Bramayugam Review: A Different Horror Thriller

"Bramayugam," a Malayalam film featuring Mammootty, achieved great success in Kerala and has sparked a lot of discussion and appreciation among film lovers.

Let's assess the Telugu dubbed version.

Story: The story is set in the eighteenth century in South Malabar. Devan (Arjun Ashokan), who flees from enslavement, arrives in a location next to a river. He observes an ancient palace and enters it for shelter. There, he encounters Potty (Mammootty) and his cook residing in the house. Upon discovering that Devan is a singer, Potty invites him to be his guest and offers him food.

Devan subsequently discovers that the mansion contains hidden truths and is inhabited by a demon. Devan recognizes that Potty has trapped him in this location, making it impossible for him to leave. Will Devan eventually break free, and what motivates Potty to engage in such evil activities?

Artistes’ Performances: Mammootty is absolutely terrific. He appears soft at first, but as his character develops, his expressions and laughter alone evoke horror. Mammootty's performance is the film's main strength. He maintains an air of mystery through his wickedness.

Arjun Ashokan is another standout performer in the film. More than Mammootty, we see Arjun Ashokan in the film, and he expresses fearfulness and helplessness effectively. Siddharth initially underplays his part, but his importance grows as the story progresses.

Technical Excellence: Horror thrillers necessitate robust technical execution. The film "Bramayugam" is entirely filmed in black and white and showcases exceptional technical quality.

The sound design and mixing, combined with the solid background music, are the primary strengths of this project.

The entire drama unfolds within a decrepit palace, and the production design effectively establishes the necessary sense of eeriness.

The cinematography is creative as well. The editing is precise in the first half but loses momentum in the second half.

Analysis Mammootty, a legendary Malayalam megastar, has turned 72 recently. At this age, he doesn't need to prove anything because he's seen countless blockbusters and received numerous awards for his performances. This appears to have prompted him to move beyond traditional main roles and push the envelope. He has recently taken on a variety of roles and appeared in offbeat films. He portrayed a homosexual in one of his most recent critically acclaimed flicks. Mammootty's performance in "Bramayugam" as a wicked and negative character astounds us as well.

"Bramayugam" is a period horror drama that is totally shot in black and white, creating an eerie atmosphere. Horror films typically unfold in isolated settings with limited characters. The film "Bramayugam" is a period drama set in the 1700s, taking place in an old palace with three main protagonists and two minor characters. The entire film centers on Mammootty and two other actors but the story begins with the character of Devan, played by Arjun Ashokan.

Arjun Ashokan's perspective drives the narrative, gradually unveiling several facets of Mammootty's character's evil plans. As each layer is peeled away, tension increases and curiosity intensifies.

The film also addresses topics such as kings, feudal lords, caste inequality, and the corruption of power. Additionally, there are fantasy aspects represented by a female character. These factors have contributed to provide the film with a unique experience.

Mammotty's close-up shots and laughter are spine-chilling. Director Rahul's storytelling in the first half of the film is both captivating and distinctive.

Still, there are moments when the plot leaves things unclear. It incorporates elements of class politics and philosophy, which are vague at times. Furthermore, the film transitions into a typical horror thriller towards the end, and the climax lacks intensity. In the second half, the narration turns slow further. Despite these issues, “Bramayugam” is captivating for the most part.

Overall, "Bramayugam" is an intriguing combination of mystery, horror themes, and folklore. This black-and-white film offers a unique experience with its captivating narrative, impressive sound design, and Mammootty's spellbinding performance. Although the narration is slow and the climax is regular, it still provides a different feel.

Bottom line: Chilling

ఎఫ్2, ఎఫ్ 3 లాంటి వినోదాత్మక చిత్రాలతో నేటి తరం ప్రేక్షకులకి కూడా దగ్గరైన వెంకటేష్ ఈ సారి ఈ యాక్షన్ సినిమాతో ముందుకొచ్చాడు. ట్రైలర్ చూస్తే చాలా సీరియస్ సినిమా అని అర్ధమవుతూనే ఉంది. ఇంతకీ విషయమెలా ఉందో చూద్దాం. 

