They can go to a swimming pool, park or any other place where they can enjoy playing. There are so many things for children to do during summer. They can also go on a trip with their family and friends.

People can also enjoy their time by sitting outside their homes. And castles make for a perfect summer day at the beach. When going to the pool, one will most likely find a suntan lotion dispenser. From late afternoon thunderstorms to s'mores by the campfire with friends and family, summers are a wonderful time of year filled with many different stereotypical memories that pop into mind as the word is spoken.

There are different seasons in a year, summer, monsoon, autumn, winter, and spring. With each season, we witness certain changes not only in our lives but also on our Earth. Seasons are reminders to us that change is inevitable. India is one of the few countries that experiences all six seasons in a year. They are summer, monsoon, autumn, pre-winter, winter, and spring. However, these seasons vary from region to region due to factors like latitude, longitude, topography, and environmental factors. As per the Hindu calendar, each season is divided into two months throughout the year.

The summer season is one of the main seasons in a tropical country like India. Summer sets in April and continues up to the end of July. Summer is usually associated with hot, dry weather. The days are longer, and the nights are shorter during this season. From late morning to midnight, heat persists during the summer months.

In the Hindu calendar, these months are called Jyeshta and Aashaadha. In India, since the tropic of cancer passes through the northern hemisphere, the states of Gujarat, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, and Chhattisgarh experience the summer season. The temperature in some places increases up to 50o Celsius.

Disadvantages

The days become so hot and long that people suffer from terrible heat right from the morning till midnight. It becomes difficult for people to commute. Most people are spotted in light dresses, sunglasses, and sandals. On some days, a hot and dusty wind blows at noon and makes life more miserable. People prefer staying indoors. In the northern part of India, this wind is called 'Loo', and it is not safe to get exposed to this. In the daytime, the scorching heat of the sun affects normal life. The difficulties in this season are innumerable. Ponds and pools dry up. The water level in wells also goes down. A water crisis is felt almost everywhere. The absence of enough trees and persistent pollution aggravates the problems in summer. The weak and the old sometimes fall victim to sunstrokes in the hot sun. Birds and stray animals face lots of hardship, as they don't get sufficient water to drink. Many health issues like dysentery, dehydration, and diarrhoea are prevalent in this season. The towns and cities look deserted in the afternoons. Everything comes to a standstill during the day because of the simmering rays of the sun. The nights become pleasant, and most activities are done after the sunset during this season.

Besides the innumerable difficulties people face, it is the most awaited season, especially by the students. They get over with their final exams, and it is vacation time for them as well as their parents. They plan to visit their grandparents or places like hill stations to escape the heat. Some also go to the beaches, as they are very pleasant at night. Children take up many indoor activities. Swimming and other water sports are some favorite outdoor activities in this season, making it somewhat pleasant. Summer break for the students is a good time for learning various new activities. Most students go for summer camps at cooler places.

Various kinds of vegetation thrive around us. Many kinds of fruits and flowers are available in this season. Mango is the most dominant fruit of the summer season. Other fruits like jackfruits, guava, litchis, watermelons, and pineapples are available in plenty in the summer season.

We can see many beautiful animals and creatures thriving in our surroundings since they wake up from their hibernation.

Cold drinks, ice-creams, and watery fruit juices like grapes, cucumber, watermelon, are in high demand in this season. People prefer cold foods like kulfis, chilled juices, etc.

It is an important season for the farmers. They sow seeds for new crops because this climate is favorable for the cultivation of the crops. They sow Zaid crops like pumpkin, cucumber, and bitter gourd, etc.

Important festivals like Buddha Purnima, Rath yatra are celebrated during this season. Some more important festivals like Baisakhi, Ram Navami, Raja Parva, and Hanuman Jayanti are also celebrated.

The summer season, which is full of heat and dust, is a blessing in disguise. The scorching rays of the sun evaporate the water from all water bodies at this time, and this phenomenon gives way to the advent of the rainy season. The low pressure created over the landmass of India during this season is responsible for months-long monsoon rain.

Like all other seasons, summer has its own uniqueness. There are both advantages and disadvantages in this season but this season can be enjoyed to the fullest.

Essay on Summer Season

The summer season, characterized by its warm weather and longer days, is a period of vibrancy and vitality that affects life on Earth in profound ways. This essay delves into the essence of the summer season, exploring its impact on the natural environment, human activities, and the cultural significance it holds across various communities, especially for students in the United States who are keen on understanding and writing about this luminous time of the year.

Summer is one of the four temperate seasons, marking the transition from spring to autumn. In the Northern Hemisphere, it spans from June to August, while in the Southern Hemisphere, it occurs from December to February. This season is primarily associated with warm to hot weather, extended daylight hours, and a flourishing of flora and fauna. Summer’s onset is heralded by the Summer Solstice, the longest day of the year, which is a significant astronomical event celebrated in many cultures.

Impact on the Natural Environment

Flourishing of flora and fauna.

Summer brings about a transformation in the natural landscape. Trees and plants, which have been dormant during the cold months, burst into life, displaying lush foliage and vibrant flowers. This season is crucial for the growth cycle of many species, providing optimal conditions for photosynthesis, the process by which plants produce energy. The abundance of plant life, in turn, supports a wider ecosystem, including insects, birds, and mammals, which thrive on the availability of food and favorable living conditions.

