Sudheer Babu and actor-writer Harsha Vardhan joined hands for a film named Maama Mascheendra. Sudheer Babu played multiple roles in this flick, which hit the screens today. Let’s see how it is.

Parasuram (Sudheer Babu) kills his father and stepmother, who are the reason for his mother’s death. After completing his imprisonment, Parasuram learns that his mother’s property is with his maternal uncle. Somehow, Parasuram wins his uncle’s confidence and marries a girl whom his uncle treats as his daughter.

Parasuram orders his assistant Ramdaasu (Harsha Vardhan) to eliminate the family of his uncle’s son Prasad (Ajay), but Ramdaasu fails to do so. Prasad has two sons, Durga (Sudheer Babu) and DJ (Sudheer Babu), who look like Parasuram. How Parasuram’s life is affected by Prasad’s sons is what the film is about.

Plus Points:

Sudheer Babu is the heart and soul of Maama Mascheendra. He portrayed all three characters with utmost conviction. He has shown ample variation in each of the roles. Be it the action, emotional, or comedy scenes, Sudheer Babu has aced them all. The actor’s hard work and dedication are visible.

Harsha Vardhan impresses as an actor and lends a nice support to Sudheer Babu. The last few minutes of the film are handled neatly. Emotional scenes between father and daughter came out quite well. The second half has some moments that will evoke decent laughs. Eesha Rebba and Mirnalini Ravi did what was expected of them.

Minus Points:

What otherwise could have been a fun-filled ride was brought down by an underwhelming presentation. The baby-swapping concept, which has been used extensively in recent Telugu films, was altered a bit here, and it actually had more scope for entertainment. However, the potential of the script was not thoroughly utilized.

The main drawback is the film’s first half, which moves at a very slow pace. ‘Act One,’ i.e., the character introductions and the world-building, is done in a very effective manner. But after that, the film becomes boring with pale love tracks that take up most of the screen time. They are prolonged, and a few scenes could have been trimmed down in the first hour. Shakalaka Shankar’s track is tedious. A few key logics are ignored, which is baffling.

The songs don’t make an impact, and they, in fact, take the film down. There are moments of brilliance that show that Harsha Vardhan is a sensible writer, but it would have been much better had such impressive scenes lasted longer. The audience needs to be attentive to understand the proceedings as the film is based on a confusion comedy.

Technical Aspects:

Chaitan Bharadwaj’s songs aren’t great, and his background score is decent. The cinematography by PG Vinda is neat. The production values are good, but the VFX works look patchy. The editing is below par.

Maama Mascheendra is a film that is good on paper, but the same is not translated effectively onto the screen. Harsha Vardhan penned dialogues for films like Manam and Guru in the past. A few dialogues in Maama Mascheendra are really good and make sense. The point he chose for Maama Mascheendra was indeed good, but what went wrong was the presentation. He stumbles with the first hour and comes up with some decent scenes in the second half.

On the whole, Maama Mascheendra has an interesting premise, but the execution is not up to the mark. The first half is prolonged unnecessarily with boring love tracks. Sudheer Babu does well, and the film has a few scenes going its way. As mentioned earlier, the audience must be highly focused to understand the proceedings, or else they might lose track of the film. Though the second half offers some respite, the overall experience is underwhelming.

ఈ శుక్ర‌వారం బాక్సాఫీసు కొత్త సినిమాల‌తో క‌ళ‌క‌ళ‌లాడింది. న‌వ‌త‌రం తార‌లు న‌టించిన సినిమాలు... ప‌రిమిత వ్య‌యంతో రూపొందిన సినిమాలు దాదాపు ప‌ది విడుద‌ల‌య్యాయి. అందులో ఒక‌టి... సుధీర్‌బాబు న‌టించిన ‘మామా మ‌శ్చీంద్ర‌’. విభిన్న‌మైన క‌థ‌ల్ని ఎంచుకుని ప్ర‌యాణం చేస్తాడ‌నే పేరున్న సుధీర్ బాబు త్రిపాత్రాభిన‌యం చేయ‌డం, ర‌చ‌యిత‌, న‌టుడు హ‌ర్ష‌వ‌ర్ధ‌న్ ద‌ర్శ‌క‌త్వం వ‌హించ‌డంతో సినిమాకి మంచి ప్ర‌చార‌మే ల‌భించింది. క‌థేంటంటే: క్రూరుడైన తండ్రి వ‌ల్ల చిన్న‌ప్పుడే త‌ల్లిని కోల్పోతాడు ప‌ర‌శురామ్ (సుధీర్‌బాబు). త‌నకి ద‌క్కాల్సిన ఆస్తుల్ని మేన‌మామ (అజ‌య్‌) లాగేసుకోవ‌డంతో ఎలాగైనా ఆ ఆస్తిని తిరిగి రాబ‌ట్టుకోవాల‌ని ప‌థ‌కం ర‌చిస్తాడు. మామ‌కు కూతురుతో స‌మానమైన అమ్మాయిని పెళ్లి చేసుకుని అనుకున్న‌ట్టే ఆస్తిని తిరిగి సొంతం చేసుకుంటాడు. ఆ త‌ర్వాత ప‌ర‌శురామ్ భార్య ఓ పాప‌కి జ‌న్మినిచ్చి చ‌నిపోతుంది. త‌న మామ పేరిట ఉన్న ఆస్తుల‌న్నింటినీ అమ్మేసుకుని కూతురుతో స‌హా వెళ్లి పారిస్‌లో స్థిర‌ప‌డిపోవాల‌ని నిర్ణ‌యించుకుంటాడు ప‌ర‌శురామ్‌. ఆ ప్ర‌య‌త్నాల్లో ఉండ‌గానే అత‌నిపై హ‌త్యాయ‌త్నం జ‌రుగుతుంది. ఇంత‌కీ ప‌ర‌శురామ్‌ని హ‌త్య చేయాల‌నుకున్న‌దెవ‌రు? త‌న రూపురేఖ‌ల‌తోనే ఉన్న క‌వ‌ల‌లు డీజే, దుర్గ (సుధీర్‌)లకి ఈ హ‌త్య‌తో సంబంధం ఏమైనా ఉందా? వాళ్లిద్ద‌రినీ హ‌త్య చేయాల‌ని ప‌ర‌శురామ్ ముందే ఎందుకు ప్లాన్ చేశాడు?వైర‌ల్ విశాలాక్షి (ఈషారెబ్బా), మీనాక్షి (మృణాళిని ర‌వి)ల్లో ప‌ర‌శురామ్ కూతురు ఎవ‌రు?త‌దిత‌ర విష‌యాలు తెలియాలంటే సినిమా చూడాల్సిందే.