సైంధవ్( వెంకటేశ్) ఒక మాజీ నేరస్థుడు. అతనికొక తల్లిలేని కూతురు గాయత్రి (సారా పాలేకర్).

మనో (శ్రద్ధ శ్రీనాథ్) తన భర్త (గెటప్ శీను) తో గొడవ వల్ల అతని నుంచి దూరంగా బతుకుతూ సైంధవ్ కి స్నేహితురాలిగా,  అతని కూతురికి తల్లిలా ఉంటుంది.

గాయత్రికి స్పైనల్ మజిల్ అట్రోఫీ అనే ఒక అరుదైన వ్యాధి ఉందని తెలుస్తుంది. అది నయమవ్వాలంటే ఒక ఇంజెక్షన్ ఇవ్వాలి. దాని ఖరీదు 17 కోట్లు.

ఆ డబ్బు కోసం సైంధవ్ ప్రయత్నాలు, ఇంతలో తన మాజీ ముఠా సభ్యుడు (నవాజుద్దీన్) అక్రమంగా ఆయుధాల్ని, డ్రగ్స్ ని, డబ్బుని చంద్రప్రస్థ అనే ప్రాంతానికి తీసుకురావడం, దానిని ఆపే ప్రయత్నంలో కస్టమ్స్ ఆఫీసర్ (జయప్రకాష్) కి సైంధవ్ సహకరించడమనే ట్రాక్ ఒకటి నడుస్తుంది.

పాపకి ఇంజక్షన్ ఇప్పించే ట్రాక్ సెంటిమెంటైతే, నవాజుద్దీన్ తో తలపడడం యాక్షన్ పార్ట్. చివరికి ఏమౌతుందనేది కథనం. 

కథ చూస్తేనే ఎప్పుడో చూసేసిన అరవ డబ్బింగ్ సినిమాల మెడ్లీలాగ అనిపిస్తోంది కదా! ఎక్కడా కొత్తదనం లేని ఈ కథకి మేకింగ్ కూడా అంతే అమెచ్యూరిష్ గా ఉంది. 

పేరున్న నటీనటుల్ని పెట్టేసుకుంటే సరిపోదు. వాళ్లకి నటించడానికి కథలో స్క్రిప్టులో విషయముండాలి. రెండుగంటల ఇరవై నిమిషాల్లో ముగిసినా నాలుగు గంటల సినిమా చూసిన ఫీలింగొస్తే ఆ గొప్పదనం స్క్రిప్ట్ అండ్ డైరెక్షన్ దే. 

డైలాగ్స్ కూడా నీరసంగా సాగుతూ ఎక్కడా స్పార్క్ లేకుండా ఉన్నాయి.

"లెక్క మారుద్ది నా కొడకా" అని వెంకటేష్ చేత రెండు మూడు సందర్భాల్లో అనిపించి అదే అద్భుతమైన మాస్ డైలాగ్ అనుకోమన్నట్టుంది.

1990ల్లో చూసినా కూడా కాస్తంత ఔట్ డేటెడ్ గా ఉందనిపించే స్క్రిప్ట్ ఇది. 

ఎఫ్2, ఎఫ్3 లాంటి సినిమాలు చేస్తూ తన కామెడీ టైమింగుతో ఈ తరం యంగ్ ఆడియన్స్ కూడా అలరిస్తున్న వెంకటేష్ కి యాక్షన్ సినిమాలో నటించాలనే ఆలోచన వచ్చినప్పుడు కథ, కథనాల పట్ల ప్రత్యేక దృష్టి పెట్టుండాల్సింది.

ఎందుకంటే ఈ కథని ఎలా చెప్పినా కూడా చెయ్యాలనే ఆసక్తి కలిగే చాన్సులు తక్కువ. అయినా కలిగిందంటే కచ్చితంగా జడ్జిమెంట్ లోపమే. 

