Reported Speech – Ejercicio de acceso libre

Escribe las oraciones siguientes en estilo indirecto. Presta atención a la adaptación de los pronombres y de las referencias espaciales y temporales.

• Two weeks ago, he said, “I visited this museum last week.” → Two weeks ago, he said that   . I → he|past simple → past perfect|this → that|last …→ the … before Hace dos semanas dijo: «Visité este museo la semana pasada». → Hace dos semanas dijo que había visitado ese museo la semana anterior.

Reformula las preguntas siguientes en estilo indirecto.

• She asked, “What did he say?” → She asked   . El sujeto va directamente detrás del pronombre interrogativo.|past simple → past perfect Preguntó: «¿Qué dijo?» → Preguntó qué había dicho.
• He asked her, “Do you want to dance?” → He asked her   . El sujeto va directamente detrás de whether/if |you → she|present simple → past simple Le preguntó: «¿Quieres bailar?» → Le preguntó si quería bailar.
• I asked him, “How old are you?” → I asked him   . El sujeto va directamente detrás del pronombre interrogativo + el adjetivo correspondiente ( how old )| you→ he|present simple → past simple Le pregunté: «¿Qué edad tienes?» → Le pregunté qué edad tenía.
• The tourists asked me, “Can you show us the way?” → The tourists asked me   . El sujeto va directamente detrás de whether/if | you→ I|us→ them Los turistas me preguntaron: «¿Puede indicarnos el camino?» → Los turistas me preguntaron si podía indicarles el camino.
• The shop assistant asked the woman, “Which jacket have you already tried on?” → The shop assistant asked the woman   . ¿Te entran sudores fríos solo de pensar en el reported speech? Don’t worry! El estilo indirecto en inglés suele dar problemas a los estudiantes hispanohablantes, pero dominarlo es más sencillo de lo que parece. Hoy vamos a dar un repaso a las claves del reported speech con algunos ejercicios sencillos para practicar.

Las soluciones están al final del artículo, pero ¡no vale mirar antes de tiempo!

Si quieres refrescar la memoria antes de empezar, echa un vistazo a este resumen:

El reported speech parece muy complicado pero pasar una frase de estilo directo a indirecto solo requiere tres pasos:

• Identifica los verbos y pásalos a un tiempo verbal pasado . Si esto aún te resulta un poco confuso, repasa utilizando los artículos que encontrarás al final de esta sección.
• Identifica los verbos modales y pásalos a su forma pasada . No todos los verbos modales tienen forma pasada y en ocasiones tendrás que sustituirlos por otro verbo.
• Identifica las expresiones de tiempo y, de nuevo, cámbialas por una forma pasada.

2) Pasa estas frases a estilo indirecto

¡Ha llegado el momento de ver cómo lo has hecho! Nota: en el segundo ejercicio, las palabras con paréntesis son opcionales. En aquellos casos en los que ves varias opciones separadas con barras, ambas opciones son correctas: Sarah asked me whether I had been to Paris before or Sarah asked if I had been to Pais before.

📝 Entiende el Reported Speech

1. Recuerda que en el Reported Speech debes cambiar los verbos y pronombres de acuerdo a la persona que habla y la persona sobre la que se está hablando. Por ejemplo, si alguien dice «I am happy», en Reported Speech se diría «He/She said he/she was happy».

2. Asegúrate de cambiar los tiempos verbales adecuadamente. Si estás reportando algo que sucedió en el pasado, debes cambiar los tiempos verbales a uno pasado. Por ejemplo, si alguien dice «I will go to the party», en Reported Speech se diría «He/She said he/she would go to the party».

3. Recuerda utilizar palabras de introducción como «he/she said», «they told me» o «I heard» al inicio de la oración en Reported Speech para indicar que estás reportando lo que alguien más dijo. Por ejemplo, «He said, ‘I am tired'» se convierte en «He said he was tired».
