Blooket is an educational platform that allows students to play games and answer questions. Similar to Gimkit, Kahoot, and Quizizz, it makes education fun through gamification. This article will teach you the basic ins and outs of Blooket.

Using the Blooket Homepage

• The "News" button allows you to check the latest Blooket updates and news.
• The "My Sets" button allows you to see all of your created sets.
• The "Favorites" button lets you visit all of your favorite sets.
• The "Homework" button contains all of the assigned homework on Blooket.
• The "History" button lets you see your past history (e.g. past game sets you've played).

• The first button is the triangle Play button. It allows you to join Blooket games.
• The second button is the Discover button. It lets you search for Blooket games.
• The third button is the Dashboard . It contains your stats, game sets, news, and homework. (explained above)
• The Create button allows you to create sets.
• The Stats button contains all of your past scores on Blooket games.
• The Market button allows you to buy Blooks using tokens you get when you play a Blooket game.
• The Blooks button contains all of your blooks.
• The Settings button lets you change and control your Blooket account settings.
• The Logout button signs you out of your account.

Playing and Making Blooket Games

• Use the "Discover" button to search up games related to your search query.
• After you click on a game, you will be able to save it to your favorites, report the game (if it's inappropriate or spam), or duplicate it.

• To create a question set, you'll need to set a title. Name it something descriptive, such as "First Grade Addition Facts," "Science Trivia," or "George Washington Facts."
• Type in a description. The description is a short summary of what your game is about.
• Upload a cover image. The cover image (think of it as a thumbnail) is an image people will see when they search the game. It will need to be related to the game. You can upload an image (by computer or URL) or use the Blooket gallery.
• The privacy setting allows you to choose if everyone can play it (by joining with the number code), or only you can play it.
• The creation methods include starting a set from scratch, importing games from Quizlet, or importing a game from a spreadsheet. After you've chosen a method, select "Create Your Set" on the right.

• Choose the creation method to create a game from scratch. After you have done that, there will be an option to add questions.
• Type in a question after you have added a question.
• Make a question image. You can either upload it by computer or URL, or use the Blooket image gallery.
• Create at least two answer choices. The last two are optional.
• Choose the time limit. The time is automatically set to 20 second, but you can choose a shorter or longer time if you need to.
• Check the "Random Question Order" box if you want the question order to be different each time a person plays the game.
• Click "Save" when you're done with a question. Be sure to save every time you have finished writing a question.

Finding Which Blooks You Have

• When you click on a blook, it will show the name of the blook, if it can be sold, and the rarity of the blook.
• There are different rarities for each book: common (free ones that everyone has that cannot be sold), uncommon, rare, epic, legendary, chroma, and mystic.
• Each themed box has blooks that have rarities that range from uncommon to epic, legendary, or chroma.

• The common blooks are all animals, which include dogs, cats, sheep, owls, parrots, snakes, gorillas, penguins, sea otters, and walruses.
• The common blooks cannot be sold because they are free.

• When you click on an uncommon blook, there will be the green word "Uncommon" below the blook's name.

Buying and Selling Blooks

• There are Wonderland, Medieval, Breakfast, Space, Bot, Aquatic, Safari, and Dino boxes as of 2022. (Bot was added in 2021, Aquatic in 2022, Safari in 2022, and Dino was added in mid-2022.)
• If you have enough tokens to buy a themed box (worth around 15-25 tokens), then you can buy a blook.
• Click on the box to buy one of the blooks. It will ask you to confirm your choice. Click "Yes" if you are sure you want to buy it. It will then randomly choose a blook out of the 11 blooks in the box.