Climate and Weather Patterns

The weather during summer can range from pleasantly warm to intensely hot, depending on the geographical location. Regions closer to the equator experience higher temperatures and humidity, while coastal areas might enjoy cooler breezes. This season is also marked by various weather phenomena, such as thunderstorms, hurricanes, and monsoons in certain parts of the world, shaped by the complex interplay of atmospheric conditions.

Human Activities and Lifestyle Changes

Leisure and recreation.

Summer is synonymous with vacation, leisure, and outdoor activities. With schools and universities on break, it is a time for travel, exploration, and relaxation. Families often take holidays, visiting beaches, mountains, and national parks. Activities such as swimming, hiking, and camping become popular, taking advantage of the favorable weather. Summer camps and workshops offer children and adolescents opportunities for learning and personal development outside the traditional classroom setting.

Agricultural Significance

For agricultural communities, summer is a busy season of growth and cultivation. It is a critical time for planting and tending to crops that will be harvested in the fall. The warm weather accelerates the growth of many plants, making it essential for farmers to manage their fields carefully to ensure a bountiful harvest.

Cultural Festivals and Celebrations

Summer is a season rich with cultural significance and festivity. Many communities across the globe celebrate summer solstice festivals, which often have ancient roots and traditions. In the United States, the Fourth of July, or Independence Day, is a major summer holiday characterized by fireworks, parades, and barbecues, commemorating the nation’s history and values.

Advantages and Disadvantages

Advantages of Summer Season:

  • Warm Weather: The most obvious advantage of summer is the warm and pleasant weather. It provides an opportunity for people to enjoy the outdoors, go to the beach, have picnics, and engage in various recreational activities.
  • Sunshine: Summer offers abundant sunshine, which is essential for the body’s production of vitamin D. Sunlight can also improve mood and mental well-being.
  • Outdoor Activities: Summer is the perfect time for outdoor sports and activities like swimming, hiking, camping, biking, and playing sports like baseball, soccer, and tennis.
  • Vacations: Many people take advantage of the summer season to go on vacations, explore new places, and spend quality time with family and friends.
  • Gardening: Gardening enthusiasts thrive in the summer season as it provides ideal conditions for planting and growing a wide variety of flowers, fruits, and vegetables.
  • Festivals and Events: Summer is the season of festivals and events, offering opportunities to celebrate cultural, music, food, and art festivals in many parts of the world.
  • Extended Daylight: Longer daylight hours mean more time for outdoor activities, extended evenings, and an overall boost in productivity.
  • Fresh Produce: Summer is the season for fresh and locally grown fruits and vegetables, making it a great time to enjoy a healthy diet.

Disadvantages of Summer Season:

  • High Temperatures: While warm weather can be enjoyable, excessive heat can be uncomfortable and even dangerous, leading to heat-related illnesses like heatstroke and heat exhaustion.
  • Dehydration: Hot weather can lead to increased water loss through perspiration, which requires people to stay hydrated by drinking more water.
  • Sunburn and Skin Issues: Prolonged exposure to the sun can cause sunburn, premature aging of the skin, and increase the risk of skin cancer. Skin protection is essential during the summer.
  • Insect Pests: Summer is a season when various insects and pests are more active, potentially leading to annoyance and the need for pest control measures.
  • Allergies: Pollen levels tend to be high during the summer, triggering allergies in some individuals, leading to symptoms like sneezing, congestion, and itchy eyes.
  • Increased Energy Costs: Running air conditioning and fans to stay cool in the summer can lead to higher energy bills, especially in regions with extreme heat.
  • Crowds and Traffic: Popular vacation destinations can become crowded during the summer months, leading to traffic congestion and long lines at tourist attractions.
  • Difficulty Sleeping: Hot summer nights can make it challenging to get a good night’s sleep, leading to discomfort and fatigue.

Health and Well-being

Benefits of sunlight.

Summer’s ample sunlight provides essential vitamin D, beneficial for bone health and immune function. The longer days encourage people to spend more time outdoors, promoting physical activity and mental well-being. However, it is crucial to balance sun exposure with proper protection to prevent skin damage and heat-related illnesses.

Challenges and Precautions

The heat of summer also poses health risks, such as dehydration, heatstroke, and sunburn. It is essential to stay hydrated, wear protective clothing, and use sunscreen to mitigate these risks. Especially in regions experiencing extreme heatwaves, taking precautions to stay cool is vital for health and safety.

Educational Opportunities

Learning and exploration.

Summer offers a unique opportunity for educational exploration outside the traditional academic calendar. Many students engage in internships, volunteer work, or research projects, allowing them to apply their knowledge in practical settings and gain valuable experience. Libraries and museums often host summer programs, encouraging continued learning and intellectual engagement.

The Value of Rest and Reflection

Additionally, summer provides a chance for students to rest and reflect on their academic and personal growth. This break from the structured demands of school can be a crucial period for rejuvenation and setting goals for the future.

Environmental Considerations

Sustainability and conservation.

