The Best Google Slides and PowerPoint Templates for Kids
Most people that work with presentations have faced the challenge of an audience composed of children. Getting (and keeping!) their attention is quite a feat and has its own particularities. Of course, we can help you with that!
The Slidesgo team loves to reinvent themselves, and after putting their creative minds to work, the number of templates for kids has been growing little by little. So, in this article we are going to show you the best slides for the young ones , all of them 100% editable in Google Slides and PowerPoint.
Pedagogical Education
What better way to start a presentation than with a bright and happy illustration? Two children and a dinosaur smiling in front of a rainbow, stars and a paper airplane. Plenty of colors to welcome everyone!
As its name suggests, this template is useful for topics related to pedagogy or education, which are so much in demand by users, especially with the boom of distance learning and virtual classrooms.
Speaking of virtual, there are certain elements that are practically universal and attract the gaze of our eyes. Emojis ! A very simple and understandable way for everyone to convey feelings. What if you tried using them as part of an infographic, as seen in the following example?
Visit Slidesgo and download for free the Pedagogical Education template . Once you have edited it to your liking, feel free to use it in class or in lectures!
Clase Seño Loli
Class is about to start! In order to make the students feel eager to learn, we propose the following: a slide design in which the backgrounds look like the pages of a notebook and the illustrations have textures.
Once you’ve started the lesson, you’ll need to keep the children looking at the screen while you’re imparting knowledge. This can be achieved, for example, with a combination of various colors, adorable pictures (look, a pencil with legs!) and fun typography.
You may have noticed that the content is written in Spanish by default. Variety is the spice of life! Remember that, if you need it in another language, everything in the presentation is editable, from the text to the layouts.
Do you like what you’ve just seen? Download the Clase Seño Loli template and make education entertaining and instructive at the same time.
School Assignments
A student’s work goes beyond being in class. Teachers often assign homework so that the student can demonstrate what he or she has learned with some exercises. You can be creative when giving assignments! For example, you can use a presentation like this one and spark interest in learning.
It’s a good idea to show fun things such as crayons or paints, as these are items that the children themselves can use. In fact, to get kids even more involved, you can try adding photos that reinforce the concepts and, at the same time, illustrate how entertaining learning can be. With a slide like the one below, you’ll have no problem:
The School Assignments template and many others are only available for Premium users. If you want to know all the advantages that Slidesgo subscriptions have to offer, you can visit this page and see for yourself. We are sure you won’t regret being part of this great family!
Evolution as Such!
A long time ago, a man named Charles Darwin wondered about the origin of all species and wrote one of the most recognizable books. Evolution is a very interesting topic for a science class, so sooner or later every teacher will have to talk about it. Here is this proposal: a template with many animals and many irregulars and eye-catching shapes.
If there is something that children love, it is watching videos. This type of audiovisual resource is quite interesting, since it allows you to complement the lesson and, at the same time, show examples of your explanations. The best thing is that there is a slide prepared for you to insert your own multimedia content. In fact, if you need help with that, you can take a look at Slidesgo’s tutorials. This one is for Google Slides and this one is for PowerPoint .
Try the Evolution as Such ! and proceed to give one of the most memorable lessons for your students, but first don’t forget to edit it!
COVID Outbreak for Kids
It is inevitable to think that COVID has influenced our lives during the past year, and most likely will do so in 2021. How could you explain to children what this virus is and what can be done to prevent it? Using a presentation like the one below. Even the little animals are wearing masks to set an example!
The backgrounds feature some drawings of clouds and plants to give the impression that the characters are outdoors. The style of the illustrations is so adorable that it really helps the little ones to pay attention to an important topic like this. And if you need to go further, you can always try using icons to relate them to the textual content. Take a look at this example!
Get the COVID Outbreak for Kids template and edit it to show slides able to teach them everything they need to do to be safe from the virus.
Now that you’ve seen a few presentations perfect for kids, do you feel like expanding your repertoire even more? Visit Slidesgo and find all our child-friendly templates for PowerPoint and Google Slides , useful for all kinds of educational purposes.

