The Sims 4 Discover University: Guide to Academic Success

11 13 19 4 26 20 AM

Presented by EA Game Changers

Getting into university is one thing; excelling in university is quite another. For most people, the joys of university lie in balancing work with pleasure. A little studying here, a little partying there, leading to an overall well-rounded university experience.

This guide is not for the casual university student. This guide will walk you through how to throw yourself completely into your education in order to achieve the best grades (and the best future) possible. Throw away your juice kegs and break out those textbooks because school is all you’re going to know for the next three terms.

For a breakdown on scholarships and applying to university, see our guide, Discover University: Applying to University !

Class Selections

The Sims 4 Discover University: Guide to Academic Success

Of course, it all starts with enrolling and selecting your degree and classes. No matter which degree you pursue, you’ll have to select up to 4 classes per term. Classes change every term so you’ll see new ones available every time you select your classes at the start of term. You can’t change which classes you’ll be taking for your degree; you can only choose the number of classes.

However, Sims have the option of enrolling in 1 elective each term. Electives are fun classes that focus on skills outside of your degree and you will be able to select which elective your Sim will take that term. There are all kinds of electives that span a wide variety of skills. Electives are fully integrated across all packs, so depending on which add-on content you have installed, you may see different electives for skills from different packs.

Electives are optional; your Sim doesn’t need to take any electives at all, but if they do choose to take an elective, they can only take up to 3 other classes. Sims are limited to 4 classes per term in total, so either 4 classes, or 3 classes and 1 elective.

Our recommendation? Take 3 classes and 1 elective every term for maximum academic success. Electives still count as credits towards your degree so taking an elective doesn’t hurt your progress at all, plus your Sim will graduate with a few extra skills thanks to the electives they took.

The Sims 4 Discover University: Guide to Academic Success

One term last 5 working days. There is no way to shorten or lengthen a term. They are fixed periods. Sims can begin a new term anytime during the week, but weekends don’t count as term days. If your Sim starts a new term on a Friday, the term won’t end until Thursday the following week. Starting a new term in the middle of the week can be a good academic strategy for dedicated students because it will give them the weekend to catch up on homework and final assignments.

How many terms your Sim needs to complete in order to graduate is entirely dependent on how many classes they decide to take per term. A Sim needs to earn 12 credits in order to graduate.

Here is the breakdown of how many terms your Sim will need to complete based upon their classes:

  • 4 classes per term = 3 terms (15 working days)
  • 3 classes per term = 4 terms (20 working days)
  • 2 classes per term = 6 terms (30 working days)
  • 1 class per term = 12 terms (60 working days)

These calculations are based on the assumption that your Sim completes the same number of classes every term. It is possible to take a different number of classes each term (4 classes one term, 2 the next term, for example), in which case the number of terms needed to graduate will vary.

Even if a Sim only takes 3 terms to graduate, they will still spend the majority of their young adult life in university; however, unlike past Sims games, your Sims are not trapped on campus with no way to work or live a life outside of university. Sims can live wherever they want, have a job, and raise a family while going to school, so this balances things out. If the length of university is not ideal for your play style, we recommend turning aging off in the game options while your Sim is in university. That way, they don’t lose any time to climb a career ladder or pursue other life goals.

Of course, you will want to be taking 4 classes every term for maximum efficiency. Sims who don’t mind sacrificing their social life and plan to devote all their time to their studies should take a full course load every term.

Attending Classes

The Sims 4 Discover University: Guide to Academic Success

It’s important to actually attend class in order to get the most out of your university education. Missing class will hurt your grades. Sims in the area will autonomously try to get to class a little early. Sims who’ve arrived to class early will wait outside the building with the other early bird students. This can be a good time to get some last minute homework finished or to quickly finish the rest of that coffee and snack you purchased to-go at the cafe vendor.

While your Sim is inside the classroom rabbithole, they will have various options available to them by clicking on their portrait, much like the different work options for inactive careers. Click the class icon on the Sim’s portrait to see the various actions they can take in class. Sims can Actively Listen, Take Notes, Sleep in Class, or Chat with Friends. To get the most out of every class, make sure your Sim is taking notes or actively listening. I’m sure we don’t need to tell you that sleeping in class and chatting with friends are not good ways to improve your grades.

If you’re taking a full course load, it’s likely that your Sim will have more than one class in a day, or even back to back classes. Make sure to check the career panel often to keep track of your class schedule so you can budget your time for homework, finals, and self-care effectively.

Ideally, you will want your Sim to attend every single class with all of their homework completed and taking an active role in the class while they are there. This will ensure your Sim gets the most out of their classes and, in turn, gets the best grades at the end of term.

The Sims 4 Discover University: Guide to Academic Success

Every course your Sim takes has homework due before every class. When your Sim enrolls in university, they are automatically given a homework notebook in their personal inventory. Sims can complete homework for all their classes using this notebook. Homework takes some time to complete, but Sims with high enough Research & Debate skill complete homework faster.

Sims who stay on top of their homework and pay attention in class will get more out of attending classes and it will have a positive impact on their final grade. Always complete homework before every class and actively pay attention in class for maximum academic success.

In addition to homework that must be completed on a regular basis throughout the term, each class also has a final. Finals are very important and worth a large chunk of your grade. Skipping out on your finals will have a big negative impact on your final grade, so make sure you complete all of them.

Each class will have different requirements for its final. Some classes will require your Sim to write a term paper. Others have final exams and presentations. Look at your class schedule in the career panel to see what’s required of each class.

The Sims 4 Discover University: Guide to Academic Success

Exams take place during the last class of the term. If your Sim has done all their homework and attended all their classes, they’re likely to do well on their exam, but Sims can also study for a class using a course book purchased from the university kiosk, a computer, or research station to boost their chances of doing well on their exam.

Don’t miss your final exam! Failing to write the exam results in a big fat zero and will seriously hurt your final grade!

PSST! You can also cheat on your exam by selecting the option on your Sim’s portrait while they’re in the exam… but you would never do that… would you? Getting caught has serious consequences.

Term Papers

The Sims 4 Discover University: Guide to Academic Success

Term papers can be written on the computer under the University menu option. A Sim can write and submit a term paper for a class at any point during the term, so dedicated Sims might want to get these out of the way early.

Term papers take a long time to complete, but Sims with high enough Research & Debate skill complete term papers faster. The first draft of a term paper is usually poor quality. Your Sim can submit poor quality term papers, but f they want the best grade, they should spend some time editing their paper before they submit it.

Term papers can be edited until they are outstanding quality. You’ll receive a notification telling you that your term paper won’t benefit from any further editing once your Sim has increased its quality to outstanding. Scrolling over the term paper option in the computer’s menu will tell you the quality of the term paper.

When your Sim is satisfied with the quality of their paper, they can submit it using the computer.

PSST! You can also plagiarize your term papers by selecting the plagiarize option on the computer… but you would never do that… would you? Getting caught has serious consequences.

Presentations

The Sims 4 Discover University: Guide to Academic Success

Your Sim will receive a presentation board in their personal inventory at the start of term for any classes that have a presentation requirement as their final. Presentations function similar to term papers; your Sim will need to compile all of their material on the board, then refine the presentation board until it’s suitable to present in class.

To start, drag the presentation board out of your Sim’s inventory and into the world somewhere, then choose the Capture Information option on the board. Your Sim will spend some time compiling all their material for their presentation onto the board. When they’ve finished, they will have a poor quality presentation board. You can see the board’s quality by hovering over it.

Sims can improve the quality of their presentation by refining and organizing it, and asking other Sims for feedback on their presentation. They can also practice their presentation. Practicing presentations builds the Charisma skill. Once the board cannot be improved any further, you will receive a notification informing you that your Sim’s presentation board looks great and that continuing to fiddle with it won’t improve it any more.

When your Sim is satisfied with the quality of their presentation, they can go to class with the presentation board in their inventory and present it. Presentations do not take place during regular classes; your Sim must click on the class rabbithole and select the presentation option. Presentations can only be given during the day. Your Sim won’t be able to present in the middle of the night.

Final Grades & Starting a New Term

The Sims 4 Discover University: Guide to Academic Success

If your Sim has done all their homework, attended every class as an active participant, and completed all their finals with outstanding quality, they should have no trouble getting an A+ grade in every class. However, perfect grades don’t come easy. You’ll find that your Sim has little to no time for extracurricular activities, organizations, or socialising when they are taking 4 classes and trying to achieve an A+ grade in every single one of them. University is definitely a rewarding challenge in The Sims 4 , just like in the real world.

Since grades aren’t given out until the end of term, it’s up to your Sim to take a proactive approach to finding out how they’re doing in their classes. They can visit their professors during their office hours or email them on the computer to get an idea of how they’re performing in their classes and how they can improve.

Once all coursework has been submitted, your Sim will be free to enjoy themselves (for once) while their final grades are being processed. Once the final grades are in, you’ll receive a popup with all your final grades for each class, as well as your overall GPA.

From there, you can choose to enroll in another term right away, or take some time off before starting a new term. If your Sim has any scholarships, they must enroll in a new term immediately or they will lose their scholarships. Tuition costs for the new term will be handled at this point as well. Sims can pay with household funds or take out a loan to pay any tuition costs for the new term that scholarships don’t cover.

Your Sim will also be given the opportunity to make different housing arrangements at the start of each new term. They can choose to stay wherever they are currently living, or move somewhere else. This change does not happen right away. Your Sim will have about a day left in their old residence, which gives them an opportunity to pack up any personal items they may have purchased for their living space. A small “Packing Up” event will occur a couple hours before the move to remind your Sim to gather up their things, too.

As long as your Sim continues on the path to success they started in their first term, all their future terms are bound to result in perfect A+ grades across the board. Keep doing that homework, working on those finals, and paying attention in class!

The Sims 4: How to do Homework

Homework in The Sims 4 is a necessary evil and a part of everyday life for most people IRL so it makes sense that it would be inside a life simulation game. From the time your sims turn into children until they’ve graduated University they are going to be doing homework and it will take up a significant part of their lives.