ఎలా ఉందంటే:  కొన్ని సినిమాలు ఆరంభ‌మైన  క్ష‌ణాల్లోనే  ప్రేక్ష‌కుడిని ఆ క‌థ‌లో లీనం చేస్తాయి. పాత్ర‌ల‌తో  క‌లిసి ప్ర‌యాణం చేయిస్తాయి. కొన్ని సినిమాలు మాత్రం గంద‌ర‌గోళానికి గురిచేస్తూ ఆ క‌థ‌ని, పాత్ర‌ల్ని ఒక ప‌ట్టాన మ‌న‌సుకి ఎక్కించుకోలేని విధంగా చేస్తాయి. రెండో రకానికి చెందిందే ఈ సినిమా. ద‌ర్శ‌కుడు చెప్పాల‌నుకున్న అంశం మంచిదే. కానీ, చెప్పిన విధాన‌మే కుద‌ర‌లేదు. ర‌చ‌నా ప్ర‌తిభ‌నంతా ఉప‌యోగించి ప‌లు పార్శ్వాలుగా క‌థని రాసుకున్నారు. అది స్క్రిప్ట్‌పై ఉన్నంత‌వ‌ర‌కూ ఆస‌క్తిని రేకెత్తించ‌వ‌చ్చు కానీ, తెర‌పైకి వ‌చ్చేస‌రికి తిక‌మ‌క వ్య‌వ‌హారంలా మారింది. క‌థ‌ని, పాత్ర‌ల్ని ఎన్ని మ‌లుపులైనా తిప్పొచ్చు. కానీ ఆ ప్ర‌య‌త్నంతో హాస్య‌మో, లేక ఏదో ఒక భావోద్వేగ‌మే పండాలి. కానీ, ఈ సినిమాలో ఏ ఒక్క స‌న్నివేశం ఎలాంటి భావోద్వేగాన్ని పంచ‌కపోగా బోన‌స్‌గా మెద‌డుకి ప‌నిపెడుతుంది. (Mama Mascheendra Movie Review) ఉన్న పాత్ర‌ని లేన‌ట్టు... లేని పాత్ర ఉన్న‌ట్టు చూపిస్తూ అంతా ఓ పజిల్‌లా సినిమాని మార్చేశారు ద‌ర్శ‌కుడు. ఎంత పెద్ద క‌థ‌నైనా,  సినిమాలో ఎన్ని పార్శ్వాలున్నా అది ప్రేక్ష‌కులకు అర్థ‌మ‌య్యేలా చెప్ప‌డం అవ‌స‌రం అని ఈ సినిమా మ‌రోసారి చాటింది.

త‌న‌పైనా త‌న కూతురుపైనా క‌క్ష క‌డతారేమో అని క‌థానాయ‌కుడు త‌న‌కి తానే ఊహించుకుంటూ పిల్ల‌ల్ని మార్చేస్తుంటాడు.. బాంబులు పెట్టి ఇళ్ల‌ని పేల్చేస్తుంటాడు. తెరపై ఇలా చాలా వ్య‌వ‌హారం జ‌రిగిపోతుంటుంది. ఆర్జీవీ ఎపిసోడ్  స‌హా ఏదీ  కూడా సంద‌ర్భోచితంగా  అనిపించ‌దు.  ప్ర‌థ‌మార్ధంలో పాత్ర‌ల మ‌ధ్య బంధాల విష‌యంలో ఎంత కంగాళీ  ఉంటుందో...  ద్వితీయార్ధంలో నాయ‌కానాయిక‌ల మ‌ధ్య ప్రేమ వ్య‌వ‌హారంలోనూ అంతే గ‌బిజిజి. సినిమాకి కీల‌కం ప‌ర‌శురామ్ పాత్రే. చిన్న‌ప్పుడే త‌ల్లిని పోగొట్టుకున్న ఆ పాత్ర‌పై ఆరంభంలో ప్రేక్షకులకు జాలి క‌లుగుతుంది. (Mama Mascheendra Movie Review) అలాంటి పాత్ర‌ని విల‌న్ ఛాయ‌ల‌తో మ‌లిచి,  ఓ స్ప‌ష్ట‌త‌, ఓ ల‌క్ష్యం లేకుండా మార్చేయ‌డం సినిమాకి మైన‌స్‌గా మారింది.  మ‌నిషిలోని స్వార్థం గురించి  ప‌తాక స‌న్నివేశాల్లో చెప్పిన విష‌యం త‌ప్ప సినిమా ఏ ద‌శ‌లోనూ ర‌క్తిక‌ట్టించ‌దు.