The impacts of disasters on children in rural settings has been studied extensively in international settings, but only limited rigorous research has been conducted within the United States. While it is clear the experiences of rural regions in the United States differ from those in an urban setting, further research is required to assess specific barriers and challenges facing rural children in blue sky times, and in times of disaster. Aiming to advocate for a more equitable disaster response, the following study aims to begin addressing this knowledge gap through a comprehensive literature review, qualitative research, and culminating in formative recommendations. Funded by a grant from Save the Children US, this aimed to enhance understanding of the unique barriers and challenges that rural children and communities may face during disaster.
Many communities, systems and child-serving institutions are not sufficiently prepared to meet the unique needs of children when a crisis strikes. Recognizing the role of external partners during disaster, particularly funders of in-kind or fiscal donation, the notion of strong local community partnerships remains a critical opportunity and ideal standard of practice for response organization engagement after disaster. Therefore, this project included a qualitative formative study on the application of the concept of localization drawn from interview with rural community organizations about their experiences and what they need to serve the children in their communities throughout the disaster lifecycle.
In collaboration with Save the Children US, The National Center for Disaster Preparedness (NCDP) at the Columbia Climate School, Columbia University established the following research objectives:
Study Objectives
Conduct a literature review of research on the impact of disasters on rural children pertaining to key areas of childcare, child welfare, food security, psychosocial support, and housing security paying specific attention to barriers and challenges.
Explore how differing classifications of rurality can affect data representation, policies, and disaster response aid provided to rural communities and its children.
Apply a localization framework to a domestic context by interviewing representatives of local rural partner organizations serving children and/or families to better understand their needs and expectations of large disaster response organizations during disaster. Summarize these findings into key recommendations for response organizations working in rural communities.
Identify and collate of key rural indicators of child health, well-being, and opportunities to populate a data dashboard.
Methodology
Beginning with a literature review, the team utilized a systematized approach which included both peer-reviewed and grey literature. Search terms were identified and organized for each area of focus (childcare, child welfare, food security, psychosocial support, housing security) with a specific focus on ‘child’ and ‘rural’. Additional data sources were explored to supplement the review process and support findings. NCDP also completed a comprehensive review of federally used rural definitions to identify one that provides the most accurate rural experience.
In addition to the literature review, the team conducted a formative qualitative study on the application of the concept of localization in a rural context. Sourcing from a list of potential study participants from Save the Children US, the NCDP research team conducted semi-structured in-depth interviews with community-based organization representatives serving children and families in education, psychosocial support, and food security in multiple communities across rural America. Interviews were built around localization frameworks and were led, recorded, transcribed, and analyzed for common themes.
In recognition of the lack of comprehensive rural data, the team compiled census data and other secondary data sources to crate national data tables which applying a specific rural definition.
Lastly, the NCDP team summarized the findings of each research component outlined above into reports of key findings and recommendations which seek to inform thought leadership on serving rural children and families during disaster.

Space cadet: Rep. Sheila Jackson Lee tells schoolkids that moon is a ‘planet’ and ‘made up mostly of gases’

Thanks for contacting us. We've received your submission.
WASHINGTON — Rep. Sheila Jackson Lee (D-Texas) stunned attendees at a high school solar eclipse event Monday by claiming the rock-solid moon is a “planet” that is “made up mostly of gases” — before adding she still wants to be “first in line” to learn how to live there.
The former top Democrat on the House Science Committee’s space subcommittee badly botched elementary lunar facts while speaking during the gathering at Booker T. Washington High School in Houston.
“You’ve heard the word ‘full moon.’ Sometimes you need to take the opportunity just to come out and see a full moon is that complete rounded circle, which is made up mostly of gases,” Jackson Lee, 74, told teenage pupils who gathered on a sports field ahead of the rare celestial event.
“And that’s why the question is why or how could we as humans live on the moon? Are the gases such that we could do that?” the congresswoman said.
“The sun is a mighty powerful heat, but it’s almost impossible to go near the sun. The moon is more manageable.”
Jackson Lee made a series of other questionable statements, including saying the moon, which reflects the sun’s light, gives off “unique light and energy” and misstating the scientific reason for the eclipse.
“You have the energy of the moon at night,” she told the kids.
The solar eclipse was happening because the Earth was unusually close to the moon, she said — though, in fact, the eclipse was the result of the alignment of the sun and moon.
“I don’t think we’ve been on the moon the last 50 years. So we will be landing on the moon. What you’ll see today will be the closest distance that the moon has ever been in the last 20 years. Which means that’s why they will shut the light down because they will be close to the Earth,” she said of the eclipse alignment.
“I don’t know about you, I want to be first in line to know how to live and to be able to survive on the moon,” Jackson Lee added. “That’s another planet which we’re going to see shortly.”
Jackson Lee is notorious in DC for high staff turnover because of her allegedly unusual and abusive demands of staffers.
In a statement to The Post on Tuesday, she admitted she was wrong to describe the moon, which has virtually no atmosphere, as being composed mostly of gas to the schoolkids.
“Obviously I misspoke and meant to say the sun, but as usual, Republicans are focused on stupid things instead of stuff that really matters. What can I say, though, foolish thinkers lust for stupidity!” she said of GOPers who swiftly criticized her glaring gaffes.
“They should be focusing on issues like prenatal care, building more affordable housing, and more reduction of student loan debt as President Joe Biden is,” Jackson Lee said. “Also, I care more about these children who would not have experienced the eclipse in this enthusiastic manner. And, I care more about protecting the rights of women and children than engaging in this kind of senseless dialogue!”
Jackson Lee has not deleted from her X page the footage of herself providing the miseducation to local students.
The video went viral after it was clipped and reposted by Houston-area radio host Kenny Webster.
“As a local Houston talk radio personality, she supplies us with a never-ending vault of content. She’s better than satire,” Webster told The Post.
