Crew review: Transcendent cast chemistry elevates Bollywood heist comedy
Kriti sanon, kareena kapoor khan and tabu shine in this caper loosely inspired by the legal troubles of businessman vijay mallya.
Kareena Kapoor, Tabu, and Kriti Sanon turn an otherwise average heist movie into a joyful experience. Photo: Communication network production
On March 2, 2016, Vijay Mallya, then-businessman and ex-chairman of Kingfisher – a brand of that offered a line of beverages and an airline group – fled India for the UK , citing the need to be closer to his children , according to reports at the time.
It was revealed around the time that Mallya borrowed about 90 billion Indian rupees ($1.1 billion) from 17 Indian banks, an amount said organisations are still trying to collect from him . He’s still fighting several cases across both the UK and India.
Rajesh Krishnan’s feature-length directorial effort Crew – a heist comedy starring Tabu, Kareena Kapoor Khan, Kriti Sanon, Diljit Dosanjh, and Kapil Sharma – takes the loose elements of Mallya escaping to Britain, and turns the events into an entertaining and empowering wish-fulfillment romp that focuses on female friendship, while tackling class disparity, misogyny and financial desperation along the way.
The film centres around three colleagues, all of whom work as air hostesses for Kohinoor Airlines, which is embroiled in controversies. They haven’t been paid for half a year, and – along with three other members of their team – are on the verge of personal bankruptcy.
A twist in fate forces the desperate trio to turn to crime. The issue? When they’re almost caught in the act, they realise they’re being manipulated—played for pawns by those higher up on the payroll.
What follows is the lead up to a heist – which feels more rudimentary than one would expect, but somehow works in the film’s favour because of how well the characters thrown into the unforeseen situation work with each other. Each of them has a backstory that allows the audience to empathise with them —bolstered by a trio of excellent performances.
As a result, we get a balance between a buddy comedy and a heist movie, one that focuses on developing character more than adding complicated plot machinations.
Director: Rajesh A Krishnan
Starring: Tabu, Kareena Kapoor Khan, Kriti Sanon
Rating: 3.5/5
Coming off her powerhouse performance from Teri Baaton Mein Aisa Uljha Jiya , Sanon’s work is solid, if overshadowed (naturally) by the incredible talent of both Tabu and Kapoor Khan. Tabu shines with her on-point depiction of what could be a massive anxiety attack and eventual breakdown in a scene that just hits hard.
The trio have excellent chemistry with each other, and make you want to root for them even in the bleakest of situations. A lot of their success can be attributed to the film’s foundation: the writing. Nidhi Mehra’s ( Veere Di Wedding ) ability to write relatable characters, as well as funny and strong women in stressful and unlikely situations makes Krishnan’s work flow well. Manan Sagar’s punchy, stylistic edit works as a perfect tip of the hat to heist comedies such as the Ocean’s quadrilogy.
The soundtrack is functional, works for the situation and is easy on the ears, but nothing to write home about.
Crew is an easy, breezy film. Sure, it’s not the perfect movie – the humour doesn’t always work and the heist is very basic, but it is still a fun watch. The three protagonists are likeable, and the motive behind their quirky criminal escapades make this film worth watching on the big screen.