ఎవ‌రెలా చేశారంటే: సుధీర్‌బాబు మూడు పాత్ర‌ల్లో క‌నిపిస్తాడు. ప‌ర‌శురామ్ పాత్ర ఆయ‌న‌కి ఏమాత్రం న‌ప్ప‌లేదు. విగ్గు, గ‌డ్డం అతికించుకుని క‌నిపించ‌డం త‌ప్ప అందులో కొత్త‌ద‌నం లేదు. దుర్గ పాత్ర‌తోనే ఆయ‌న వైవిధ్యం ప్ర‌ద‌ర్శించారు. అయితే నాసిర‌క‌మైన మేక‌ప్ వ‌ల్ల ఆ పాత్ర లుక్ ఒక్కోసారి ఒక్కోలా క‌నిపిస్తుంటుంది. మూడో పాత్ర‌లో సుధీర్ ఎప్ప‌ట్లాగే సిక్స్‌ ప్యాక్‌తో క‌నిపిస్తాడు. రాయ‌ల‌సీమ‌, ఉత్త‌రాంధ్ర‌, తెలంగాణ యాస‌ల్లో సంభాష‌ణ‌లు చెప్పారు. ప‌ర‌శురామ్ పాత్ర‌కి డ‌బ్బింగ్ అత‌క‌లేదు. ఈషారెబ్బా, మృణాళిని ర‌వి తెర‌పై ఎక్కువ‌సేపే క‌నిపిస్తారు. (Mama Mascheendra Movie Review) ఈషారెబ్బా హాస్పిట‌ల్‌లో మాట్లాడే స‌న్నివేశాలు త‌ప్ప ఆ ఇద్ద‌రూ మ‌రెక్క‌డా ప్ర‌భావం చూపించ‌రు. ప‌ర‌శురామ్ ద‌గ్గ‌ర ప‌నిచేసే వ్య‌క్తిగా  హ‌ర్ష‌వ‌ర్ధ‌న్ కీల‌క పాత్ర‌లో క‌నిపిస్తారు. రాజీవ్ క‌న‌కాల‌, అజ‌య్, మిర్చి కిర‌ణ్, అలీరెజా, హ‌రితేజ  త‌దిత‌రులు పాత్ర‌ల ప‌రిధి మేర‌కు న‌టించారు. సాంకేతికంగా  కెమెరా, సంగీతం విభాగాలు మంచి ప‌నితీరుని క‌న‌బ‌రిచాయి. పాట‌లు గుర్తు పెట్టుకునేలా లేవు కానీ, నేప‌థ్య‌సంగీతం ఆక‌ట్టుకుంటుంది. ర‌చ‌నే ఈ సినిమాకి బ‌ల‌హీన‌త‌. ప‌లు పార్శ్వాలున్న ఈ క‌థ‌ని స‌ర‌ళంగా  చెప్ప‌డంలో విఫ‌ల‌మ‌య్యారు ద‌ర్శ‌కుడు, ర‌చ‌యిత హ‌ర్ష‌వ‌ర్ధ‌న్‌. నిర్మాణం ప‌రంగా ఎలాంటి లోటుపాట్లు క‌నిపించ‌వు.

The main reason "Maama Mascheendra" sparked interest was Sudheer Babu playing three different roles.

Let’s see its merits and demerits.

Story: Parasuram (Sudheer Babu) has a painful past. His sister, brother-in-law, and their twin sons are his target, and he orders his buddy Dasu (Harshavardhan) to kill them. But somehow the twins escape death.

Parasuram, fearing for his life, agrees to swap daughters with Dasu.

Decades later, Visalakshi (Esha Rebba), Parasuram's daughter, falls for Durga (Sudheer Babu), a thug from Vizag. Meenakshi (Mrinalini Ravi), Dasu's daughter, falls for a DJ (the other twin, Sudheer Babu).

Parasuram is worried that his nephew has set up a trap for his daughter in an attempt to exact revenge on him.

Has Duraga or DJ, as Parasuram suspected, ensnared these girls in the name of love?

Artistes’ Performances: Sudheer Babu is seen in three different getups. He also takes on both negative and positive roles. While he varies his roles as fat guy and evil uncle, the other character DJ is typical of Sudheer Babu.

Eesha Rebba and Mirnalini Ravi appear as heroines but are given little screen time. Ali Reza is good. Harsha Vardhan is okay.

Technical Excellence: The film has decent technical and production values. The music, however, is lacklustre. PG Vinda’s cinematography is effective.

Analysis The story of "Maama Mascheendra" begins in an intriguing manner. It holds our attention for 15 minutes. But the initial engagement quickly fades after the setup. Everything goes downhill from here.

Parasuram reads two different diaries, and scenes unfold as he reads. However, the sequences are nothing more than the usual romance, songs, and action stunts. There are also some unexpected twists and turns. It leaves us befuddled and bored until we reach the intermission. The interval bang concludes with one intriguing fact about twins.

In the second half, there are more twists about twins. After a point, Harsha Vardhan's narration leaves us frustrated. Because he establishes one character at one point, and the following sequence reveals that the character is not real, but imaginary.

The process of determining which is real and which is imaginary is similar to that of a puzzle. Instead of forcing us to solve the puzzle, Harsha Vardhan's narration directs us to the exit door.

Let us take the main character Parasuram (played by Sudheer Babu) as an example of the confusion. The character is introduced as a victim who has lost his mother. As the film progresses, he becomes the antagonist. There is a lot of uncertainty and ambiguity surrounding all of the characters.

Everything happens for the purpose of adding a twist. Every character, including Shakalaka Shankar, who plays an RGV-like role, speaks in an ambiguous manner.

The outcome would have been different if Harshavardhan had written a more lucid screenplay and kept the twists and turns to a minimum. But in attempting to present the film in a different manner, he became confused and turned it into a mess.

Overall, “Maama Mascheendra” is an aimless and pointless exercise that bores us completely.

This initial setup generates excitement among movie enthusiasts, and Sudheer Babu's introduction in his two other roles thrills his fans. However, the film experiences a dip in intensity due to the characterization of Eesha Rebba and Mrinalini Ravi, whose roles come across as caricatures and involve scenes that test the audience's patience with outdated elements and double entendre dialogues.