నేపథ్య సంగీతం బాగున్నా పాటలు అస్సలు ఆకట్టుకోవు. కెమెరా వర్క్ బాగుంది. ఎడిటింగ్ ఇంకా పదునుగా ఉంటే బాగుండేది. 

వెంకటేశ్ తన పాత్ర మేరకు చేయాల్సింది చేసాడు కానీ ఎక్కడా స్పార్క్ చూపించలేకపోయాడు. తన స్థాయికి ఇది చాలా ఈజీ క్యారెక్టర్.  

శ్రద్ధ శ్రీనాథ్ హీరో పక్కన పెయిరింగ్ కి ఎవరో ఒకరు ఉండాలి కాబట్టి ఉన్నట్టుంది. ఎంచుకున్న జానర్ కి తగ్గట్టుగా ఈమె పాత్రని లిమిట్ చేస్తూ లవ్ ట్రాక్, పాటలు లాంటివి పెట్టలేదు.

గాయత్రి పాత్రలో బేబీ సారాపాలేకర్ క్యూట్ గా బానే చేసింది. డాక్టర్ గా రుహాని శర్మ ఓకే. 

నవాజుద్దిన్ లాంటి ప్రతిభగల నటుడు కొన్ని చోట్ల చిరాకు తెప్పించే ఎక్స్ప్రెషన్స్ తో విసికించాడంటే దర్శకత్వలోపం ఏ రేంజులో ఉందో అర్ధం చేసుకోవచ్చు. 

ఆర్య లాంటి నటుడిని పెట్టుకుని అతనినొక జూనియర్ ఆర్టిస్టులా వాడాడు దర్శకుడు. తెర మీద తాను ఎందుకున్నాడో తనకే డౌటొచ్చేలా ఉంది ఆ క్యారెక్టర్. 

ఆండ్రియా పరిస్థితి కూడా అంతే. విలన్ పక్కన సైడ్ కిక్ గా కనిపిస్తూ నాలుగు కిక్కులు కొట్టడానికి, పది కిక్కులు తన్నించుకోవడానికి సరిపోయింది. తాను ఉన్నంతసేపూ బబుల్ గం నములుతూనే ఉంది.

ఫస్టాఫ్, సెకండాఫ్ అని తేడా లేకుండా మొత్తం ఫ్లాట్ గా ఒకటే మూడ్ లో నడుస్తుంది.  

ఇలాంటి సినిమా చేయడం వెంకటేష్ కి కొత్త అనుభూతి ఇచ్చిందేమో కానీ ప్రేక్షకులకి మాత్రం దుఃఖం మిగిల్చింది. 

అవసరానికి మించిన వయొలెన్స్, ఎంత విలనే అయినా నవాజుద్దీన్ నోటి వెంట అవసరం లేని బూతులు, ఎక్కడా ట్విస్టులు లేని ఫ్లాట్ నెరేషన్, ఆసక్తి గొలపని స్క్రీన్ ప్లే.. వెరసి ఈ చిత్రం ఒక హింసాత్మక సెంటిమెంట్! వెంకటేష్ తన 75 వ చిత్రంగా ఈ స్క్రిప్ట్ ని ఎందుకు ఓకే చెసాడో తెలియన అంశం.

Nithiin's Birthday Glimpse: Filled With Action

The makers of Robinhood released a new poster earlier today, as a birthday special of hero Nithiin.

The makers gave another pleasant surprise by releasing a birthday special glimpse featuring Nithiin.

While it shows different gangs in the city and forest trying to attack, Nithiin who finally makes his entry as an Agent Robinhood, is all set to show them what he is capable of.

The title glimpse presented him in a humorous way, whereas the birthday glimpse that is out now is filled with a lot of action.

The visuals are spectacular, and seemingly, Venky Kudumula opted for a larger-than-life story for Robinhood. The background score is also riveting.

While Venky Kudumula’s taking is exceptional, the production design of Mythri Movie Makers is remarkable.