Crew movie review: Kareena Kapoor, Tabu & Kriti Sanon’s film is an all-out entertainer
While Hollywood has films like Thelma & Louise (1991), Oceans Eight (2018), Widow (2018) and Hustlers (2019), you will be surprised to know that the Hindi film industry never tapped into making a comedy heist that is led by an all-female cast. Although Bollywood had its “sexual awakening” a long time back with films that aptly explore female pleasure, we rarely have made films that showcase female characters beyond being an embodiment of glitz and glamour. However, with the announcement of Crew and its stellar cast, everyone was excited to see whether the movie would hit the ballpark or not.
A look at the trailer of Crew, and you will understand that the comedy heist movie has all the suitable elements for a blockbuster hit including a great cast, an engaging plotline and a capable director. But has this combination worked for the film? Read our review of Crew to find out if the movie is worth a watch in theatres or not.
Crew movie review: What works and doesn’t work for the film
The cast of Crew features Kareena Kapoor Khan, Tabu and Kriti Sanon in lead roles. The supporting cast includes stars like Diljit Dosanjh, Kapil Sharma, Rajesh Sharma, Saswata Chatterjee and Trupti Khamkar. The film is helmed by Rajesh Krishna, known for his directorial debut film Lootcase, and is backed by Ekta Kapoor, Rhea Kapoor, Anil Kapoor, and Digvijay Purohit under Balaji Motion Pictures and Anil Kapoor Films & Communication Network.
The story revolves around three diligent flight attendants who are a part of the cabin crew for Kohinoor Airlines. Geeta Sethi (Tabu) is the in-flight supervisor, Jasmine Rana (Kareena Kapoor Khan) is the senior flight attendant and Divya Bajwa (Kriti Sanon) is the junior flight attendant working for Vijay Walia’s (pun-intended) Kohinoor Airlines that is going bankrupt. Frustrated with their mundane, middle-class life and the problems that come with it, the three ladies decide to take risks and change their fate. What starts as a fun ride, soon faces major turbulences, forcing them to plan a crazy, preposterous heist. Do they manage to pull it off? Is the build-up to the heist worth your time? Let’s find out.
What works for the movie?
Crew is a simple, no-glossy-drama, fun movie that works on many levels. Before we can even dive into the moviemaking bit of the movie, I think mentioning how good Kareena Kapoor Khan looks in the movie is quintessential. Credits to the costume department of the movie and Kapoor’s charm, you will not be able to take your eye off her throughout the film. Her character, Jasmine, is also the driving force of the film where we see Bebo being her natural self on the screen. You will surely be entertained by Jasmine and her quirky antics.
Having said that, we cannot overlook the grace that Tabu brings to the story with her character, Geeta. Her camaraderie with the cast of Crew makes the movie even more satisfying. Kriti Sanon as Divya is the most relatable character in the film. The three divas have upped the glam quotient of the film, but Crew thankfully is more than just showcasing them as three pretty ladies struggling in life. Although the film has several loopholes that may disappoint the audience, you will want to overlook that because the film has not portrayed the characters as sorry figures. Yes, they have day-to-day, realistic struggles that everyone can relate to, but no, they are not sobbing about it. Rather, they are having fun, committing innocuous crimes and planning a heist to make things right. What adds more charm to the film are the peppy songs composed by Diljit Dosanjh, Badshah, Raj Ranjodh, Vishal Mishra, Akshay–IP, Bharg–Rohit.
What does not work for the film?
While Crew is a fun movie to watch, there are a few things that make the film weak. Firstly, with stars like Diljit Dosanjh, Kapil Sharma, Rajesh Sharma and Trupti Khamkar in the film, the little screen space does no justice to their talents. These actors have spot-on comic timing and it seems like their craft was killed here. Saswata Chatterjee as the prototype Vijay Mallya also deserved better.
Rajesh Krishnan previously gained critical acclaim for his dark comedy film Lootcase. Anyone who has seen the Kunal Kemmu starrer knows what Krishnan is capable of. Unfortunately, the director did not get a chance to showcase his distinctive directorial style as the writing overthrew that aspect of the film with weak jokes and an insipid script. Crew starts on an engaging note, soars high in the sky, but suddenly crashes down as soon as you come back to the theatre after the interval.
Is the film worth a watch?
A 100%. I mean who would mind watching Kareena Kapoor Khan in her Poo element on the big screen! The film is packed with moments that will make the whole theatre laugh in unison. Kapil Sharma and Diljit Dosanjh are some of the most charming men in the world and this film proves why. Tabu is an icon and will remain an icon. It’s pleasant to see Kriti match the energy of these two legendary actresses. The film is a great escape from reality, and a typical Bollywood movie is just about that, so you may want to book your tickets for the movie right away.
Our verdict: ☆☆☆☆

‘Crew’ Review: Tabu, Kareena and Kriti’s film flies high, lands safely

Imagine, three women have seemingly glamorous jobs as air hostesses but can barely manage their lives due to lack of money. They finally find a way to get out of the situation, but that involves risk. When they have a brush with the authorities, they re-think their ways and pull up a never-seen-before heist. All this served with a good dose of fun, genuine sisterhood and a lot of sexiness. Now, that’s what makes a good popcorn-binge drama, doesn’t it?
Tabu, Kareena Kapoor and Kriti Sanon’s recently released ‘Crew’ whips up just that! It takes off, keeps well afloat, and faces some turbulence even at landing (quite literally at one point in the film) but ultimately makes a pretty safe landing.
The trailer gave a fair idea of what this con comedy is about. Geetha Sethi (Tabu), Jasmine (Kareena Kapoor), and Divya Rana (Kriti Sanon) are stewardesses at Kohinoor Airlines, whose chairman is Vijay Walia (Saswata Chatterjee). No point for guessing who the makers are trying to take a dig at. The airline is on the verge of bankruptcy, but the HR head, Walia’s right-hand man (Rajesh Sharma), assures everyone that all is well.
The employees are trying to keep afloat, with loans on their heads or their PFs stuck. They are not even able to pay their rent on time. That’s when the three ladies stumble upon gold and smuggling it would mean enough money for a luxurious life.
The film starts when the authorities detain these three, and you are left wondering if they will be caught. But, that’s not the film. I won’t spoil the fun by spelling everything out.

The male characters are introduced to push the three female leads and their arc forward. Most significant are Arun Sethi (Kapil Sharma), a home chef who dreams of having his own restaurant in Goa, and Jaiveer (Diljit Dosanjh), who has a soft corner for ‘Divya Rana from Haryana’. There’s Jasmine’s lovable grandfather (Kulbhushan Kharbanda) too, who is just there to support his granddaughter unconditionally.
The writing, by Nidhi Mehra and Mehul Suri, is crisp and keeps the pace steady throughout the film. It very beautifully covers up the few loopholes here and there. The build-up in the first half is good, but the second half is where it gets better.
Director Rajesh Krishnan has a reputation for churning out good comedies, having directed ‘Tripling’ and ‘Lootcase’. This one is on a grander scale, but he manages to pilot it just as perfectly.
What makes the movie fly higher is the performance. The three leads pull off a perfectly-timed and well-done comedy. They individually stand out and create a riot together. Tabu is the senior actor and, despite flaws in how her character is sketched out, she proves why she is one of the finest around. She nails the comedy just as perfectly as she pulled off a ‘Maqbool’ or ‘Haider’. She is the perfect embodiment of the middle class among the three.
Kareena Kapoor is effortless as Jasmine, who wants to portray herself as rich and wouldn’t bat an eyelid if she had to do something illegal for a few extra bucks. She is unapologetic, sassy and carefree, and that is what makes her stand out. Kareena gets into the skin of the character and performs with ease, but she must have taken quite some effort to perfect it.
Kriti Sanon is the youngest , and least experienced in the trio, but she too stands out with her performance as this no-nonsense, morally upright girl who has had her own shortcomings. Despite all that, she lies to her parents daily about her job and is stuck in a web of lies that she has created around her to keep up with her image. Her character, hence, has also been given this moral dilemma and a layer that others have not so graciously been bestowed with. Kriti has her shortcomings in some scenes, but puts up a genuine effort. She manages to hold her space even though she has stalwarts like Tabu and Kareena beside her in each frame.
In times when political dramas trying to make a statement abound, 'Crew' is a welcome change. It’s light, easy-breezy and stays true to being a masala entertainer. This is a film where you do not need to put your brain, and can just enjoy a hearty laugh. Just like ‘Madgaon Express’, that was released last week, this one gets its comic timing right and is a good watch. 3.5 out of 5 for ‘Crew’ Published By: Zinia Bandyopadhyay Published On: Mar 29, 2024 ALSO READ | | 'Crew' director on ego clash between Tabu, Kareena, Kriti: 'Didn't see any'

