on the  Neal Davis Law website . Check will be sent directly to the winner’s college.

Guidelines and tips from the judges

The judges, who read thousands of essays, have provided some key tips that will help you write a high quality essay.

• Answer the question. Submissions that don’t answer the question will be disqualified.
• Be transparent about your use of AI. When submitting your work, make sure to  disclose that you used AI to generate content, and provide the prompts you used to generate that content . This ensures that your work is ethical and honest.
• Use AI to generate ideas and inspiration, not as a replacement for your own writing. AI should not be used to generate entire essays or papers without your own input.
• Carefully consider your prompt and the goals of your writing assignment. Generate prompts that are specific and targeted, which will result in more relevant and useful content.
• Use a variety of prompts to ensure that you are exploring different perspectives and ideas. This will help you generate more well-rounded and nuanced content.
• Remember that AI-generated content is  not a substitute for your own critical thinking  and analysis. Use AI as a tool to help you generate ideas and inspiration, but make sure to carefully  evaluate and edit the content generated by the AI  to ensure that it meets the requirements of your writing assignment.
• Cite any sources and citations used, including the AI prompts.  This ensures that your work is well-researched, accurate, and supported by credible sources.
• Use paragraphs and white space to separate your ideas.
• Come close to the word count requirement. Essays with a count of 50 words below or above the requirement will be disqualified.
• Use a tool like Grammarly to check your work. Free versions are often available.
• Read your essay out loud. If it sounds good to you, it will sound good to the judges.
• Submit your essay as a Word document. Other formats will be disqualified.

Philadelphia Injury Lawyers P.C . are known for obtaining judgments for victims of personal injury cases. We want to help the future generation of Philadelphia personal injury lawyers with their education expenses by offering an annual $500 scholarship. The scholarship will be based on an essay competition with a topic focused on personal injury.

Qualifications

This Scholarship is open to both graduate/law students and undergraduate students seeking to go to law school in the future. All applicants must be enrolled in a U.S. undergraduate or graduate-level program.

Professors’ Scholarship Among 10 Best Corporate Law Articles of the Year

University of Virginia School of Law professors Kristen Eichensehr and Cathy Hwang’s paper analyzing the growing role of national security in corporate transactions has been named one of the top 10 corporate and securities law articles of 2023.               

In a poll conducted for Corporate Practice Commentator, Eichensehr and Hwang’s fellow academics chose the paper “ National Security Creep in Corporate Transactions ” from among more than 400 entries, marking the fifth time Hwang’s papers have been lauded by this poll. Hwang is among the top five authors recognized in the poll over the past five years.

The paper, published in the Columbia Law Review, discusses the expanded government review of cross-border investments for potential national security issues. Some of that “creep” has been driven by the Committee on Foreign Investment in the United States, an interagency committee in the executive branch that reviews foreign investment in the U.S. for national security concerns.

“Historically, CFIUS reviewed a small number of deals a year, ordering mitigation measures in deals with obvious national security implications, such as foreign government-controlled investments in U.S. defense contractors,” Eichensehr and Hwang write. “In recent years, however, it has reviewed hundreds of transactions a year, blocked several, and, via presidential order, ordered deals to be unwound after they have closed.”

For example, the federal government has ordered a Chinese company to unwind its acquisition of the data app Grindr, blocked a joint venture between a U.S. robotics company and its Chinese partner, and barred U.S. entities from investing in companies linked to China’s military and surveillance industry.

Eichensehr and Hwang presented their paper at the  2022 Harvard/Yale/Stanford Junior Faculty Forum .

Corporate Practice Commentator is a set of journals featuring articles written on all aspects of corporate law. The articles poll began in 1994. Past polls have also recognized Professors Michal Barzuza , Quinn Curtis , George S. Geis , Edmund W. Kitch and Paul G. Mahoney .

Eichensehr directs the  National Security Law Center and is a senior fellow at the Miller Center. She writes and teaches about cybersecurity, foreign relations, international law and national security law.

Hwang is the Barron F. Black Research Professor of Law. Her research and teaching focus on business law, including mergers and acquisitions, corporate contracts and corporate governance.

The same poll recognized four other articles by Hwang as among the top 10 over the years: “ Cleaning Corporate Governance ” in 2022 , “ Shadow Governance ”  in 2021 , “ Deal Momentum ” in 2018 and “ Unbundled Bargains: Multi-Agreement Dealmaking in Complex Mergers and Acquisitions ” in 2017.

