This chapter will provide a contextual background of Social work Practice in Bangladesh. With a brief description of the emergence and development of social work education and training in Bangladesh, it will critically discuss the barriers of social work education. The chapter will also discuss the scope of social work practice for social development in Bangladesh identifying some of the areas of social work interventions. Furthermore, the chapter will elucidate some of challenges of the profession. At the end of the chapter, few suggestions will be provided for overcoming the challenges of the profession.