There are actually a few hacks you should know to get your sims to have more fun when doing homework, get it done quicker, and just generally finish it in a timely fashion that will make you a better sims player.

How to Do Homework for Children

When a sim’s kid returns from their long day at school they are going to have a little orange book inside of their inventory which is their homework. This should be completed before they attend school again which is usually the next day unless it’s the weekend.

You can get your sims to start doing their homework by clicking on the homework book in their inventory and choosing do homework . Your sims will find the nearest place to sit (even on the ground) to start working on their homework and will work until they are finished unless they are interrupted by low needs or an event trigger like a fire.

Any adult can come over to this sim while they are doing their homework and you can choose help with homework which will get the adult involved and sitting with the child and they will get their homework done much quicker.

There is even a system for sims kids (not teens) where if your kid gets all of the four children skills to level 3 they’ll have the option to breeze through homework instead of do homework and this will get the job done quicker.

Getting these skills all to level 7 will give them the option to dominate homework which will get it done even more quickly. This is a nice hack to really finish it without it being a huge part of their day.

Once a child has finished their homework, if they have a B or higher in school, they actually have the option to do extra credit after they’ve finished their regular homework. This is good for you if you want to get your sims to increase their school performance.

If you ever find your sims without a homework book in their inventory and you have no idea where it could be you can actually purchase these for one simoleon on any book case!

How to Do Homework for Teens

Homework works pretty much the same way for teens except their homework book is a nice blue colour instead of the orange that kids get. To get them to work on their homework you’ll get them to go into their inventory and click on it and choose do homework and they will start working on it.

They too have the option to have an adult sim to help with homework by getting that sim to click on them when they’ve started their homework and getting them to assist to make it go more quickly.

Once a teenager has a B in school they have the option to do extra credit after they’ve finished their regular homework. This will help them increase their school performance and get to an A as soon as possible.

Bonus Tip: Use the earbuds from The Sims 4: Fitness Stuff Pack when doing homework to keep your sims fun need up so they aren’t feeling tense when they’re done working on it.

School Projects

With The Sims 4: Parenthood there’s a pretty decent chance each week that your sims kids will come home with a school project that they can decide to complete for a boost to their grades. If they don’t complete it within a few days they may get a small decrease to their school grades but it’s not substantial.

These projects come home with your sims in their inventory and are rather easy to complete. They have the option to work on it either carefully or sloppily. Choosing sloppily will get the job done quicker, however, you won’t see a huge increase to their grades but you also won’t see a decrease.

The better option is to work carefully so your sims can improve their school grades. While they are working on these projects they’ll actually gain a skill depending on the type of homework they are working on. For sims kids they’ll be skills like mental, creativity, etc. but for teenagers it’ll be more specific like rocket science or painting .

One awesome thing is that you can get other sims to assist in the project up to 3 sims so you can get these projects done extremely quickly and if an adult sim who has a high skill in the project type assists it’ll go so quickly.

Working on these will also increase your sim’s kids’ responsibility character value which is awesome but failing to complete it will negativity impact this.

How to Do Homework in University

With the 2019 addition of The Sims 4: Discover University we have a whole new type of homework for your sims to have to work on. These homework books are going to be a black and white composite notebook that will appear in your sims inventory when they enroll in their first semester of university.

Each time your sim goes to a class they are going to need to do their homework before they attend that class if they want to get a good grade, meaning that if you’re taking multiple classes your sim will be needing to do homework multiple times per week.

To get this University homework done you’ll want to click on the homework book and choose which class’ homework you actually want to work on and get started. You don’t have to do it all in one sitting so you can start and stop as many times as you want.

An awesome detail about University homework is that if your sims have a high level of the research and debate skill they’ll actually breeze through their homework much more quickly. You can also add the study spot lot trait to your sim’s lot to make it easier.

Final Thoughts

Homework is something you can’t avoid if you want your sims to do well in school when they’re young, but there’s no need to stress about it. Sims grades won’t affect their later days work performance or the overall success in their life, so no worries if you don’t get it done. Happy Playing!

I've been playing the Sims since the first game was released when I was only 5 years old. It's been a huge passion of mine for two decades and I've loved every single minute of it. I also love dogs. And grilled cheese sandwiches. And I think me and Bob Pancakes could be friends.

It do work!

Doing a 4 course in sims 4 is a real tedious chore. It will consume all your sims time and you won’t have time to do anything else. They did this way worse than sims 3 university.

There are a few tricks mind you! First of all you can be at home instead, makes it all much easier and you can(like mentioned above) add the “study spot” trait to your home.

The next trick is using the club! Make sure, if you go to the university, add everyone you see to your club. Focus on getting “Rally the Troops” perk. That will allow you to get back all your energy and other needs quickly whenever you want. There is no cooldown on this. It requires 500 points so it’s not bad at all. Just make sure the gathering is on at all times(which it should be since you most likely won’t be leaving the lot). The homework perk does not work for university.

EA could easily have fixed this by reducing the homework time from 2 hours to 1 hours imo. They made it too much of a chore. It’s a GAME after all.

But that’s the whole challenge bruh

How to Complete Coursework

In The Sims 4: Discover University , your Sim will need to pass their classes in order to graduate with their chosen Degree, which includes completing Coursework like written papers and taking exams.

This guide teaches you everything you need to know about How to Complete Coursework in TS4, including writing and submitting papers, taking exams, and creating a presentation.

Click on any of the links below to automatically scroll to that section of this guide:

What is Coursework in The Sims 4?

How to write a term paper, how to take final exam, how to give a presentation.

In the Discover University Expansion Pack, student Sims who have enrolled in a degree will have to attend classes to pass the semester (which lasts a week). Showing up isn't enough, though—it also includes Coursework.

Because university life is so hectic, you will need to make sure your Sim balances work and study because if they're too busy with a job to go to class and complete their Coursework, they won't be able to graduate.

Sims 4 writing.png

To learn more about Degrees, including types and what careers your Sim can go into after graduating, check out our Degrees guide .

There are three types of Coursework:

  • Written Term Paper
  • Presentation

You can view each class your Sim is signed up for and what Coursework they'll need to complete that semester by clicking on the Career tab on your hotbar (or simply press J).

Sims 4 coursework.jpg

To write a Term Paper, your Sim will need access to a PC. Click on the PC, then "University" > "University Coursework" > "Term Paper." Here, you'll see two options: "Write Term Paper" and "Submit Plagiarized Term Paper."

If you want your Sim to get a good grade, don't cheat as it's impossible to get an A with a fake paper. Instead, choose for them to write it themselves.

Sims 4 pc coursework.jpg

After a few hours, your Sim will have produced their first draft. You can choose to hand this in but for a better grade, go back to the PC and click on "Edit Term Paper". Do this multiple times until you get a notification popup that says it is the best it can be. Now you can "Submit Term Paper" from the computer.

In Discover University , doing the Final Exam is easy: your Sim just goes to class on one of the final days of the semester and takes it automatically. But this doesn't mean there isn't work to do, though. If you want your Sim to get a high grade, they need to study.

Click on a PC, then "University" > "University Coursework" > "Study" and then choose the class the Final Exam is for. For a good grade, it's ideal that they study at least twice—the more, the better. They may also need to study for more than one class if multiple have a Final Exam as Coursework so make sure they have enough time to fit it all in!

Sims 4 study.png

It is also a good idea to raise the Skill that the class is tied to; again, the higher the better. You can check this in the Career tab in your hotbar.

This is the most confusing piece of Coursework your Sim is given as the game does not mention what you need to do, leaving you to figure it out for yourself. Upon starting the semester, a Presentation Board will be put in your Sim's inventory which you must place in the world.

Have your Sim interact with the board and "Compile Information." They will spend an hour or two throwing ideas onto the board. You can submit it like this, but if you want a higher grade, you will need to "Refine and Organize" until a popup appears notifying you it's the best it can be.

Sims 4 presentation.png

If you "Practice Presenting," your Sim's Charisma Skill will increase—something that you should ideally make them do a couple of times as it can help with the grade. Once this is done, your Sim will now be ready to hand their Presentation in.

Presentations can only be handed in during school hours: from Monday to Friday between 8AM and 4PM. Your Sim will be in class for a couple of hours while they present.

Sims 4 final presentation.jpg

Homework is separate from Coursework but is just as important. It is a daily task, meaning you'll have to do it for each of your Sim's classes every day. It takes a couple of hours to complete it for each class.

To do Homework, go to your Sim's inventory and you'll see a black and white class book. You can either click it from the inventory itself or place it in the world and then click it, but when you do, homework options for each of your Sim's classes will pop up.

Your Sim will go and sit down somewhere to finish their homework, and their progress can be tracked in the Action Queue on the bottom left. The more homework your Sim does, the better their grade will be for that class at the end of the semester.

When you think of gaming, homework probably is the furthest thing from your mind– but in the Sims 4, knowing how to do homework is the key to becoming a successful student, integral with the parenting skill, and impacts your Sims’ life in a few ways.

One thing’s for certain: whether you’re trying to raise a family, or cramming study sessions in between dorm parties, knowing how to do homework is a must in the Sims 4– and there’s more to it than you might think. Consider this your guide to homework, and all things related, in the Sims 4.

Homework in Sims: A Brief History

Homework has been signature gameplay in the Sims franchise. As a life simulator, it only makes sense that, just like players have to contend with paying bills, cleaning dirty dishes, and juggling careers with relationships, parenting, and everyday life. And it’s actually rather interesting to see how doing homework in the Sims has been important from generation to generation, but also evolved.

Here’s a Sparknotes version of the history of homework in the Sims franchise.

how do you do homework in sims 4 university

Homework was not a mainstay of the original Sims game, but it was in the Sims 2. In the Sims 2, homework was important for teens, kids, and the then-new young adult life stage.

