Visit https://unilag.edu.ng  Click “ Unilag payment portal  on staff login”, then click “ others ”, scroll through the payment items then click HRDC Certificate. Complete other details which include

  • N3000 for Statement of Result.
  • N5000 for Certificate
  • N5000 for Transcripts

Printout the  Remita Code  and proceed to any of the banks on campus to make payment.                        (This process excludes HKHE AND SDA programmes).  Complete the clearance form and take it to your Coordinator for endorsement.

Present your payment teller, clearance form, a copy of your admission letter and school fee receipt at Room 003 (Accounts Office) for confirmation and endorsement.

Write an application letter for collection of certificate and statement of results. Attach the signed clearance form, original bank teller, a photocopy of your tuition fee receipt and admission letter to the application letter and submit at the Director’s Office Room 203, HRDC.

  • Click the ‘Apply Now’ button on this page.
  • Register on the platform (If you’re a new user) by clicking the ‘register’ link and create an account
  • Log in with your username and password.
  • Click on the ‘New Request’ button at the top-right corner of the page.
  • Select your request option (International Transcript are grouped in Zones: AFRICA, ASIA, MIDDLE EAST, UK, EUROP, WEST AND CENTRAL AMERICA, PACIFIC, CENTRAL AMERICA, NORTH AMERICA, SOUTH AMERICA).
  • Generate payment tokens by clicking the ‘Purchase Token’ button.
  • Make your payment through the payment gateway.
  • Once Payment is successful, click the ‘Continue to Apply’ button on the payment status notification page.
  • On your home page, move your mouse to your new request and click the ‘Continue Application’ button.
  • Specify your Matric No and click the ‘Search’ button on the application page.
  • Fill in all the necessary information and submit.
  • Click your page’s “Add More Document” button to upload the necessary documents.

Once your application is submitted, a tracking code is sent to the phone number you provided during registration. You can use the tracking code to track the progress of your application request and other communication with the processing officers as the case may be.

Please Read the Following Information and Guidelines Carefully and Note that the NOUN Transcripts Applications are Treated on First-Come, First-Served Basis: 

1. TRANSCRIPT REQUEST TYPE AND COST IMPLICATION: 

  • Local Transcript to Equivalent Academic Institutions: Transcripts request to equivalent academic institutions within Nigeria cost the sum of Fifteen Thousand Naira ( N 15,000) only. 

Graduates requesting for the above transcripts request type are required to upload NOUN Certificate/Statement of Result, Birth Certificate and Remita Receipt along with the following evidences of application for admission, to be scanned as a single pdf file through the document upload fields:

i. Remita receipt/evidence of payment of admission form of the receiving institution ii. Application form for the programme applied for at the receiving institution iii. Transcript Label or Academic Records Request Form of the receiving institution iv. Provisional/Conditional Offer of Admission Letter of the receiving institution

  • Credit Transfer: This is for active students intending to transfer their studies to another University bearing in mind that their portal will be closed and they will not graduate from NOUN. Students requesting for this transcript request type are required to upload birth certificate and Remita Receipt through the document upload fields.
  • Local Credit Transfer : Credit Transfer to equivalent institutions within Nigeria cost the sum of Fifteen Thousand Naira ( N 15,000) only.   
  • International Credit Transfer: Credit Transfer to equivalent institutions outside Nigeria cost the sum of Thirty Thousand Naira ( N 30,000) only .
  • Continental Transcript Request : Transcripts request to equivalent institutions or evaluation agencies within Africa that do not require transcript verification cost the sum of Thirty Thousand Naira ( N 30,000) only.  

This transcript request type requires the upload of NOUN Certificate/Statement of Result, Birth Certificate and Remita Receipt through the document upload fields.

  • Intercontinental Transcript Request : Transcripts request to equivalent institutions or evaluation agencies outside Africa cost the sum of Forty-Five Thousand Naira ( N 45,000) only.  
  • Transcript Request to Evaluation Agencies (e.g World Education Service (WES), Josef Silny & Associates etc): This transcript request type is for graduates applying for evaluation of their transcripts through WES or Josef Silny & Associates. The cost for this transcript request type is Fifty Thousand Naira ( N 50,000) only which includes cost of International Transcript request and Verification.