The first half of the film, in fact, revolves around these scenes, with the only exceptions being the pre-interval and interval twists, as well as Sudheer Babu's portrayal in all three roles, which manage to maintain viewer interest.

Expectations for an action-packed second half rise after the interval twist, but Harsha Vardhan fails to deliver. Instead, he attempts to create humor reminiscent of NTR's Adurs, but these efforts fall flat. The dialogues come off as silly, and the methods employed by the elder Sudheer Babu, Eesha Rebba, Mrinalini Ravi, and the young Sudheer Babus to achieve their goals turn out to be absurd.

Towards the end, a couple of emotional scenes and a few unexpected twists make an effort to salvage the film from sinking entirely. Harsha Vardhan's story, although formulaic, does contain some intriguing elements, but he diverts from these by dwelling on frivolous comedy. At times, his screenplay confuses the audience, while his direction is passable.

On a positive note, PG.Vinda's cinematography is commendable, utilizing camera angles effectively to immerse viewers in the story. However, Marthand K Venkatesh's editing leaves room for improvement, as there are several draggy moments that hamper the film's pacing. Chaitan Bhadarwaj contributes a couple of foot-tapping songs, although they are just passable, and his background music elevates many scenes. Harshavardhan's dialogues are a mixed bag, sometimes impressive and at other times ordinary.

The production values by Sree Venkateswara Cinemas are of a high standard. In conclusion, "Maama Mascheendra" has its moments but is hindered by its inconsistency in balancing elements of comedy, drama, and intrigue.

కథేంటి? పరశురామ్(సుధీర్ బాబు)కి చాలా స్వార్థం. వందల కోట్ల ఆస్తి కోసం సొంత చెల్లి కుటుంబాన్ని చంపమని తన మనిషి దాసుకి చెప్తాడు. కానీ వాళ్ళు బతికిపోతారు. కట్ చేస్తే పరశురామ్ కూతురు విశాలాక్షి (ఈషా రెబ్బా), దాసు కూతురు మీనాక్షి (మృణాళిని రవి).. దుర్గ(సుధీర్ బాబు) డీజే (సుధీర్ బాబు) అనే కుర్రాళ్లతో లవ్ లో పడతారు. వీళ్ళిద్దరూ పరశురామ్ పోలికలతో ఉంటారు. వీళ్లు తన మేనల్లుడ్లే అని పరశురామ్‌కి నిజం తెలుస్తుంది. ఆ తర్వాత ఏమైంది? చివరకు పరశురామ్ ఏం తెలుసుకున్నాడు అనేది స్టోరీ.

ఎలా ఉంది? సినిమా అంటే ఎవరెన్ని చెప్పినా వినోదం మాత్రమే. రెండు లేదా మూడు గంటలా అనేది ఇక్కడ మేటర్ కాదు. నవ్వించవా, థ్రిల్ చేశావా? ఇలాంటి అంశాలు మాత్రమే ఆడియెన్స్ చూస్తారు. ఈ విషయంలో మామ మశ్చీంద్ర పూర్తిగా ఫెయిల్ అయ్యింది. ఎందుకంటే కామెడీ, థ్రిల్, డ్రామా.. ఇలా ఏ పార్ట్ లోనూ కనీసం అలరించ లేకపోయింది. ట్విస్టులు ఎక్కువ ఉంటే ప్రేక్షకులు థ్రిల్ అవుతారని డైరెక్టర్ అనుకున్నాడు. అవి రెండున్నర గంటలు బుర్ర గొక్కునేల చేశాయి!

ఫస్ట్ హాఫ్ విషయానికి వస్తే.. జాలి దయలేని తండ్రి వల్ల చిన్నప్పుడే పరశురామ్ తల్లి చనిపోవడం... తల్లికి దక్కాల్సిన ఆస్తిని మేనమామ లాగేసుకోవడం.. ఆ తర్వాత పక్క ప్లాన్ తో మేనమామకు కూతురు వరసైన అమ్మాయిని పెళ్లి చేసుకొని ఆ అస్తినంతా దక్కించుకోవడం.. ఇక వయసు పెరిగిన తర్వాత పరశురామ్.. అతడు కూతురు విశాలాక్షీ.. పరశురామ్ దగ్గర పనిచేసే దాసు.. అతడు కూతురు మీనాక్షి.. వీళ్ళ లైఫ్ లోకి దుర్గ, డీజే అనే వ్యక్తులు రావడం.. అల ఈ పాత్రల మధ్య ఎలాంటి డ్రామా నడిచింది చివరకి ఏమైంది అనేదే తెలియాలంటే సినిమా చూడాలి..

స్టోరీ పరంగా స్వార్థం అనే మంచి పాయింట్ తీసుకున్నారు కానీ దాన్ని చెప్పడంలో ఏ మాత్రం ఇంట్రెస్ట్ చూపించలేదు. దీంతో చూసే ప్రేక్షకుడికి కూడా అది ఎక్కలేదు. హీరో సుదీర్ బాబు.. పరశురామ్, దుర్గ, డీజే అనే మూడు పాత్రలు చేశాడు. డీజేగా రెగ్యులర్ లుక్ లో కనిపించాడు. ఇది ఓకే. కానీ మిగతా రెండు పాత్రలు డిజైన్ అస్సలు సెట్ కాలేదు. ఇక ఫస్ట్ హాఫ్ లో హీరో హీరోయిన్స్ లవ్ ట్రాక్ తో చాలా చిరాకు పెట్టించారు. పబ్ లో వచ్చే ఆర్జీవీ ఎపిసోడ్ అయితే అనవసరం. ఇక సినిమాని చాలా తక్కువ బడ్జెట్ లో చుట్టేశారు. క్వాలిటీ విషయం కూడా కాస్త ఇబ్బంది పెడుతుంది. సినిమాలో ఏదైనా ప్లస్ పాయింట్ ఉందంటే.. క్లైమాక్స్ లో మనిషిలో స్వార్థం గురించి చెప్పే సీన్ మాత్రమే.