Children and Teens

A child and teen in the Sims 2 were required to go to school (with options for both public and private). Homework was generated daily. After the bus brought the kid home, that child Sim would have a physical copy of homework in their hand. Normally, homework would be set on a desk or nearby surface, though I remember many times it would just as often be placed on the ground. Completing homework had a direct effect on the Sims’ grades. Every day without incomplete homework resulted in a deduction.

A teen’s homework was a duller color, compared with the bright hues of a kid’s homework. If a Sims’ needs were not met, then they would likely not finish homework. When a Sim aged up, their homework automatically disappeared.

There were a few basic interactions for children and teens with homework in the Sims 2.

  • Work on Homework
  • Complete Homework
  • Ask for Homework Help — this could be asked of any older Sim, and not only helped Sims complete homework more quickly, but also allowed them to complete homework more efficiently in the future.

Young Adults

Young adults were introduced in the Sims 2 University expansion pack, and have since become perhaps the most popular life stage in the Sims franchise. In the Sims 2, this life stage was limited to the University expansion. These young adults worked on assignments in order to influence their grades. It worked in a similar way as with kids and teens, though in addition to homework, they also had exams to deal with.

Sims 3 continued the homework system from Sims 2, making it clear that doing homework would become an expected gameplay feature in the Sims franchise. In many ways, Sims 3 kept the same basic systems for homework intact but enhanced it through new traits, packs, and an updated interface.

School, again, was mandatory for children in the Sims 3 , with a new boarding school option for no private school. If a Sim was sent to boarding school, there was nothing that you needed to worry about in terms of completing homework. Otherwise, it worked more or less the same way: new homework was generated and had to be completed for every school day.

New features included:

  • The ability to do homework with a Sim of the same age
  • The ability to copy homework (which could send them to detention)
  • Ability to work on past due homework
  • Enhanced homework completion with the workaholic and bookworm traits or if your Sim was a vampire (Sims 3: Supernatural expansion)
  • Homework became a hidden skill
  • Sims with an A average could select their new trait when they became a teen or young adult
  • Grades listed in the new Simology panel

Young Adults (and Adults)

Sims who opted to attend college (via the Sims 3: University Life expansion pack), of course, had homework of their own. Homework, or assignments, were fairly similar to Sims 2, and, like Sims 2, the grades were determined by other factors like exams, but also somewhat how they behaved in their seminars, as well as outside projects.

Homework in the Sims 4- Your Guide

how do you do homework in sims 4 university

If you’ve played previous Sims games, the good news is that homework in the Sims 4 isn’t too different from previous Sims games. But like each generation, there are different tricks and tips you need to keep in mind to be successful, whether you are just looking to complete homework to help teens pass high school, or your Sims are tackling on a degree at the University of Britechester or Foxbury Institute of Technology.

Here’s what I think you need to know.

Children are required to go to school, and Sims 4 does arguably take a step back in that public school is the only option for children and teens.

Getting to School

In a curious move, Sims 4 does not have any transportation that picks Sims up. In fact, the lack of even cars in the game has been a source of contention. In any case, a school bus won’t pick up children or teens, nor can you watch them make their way to school, as you could in the Sims 3. Instead, children and teens will either automatically transport themselves to school, or you can prompt them.

Decisions During School

Especially if you have Sims 4 Parenthood game pack, you can influence teen and child Sims’ days at school, at least a little. Pop-ups may occasionally come up where you are given a scenario, just as another kid caught cheating, or your Sim being teased. Some of these will impact your Sim’s mood and social life. Sometimes, a child or teen will also ask for advice, which is tied to Sims 4 Parenthood parenting skills.

Locating Homework

As was the case with Sims 2, there is a small distinction in the appearance of children and teens’ homework. Children Sim will have a yellow Grade School Handbook, which, when not being worked on, is typically in their inventory. Teen homework is a blue notebook.

If you’re like me, though, sometimes homework gets lost in the house. If that happens you can actually purchase homework from a bookcase for a single simoleon. And unlike in the Sims 2, homework isn’t assigned to one Sim in particular, meaning a kid can complete their homework even if it wasn’t their original copy.

How to Do/ Complete Homework

To work on homework, simply drag it out of your Sims’ inventory and click on it for the “Do Homework” option. You can have your Sim to do homework all at once, or pick it back up after taking care of their needs. Remember, your teen or child Sim will be assigned homework every school day, with no new homework on weekends.

Homework and Grade Performance

Knowing how to do homework in Sims 4 is helpful for grade performance, but it also isn’t the only factor. In fact, by building skills, working on projects, and even keeping your Sims in a good mood, you can remain a fairly good student even when you skip homework from time to time.

Sims that are at a B or A average also will have access to the “Do Extra Credit” option. This pops up after they complete their homework for the day and you select their homework a second time (homework doesn’t disappear after being completed like previous Sims games). Extra credit is a chance to boost your Sims’ grades even more.

School Projects

School Projects are a unique feature exclusive to the Sims 4: Parenthood game pack. Available to teens and children, Sims can both work on their own projects and assist others. Working on a project builds all child skills at once.

Unlike homework, there is no official deadline for school projects so there aren’t penalties for however long it takes. Once a project is completed, the student can start on a new one. Adults can help both teens and kids; kids can be helped by teens/.

You’ll be able to select from one of seven projects, all available for purchase on build mode. The completed project will be rated as excellent, good, or poor. Siblings may get upset with one another if their project is destroyed by a brother or sister.

How to Do Homework Faster

I admit; sometimes I get impatient with doing homework in Sims 4, especially if I have other plans for the family. The good news is that, if you work on your Sims’ skills, you can speed up the process for children.

You’ll need to work equally on the four major skills for Sim Children: creativity; mental; motor; social; and mental. Level 3 of all of these allows you to “Breeze through Homework” while level 7 allows them to “Dominate Homework”.

For teens, your only real option is installing a mod (which I will discuss later).

University Students

how do you do homework in sims 4 university

Young adult and adult Sims can attend one of two campuses if you have the The Sims 4: Discovery University expansion pack installed. Homework, as you might imagine, is part of the equation–but the homework system looks different for adult and young adult Sims than it does for younger Sims, which impacts how you should do homework.

Getting Accepted

I won’t go into a full guide to the Discover University pack, but, in a nutshell, you Sim will have to first apply using a computer. Based upon their previous grades, skill set, and some other factors, they will either be offered or denied admission to the program of their choice at the University of Britechester of Foxbury Institute of Technology.

There is also the opportunity to gain scholarships and take out loans to finance their education. In my experience, most get accepted to school but may be limited to pursuing an honorary degree. Humanities-based degrees at Britechester, like English Literature, are honorary, while if you want a science or technology degree with distinction your Sim should attend the more modern Foxbury.

Homework Load at University

Homework is a part of the university experience in Sims 4, and doing it will help your Sims’ performance. Homework appears in their inventory (as a black and white book) and is meant to be completed before every class. You can also purchase homework from a bookshelf or the college’s kiosk (found out on the quad).

Classes are usually in the form of seminars and do not last all day, but your Sim, depending on your enrollment decisions, will likely have at least two classes per day, meaning you’ll have to juggle multiple assignments.

Other Types of Homework

In addition to doing daily homework, Sims need to attend class regularly. You’ll also be working towards end of the semester exams, final projects, and term papers, depending on the class. Doing homework daily is helpful in keeping their grade average high, and putting a little less pressure on a term paper. It is possible to flunk out of college, so doing homework on a regular basis and attending classes is a must.

How to Make Homework Easier

Knowing how to do homework doesn’t cut it, though. Between classes, roommates, parties, extracurriculars, and just taking care of basic needs, if you’re like me, you’ll want to tip things in your Sims’ favor a little. Here are some tips

  • Work on skills related to their major, or current classes
  • Keep your Sim in a good mood by keeping needs in check
  • Decorate your space with objects that exude a “Focused” mood (you can see this if you hover over objects in buy mode)
  • Lock your dorm room to other Sims when studying
  • Work on the Research and Debate skills
  • Study in the library or another place if your roommate is partying
  • Live off-campus and apply the “Study Spot” lot traits

Using Mods for Better Homework

If you know how to do homework in the Sims 4 but want it to run more smoothly, another option is to download a mod. I always caution that mods are at your own risk, and they can break, so make sure you check to see that the mod has been updated and that you’re downloading from a secure site.

Better Autonomous Homework by LittleMsSam

This mod fixes what many saw as a deficit in the Sims 4 homework system, by making sure that child Sims will do their homework without your prompting. Now and Sim with an A, B, or C average won’t require you to direct them to do their homework, at least initially.

There are optional add ons, too, such as careers affecting the speed they complete their homework; automatic transfer of homework to inventories when not in use; and a mod for NPCs. Read/ Download Here .

Faster Homework (University Edition) by Scarlet’s Mods

As the name suggests, this mod allows your Sims studying at college to do homework faster. While homework normally takes 150 Sim minutes to complete, this mod allows them to complete it in 10, 25 or 50 minutes. It’s truly a huge time saver. Read/ Download Her e.

Subject Homework by ScarletQueenKat

Subject Homework adds a little nuance and potential storytelling element for how to do homework for teens and kids in the Sims 4, all the while improving skills. Children will now be able to practice vocabulary (improves motor skill); review social studies (increases social skill) and do math problems (improves mental skill).

Teens can now solve algebra problems (increases logic skill); write a fitness article (raises fitness skill); practice creative writing (increases writing skill); and study music theory (improve the guitar skill).

Question: Where is homework located in The Sims 4?

Answer: You can find homework in your Sims’ inventory. Sometimes. Sims will work on it and place it elsewhere. If you lose homework, it can be purchased from a bookshelf for one simoleon, or at a University kiosk for college students.

Question: Can you grade homework in Sims 4?

If you have Sims 4 Discover University installed, you get an opportunity to grade homework if your Sim is in the Education Career. To grade homework, you need to navigate to the Education Career menu. From there, you can access student homework.

Final Thoughts

Knowing how to do homework in the Sims 4 can make your playing experience a lot easier. With the help of skills, and maybe some mods, homework will take up less of your gameplay time, while your Sims still stay top students–if they, and you, so choose.