This transcript request type requires the upload of NOUN Certificate/Statement of Result and Evaluation Agencies Forms e.g WES Academic Request Form as a single pdf file, while the Birth Certificate/Declaration of age and Remita Receipt should be uploaded separately through the document upload fields.

  • Transcript to Educational Consultants: Transcript request to verifiable Educational Consultants/Agencies in Nigeria which has website and official emails cost the sum of FortyFive Thousand Naira ( N 45,000) only.
  • Document Verification (e.g Certificate/Admission Letter/Transcript): The cost of verifying the authenticity of Certificate/Admission Letter/Transcript issued by NOUN is Fifteen Thousand Naira ( N 15,000) only per Certificate/Admission Letter/Transcript.  
  • Online Certificate Request to Local Destination: The cost of sending NOUN Certificate to a destination in Nigeria after due verification is Twenty-Five Thousand Naira ( N 25,000) only .

This certificate request type requires the upload of final clearance form duly cleared from the study centre, all remita payments receipts for convocation, a valid means of identification and Alumni payment receipt (as from 2023 graduates only).

  • Online Certificate Request to International Destination: The cost of sending NOUN Certificate to a destination outside Nigeria after due verification is Fifty Thousand Naira ( N 50,000) only .

This certificate request type requires uploading a final clearance form duly cleared from the study centre, all remita payments receipts for convocation, a valid means of identification and an Alumni payment receipt (as from 2023 graduates only).  

  • Request for Letters: The cost of requesting for any of the under listed letters is Ten Thousand Naira ( N 10,000) only per request:

i.   Proficiency in English Letter ii. Recommendation Letter iii.     Introduction Letter iv.      Progress Report Letter

To enable us treat the above letters, students/graduates are required to provide the following information in the online request form:

Note : Proficiency in English and Recommendation Letters can only be issued to graduates while Introduction and Progress Report Letter can only be issues to students that have not graduated.

  • Official Transcripts can only be forwarded to the official email of receiving institutions/agencies bearing the name of such institution/agency as the email domain name e.g [email protected],

  • If you require upload of electronic copy of Official Transcript unto receiving institutions’/agencies’ website or link, you are expected to provide in the “Transcript Label” field the link/URL of the upload portal with the username and password to access the page for the upload to be done on your behalf.

B. Additional Application Guidelines for Graduates Applying for Transcript to be Sent to WES, ECCTIS, ICES, DCA, Josef Silny & Associates, Inc. and Other Evaluation Agencies

  • In filling in your details, remember to fill in your Reference or Enquiry ID/Number (if applicable) in the “Transcript Label” field
  • Forms from Evaluation Agencies e.g “WES Academic Records Request Form” should be properly filled before uploading through document upload field.

C. Additional Application Guidelines for Nursing Graduates Applying for Transcript to be Sent to NNAS, CGFNS, NMBI and other Nursing Evaluation Agencies

  • Forms from Evaluation Agencies e.g CGFNS Forms, NNAS Forms etc
  • Clinical Attachment Log Book from your Study Centre or Hospital of Clinical Attachment

D. Guideline on Transcript Destination Address:

• Where Official Academic Transcript can be sent to:

  • Academic Transcripts CAN ONLY be forwarded to the correct address of the Dean of Postgraduate School of Universities or Head of Admission, Student Recruitment Officers/Advisor, Heads of EQUIVALENT Academic Institutions, Scholarship Boards, Educational Consulting Firms and Embassies for academic purposes.
  • The Equivalent Academic Institutions, Scholarship Boards, Educational Consulting Firms and Embassies must have functional websites.