• The medieval Box contains stereotypical characters from medieval times. (The Middle Ages - 900 AD -1300 AD) They include an elf, a witch, a wizard, a fairy, a slime monster, a jester, a dragon, a queen, and a king. The king is legendary, with only a 1% chance of getting it.
• The Wonderland Box contains characters from Alice in Wonderland . Characters include the Two of Spades, Alice, the Mad Hatter, Eat Me, Drink Me, Queen of Hearts, Dormouse, White Rabbit, Caterpillar, and the King of Hearts. The King of Hearts is legendary, with only a 0.3% chance of getting it.
• The Breakfast Box contains items people typically eat for breakfast. They appear in the Café Blooket game mode. They include toast, cereal, yogurt, breakfast combo, juice, milk, waffles, pancakes, French toast, and pizza. Pizza is epic, with a 2% chance of getting it.
• The space box contains space-related objects and things. They include Earth, Meteor, Stars, Alien, Planet, UFO, Spaceship, and various Chroma astronauts.
• The bot box contains various robots. They appear in the Crypto Hack Blooket game mode. They include Lil Bot, Lovely Bot, Angry Bot, Happy Bot, Watson, Buddy Bot, Brainy Bot, and Mega Bot. Mega Bot is legendary, with only a 0.3% of getting it.
• The aquatic blooks are underwater creatures. They appear in the Fishing Frenzy Blooket game mode. They include an old boot, a jellyfish, clownfish, frog, crab, pufferfish, blobfish, an octopus, a narwhal, a baby shark, and a megalodon. The Megalodon shark is legendary, with only a 0.2% chance of getting it.
• The safari box is a recent edition. The safari box contains animals you might see at a zoo. The box contains a panda, sloth, tenrec (an animal that looks like a small opossum), flamingo, zebra, elephant, lemur, peacock, chameleon, a lion, and a rainbow panda. The rainbow panda is a chroma, and only a 0.02% chance of getting it! It is extremely rare.
• The dino box was added recently in May 2022. The dino box contains various fossils and dinosaurs. They appear in the Deceptive Dinos game mode in Blooket. They include Amber, a Dino egg, Dino fossil, Stegosaurus, Velociraptor, Triceratops, and Tyrannosaurus Rex. The T-Rex is legendary, with only a 0.3% of getting it.
• The Lovely box is only available on Valentine's Day (February 14th). It is an extremely expensive box, selling for $500 in Blooket. There is only one blook in it - the Lovely Frog.
• The Lucky box is only available on St. Patrick's Day (March 17th). It is also an extremely expensive box, selling for $500 in Blooket. There is only one blook in it - the Lucky Frog.
• The Spooky box is only available near Halloween (mid to late October). It sells for $25 in Blooket. It contains blooks related to Halloween. It includes a pumpkin, swamp monster, Frankenstein, vampire, zombie, mummy, werewolf, ghost, and haunted pumpkin.
• The Blizzard Box is only available near Christmas (mid to late December). It costs $25 in Blooket. The blooks are Christmas/holiday-related items. The Blizzard box includes a snow globe, holiday gift, hot chocolate, holiday wreath, gingerbread man, gingerbread house, snowman, Santa Claus, frost wreath, and tropical globe.

• At the top of the page, there is a feature called Class Pass. It allows you to create your own blooks! There are a total of 100 levels, in which there are custom hair, eye, nose, mouth, skin tone, and clothing choices!
• At the bottom of the page, it lists your most frequently used blooks using a bar graph.

Homework is a feature that allows teachers to assign work to students for them to work independently, instead of competing with one another. This is very useful for both users as the teachers don't have to be there and the student may go at their own pace.

The current game modes able to be assigned as homework are, Tower of Doom , Tower Defense , Cafe , Factory , Crazy Kingdom and Monster Brawl . All of these game modes are also able to be soloed , meaning you cannot play Racing , Classic , Crypto Hack , Fishing Frenzy , Blook Rush , Battle Royale , Santa's Workshop , Gold Quest and Candy Quest (Gold Rush Reskin/Halloween Retextured). If a teacher wants to assign homework they may set a finishing goal (like reaching wave 30 on TD, 1M cash in Factory). If you do not finish the goal and instead fail, then the homework ends. There is also an option to decide the available time of the homework. The homework cannot be done after the available time set. The maximum available time is 14 days, 23 hours and 59 minutes, 365 Days (1 Year) for plus. If you close the homework and want to reassign again, click Reopen

How to assign homework [ ]

Step 1 - Go to discover or dashboard , click "host" on any set you wish to assign homework to.

Step 2 - Choose Tower of Doom , Tower Defense , Cafe , Factory , Crazy Kingdom or Monster Brawl , as these are the current game modes you can assign homework. Once you have choose your game mode, click 'HW'.

Step 3 - Before you can assign your homework, you can change the homework details, like when the homework ends, the title of the homework, or to allow student accounts. Depending on the game mode, you set the finishing goal. Once you're done, click assign now.

Step 4 - After you have assigned your homework, you need to copy a link that lets students play the homework. If you scroll down, you can see each of the student's performance and progress. You can also choose to extend the homework due date by how many days,

Blooket! If you’ve not heard of it by now, you’re missing out! Blooket is a fantastic game platform that enables teachers to create fun and interactive review activities and quizzes for the classroom and for online learning.

In this guide, we will show you how to get started with Blooket, how to create question sets and quizzes, and how to play Blooket in class and online with students. First, let’s take a look at what Blooket is.

What Is Blooket And What Is It Used For?

Blooket is a gamified education platform that allows teachers to host quiz-style games that students participate in via their own device. Teachers can choose existing question sets or create their own. The existing quizzes are created by other teachers and shared on the platform, meaning there are literally thousands of pre-made games ready-to-go on a large variety of topics and subjects.

The quizzes and games on Blooket can be used in a variety of different ways in educational and learning contexts. Here are a few examples of what Blooket can be used for:

• Classroom Learning : Teachers can use Blooket quizzes as an engaging tool to review concepts taught in class. This could be particularly useful when preparing students for a test.
• Distance Learning : In remote or hybrid learning environments, teachers can use Blooket to ensure students remain actively engaged. It provides a fun and competitive way to learn and participate in class, even from home.

How To Sign Up To Blooket?

In order to use Blooket, the first thing you’re going to have to do is sign up. Luckily, this is super easy and absolutely free!

To register for Blooket, simply visit Blooket.com and choose to to either ‘ Sign Up with Google ‘ to use your Gmail account, or ‘ Sign up With Email ‘ to use any email address. Once signed up, you’ll be asked to confirm whether you’re a teacher or a student. Choose teacher, and then you’re ready to start using Blooket.