Completing homework is just one way you can take control. If you need help getting your Sims to do homework in The Sims 4, we’re here to show you how.

Step-By-Step Guide to Doing Homework in The Sims 4

The Sims 4 How to Do Homework

How you perform homework depends on which stage your Sim is in their education. Here’s a detailed guide for doing homework across all ages in Sims 4.

Children – How to Do Homework in The Sims 4

To get your child to do homework, follow these steps:

  • Send your child to school.
  • When they return home, select the child and check their inventory . There should be an orange book – this is their homework book.
  • Click on the book and select Do homework . The child will sit down and begin completing the task.
  • If needed, an adult Sim can assist with their child’s homework, which will speed the process up.

Make sure your character completes their homework before the next school day for optimum performance at school.

Teens – How to Do Homework in The Sims 4

University Student – How to Do Homework in The Sims 4

To speed up the time it takes for your character to complete their university homework, try leveling up their Research and Debate skills. This will reduce the time taken to complete homework considerably.

By doing homework, your Sim will perform better at school, leading to better school grades . This will ultimately result in better job opportunities and higher wages. Additionally, you’ll be able to unlock several achievements by performing well at school.

If you’re wondering how to do homework, Sims 4 is way easier and more fun than real life! One of the unique aspects of Sims 4 is how it mimics real-world experiences, including raising Sim children and boosting your Sim’s school performance. Understanding how to help with homework is challenging, especially with the complex updates since previous Sims games.

At That VideoGame Blog, we provide tips, tricks, and cheat codes for all the hottest games so you’ll never get stuck. For example, you can learn about the must-have traits for Sims 4 to better define how your Sims act.

Below, we discuss everything you need to know about homework in the Sims 4 universe!

What You Need To Know About Homework in the Sims Universe

Homework is nothing new to the Sims franchise. The game capitalizes on real-world chores, like doing the dishes, parenting children, paying bills, going to work, and juggling each life stage. The homework system evolved throughout Sims 2 and 3 to reach the level it’s at now, which we discuss in more detail below.

Kids Must Go to School

The game requires all child Sims to attend school. In previous games, you could choose the type of grade school your children and teens attended, though now public school is your only option. Fortunately, you can influence their mood and social life during the school day by helping them make decisions about social dilemmas.

For example, you might receive a notification about another child Sim cheating on a test or bullying the younger Sims. Parenting your Sim through these scenarios directly impacts their personality.

Adults Can Choose To Attend University

Young adult Sims can choose to further their education by attending a university. You can pick between two schools with the Discover University Expansion pack. Before attending, your Sims must apply, as real university students would.

The two university options, the University of Britechester or the Foxbury Institute of Technology, will analyze your Sim’s skills and grades before offering an acceptance or denial letter. You can also apply for scholarships and loans to help finance your Sim’s education. Once they attend school, they can choose a different degree like literature, electronic arts, science, technology, etc.

Every adult Sim attending a university must complete homework, just like the child Sims do, though they usually spend less time each day in class. University students must balance term papers, daily homework, extra credit, and exams while attending classes. Helping your older Sim stay on track with their university homework prevents them from failing the semester.

You Don’t Need to Worry About School Transportation

You’ll notice that Sims 4 doesn’t have a school bus or any other transportation system to get your child or teen Sims to school. Luckily, you don’t need to worry about walking them or watching them arrive. In Sims 4, all students automatically teleport to the necessary classroom at the appropriate times.

Locating Homework Gets Complicated

Keeping track of all the homework in the Sims 4 universe isn’t easy. Each student’s age group receives different homework books, so it’s important to keep them organized. The following key outlines each Sim’s homework book color by age:

  • Children: Yellow Grade School Handbook and orange homework book
  • Teen’s homework: Blue homework book
  • Adults: Black and white book (found in the Sims inventory)

You can purchase books and copies if your Sim loses the original version. We also recommend getting a bookcase to organize all homework books in your house. Adult students can purchase books and homework from the University Kiosk.

How To Do Homework: Sims 4

Now that you understand how homework functions, let’s discuss how to help your Sims family dominate homework. School work is a necessary evil in the game because Sims’ grades suffer when they skip homework or turn in incomplete homework.

Completing Homework for Sims 4 Kids

When your child Sim comes home from school, they’ll bring an orange book in their backpack with all their homework. You must have them complete homework before the next school day. Follow these instructions:

  • Open the Sim’s inventory for your younger Sims.
  • Click “Do homework.”
  • Aid them with any needs as they work.
  • Send an adult Sim to help with the child’s homework.
  • Click “help with homework” from the adult Sim’s inventory.
  • Increase child “skills” levels to complete homework faster (like the research and debate skill).
  • Once finished, have the Sim complete extra credit to boost homework grades.

Note that whenever you leave a Sim to do homework, they will continue working until finished unless they need something. Keep an eye on event triggers and low needs to ensure that your Sim child or teen continues working hard.

Helping Sim Teens Dominate Homework

Teenaged Sims complete regular homework just like the younger Sims. Once they’re home from school, open up the inventory menu and select the option to work on class homework. You can make one of your other Sims offer homework help to complete the process more quickly by following the same instructions above.

If your teen Sim has a B in the class, they can choose to do extra credit as well to boost their grades. Helping your teen Sim get an A improves their odds of getting accepted into a university.

We also recommend getting earbuds from the Fitness Stuff Pack to let your teens listen to music while they do homework. Sometimes grueling school hours can decrease fun levels, but music helps keep energy high.

Completing School Projects

Aside from regular homework, sometimes your family members bring home school projects. In Sims 4: Parenthood, you’ll likely see a school project at least once weekly.

Unlike homework, projects are semi-optional. If your Sim completes the work, their grade goes up, but if they don’t finish it in a few days, their grade will only go down a small amount.

You can have your Sims complete projects just as they do homework. The new homework project appears in the inventory, where you can prompt your Sim to begin working on it. You have two options to choose from when they do homework for a school project:

  • Sloppy : Letting your Sim do homework sloppily completes the project faster, though it offers smaller grade increases.
  • Careful : When Sims work carefully on a project, they boost their grades more and gain certain skills, depending on the project type. Child Sims might gain creativity or building skills while teens can acquire more specific ones like painting or rocket science skills.

To make the homework project fly by, you can have up to three Sims work on it together, including adults. We recommend assigning an adult with more advanced skills to help move things along. Once completed, any child Sims will receive improved responsibility character value scores.

Completing Adult Sim University Work

If you sign up for the University Expansion, you have the fun opportunity of sending your adult Sims to college. University homework is more advanced since it requires your Sims to do homework for multiple classes at once. Rather than doing one homework assignment daily, each Sim might need to complete two or three to prepare for classes the next day.

When you’re ready to have your Sim do homework, click on the specific homework book for the class you want them to work on. Remember, university books are black and white. After selecting the appropriate class, your Sim can work on their homework for as long as you choose.

Adult Sims with strong research and debate skill levels enjoy rapid homework completion rates. We recommend helping your Sims improve their debate skills to finish homework quickly.

Tips for Finishing Homework Faster

Balancing homework with other life stresses is challenging in Sims 4. If you want to help your Sims finish their homework quickly and easily, use these tips:

  • Help your Sims increase their logic skill level.
  • Work on skills related to their major or classes.
  • Dedicate a space in the house for homework with calming decorations.
  • Keep your dorm room locked from others while your Sims study.
  • Increase your Sims’ research and debate skills.
  • Take your Sim to the library if their roommate throws a party.
  • Apply for Study Spot lot traits.
  • Boost child skill levels so they can finish homework quickly.
  • Consider downloading mods to help you fly through homework smoothly.

How do you take your final exam in The Sims 4?

If you have an adult sim taking university courses, you can have them take the final exam by attending the last day of class. It should be noted, however, that it appears a bug exists that prevents players from having their sim take the final exam. As of writing, no official source has confirmed nor denied this bug’s existence nor have they confirmed or denied that a patch fix has been implemented.

A teen Sim does homework on a plain desk

In The Sims 4 ’s new expansion, High School Years , your teen Sims can head out to school the same way some Sims head to work. You can go with them to control what they do throughout the school day, affecting their relationships and academic growth.

Notably, in the career tab for the teen Sim, you’ll see that they have a daily task to “do homework” after every school day (as you’d expect from school). Though homework for young Sims is not a new addition, it can be new for players who never had teenage Sims.

The homework your teen Sim has to do will be in their personal inventory , as a little blue book. You can select it and click “do homework” and your teen Sim will move to a nearby table to do it.

Based on our gameplay, not doing homework didn’t do anything too dramatic to the Sims’ school performances. As long as your teen Sim is attending class, they’ll progress in their career just fine. However, if you want them to improve their grades faster, they should actively be doing their homework.

How to do Homework in The Sims 4

The best way to get your Sim's grades up in school is to have them do their homework every day. Oftentimes, though, your Sim will oddly choose to not do their homework. Thankfully, it's very easy to force them to get to work.

How to find and do homework in The Sims 4

how do you do homework in sims 4 university

You can find the homework for a child or teen in their inventory. The inventory is the little box symbol in the bottom right of the UI screen. To command your Sim to do their homework, click on the book in the inventory and choose Do Homework . If you cannot find their homework book, search around the home to find it. In the case of an emergency, you can order a new book from the phone or computer.

Have your Sim work on their homework in peace until they are finished. Once finished, you can sometimes press the book again and choose an option to do extra credit, which is useful if you want to raise your Sim's grades. If you think they may have already done their homework, click the briefcase to open the School tab and check on their Daily Task progress. Make sure the book either stays in a good spot where it can't get lost, or just move it back into their inventory to be safe.

How to do homework in The Sims 4

how do you do homework in sims 4 university

No matter if it’s real life or The Sims 4, going to school is never easy. The worst part is always the homework. After a young Sim returns home, they still need to sit down to complete homework assignments. Here is what you need to know to do homework in The Sims 4.