Crew movie review: Kareena Kapoor, Tabu, Kriti Sanon’s easy-breezy comedy washes away stench of recent Bollywood duds
Crew movie review: tabu, so comfortable in in her older woman avatar, and kareena kapoor khan, treading the thin line between greed and need with ease, are a riot; kriti sanon, in their company, manages to hold her own..
Three women, struggling to keep their heads above stormy waters, shucking and jiving and diving, while keeping it all fleet-footed AND having fun, and making sure we do, too? Take all my money now.
Geeta Sethi (Tabu), Jasmine Bajwa ( Kareena Kapoor Khan) and Divya Rana ( Kriti Sanon ) are part of the crew at Kohinoor Airlines, a thinly-veiled stand-in for the now-defunct real-life Kingfisher Airlines, whose chairman (Saswata Chatterjee), is an even thinner-veiled stand-in for the ‘bhagoda’ billionaire Vijay Mallya. The film’s writers, Nidhi Mehra and Mehul Suri, don’t bother too much about doing any hiding, calling their character, Vijay Walia, who does a runner, declaring bankruptcy, leaving thousands of employees in the lurch.
Also read – Jaane Jaan movie review: Kareena Kapoor is both the strength and weakness of this film
As befits a caper-cum-heist, an array of characters show up as and when required. That goes for the men who sportingly bring up the rear, leaving the ladies to forge ahead. Arun Sethi (Kapil Sharma) is a home-chef, whose dream is to have his own restaurant in Goa . Jasmine is girl who always wants more, keeping a covetous eye on that LV bag and the Beemer, even as her beloved grandpa (Kulbhushan Kharbanda) rumbles on about the things that really matter. And ‘Divya Rana from Haryana’, as the smitten customs officer Jaiveer ( Diljit Dosanjh ) calls her, is a liar but nice with it. Both Sharma, who has shown that he can be a fine actor, and Dosanjh, oozing his brand of grounded sexiness, are real assets: they know their place.
When it’s a question of suitcases full of gold bars, and fully illegal activities in a glitzy place called Al Burj which feels like a stand-in splashy Dubai (why not just call it that, or is even that not allowed now?), our trio jumps right in. And of course, sooner vs later, they are up against the long arm of the law. What now? Jail not bail, right?
The writers keep everything brisk and snappy and, in places, sitcom-y, not giving us a chance to dwell on the frequent contrivances, and convenient loops the characters are made to jump through. The touchy-feely moments which give the film an emotional core are not overdone: an air-hostess (Pooja Bhamrrah) who loses all hope of getting her pending money from the absconding Mallya, oops Walia, helped by his complicit right hand man (Rajesh Sharma), has had to face the ignominy of her child being chucked out of school.
But, for the love of everything that’s holy, why so many annoying product placements? They make things clunky and fake, and you feel like screaming, especially in a film where everything is going along so swimmingly. Big bummer; dear producers, please don’t. Also, what a ruination of that raunchy classic: the ‘choli ke peeche’ reprise is a bore.
Fortunately, our ladies are to the rescue: Tabu , so comfortable in her older woman avatar as the senior-most of the crew, and Khan, treading the thin line between greed and need with ease, are a riot; Sanon, in their company, is boosted, and manages to hold her own. These actors have a lived-in feel, as if they really have done dozens of flights together: they bicker and banter, unafraid of speaking their minds, fully owning their age (cue ‘layers of foundation not hiding the years’ jokes), as well as their bawdiness and vulnerabilities, channelling both glamour and grime, and are the kind of women our movies need more of.

Net net, watching these three air hostesses with the mostest, in an easy breezy comedy, with plenty of self-aware chuckles strewn about, is the most fun I’ve had at the movies recently. Just what I needed to blow away the dispiriting clouds of recent Bollywood duds.