Dhanush and Shruti Haasan have come together for the movie ‘3’ and this movie has been directed by Rajinikanth’s daughter Aishwarya Dhanush. The movie has been produced by Natti Kumar. Let us see how the movie stacks up

Ram (Dhanush) is the darling son of Bhanupriya and Prabhu. He falls in love at a very young age with Janani ( Shruti ) and this is opposed vehemently by their parents. But in unexpected circumstances, they marry each other. After marriage, as they start building a life together, fate deals a cruel blow and the story takes unexpected twists. Ram is afflicted with Bipolar Disorder and he suffers from extreme mood swings. As Ram and Janani battle this disease, will they be able to set their lives in order? Will Ram be cured of his disease?

Plus Points :

The movie has had good exposure due to the runaway success of the ‘Kolaveri’ song and this has guaranteed a lot of interest in the film. Dhanush has portrayed two very different roles in this movie and his performance is good. Shruti Haasan looks good and she has done a good job.

The first half of the movie is slightly better when compared to the second half. ‘Kannulada’ and ‘Pove Po’ have been shot well and they are good to listen to.

Minus Points : The story and the treatment will not appeal to Telugu film lovers at all. The first scene of the film itself sends a rude shock to the viewer and its a rapid downhill ride from there. Though Dhanush has performed well, it is tough for our people to accept him as a hero. Shruti Haasan keeps weeping throughout the film and this is downright depressing to watch.

There are many loopholes in the screenplay and narration is poor. There is absolutely zero entertainment in the movie for casual movie lovers and viewers end up getting frustrated. There is no synchronization between the first half and the second half.

Technical Aspects :

Editing is atrocious and that is a major culprit. Dialogues are quite poor. Cinematography is decent. Production values are good. Aishwarya Dhanush fails to make an impression with her direction skills and there is no conviction in her narration.

If you are a casual movie lover looking for some entertainment, stay away from ‘3’. The movie has absolutely nothing for you. If you are a hardcore fan of Tamil tragedy cinemas, you can try and risk a watch.

Is breaking bad really getting a heisenberg sequel movie in 2024 not so fast.

A poster revealing a 2024 Walter White-centered Breaking Bad spin-off movie has gained traction online. Is it real? Here's what we know.

A poster has surfaced for a 2024 Breaking Bad Heisenberg movie sequel, bringing its legitimacy into question. For over a decade since the show's ending, audiences have inquired regarding the future of Breaking Bad characters , or at least the select few who survived. The prequel series Better Call Saul offered a few glimpses throughout its run, and the sequel film El Camino: A Breaking Bad Movie followed up Jessie Pinkman's story in 2019. Still, passionate and dedicated fans of the series crave more, causing a reactive internet response to a poster going around.

Breaking Bad, Better Call Saul, and El Camino are all available to stream on Netflix.

The poster depicts Walter White lying in a hospital bed, indicating that he awoke after his supposed death in the Breaking Bad ending. The headline reads " Heisenberg," suggesting the film's name, with an August 2024 release date. The Facebook post revealed a detailed synopsis in its caption, which explained that the movie would follow Walter White escaping prison. Breaking Bad is one of the best TV shows of all time , so there's no surprise that such a poster would trigger a quick, explosive response.

Breaking Bad Is Not Getting A Heisenberg Movie Sequel In 2024

The breaking bad sequel poster is fan-made, and there is no movie planned for the franchise.

Simply put, the poster is fake. There is no Breaking Bad movie coming in 2024, nor is there one currently planned at any point in the future. In addition, AMC Films is not a real production company. Bryan Cranston, who led the Breaking Bad cast as Walter White, has returned to the role multiple times for Better Call Saul and a Super Bowl commercial where he appeared alongside Aaron Paul. However, neither of those appearances altered the Breaking Bad ending, as one took place before his death chronologically, and the other is a joke for a commercial.

It's hard to imagine any of the creative talents involved in making a well-crafted series like Breaking Bad would have any interest in such an idea.