The basics of The Sims 4 homework

how do you do homework in sims 4 university

There are three types of basic homework. There’s grade school and high school homework, for child and teenager Sims, respectively. You can find the younger Sims’ homework inside their inventory. Make sure to do it before the end of each day and that they have a great mood before leaving the house so they can succeed in school. Each time they age up, new homework is added to their inventory to reflect it. You can sell unnecessary homework for $1. If young Sims do well throughout grade and high school, they can improve from a C student to a B student, eventually becoming a successful A+ student. A+ students will get higher-paying positions in their chosen careers that they start as young adults .

To improve your younger Sims’ school standing, the school will also sometimes give you school projects. You can also get these projects by purchasing them for $100 in buy mode. You can finish these projects by “working carefully” or “working sloppily.” The former gets you more points toward being an A+ student.

Moreover, the more skills your young Sims have, the quicker they can complete their homework. If you have all their skills up to level 3, they can choose to “breeze through homework.” If they have all their skills at level 7, they can choose to “dominate homework” to complete it even faster. Another way to help your young Sim do their homework faster is by having an adult Sim choose to “help with homework.” It increases their relationship bar while getting the schoolwork done faster.

Homework in The Sims 4: High School Days

For people who have The Sims 4: High School Days , homework isn’t all that different. However, you do have to worry about exams every Friday. When you have an upcoming test on your teen Sim’s schedule, you need to choose whether to cram for the test or not study at all. Instead of a homework book, this is just a prompt you can choose when clicking on your sim. If they get good exam scores, their standing grade (A, B, or C) will improve.

Homework in The Sims 4: University

how do you do homework in sims 4 university

If you want advanced homework, though, look no further than The Sims 4: University pack. When you have a student attending University in The Sims 4,   they have homework they continuously need to be working on while they attend school. Your Sim has to complete their homework before they attend a class again to get good grades. You can have them complete their homework faster if their home has a study spot trait, or if your Sim has the research and debate skill leveled up. You can level up your research and debate skill by using a mirror, using a podium, or using the Archive at the university, which is free to use.

Troubles with homework in The Sims 4

Some players have reported having issues sometimes misplacing their Sims’ homework. If you need to obtain a new homework workbook, you can do so by purchasing it from the bookshelf by clicking the “purchase books” tab.

You should also be sure to try to have your Sim do their homework when they arrive home from school. You can potentially have them do homework late at night or in the morning before school, but it’s a risk. They could end up going to school exhausted or with unfinished homework.

The Sims 4: 7 Tips For Going To University

In The Sims 4, attending a university is a big deal. Knowing what to expect and how to enhance the experience with these tips is recommended.

One of the fun ways to make the Sims' lives more interesting in The Sims 4 is to send them to a university. Getting accepted can be challenging all on its own, especially if the Sim didn't have good grades or failed to build up their skills. However, even after getting in, the work isn't over - quite the opposite!

RELATED: Tips For Running A Restaurant In The Sims 4

Finishing university in The Sims 4 presents a real challenge, as the workload of difficult subjects can pile up. But just like in any area of the game, there are ways to make the studies easier a bit for both the Sim and the player - or at least more interesting.

7 Pick The Right Lot Traits

Studying can take up a lot of time when going to the university. Luckily, just like with all possible scenarios and situations in The Sims 4 , there is a lot of traits that help Sims study better and complete their homework faster. The right lot trait for university students is the Study Spot.

The Study Spot lot trait will help the students finish their homework always twice as fast as they would normally do. It also makes the Sims less exhausted while they're studying. And finally, the lot trait boosts the Sims' skills faster, helping them learn a new skill at a swifter pace.

6 Work On The Research And Debate Skill

Other than using the Study Spot lot trait, there's another way to complete homework faster at the university . That's by reaching at least a level three of the Research and Debate skill. The skill is available only for those who have the Going to University expansion.

RELATED: Tips For Taking Care Of Pets In The Sims 4

What's more, this feature works not only for university students but also for teenagers, and it cuts the time it takes them to do their homework from approximately four-game hours to around three hours. Once the Sims then reach level six of the Research and Debate skill, they will not only be able to finish their homework faster but also their university term papers and presentations.

5 Don't Live In The Dorms

Living in the dorms might seem like a necessary part of the university experience but if the Sims want more comfort, they should stay with their families or move into a starter house . There are several reasons for this. The equipment in the dorms tends to be somewhat cheap or old, so it breaks down easily and isn't as comfortable for the Sims to use.

Another reason is that in the dorms, the Sims are much more likely to get disturbed while they're studying or doing their homework, so everything will take a lot more time for them to do. But if the player absolutely wants their student to reside in the dorms, they should at least remember to always lock the door to the student's room for other Sims so that people aren't constantly walking in there.

4 Romance The Professors

While the game doesn't look favorably on teenagers dating adults, it does allow the students to romance their professors if they so choose. That can add an extra experience to the gameplay and make for some interesting moments, especially if the player decides to keep the relationship a secret .

While the Sim is still studying, they can't propose to their partner who's a professor. But once they're done with their studies, they're also free to take their relationship to the next level and get married, should they so decide.

3 Change The Lifespan

Studying at university can take up a lot of time, and in the case of the Sims, it can take their entire young adult years to finish their studies! That's at least what happens if their aging speed is set to normal or short. If the player wants to make sure their Sims won't age up into adults immediately after getting their degree, they should set their life span to Long or turn the aging off altogether.

RELATED: Tips To Befriend Wild Birds & Bunnies In The Sims 4 Cottage Living

The downside to this is that their parents or the rest of the family might still age (unless the player switches it off) but at least the students will have more time to enjoy being a young adult once they're done with university.

2 Actually Study

While it might seem like a no-brainer, beginner players might forget that their students actually have to study to be successful. When going to the classes, there are four possibilities to choose from after clicking the Sim's icon: Actively Listen, Take Notes, Sleep in Class, or Chat with Friends.

While sleeping in class might seem tempting for tired students and chatting with friends brings up their socials, if the Sims want to take their studies seriously, they should either actively listen or take notes. In both cases, this will improve their university performance and their grades.

1 Get Focused Before Going To Class

The right mood helps a lot when it comes to studying. Before going to class, the player should take care of the Sim's needs and make sure they're filled. What's more, they should figure out a way how to make the Sim feel focused because this will improve their performance in class.

Sims with the genius trait often get focused by reading a book, playing chess, or doing another intellectual activity. The lot trait Science Lair also helps with getting focused and will also allow the Sim to learn certain skills faster , such as Rocket Science, to name just one.

The Sims 4 is currently available on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.

The Sims 4 university: how to get degrees

Distinguished degrees and how to enroll explained

By going to university, your Sims can earn degrees that can propel your Sim into the career of their dreams. Better scores give you a better head start, so how do you achieve the top grades?

In this The Sims 4 Discover University guide, we will tell you how to enroll into university, where to get distinguished degrees , and everything you need to know about getting a degree . If you're looking to join the secret society, look at our  The Sims 4 secret society guide for details.

How to enrol into university in The Sims 4

Where to get distinguished degrees, how to get a degree in the sims 4 university, choosing whether to live on or off campus, managing your sim's course load, go to class and be an active participant, doing homework.

  • Term papers
  • Final exams

To apply for university, have your Sim use a computer and select "University", then click "Apply to Universities". Your Sim will then apply for a place at both University of Britechester and the Foxbury Institute.

Your Sim will get an acceptance letter after one or two in-game days. This letter will inform you of which course places your Sim can take up. Your application status can also be checked via the computer.

Once you've had confirmation of a university place, you can enrol in the university of your choice via the computer, mailbox, or your cell/mobile phone.

Since there are two universities, your Sim will want to go to the right university for their skills and aspirations. Distinguished degrees get you an even bigger boost to your Sim's career. The University of Britechester tends to offer distinguished degrees for arts and humanities subjects, while the Foxbury Institute offers distinguished degrees for the sciences.

To gain acceptance into distinguished degrees, your Sim will need to have high skills levels related to the distinguished degree course. For example, acceptance into the distinguished Art History degree at the University of Britechester is more likely if your Sim has higher charisma, painting, and writing skills.

Below are two tables that show what courses the universities offer, as well as the organisations that can be found within each one.

University of Britechester degrees and organisations

Foxbury institute degrees and organisations.

The Sims 4 university guide

By sending your Sim to university, you'll likely want them to achieve the highest grades and get a good degree. Degrees can help give your Sim a big boost in the career of their choice. The rest of this guide will be focused on what you need to do to get good grades.

This might seem like a rather arbitrary decision to make, but choosing whether or not to live with other Sims on campus or living on your Sim's own can make all the difference between graduating with distinction or flunking their class entirely.

Living on their own is a good option for your Sims. They won't be distracted by messy roommates, and will have access to everything at any time they want. There's also the fact that you won't need to waste time travelling to the University Commons to get food, and the fact you can designate your Sim's home with the Study Spot lot trait to help your Sims do better in class. It's not impossible for your Sims to ace their tests in shared accommodation, but it is significantly harder to juggle a social life and intense studying.

However, there are some advantages to living on campus. You can arrive to class early, ensuring that a late mark doesn't affect your grade. Living on campus is particularly useful if you're trying to get the Academic aspirations, as being on campus to attend guest lectures and using the research archive machine can help greatly.

A decent compromise might be to put your Sims into smaller residential units for the two universities: namely Maritime Manor for Foxbury Institute or Darkwing House for the University of Britechester. This option is sort of the best of both worlds. You'll have a computer and a kitchen on-site, as well as a reduced likelihood of sharing space with a messy Sim. But the main advantage is that you're still on campus, so you  should be able to attend class early.

As Jack Torrance in The Shining wrote repeatedly on his typewriter: all work and no play makes Jack a dull boy. Working your Sims too hard can burn them out, so you need to strike a good balance of courses and other activities.

For every semester, your Sim has the option to take a maximum of four classes. They can either take up to four core classes, or a mixture of up to three core classes and an elective. You can choose to take fewer classes in a semester, but your Sim will stay in university for a longer time before graduating.