The season’s increased energy consumption, due to air conditioning and travel, highlights the importance of sustainability and conservation. Summer serves as a reminder of the need to protect our natural environment and consider our impact on the planet.

The summer season, with its warm weather and extended daylight, profoundly influences the natural world and human life. It is a time of growth, vitality, and celebration, offering opportunities for leisure, learning, and personal development. However, it also poses challenges that require attention and care. As we embrace the joys and activities of summer, it is essential to do so with a sense of responsibility towards our health and the environment. For students and participants in essay writing competitions, understanding the multifaceted aspects of summer not only enriches their writing but also deepens their appreciation for this vibrant season.

Its golden rays, though fierce, bring out the vibrancy in everything they touch. The sun is not merely a source of light and warmth but a symbol of the relentless spirit of life. It stands as a testament to the power of perseverance, illuminating the world even in the harshest conditions, teaching us the value of resilience and determination.

Summer: A Season of Discovery

Summer is also a season of discovery and exploration. The long, sunlit days provide ample time to embark on adventures, explore new places, and immerse oneself in novel experiences. The season’s heat may be challenging, but it is also a call to action, urging us to step out of our comfort zones and face the world head-on. It is during these summer adventures that we often discover hidden aspects of our personalities, learning to appreciate our strengths and accept our weaknesses.

The Vibrancy of Life

Summer is synonymous with life’s vibrancy. From the lush green foliage of trees to the colourful bloom of flowers, the season paints a picture of life in its most dynamic form. The chirping of birds, the buzzing of insects, and the rustling of leaves create a symphony of natural sounds that add to the season’s charm. This vibrancy is not just an aesthetic delight but a reminder of the beauty of life and the importance of living each moment to the fullest.

Summer’s Social Aspects

The social aspect of summer is another reason for my fondness for the season. Summer breaks from college provide an opportunity to spend time with family and friends, strengthening bonds and creating cherished memories. The season’s warmth fosters a sense of community as people gather for barbecues, beach outings, and summer festivals. These social interactions not only provide joy but also help develop our social skills and understanding of interpersonal relationships.

In conclusion, my affection for summer is not just because of the warm weather or the extended daylight. It is a favourite because of the life lessons it imparts, the opportunities for self-discovery it provides, and the social interactions it fosters. The season’s vibrancy and energy serve as a constant reminder to embrace life, face challenges head-on, and appreciate the beauty in every moment. Summer, with all its heat and brilliance, truly symbolizes the zest for life.

Feature image of Short Essay on My Favourite Season

My favourite season of the year is summer. It begins in April and ends in June. During the summer season, days are long and nights are short. The skies are clear and the sun is bright. We get month-long summer vacation and can stay at home with our parents and family without having to worry about school. We usually go to visit our grandparents in the village during the summer season.

In the village, I get the opportunity to play with the neighbourhood kids in mango and guava orchards that surround my grandparents’ place. They teach me new games and I always have a great time with them. Summer is also the season of mangoes. We get to eat so many varieties of juicy, delicious mangoes.

My favourite season of the year is winter. The Winter months are very cold as the temperature drops low. It also snows in the northern, high-altitude parts of the country. We wear a lot of warm clothes and eat hot foods to keep us warm. Our metabolism increases during the winter season and thus, we can eat a lot of delicious food. Hot drinks like tea, coffee and hot chocolate are also welcomed.

During the winter season, we usually go on a week-long vacation to hill stations to enjoy the snow. I make snowmen with my parents and siblings and go ice staking as well. There, at night, we create small bonfires to warm ourselves and chit-chat with each other. Winter is also the season of festivities as we celebrate Diwali, Christmas and New Year in winter.

My mother always bakes cakes for us on Christmas and they are warm and delicious. When I don’t have school, I like staying in bed covered in a thick quilt and reading my favourite storybooks. I also go out to play cricket and badminton with my friends every afternoon as it warms my body and keeps me active. Due to the cold weather, we don’t sweat much and can play for a long time. Because of all these reasons, I like the winter season.

Out of the four predominant seasons, my favourite is the monsoon or the rainy season. It starts to rain heavily all over the country by July. As it rains, the water washes away all the dust from plants and trees, making them look green and beautiful again. As the rain hits the dried-up ground, the smell of wet earth fills the atmosphere and makes our hearts dance.

New seedlings begin to sprout and grasses and plants begin to grow all around us. Our surroundings are covered in green and look very mesmerising. As India is an agricultural country, the rainy season is very important for us. Rains irrigate fields and help crops grow. Without rain, most of our major crops will fail, causing loss of business and even starvation. As my grandparents and uncles are farmers, I have experienced the joy that the rainy season brings to farmers very closely.

I also like the rainy season because when it rains heavily, I do not need to go to school. Sometimes, even my parents take leave and then our whole family gets to enjoy the day together. My mother makes delicious fritters with tea which we enjoy while playing board games like ludo and carrom. My father is very fond of flowering plants and we have a lot of plants in our garden. During the rainy season, our garden looks majestic with hundreds of blooming flowers in many different colours.