- Movie Name: Crew
- Critics Rating: 3 / 5
- Release Date: March 29, 2024
- Director: Rajesh A Krishnan
- Genre: Comedy-Drama
Another women-centric film Crew, featuring Tabu, Kriti and Kareena has hit the theatres today. The film loosely takes Vijay Mallya and Kingfisher Airlines' backdrop. Named as Vijay Walia, Saswata Chatterjee plays a Kohinoor Airlines owner, where Geeta Sethi (Tabu), Jasmine (Kareena Kapoor Khan) and Divya (Kriti Sanon) work as the cabin crew. The 2 hour 4 minutes film has comedy, obvious suspense, a predictable heist and lots of glamours. Coming from the makers of Veere Di Wedding, Crew does not have pseudo feminism, nudity and a 'Four More Shots Please' vibe. Thankfully, in the name of women empowerment, this film is nothing like to the previous one. This could also be because Rhea Kapoor stuck to just producing the film instead of directing it. Crew is easy breezy, and an entertaining watch. Kriti may have been a bit overshadowed by Tabu and Kareena, but one can't complain when you share screen with that much of talent.
Kareena, Kriti and Tabu starrer Crew runs in two timelines. One, where the three are getting interrogated and the other (past version), where you get to know their story but also the depth of their friendship. Tabu plays the senior most member of this cabin crew, second being Kareena and then Kriti. The film then features an airline getting bankrupt and its employees being forced to suffer in bare minimum. Here's where the three among others share a common sorrow - a moneyless job and financial problems. A short background story of Kriti, Tabu and Kareena is also showcased where the makers try to pave way for the upcoming heist. The film then takes an interesting turn when the three actor come across loads of golds amid their misery. With this, follows a short but sweet intro of Diljit Dosanjh, who plays Kriti Sanon's love interest.
After realising that the company is actually bankrupt, the promises are a lie and her PF is unquestionable, Tabu aka Geeta motivates the other two to take up a plunge. After having a fare share moment of fun and luxury, their good time falls short and the three end up for interrogation. The fight among themselves, a fight within and a fight with the system is what the ladies decide. Keeping everything under the genre of comedy-drama, the makers are somehow able to pull the right cords.
Crew is directed by Rajesh A Krishnan who is best regarded for the lockdown OTT release, Lootcase. Krishnan had made the most of the opportunity with Kunal Khemu starrer, however, Crew lags behind. In the sense of not letting this film seem illogical, Krishnan has left lot of loopholes uncovered. Another biggest mistake by the filmmaker is casting Diljit and Kapil Sharma in a comedy film but not making use of their comic timings. Both have ended up in a almost serious role and have been presented 'just' as the greenest flags. The director and writer could have easily come up with their punchlines, given the circumstances. However, Krishnan should be applauded for not coming up with bizarre takes in the name of women empowerment. He also has kept the film logical in several sense. The makers have also mixed glamour in the perfect proportion that the story does not get effected.
A film featuring Kareena Kapoor, Kriti Sanon, Tabu in lead roles. And Diljit Dosanjh, Kapil Sharma in supporting roles, one can only expect good performances. Kareena Kapoor looks the best in Crew. She is ambitious, sharp, glamours, witty and unapologetic. Well, Kareena seems a lot Bebo in this film. On the other hand, Tabu has the best lines in the film. She is the senior most in the cabin crew and the actor captures that in her gestures, acting and even walk. Lastly, Kriti Sanon may have been a bit overshadowed by the other two. However, the actor compensates that with her on-point emotional expressions. One may also feel that Diljit and Kriti's love story could have been given more footage, as their chemistry is too good. Kapil and Diljit are good in the given circumstances but after all they are just supporting the leads.
Supporting cast includes, Rajesh Sharma as Mittal, Kulbhushan Kharbanda as Nanu and Saswata Chatterjee as Vijay Walia. The actor have really made full use of their short presence but Mittal is a clear winner among them. Pooja Bhamrrah who plays Komal in the film is also good. She strikes the right cords.
Crew has some good music and some failed ones. Ghagra and Choli Ke Peeche Kya Hai are perfectly placed in the film. These songs also add up to the story and you wouldn't feel board. However, the intro and sad song didn't work for me. Raj Ranjodh could have done better with these though. Naina sung by Diljit, obviously comes with the end credits and adds nothing to the story of this film. Overall, Crew has good party songs and you can hear them playing in parties now.
Despite being predictable and not that comical, Crew has its heart at the right place. You would feel for people working in such circumstance and by the end the film will also leave you with an ironic sense of justice. Featuring three good actors, the film never lacks in performance. This film will also give you an honest insight about the lives of cabin crews. The costume depart of Crew should also be lauded for making the actors look that captivating. However, all the jokes didn't work for me. Some fell flat and some seriously lacked comedy. Overall, the film is watchable on the big screens and clearly deserves 3 stars. Directed by Rajesh A Krishnan and produced by Ektaa Kapoor and Rhea Kapoor, Crew has released in theatres now.

Amid their broken lives, they have another matter to deal with which will take you through ups and downs.