If you want to strike a good balance between classes , I highly recommending sticking to two core classes and a single elective: a total of three classes per semester. However, this will take 20 in-game days, or four whole terms - your Sim's entire young adulthood period - to complete. You can graduate as an adult, or you can use the relevant  The Sims 4 cheats , or the Potion of Youth aspiration reward to slow down the ageing process until you graduate.

All these classes count towards your Sim's degree, but electives give your Sim a chance to learn a skill that's unrelated to the subject of their degree.

Put simply, your Sim must attend every single class to get straight A's. Your Sim must also be punctual, arriving on time for every class. One of the few advantages to living on campus is that Sims can get to class early. They'll stand outside the lecture rooms holding their notebooks and may even use that time to finish their homework.

The other thing that will affect your Sim's grades is their current mood. Try to ensure that they're not distracted, or even in a bad mood. If they need a quick boost to their emotions, have them pack snacks or grab a snack from the coffee cart between classes.

When in classes, your Sim has multiple options. I highly recommend that you should choose to either  actively listen or  take notes if you want a high grade. This does have the side effect of reducing your Sim's fun need at a faster rate than if you  attend class normally .

Your Sim does have other options such as sleeping in class, leaving early, or chatting with students , but this can hurt your Sim's grades.

After enrolling into university, your Sim will get a homework book that they'll stash in their inventory. This little book is a key item to getting high grades.

Your Sim will be set homework to be handed in to every class session your Sim attends. This includes homework set before the first classes of term, so your Sim will have homework from the moment you enrol.

Increasing your Sim's  Research and Debate skill helps them finish their homework quickly, so if you have a spare moment, try to spend some time increasing this skill. Learn more about them in our  The Sims 4 skills guide.

The Sims 4 university guide

Completing coursework

Throughout each term, your Sim will also need to complete coursework. These come in three varieties:

I cannot stress enough the value of getting your term papers and presentations done before each new term starts. By doing this, you'll have some free time to spend on boosting your Sim's fun meter, since actively listening or taking notes during lectures will reduce the fun meter harshly. Your Sim will also have more time to dedicate to extra studying through the computer.

After completing the last day of classes and finishing your assignments for each term, your Sim will be shown their final grade for that term after a few hours.

How to prepare presentations

When a term starts, you may find a presentation in your Sim's inventory. This is an empty green board that needs to be completed before submitting. To work on it, simply drag the item out of your Sim's inventory and place it on their lot.

The first step is to complete all the information on the board. Once this is done, you'll want to organise the board and refine the information to create a better quality presentation. If your Sim can call upon other Sims to get feedback, they can help refine it further.

After this is complete, make sure you practice your presentation at least once. You can practice it more times to increase your charisma skill, but it only needs to be done once to get the top grade.

Once you're satisfied that you've done all you can to make the presentation a great one, you'll need to present it. Your presentation can only take place between 8am and 4pm on weekdays . You must also present it before the final day of classes for that term. Click on the project, either where you placed it or in your inventory, and select "Give Presentation" to present it. It'll take two in-game hours to finish giving your presentation.

How to write term papers

All your Sim needs to write a term paper is a computer. Term papers can be written from the start of term.

To have your Sim write their paper, go to any computer and under the University tab, you'll find the Coursework section. Your Sim will then spend a few hours writing the paper, though it can be done in more than one sitting. Don't be tempted to submit a plagiarised term paper as you won't get the top grades for it. There is also a risk of getting caught and suspended for doing so.

Once your Sim has written the first draft of the paper, keep editing the term paper until you get a notification to say that you won't be able to make the paper any better. You could keep editing the paper to improve your knowledge, but this is a waste of valuable time.

You can then safely submit your paper. If you want to see how good it is while you work on it, hover your mouse over the submit button. You'll see a word that indicates the quality of the paper: poor, normal, or excellent. If it's excellent, submit that paper!

Much like homework, a high research and debate skill helps your Sim finish their term paper quickly. A good tip here is to plan ahead and have your Sims as teens work on the research and debate skill as they go through school. This  can be done cheaply in the home by practising debate in the mirror, which is good because you don’t have to buy an expensive and space consuming debating podium.

How to study for final exams

If your Sim's assignment for the term is to take the final exam, your Sim needs to study all term  if you want the top grades. You'll want to study at least twice in each class that has a final exam. There are a few ways to study for an exam:

  • The first is to use your computer. In the University section, select "University Coursework", then select "Study".
  • Your Sim can also study using the university's research machines in either the university library or in the commons. Select the "study for..." option.
  • Finally, your Sim can purchase textbooks from any bookcase or from the kiosks in the quad at the university. Each one costs §700.

When you have multiple final exams coming up, you may need to prioritise which modules you want your Sims to study for. They can email professors about their progress on each module, finding out which ones they're doing better or worse in. There’s no point doing this too early in a term, as the professors will say that it’s too early to tell.

How To Do Homework in Sims 4?

The ways to do and finish the homework for the child, teenager, and University-going Sims are very well explained. Just go through the explanation below and you will definitely get an effective and faster way to do yours.

i. Kids and Teenager Sims Homework

First of all, we will explain how to do the sim kid’s and teen’s homework. Basically, each workday your youngster or adolescent sim will get back home from school with new homework that needs to be done.

It very well is found in their inventory and you will be given the option to do the homework by simply tapping on it from that point and choosing “ do homework ” and they will start doing the homework.

The little kid sims will have their homework on the orange books and the teenagers will have their homework on the blue books. Both will be in their inventory.

In case you want the homework to be done in a shorter period of time and with better accuracy, you can likewise have an adult’s assistance in doing the homework.

For this purpose, all you have to do is to aim at an adult and afterward tap on the sim kid and select the option of “ Help with Homework” .

It will make that adult help your sim kid out in completing the homework quickly and correctly. It will also ensure your good grades in school.

In the event that you need to get a touch of boosted excellence in school grades then you have this option of “ Do Extra Credit” that you can avail yourself to lift up your performance.

To utilize this option, you have to complete your homework first. After doing that, tap again on your homework and select the Do Extra Credit option. This will prompt a little boost in performance when you will go to school the next day.

Eventually, it will help you in gaining good grades at school. Keep in mind that this option is only applicable to the sims if they have a minimum B grade at the school.

The players always seek the options that can help them to do their tasks in the quickest way possible. So, if you manage to take all 4 Child skills to Level 3, then the sim kids will be given the extra option of “Breeze through Homework ” rather than just “do the homework”.

And by selecting this option you will be able to do your sims homework way more quickly than usual.

Note: For some odd reason if you are unable to find your kid or teen Sims homework in their inventory then you better go to the bookshelf immediately and click on it.

After that you will see the option of “ purchase books ”, select this option to buy a new notebook for homework.

And they have to get their homework done continually while they are dealing with their degrees.

The University homework is a little different as it needs to be done before attending the morning class consistently. If you do so, it will be beneficial for maintaining your grades at University.

If you wish to get an A+ or some high grades in the University, it is significant that you even do the homework before going to the earlier classes.

This will definitely help you in attaining excellent grades and will be beneficial in the future.

As the kids and teens have orange and blue homework books respectively. The University going Sims have black and white homework books.

These can be found in their inventory. In order to complete your Sims University homework, all you have to do is to tap on it and then pick which class homework you wish to do.

They will deal with it accordingly and complete the homework very well. If you are looking for some snappy hacks to do your University homework rapidly then you have got a couple of choices.

You can either train your Sims to acquire Research and Debate skills  because the higher the expertise in research and debate skills, the higher would be the rate of completing the University homework, and will write the term papers quicker.

Sims 4 University Guide – Everything You Need To Know

Photo of author

The Sims 4: Discover University introduces to the players the University of Britechester and Foxbury Institute. So what will it be? The University of Britechester focuses more on creative arts and is older and richer with history. Foxbury Institute is newer and features classes to aid in careers such as becoming a scientist or an astronaut.

Which Is Better Foxbury or Britechester University?

If you prefer to tinker, do rocket science, or program then Foxbury is just the right fit for you, but if you like the flashing lights of acting, being a detective or perhaps being a social media influencer then maybe the University of Britechester is better. Foxbury is directly related to science-related careers usually, Britechester is more for creative work like writing, painting, or acting. You can take up to 4 classes or fewer with electives to learn separate skills to graduate.

Degrees in The Sims 4 are not too hard to earn given you are never tired, always full, and need no one, which can be achieved through the reward store. However, there is plenty to do at university while you’re there which can make it quite fun like creating a Servo or doing keg stands. It’s also important to keep the “Academic” aspiration in mind when applying. Let us do a deep dive into what all goes into first getting there and then achieving maximum success.

Applying For College

When you are applying for college it is always wise to take out your phone or get on your computer and E-mail that former guidance counselor about scholarships. Eventually, they will get back to you with the scholarships you will most likely achieve. This does not mean you can’t get more, but, ultimately you will have no problem with the scholarships they recommend. After you apply for scholarships through your computer or phone you will receive your response in just a couple of days.

After receiving your response from your scholarships, you can apply for college. This is where you decide what job you’re going to want to pursue after college. Getting your skills increased in the particular subject area of study you’ll be doing will help with being accepted, like writing to be a writer. After that, you choose your degree and apply.

Distinguished Degrees vs. Regular Degrees

Both universities offer the same degrees, however, they specialize in different areas. This is where distinguished degrees come in. Foxbury may be a school specializing in science and technology and therefore having distinguished degrees in those subjects, but it will always offer regular degrees in creative arts and humanities. The same goes for the University of Britechester, so it’s important to pick the correct university when deciding on your career path as a distinguished degree will be better in the long run.

University Sims 4

Going to university from home is the cheapest option as you do not have to pay for housing and scholarships will eat up the cost of your classes. It is also the most efficient as your Sim will treat it as a job and go to it when it calls to them. Not only that but you’re familiar with your house and thus you know where everything is and you can customize it at any time you need.

