Educator ~ researcher ~ designer ~ developer, educational technology conferences 2023 & 2024.

The following list was adapted from  Clayton R. Wright’s Educational Technology and Education Conferences List #48 . Please refer to Wright’s complete list for other conferences as well as each conference website for more details. Each year I attend AECT, AERA, and 1-2 other local or regional conferences. I use this list to identify what conferences I might attend. Thus, this list is focused on my research interests and/or convenient or interesting locations. Double-check each conference because some more are bound to be canceled.

Starting this year, the T4E conference has expanded its scope as well as its full form, reflecting 4 perspectives to view the connections between technology and education, i.e.

T4E – Technology for, of, in, across education

  • Technology for education: Development of tools to support learning, teaching and various aspects of education
  • Technology of education : Understanding the processes and conditions in which learning and teaching take place within technology-supported environments
  • Technology in education: Using technology to support learning and teaching in various contexts; pedagogical strategies for technology-enhanced learning
  • Technology across education: Using technology to enhance access to education across geographies, educational levels and societies

In this spirit, T4E 2023 will provide a forum to bring together researchers, teachers, students, developers and practitioners widely interested in understanding ways in which learning and teaching can be enhanced with technology as well as new roles for technology in educational processes. We invite submissions from participants in universities, colleges, schools, industry, government organizations and NGOs to share their work in this emerging interdisciplinary area. The conference will aim to address the needs and interests of different participants via a variety of session formats, including paper sessions, poster sessions, interactive workshops, best practices sessions, teaching demos and tool / product showcases.

Mark Your Calendars: Top Tech Conferences in April 2024

Optimism around artificial intelligence (AI), the ubiquity of cloud computing, and the necessity of cybersecurity measures are expected to drive technology spending this year, analysts say. With that in mind, check out five of the most important conferences this month.

top tech conferences in April 2024

  • Spiceworks News & Insights brings you important technology conferences and a single point of curated event catalog for April 2024.
  • Check out five of the most important conferences scheduled for this month.

The technology industry is expected to post “modest” growth in 2024, something to cheer about as recessionary and inflationary forces due to global geopolitical upheavals and other supply constraints subside.

In The State of IT 2024: How Does Your Organization Compare? , Aberdeen Strategy & Research discovered that 66% of organizations plan to increase IT investments in 2024. Correspondingly, Deloitte noted in the 2024 Technology Industry Outlook report that 55% of the executives it polled in Q4 2023 rated the tech industry as “healthy” or “very healthy,” while 62% expect it to hold this level six months from now.

Meanwhile, Gartner expects worldwide IT spending to increase by 6.8% to almost $5 trillion in 2024, driven by software and IT services.

Optimism around artificial intelligence (AI), the ubiquity of cloud computing, and the necessity of cybersecurity measures are expected to drive technology spending this year, Deloitte said.

Last month at NVIDIA GTC 2024, the industry saw the possibilities with new hardware and the sheer computing power available. This month, expect a closer look at software, Google’s cloud-based service ambitions and Intel’s vision, and a dive into the data that powers it all.

Check out Spiceworks News & Insights’ picks for tech conferences to watch in April 2024.

Launch of the 2024 Gender Report: Technology on her terms

The 2024 Gender Report delves into the nuanced dynamics of gender and technology within educational settings, acknowledging the potential of technology to transform learning experiences while also recognizing its role in perpetuating existing disparities. The report shows that gender divides exist at all stages of intersections between technology and education. These begin with gaps in the initial access to technology through to how girls and boys study subjects that lead to careers in technology development. The result is a vicious cycle within which girls are constantly on the back foot, ultimately unable to alter the stereotypes and gender bias in technology that might leave them excluded in the first place.

Entitled Technology on her terms,  the report is divided into two parts. The first part reviews progress on gender parity in education for most SDG 4 targets, documenting the continuing growth in girl's and young women’s participation in education at different levels, which has helped reverse decades of discrimination. The second part, assesses gender gaps that have emerged in many countries in terms of access to technology and education and social outcomes, ranging from digital skills to exposure to various risks. This part also discusses how gender disparities, start early, with math anxiety among girls and lack of self-efficacy feeding into later subject choices and careers.

The 2024 Gender Report will be launched on 25 th April on Girls in ICT Day.