My friends often come over to my house and we enjoy playing in the garden when the rain stops. We make paper boats and put them in water puddles. Sometimes, we also compete to see whose boat would go farther. Sometimes our parents allow us to go outside when it is raining and then, we enjoy jumping in puddles, getting drenched and playing in rain. It is very fun to play in the rain. After that, my mother makes hot soup for us to warm us up.

When it rains at night and electricity is cut, we get to enjoy our food in candlelight. After dinner, we go straight to bed and tell each other ghost stories. I and my siblings always try to scare each other. When it rains for days, I like to sit by the window and read my favourite books while watching the rain. The rainy season is very special for me and when it ends in September, I wish for it to come quickly next year.

So hopefully, after going through this session, all your confusion regarding this topic has been cleared. Post your doubts if you have any, in the comment section below. I will try my level best to address your queries. Keep browsing our website for more such content.

Table of Contents

Essay on My Favourite Season Winter

Winter is the best of all seasons and I like this season the most. December, January and February are the three winter months. The weather at this time is very pleasant. In this season we can work hard but do not get tired. We put on warm clothes and enjoy the bright sunshine. The nights are very cold. The night in a warm bed under a quilt is very comfortable.

Paddy is harvested in this season. Colourful seasonal flowers grow in gardens. Fish, vegetables and fruits are also available in plenty in this season. They are very cheap also. This is the most suitable time for holding picnics in the open air. We can go out and hold excursions in winter.

Various types of fairs are held and festivals like Saraswati Puja, Christmas, and New Year’s Day are celebrated in this season. While we enjoy the cool comfort of the winter, the poor people suffer a lot during these months. They do not have warm clothes to protect them from cold. Overall I love this season very much.

My Favourite Season Summer Essay

Of all the six seasons, my favourite season is summer. It is the hottest season of the year. The summer season starts in March and ends in June. In this season the sun shines brightly. The best part of this season is summer vacation. This is a great relief from a hectic schedule, home works, and exam pressure. I enjoy the vacation by going to a beach or a hill station with friends and families. In summer I like to have cold drinks, lassi, ice cream, and coconut water.

We get many fruits in this season like mango, watermelon, litchi, jackfruit, pineapple etc. Many festivals such as charak puja, Rama Navami, Baisakhi, Rabindra Jayanti, etc. are celebrated in this season. There are varieties of fruits and vegetables available during this season. Many beautiful flowers like Lilly, Marigold, Roses, Dahlia, and Sunflower bloom in this season. Summer is just a wonderful season with so much fun and enjoyment.

my favourite season summer essay

My Favourite season Rainy Season

The season I like most is the Rainy season or monsoon. In India, this season begins in mid-June and ends in early September. Rainy season comes after the scorching heat of summer season and gives us relief. Clouds float here and there in the sky. Lightning and thunder occur frequently. People can be seen with umbrellas and raincoats. Dry rivers and lakes become full.

Farmers plough their fields. Children become very happy. They make paper boats and dance in the rain. A variety of fruits, vegetables, and crops grow in this season. Beautiful flowers blossom in this time. Beautiful rainbows can be seen in the sky.  This season brings a lot of festivals like Raksha Bandhan, 15th August, Teej, Janmashtami, etc. We can enjoy various types of dishes in the rain.

But sometimes heavy rainfall brings the flood. Flood causes many to lose their lives, houses, and livelihood. On the other hand, if there is no rainfall for a long time, drought can occur. This causes extensive damage to crops. So, the Rainy season is an important season for us.

The natural beauty of the season is greatly appealing to me.

My Favourite Season Autumn Essay

During the rainy season, the sky remains overcast with clouds. Rains fall continually. But, with autumn, the clouds are no more. A deep blue sky spreads, like a deep blue sea. The white patches of clouds float like little fairy boats.

The day looks golden with the sun shining. The night has a silvery moon, with its silvery luster. The millions of stars, too, sparkle. Now and then, rain begins to fall thick and fast. But then suddenly the rain stops and, again, a deep blue sky smiles. In autumn, the rivers are full to the brim. The fields are all green and golden with crops. Men and women are busy among them, reaping the harvest. Nature and man seem to unite in one mood of peaceful gladness. Autumn is my favourite season.

My Favourite Season Example 1

Seasons come and go, each with its unique characteristics that make it stand out. However, my favorite season is autumn. It is a time of change and beauty. The cool weather, the beautiful foliage, and the many outdoor activities make it a season to look forward to. In this essay, I will explain why autumn is my favorite season.

My favorite season is autumn because of the cool weather and beautiful foliage. After the hot and humid summer, the cool weather that autumn brings is a welcome relief. The temperature is just right, not too hot and not too cold. The air becomes crisp and refreshing, making it perfect for outdoor activities. The leaves on the trees change color and fall, creating a beautiful landscape. The red, yellow, and orange colors of the leaves are a sight to behold. The cool weather and the beautiful foliage are the main reasons why autumn is my favorite season.

During autumn, the air becomes crisp and refreshing, and I enjoy outdoor activities such as hiking and apple picking. The cool weather makes it perfect for outdoor activities that were not possible in the summer. Hiking is one of my favorite activities, and during autumn, the weather is perfect for it. The trails are not too crowded, and the scenery is beautiful. Apple picking is another activity that I enjoy during autumn. It is a fun activity that allows me to enjoy the cool weather and the beautiful foliage.

