Admission to Ph.D. Programme in Mathematics for the Academic Year 2023-24

Degree:  Doctor of Philosophy Course:  Research Description: Doctor of Philosophy in Philosophy

The Doctoral degree in Philosophy is a popular programme run by the Department of Philosophy. The course maintains high standards and provides rigorous training to the scholars from the time they are admitted to the programme through the period of their research up until the completion of their degree. The course aims at making Ph.D. scholars successfully identify the main philosophical problems in their chosen area of research, train them in developing skills of argumentation, writing research papers, and finally in thesis writing. 

The areas of doctoral research are spread across diverse fields within philosophy covering areas such as analytical philosophy, philosophy of language, philosophy of mind, continental philosophy, Metaethics, Feminism, and Indian philosophy.

Eligilibility Requirements :

Admission to Ph.D. Program of University of Delhi is governed by the Ordinance VI of the University, its Amendments, and other notifications issued by UoD from time to time in this regard. For the academic year 2023-24, the Ph.D. registration portal shall be opened more than one time in an academic year. 6. In Phase I, only the candidates who are eligible on the basis of qualifying UGC-NET (including JRF)/ UGC-CSIR NET (including JRF)/ AYUSH-NET/DBT-JRF, ICMR-JRF, DST-INSPIRE or equivalent national level examination/fellowship (as identified by DRC)/ GATE/ teacher fellowship holders and others (as per Ordinance VI, Notification: Amendments to Ordinances dated 09th August 2017 and its Amendments approved by the Executive Council in its meeting held on 01-02.07.2019) will be able to apply. In Phase II, all eligible candidates will be able to apply. However, candidates who become eligible on the basis of appearing in the entrance test will be shortlisted for interviews after the declaration of the result of the entrance test.

NTA to conduct common PhD entrance test for DU, JNU, BHU, BBAU, apply now

Online registrations for this exam is underway at phd-entrance.samarth.ac.in and the last date to apply is September 8.

National Testing Agency (NTA) will conduct a common entrance test for admission to PhD courses offered by University of Delhi, Jawaharlal Nehru University, Banaras Hindu University (BHU) and Babasaheb Bhimrao Ambedkar University (BBAU).

Earlier, NTA used to conduct separate exams for PhD admissions at JNU and Delhi University (DUET). BBAU held entrance test at institute level for PhD courses and BHU had Research Entrance Test (RET) for integrated MPhil-PhD courses.

Medium of question papers in this exam will be English, except for Language papers. Date and time of the test will be announced later.

There is no age limit for appearing in this PhD entrance exam but candidates may require to fulfil age criteria of the university where s/he wants to take admission.

Minimum educational qualification required to appear in the PhD entrance test is postgraduate/equivalent degree. Candidates who are appearing in the qualifying exam can also apply.

The test will be held in computer based (CBT) mode and the question paper will have two sections. Section 1 is research methodology and section 2 is subject specific.

There will be 100 MCQs in each paper and the duration of the test will be 3 hours or 180 minutes.

A candidate can choose a maximum of three courses provided timing of two papers do not overlap. The list of subjects for which the test will be held has been given on the information bulletin .

Delhi University CES Admission 2024 Open, Apply from June 10

On Completion of the DU CES Course, a certificate shall be issued after fulfilling attendance criteria and successfully completing the evaluation process as applied to the regular students.

New Delhi: The Delhi University ( DU ) is inviting applicants for its Competence Enhancement Scheme (CES) for the papers offered in Semesters I, III & V of the 2024-25 academic session. Interested and eligible candidates can enroll their names for the scheme through the official website ces.du.ac.in from June 10, 2024. Candidates have to pay INR 6,000 per course to enroll in a course under Delhi University CES 2024.

What is the DU CES Scheme?

The CES Scheme (Competence Enhancement Scheme) has been introduced by DU to provide opportunity to the learners from any age/discipline/profession and to the students from other universities /institutions to study a handful of papers in this University.

Interested candidates may register for one or two papers in a semester, for a maximum of eight credits without enrolling in a programme, and study along with the regular students of a programme of study in the University Departments and the Departments of Colleges of University of Delhi.

Registration to a course shall be done based on merit. A candidate who is already enrolled in any other University/institution as a regular student or employed personnel would be required to submit a no Objection Certificate from the parent University/institution or his/her employer, as the case may be, at the time of registration. 

Who is Eligible for Delhi University CES Admission 2024?

The Delhi University CES eligibility criteria are as follows:

• Any person who fulfils the minimum eligibility criteria and pre-requisites, if any, specified for an existing course, can register for that course.
• Admission shall be done based on merit. The merit shall be decided based on the candidates’ age and the marks percentage obtained in the qualifying degree. 
• In addition to the minimum eligibility criteria, one must be able to demonstrate genuine interest in and enthusiasm for the courses proposed to study. The candidate must have the time and commitment needed to study the course along with the students studying in regular mode

How Many Seats are Available for Delhi University CES Admission 2024?

The number of seats in a course open for this Scheme shall be a maximum of 10% of the total strength of the class of that course or 6 seats, whichever is less. For instance, if the size of the class of Course 'A' is 60 and that of course 'B' is 22, then the number of seats open for registration for persons under the CES for course 'A''and course 'B' shall be 6 and 2 respectively. These seats under CES in a course shall be treated as supernumerary. The additional financial support or manpower or infrastructures, if any, shall be provided by the College or the Department of the University for running the Scheme. 

What is the Validity Delhi University CES Admission 2024?

The registration of candidates for the specific paper will be valid for that semester only. A student who fails to pass in/complete a paper shall re-register for it with payment of same amount of fee, if he/she so desires to earn the credits from the course and get the relevant certificate. 

What After Completion of Delhi University CES Courses?

On fulfilling the criteria as laid down in the University norms, candidate who registered for 1-2 papers, after successful completion of the same, the credits earned shall be deposited in his/her account in the Academic Bank of Credits and a certificate shall also be issued after fulfilling attendance criteria and successfully completing the evaluation process as applied to the regular students.