How To Use Blooket

Question sets.

Once you’ve signed up to Blooket, the next thing you need to do is to choose a question set to use in your quizzes. There are two options, you can create your own from scratch or you can click on ‘ Discover Sets ‘ to browse through a huge library of question sets made by other teachers.

What’s great about these discover sets is that they are made by other teachers, and so you are likely to find a ready-to-use quiz relevant to your lesson. There are also lots of question sets on trivia and general knowledge and so these can be used when you have extra time in class or want to reward students with a fun game.

There is also the option of creating your own question sets so that your quiz is exactly tailored to your lesson and your students’ levels. To create your own, simply click on ‘ Create ‘. Next, you’ll be asked to choose a descriptive title for your question set and to give it a brief description. This helps other teachers find your quiz questions and know what it is about.

Once you’ve given your question set a title and a description, it’s time to make the actual questions. Click on ‘ Manual ‘ and then on the next page choose ‘ Add Question ‘. You will then be prompted to type in your question and choose a picture for the question (optional). You must then type in up to 4 multiple choice answers and indicate the correct answer by checking the box next to the correct answer.

Next, click ‘ Save ‘ and then choose ‘ Add Question ‘ again to add another question. Once you have added all the questions to your question set, you’re ready to ‘Host’ a quiz and share with your students.

Hosting On Blooket

Once you have created or chosen your question set, the next step is to ‘Host’ a game. In your dashboard, you’ll see a blue ‘ Host ‘ button under each question set. Click on the ‘ Host ‘ button and then you will be given a choice of game modes.

Choose one of the game modes and then click on the purple ‘ Host ‘ button on the right. You’ll then be given the option to set a time limit for the game. Once you’re ready, click on the ‘ Host Now ‘ button.

Joining A Game On Blooket

After clicking on ‘ Host Now ‘ you will see your unique Game ID . This is the code that students need to know to join your Blooket game. Give the Game ID to students and instruct them to visit play.blooket.com on their devices to join the game.

Once students enter the unique Game ID they will be placed into a ‘lobby’ where they choose their character and wait for the ‘Host’ (the teacher) to start the game. Once all students have joined, the ‘Host’ must click ‘ Start ‘ on their device. This will activate the quiz and allow all students to start the game. Students will then answer the questions and try and score as many points as possible.

The game will continue until the time runs out or all the questions have been answered. At the end of the game, the ‘Host’ will be able to see how well each student performed. You can choose to keep the results private, or you can share them with the class and celebrate the winners.

If you feel students can benefit from answering the same set of questions again, you can host a different game mode with the same question set.

Live Game Modes

When ‘Hosting’ a Blooket quiz, you have the choice of choosing a ‘ Live Game Mode ‘ or to ‘ Assign Homework ‘. The live game modes are games you can play in class, or via distance learning, in real-time.

There are currently 13 different live game modes to choose from. The ‘Classic’ game mode is a typical quiz format in which students answer questions and earn points to climb the leaderboard.

My students’ favorite game mode by far is the Crypto Hack game. In this game, students will answer questions to ‘mine Crypto’ (get points). Students will also get a chance to steal another player’s points by guessing the secret word they chose at the start of the game.

How To Assign Homework

Another great feature of Blooket is the ability to assign quizzes as homework. This allows students to complete tasks in their own time. To assign homework on Blooket, first, go to your chosen question set and then click on ‘Host’. Next, you’ll see the live game modes, but if you scroll to the bottom, you’ll see a button that says ‘ Assign Homework ‘.

Click on ‘ Assign Homework ‘ and then choose a HW game mode that you want students to play. The next page will give you options to change the homework title and the time in which students have to complete the task.

Once you have set the time and typed in your homework title, click on ‘ Assign Now ‘. This will then take you to a page with a unique link to the homework assignment. Send this link to students and they will be able to complete the homework in their own time on their own devices.

Getting familiar with this website (it’s an excellent alternative to  Gimkit  with different games) and using it as a reward or to emphasis past content.

Blooket has a large number of resources to help you teach your students. As an educator, you can use this website to create vocabulary sets, trivia games, quests, and quizzes. Students outside of class can also use Blooket’s educational games to review past information or discover new facts. The primary age group for this platform is elementary, but you can customize the content for older students.

Create a free Blooket account

The first step is to go ahead and create a free account with your preferred email account here . It’s a simple process that takes a few minutes. Check your email, verify your account, and use a password you’ll remember easily to save time trying to log in to class.

Once you sign up you’ll be looking at a dashboard for your account. Here you can either create sets or discover sets :

Create a Set

The create a set function allows you to form your questions and is perfect if you’re looking for an interactive way for your students to study and review material at home. You can also use the “create a set” feature to create homework and assignments for your students to complete as a compliment to whatever lesson material you’re teaching.

If you want to create your own Blooket set material, click on the tab that says “Create a Set,” It will take you to a template page where you can fill in the set’s title, description, and pictures. Next, it’s time to add some questions.