UBrite Housing

Offers five different types of housing settings, one of which is free and that is your house of course and you just pay for the classes, the other four are paid for by term unless you decide to move off of campus and off your lot. They are:

  • At Home: Free – However many people live in your household
  • Off Campus: However much the cost of the house is you’re moving to + cost/term of classes
  • Darkwing Hall: $558/term – 4 bedrooms – No gender restrictions
  • Drake Hall: $326/term – 8 bedrooms – No gender restrictions
  • Wyvern Hall: $312/term – 8 bedrooms – No gender restrictions – Best of Friends Household

Foxbury Housing

  • At Home: Free – However many people are living in your household
  • Off Campus: Cost of home + cost/term of classes
  • Briny Tower: $95/term – 8 bedrooms – No gender restrictions
  • Maritime Manor – $585/term – 4 bedrooms – No gender restrictions
  • Tidal Tower – $293/term – 8 bedrooms – No gender restrictions

At-home or off-campus housing is certainly a good option as your Sim will treat university like a regular job and go to it when your classes call. You can customize your personal home when you feel the need to but you cannot customize the dorms when you move into on-campus housing. On-campus housing has the benefit of meeting new people and being closer to organizations and classes and just general immersion in the entire idea. Ultimately, it is entirely up to you with what you would like to do when the time comes to go to university and get a degree.

Getting Good Grades

If you take four classes, you will have a presentation, term paper, or likely both that can be pulled out of your inventory or completed on the computer. Your presentation can be completed by pulling it out of your inventory and placing it into the world. This will usually give it a starting condition of “poor” but then it’s time to refine and organize it until its condition is excellent. After that, you can give the presentation at any point between 8 A.M. – 4:30 P.M. by the end of the term.

Your term paper is written on a computer which can be found at the Ubrite Commons or Foxbury Commons or if you have one yourself. After you finish the paper you can go back and edit it to make it in much better condition before submitting it.

It’s important to also complete homework, which is stored in your inventory and looks like a composition notebook. Sims have a tendency to just put it down anywhere they like. You can buy additional homework notebooks from stands/kiosks around campus for one simoleon if you need to, I suggest buying three or four.

Studying is an important aspect of classes as well, using an Electromagnetic Research Archive Machine, or just a computer if you like. To get a good idea of how you’re doing, you can “E-mail Professors About Progress”. Then you will know exactly what to study for.

After School Activities

There are many after-school activities from which you can partake and even earn money. You can join an E-sports team or an outdoor sports team. To make some money on the side, you can tutor students for a few hours and earn 100 simoleons. Attending guest lectures is also an option and a goal for the “Academic” aspiration. Guest lectures can be found in buildings around the center statues of each university, but they provide no benefit to you.

Depending on the university you go to, you have a few different organizations you can choose from which are separate from clubs. If you join the University of Britechester, you can decide between

The Debate Guild

Ubrite spirit corps.

  • Art Society

If you go with Foxbury Institute then you can choose between:

Bot Savants

Foxbury spirit squad, the brainiacs, organizations.

Organizations can be joined while in university, at a kiosk by checking for organization events, separate from a club you may be in until the end of your time in university. They are like a job in that you have to do certain tasks at your leisure and you will eventually get promoted. There is no penalty for failing to do a task by the next time you are needed to go to a meeting. If you cannot go to a meeting then do not fret, your progress and organization rank carries over into your next term. You can go through the organization as fast or slow as you like, it is entirely flexible.

The University of Britechester offers a variety of creative arts and humanities organizations that you can join based on your skill or what you are studying that would be beneficial to you. It’s important to note that to maintain a good grade, you have to strike a balance between class and time spent with the club. You can take to the stage and furiously debate ideas with The Debate Guild which would be especially helpful if you have a degree that moves towards needing the research and debate skill in a job.

I found that doing just the tasks required and only visiting a few events during my college degree was enough to get me to be a senior member. If I was completing an 8 class degree. The events do not get you much in terms of reputation unless you do specifically what is requested.

There are only three ranks in each organization , each offering different cosmetics or items. As a New Member of The Debate Guild, you have access to:

  • Organization T-Shirt
  • Organization Poster

Once you get to the second rank of The Debate Guild which gives you the title of “Seasoned Member” you now have access to:

  • Earning extra credit for your Communications, History, Language, Psychology, and Economics classes when participating in The Debate Guild events

At the third and final rank, you become a “Senior Member” and have now have admittance to use the Debate Guild jacket, the TY84 Gold Plus Research Archive Machine, and the ability to convince your professor to help with a class or raise your grade.

If you are loyal to your university and what it is about, then perhaps the Spirit Corps is for you! Represent with your fellow students and Darby the Dragon by meeting up at the bar and doing keg stands, or going to Foxbury and de-facing their center statue (it is a creative arts college). You can think of the Ubrite Spirit Corps or the Foxbury Spirit Squad as essentially cheerleaders, or very similar to a club in what they do or represent.

No matter what organization you join, the first reward will always be the same, as will the name of the ranks. At “New Member” , you will receive:

Once you have completed all the tasks necessary for promotion to the second rank of “Seasoned Member” , you will receive:

  • The ability to perform the Ubrite Greeting

Once you find your way to the top and become a “Senior Member” of the Spirit Corps, you will can get a new outfit as well as a new way to represent your university. You will receive:

  • Darby the Dragon Costume
  • Dragon Pong Table

If neither of those suits your fancy then perhaps you’d like to paint happy little paintings with your friends. The Art Society requests the least amount of your time from your university studies and is great if you’re studying to have a career in painting.

New Member Rewards:

Seasoned Member Rewards:

  • Earn extra credit in Art History and Fine Art classes when participating in Art Society events

Senior Member Rewards:

  • Bob Russ’ Happy Little Easel
  • Creative skill gain is increased

Foxbury Institute Organizations

If creative arts isn’t your thing and instead you’d like to tinker with robots or go to space then perhaps you’d like to take a look at the Bot Savants, Brainiacs, or the Foxbury Spirit Squad in order to represent your university. The rewards are similar at the beginning for each organization but different towards the end.

Bot Savants

Do you like making robots? Having a brush with death because you have no idea what you’re doing and electrocute yourself? Perhaps you just enjoy making Servo and adding one to your household. This is the correct organization for you! Their schedule is relatively flexible and spread out across the week.

The rewards are excellent for this organization given you have a hankering for robotics or to build a Servo that can provide a wide array of benefits for the player.

New Member:

Seasoned Member :

  • Earn extra credit for Computer Science, Physics, and Villainy classes when participating in Bot Savant events.

Senior Member:

  • Party-Bot Gold Edition
  • Robotics Skill builds at a faster rate
  • Upgrades for any robotics parts cost significantly less

Statue

Very similar to the Ubrite Spirit Corps, this organization embodies the university for everything that it is. If you want to represent your university to its fullest then join up with all the cheerleaders in the Spirit Squad and go yarnbomb Ubrite’s lame book statue!

Seasoned Member:

  • Able to perform the Foxbury Greeting when meeting Sims
  • Foxbury’s Larry the Lobster Costume
  • Pincers Pong!

This organization is for those Sims that want nothing more than to feed the brain more knowledge. There is nothing to stop them from learning as gaining and harvesting more knowledge is their only pursuit in life or university. The Brainiacs are exactly that: brainiacs.

  • Able to earn extra credit in every class regardless of what it is.

Senior Member :

  • Brainiacs Plaque
  • Mental Skills are gained at a much faster rate

The Secret Society

The Secret Society identifies with neither university specifically, but rather just itself and university students that perform the correct ritual to be summoned amongst the ranks. To be accepted into the ranks of The Secret Society, there are certain things you must offer to your university’s statue for good grades. Then go back to your dorm and fall asleep. After you’ve fallen asleep you’ll be awoken by members of the society to be accepted. Those certain things to offer are:

  • Excellent quality food items
  • Pristine gardening harvestables
  • Rare crystals/metals

The Secret Society is also known as the “Order of Enchantment” and tasks may include such things as making offerings at the statue, participating in events for the Order, or tending to the sprite’s garden. There are ranks for the Order of Enchantment and that includes:

  • Order Robes
  • Ability to perform sprite attacks on other Sims
  • Gain ability to summon powerful sprites on yourself

The Order of Enchantment’s meet-up place is across from the local bar at Gibb’s Hill in the Ruins where you may find an interesting looking area.

Graduation in Sims 4

Graduation

If it is your first time getting a degree then you will need to complete 12 classes or three terms if you’re taking 4 classes a term to graduate. Upon graduation, you will receive your final grade and determination on whether or not you passed with honors or if you failed. Not only that but you will be kicked out of your organization as that is only allowed for university members. Graduation takes place the following day around noon when it is announced to you.

You can choose to go to graduation or not, it does not matter and is entirely up to you. Either way, if you go, you will enter into a building (and disappear) and come out with several members and toss your caps in the air. Upon graduation, you will receive a graduation picture of yourself, your graduation certificate to hang on the wall, and a lot of incentives for any job that your degree was intended for. You will receive more vacation days more often and a massive pay raise. Now doesn’t that sound awesome!

How to do homework in The Sims 4 Guide

How to do homework in The Sims 4 Guide

Homework in The Sims 4 holds significant weight, acting as a pivotal component in a Sim’s journey. It not only shapes their academic growth but also molds their future opportunities. For school-aged Sims, namely children and teenagers, homework becomes an everyday assignment that plays into their daily routines.

When a Sim transitions into either the child or teenager phase, they’re bestowed with homework books. The younger children receive orange ones, while the teens are given blue books.

To embark on their homework journey, Sims needs to access their inventory, find the homework book, and select the “do homework” command. But fret not if you misplace a Sim’s homework! There’s always the option to buy another set for a mere Simoleon from any available bookcase.