The scholarship application process can be rigorous, but one organization is doing away with the typical requirements. All of them.

The Taco Bell Foundation recently announced it is awarding up to $7 million in Live Más Scholarships to 1,000 passion-driven students without their grades, an essay or test scores having to be considered.

Most scholarship applications require some form of an essay submission, which on average can take 2-5 hours to complete.

The Taco Bell Foundation’s opportunity is open to students aged 16-26 nationwide, and only require them to highlight their passion and educational aspirations through a two-minute video, per a news release . The scholarships range from $5,000 to $25,000 per recipient.

“The Live Más Scholarship cultivates a passionate community of diverse individuals united by their shared commitment to breaking down barriers for the causes they believe in,” said Jennifer Bradbury, Executive Director of the Taco Bell Foundation in a news release. “The unwavering passion exhibited by these students never ceases to amaze us. We provide them with pathways to access new opportunities and resources, empowering them to create the change they envision.”

The Impact of Professional Scholarship Essay Writing Services on Academic Success

I t’s hard to overestimate the usefulness of writing services for someone who needs a good essay for a scholarship application. At the same time, there are some concerns about the probable negative impact of writing services on academic success. Let’s consider both the potential negative and positive impact of a scholarship essay writing service to decide what’s stronger.

One of the most widespread concerns about the impact of essay writing services is the ethical side of use. Evidently, it is improper if people will provide someone’s work as their own. Even though such concern cannot be called groundless, it’s a matter of choice. Writing service is a tool, and it’s only the customer's choice how to use it. A person can buy a knife to cut fruits and vegetables or to take someone's life. This is not about the tool but about the ethics and decisions of the particular person who uses the tool.  

Another concern is related to the dependency. As you can see, although the concerns about writing services aren’t baseless, they’re more about the weakness of human nature than about the negative impact of writing services themselves. People who can act unethically will find their way with or without writing services. And if a person has trouble managing money it will be evident from the different aspects of life, not only the use of writing services. You can be careful using writing services, but not more careful than with anything else in life. 

Except for the concerns considered above, writing services can also positively impact academic success when used properly. A person who needs to write a scholarship essay often faces the problem of procrastination and blank page syndrome. In such a case, help from a writing service can be incredibly useful to overcome the problems. A person can use the paper from the writing service as an example to follow or, in contrast, decide that everything must be written differently. Most importantly, one will start working on the scholarship essay instead of waiting for inspiration or being lost in anxiety. 

• The positive impact on mental health comes from the previous advantage. Applying for the scholarship is a stressful process. A person is concerned about all the papers that must be gathered and forms to be filled out in the proper way, about the future if the scholarship will be obtained, and about the development of the events if not. Writing services that provide personalized examples of scholarship essays can help reduce stress and anxiety and, hence, have at least a small positive impact on mental health. 
• Expert guidance can be crucial for a person who needs a scholarship. Yes, you can find free examples of scholarship essays on the web, but you might not be sure which is most suitable for your particular case. Writing services have professionals who often write scholarship essays and know their specifics. In addition, a personalized example is the most useful one to understand what and how you can write to succeed. 
• Time management is the last but not the least point in this list. Writing services have short deadlines of just a few hours, which allows a person to get a ready example on the same day it was ordered. This saves time that a person might spend reading and understanding the nuances of the scholarship essay. Instead of that, one can take this time for other no less essential papers or activities related to getting a scholarship.

Final words

As one can see, scholarship essay writing services can potentially negatively and positively impact academic success. Such services can be a powerful tool to save time, avoid stress, and get a well-written personalized example of a scholarship essay. However, as well as in the case of any tool, it must be used wisely and ethically. 

2 Desoto County students honored with Law Enforcement Scholarship

SARASOTA, Fla. (WWSB) -On May 9th, Marshal Jones of the Arcadia Police Department had the honor in presenting Harley Cross and Michelle Meridia with the Arcadia Police Departments’ Field-Waller Scholarship.

This scholarship was named after our two late Sergeants Philip Field and Michael Waller who are no longer with us.

These two men were profound members of the department, and they both served Arcaida.

The Arcadia Police Department hopes this will help these students as they continue their education, and the scholarship allows these two fallen officers to continue helping their community.