What’s good about Crew
Glamour quotient: Rhea Kapoor, the producer of the movie Crew, has ensured that the glamour quotient is quite high. Her previous movies like Thank You For Coming and Veere Di Wedding were known for their high fashion and Crew is no different. Despite being portrayed as three broke girls, the fashion and costumes worn by Kareena, Tabu and Kriti are stunning. The fashion is so top-notch that it might make you feel underdressed and poor. Every frame of the movie looks stylish and spectacular, thanks to the trendy clothes that have been showcased. It’s hard to ignore the fashion that is on your face throughout the movie.
Trio Friendship: The bond of friendship between three individuals has always resonated well with audiences. Movies like Dil Chahta Hai, Go Goa Gone, 3 Idiots, and ZNMD, these stories connect with the viewers because of the portrayal of strong friendships. The movie Crew also has the potential to touch the hearts of the masses with its depiction of the bittersweet friendship between the three main characters. From sharing dirty jokes to becoming partners in crime, the trio’s relationship is beautifully showcased and executed.
Character Sketches: Moreover, the characters created by Nidhi Mehra and Mehul Suri are highly relatable. In a trio of friends, we all have that one friend who is the responsible caretaker and mommy, like Tabu’s character. There’s also the feisty and lively one, which is Bebo’s character, and the innocent one and acha baccha, which is Kriti’s character. The chemistry between the actresses is outstanding, making the movie a visual treat. Their characters are intricately interwoven, enhancing the beauty and depth of the narrative.
View this post on Instagram A post shared by Tabu (@tabutiful)
Songs: The highlight of the movie is undoubtedly the lively and catchy songs of the Crew. From the energetic rendition of “Choli” and “Sona Kitna Sona Hai” to the groovy “Naina”, each song is sure to find a spot on your playlist for a long time. The picturisation and choreography by Farah Khan have been executed with finesse, making it a visual treat to watch on the big screen.
What’s not good about Crew
Direction: Rajesh A Krishnan is the director of Crew and the direction seems to be a little chaotic in the first half, and the storytelling could have been crisper and more gripping. This loose execution might be a letdown for some. Additionally, the editing also appears glitchy and absurd in some places, which can negatively impact your movie-watching experience. Nevertheless, the movie picks up in the second half, leaving the audience engaged.
Storyline: The story is about three air hostesses who are broke and decide to take a different flight in search of happiness. However, some people may find the story a bit unrealistic since it shows ordinary air hostesses becoming extraordinary overnight, which can be a little difficult to accept. As the movie proceeds ahead, the story becomes predictable and easygoing.
Star performance
Tabu portrays the character of Geeta Sethi, who dreams of opening a restaurant after her PF is cleared. Geeta lives a simple life with her husband Arun Sethi, and while her character is portrayed as calm and sensible, Tabu’s performance comes across as a bit too exaggerated at times. Despite being a brilliant actor, the character’s limitations either restricted her actions or made her appear too loud. Nonetheless, Tabu’s performance was enjoyable and exceptional. She looked no less than a diva.
Kareena Kapoor Khan portrays the character of Jasmine, who is a feisty and sassy woman. Despite having no money in her bank account, she leads a lively and daring life. Only Bebo could have done justice to her role, as she adds the perfect amount of edginess to her character. Kareena plays snooty characters with ease, which is evident in this movie. Additionally, Kareena looks stunningly beautiful and it must be said that she is ageing like fine wine. She is just FABULOUS!
Kriti Sanon plays the character of Divya Rana, who aspires to become a pilot but ends up settling for a job as a cabin crew member. Kriti portrays the role of a good-natured and well-behaved student with great conviction, without having to prove herself as a strong character. She appears natural and comfortable in her space while delivering a solid act.
Supporting cast
Diljit Dosanjh plays the character of police officer Jaiveer Singh, who can effortlessly win over your heart. Despite being a great actor, his talents are not fully utilized in this role. The character of Jaiveer Singh doesn’t hold much significance and could have easily been portrayed by any decent actor.
Rajesh Sharma as Mittal is hilarious and promising; however, Saswata Chatterjee is underused. Kapil Sharma as a special appearance adds no value to the story. But as per his performance, he was decent. Trupti Khamkar who plays the police officer is fantastic with her comic timing. She can easily make you laugh just by her mere expressions and that’s a talent.
Concluding the review, Crew is a commercial and entertaining film with less humour and more drama. The film is exhilarating, and the biggest attraction is the ensemble casting of the leading talented actresses, Tabu, Kareena Kapoor Khan, and Kriti Sanon. Crew is an ultra-glamorous movie that is worth watching at least once, as every frame looks spectacular.