The changing colors of the leaves create a picturesque landscape that is a joy to behold. The red, yellow, and orange colors of the leaves make the landscape look like a painting. The changing colors of the leaves also symbolize change and remind us that nothing is permanent. The leaves fall, and the trees become bare, but they will grow new leaves in the spring. The changing colors of the leaves make autumn a season of reflection and appreciation.

In conclusion, autumn is my favorite season because of the cool weather, beautiful foliage, and the many outdoor activities. The cool weather makes it perfect for outdoor activities such as hiking and apple picking, and the changing colors of the leaves create a picturesque landscape that is a joy to behold. Autumn is a season of change and reflection, and it reminds us that nothing is permanent.

My Favourite Season Essay Example 2

Every season has its own unique charm and beauty, but there is always one that stands out as a personal favorite. For me, that season is autumn. From the stunning foliage to the comfortable temperatures, there are so many reasons why I love this time of year. In this essay, I will explain why autumn is my favourite season by exploring its beautiful scenery, outdoor activities, and cozy atmosphere.

The first reason why autumn is my favourite season is the breathtaking foliage that it brings. As the leaves begin to change colour, the entire landscape transforms into a stunning display of red, orange, and yellow. The trees appear to be on fire, and it is truly a sight to behold. I love taking long walks during this time of year, admiring the beauty of nature and feeling the crisp air on my face. There is something incredibly peaceful about being surrounded by such natural beauty.

Another reason why I love autumn is the perfect weather it brings. The heat of summer has subsided, and the chill of winter has not yet arrived. This makes it the ideal time for outdoor activities such as hiking and apple picking. The cool, dry air is refreshing and invigorating, and it makes physical activity much more enjoyable. I love spending my weekends exploring the outdoors during this time of year, soaking up the beauty of the season and staying active at the same time.

Finally, autumn is a special time of year because of the cozy atmosphere it creates. As the days get shorter and the weather gets cooler, people tend to spend more time indoors. This creates the perfect opportunity for indulging in seasonal treats such as pumpkin spice lattes and apple cider. The warm and comforting flavours of these drinks make them the perfect accompaniment to a cozy night in. Additionally, the soft lighting and warm blankets create a relaxing and inviting atmosphere that is perfect for spending time with loved ones.

In conclusion, autumn is my favourite season for many reasons. From the stunning foliage to the perfect weather and cozy atmosphere, there is so much to love about this time of year. Whether I am enjoying a brisk walk through the woods or cuddled up with a warm drink, I always feel a sense of peace and contentment during the autumn months. It is truly a special time of year, and I am grateful for the beauty and joy it brings to my life.

These Summer 2024 Bag Trends Are the Only Ones Worth Knowing This Season

W herever the summer takes you, be sure to have the right bag. And no, we don’t mean the most practical, efficient bag. We mean the cutest and trendiest, obviously.

A stylish little It bag in the summer holds a power difficult to put into words, but you just know it when you feel it. There’s a confidence you (literally) carry when you have a purse and an outfit you feel great about in the summer. To help you build—or at least buy—that confidence, we’ve gathered our favorite summer 2024 bag trends that are sure to be your tried-and-trues throughout the warmer months.

From slouchy bags to lady bags to the continued Y2K dominance (manifested here through paillette and barrel bags), there’s a chic bag—including some amazing designer options —for every aesthetic you might want to embrace this summer. Get in on the trends and shop below.

Barrel Bags

If there’s one trend that’s so 2000s but so timeless at the same time, it’s barrel bags. Who can forget the Louis Vuitton Papillon handbags discontinued in 2009? After a 2018 internship with Law Roach, where I searched every vintage store and eBay seller imaginable to find the Takashi Murakami x LV Papillon for Ariana Grande’s “Thank U, Next” music video (and yes, I found one, go watch), imagine my shock when not one, not two, but several runways this past season featured the cylindrical-shaped bags. This time, though, they’re simple, minimalist and modern.

Sea Creatures

It’s true, we all want to be on the beach this summer, in the water, under the sun, swimming carefree. If you can’t be your own creature of the sea, you can at least carry one with you. Whimsical and summery, fish and shell bags are the new novelty bag for the season. It’s not a toy, it’s not tacky; it’s pure, cheeky, nautical-adjacent fun.

Crocheted Bags

Crocheted dresses, crocheted shoes, and yes, crocheted bags are fashion’s answer to summertime bohemian culture. It just doesn’t quite hit the same in the colder months, so now’s the time for these colorful, loose knits to shine.

Slouchy Bags

In the same vein as crocheted accessories, slouchy bags are the epitome of the boho chic trend seen on the runways for current and upcoming seasons, like at Chloé and Isabel Marant. They hold everything you could possibly need for all your summer adventures.

Paillette Bags

The paillette bag has continued to be a staple when it comes to trends, no matter the season. Still, summertime offers a vibe shift that beckons the flirty movement and bright shimmers that paillette bags offer when they catch the light.

For some fashionable folks out there, it very well could be the summer of the Swans . ’60s-esque top-handle bags offer a prim and proper way to accessorize your summer. Pair them with chic linen pants and your favorite kitten heel for an effortlessly elegant look.