Questions are in multiple-choice format and have a user-friendly layout that allows you to input which response is correct from the four options. You may also set a  time limit  for each question to make it more difficult and add images to make it visually appealing.

One of the best features of Blooket.com is that all the content teachers create is available and accessible to other instructors. Once you’ve completed and published your set, it becomes part of the library, allowing other teachers to discover and utilize it in their classrooms.

Discover Sets

“Discover sets” are premade Blooket sets. This feature is perfect if you’re looking for a fun reward system to use in class if your students finish an activity, quiz, or class test. The discover sets are also an excellent choice if you’re currently doing online remote learning and need a quick activity.

One of the most popular games is the “name that logo” set. It’s fun to test your student’s knowledge of various company brands, services, and companies. It’s also helpful to leverage as an onboarding mechanism for you and your students how Blooket works.

Once you navigate this section here, choose a game that you and your students find the most appealing or one that compliments your current lesson material. Once you select a game, you must choose a game mode.

Game modes in Blooket explained

Once you choose a set, you must select the game mode. Off to the right on the screen, it will describe what the game mode entails. With all game modes, you can set it based on time or obtaining a specific score, number, or quantity amount (depending on the game). We’ve found the time limit to be the most useful in class to keep things moving and suggest a time limit of 4 to 7 minutes.

Here is a quick overview of some of the most popular game options:

Up to 60 players can join this game mode, but having at least three or more players is best. Your students answer questions correctly and earn gold. Students can also take gold from other players, so there is a bit of luck and strategy involved in this game mode.

Fishing frenzy

Ideal for two players or more, students answer questions and throw out reels to reel in fish. In this mode, you can set it as time-based in that students need to reel in fish quickly, and the student who has the most fish wins, or you can base it on weight, with the heaviest fist being the farthest away from the players and the most difficult to reel in.

Crypto hack

In this mode, players “mine” crypto and hack other players’ defenses to steal their crypto. No luck is involved in this game mode; instead, players are rewarded for answering questions correctly and quickly.

Battle royal

The royal battle mode sets players one on one or teams vs. teams. You can break up the course into two teams in class, and each team has to pick one team member to go up against one individual from the other team. That way, each student participates on an individual level.

It sounds boring, but the cafe mode is fun because your students compete by answering the question correctly and getting supplies for their cafes. With supplies, they can keep customers happy and buy upgrades to level up their cafe.

Tower defense and the tower of doom

These last two options are homework-only games the students complete independently. Assigning homework allows students to play a game on their own time. You’ll be given a Game ID valid for a fixed period when you host. Then, when your students use this Game ID, they can play the game and answer questions. Then you’ll get real-time updates on their progress and performance.

Hosting a game

Once you’ve selected a Blooket set that you like, as well as a game mode, it’s time to go ahead and launch your game. As your Blooket location is loading, you’ll be given a game ID that your students can use to join your fun:

This game ID is essential to take note of, particularly when assigning homework. You’ll need to share this ID with your students so they can either join the game or complete your Blooket set for their assignment.

Assigning homework in Blooket

As we just mentioned with the Tower Defense game and the Tower of Doom game, you can create sets or use premade groups with a built-in homework mode. When you choose a game mode, you must select a game with a homework mode, where you are taken to a page where you can set a due date/time and a goal. The objective is either a specific amount of minutes spent playing or money earned in the game.

How do I assign a question set as homework for students to do on their own?

First, choose a question set by finding one in the “Discover tab” or creating one in the “Create tab” and then view it in your Dashboard. Now, click Host on this question set and select the Tower of Doom, Factory, Crazy Kingdom, Tower Defense, or Café mode, as these game modes currently have homework options.

Then, click “Assign HW,” and it will walk you through the process. Finally, it will give you a link that students can click to play the game on their own time. They only have to click the link; they don’t need an account, as Blooket only allows users 13 years or older to create accounts.

How do I check homework that is assign in Blooket?

In your Blooket dashboard, you’ll see a “homework” option in the sidebar. There you can view what students engaged with and completed the assignment and their overall performance. As you can set the homework to be done in a specific amount of time, students must show some responsibility and complete the task as required.

How do I share a question set I’ve created with another teacher?

With Blooket, you can assign a set you created to another teacher. First, navigate to your dashboard and find the set you want to share. Then, click on the gear icon to the right of the trash can. You’ll then see a “link” option.

Click the Link button, and it’ll copy the link for you to share. If the Link button does not appear, it is because your set is currently set to “private,” You must click the pencil icon to edit the privacy settings and make it public.

Blooket is a great learning tool for students

Blooket is simple and easy to use in the classroom or home as homework, with no extra equipment or login information required. Students must log into their accounts and input the game ID for the activity or assignment their teacher assigned.

Students may also use Blooket independently and play online games with their favorite game modes in various disciplines. This sort of gaming-based lesson material for young learners is engaging from a student perspective and helps the teacher make content your students will love.

Blooket for teachers’ conclusion

Blooket is simple to use in the classroom or at home for students. All they need to do is enter the game ID for the game mode of their choice for your students or that of an assigned Blooket set as homework. Then all your students need to do is add their nickname, and they’re off.