• Where Official Academic Transcript CANNOT be sent to:

  • Official Academic Transcripts CANNOT be issued directly to students or individuals. It CANNOT be sent to location address, personal email or official email of the student or individual (i.e. [email protected] or [email protected])
  • Official Academic Transcripts CANNOT be collected by hand

General Certificate of Education (GCE)

  • For Cambridge International AS Level, 'UNGRADED' shows that the candidate did not reach the standard required for grade e(e).
  • For Cambridge International A Level and Cambrige International Project Qualification (CIPQ), 'UNGRADED' shows that the candidate did not reach the standard required for grade E(e).
  • Performance in Cambridge International AS and A Level language syllabus speaking components is shown as 'With Distinction in Speaking', 'With Merit in Speaking' or 'With Pass in Speaking’. Candidates who are ungraded in the speaking component will not have a record of their speaking performance printed on their statement of results or certificate.

'NO RESULT' means we cannot issue a result because of candidate absence for either the whole or part of the exam in the syllabus or because of a decision not to issue a result for another reason.

'PENDING' means that we cannot issue a result now but will do this soon. If this happens, we contact the school before results day to let them know about the delay.

AS Level results are reported on a 5-point scale of grades. Grades a(a), b(b), c(c), d(d), or e(e) show the standard reached, grade a (a) being the highest and grade e (e) the lowest. Only grades a(a) to e(e) achieved in GCE AS Level syllabuses are shown on the certificate. The content and difficulty of a GCE AS Level examination is equivalent to the first half of a corresponding GCE A Level.

A Level results are reported on a 6-point scale of grades. Grades A*(a*), A(a), B(b), C(c), D(d), or E(e) show a pass at A Level, grade A*(a*) being the highest and grade E(e) the lowest. Only grades A*(a*) to E(e) achieved in GCE A Level syllabuses are shown on the certificate. In some A Level syllabuses, if a candidate did not reach the standard required for grade E(e) we will award an AS (Advanced Subsidiary) Level grade a(a), b(b), c(c), d(d) or e(e), if their performance is good enough in the relevant components.

Cambridge International Project Qualification results are reported on a 6-point scale of grades. Grades A*(a*), A(a), B(b), C(c), D(d) or E(e) show the standard reached, grade A*(a*) being the highest and grade E(e) the lowest. Only grades A*(a*) to E(e) are shown on the certificate.

Cambridge Pre-U Level 3 Principal Subjects, Cambridge Pre-U Level 3 Global Perspectives & Independent Research, and Cambridge Pre-U Level 3 Short Course results are reported on a 9-point scale of grades. These are

  • Distinction ONE(D1), Distinction TWO(D2), Distinction THREE(D3)
  • Merit ONE(M1), Merit TWO(M2), Merit THREE(M3)
  • Pass ONE(P1), Pass TWO(P2) or Pass THREE(P3)

Distinction ONE(D1) is the highest and Pass THREE(P3) the lowest. UNGRADED shows the candidate did not reach the standard needed for Pass THREE(P3).

Only grades Distinction ONE(D1) to Pass THREE(P3) achieved in Cambridge International Pre-U Level 3 Certificate syllabuses is shown on the certificate.

Statements of results are issued to candidates who have entered for the Cambridge AICE Diploma. Distinction, Merit or Pass is awarded to candidates who meet the requirements. A Fail shows the candidate did not reach the standard rquired. To determine the award, each potential counting syllabus is allocated points according to the grade achieved.

  • Distinction is awarded if a candidate achieves a point score of 360 to 420 points.
  • Merit is awarded if a candidate achieves a point score of 250 to 359 points.
  • Pass is awarded if a candidate achieves a point score of 140 to 249 points.

Where a candidate has more counting syllabuses than they need, an asterisk (*) appears next to the ones we have used for the award. The total points score is the sum of the points achieved for the counting syllabuses.

Only individual syllabus results for the final series are reported on statements of results. Therefore, if a candidate is taking the Cambridge AICE Diploma over more than one exam series, not all of the counting syllabuses are shown.

For countries where we provide Percentage Uniform Marks: The Percentage Uniform Mark for GCE AS and GCE A Level is provided in addition to the syllabus grade. The Percentage Uniform Mark is a common scale for all syllabuses to show whether the candidate's performance is close to the top, bottom or middle of the grade, it is not the total mark achieved for the syllabus. It is not provided where the candidate's result is ‘ungraded’, ‘no result’ or ‘pending’; where the candidate’s A Level grade is based on performance in A2 components only; or where the candidate’s grade is determined based on certain Covid-19 mitigations implemented by Cambridge International.