Kriti Sanon, Kareena Kapoor and Tabu get thumbs up from fans
Kriti, Kareena and Tabu have impressed movie buffs with their acting prowess, glamour and humour. Crew is a comic take on a heist attempt carried by three air hostesses. A user while critiquing the film wrote, “#CrewReview Wow A Hilarious Ride With Out An Out Story and Screenplay, #KareenaKapoorKhan #Tabu #KritiSanon this Trio is Best In Recent times, #DiljitDosanjh #KapilSharma Both Rocking, USP Of the Film is The One Liners, A Must Watch (fire and 100 emojis). Four and half stars.”
Another netizen shared a poster of the film and captioned his tweet as, “Rating :~ (three and half star emojis) #Crew is an Outstanding Entertainer (tick emoji) Having Crisp Music, Comic Element, Electrifying performance by 3 Ladies. Dialogue, Direction...#KareenaKapoorKhan & #Tabu Shined Throughout the film While #KritiSanon was FIREE (fire emoji) Highly Recommended. (thumbs up and ok emojis). #CrewReview.”
While praising the comic elements an X user wrote, “#CrewReview (three and half stars emojis) #CrewMovie SUPER-HIT #Crew is Hilarious, Engaging, Funny, Entertaining and Electrifying Performances by #Tabu, #KritiSanon & #KareenaKapoorKhan (explosion emoji) Overall CREW will Surely Entertain You (star-shaped eye emoji) WATCH IT.”
A fan predicted the movie commercial success as he praised Kareena, Kriti and Tabu. He tweeted, “#CrewReview - SUPER HIT (fire emoji) The Storyline is brilliant, direction is phenomenal, #KareenaKapoor boldness, & #Tabu Glamour And #KritiSanon Amazing Performance is literally Winning Your Hearts, Comedy, Songs and emotional scene is fabulous. A Must Watch (4 stars emojis) #Crew.”
One of the users called the movie a ‘one-time watch’ on X and wrote, “The trailer promised a comedic adventure, but humour of the film fell flat and one liners were not quite hitting the mark. Yet, the story, emotional arcs, and of course, the charm of three beautiful ladies drive you through the end. decent one time watch! #CrewReview (three stars emojis)”
'Crew is a missed opportunity'
Movie critic and trade analyst Nishit Shaw tweeted, “Rating: (two and half stars emojis) #Crew is a MISSED OPPORTUNITY. The makers had everything at their disposal but what hampers the output is a not-so-convincing second half that is shot in a rushed way. #KareenaKapoorKhan, #KritiSanon, #Tabu & others are phenomenal but the writing is (two thumbs down emojis) #CrewReview #Crew’s merit is the first half which is ordinary but has a lot to offer. It is relatable, funny, emotional & also entertaining. The second half is a mess where everything seems to happen very fast. And because of the rushed pace, the events are not convincing. The BGM is nice, songs are fun & the ladies are fantastic. However the film could be a decent one time watch. The ending is a happy one but is abrupt. In simple words, quite an ordinary and a decent watch.”
A cinephile, disappointed with Crew, wrote, “A good first part is followed by an uninteresting and nonsensical second half in the film #Crew. Despite their good performances, the principal actresses overact in important sequences. It is best to ignore this movie as it is purely ordinary. Ratings: 2/5 #crewreview.”
Crew also features Diljit Dosanjh , Kapil Sharma , Rajesh Sharma and Saswata Chatterjee in crucial roles. It is jointly co-produced by Anil Kapoor, Rhea Kapoor, Ekta Kapoor and Digvijay Purohit. The movie released on March 29, 2024.

Crew Movie Review: Tabu, Kareena Kapoor Khan & Kriti Sanon risky golden affair is hugely entertaining
Bollywood heist films led by three smashing women Tabu, Kareena Kapoor & Kriti Sanon is a positive change when we look at female led films in mainstream cinema.
Language : Hindi
Cast: Tabu, Kareena Kapoor Khan, Kriti Sanon, Diljit Dosanjh, Kapil Sharma
Director: Rajesh A Krishnan
Tabu, Kareena Kapoor and Kriti Sanon’s Crew has smashed all stereotypes whether it is ageism or women led heist films. Most importantly Crew is a very honest film. You may ask why? When you are pushed against the walls, with no money in the bank and you have loans and children’s school fees to pay and your PF is stuck because the management and the owners are having a good time, what option do you really have? I am sure many people have gone through similar situations when the big bosses have real deep pockets, but when it comes to paying their employees, they are bankrupt.
In the film Crew , Geeta (Tabu), Jasmine ( Kareena Kapoor Khan ) and Divya (Kriti Sanon) work for Kohinoor Airlines, which has massive debts under its flamboyant owner Vijay Walia (Saswata Chatterjee) who has all the fancy money for his swanky lifestyle. But no money to pay his employees. It is indeed a tricky situation when the owners don’t pay salaries for months and you have your own responsibilities which many can’t understand. What do you do when you are completely under this pressure and how do you sail through this financial crisis? Too many questions, you may say. But I am sure when you have gone through this tough patch in your life you will understand it better.
After watching the film all of you will realise that there is a huge resemblance with another failed airline led by the King of Good Times with a very similar name of the owner. Crew reflects the true story of the underpaid middle class employees who struggle every single day of their life to meet ends while nothing changes for the bosses including their suits and boots.
But you cannot quit your job even when every single day you think of giving up because a lot of things are at stake including your provident fund. You slog at work and at home while your bosses have all the fun with your money. Nothing changes for them. In fact it gets better because they don’t have to pay their employees. They are actually having fun in their employees money throwing lavish parties, daughter’s wedding, designer clothes and lot more. And there are always those one or two or maybe three frauds at the top who make all the money.
Very few can understand the struggles of middle class people in our society, though they are the majority. Crew is a beautifully made movie with funny dialogues and most importantly when you have gorgeous ladies from different age groups playing their age as leads, it adds more zing to the look of the film.
All three leading ladies Tabu, Kareena Kapoor Khan and Kriti Sanon have done a brilliant job. It is the screen presence of all three leading ladies of Crew which makes it a delicious watch. But Kareena Kapoor Khan stands out with her performance. Her dialogue delivery is just too funny and those funny expressions will steal your heart. She displays the wickedness of her character with lot of style.
Kareena fits into the role perfectly especially in the scene where she is applying foundation and Geeta (Tabu) tells her ‘ Ma’dam foundation hai, time machine nahi’ . The way she mimics Geeta (Tabu) is hilarious. Basically what Geeta (Tabu) meant to say is you cannot conceal all with a concealer, especially your fine age lines and spots. At the end of the day age will show on your face no matter how much you try to hide behind make-up.
Tabu as usual is effortless in her craft. And most importantly she plays her age with a lot of grace. In fact, it was beautiful to see both Tabu and Kareena Kapoor owing their age and most importantly celebrating it which is so unlike any other Bollywood film. Kriti Sanon ’s performance is getting better with in every film that I watch of hers. Diljit Dosanjh and Kapil Sharma make a special appearance in Crew, but leaves an impactful impression.
On the whole , Crew is an entertaining and delectable film with hard realities of being a middle-class in India when you have to show to the world that all is fine, when in reality everything around you is falling apart. It is indeed an art to deliver a serious message with a hilarious tone.
Rating: 3 and half out of 5