No user names or passwords are required. This is important if you’re using Blooket for students under 13. When you create a set and select a game mode, uncheck “Allow Student Accounts” so your young learners won’t be prompted to create a Blooket account, as users under 13 years old are not permitted to create one.

How to Use Blooket to Play Online Games With Your Students

Soon you’ll be customizing your own!

Looking to engage your students this new school year? Blooket to the rescue! I first learned about this tool while teaching online last year. I wanted to keep my students entertained and tuned in. As if the stars aligned and the educational technology goddesses smiled down upon me I discovered Blooket and all the ways I could customize it. What started as an “OK, I guess we can try this newfangled website and see if it works” turned into a relied-upon and highly anticipated way to begin class, practice concepts, and laugh. This year consider Blooket for teaching any and all subjects!

What is Blooket?

Blooket—like Kahoot! and Quizizz—is an online platform where teachers launch a game and students join with a code. Teachers can launch Blooket as a whole class for the ultimate competition or assign it “solo” to allow students to practice at their own pace without the stress of competition. Students can unlock Blooks (cute avatars) by earning points during gameplay. They can also use their points to “buy” different “boxes” which contain themed Blooks (Medieval Box, Wonderland Box, etc.). Frequently, there is fierce competition amongst my students for certain Blooks, such as the horse and the “fancy” toast. Without fail, when my middle schoolers see that a Blooket is on our schedule, a sense of excitement and competition permeates our classroom.

Play or Create—With Blooket You Can Do Both

Not only can you play Blookets created by others on virtually any subject you can think of, but you can also create your own to meet the needs of your class. From the homepage, you can join a Blooket (this is where your students will go to join the Blooket you’ve launched). First, create your account (I use the “log in with Google” feature). Next, Blooket transports you to the Dashboard. From here, you can search for pre-made Blookets in the Discover section or Create your own game. Type in your questions, use images for the answer choices, import question sets from Quizlet , and more. Once your students have completed a game, you can view the class accuracy from the History section on the Dashboard . *This tool is super handy, especially if you are preparing for an assessment.

*Although most features in Blooket are free, Blooket Plus appears to be a new paid version that allows you to view enhanced game reports.

Maximum Customization—Game Modes, Time, and Power-Ups

Once you’ve chosen from the Blooket library or launched your own creation, it’s time to decide upon the game mode. If the mode you choose has a time component, my go-to limit is 10 minutes for game play. Finally, choose to have your students join with Random Names (such as SeaFriend, GriffinBreath, or SunGrove) or with their own. We prefer Random Names due both to the hilarity of the silly combos and the anonymity. One of our favorite modes is timed Factory played with Glitches ( Power-Ups) . Namely, we like this one because it features such Glitches as “Vortex Glitch,” which flips the competitors’ screens around, causing general chaos and uproar. In addition to Factory , Gold Quest and Tower Defense are on our regular rotation. The vast range of customization enables us to play Blookets often, choosing different content and game modes to maintain intrigue.

Blooket Library (Content-Based and Beyond)

Distance Learning or hybrid teaching, math or science, right when school begins or mid-May when everyone is exhausted, Blooket is guaranteed to infuse laughter, friendly competition, and excitement into your classroom. I wish I had discovered Blooket earlier than January, but here are all the Blookets I’ve used in my 7th grade math/science class to date (these are all pre-made Blookets—remember, you can create your own).

• Geometry: Volume of Prisms , Classify Angles , Classify Angles: Complementary/Supplementary/Triangles , 3D Solid Figures

Have you heard about Blooket? It is the latest type of learning through trivia and review games for students enhancing classroom engagement. I believe it is a creative way to help students learn and revise challenging and daunting concepts. And I think when teachers use Blooket, they create a more enjoyable and effective learning environment for their students. 

So here’s a Blooket Guide For Teachers you can use in 2023 to get started!

Tom and Ben Steward created the Blooket learning website to have fun while learning and create memorable experiences. And let me tell you, they definitely succeeded! With game features that allow teachers to receive useful feedback and improve classroom management, Booklet has become a go-to tool for educators everywhere.

One thing I love about Blooket is how versatile it is. It’s not just for reviewing content – you can also use it to assign homework that your students will actually want to complete! And the best part is, the games are so engaging that your students won’t even realize they’re learning.

Blooket is a gamified educational tool that I find to be a fantastic way to optimize student engagement and keep students excited about the topic. The online learning platform allows teachers to host games and homework assignments innovatively that catch students’ attention, inspiring them to learn. Students receive rewards for answering multiple-choice questions correctly. 

The best part? Blooket is incredibly versatile; I find it is more than just a tool for review. Teachers host Blooket games in real-time in the physical classroom or online teaching, allowing students to go solo and practice at their time and their pace without competing with other students. 

With a wide range of question sets available, Blooket is a learning platform for all grades, from kindergarten to middle schoolers to 12th grade. Teachers can save their multiple-choice format question sets and use them in a variety of game options. The competitive games engage students on a different level when competing with classmates. 