Breaking Bad had one of the best TV show finales of all time , making the idea of retroactively changing it for a movie sequel ludicrous. Walter White evidently died in Breaking Bad , completing a five-season arc with cathartic moments in Ozymandias and Felina . Having him return for a prison break, portraying an unhinged Heisenberg, would absolutely betray that arc. It's hard to imagine any of the creative talents involved in making a well-crafted series like Breaking Bad would have any interest in such an idea.

There Are No Current Plans To Continue The Breaking Bad Franchise After Better Call Saul

After better call saul ended in 2022, breaking bad creator vince gilligan has moved on to new projects.

As of now, Better Call Saul is the final installment to the Breaking Bad franchise . The show ended in 2022 to overwhelming critical acclaim, concluding the final arcs in Vince Gilligan's world of Albuquerque crime. Realistically, there aren't many promising narratives to follow in future spin-offs, hence why Gilligan has moved on to a new project. The Breaking Bad creator is now working on a TV series for Apple TV+ which is set to star the magnificent Rhea Seehorn, who played Kim Wexler for all six seasons of Better Call Saul .

What would an all-female government look like in the U.S.? Or even a majority female government? It’s something that remains a fantasy. But for the ambitious high school students in the Girls State program, given the spotlight in a new documentary arriving on Apple TV+ Friday, it’s something they can play at for at least a week.

Six years ago, documentary filmmakers Amanda McBaine and Jesse Moss brought their cameras to the Boys State camp in Texas in the aftermath of a historic and, according to that 2018 class, embarrassing stunt in which their predecessors voted to secede from the U.S. By the time the filmmakers were finishing that effort, they were already thinking about a follow up focused on the girls’ program.

In “Girls State” they move away from Texas and to Missouri, and give voice to several midwestern teens during a heightened week in which a draft of the Supreme Court’s decision to overturn Roe v. Wade , which legalized abortion nationwide, had leaked to the press. This is hardly a consensus issue among the young women at the camp: Even at a single lunch table, many sides of the debate are represented. One girl is firmly pro-choice, but even those opposed also have differing viewpoints of what the government’s purview should be.

During another moment, two girls talk about the right to bear arms. One preaches the importance of protecting a constitutional right, the possibility of arming teachers and the comfort she would get from having access to a bedside automatic rifle should an armed intruder enter her house at night. The other wonders if that’s more of a danger to the household than anything else. And they eventually agree to disagree. Minds are not necessarily being changed through these talks, but all seem excited for the opportunity to be heard (and, sometimes, to hear what others have to say).

McBaine and Moss take pains to find a group of main characters with different backgrounds and viewpoints. There’s the city girl from St. Louis who thinks she’s probably the most liberal of the bunch. There’s the reformed conservative who once followed her family but in recent years has started disagreeing. There’s a moderate conservative who truly believes in bipartisanship. And there is one Black girl who wonders if she’s the first Black person that some of the others have seen. The microaggressions, she says, have been few at least. She ends up being elected attorney general, while the others run for the highest office: governor.

Perhaps the most compelling turn of events is how a bit of camp gossip about Boys State, being held on the same campus for the first time ever, evolves into a movement. The girls are dispirited by rumors of more funding and less fluff for the boys. They also all cringe when time is taken to scold them for wearing shorts and tops that are too revealing and wonder if the boys are getting similar lectures. After the election, one girl takes it upon herself to do some investigative journalism about the rumored inequities.

Like “Boys State,” this film presents a fascinating microcosm of American teenagers. Granted, it’s a rather narrow, self-selecting group of kids who choose to spend a week of their summer vacation creating a mock government. You wonder whether four or eight years from now, when they are voting and entering the workforce, they’ll have a similar interest in politics and policy and the ambition to do something about it. For the sake of democracy, let’s hope so — these kids are really something.

“Girls State,” an Apple TV+ release streaming Friday, has not been rated by the Motion Picture Association but should be appropriate for most audiences. Running time: 98 minutes. Three stars out of four.