ఎవరెలా చేశారు? మూడు పాత్రల్లో ఏదో ప్రయోగం చేద్దామని హీరో సుధీర్ బాబు ప్రయత్నించాడు గానీ అది అడ్డంగా బెడిసికొట్టింది. పరశురామ్ కారెక్టర్ ని అయిన మంచిగా రాసుకుని సినిమా తీసుంటే బాగుండేది. ఇక హీరోయిన్స్ గ చేసిన ఈషా రెబ్బ, మృణాళిని రవి ఓకే ఓకే. ఈ మూవీ రైటర్ అండ్ డైరెక్టర్ హర్షవర్ధన్ ఇందులో దాసు పాత్ర చేశాడు అది పర్లేదు. మిగతా కారెక్టర్స్ చేసిన వాళ్ళు మామ అనిపించారు. అజయ్, హరితేజ, రాజీవ్ కనకాల లాంటి వాళ్లని సరిగా వాడుకొలేకపోయారు.

టెక్నికల్ విషయాల్లో ఈ సినిమాలోని పాటలు పెద్దగా గుర్తుండవ్. సినిమాటోగ్రఫీ ఓకే. నిర్మాణ విలువలు చాలా పూర్. రైటింగ్ కూడా అస్సలు ఎఫెక్టివ్‌గా లేదు. ఓవరాల్‌గా థియేటర్స్‌లో మామ మశ్చీంద నిలబడటం అంటే చాలా కష్టం.

సుధీర్ బాబు (Sudheer Babu) త్రిపాత్రాభినయం చేసిన సినిమా 'మామా మశ్చీంద్ర' (Mama Mascheendra Movie). దీనికి నటుడు, రచయిత హర్షవర్ధన్ దర్శకుడు. ఈ సినిమాలో సుధీర్ బాబు మూడు లుక్స్, ప్రచార చిత్రాలు సినిమాపై ప్రేక్షకుల చూపు పడేలా చేశాయి. మరి, సినిమా?

కథ (Mama Mascheendra Story) : పరశురామ్ (సుధీర్ బాబు) బాల్యంలో జరిగిన కొన్ని ఘటనల కారణంగా రాతి మనిషిలా మారడతాడు. వందల కోట్ల ఆస్తి కోసం సొంత మనుషులను సైతం చంపడానికి వెనుకాడడు. చెల్లెలు, ఆమె భర్తతో పాటు పిల్లల్ని చంపమని తన మనిషి దాసు (హర్షవర్ధన్)ను పంపిస్తాడు. అయితే... వాళ్ళు తప్పించుకుంటారు. కట్ చేస్తే... 

కొన్నేళ్ళకు పరశురామ్ కుమార్తె విశాలాక్షి (ఈషా రెబ్బా), విశాఖలో రౌడీ దుర్గ (సుధీర్ బాబు) ప్రేమలో పడతారు. ఉద్యోగం కోసం హైదరాబాద్ వచ్చిన దాసు కుమార్తె మీనాక్షి (మృణాళిని రవి), ఫేమస్ డీజే (సుధీర్ బాబు) ప్రేమలో పడతారు. ఈ విషయం తెలిసి... తన పోలికలతో జన్మించిన మేనల్లుళ్లు పగ తీర్చుకోవాలని ఇలా ప్రేమ పేరుతో కొత్త నాటకానికి తెర తీశారేమోనని పరశురామ్ అనుమానిస్తాడు. అది నిజమా? లేదంటే అతడి ఊహ మాత్రమేనా? పరశురామ్ మీద హత్యాయత్నం చేసింది ఎవరు? కుమార్తెల విషయంలో పరశురామ్, దాసు ఒకరి దగ్గర మరొకరు దాచిన నిజం ఏమిటి? అది వాళ్ళకు ఎప్పుడు తెలిసింది? చివరకు ఏమైంది? అనేది మిగతా సినిమా.   

విశ్లేషణ (Mama Mascheendra Review) : రచయితగా హర్షవర్ధన్ (Harshavardhan) ట్రాక్ రికార్డు చూస్తే విజయాలు ఎక్కువ. కాంప్లికేటెడ్ స్క్రీన్ ప్లేతో కూడిన 'మనం'కు ప్రేక్షకుడు గందరగోళానికి గురి కాకుండా మంచి సంభాషణలు రాశారు. 'గుండెజారి గల్లతయ్యిందే', 'చిన్నదాన నీ కోసం' సినిమాల్లో చక్కటి ప్రేమ సన్నివేశాలు రాశారు. ఆయన దర్శకత్వం వహించిన సినిమా అంటే ప్రేక్షకుల్లో మినిమమ్ అంచనాలు ఉంటాయి. మరి, 'మామా మశ్చీంద్ర' ఎలా ఉందనేది చూస్తే... 

ఎంత చెయ్యి తిరిగిన వంటగాడు అయినా సరే... తన ప్రతిభ అంత ఒక్క వంటలో చూపించాలని అనుకోకూడదు. ఒకవేళ ప్రయత్నిస్తే... అసలు వంటకు ఎసరు వచ్చే ప్రమాదం ఉంది. స్వీట్ బావుందని ఎక్కువ తింటే షుగర్ వస్తుంది. అలాగే... ట్విస్టులు బావుంటాయని, బావున్నాయని కథలో లెక్కకు మిక్కిలి పెడితే ప్రేక్షకులు గందరగోళానికి గురి అవుతారు. 'మామా మశ్చీంద్ర' విషయంలో జరిగింది అదే.  'మామా మశ్చీంద్ర'లో టిస్టులు కొత్తగా ఉన్నాయా? అంటే అదీ లేదు. సినిమా స్టార్టింగే 'అల వైకుంఠపురములో' గుర్తుకు వస్తుంది. ఆ ట్విస్టును ఇంకాస్త సాగదీశారు. ఆ తర్వాత కూడా చాలా ట్విస్టులు ఉన్నాయి. కొన్నిసార్లు ఏం జరుగుతోంది? అని ప్రేక్షకులు బుర్ర చించుకుని ఆలోచించుకునేలా సన్నివేశాలు ఉంటాయి. 

