Cover Letter Guide

Easy-to-follow cover letter writing tips for medical sales.

Medical Sales cover letter

The secret to making your Medical Sales cover letter remarkable is to share your excitement about the company, the field, and the position.

It’s also a good idea to aim not to re-write your resume, but rather to build upon it and expand on your competencies.

Now, let's look at some other things that will make recruiters remember you.

Choose the right salutation and craft an introduction that gets you remembered

Addressing your cover letter to a person is always something you should aim to do.

But finding who's responsible for the recruitment process might not be the easiest thing. We get it.

In such cases, we advise you to stick to the gender-neutral cover letter salutations.

Here are some examples of suitable classic salutations:

  • Dear Human Resources Manager,
  • Dear Mr. Johnson,
  • Dear Head of [team you're applying for],
  • Dear Nathan Lovelace

A noteworthy introduction is what will grab the reader by the collar and make them want to get to know you better.

But what’s the best way to begin your cover letter? Highlighting your excitement about the position!

Be honest and original – this will get you remembered. You can even link your excitement to the reasons why you’d like to grow in this exact field.

Emphasize your medical sales soft skills and mention your hard skills

Although you’ve probably listed (or are planning to list) your hard skills on your resume, don’t forget to mention them in your cover letter as well. One way to do that is by telling a personal story.

You can share how some of your skills or qualities have helped you achieve goals in the past. Or perhaps you want to talk about the things that help you get over challenges. You decide.

Naturally, both soft and hard skills should be present here. It’s especially important to include skills and qualifications that have been mentioned as part of the job description or the requirements section of the advert. This will help you pass applicant tracking systems that screen documents for certain keywords.

Prove that you're familiar with the company

Having a paragraph that shows you’re aware of the company and the issues it faces is always a good idea. It proves your enthusiasm to join the team and makes a great impression.

For bonus points, you could also share how some of your strengths could help resolve company or even industry problems.

End on a positive note

Ending your cover letter in an actionable way is one of the things that increase your chances of getting a callback.

The conclusion is also your opportunity to thank the recruiter for their time and consideration, so don’t skip that.

Just make sure to go for an ending that matches the company culture and language. If you prefer to be on the safe side, choose traditional closing lines such as “Looking forward to your reply”.

My wife and I are finalizing the paperwork to get tourists visas to Russia. We wanted to get the 3-year multi-entry for U.S. citizens, but my passport will expire before the visa will, which means a no go. Anyway, we MAY need to make a quick trip over to Ukraine in the middle of our travels in Russia. In turn, I had a few questions:

1) Do I need specific dates of when I am leaving Russia to get the double-entry visa?

2) If we don't end up leaving Russia, will we have problems trying to leave the country at the end of the trip?

Tripadvisor staff removed this post at the original author's request.

' class=

Just a couple of quick questions and observations...it would be MUCH preferable to apply for a "multi-entry"...so, when are you going, and when does your passport expire? For example, let's say you are going in June of 2020, and your passport expires in September of 2022...I forget whether you can indicate on the on-line form the end date as being "March, 2022" (since they require the visa expire 6 months before the passport)...or whether you just say in the cover letter "I understand and accept that you can and will issue a visa valid only from June 2020 thru March of 2022..."...sure, you "only" end up getting 1.75 years out of 3, BUT it is the same price, and WAY, WAY, WAY less hassle...I did this myself the same way a few years back since I did not want to apply for a renewed US passport more than a year early...

@ebertsj Thanks for your reply:

1) We will be going to Russia at the end of November.

2) My passport expires in April 2022

I am applying through the visa center in Houston. Do I need to write a separate cover letter? They didn't mention this when I went to talk to them the other day.

Are you referencing the "letter of invitation"?

Yes, so-called "letter of invitation"...which is really two very short half page docs with nice stamps...all done electronically...

Your timelines are very much like mine, so for sure go ahead and apply. IF the on-line app form does not let you put in actual dates (say November 20th thru October, 2021 (6 months shy of April), then for sure just attach a cover letter. Generally speaking, a cover letter is not really needed much these days, but given this, would not hurt...last thing you want is for them to bureaucratically reject your app out of hand (which I don't think they would tend to do)...

Also, while I may be attacked here for being overboard, I would be very careful while in the Ukraine to not bring up or get into any conversations around the current issues between Russia and the Ukraine...or maybe even the fact that you have been to Russia and are going back...