Managing Sims 4 Homework for School-aged Sims

Every weekday, from Monday to Friday, these school-goers are assigned homework in Sims 4. It becomes part and parcel of their academic life. Now, to ensure that they do their assignments promptly and effectively, there are strategies that players can employ:

  • Adult Sim Assistance : A little help can go a long way. An adult Sim, when prompted, can aid a child or teen in their homework endeavors, cutting down the time it takes to complete it.
  • Breeze through Homework : As a child Sim hone their skills and achieve level three in all four child skills, they unlock a special “Breeze through Homework” capability, allowing them to finish their tasks in record time.
  • Dominate Homework : For the prodigious child Sim who scales their skills to level seven, the “Dominate Homework” feature becomes available, serving as a turbo boost to their homework completion rate. It’s noteworthy, however, that this feature is strictly for the children, leaving the teens to find their pace.

Advanced Homework Strategies for Teens in Sims 4

Teenage Sims have their own academic battles in The Sims 4. They attend high school daily, and with it comes the responsibility of daily homework. Players have the unique opportunity to accompany their teen Sims to school, oversee their academic endeavors, and influence their choices. To kick-start the homework ritual:

  • Dive into the Sim’s personal inventory and scout for the blue book adorned with white writing.
  • Hover over the said item and pick the “Do Homework” directive.
  • During this, the Sim settles down at a table, immersing themselves in their assignment.
  • For a little push, players can usher an adult Sim to pitch in, selecting the “Help with schoolwork” option.
  • For Sims striving for excellence, especially those with grades languishing below a B, there’s always the “Do extra credit work” avenue which, when taken, provides noticeable benefits in school.

University Homework in The Sims 4 University Expansion

The University expansion in The Sims 4 introduces a different ball game. With the pursuit of a degree, Sims is saddled with daily homework duties, even before their first class commences. To stay atop this academic ladder and eye that A-plus grade:

  • The university homework can be accessed via a black-and-white book in the Sim’s inventory.
  • From this book, players can cherry-pick the specific class homework they desire their Sims to tackle.
  • To amp up the homework progress, there’s the “Study Spot” lot trait. Players can either:
  • Infuse this trait into their houses or dorms.
  • Opt for a library visit, a place inherently bestowed with the “Study Spot” trait.

But the game-changer lies in the research and debate skills. Sims equipped with this skill don’t just breeze through their homework but also master term papers and presentations with flair. Beginning this skill development in the teenage years can provide a formidable advantage during the university phase.

Homework in The Sims 4 is an extracurricular activity that sim children and teens can do at home. To learn more about homework in The Sims 4 read on.

  • For more Sims 4 tips, read our guide on how to have twins in The Sims 4.

Homework in sim's inventory in The Sims 4

As your sim children and teens age up-they'll automatically receive homework in their inventories. Children receive yellow 'Grade School Homework' and teens receive blue 'Homework' books. The homework is individual to each sim, sims cannot do other sim's homework for them. If you lose the book around the neighbourhood, you can purchase another set of homework for your child through the 'buy books' menu on a bookcase or PC.

To do homework simply click on it in your inventory and select 'Do Homework'. The activity will take longer if your sim is in a bad mood. You can speed up the interaction if you get an adult sim to 'Help with Homework' by interacting with the sim whilst it is working. After completing the homework, you can interact with it again to complete 'Extra Credit Homework' for additional gain.

How To Improve Grades In The Sims 4

Parents helping with a school project in The Sims 4

Doing Homework is an easy way of ensuring your child improves their grades. School works in a very similar way to sim careers in the fact that homework acts as an extra activity you can do to boost performance.

To boost performance, you can also ensure that your sim goes to school in a good mood with their needs all met and choosing the 'Work Hard' option on their icon picture whilst attending class. You can also raise a child's skills to increase performance. Skills include mental, motor, creativity and social.

Children can sometimes come home with a school project if you have The Sims 4: Parenthood installed. If this is the case, you'll receive a notification that they have received a project from school. Projects range from making volcano displays to castles and other dioramas. These are a good way of boosting your sim child's grade as well as boosting skill gain. The project will perform even better if you get a parent to help the child with the project. Projects can also be bought from the build and buy mode if you wish to help your child's grade along faster.

If the child's grade starts to fall, it will trigger an interaction where the principal will ring the child to discuss their failing grades. The child's grades will also suffer if they choose to skip school. This can be done by simply cancelling the interaction for them to go to school in the morning. They may also get a pop-up from a classmate asking them to skip school if you have The Sims 4: Parenthood installed.

Some gamers claim that their Sim children get taken away when they get an F from school while others only get the Embarrassed or Sad moodlets . Whatever the case, it’s important that your Sim do their schoolwork.

So, how do you go about it? If you need to know how to do homework in Sims 4, below is an explanation for doing homework in grade school, high school, and university.

How to Do Homework in Sims 4 Base Game

All child and teen sims automatically get homework that can be found in their inventory. It doesn’t matter if you made your Sim in CAS or aged them up. To do homework, it all starts with the homework book.

If you have a child Sim, the homework looks like a thin Math book. It is predominantly yellow with an orange border and several shapes on the front, like a circle and triangles.

To do the homework, simply click on the book in the inventory of your Sim and then click Do Homework. Depending on the skill level of your Sim, this option can also appear as Breeze Through Homework or Dominate Homework.

For teen Sims, the homework looks like a Science book. It is thicker than the child’s homework and is in 2 shades of blue with a DNA drawing on the front. To do the teen’s homework, just click on the book and then Do Homework.

Extra Credit

Once your child or teen Sim gets a B in school, this will unlock the extra credit option in their homework. Once the regular homework is done, there is a choice for them to Do Extra Credit.

Homework Help

If you want to help out your child or teen Sim with their schoolwork, you can have an adult Sim do that. Once your child or teen Sim is already doing the homework, click on the adult Sim and then click on the child or teen Sim where you will find the Help with Homework. Or, you can also have the child or teen Sim click on the adult Sim and Ask for Homework Help.

Missing Homework

On the off-chance that you can’t find the homework in your Sims inventory, you can always purchase one through any computer or bookcase, under the children’s category when ordering books. It only costs $1 so don’t go crazy trying to look for your Sim’s missing homework.

How to Do Homework in Sims 4 University

It’s a whole other world of schoolwork at Sims 4 University. Once your Sim is enrolled, the homework book, which looks like a classic composition notebook with a marbled black and white cover, should appear in the inventory.

Here’s where things get different for your Sim in university. For each term, you can take 1 to 4 classes at a time. For each of these classes, you have to do individual homework. So, when you click on the homework notebook, all of the names of classes taken will appear. Click on the class homework that you want to do.

Unlike teens and children, your Uni Sim needs to do their homework ahead of the class, especially if they want to get an A+. It also takes around 2 hours for one homework to be completed, unless your Sim has a high Research and Debate skill or is in a lot with the Study Spot trait.

When you check your Uni Sim’s schedule, you’ll be able to see the progress of their homework, if it is 50% done, just started, or completed.

How to do homework in Sims 4 is pretty straightforward. Again, just click on the appropriate homework book in your Sim’s inventory, then do the homework. If your Sim misplaces it or there is a glitch, just buy another homework from the computer or bookcase.

Make sure you have the best laptop for Sim4 so you can encounter fewer glitches or problems when it comes to homework and the school progress of your Sims.

The Sims 4: Seasons - Scouting Guide

Here's what you need to know about Scouting in The Sims 4: Seasons.

Quick Links

Scouts activity overview, how to join scouts, how to rank up in scouts, all badges and how to earn them.

Before the addition of The Sims 4: Seasons , there wasn't much for your child Sims to do after school. Luckily, that's all changed with the after-school activity of Scouts being added, so your young Sims can have something fun to do with friends instead of being stuck inside doing homework.

The Sims 4: Entrepreneur Skill Explained

Joining the Scouts has plenty of benefits, including gaining skills your Sim will keep through their entire lifetime. With enough work and dedication, your Sim will have plenty of perks and bonuses to enjoy for their entire lives, along with plenty of pretty badges they're able to show off to all of their friends.

Scouts are an after-school activity that children and teenage Sims are able to join. There is no monetary reward for joining the Scouts, but you are able to gain skills like Creative, Fitness, and Fishing. It also is completely free to join the Scouts. Your Sims won't need to pay an entry fee.

Any child or teen Sim is able to join the Scouts , as they are not divided by gender, like the Boy Scouts or Girl Scouts. Any other life stage is not able to be a Scout, though, and once your Sim ages out of the Scouts, they are not able to join again.

If you have the Parenthood Game Pack, your Sim can also gain different character values from joining the Scouts, such as manners and responsibility. The Scouts are a great way to gain levels in these attributes.

Much like joining a career with your adult Sims, to join the Scouts all you need to do is have your child or teen Sim open up their phone and choose Business. From there, you can choose to Join after school activity for children or Find a job for teens. You can then choose Scout from the list.

This is similar to how adult Sims join careers. Once your Sim has joined the scouts, they can immediately begin to progress towards earning badges and advancing through the ranks. The more badges they get, the higher they rank in the Scouts.

These are all the available ranks in the Scouts, and how to advance to that rank:

As you can see, no matter your Sim's rank in the Scouts, they will meet at the same time each week . None of the Scout's activities interfere with your Sims going to school, so you can join them even if your Sim isn't doing well in their studies.

The only way to rank up in the Scouts is to earn badges . Badges are earned by completing various activities during your Sims free time, such as repairing items around the house or finding frogs outside. Almost any activity your Sim can do that's positive will help progress them towards a badge.

You do need to perform the different activities multiple times in order to get a badge. This will help your Sim build their skills better, as opposed to getting it immediately upon completing the activity once.

There are nine badges your Sims can earn in total. Here's all of them, along with the activities required to get them, and how many times you need to complete them:

You can check your progress on how close you are to getting a badge at any time at the Scouting Badge Board . You unlock this board as soon you join the Scouts, but you can always buy another one in Buy Mode under Kids > Kids' Activities . The board is only 50 Simoleons to replace.

If your Sim is looking to get a head start on their skills, joining the Scouts is a great way to be rewarded for practicing things your Sim is likely already doing.