East West, Continued

We’ve all seen them and loved them: the East-West bag, or as they’re more traditionally known, the baguette bag . The oblong shape has become more and more exaggerated to evolve into its own style name, and if you didn’t notice that they were everywhere this spring, you’ll certainly notice this summer as Alaïa’s Le Teckel trickles down.

Sustainably Minded

Summer tends to be the season we appreciate the earth just a little more (even though yes, every day should be Earth Day). But we can start our summer right by supporting bag brands that make an effort to be more sustainably minded. Brands like Polène, Advene, and Coachtopia (Coach’s recycled collection) incorporate sustainable practices into the business to reduce their carbon footprints. And that’s the hottest trend there is.

This time of year is hot, humid, and dry, and because of the Earth's tilt toward the Sun, some regions can experience very high temperatures. Here are some sample essays on summer season.

Summer Season Essay

100 Words Essay on Summer Season

The summer months are the hottest of the year, which makes outdoor activities nearly impossible throughout the day. Due to its cooling impact, most people like morning walks. The wind is hot, dry, and dusty all day long. Due to the summer, people can occasionally develop health issues. The following are some guidelines we should abide by this summer:

The weather is quite sunny.

We ought to dress in relaxed cotton clothing.

To combat the summer heat, we should consume cold foods and beverages.

To avoid dehydration and heat exhaustion, we must drink lots of water.

To protect birds from the summer heat, we should provide a bowl of water and some rice in the hallway.

200 Words Essay on Summer Season

Out of the four seasons of the year, summer is the warmest. It starts on the Summer Solstice day and finishes on the Autumnal Equinox day. Because the Southern and Northern Hemispheres are in opposite directions, it is winter when it is summer in the Southern Hemisphere. The season of extreme heat, dry weather, and intense monsoons contribute to growing death tolls. The high temperatures during this season allow the weather to warm up, which causes droughts with limited water supplies, scarcity, or complete water shortages in some areas. This season's sweltering weather, which causes issues for people and wildlife, is brought on by heat waves and temperature rises.

Take Care Of Your Health In Summers

Dehydration brought on by summer heat waves is a common cause of human and animal mortality. High heat waves cause the summer's worst extreme weather, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. According to NASA, human-caused global warming is causing summertime temperatures to rise yearly. As a result, it is wise to drink plenty of water all season long. In the summer, men and women should typically drink 3.7 litres of water daily, according to the Food and Nutrition Board of the National Academy of Sciences. People who engage in strenuous activity must consume more water than usual.

500 Words Essay on Summer Season

Summer is one of the major seasons in a tropical nation like India. The start of summer in March and its duration through the end of July. Typically, summer brings with it hot, dry weather. During this time of year, the nights are shorter and the days longer. In the summer, the heat lasts from early morning until late at night.

These months are Jyeshta and Aashaadha, according to the Hindu calendar. The summer season is experienced in the Indian states of Gujarat, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, and Chhattisgarh since the tropic of cancer crosses the northern hemisphere. Some regions experience temperature spikes of up to 50 degrees Celsius.

Activities During the Summer

Children enjoy the summer the most since it is when they are released from their academic responsibilities and can spend their days playing and causing trouble. Additionally, youngsters travel during the summer with their families to cool locations or beaches to escape the summer heat.

During the summer, kids and seniors spend most of their time indoors and entertain themselves with various games and activities. Children should be taught swimming and other water activities during this time of year so their bodies and minds can stay in shape while sweltering outside.

In addition to these activities, kids frequently consume smoothies, juices, and ice cream to stay calm and hydrated. When mangoes are in season, we often see kids picking them off of mango trees or standing next to them to harvest the ripe fruit. We also receive fruits like jackfruit, watermelon, guava, and lychee.

Even though summer is the warmest season, most of us may attempt to enjoy it fully. In the hot weather, adults, as well as children, find time to unwind and recharge. Everything will appear perfect and joyful when the Sun is beaming brightly above us.

Season's Effects

Both natural and artificial elements contribute to summer's extreme heat. These reasons also bring about numerous changes in the climate. The youngsters enjoy it despite how dry the season is.

Additionally, excessive heat can cause many issues and is dangerous. Dehydration is one issue that it frequently causes in individuals. In addition to making you feel weak and nauseous, it can also make you die. Therefore, we must consume a lot of water to keep the body hydrated. In this season, little ponds, rivers, and wells all dry up. The groundwater level drops, and situations like drought occur in some locations.

Advantages of Summer Season

Despite being hot and dusty, the summer is a blessing. All water bodies are evaporating due to the sun's harsh rays at this time, which allows the rainy season to start officially. The monsoon rains, which last for months, are caused by the low pressure that develops over India at this time.

Disadvantages of Summer Season

Most people are seen wearing light dresses, sandals, and sunglasses. A hot, dusty wind blows about noon and worsens things on certain days.

People experience severe heat from dawn till dusk since the days get so hot and long and find it more challenging to travel.

People prefer to stay inside. This wind, known as "Loo" in the northern region of India, is dangerous to be exposed to.