ఒక షాక్ తర్వాత మరొక షాక్ అంటే కథను అర్థం చేసుకోవడం కష్టమే. హీరోని మూడు నాలుగు లుక్కుల్లో చూపించాలని, లేదంటే సినిమాలో ఇన్ని ట్విస్టులు ఉండాలని ముందు ఫిక్స్ అయ్యారేమో!? కథను ఆసక్తికరంగా ముందు తీసుకు వెళ్లడంలో ఫెయిల్ అయ్యారు. హర్షవర్ధన్ బలం కామెడీ! ఆయన సినిమాల్లో వినోదం బాగుంటుంది. కానీ, ఈ సినిమాలో నవ్వించిన సీన్లు వేళ్ళ మీద లెక్క పెట్టవచ్చు. లడ్డు బాబు లాంటి హీరో వెంట హీరోయిన్ ఎందుకు పడింది? పతాక సన్నివేశాల్లో హీరోలో మార్పు ఎందుకు వచ్చింది? మేనల్లుళ్ళ మీద అంత బలమైన పగ ఎందుకు? వంటివి కన్వీన్సింగ్‌గా చెప్పలేదు. సినిమాటిక్ లిబర్టీ తీసుకుని కొన్ని సీన్లు రాసుకుంటూ వెళ్లారు.    పాటలు, నేపథ్య సంగీతం ఆకట్టుకునేలా లేవు. పీజీ విందా ఇంతకు ముందు లో బడ్జెట్ సినిమాలు చేసినా కెమెరా వర్క్ భారీ బడ్జెట్ ఫిల్మ్ అన్నట్టు ఉండేది. కానీ, ఈ సినిమాలో ఆ ఫీల్ లేదు. సినిమా చూస్తుంటే తక్కువలో చుట్టేసిన ఫీలింగ్ కలుగుతుంది.

నటీనటులు ఎలా చేశారంటే : సుధీర్ బాబు మూడు పాత్రలు చేశారు. రెగ్యులర్ లుక్కులో బాగున్నారు. ఎప్పటిలా ప్యాక్డ్ బాడీ చూపించారు. లడ్డు బాబు మేకప్ గానీ, ఆ లుక్ గానీ ఆయనకు సెట్ కాలేదు. ముసలి గెటప్ కూడా! పైగా... సుధీర్ బాబుతో కాకుండా వేరొకరితో ఆ పాత్రకు డబ్బింగ్ చెప్పించడం కూడా బాలేదు. సినిమాలో సుధీర్ బాబు అన్‌కంఫర్టబుల్‌గా కనిపించారు.

ఈషా రెబ్బా, మృణాళిని రవి... హీరోయిన్లు ఇద్దరి పాత్రలు రొటీన్! ఆయా పాత్రల్లో వాళ్ళ నటన కూడా! దర్శక, రచయితగా కంటే నటుడిగా హర్షవర్ధన్ మెప్పించారు. క్యారెక్టర్స్ డిజైన్ కారణంగా రాజీవ్ కనకాల, 'మిర్చి' కిరణ్, హరితేజ, అజయ్ తమ పరిధి మేరకు నటించారు. రామ్ గోపాల్ వర్మగా 'షకలక' శంకర్ కనిపించారు.

పరశురాం (సుధీర్ బాబు) చిన్నతనంలోనే తన తల్లిని కోల్పోగా.. ఆస్తి కోసం తన తల్లిని ప్రాణం పోయేలా చేసిన తండ్రి.. అలాగే తనను మోసం చేసిన మేనమామ మీద పగ పెంచుకుంటాడు. తన తండ్రిని చంపి జైలుకు వెళ్లి తిరిగి వచ్చాక తన మేనమామ మీద పగ తీర్చుకోవడానికి అతడి ఇంట్లో పాగా వేస్తాడు. అతను కూతురిలా పెంచుకునే అమ్మాయిని పెళ్లాడతాడు. ఒక ఆడ బిడ్డకు జన్మనిచ్చాక పరశురాం భార్య చనిపోతుంది. ఆ బాధతో అతడి మేనమామ కూడా ప్రాణాలు వదులుతాడు. తన సవతి సోదరినే తన మేనమామ కొడుకు పెళ్లాడటంతో వాళ్లిద్దరూ వారి పిల్లలు తన మీద పగతీర్చుకుంటారేమో అని పరశురాంలో భయం మొదలవుతుంది. వాళ్లందరినీ చంపడానికి ప్రయత్నించినా కుదరదు. ఈ భయంతోనే తన కూతురిని పెంచి పెద్ద చేస్తాడు పరశురాం. అతడి కూతురు మీనాక్షి పెరిగి పెద్దదై పరశురాం మేనల్లుడితోనే ప్రేమలో పడుతుంది. దీంతో తన కూతురు ఏమవుతుందో అన్న భయం పరశురాంలో ఇంకా పెరిగిపోతుంది. ఈ స్థితిలో అతనేం చేశాడు.. చివరికి ఈ కథ ఎలాంటి మలుపులు తిరిగింది అన్నది తెరపైనే చూడాలి.

