Current higher end 3 way options

I kept up to date with everything car audio from the early 90’s when I was old enough to drive, going as far as building a system and competing in NW IASCA competitions in 96 and 97, then worked as a shop manager and installer until 2009 when I changed careers and haven’t kept up to date too much since then on what’s changed. I’m starting to collect equipment for a new system for my new truck, and will be doing a tweet/3” setup in the A-pillars along with a couple 6.5” or larger mid-woofers in modified lower door panels, along with a couple subs in back. Probably a 4 channel for the pillars and a larger 2 channel for the doors plus the sub amp. Over the last 8 or 9 years, the only “higher end” speakers I’ve installed have been a couple sets of the Hertz Mille Legend 1650.3 and a Mille Pro 3 way plus a couple Pro two way sets. I’ve always been super impressed with the midbass that the Hertz speakers produce, and I like the Legend stuff having just finished a buddies truck using the tweeters and woofers from a 1650.3 set, along with the crossovers, 3”mids and 6.5” woofers from the Mille Pro 3 way set, mounting the tweets and 3’s in a-pillar pods and powering them at 125w per side from half of a Hertz Mille Pro 4 amp, using the 3 way crossovers from the 3 way set, and both 6.5” pairs in the front doors running off the rear channels at 250w 2 ohms. Easily one of the more impressive front stage setups I’ve done as far as imaging and overall output, especially the bass, having used 25 square feet of sound deadening in the front doors alone most people wouldn’t even need the sub. Looking around, I’m curious what people think about the Morel Carbon Elate Pro stuff? I mainly ask because the power handling is higher than most other similar priced lines, with rms ratings of 220, 140 and 200 for the twt, 3.5” and 8.75”. I look at the Utopia stuff for instance, and they say 20w for the tweeters.?. What are some of the favorite high end SQ speakers that people are liking these days, preferably available separately and wouldn’t have issues running from a 150w per channel AP series Zapco, or something similar?

audison thesis speakers

I would also throw the Stereo Integrity components and the Audiofrog GB series in your list as well... Perhaps some stuff from BLAM , Focal Utopia

audison thesis speakers

I think them new audison thesis will be the next big thing. I'm certainly intrigued and them see through cones are dope.

audison thesis speakers

ZR Speaker Labs Dynaudio Esotar Audison thesis JBL Arena Focal Utopia wm Steg MSK MICROPRECISION BRAX ….

I would add JL Audio C7 to that list.

audison thesis speakers

Morel lists their Transient Power Handling as their Max so it's a really big number compared to other manufacturers - plus their large hexatech voice coils dissipate more heat so it's not really an apples to apples comparison to look at the numbers. The Elate Carbons are next level and maybe @Anu2g can chime in as he switched from Hertz ML to Morel and then ultimately SI on his 3 ways...

For speakers, I would recommend Morel, Hertz, Audiofrog, and Ground Zero. They all have great options. For amplification, Zapco is a good option but also take a look at Tru Technology, Audison, SI, and a couple others.

Morel Elate Carbon Pro 63A

www.crutchfield.com

Thanks for the info, and based upon the praise that the Utopia’s get overall on this site plus with my personal experience installing and using their stuff while working in the industry at a shop that sold Focal from 2005 to 2009, I’ve really wanted to try the newer stuff, probably a tweeter / 3.5” combo up top with probably either two pairs of 6.5” or 8” in the doors. The only thing that has me expand guessing is if they will give me the volume I’m hoping for. I guess the 20w RMS rating on the tweeter just told me they probably aren’t the best option for running bigger power. I thought I heard that the Thesis stuff had been discontinued, or was that only some stuff? I had been looking at their speakers and amps for the class a option, but my buddy thought the speakers were no longer being made?

I love my elate carbon 3 ways, I haven’t put much power on them yet, and they still sound fantastic

audison thesis speakers

I’m working on installing the Thesis Voce & Violino combination in my pillars because I’ve heard them in other vehicles and love the way they sound. I am running AD W800NEOs which I also love, but my previous installer swears by Morel Supremo 9” mid bass drivers, and he’s heard them all…

If you are going active I'd be looking at buying individual drivers. Scanspeak, Dynaudio, Seas and SB Acoustics would be my initial recommendations.

you could saw them in B-Audio shop on Saturday.....

Been inside but didn't saw them, what a miss...

The morels you mentioned sounds phenomenal, you don’t have to look past those. Just get a solid install and find a real tuner, that’s where the equipment will shine. Forgot about remote tuning, I listened to a car that got a remote tune before I retuned it the other day, and I’m still laughing. People, save you money and go find a credible tuner.

audison thesis speakers

I've got a Hertz Mille 3 way in my Acura, with JL vxi amps and I'm really happy with it. Sounds great but I also have not tinkered with all the different components that have been mentioned, and it's only my 2nd car with a system in it. Honestly, you mentioned some real quality speakers that I really don't think you'll miss. I went with the components I did largely based on brand quality and liking them on paper and it all worked out.

JL Audio is currently working on a C6 speaker line (per email); they said to make an inquiry after a few months to determine its status for availability and product information.