Hosting the game is a breeze – teachers host the game mode with questions on their screen or projector, and students join in on their own devices using the game ID code. Plus, Blooket integrates with other learning platforms like Google Classroom and Seesaw; all the teacher has to do is insert the link.

How To Play Blooket

The Blooket game works with questions sets students need to answer. Teachers create unique question sets or find premade question sets with Discover or Search tabs. When students answer correctly, they receive points to buy or sell Blooks and power-ups. 

Create A Free Account

Blooket is free. The free version allows unlimited games, students, and question sets. Teachers can register as many students they want to but are limited to hosting a maximum of 60 students per session. Sign up with your Google account or email address.

Students younger than 13 years need a parent’s permission to create an account on the Blooket website. Students older than 13 with a student account can:

• Create their own question sets for their own game
• Buy and sell Blooks
• Track their statistics
• Participate in community events

Students don’t have to register to use Blooket and play online games; they can join an online game with just a code. The teacher provides the game code or a link to the Blooket game. For more fun, the student enters an alias name and avatar instead of their name.

Students wait in the lobby until the teacher allows them into the game. Teachers can see which students are waiting to play. When ready, the host presses the start giving students access to the game. Teachers can follow each student’s progress.

The Booklet free version is sufficient with its unlimited online games. The free version provides teachers with the percentage of questions answered correctly and incorrectly for the class and individual students. Blooket Plus is the paid version that allows teachers to view enhanced game reports. If you require more detailed reporting than the free version offers, subscribe to the Blooket Plus paid version.

Ease Of Use

The Blooket website is easy to navigate and use. After registration, you go to the dashboard page, where an overview tutorial takes you through the website tabs and features.

The Blooket dashboard is to the left of the screen and features five tabs.

• News is the latest Blooket news and articles. You’ll find new features and events announced here. 
• My Sets  features all the quiz question sets the teacher created. 
• Favorites give quick access to favorite questions sets. 
• Homework reveals the recent and live homework assignments. 
• History shows the latest games the teacher hosted and the history of the games. 

The teacher can immediately create questions or search for a premade set relevant to the topic to host the first multiple-choice game. 

When logged in to Blooket, you can switch between teacher and student mode. Most games allow late joiners; they can still win if they answer questions correctly. 

Students use click-and-drag-and-drop to play. 

The menu bar at the top of the screen gives you easy access to your dashboard, settings, statistics, and the two options for questions sets, Discover or Create.

• Discover  is a library of hundreds of premade question sets on different topics. 
• Create your own set of multiple questions with answers.

Create Or Discover Question Sets

Teachers have two options for question sets; they can create their own or use a public question set.

Everything required to create a question set is on the Create A Question Set page. Teachers only need to fill in the self-explanatory field.

• Title. Use a descriptive title for quick recognition. After creating multiple question sets, you’ll be glad you’ve used easily identifiable titles.
• Description. The description area allows the teacher to provide more information about the question set.
• Image. Use images to create your own visual themes. The cover image makes each question set unique. Teachers can upload or drag and drop the graphics for the specific question set.
• Private/Public. The public setting is for everyone to see; once published, it is available for other teachers to discover and use. The private setting is a great way to test the question set before launching the game.
• Import. Teachers can create the answer-question sets from scratch or import them from a spreadsheet or Quizlet.
• Answer-Questions. Add the question, image, and four answer choices. Click the checkmark showing which answer is the correct one. Add the time limit a student can spend on the question and check Random Answer Order to provide solutions in random order.
• Save. Blooket saves the question set for classroom games to My Sets on your dashboard.

The Blooket Discover page features questions sets on various topics you can use in different game modes. Each set has a card with the title, the number of questions, the author, when last edited, and the number of plays. Teachers can select the question set they are interested in or use the search bar to search topic-related questions.

Each set shows all the questions, the multiple-choice answers, and the time limit for each question. Next, select Host or Solo mode to create and launch games; teachers can add the set to the Favorites tab. Users subscribed to Blooket Plus can duplicate the premade questions and answers and edit them.

Select Game Mode

In Select Game Mode, you can see all the games. When you click on a game card, it provides the

• The title of the game
• A short description of the game
• The number of players or unlimited players
• At the bottom of the card, blue buttons indicate whether the game is for homework only (HW), a hosting online game (Host), or both options.
• The card also indicates the type of game, whether it requires strategy and speed, speed and accuracy, or strategy and accuracy.

Click on the HW or Assign HW button to assign the game homework. You are directed to the Blooket Assign Now page.

• Time Limits. Homework assignments have time limits set by the teacher when selecting the game in game mode. Select the due date when the homework is due by selecting the number of days, hours, and minutes.
• HW Title. Teachers can change the homework title to a more appropriate title.
• Goals. Each game has a purpose. For example, in the Crazy Kingdom, the number of guests with requests is the goal. A student needs to answer a question for each request. The teacher can decide the number of guests, which equals the number of questions.

When assigning homework, students complete a game in their own time. Teachers provide them with the game ID code to access the game and answer questions correctly.