Cambridge IGCSE and O Level

  • For Cambridge IGCSE, 'UNGRADED' shows that the candidate did not reach the standard required for grade G(g).
  • For Cambridge International O Level, 'UNGRADED' shows that the candidate did not reach the standard required for grade E(e).
  • For some Cambridge IGCSE and IGCSE (9–1) syllabuses, we report 'TO BE ISSUED' or 'Y' to show we will award the result in a following series.

IGCSE results are reported on an 8-point scale of grades. Grades A*(a*), A(a), B(b), C(c), D(d), E(e), F(f) or G(g) show the standard reached, grade A*(a*) being the highest and grade G(g) the lowest (unless otherwise stated in the syllabus). Only grades A*(a*) to G(g) achieved in IGCSE syllabuses are shown on the certificate.

In some Cambridge IGCSE and GCE O Level syllabuses oral/aural (speaking and listening) communication is reported separately on a 5-point numerical scale, grade 1(ONE) being the highest and grade 5(FIVE) the lowest. Candidates who fail to reach the minimum standard for grade 5(FIVE) will not receive an oral/aural (speaking and listening) communication endorsement. The endorsement grade for oral/aural (speaking and listening) communication is reported on certificates provided the overall IGCSE syllabus result is grade G(g) or higher and provided the overall GCE O Level result is grade E(e) or higher.

For English as a Second Language (0510) the oral/aural is compulsory and is reported separately. For English as a Second Language (0511) the oral/aural is compulsory but is not reported separately.

For IGCSE First Language syllabuses, Afrikaans as a Second Language and GCE O Level French, oral/aural (speaking and listening) communication is optional and is reported separately.

IGCSE (9–1) results are reported on a 9 –point scale of grades. Grades are shown as 9(NINE), 8(EIGHT), 7(SEVEN), 6(SIX), 5(FIVE), 4(FOUR), 3(THREE), 2(TWO) or 1(ONE). 9(NINE) is the highest grade and 1(ONE) the lowest. ‘UNGRADED’ shows that the candidate did not reach the standard required for Grade 1(ONE). Only grades 9(NINE) to 1(ONE) achieved in IGCSE (9–1) syllabuses are shown on the certificate.

O Level results are reported on a 6-point scale of grades. Grades A*(a*), A(a), B(b), C(c), D(d) or E(e) show the standard reached, grade A*(a*) being the highest and grade E(e) the lowest. Only grades A*(a*) to E(e) in GCE O Level syllabuses are shown on the certificate.

For some GCE O Level language syllabus speaking components we report ‘with Pass in Oral’. If a candidate does not achieve a ‘Pass’ in the speaking test it will not show on their statement of results or certificate.

Statements of results are issued to candidates who have entered for Cambridge ICE. Distinction, Merit or Pass are awarded to candidates who meet the requirements. Only Distinction, Merit and Pass achieved in the ICE Award will be reported on the certificate.

  • Distinction is awarded if the candidate achieves grade A(a) or above in five subjects and Grade C(c) or above in two subjects.
  • Merit is awarded if the candidate achieves grade C(c) or above in five subjects and Grade F(f) or above in two subjects.
  • Pass is awarded if the candidate achieves grade G(g) or above in seven subjects.

The statement of results shows the Cambridge ICE outcome and the individual syllabus results for Cambridge IGCSE and Cambridge O Level syllabuses. Only individual syllabus results for the final series are shown on statements of results. Therefore, if a candidate is taking Cambridge ICE over more than one series, not all of the counting syllabuses are shown.

Grade changes after results release

If a candidate’s grade changes after results are released and the change is not because of an enquiry about results, we do not automatically update the following electronic results documents on Direct:

Applying for a Re-issue of a certificate (change of particulars)

For all certificates issued, candidates are allowed a twelve month period from the date of issue for any corrections to be effected.   A change to an original certificate will not be considered unless the original certificate (not replacement) is returned.