ABC has unveiled its Summer 2024 schedule, revealing when we can expect new seasons of returning favorites like The Bachelorette ( starring Jenn Tran! ) and celebrity guessing game Claim to Fame .

Who Wants to Be a Millionaire is also making its return to ABC after being quietly yanked from the network’s schedule back in 2022. At the time, it was reported that ABC was leaving the door “slightly ajar” for the show’s potential return, but we can now upgrade that to “fully open.”

ABC is also debuting a brand-new game show, Lucky 13 , hosted by Shaquille O’Neal and Gina Rodriguez. The trivia competition poses 13 true-or-false questions to its contestants, but there’s a twist: “Just how well do they know what they know … and, just as importantly, how well do they know what they don’t know? If they can accurately predict how successfully they’ve answered 13 questions, they could take home a $1 million cash jackpot.”

Additional returning hits include Judge Steve Harvey (Season 2), Press Your Luck (Season 6) and Celebrity Family Feud (Season 11).

Read on for a breakdown of ABC’s big summer premieres, then drop a comment with your picks. Which shows will you be using to beat the heat?

NOTE: This is your recurring reminder that ABC’s scheduling of unscripted shows is “opportunistic” — meaning, “when they need it.” So if you don’t see what you consider to be a “summer” show here, don’t jump to the worst conclusions. It may simply return… later.

Has not yet been renewed for Season 4

Lame and lazy and lowest common denominator scheduling. Just is!

But what about Holey Moley??

It’s been almost 2 years since a new episode of this “not cancelled” series.

https://tvline.com/lists/missing-tv-shows-renewed-cancelled/holey-moley-abc/

Feels almost cheating to include it in that article, since the news is “no news”.

Loved Holey Moley. What’s the deal??

I am tired of inconsequential shows, such as game shows during the summer. We deserve new drama shows or even comedy shows during the summer season. It will be time for streaming television services since they treat us as inconsequential viewers.

The viewing audience is always lower during the summer. They’re not going to waste costlier new stuff on a smaller audience when they can get by with less expensive stuff. The summer audience pretty much IS inconsequential – they measure take ratings, but they don’t get counted in the overall horserace. (which is why there’s no “August sweeps.”)

There is a July sweeps period, where there is expanded data in more markets like other sweeps periods, but it isn’t as important in the industry as November, February, and July, so we don’t get the same kind of emphasis on ratings-grabbing programming. It still helps determine local viewership and ad rates.

I’m curious and anxious to hear what “we” have done to “deserve” the programming you have indicated. We are entitled to nothing other than what they are offering and we are not obligated to tune in to any of it. Threatening an exodus to streaming is a threat they will ALL be anxious to witness, I assure you.

Are Generation Gap and The Chase cancelled?

kind of bugs me that they never seem to update us on their game shows

i was wondering this to i really liked generation gap but i guess we wont know now :(

They were discussing The Chase on Jeopardy Masters as if it is still In Active production. However, I don’t know how far back they taped the tournament to know if that mention is still relevant. Celebrity Jeopardy acted like the actress from Chicago Med was still on it even though she left years earlier.

Good to hear that Millionaire is back alongside a new show under the Millionaire guys called Lucky 13. Would’ve loved to see an American version of the original Tipping Point UK version though that also had a great start recently in Australia on its own.

I recall going in to Claim to Fame thinking I’d ditch it after one episode. Well after managing to overlook the Jonas brothers, season one was really, really good. Season two was pretty good as well. Looking forward to the coming season.

The amount of shows is quite few compared to previous summers. Normally ABC has at least 8 shows

Nothing but game show and reality shows. It’s really not for me. Are people actually excited for this stuff?

Do we know if Millionaire is going to be just regular contestants with a full audience or a celebrity/themed again?

The press release said, “This iteration will feature a new twist with two celebrity contestants playing together with the hope of winning $1 million for the charity of their choice.” I am not sure on audience, though lacking one before was due to COVID, so I feel like they would have more of one now.

Is Jimmy Kimmel going to host again?

Who cares about game shows. We want new series.

Well, get your wallet out…and we’ll all watch with ya!

Networks used to use the summer to burn off series that weren’t picked up or had leftover episodes. Much better than the waste-of-time game and reality shows. And networks moan about viewers turning to streaming…

Glad for more PYL, but no Pyramid? :(

Two seasons ago, ABC had the celebrity versions of Jeopardy and Wheel of Fortune on Sundays. With the strikes, they used them elsewhere last season and did Wonderful World of Disney last fall, but I think they could return to Sundays this season. The Rookie was still airing on Sundays when they last did, so I expect a third game show now goes there with Rookie on Tuesdays. My money is on $100,000 Pyramid but The Chase could also be a contender.

Glad to see Judge Steve Harvey back on this summer

No new drama at all? I have zero interest in any of these.

Sounds boring

When is The Chase coming back? It’s one of your best shows!! Do not cancel it like you did Card Sharks!! That was an excellent show but you disappointed us by canceling it! Bring back The Chase!!!

What is May Day? How to celebrate the spring holiday with pagan origins

essay for my summer season

Spring is in full bloom and we're halfway to summer.