Select the Host blue button to host a game. Teachers are directed to a Blooket settings page. Game settings vary according to the game; each game in game mode has specific goals and settings appropriate for that game. For example,

• Time or Cash. Teachers can choose whether students play with a time limit or for cash. The game ends after a specific time or when a player reaches a cash amount – set by the teacher.
• All Student Accounts. When disabled, students join the game without the account creation option.
• Number Of Questions. For example, teachers determine how many correct answers are needed to win the race in the Racing game. In the Crazy Kingdom game, the questions are related to the number of guests, and the Cafe game serves food items.
• Other settings are late joining, glitches (power-ups) allowed, and random names.

Immediate feedback about students’ performance gives teachers vital information. They can identify where the class or individual students struggle and which concepts require more explanation and review. All gameplay generates summary reports.

When students answer questions correctly, the screen is green, and a checkmark leads them back to game mode. The screen changes to red with an incorrect answer; the correct answer is revealed at the bottom of the screen for three seconds, allowing students to study the correct answer.  

Blooket Game Features

Blooks are cute avatars, friends, and foes, making the playing field more engaging and challenging. These character avatars are small animals or people used as icons, enemies, guests, and ways to defeat the enemy. Blook categories vary from common blooks to the rarest Mystical ones. 

• Common blooks are default blooks and can’t be sold. They are cute and colorful, and there are about 40 common blooks. Teachers can assign color blocks as avatars if they run out of character blooks.  
• Uncommon blooks   are unlocked through boxes; up to 5 uncommon blooks are in a themed box. Uncommon blooks sell for five tokens.
• Rares sell at 20 tokens and have a drop rate of 6.5-11%. There are currently about 19 rare blooks found in 8 different boxes. The uncommon blooks and rare blooks have a green particle effect when obtained. 
• Epics feature in boxes, and you have a 2-5.05% chance of finding an epic blook in a box. There are about 12 epics, and they sell at 75 tokens. A red particle effect appears when obtained.
• When obtained, Legendaries have a mixed yellow particle effect; they sell for 200 tokens except for the Megalodon that sells for 250 tokens. The nine legendary blooks are King, King of Hearts, Astronaut, Mega Bot, Lion, Baby Shark, Santa Claus, and Megalodon. 
• Chromas have a 0.05-0.02% drop rate, and some are only awarded at certain events. Although there are 21 different chroma blooks, they are scarce.
• Mysticals are the rarest blooks in the game and sell at 1,000 tokens. The three mystical blooks are Spooky Ghost, Tim the Alien, and Phantom King. 

With eight different game modes for regular play and two unique event games, teachers can host various games or reuse their favorite game modes. 

• Factory, Cafe, and Tower Defense games are available as hosted, homework, or solo games . 
• Tower of Doom and Crazy Kingdom are for solo play and homework assignments . 
• Classic Game, Racing Mode, Battle Royale, Gold Quest, Crypto Hack, Santa’s Workshop, Fishing Frenzy, Candy Quest, and Blook Rush are hosted games . 

The fun arcade games offer a variety of game modes; some are like a traditional trivia game, and others allow glitches or power-up of the strategy game piece. You may know all the answers to the questions, but it doesn’t help if your health bar has zero points.

Earning tokens, cash, and spending coins add to the fun of playing Blooket games. Some Blooket games allow students to buy glitches to power up their blooks; they have the option to sell them. Tower Defense is one game in which choosing the right blook and strategically placing it on the map may help you win the game. 

Blooket saves games automatically.

When you select a game in game mode, you can load a saved game or play a new game. Load game takes you to all the saved games for that particular game.

The Blooket Play tab also gives you the option to load a saved game or enter the game id for a hosted game. In Blooket Play, all games you’ve played are shown, not just the saved games of a particular game.

Teachers don’t have to create a new question set for each game. Keep students engaged when answering questions from the same set but playing different games.

If certain games keep students entertained longer, reuse these favorite games; teachers can host the same game with different question sets.

Although the free version has so much to offer, you’ll be surprised that the paid version has even more to offer.

• Early Access. Paid subscribers get early access to new Blooks, game modes, events, and limited-time events.
• Exclusive Freebies. Students are eligible for free bonus tokens after games.
• Duplicate Community Sets . Changing public question sets saves teachers time and allows them to customize the question set for their lesson and classroom without creating a question set from scratch.
• Create Folders. Folders can keep the content organized.
• Enhanced Game Reports.
• Randomizing points
• Auto generating groups
• Student engagement portal to check student progress

I can confidently say Blooket is one of the best online resources for class-wide review, remote learning, learning at own pace, and inspiring more open-ended participation. It’s such a user-friendly game; I can imagine how engaged and excited students feel when playing Booklet games. One of my favorite things about the Booklet game is the reward you get for answering questions correctly, and in some games, the fastest correct answer wins.

Whether students use their own devices or participate in a group competition at a classroom station, Blooket never disappoints. I think students love having their own accounts, embedded incentives that keep them motivated to learn, and competitive experiences.

As for teachers, I think Blooket is a game-changer. Teachers can host games with their own visual theme using the vast range of gameplay types and receive instant feedback. The Blooket group gameplay features are helpful classroom management tools and an excellent resource that I highly recommend to anyone looking to make learning more engaging and exciting.