To change your name on your matric certificate, you must apply to the Department of Basic Education (DBE) or Provincial Education Department (PED) by completing the Re-issues application form.

You must go to the nearest DBE/PED offices in person so that DBE/PED officials can interview you before they make the amendments.

A statement of results may be issued, as an interim record while waiting for the issue of your certificate.

  • Re-issue: Administrative errors Within the six-month period after certification (first issue), but not later than a year after the last examination, a request for a re-issue will be considered in cases where there is sufficient proof that the mistake on the certificate, either with regard to a subject mark, subject choice or a change in result, or some aspect of the personal details, is incorrect because of a registration error by the school or department.
  • Re-issue: Alteration of Sex Description and Sex Status In the situation where the Director – General of the Department of Home Affairs has granted an application in terms of the Alteration of Sex Description and Sex Status Act, 2003, and a person’s sex-description has been altered accordingly, the person may, through the Department of Basic Education or Provincial Education Department, make application for re-issue with a change of name/personal details (if requested), and a re-assignation of sex description on the Umalusi data-base.
  • Certified copies of the candidate’s old and new Identity Documents
  • A detailed sworn statement (affidavit) by the candidate
  • The original certificate
  • A letter from the Department of Home Affairs confirming that it has, on behalf of the person in question, acted in terms of Section 27(A) of the Births and Death Registration Act, 1992, and that it has altered the sex description (and the names) of that person
  • Application form obtainable from the DBE/PED.
  • Pay the prescribed fee by postal order at the Post Office, cash at DBE/PED office or by cheque.

  • Identity document (ID) and a certified copy of your ID
  • an affidavit stating the reasons for alteration (detailed one)
  • confirmation letter from the Department of Home Affairs
  • Birth certificate. If you don’t have a birth certificate you must bring a clinic card, baptismal certificate, or school report that states your name and date of birth.
  • Alternatively you can download the form, fill it and post it with the attached documents, including the postal order or cheque, to: Private Bag X895, Pretoria, 0001.

B. applying for replacement certificate: lost or damaged matric certificate.

If you lost or damaged your original matric certificate, you must apply for replacement at the Department of Basic Education (DBE) or Provincial Education Department (PED) by completing the Replacement application form.

You can request for the statement of results while waiting for the issue of your certificate. If the certificate is damaged, you must return the damaged certificate to the Department of Basic Education (DBE) or Provincial Education Department (PED).

  • Pay the prescribed fee by postal order at the Post Office, cash at DBE / PED office or by cheque.
  • An affidavit stating what happened to your certificate (i.e. if it is lost or damaged)
  • the original national/ senior certificate (if it is damaged), this is not applicable if it is lost
  • The original identity document (ID) and a certified copy.
  • Alternatively you can download form,  fill it in and post it with the attached documents including the postal order to: Private Bag X895, Pretoria, 0001

Note : You may apply and pay for the re-issue ONLINE  ( www.eservices.gov.za ).

It takes between four to six weeks for a Replacement certificate to be issued (for records on the system). You can obtain your statement of results immediately.

For records not on the system, it will take longer as records needs to be retrieved from the Archives and loaded on the system.

  • Replacement certificate: R170.00
  • Statement of results: additional R60.00.
  • These fees are valid from 01 April 2024 until 31 March 2025.

C. Applying for Replacement certificate: Change of status

If you wrote matric in more than one examination sitting and you want to combine your credits to qualify for a National Certificate, i.e. Senior Certificate (SC) or National Senior Certificate (NSC), you must apply for Replacement certificate: change of status. The department does not automatically combine your credits, unless you wrote a supplementary examination.

You can apply for confirmation statement of results while waiting for the National Certificate.

  • Your results from all examination sittings
  • The proof of payment

It takes four to six weeks for Replacement certificate: change of status. The combination statement of results is obtainable immediately.

It will cost you R170.00 for the Replacement certificate, and if you want a statement of results, it will cost you an additional R60.00. These fees are valid from 01 April 2024 until 31 March 2025.