May 1, known as May Day, has long been celebrated as the midway point between the spring equinox and the summer solstice. Like those days, May Day marks a specific time of year and the changing seasons − the days are growing longer , the weather is warmer and more wildlife and humans alike are out and about.

"It's a beautiful holiday, we're at the height of spring, this is a very happy holiday where one celebrates fertility in nature and in our lives," said Helen A. Berger, a sociology professor at Brandeis University in Boston studying pagan communities in the U.S.

For many, May Day is better known as International Workers' Day, a holiday supporting labor organizing and workers' rights that's been in the mainstream for generations.

Celebrations of spring marking May Day are held in many different parts of the U.S., with maypole dances in some communities. In the 20th Century, it was also popular to make May Day flower baskets and gift them to friends and neighbors.

Other holidays also fall on May 1, including a holiday celebrated in Hawaii.

Here's what you need to know about May Day:

May Day has pagan origins

May Day has origins stretching back to the Middle Ages and the holiday is one of four annual cross-quarter days in the pagan calendar, marking the midpoints between solstices and equinoxes. The most famous cross-quarter day is Halloween, falling on Oct. 31, halfway between the fall equinox and the winter solstice.

"It's an old custom," Berger said.

Halloween, also referred to as Samhain, is considered the most important cross-quarter holiday for practicing pagans and members of the wiccan community, and May Day, also called Beltane, is the next most significant, Berger said. Whereas Halloween is all about death, she said, May Day is a celebration of rebirth.

"It's opposite that of Halloween," Berger said.

Now, most May Day celebrations are free from religious dogma and are meant for anyone, said Alysha Kravetz, of Bronx, New York, who has been practicing witchcraft for 20 years.

"They're really about connecting with the Earth that we live on," Kravetz told USA TODAY.

Going back hundreds of years, communities in what is now the United Kingdom and Ireland celebrated the height of spring with rituals resembling some still observed today, Berger said. People gathered to dance around maypoles, which symbolized fertility, according to Berger. Further back in history, ancient Romans celebrated Floralia, honoring the goddess Flora, according to Kravetz.

"We can kind of trace this continuation of these themes as the Roman Empire took over Europe and took their traditions throughout Europe," Kravetz said.

Today, some school children still dance around maypoles on May 1 and there are community gatherings throughout the country, including in some churches, Kravetz said.

May Day is Lei Day in Hawaii

For nearly 100 years, people in Hawaii have celebrated May Day as Lei Day, with celebratory pageants full of colorful lei flower necklaces taking place at schools, said John Rosa, a professor of Hawaiian history at the University of Hawaii at Manoa.

"A lot of it is because spring is here, summer's around the corner and we're wrapping up the school year," he said.

Rosa said that in 1927, the poet Don Blanding was visiting Hawaii and proclaimed the now famous phrase, "May Day is Lei Day in Hawaii." The next year, people in the U.S. territory began observing the holiday with lei necklaces and festivities focused on tradition Hawaiian dances, as well as waltzes, Rosa said.

For decades, Lei Day celebrations have mostly taken place at elementary and middle schools, where some students are honored in massive schoolwide pageants, Rosa said.

"People in Hawaii who've grown up here, many of us have memories of learning how to make the particular lei," he said, referring to different flowers used to represent each of Hawaii's eight major islands .

May 1 is International Workers' Day

May 1 also is celebrated around the world as International Workers' Day, or Labor Day, a holiday honoring advances in the fight for labor rights and workplace protections.

International Workers' Day started as a commemoration of the 1886 Haymarket Square riots in Chicago, when on May 4, a bomb detonated amid massive strikes organized by workers demanding an eight hour work day. Many protesters and police were killed, according to the Library of Congress.

In 1889, an international group of socialist organizers and trade unions designated May 1 as May Day, and in 1894, U.S. President Grover Cleveland said Americans would celebrate labor on Sept. 1, or Labor Day.

Today, labor organizers − especially in Europe − rally around the May 1 holiday and use it as a time to point to the achievements of the global labor movement .

How can I celebrate May Day?

In the morning on May 1, traditional May Day gatherings will center around maypole dances, where a large pole is inserted into a hole in the ground and people weave ribbons in a pattern around it. Some celebrations also include bonfires.

While the holiday is rooted in paganism, many people who participate in maypole dances don't identify as pagan, according to Berger.

"You don't have to be pagan to be celebrating," she said.

Some maypole dance celebrations include a Morris dance , a type of traditional English folk dance, where participants wear small bells below their knees and flower crowns.

Dancing in general is a wonderful way to mark May Day, Kravetz said.

"The actual activity is less important than the intention of knowing that you're doing it to shake off those winter blues and shake off that stagnant energy," she said.

During the 1900s, in the U.S. – especially in New England – it was common for people to make May Day flower baskets − with some calling the holiday May Basket Day. Observing was simple: Hang a small basket of flowers and other goodies on someone's front door knob as a surprise.

May Day also can just be about appreciating nature's beauty and engaging in some self-reflection, Berger said. The simplest way to observe the holiday is to manifest positive energy for the rest of the year's warm seasons, she said.

"Just go out into the world, try to find a park, a path to walk along, and just take in spring, breathe in this season," Berger said.