కథనం-విశ్లేషణ:

'లడ్డు బాబు' అని అల్లరి నరేష్ నటించిన ఓ సినిమా. హీరోను స్థూలకాయుడిగా చూపించి నవ్వుల్లో ముంచెత్తేద్దామని చూశాడు రవిబాబు. కానీ అల్లరి నరేష్ లాంటి బక్క జీవిని ప్రోస్థెటిక్ మేకప్‌ సాయంతో లడ్డు బాబులా చూపించే ప్రయత్నం దారుణంగా బెడిసికొట్టేసింది. ఆ సినిమాలో కథాకథనాలు సన్నివేశాలు ఎలా ఉన్నాయన్నది పక్కన పెడితే.. చాలా అసహజంగా.. ఎబ్బెట్టుగా అనిపించిన నరేష్ మేకప్పే సినిమాను సగం దెబ్బ కొట్టేసింది. ఆ పాత్ర కనిపించినపుడల్లా తెర వైపు చూడలేనంత వికారం కలిగింది ప్రేక్షకులకు. ఇక విక్రమ్ హీరోగా శంకర్ తీసిన 'ఐ' సినిమా సైతం దాదాపుగా ఇలాంటి ఫీలింగే కలిగించింది. హీరో అందవిహీనంగా కనిపించినా ప్రేక్షకులు తట్టుకుని సినిమా చూడాలంటే.. అందులో ఏదో ఒక వైవిధ్యమైన పాయింట్.. బలమైనఎమోషన్ ఉండటం చాలా అవసరం. అలా కాకుండా హీరోను కేవలం డిఫరెంట్ గెటప్ లో చూపించడమే వైవిధ్యం అనుకుంటే పై సినిమాల్లాగే తయారవుతుంది. ఇప్పుడు 'మామా మశ్చీంద్ర'తో వచ్చిన సమస్య కూడా ఇదే. చిజిల్డ్ బాడీతో కనిపించే సుధీర్ బాబును స్థూలకాయుడిగా చూపించి.. పాత్రలో ఒక వేరియేషన్ తీసుకురావడానికి ప్రయత్నించాడు యాక్టర్ టర్న్డ్ డైరెక్టర్ హర్షవర్ధన్. కథకు సంబంధించిన ఆలోచన పేపర్ మీద చదివితే ఎగ్జైటింగ్ గా అనిపించేదేమో కానీ.. ఎగ్జిక్యూషన్ మాత్రం పేలవంగా తయారైంది.

ఈ చిత్రంలో హీరోను స్థూలకాయుడిగా చూపించడం వెనుక దర్శకుడిగా ఉద్దేశం మంచిదే అయినా.. ఆ పాత్రను తీర్చిదిద్దిన విధానం.. తెర మీద దాన్ని చూపించిన తీరే భరించలేని విధంగా తయారైంది. బడ్జెట్ పరిమితుల వల్లో ఏమో.. ప్రోస్థెటిక్ మేకప్ విషయంలో బాగా రాజీ పడిపోగా.. సుధీర్ లుక్ ఘోరాతి ఘోరంగా తయారైంది. ఆ పాత్ర తెర మీద కనిపించినపుడల్లా ఎప్పుడెప్పుడు పక్కకు వెళ్లిపోతుందా అనుకునే పరిస్థితి ఉందంటే అర్థం చేసుకోవచ్చు. ఈ పాత్ర అనే కాదు.. సుధీర్ బాబు చేసిన వయసు మళ్లిన పాత్రకు.. అలాగే సినిమాలో కీలక పాత్ర చేసిన హర్షవర్ధన్ క్యారెక్టర్ కు పెట్టిన విగ్గులు.. గడ్డాలు చూస్తే మనం చూస్తున్నది ఫీచర్ ఫిలిమా.. లేక వీధి నాటకమా అని డౌట్ కొడుతుంది. స్వతహాగా అందగత్తెలైన ఈషా రెబ్బా.. మృణాళిని రవి సైతం ఈ సినిమాలో కనిపించిన తీరుకు షాకవుతాం. పాత్రల అప్పీయరెన్సే అతి పెద్ద ప్రతిబంధకంగా మారిన 'మామా మశ్చీంద్ర'లో సన్నివేశాలు కూడా ఏమంత గొప్పగా అనిపించవు. సుధీర్ చేసిన పాత్రల్లో కొంచెం కంటెంట్ ఉన్నట్లుగా అనిపించే పరశురాం పాత్ర తాలూకు నేపథ్యాన్ని చూపించిన విధానం.. కథలో వచ్చే కీలక మలుపులు చూసి హర్షవర్ధన్ నుంచి ఎంతో ఆశిస్తాం. కానీ ఆరంభ మెరుపుల తర్వాత 'మామా మశ్చీంద్ర' ఒక గమ్యం అంటూ లేకుండా ఎటెటో వెళ్లిపోతుంది. మినిమం లాజిక్ లేకుండా అర్థ రహితంగా సాగే సీన్లు సినిమా మీద ఇంప్రెషన్ తగ్గిస్తూ వెళ్తాయి.