To generate a question set, first, click the “Create” button on the main screen. From here, there are two approaches: manual input or CSV file upload.

For manual input, type in a question, then enter up to four possible answers, making sure to star the correct one.

For the CSV method, download a template from Blooket. Fill in questions, answer choices, and mark the right response, before uploading it back to the platform.

All question sets can be saved and edited at any time. Additionally, you can view and use sets created by other educators by tapping on the “Discover” option.

Put some thought into question difficulty, variety, and balance to make the gaming experience both challenging and fun. Remember, the goal is to facilitate learning, so ensure your question set supports that aim.

Hosting a Blooket Game

To initiate a game, it’s necessary to select a question set. These can either be personally created or ones that others have made public. Select the desired game mode, each has its unique setup and rules.

Once defined, a game code is generated and shared with players. They then enter this code on their devices to join the game. Spectators are also permitted to watch the ongoing game but cannot participate actively.

It’s also possible to set a timer for the game creating an added element of urgency and strategy. Fair play is maintained as Blooket also has features to kick out players should they behave inappropriately during the game.

English/Language enthusiasts can also enable a censorship filter to screen out indecent language.

Playing a Blooket Game

Joining a Blooket game is simple, requiring just a few steps. First, the host provides a game pin, which players enter on the Blooket website or app. After entering this pin, players type in their chosen usernames. Once everyone is ready, the host initiates the game.

Playing the game involves answering multi-choice questions correctly within a time limit. Each correct response earns virtual currency or points, depending on the game mode. Visual cues signal whether answers are right or wrong, and a leaderboard displays player rankings throughout the game.

Some game modes offer additional strategic elements, like power-ups or tools for coping with challenging topics. Using these effectively can provide a competitive edge and make gameplay more dynamic.

Rapid question answering and strategic use of game features become essential for advancing in the leaderboard, reinforcing learning in an enjoyable, challenging manner.

Assigning Blooket Games As Homework

Firstly, identify the educational content you’d want to reinforce; this should form the basis of your Blooket homework task. Following that, create or select a pre-existing question set related to this content.

To set it up as a homework assignment, click on the “Assign Homework” button on the game’s main page. This will redirect you to a new page that will allow you to set a start date, an end date and the game mode for your specific homework assignment. Once you are logged in the portal, you will notice the welcome screen stating that “You’ll need a Question Set to Host!”. You can either start creating your own set or else check the Discover Sets link.

From this page, you will find thousands of already created sets which can be reused in your class. You can even add them to your favorites to come back later.

If you feel creative, choose the option to create a new game. 

• Name your game (think of something funny and creative that will attract your learners’ attention),
• Add a short summary of the game,
• Upload an image that will help locate it on the dashboard, and
• Choose the privacy settings that you want to add (especially if you want the game to be visible only to your students)

Creating your set from scratch

Now, since you have decided to create your own set from scratch, let’s have a look at the process of adding new questions in detail.

• Once you saved the set (it is called as a Blooket), you will see the options to change time limit and adding new questions.
• Click on Add Question button.
• There’s an easy-to-use layout with four answer choices, similar to what students see on many state assessments. You can add images and set a time limit for each question if you’re working on fluency or want to add an extra challenge.

Blooket Game Modes

Once you’ve finished creating your set, you’re ready to specify the type of assignment you’ve made. Here are some of the game options you might choose:

Host Game – Live Mode

If you choose to host a game, it means that the students will be interacting with game live which makes it a group game session aka Blooket Live. You can control the game details by allowing late joiners, randomizing student names, and specifying the number of questions. Students can participate in hosted games through the Blooket app on their devices.

Homework Mode

You can assign a review game for homework using the “ HW ” tab. This will take you to a page where you can set a due date/time and a goal.

Now it’s time to generate and share the Game ID with your students. When your multiple-choice game is ready for use, Blooket will provide a number code you can give to your students for them to access the game mode.

Blooket offers a wide range of games that students can play at any time during their day. Some of the games that students can find in Blooket are:

• Classic – The classic game is like any other quiz-trivia game. Students should answer as many questions as possible in order to earn a point and finish first.
• Cafe – In Cafe mode, students answer questions to earn food to serve to customers in the game. In this mode, the points are the items that they need in order to replenish the empty food boxes and run the cafe properly.
• Gold Quest – In Golden Quest students have the option to answer the quiz-based questions at their own pace. When answering the questions correctly they get the option to unlock three new boxed.
• Racing – In the racing competition, Students need to answer the questions as fast as they can in order to block their competitors and proceed to the next level.
• Factory – In factory mode, the learners needs to answer quickly to upgrade their blooks and make virtual cash in their factory.
• Crazy Kingdom – Keep a kingdom running by answering a variety of guests’ requests and managing your limited resources.
• Crypto Hack – In Crypto Hack mode, the students needs to answer correctly to mine cryptocurrencies and hack others.
• Tower defense – In the tower defense mode, students need to answer questions, build towers, and design the defense to protect yourself from waves of Evil Blooks.