#1: Accuton Diamond series(only tweeter, midrange, midbass options vary) #2: ZR Labs Extravagance series #3: MP Z-Studio series Optional: can switch out the tweeter for zr labs and mpz z studio with Focal Ultima or Accuton diamond tweeter(not utopia) to give them better rating, but still under the accuton diamond, due to the Accuton diamond tweeter/midrange combo surpassing everything. This is the best of the best in Car audio as far as SQ goes.

Funky Pup

I honestly would love to see a Funky Pup three way set created for the sake of pure hilarity

They are still around and 2023 is going to get real niche.. The current 5.6 and 8.6 series are phenomenal Both in build quality and sound quality..

My local dealer/installer is all about Audison/ Hertz. And I am well aware of their quality. When I upgrade my full range sometime in the future I am sure he will try to push it on me. It seems even Audison's entry level products are still quite pricey. Just wondering if it is really worth the money. I just bought the Audison Bit Ten DSP from him but have not had it installed yet, waiting for my subs and box to arrive. Click to read more...

Depends on what your comparing to.

Invisible cereal.

Depends on what equipment you're looking at as well. You also have to consider that Hertz is mostly only sold through local dealers and is usually a lot more expensive than online shopping. But, I personally don't feel their comps are worth the price except for the Mille. Their subs are decent, but I wouldnt buy one new. As far as their amps, unless I find a good deal on one, I'll never own one. Just cant justify the price on their stuff. Pretty nice stuff just pricey. Same way I see JL Audio, very nice stuff but, only things, off the top of my head, that I could see myself buying new (online prices) are the C2 Comps and the w6v2 subs.

I believe it comes down to personal preference. If your goal is to run a gazillion watts to a couple of 18's to make some noise, Audison is probably not for you. If you are looking for good SQ for a front stage consisting of quality drivers, then its probably worth a look. I have personally never owned one. However, if I were in that market, I would look at the overall package. Talk to some that have owned them. How did they like them? How was their service? What's their longevity like? The amplifier brand that I'm partial to has great SQ, awesome service, and exceptional longevity. I'm always willing to pay more for the entire package. Hope this helps. Good Luck.

I doubt you would be able to here the difference between audison and speakers and some that are cheaper

For the average guy, Audison is not for them. It would be a waste of money. You would be better served putting the extra money into a great install, and lesser gear. You can have a million dollar system, in a $20 install and sound like crap, or you can have $20 equipment in a great install and sound like gold.

having owned LOTSX of different speaker sets. i'll take my MLK 3 set over pretty much any of the internet brands //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif and the HSKxl setup i would take those as well over all the internet brands Amps, ypu the same story, i prefer a nice quality amplifier thats based on a sound engineers design rather then an amp that some guy got in a catalog picked parts ordered 100 started a preorder because he never had the money in the first place to order the amps and then sell them as some facinating amp. I'm not picking on one company thats just pretty much a cookie cutter of the majority of the popular internet amps out there.

Feb 2017 – parkinson’s support groups – guest speakers or programs – northern california.

February 1, 2017 By Parkinson's Community Help

audison thesis speakers

Lots of Northern and Central California Parkinson’s support groups have guest speakers or programs planned for February 2017.  Here’s what’s happening at a support group near you…

Do you need to know the support group meeting location, day/time, contact info, and how to RSVP if required?  Please refer to the Stanford Parkinson’s website for all Northern and Central California support groups:

parkinsons.stanford.edu/ support_groups.html

What does it mean if a support group you sometimes attend isn’t listed below?  It might mean that the group doesn’t have a guest speaker or specific program, the group doesn’t have its regular meeting this month, the group has a social event, or that the guest speaker info didn’t arrive from the group in time to be added here. Last but not least, it could mean that I messed up.  If you are not a regular attendee of a group, it’s always a good idea to call the group leader to confirm the meeting!  (See the link above for the group leader’s contact info.)

If the guest speaker info arrives too late to be added to this email, it will be added to our Stanford Parkinson’s Community Blog:

parkinsonsblog.stanford.edu

Generally, I post the contents of this email to the blog within a business day or two.

Stay warm, Robin Riddle parkinsons.stanford.edu

  3. Audison Thesis speakers vs Hertz Mille speakers

Audison discontinued Thesis speakers, though you may still be able to find them availabe. I believe the Voce's are the only speakers Audison still offers. Most who are familiar with Mille's prefer the previous models over the current. Regardless, they are all very above average. I don't they you can really make a bad move going with either.

  6. Opinions on the Audison Thesis Voce 3.0

    1) about ODR/pioneer. the Thesis is better than the TS-s062- PRS and more dynamic than the Ts-s101 PRS .The TS-s062 can be use without tweeter ,that it is not the case for the Voce. The Voce handles more power too. All the PRS are like a full range speaker, if you do not need a tweeter take them.

  7. Thesis Th 3.0 Midrange

Through finite element simulation (FEM) the Audison R&D team has optimized the break-up point between cone/surround, obtaining an ultra-linear frequency response in the mid-range.