Crew Review: A Heist Film Out To Deliver Some Harmless Fun
Crew review: kareena kapoor turns the clock back a bit and lets her hair down without a care in the world. she comes up trumps. tabu, too, rises above the din despite being saddled with a rather sketchily delineated character who has to carry much of the film's weight on her shoulders..
A still from Crew . (courtesy: rheakapoor )
A rambunctious and covetous trio of flight attendants steer Crew , a crime comedy that is at best a fits-and-starts affair. The low-yield film taxis to its designated runway without any visible hitch but, once airborne, runs into strong head winds and many an uncomfortable wobble.
The positives first. Yes, there are a few, not the least of which is Kareena Kapoor, who turns the clock back a bit and lets her hair down without a care in the world. She comes up trumps. Tabu, too, rises above the din despite being saddled with a rather sketchily delineated character who has to carry much of the film's weight on her shoulders.
That apart, at a time when a segment of Bollywood is busy foisting selective history lessons and polarizing propaganda movies upon us, a heist film out to deliver some harmless fun without an agenda, not even a feminist one (which would be in order anyway), should be lauded for being what it is - an unapologetic caper about the rich robbing the nation and three representatives of a struggling middle class seeking to pay the wealthy back in their own coin.
It is another matter that Crew would have been much more fun if only it knew how to buoy things up with strokes of genuine inspiration. Yes, that is what is sorely missing in a film that goes for gold but fails to find a source of sustained sparkle.
The screenplay by Nidhi Mehra and Mehul Suri lacks sheen of the kind that could take our attention away from the film's drawbacks. It tries its darndest to be funny. It succeeds only sporadically and mildly.
Three feisty ladies who are not averse to bending the rules to further their own ends drive the film. They do not, however, stand on a soap-box and speak of empowerment and gender equality. They have achieved both in no uncertain terms. Their fight is against the aviation company that they work for and against their own lot in life.
The film's protagonists, airhostesses who haven't been paid their salaries for six months, stumble upon a golden opportunity when their in-flight supervisor (Ramakant Dayama) drops dead some 35,000 feet in the air. They grab it with gusto only to discover soon enough that the pursuit of gold - essential as it is - has its share of pitfalls.
Tabu plays Geeta Sethi, a former Miss Karnal who is happily married but spends her waking hours fretting over unpaid wages and mounting loan defaults. Kareena Kapoor is cast as Jasmine Kohli, who has been raised by her maternal grandfather (Kulbhushan Kharbhanda). Even as she struggles to pay her house rent, the spirited woman dreams of owning a beauty products company. Her mantra: always have a Plan B.
Kriti Sanon is Divya Rana, a class topper from a nondescript Haryana town with an airstrip that has never been put to any use. She is a trained pilot but as a result of a downturn in the aviation industry has had to settle for the job of a cabin crew member. She conceals the fact from her parents for the fear of breaking their hearts.
Geeta, Jasmine and Divya, who are thick as thieves but have their friendship frequently tested, do not shy away when the chance to alter their destiny comes their way. But they have an unrelenting Customs official, Sub-Inspector Mala (Trupti Khamkar, who steals some of the leading ladies' thunder), to reckon with.
Acting on a tip-off, the sub-inspector orders a thorough search of the aircraft that Geeta, Jasmine and Divya are on. The three ladies are forced to deboard. They are under scanner on suspicion of smuggling gold from Mumbai to a fictitious Middle Eastern country.
This is the point where Crew begins. The film circles back to the same juncture at the intermission mark. The second half loses power rather quickly because nothing that the protagonists do to set things right for themselves has any element of surprise.
Hang on, there's one. Customs official Jaiveer Singh (Diljit Dosanjh in a guest appearance) pops up and the film perks up just a tad. Divya knows him, having once had a brief encounter with him after a pint of beer. Will the man bail the girls out for old time's sake?
Crew is director Rajesh A. Krishnan's first theatrical release. He debuted on a streaming platform in 2020 with the lively Lootcase . The two films, poles apart in terms of scale and ambition, are bound by their absurdist overtones and an empathy with victims of an economic system in which the rich get richer and the poor survive on unrealised aspirations.
The three principal characters of Crew are, however, not the kind who are given to playing victims. The men in their lives are nice blokes. Geeta's husband (Kapil Sharma in a special appearance) stands by her through thick and thin. Jasmine's grandpa is both pal and protector. And the guy who flits in and out of Divya's life - Jaiveer - can charm the birds from the trees without lifting a finger.
Promoted Listen to the latest songs, only on JioSaavn.com
All that the girls demand is a better deal from life and the moneybags who control it. They are done with their fake lives and faux vibes - best illustrated by Jasmine when she filches a Louis Vuitton bag to click a selfie with. They are now ready to turn the tables on their exploiters no matter what the consequences are. There is much potential in here that remains untapped.
Crew is a flight that never reaches cruising altitude. It runs low on fuel precisely when it is time to get off the ground. Stuck on a narrative tarmac strewn with predictable inanities, the film is undoubtedly pretty to behold thanks to all the glamour and sass that the three lead actresses bring to the table. But all the beauty that we see on the screen is only skin-deep.