హీరోతో హీరోయిన్ నీ గదికి వెళ్దాం అనగానే అతను సేఫ్టీ సేఫ్టీ అంటూ బయటికి పరుగులు తీయడం.. అది పట్టుకుని వచ్చి కథానాయికతో సరస సంభాషణ చేస్తూ బెడ్ మీద పడుకోవడం.. హీరోయిన్ అతణ్ని సెడ్యూస్ చేస్తున్నట్లు కనిపించి చివరికి చావు కబురు చల్లగా చెప్పడం.. ఈ సన్నివేశం సాగే తీరు చూశాక రచయితగా- దర్శకుడిగా హర్షవర్ధన్ అభిరుచి మీద ఎన్నో సందేహాలు కలుగుతాయి. ఆ తర్వాత రామ్ గోపాల్ వర్మ పేరుతో నేరుగా ఒక పాత్రను పెట్టి పబ్బులో వేయించిన వేషాల గురించి ఎంత చెప్పినా తక్కువే. ఇలాంటి సెన్స్ లెస్.. సిల్లీ సీన్లు సినిమాలో చాలానే ఉన్నాయి. తొలి పావుగంట తర్వాత కనీస స్థాయిలో కూడా ఎంగేజ్ చేసే ఒక్క సీన్ కూడా లేదు ప్రథమార్ధంలో. ద్వితీయార్ధంలో కథకు సంబంధించిన మలుపులు కొంత ఆసక్తి రేకెత్తిస్తాయి. ఐతే పరశురాం పాత్రకు తన శత్రువుల విషయంలో ఒక క్లారిటీ వచ్చేయడంతో కథ దాదాపుగా సుఖాంతం అయిపోయి సినిమా ముగిసిపోయిన ఫీలింగ్ కలుగుతుంది. కానీ ఆ తర్వాత కూడా ఒక ముప్పావుగంట పాటు సినిమాను అనవసరంగా సాగదీసి విసిగిస్తాడు దర్శకుడు. అప్పటిదాకా థ్రిల్లర్ లక్షణాలతో సాగిన సినిమా.. ఆ తర్వాత ముక్కోణపు ప్రేమకథలా మారి.. మరీ నాటకీయంగా సాగే సన్నివేశాలతో విసిగెత్తిస్తుంది. గమ్యం లేకుండా సాగే ఈ కథకు చివరికి ఏదో ఒక ముగింపు ఇచ్చి మమ అనిపించారు. కథలో విశేషాలన్నీ అయిపోయాక చివరి వరకు కూర్చోవడం చాలా చాలా కష్టమవుతుంది. చివరికి ఇది ఒక పర్పస్ లెస్ సినిమాలా మిగిలిపోయింది.

సుధీర్ బాబు మూడు పాత్రల్లో వేరియేషన్ చూపించడానికి బాగానే కష్టపడ్డాడు. కాకపోతే బొద్దుగా కనిపించే పాత్రకు వేసిన ప్రోస్తెటిక్ మేకప్ ఘోరాతి ఘోరంగా తయారై ఆ క్యారెక్టర్ కనిపించినపుడల్లా చాలా ఇబ్బందిగా తయారవుతుంది. చాలా అసహజంగా ఉన్న ఆ పాత్రను సుధీర్ మీద మోయలేని బరువును పెట్టింది. మిగతా రెండు పాత్రల్లో సుధీర్ ఓకే అనిపించాడు. ముఖ్యంగా పరశురాం పాత్రలో ప్రతినాయక లక్షణాలను సుధీర్ బాగా చూపించగలిగాడు. ఒక దశ వరకు ఆసక్తికరంగా అనిపించే ఈ పాత్ర తర్వాత నిరాశ పరుస్తుంది. డీజే పాత్రలో సుధీర్ బాబు తన బాడీని తెగ ఎక్స్ పోజ్ చేశాడు. అది ఒక దశ దాటాక శ్రుతి మించినట్లు అనిపిస్తుంది. దర్శకుడు హర్ష కీలక పాత్రే చేశాడు కానీ.. నటన వరకు బాగున్నా ఆ పాత్ర గెటప్ కూడా సరిగా కుదరలేదు. హీరోయిన్లు ఈషా రెబ్బా. మృణాలిని రవి స్క్రీన్ ప్రెజెన్స్ ఏమంత బాగా అనిపించదు. వాళ్ల నటన పర్వాలేదు. అజయ్ ఓకే. హరితేజ అవసరానికి మించి నటించింది. రాజీవ్ కనకాలది మామూలు పాత్రే. అలీ రెజా.. మిర్చి కిరణ్ సహాయ పాత్రల్లో పర్వాలేదనిపించారు.

సాంకేతిక వర్గం:

టెక్నికల్ గా 'మామా మశ్చీంద్ర' సోసోగా అనిపిస్తుంది. చేతన్ భరద్వాజ్ పాటలు మామూలుగా సాగిపోయాయి. గుర్తుంచుకునేలా.. మళ్లీ వినాలనిపించేలా ఏవీ లేవు. ప్రవీణ్ లక్కరాజు నేపథ్య సంగీతం కూడా ప్రత్యేకంగా ఏమీ అనిపించదు. పి.జి.విందా ఛాయాగ్రహణం బాగానే సాగింది. నిర్మాణ విలువల విషయంలో 'మామా మశ్చీంద్ర' తీవ్రంగా నిరాశ పరుస్తుంది. ఆరంభం నుంచి ఒక లో క్వాలిటీ సినిమా చూస్తున్న ఫీలింగ్ వెంటాడుతుంది. దుర్గ పాత్రలో సుధీర్ బాబుకు వేసిన మేకప్ దగ్గరే నిర్మాణ విలువల విషయంలో ఎంత రాజీ పడ్డారో అర్థమవుతుంది. ఏషియన్ మూవీస్ సునీల్ నారంగ్ మరీ ఇంత రాజీ ఎలా పడ్డాడో అని ఆశ్చర్యం కలుగుతుంది. హర్షవర్ధన్ రైటింగ్ విషయంలో కష్టపడ్డ విషయం తెలుస్తుంది కానీ.. ఎగ్జిక్యూషన్లో బాగా తడబడ్డాడు. అతను కథను మొదలుపెట్టిన తీరుకు.. ముగించిన విధానానికి అసలు పొంతన లేదు. తనేం చెప్పాలనుకున్నాడో సరైన క్లారిటీ లేకపోయింది. రకరకాల జానర్లు కలిపేసి కంగాళీగా తయారు చేశాడు. దర్శకుడిగా హర్షవర్ధన్ తీవ్రంగా నిరాశ పరిచాడు.