Crew Trailer Review: Tabu, Kareena Kapoor Khan & Kriti Sanon Are Ready To Risk It To Steal Our Hearts!
Rajesh a krishnan has directed crew, and the trailer looks quite exciting..
Rajesh A Krishnan has directed Crew, and the trailer looks quite exciting. Tabu, Kareena, and Kriti’s characters work at Kohinoor Airlines as cabin crew members. The three ladies are frustrated with earning peanuts as their salaries. They even wonder if their company has gone bankrupt.
The ladies wished their lives would take an unexpected turn and they would get everything they wanted. However, their wish comes true in a twisted way. A rich man with gold bars tied to his body dies on one of their flights. So what do they do with the gold bars? It’s a moral dilemma. There’s a secret they try to keep, but it seems like someone knows what they’re up to.
The Crew trailer has incredible humour and fun camaraderie between the three ladies. We know that Tabu can easily pull off such characters that use cuss words. But seeing Kareena and Kriti go all bold and fearless is something that interests us. It will be a fun journey, and we can’t wait to see what more there is on this bumpy plane ride!
Crew Trailer Still
Director Raj Krishnan impressed us with Lootcase in 2020. It was also a story about wicked people who would do anything to get their hands on money to change their lives. It’s a familiar subject for him so we hope he delivers an entertaining film again. The cast is brilliant, and the music is already a hit. So let’s hope Raj treats us with one of the best movies of 2024 featuring the fantastic female talents from Bollywood.
Watch the Crew Trailer Below –
Nidhi Mehra and Mehul Suri wrote the story of Crew. The film also stars Diljit Dosanjh and Kapil Sharma . The film will release in theatres on March 29, 2024.

The Crew Review: An Explosive Russian Blockbuster
Originally titled Ekipazh and renamed The Crew for the English speaking market, The Crew is a Russian action movie directed by Nikolay Lebedev (Legend No.19) and is a remake of the 1979 movie of the same name.
The story revolves around a flight crew who risk their lives by their utilizing commercial planes to save those trapped by lava flows from an erupting volcanic island.
Cinematically revolutionary in Russia, The Crew is only the second Russian film shot using 3D IMAX cameras. Filmed in Moscow and on the Crimean peninsula the crew used two planes and perfectly blended practical and CGI effects to create a visually stunning spectacle.
It seems as thou Russians are a fan of spectacle rather than substance. What The Crew lacks in depth of story it more than makes up for with cinematic brilliance. The budget was roughly $9m but it looks and feels like a movie five times bigger than the budget would suggest.
The images just pop off the screen and the set pieces blended with the action sequences are right up there with such movies as Deepwater Horizon . American disaster movies such as San Andreas , for example, have moments where the CGI is so embarrassingly obvious.
The Crew doesn’t have this issue as everything feels seamless and deadly realistic. Hats off to all those involved in making the film look as vibrantly stunning as it does.
The Crew_Trailer from TriCoast Studios on Vimeo .
Danila Kozlovsky, Vladimir Mashkov and Lithuanian actress Agne Grudite put in wonderful performances but sadly the film is English dubbed and this was an issue for me. I’m not a big fan of dubbed movies, the voice acting is usually terrible and with The Crew, this was no different.
We had big bulky Russian men being voiced by younger polite English men and it just felt weird. I hope that the DVD release has the original Russian version with subtitles as the horrible voice acting diminished the wonderful performances that I could see on screen.
The movie oozes the confidence of a Hollywood blockbuster and wouldn’t feel out of place amongst it’s US counterparts. I’ve read some mixed reviews about the film where they say the script isn’t as strong as many Hollywood disaster movies. I’m not entirely sure which movies they’re comparing this particular feature too but disaster movies over the last 5 years have been truly lacking in the script department.
No one really cares about the script when you have a giant volcano exploding or an earthquake reducing a city to ashes. If you want script substance, go and watch a well-crafted drama instead.
What this movie does so well is that it gives us an early slow burn then the second the plane touches down on the volcanic island the action becomes relentless. The movie never holds up for one second and that’s exactly what you want as a viewer.
When you watch a sports match that is an end to end spectacle you don’t want it to end. The Crew stored all that energy and brilliance and dragged it out for the duration keeping you hooked throughout.
As it stands, I’d give this movie 4-stars but only for the original Russian version. Throw in the cheesy and hilariously awful English voice dub and it becomes more of a comedic affair despite the scenes on screen. Hopefully, the DVD comes with an English-subtitled version. It really shouldn’t have been dubbed whatsoever.
This summer, TriCoast Entertainment will bring The Crew to the U.S. and VOD platforms on June 25 th .
A disaster movie doesn’t need a deep and meaningful script. It doesn’t need character depth and forced plots. It needs to project a sense of doom, death and disaster and The Crew does that in spades.
Beautiful cinematography mixed with a production value so much higher than its budget may suggest. The Crew is an all out action disaster movie that kept me gripped, intrigued and hooked from start to finish.

Crew is an easy, breezy film. Sure, it's not the perfect movie - the humour doesn't always work and the heist is very basic, but it is still a fun watch. The three protagonists are likeable, and the motive behind their quirky criminal escapades make this film worth watching on the big screen.
